Speaker 1 (00:13):
What's up everyone out there, Internetland, and welcome to episode
four sixteen of their straight Shooters, available wherever podcasts are found.
My name is Vaughan Johnson, and I'm joining as always
by my main man Pots and Pans, Nick Pocona Fox,
Phl Gambler, an Philly influencer, and we have yet another
fantastic show ahead of us here on episode four sixteen,
the very first of twenty twenty five. So happy new

(00:35):
year to you all out there in internet Land. As
I mentioned earlier, but what are we talking about? What
are we doing here on episodes four sixteen. It is
a deep dive. We're diving deep. We're recapping the very
first episode of Monday Night Raw on Netflix. A historic
episode of the show aired this past Monday Night, emanated

(00:57):
from the Into It Dome, home of the La Clippers
in La. We're gonna talk all about it because there's
so much to talk about, and we got so much
to talk about that we even brought in reinforcements. We
brought us some help, we brought us some backup. We
brought in the third man, Brian Osley, an author by
the way too. By the way, let me just mention
it before we get into him. Jet Black out in

(01:17):
these streets right now, get yourself a copy. Brian, How
you doing in twenty twenty five? Good sir, I'm doing
well man.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Thank you guys for having me once again, especially for
such a historic episode, not only for Monday Night Raw,
but for you guys as well as the first episode
of twenty twenty five. And we're talking about the Netflix
era of Monday Night Raw. As Paul of that's eloquently
stated in his opening monologue. And this guy has monologues now.

(01:50):
It's crazy pretty much. But I'm happy to be here
as always. It's always fun potting with you guys, and
I'm ready to get started. And yeah, thank you for
plugging Jet Black. I am officially an author now and
things are going well the first of three and the

(02:11):
Jet Black series, and I'm I couldn't be happier. Man,
couldn't be happier from from the positive feedback that I'm getting,
all the love that people are showing, and I just
appreciate the support again.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Jet Black Volume one, Fear of a Black Planet, written
by Brian Osley quotes Thompson, but we call him the
third man. Brian Eisley here give it, Dawn, what that
book say.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Even though it's my real name.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Called Terry Blair Hakogan. He's we'll talk about him later, Lord,
we'll talk about him a little bit later before we
talk about him or anything else. Regarding Monday Night Raw,
Historic edition of Monday Night Raw. I got to do
my weekly check on my man man pots and pans. Nick.
How are you doing on this lovely Tuesday evening, my
good brother.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Oh, we got some snow yesterday, Sunday night and a
Monday and we might get some more this weekend. So
we're in the thick of winter. Uh you know, I'm
here for it. It's rumble season and uh you know,
obviously Netflix were all and then Saturday Night's main event
coming up. So yeah, man, I'm I'm hype.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
And we got Eagles playoffs coming up too, Yeah that too,
and for Brian and I say, the Commander's playoffs too.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Yes, you're very observant. You paid. I guess you should be.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
You're a journalist, so that's true.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
I appreciate that you're.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Welcome, even though I mean, look, I don't like the
chances that they come to Philly, but that's just my opinion.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
I mean neither, but I got to ride this wave out.
We don't. We're not good very often, but I do
have faith in the future because of Jaden, and I'm
very excited.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
As you should. As you should, but the Eagles this
week Sunday four thirty hosting the Green Bay Packers, We're
gonna be busy. I know I am, so I assume
you are as well. If you're working journalist in this
town and you cover sports, you're probably gonna be busy
on that time. So, uh yeah, that's something that's happening.
It's that time where you pretty much don't sleep until

(04:27):
the season's over.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
So the primetime slot, we got to the four point
thirty Sunday.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Yeah, that's an American Game of the Week spot. I'm
just glad personally. This is just for me selfishly that
they're not playing Monday like they did last year.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Oh yeah, that's that was terrible, terrible and it's terrible,
and obviously how the game played out was terrible.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
Yes, but Monday playoff games just feel odd still to me.
I know why they do it money, but I don't
like it, and it's just just come on. Monday night
games in general just don't love that maybe it's just
the old person to me and I didn't like this
even when I worked for the team. I hate it,
and that wasn't alone. Okay, So I'm sure everybody's happy

