Jim and I are looking Jim'spointing at the Roy G Biv.
Roy G Biv, that's right, rightthere.
Yeah, the Jim.
I don't know if any of you haveheard that acronym before, but
it's a way to be able to makesure that you remember the order
(01:02):
of the chakra colors.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Well, it's the
spectrum, the color spectrum,
the color spectrum.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Yeah, that's the
order.
Say it again Like a rainbowROYGBIV, roygbiv.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Which stands for Red,
orange, yellow, green, blue,
indigo, violet.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Brilliant, okay, so
ROYGBIV, which will be the name
of this episode.
I am, of course course, yourhost of most, most roast ep with
me, always and forever.
Uh is the cricket himself.
Jimmy, how are you me, my, um,my uh, cosmic brother I'm good
man, how are you good good?
(01:37):
ah, if you haven't done soalready, head on over instagram,
do the things and the stuff, follow us, tell us you love us
and, uh, send us messages, kisses, dick pics, whatever you
got, man, we're into all of it.
I'll do the edit on this one, jim, don't worry.
Yeah, it's all coming out.
I only do it to make you blush, man, that's all um, where would
you like to begin?
Because I got a couple ofthings that I would like to talk
(01:59):
.
You can go if you want.
Well, for those of you thatdon't know, jim and I have a
guidebook for happiness, yeah,we do um, and I was doing some
online research, uh, scouringthe web to find out, uh, the top
10 ways, methods that you canuse in order to be happy.
Um, one of those methods, ofcourse, is surprise, surprise,
journaling.
So, if you haven't done soalready, pick up a copy of our
(02:22):
guidebook.
It is in the show notes and itis in the bio on instagram
straight love, str, the numbereight, dot, love.
Uh, jim and I put our heart, our souls and a lot of our
cosmic beings into thisguidebook.
We're super proud of it.
But, um, look, gratitudepractice it works, man.
Yeah, um it it.
(02:42):
Cultivating that on a dailybasis really does make you
happier.
The, the, the science is outthere and it's, it's.
It seems pretty indisputable atthis point.
Yeah, what else do you think ison this list, man, when it
comes to happiness?
Speaker 3 (02:55):
well, I would imagine
basic fundamentals of living
like security, safety, all thosetypes of things are a big
proponent and component of it.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Okay.
So I'm glad that you said that, man, because happiness it's a
lot.
It's a lot less complicatedthan I think that we make it out
to be.
Right, we chase a lot of thingsin life that we think are going
to make us happy but don'tnecessarily end up making us
happy.
Right, being material things, money, all the things that seem
to be forced down our throatwhen it comes to social media,
(03:26):
uh, things that you see on TVand all that kind of stuff.
Um, we had talked about agratitude practice.
That's on there.
The relationships that you havein your life, cultivating those
things, friendships, romanticrelationships, those are the
things that are really going tomake sure that your life is
fruitful and happy in life.
Um, big, big surprise.
Staying physically active, man.
Yeah, getting your steps inevery day, going to the gym,
(03:47):
taking care of your physicalbody that's one of the pillars
in our guidebook.
A lot of people, for whateverreason, don't make their health
a priority.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
And that's also a
very science thing, of course.
Like there's no.
That's indisputable as well.
Absolutely indisputable, absolutely just the impact that
that has totally, man.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
When you feel good,
when you look good, you feel
good, you're gonna be good, you're gonna be happy.
Uh, prioritize sleep.
Yeah, surprise, surprise again, going to bed is the greatest
isn't bed the best place to be?
Honestly, um, and it doesn'tmean going to bed and then
scrolling on tiktok for sixhours.
You know it means lights out.
Do you have a tiktok?
(04:24):
No, you don't.
I sure don't man, absolutelynot.
No, I'm a 45 year old man.
I have no business being ontiktok.
Okay, should I make us anaccount?
