Celebrating The Senses. Twin sisters and best friends Sarah and Boo Simms are the culinary and creative duo behind LA based Lady + Larder, and they’re responsible for starting a global grazing board movement. With a long list of devoted customers and fans, they’re a beloved and local go-to for delicious and stylish entertaining. Quite simply, they positively own the term “edible displays”. Their meticulously sourced meats, cheeses, fruits, and vegetables along with other delicious details are curated and arranged to create special, one-of-a-kind platters and boards that are a thing of beauty. With modern branding, approachable style, and American sensibility, “sense of place” is important to the duo, and a large source of their inspiration. They believe in supporting an 100% domestic and sustainable food culture. Their business has grown---they now serve lunch, and have a full bodega that includes produce, flowers, items for the home and more, along with a cheese counter. Two of four siblings, the women have major roots in the California hospitality industry. Cooking and mealtime and the many rituals around each were sacred in their household, and on this podcast we get into a lot of those details. We discuss how they complement one another’s creativity, the high regard they hold for their makers and producers, and the relationship they have with them, and with seasonality. We discuss each of their careers before Lady + Larder, how they eat at home, how and why they were quick to pivot their business during the pandemic, their use of items like flowers, traveling + farmers markets, and more, including really great, long list of some of their favorite things from kitchenware to fashion some of which you can shop here:1.