(05:09):
that the game was on Sunday. Keep a little routine.
It happened to do it on a Saturday, and heaven
from bid like we had that a couple of years ago.
We had to play a game on Tuesday or whatever
it was. That was terrible. So but Sunday four thirty,
we're all gonna be busy. So uh it is. Yeah,
here we are back again. And like you said, it's
snow on the ground. I had to shove on my
sidewalk because of the snow. Now I'm a homeowner, you know,

(05:31):
I gotta make sure that I shovel my sidewalk.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
And salt it different.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
Oh boy, you ain't lying. You ain't lying, And it
ain't fun, but it is what it is. As we
start the year of twenty twenty five, we started off
with a bang, y'all. We started off with an historic
episode of Monday Night Raw, of course, the very first
to air on Netflix. A lot happened on the show,

(06:02):
and we're going to talk all about it here on
episode four sixteen. Let's start off real quick aesthetic changes
to Monday Night Raw. I think you know, the first
thing you see when the show airs is obviously what
it looks like. And the first thing I noticed was,
for one, a black matt, which I think we talked
about with the I think on X or something like that.

(06:25):
I mentioned this Smack had a blue mat and I
was like, oh, maybe the whole have a black math
for RAW. Well, there it is a black math, fortunately
not a red mat. I'm very glad to see that
they didn't go with a red mat. But not only
did they have a black math for Monday Night Raw,
it was also covered littered with ads. Miss McMahon would
never any thoughts on the black mat and the mat

(06:47):
being covered in ads.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
It looks like a boxing ring.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Yeah, yeah it.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
Is to me. I love it. Actually, Yeah, I don't
care what Vince would never do. That guy's it's Paul.
It's Paul Avex's time, and he wants ads, so we
get adds. Yeah, TK, you're right about that. I'm sorry.

(07:18):
I forget that. He's not the he's the top guy,
but he's not the top guy.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
Yeah, not the type guy, Nick, I know you had
thoughts on aesthetics, ring ropes, anything else that stuck out
to you besides the black matt with the ads on it.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
It made me think if we're all just had a
black matt with the black ring apron and the red
ropes the way like two thousand and four, and then
Snackdown kept the light blue or gray matt and then
had the gray silver aprons with the blue ropes and
silver ring posts, that might be like my ideal w

(07:56):
W aesthetic. But I agree, I'm well, I'll take the
black mat with with ads. I'll I'll take different ads,
you know, but it is what it is, and I
didn't really I don't think the aesthetic was that worse
off for it with the ads. But it would be

(08:18):
nice if they just you know, had the logo of
the of Raw maybe in it, but you know, it
is again, I don't know who makes those decisions or
why they're made to not include like a RAW logo
at least, but I mean it could put it like
right above Netflix or right below or something like that.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
That's a space you can sell. We know what people
know what the watch them.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Yeah, but it still looks cool on the mat, even
though it is on the apron and all the LEDs.
But I get it, but the white ropes look better
with a different Matt color. I will say that because
SmackDown we saw the dark blue mat. It was remnant
that of WCWN ME because they had that color mad
lot before they started putting their pay per view logos

(09:07):
on it and everything. So I really think the aesthetic
when it comes to the mat and the ropes is
probably as good as it can get. Right now, Will
we see ads on SmackDown? I mean maybe, but we
didn't this past Friday. Will we eventually? Maybe will be

(09:27):
for the premium live events? Maybe, but you know what
color Matt will the premium live events be?

Speaker 1 (09:33):
You know, fair question, Probably going to be white? But
one hundred percent going to see ads in the ring,
for they are.

Speaker 3 (09:40):
Way more than time, yeah, just yeah, exactly more than
just the prime logo.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Right, So I don't think this is the end of
not only ads in the ring, but like multiple ads
in the ring. I think you'll see them probably. I
don't know about Raw every week, I don't know about
Smacking every week, but I think definitely for the pl
s for sure, You're gonna see those ads in the ring,
because that'shen they're gonna have. The multi eyeballs that's going
to have going to have the most impressions for their advertisers,
which is what they're paying for. So but yeah, it's capitalism,