Speaker 3 (04:33):
no no, okay you would
be the only one who would be
having to manage it.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
I wouldn't even know
where to begin with tiktok, to
be honest, but uh, you know if Iever wanted to hand my
information over to the chinesegovernment I'd probably just
send them an email.
Yeah, um.
So yeah, sleep um.
What do you like?
Do you have a sleep routine, man?
Do you have blackout drapes,all?
Speaker 3 (04:52):
that, yeah, I do you
do it?
Speaker 2 (04:53):
yeah, I do.
What's your sleep routine lookslike like?
Do you do melatonin?
Do you magnesium?
Speaker 3 (04:59):
308 oh, yeah, yeah,
okay do that 45 minutes before
bed, yeah, I don't really havenecessarily a super predefined
routine, other than I justreally try to get in there as
early as I possibly can do youlike to have a sleep a set time
that you're in, that you're inbed all the time?
Uh, yeah, like I really.
(05:19):
If I'm not in there by 10, 30the latest, then I start to get
like antsy about it and not youknow, I get a bit displeased
with myself.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Oh, there you go.
Okay, so you want to make surethat you're in your jammy jams.
You got your warm glass of milkby 1030.
That's how that works.
Lights out 1030 lights out 1030.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
If or, if it's
earlier, all the there you go.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Yeah, who doesn't
want to be in bed man?
Speaker 3 (05:44):
And honestly I will
say I mean I not always, but
when it permits, which isusually, I will say but like
weekends, you know Friday, saturday, something like that to
to get everything that I needto get done during the day.
Let's say it's just whateverSaturday do whatever it needs to
be done.
I get a lot of enjoymentknowing that everything's kind
(06:04):
of taken care of or I'veaccomplished everything that
I've wanted to take care of forthat day and it'll be like 730
and I'll say, well, you knowwhat I'm going to start winding
down.
Start, you know, do the dishesif they need to be done, get
myself together to go to bed andlike, getting into bed at 830
to read, full well, knowing thatelephants are going to sit on
(06:26):
my eyelids within a matter ofmoments, I, I really enjoy that.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
There you go, man.
Hey look, we're at a differentpoint in our life as well, right
?
Yeah like I mean when 45 versus25, you're gonna have different
priorities and sleep is justmore of a priority at this point
in time and, yeah, you justfeel better about your life when
you're fully rested.
Yeah, stress management andpracticing mindfulness.
Yeah, stress management, man, stress number one killer out
(06:53):
there.
A lot of people don't realizethat.
Yeah, they should get with it,absolutely.
I was talking to my uh I thinkI've told this story before on
this on the podcast but mychiropractor we were talking
about um, um, how.
When he hears about somebodyhaving a heart attack, a lot of
people will say, geez, you knowhow old was he?
What was his diet, like thatkind of stuff.
(07:13):
And he says the first questionthat he asked is what did he do
for a living?
How stressful was his job?
We don't realize that stress is.
I mean, it's killing us, man, when you think about your body
in a stressful state, like thetension that you're holding
always going around, just liketensed up all the time, that
can't be good for yourcirculatory system, you know I
(07:36):
agree.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
I, um, is there more,
do you have more?
Because I it's kind of like agood segue, the whole thing is a
good segue I got one, two, three, four more oh yeah, I'll
cycle through them quick here.
So I'll cycle through themquick here.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
So I'll keep knocking
them off uh, find a purpose and
a meaning.
This is a big one that kind ofseems to be out there right now.
Find a purpose what are youdoing?
What are you here for?
You got to have a somethingthat's bigger than yourself.
Yeah, meaning, on the otherhand and I'm not sure why these
two are together, but, um,purpose, I was kind of thought,
is you know, like what, like, what do you, what do you put on
this planet for?
And then meaning is kind of alittle bit more.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
I actually have a
very admin opinion about this
and I think it is important forabsolutely everybody, and the
opinion that I have on it is Idon't necessarily think uh, I'm
sort of thinking about thisright now, on the spot it may be
not necessarily exactly has tobe um, for the greater good of
(08:29):
the world, but it has to be forthe greater good of you, and by
that I mean it has to beconstructive, it has to be
something for you, it has to besomething that does something to
bring you to a higher place, ahigher vibration.