(10:07):
you know. Like Brian said, it looks like boxing, and
boxing's been doing it for decades, and the same for
pretty much every other combat sport except wrestling, because Vince
saw the matt is sacred and for whatever reason, he's
a capitalist and everything else except the wrestling ring itself.
He just didn't want that to be touched. But everybody

(10:27):
else is like, sell it. Even Tony Khan came in.
It's like, yeah, draft Kings, get get your get your
ad money up, come on, bring it over here. So yeah,
I don't understand why they didn't do it for years,
But here they are ads all over the ring. No surprise.
They're going to be on uniforms and pretty much every sport.
They're already on baseball, already on basketball. I don't know
about hockey. Think on the helmets in hockey, right, they

(10:48):
got ads on the helmets.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
And some of them have them on the sweaters like
the flyers have the ib X on the sweater, but
still every team does.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
And then football is like the only sport at least
in this country that hasn't had it yet because of
like WNBA, the n WSL, like MLS, all those other
teams in this country and of course the European soccer teams,
you don't even know the team's logo. You know that,
you know the recognized the team, about the sponsor on
the front.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
Right, exactly the same with w NBA, you don't know.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
That right or United Health or whatever it is on
the front right. So the only sport really that I
can think of that hasn't been really hit up by
ads like that, at least on the uniform is the NFL,
and I think one day it's going to happen. So
your precious NFL uniforms, which are already advertisements for Nike,

(11:35):
they have a Nike logo on all of them. Uh,
They're going to have some type of ads on them
in the future too. It's just a matter of it's
just slow and incremental increases. So get used to these,
you know, ads being pretty much everywhere. The next thing
that I've noticed is a little bit of a slightly
tweaked stage for Raw with some people behind it. I

(11:56):
don't know if that's gonna be the case every week.
I was just a setup for this particular arena. The
same goes for the big circular video screen at the
top of the arena that's an into a dome exclusive.
You know, we're not going to see that every week.
That's that Dome's jumbo tron, and it's very that's the
arena just opened like an August something like that, so

(12:18):
so don't expect that every week. But the stage and
people behind it, thoughts.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
I like the Ascetic reminds me of you know, what
they do with the roar of Rumble now even Summer Slam,
you know, having the entrance way there, Superstar comes out
and you see them like look around, but you see
people behind them. I mean, like, I think it just
looks really cool. It looks so much better. It looks
like a real event, not like an overproduced manufacturer type thing,

(12:48):
even though that's it really is, but it gives you
the impression that it's not. And I like that it
even in like regular sports, I just like the way
stadiums look for like soccer match is obviously football games
stuff like that. It just gives me that feel, and
I think it looks even better, you know, if you
have a screen there, like a smaller led screen that

(13:11):
goes left and right however many feet you want, and
then above it or the people. I mean to me,
that's a twenty twenty five book.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
And I also just I don't need.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
The big big screens anymore.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
No, just have people. You have so many people there,
it looks like it's lit. It looks like a happening
when you just have a bunch of people instead of
like massive stages like I think. And that's another Evince
thing that went out the windows. It's like vinces like
it needs to be grand, needs to look like this,
look like that. It's like, or just bring in more
people and it looks dope just off the esthetic alone.

(13:44):
We don't even need the big stage, so I'm glad
that's kind of going by the wayside a little bit.
And of course, you know, the more people in the building,
more money you make, so you get that another aesthetic change.
When we notice for the match which was Roman Range
vers Solos and Tribal Combat, was new referee shirts. They're

(14:07):
like a dark gray with like a w W logo
on the left side with two black stripes going through it. Uh,
it's a it's a clean look, but better than to me,
to me than the stripes because the stripes they just looked.
I don't know, there's a kind of corny for I know,
that's like the like typical referee look. It's the stripes.
But you look, think about other sports. How many other

(14:28):
sports have actual stripes on their officials, hockey and what.
I don't know, you think of anything else. Basketball doesn't,
Baseball doesn't, soccer doesn't, ll football, football stripes.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Elastic sports. They they have the striped uniforms, the WWE
New Rep uniforms. I thought they were cool, understated, you know. Uh,
but my daughter hates them. Why she as soon as

(15:05):
she saw them and she was like, they are so ugly.
I hate it.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
Wow, I don't know why it needs those two random
stripes logo and the polo. I like the polo look.
I always thought it reminds me of the SmackDown ones
from what two thousand and three, two thousand and four, hopefully,
I mean as we record this NXT, they have the

(15:31):
same shirts, so it makes me think we'll see the
same one SmackDown. But I mean a blue SmackDown refshut
would be awesome. And but yeah, I don't know. Those
two stripes are the thing that's kind of making it
less than one hundred percent for me. I'm not all in,
oh man, get rid of those stripes. Why why we
need two stripes randomly?

Speaker 1 (15:53):
I don't know this this is a design touch.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Or stand why we need that.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
I don't It doesn't make a difference to me. I'm
not I'm not crazy about them, but I'm not saying
you either.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
That's kind of how I feel as well, you know
what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
I'm kind of I mean different.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
They're like gray, which is like I guess it's what
they're supposed to be, kind of supposed to just be
in the background, not be of a color. I guess
it's just gray, like you're not even really supposed to
notice them.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
So I thought black would be fine.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
I think black would be fine too, I agree with you.
I think blue. I think if they went black for
raw and blue for SmackDown, and I don't know what
color would you go for NXT. I guess I don't
know if you want to go over gray because they don't.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
Happen white yellow, remember the w W Reugh shirts not from.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
Two thousand and one, not from the Invasion. I guess
you could go white either way. I think it'd be
cool to have different colors for each brand and kind
of further distinguishes each brand. But having a neutral color
for each brand is fine. But the next thing we're
go into is pretty much what this show was was

(17:07):
just ww flexing its muscles for three hours, and they
sprinkled in some wrestling matches because the WWPR machine was
on full go okay, they unleashed the entire machine on
this night. We started off the show with a rock
coming out. You know it's the final. Boss comes out
with his sparkly vest and his People's championship. He hugs
his family at ringside, hands his belt off to his

(17:29):
kids and kisses his mom, and he kicks a bunch
of hands and he gets into the ring and he
thinks all the rich people will help make it happen.
They go all the Netflix executives. You need to be
mentioned in the opening promo. Thank you to you, and
thank you to you, and thank you to you and
thank you and thank you.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
No one knows, No, it was no pop for them, Like,
who cares?

Speaker 1 (17:52):
These are the people they have to think, Man, you
gotta take care of the people who are paying y'all.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
I dig it, but they already paid me.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
Thank him again.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
Negotiations They're like, listen their first episode, we all need
to be shout out. Look.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
I would not be surprised. I would not be surprised
either that came from Netflix or that came from WW,
Like you better thank them, like thinking by name too,
Like obviously that was top of mind her WW because
it's the first thing they did after Triple As came
out and gave another monologue.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
That's not as annoying as the pros ae W promos
and AW like all the wrestlers doing that. I'm tired
of that. It's like, okay, twenty twenty five.

Speaker 2 (18:39):
Now, I don't think. I don't think when AW Dynamite
goes to Max, I don't think uh Con is going
to go out there and think the HBO Max. He
might before the start of Dynamite.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
He should have some superstar do it.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
Honestly, Tony Con should think HBO Max for giving AW
bunch of money. Yes he should. Yes, if I'm Tony Con.
First thing I'm doing on HBO. It's like, thank you HBO, whoever,
whoever the people are. I gotta think individually, I will
thank them you damn right. That's the first time when
istime this pay this, payout for anything. Never So yes,
thank you HBO.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
I understand, I understand what you're saying. I get it.
But no, let's get that. That's a waste of time.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
That's I feel.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
If I'm a W, I'm definitely doing WW. Get over it.
We're done. We already know who just people like, we
already know what happened. You're making a ton of money.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
We get it, making a ton of money, and we
gotta and we gotta go back to the renegotiating table
in ten years, like I'll thank you then when we
get back to the table.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
Well, I think there's a I think there's an option
that I think after.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
Five I think, oh yeah, I believe.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
So that's thank them.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
Okay, But you know, these things get worked out pretty quickly.
They're probably re upp for.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
Like, uh, you know, we're good.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
I just I don't know. Things could change, obviously, but
they'll probably just be up again. But speaking of WW
making a lot of money, they also announced the Rock
announce that they broke another arena gate record. Yay, they
spent They've charged people more money than ever. Again. They've