Something to bring you to ahigher place, a higher vibration
(08:50):
yeah, buzzword there, whichthen makes it better for the
greater world, for the greatergood.
that's how I view it, and youhave to be the one to decide it
right, and I promise it's notgoing to be cheetos and netflix.
What it's going to be is it'sgoing to be um, if, if, if
keeping a really clean home isimportant to you, then you put
your time and energy into that, because cleanliness and
(09:11):
orderliness is a highervibration.
If reading a book a month isimportant to you, then that is a
good, constructive way to spendyour time and to exercise your
mind.
How about learning Spanish, brother, learning Spanish?
If that is something that'simportant to you, then that is a
constructive thing.
Again, to exercise your mindand you learn a useful skill.
(09:32):
Right, and I'm very adamantabout people deciding what they
want to make important and, honestly, like, some things can
be really, really I don't wantto use the word insignificant or
trivial, but they can be thingslike that yeah as long as it's
like, in my opinion, somethingthat represents you or sort of
defines you, even if it'ssomething like, I don't know,
(09:56):
you like to have a certain colorof shoelaces on the shoes that
you own right, and so it's likea little part of your identity
and creativity that doesn't takea lot of your time, but maybe
it's something that just makesyou feel good to be you sure,
something that you believe aboutyourself.
I dig that man.
It could be something as smallas that, or it could be
(10:17):
something as great as any ofthose other things, or
volunteering your time, orwhatever the case might be, but
I think we all know really, atthe end of the day, the stuff
that doesn't mean shit.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Absolutely,
absolutely.
And and side note here thereason I brought up learning
Spanish is because Jim, rightnow, is on a 41 day consecutive
winning streak of learningSpanish every single day using
Duolingo, which is an app thatyou can all download and is also
a sponsor of the podcast.
I don't know if you knew thator not, jim, but Duolingo Not
falling.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
Not falling again.
But Jim actually inspired me aswell.
They've given us both a freeaccount.
Some sponsor.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Jim actually inspired
me as well, though I'm on a
14-day streak of my own A 15-daystreak, I think, as of this
morning, also learning spanish.
So in the not too distantfuture, jim and I have pledged
to do an entire episode onespanol.
Si, yeah, yeah, um comemanzanas not on the air that
(11:21):
would be very distracting yeah, they would hate that.
That's rude almost hey, how'sthis for a segue?
Eat a healthy diet, just likemanzanas.
Yeah, this force is strong withthis one.
Well, jim and I I mean we'vethis is we're preaching the
choir here.
We've talked about garbage andgargoyle man, right?
(11:42):
I mean, whatever you're puttinginto your body should really be
to fuel it, and that means thatdoesn't mean that you can't
have you know, chocolate coveredpretzels on a semi, maybe not?
Speaker 3 (11:52):
semi regular basis.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
But you know you
don't want to rob yourself of
certain things but at the sametime, you know you can't be
eating like that every singleday.
Yeah, a cart full of Gushers atCostco is, yeah, it's not gonna
.
It's not gonna be good foranybody.
All right, two left man.
Uh, be generous and give back.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
Charitable donations,
volunteer your time.
Um, when you give, you receiveYep.
And then uh, oh sorry, I lied, there's two more Engage in
enjoyable activities, do whatyou love and, finally, regularly
reflect and reevaluate.
Super good, this is a reallygood one, and one that I kind of
(12:36):
wanted to expand on a littlebit.
I think that we wait sometimesuntil the end of our life to do
a life review.
Don't wait until the end, man.
Do one now.
Are you midlife, like Jim and Iare?
Now is a perfect time to reflect, though.
Like where are you at in yourlife?
What have you accomplished?
Look back, be proud of some ofthe things that you've done.