(20:25):
done this like no less than a half dozen times
in the last year. It feels like.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
It's gonna be very funny when like they can't make
those but like.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
They will because they just charge more money.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
It's like when people are not going to pay, you
would think you would think in the audience that next
it's just they're showing them on TV.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
But you would think that at some point that people
will be priced out right, they just can't keep raising
these prices. But there's enough people out there somehow that's
willing to spend the money. Bro Like the super Bowl
sells out every year, and maybe that'll way that's the
way like a WrestleMania will go where they'll it won't
be Joe blow fan, you know, going to the games,
don't go to the WrestleMania anymore. You know, maybe taking

(21:18):
their kids, even if they live in the city. It's
gonna be maybe companies and the same way the super
Bowl works. It's probably how WrestleMania is going to go.
And I don't for the rest far as the rest
of the shows. I don't know, but I just feel
like we'll see how that happens. Obviously, eventually ww's running
success probably will slow down at some point, you would think.
Obviously that's not their intention. They want this to keep going,

(21:39):
but chances are things might slow down a little bit,
and maybe the pricing will come back down to earth
when they need people to come back to the buildings
because they're not coming through as much. But for right now,
they're going to keep doing it because they keep selling
out these shows and breaking these gate records and all
that stuff. So uh, but more about the WWPR machine

(22:00):
is that say something.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
About real quick about the gate I love how in
price conference and then and then the opening like opening
video montage triple h is a fun believer and not
insulting the audience intelligence. And then they turn right around

(22:23):
and congratulate the audience for making them richer, which is
an insult to our intelligence. Congratulations, just gave us a
bunch of money.

Speaker 1 (22:33):
Congratulate people for being a part of history for the
next two months because they're gonna probably break record. They're
gonna probably break the record in Europe. Sometimes when I
hate that.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
So much, you you gave us a bunch of money.

Speaker 1 (22:47):
Congrats, get out of here. Speaking of Triple A. So
he did mention in his uh like opening video. They
talked about a lot about like baby faces and heels
and the story and stuff like that. And I'm sure
the old time is well upset about that breaking k
f kid. People don't care, bro, Netflix don't care. They
give him a whole bunch of money.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
So Netflix don't even know where k Fabe is. And
k Fabe was broken. The guy who runs the company
now broke k Fabe in nineteen ninety six, Get over it.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Yeah, he's one of the people who put the you know,
initial damage to the k Fabe for sure. But more
back to the WWPR machine and that wwe invited every
single celebrity they could think of, and obviously you know
Nick con and Endeavor to Ko whatever whatever you want

(23:43):
to call it. They have a lot of connections to Hollywood,
so they called it. They used the phone, they used
the roller decks and said who can we invite? Who
can we give free tickets to? Who can show off
on TV to say that they were at this show?
I mean they had who didn't they have? I saw
Kevi on stage at the show.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
The horses, he was Boo and Hogan.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
I mean, so was everybody else but Seth Green was
there and that's the Hudgens. Tiffany Hattis was there. It
was so many people there, and that's just a couple
got the biggest pop of the night.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
The biggest pop of the night. That was so smooth.
How he he's just so camera ready. He had his
head down, he had the hat and then he lifted
his head up. The crowd went crazy. That was so tough.
I marked out.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
As Kevin McAllister right there, Bro mccullar. Cochin, let's go
shout out to Cocain.

Speaker 3 (24:37):
The Hango was there, which is hilarious because Will Friedle
was right next to her. They did not introduce him
at all.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
Eric, my guy, Eric, who was the funniest guy on
the show, by the way.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
I was like, Eric Matthews, isn't that the guy he's
also on?

Speaker 2 (24:54):
Right?