(12:58):
If you're coming up short inother places, you've still got
time.
You still got time.
Don't wait until the end.
Where you don't have timeanymore, do it now, you know.
Figure out where some of theplaces are where you just like
to improve on things.
Where are some of the placesyou still want to go?
What are some of the thingsthat you still want to do?
You got one shot at this life.
Don't wait until the end tolook back.
Do it now.
(13:18):
Do it now.
There's there's lots ofdifferent forms and PDFs and all
sorts of different things youcan download online and you can
fill them out and really giveyourself a good overview of,
maybe, where you're at in lifeand what you'd still like to be
able to accomplish or do or notdo.
Speaker 3 (13:33):
Yeah, yeah.
It's always very good togenuinely reflect on things and
do you do life reviews man?
I don't know if I necessarilydo that.
I necessarily do that.
I mean, I certainly reflect onaspects of life absolutely and,
uh, how maybe certaincircumstances have gone or
certain decisions that I've madethat haven't been the greatest.
(13:55):
I probably should maybe try toacknowledge ones that have been
good ones, yeah, but but but Ido.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Yeah, what a good
reminder, though, man, you know,
to give yourself maybe a pat onthe back once in a while.
Yeah, you know, it's just like, like, hey, like, look at all
I've done, look, look at whatI've built, look at what I have.
A lot of people say you know,like it's, you know there's a
lot of luck involved in certainthings or certain good fortune
that's happened.
But I mean, you still have toput in taking on a project where
you and I build our own lifereview that we can share with
(14:32):
the listeners.
Oh, maybe we could give it awayfree as part of the journal
guidebook.
Sure, yeah, we could talk aboutthat.
Huh, how about that?
We just we just, you know cameto this agreement now.
This, now, this is a this is aprofound moment.
Speaker 3 (14:49):
This is real life.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
No, seriously, man, I
think it would be number one, I
think it would be um helpful.
Yeah, and again, not charginganybody anything, I only give up
.
If anything, I would put a linkright next to the guidebook and
say, here, download this.
Here We'll slap some, uh, somestraight love branding on there,
and it would be nice to seewhat people uh get out of it.
Or I would certainly do it.
I think life reviews are, Ithink it's, I think it's uh, I
(15:15):
think it's a good exercise.
Let's just put it that way Okay, yeah, we're committed to
discuss.
Yeah, all right, all right,okay.
So what else did this segueinto?
Man?
Speaker 3 (15:23):
Because I feel like
I've I don't know.
You want to save it for thenext one.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Oh, yeah, yeah, why
not?
Okay, yeah, so we knock thisone out now.
Sure, that was pretty good, eh?
Top 10 ways to be happy.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
Again, don't
overcomplicate things.
Everything that we've talkedabout is very attainable.
Yeah, it is.
Is is, for some reason, not aseasy as we make it out to be,
and it's not inside and it's notoutside anywhere, right?
A lot of these things arethings that you're cultivating
within.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
Oh yeah, yeah, I
don't.
There's nothing I can add tothat.
That's, that's enough.
Boat.
That's as succinct as that canbe.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
I wouldn't, I
wouldn't add a number 11.
And if you can find yourself afriend like Jim, thanks, it's
like.
I mean it's guaranteedhappiness, right?
Well?
Speaker 3 (16:16):
I appreciate that
it's a two-way street.
It's not just one-way traffic.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
Yeah, absolutely
Two-way streets.
That's another secret tohappiness right there yeah.
Trying to figure out a way towrap this up.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
Yeah, let's.
Yeah, I've got something forthe next.
We'll save it for the next one.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
Okay, we'll save it
for the next one and you and I
will talk more about this lifereview that we're going to
create.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
Very exciting man too
.
Yeah, all right, thanks foreverybody for listening.
Go be happy.
Love you, buddy, love you too.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
Bye, bye, bye.
I'm feeling it, if the time isright, I know you're my way,
(17:13):
baby, I'm feeling it.