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Yeah, yeah, so yeah. The Panga was there. She also
hates New Day by the way. She also thinks they suck.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
The funny thing for me was when they showed to Paga.
They wound up showing Sean Waltman and Naomi and the
Korda Kaya No, beyond the bell, Yes, and it was
they were right in front of them. So they waited
a little bit and then so they showed four people
and will Fradel was like, not one of all.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
Man, it was those shots weren't smooth. They would like
skip around people, and they shot Sean Waltman. Then they
went somewhere else and they went back to Sean Waltman.
Right at one point, it was as much as they've
done this in the past, it's not like they haven't
done these before where they show people in the crowd.
You know, obviously they're not sitting in the crowd the
whole time. They usher them out, they set them down,
they do the quick thing, Hey everybody, I'm sitting here,

(25:45):
and then they go backstage again. But they've done that
so many times. It's how can run it down because
they do it pretty much with all the big shows,
even back when Vince was running the show, they would
do it in the next they would do it, you know,
whatever celebrity would show up. This is not a new thing,
and yet on Netflix they were these were tough to watch.
The times these were uh, you know, a little wonky.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
Sean Waltman, the Shawn Waltman shot. I see why they
went back to Shawn. The first shot didn't do him
justice because they popped and then they went immediately off
of him, and then they went back to him to
give him his love. So I get that it was
a little it was botched, but I get it. I
understand that Sean Waltman, that is X pop. You're going
to show the proper respect.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
You gotta get it right the first time. Lead let
it linger, don't go aways for him so fast messing up.

Speaker 2 (26:34):
But they had he had the Tag team Champions sitting
right next to him, and they saw half of them
in that initial shot. So they had to pan over
to him and then we'll get back to you. You're
not active, hold.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
On second.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
Or you frame it better start off with the taxing champs.
Didn't pand over to Walman. WoT that.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
I didn't understand. It was botched, but.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
And it's better.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
Mm hmmm.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
What happened last night?

Speaker 2 (27:04):
They have that get leaf Fitting out of here. He's
doing the terrible job.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
I mean, there's a lot of things going on about
leaf Fitting, that a lot of things being reported that
might get him out of here. Anyway, So don't worry
about that. But it may not. You don't know. But yeah,
those camera shots a little rough. But among the celebrities
that were there was Travis Scott, you know, super famous

(27:30):
rapper and all that. Uh, he was there, but he
wasn't alone. He brought a little He brought a friend
named Reefer with him too. Nah, he brought He had
that reefer on him, as my mom would call her
back in.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
The day, he brought the Devil's letters.

Speaker 1 (27:47):
But the devil's letters you got, boy, you got that
reef on you. You smell like reef. And I say
that as a joke, but like, no, he was seriously,
if you didn't watch the show, where were you? He
had it smack in his hand on the camera. It
wasn't like he there's a puff of smoke in the
area and he was hiding it. He held it up
for everybody to see.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
It was definitely late.

Speaker 4 (28:11):
Man, literally and poor jus.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
So my man got priors. He can't get it.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
If you saw the post show, he and then like, yo,
next time, like give me a hit. He said that paraphrasing.
I don't remember the exact phrase, but they mentioned it
on the post show kind.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
Of Joe tested tour was like, you were kind of
close to it. He was like I was, I was
too close. I gotta go to work.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
Yeah yeah, because you know it was excessively loud. I'm sure.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
Oh facts the stick.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
So you know. And they're in California, which is a
legal state, illegally allowed to partake. He just indoors on TV.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
It's crazy.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
This is we talked about. They're not going back to
their attitude there. They love their family, family friendly product.
They're gonna keep that. That's what Triple A has been
saying all along too. And then here comes Travis Scott
with the Devil's letters, hold him up for everybody to see,
like the lion king, like a symbol.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
It did have elements of attitude era of course you
got the weed smoking. And then the Rock says some
had some colorful language in his uh in his set
and uh, and of course they don't. They don't edit
the crowds love for Solo so CoA anymore.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
They got a f you Solo chant uninterrupted uncensored, which
is look, USA, they gotta worry about the sec Netflix
apparently does not listen to nothing, so they let those Flos.
Speaking of Rock, we gotta go back to this for
a second. Uh, him and Cody Rose at Homies.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
Now that's why Yeah, that's why. You when when when
you said final Boss roped, I was like, that's the Wayne,
that's fair, that's not the final Boss at all.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
Goofball till a little bit because he's just standing there
in the crowd, Like why was.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
He just standing there sitting all the way back there?

Speaker 3 (30:26):
Put him on camera and the Rocks like, right there
is Cody Roads were like wait what and then he's
just like.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
I was put that was funny. I thought that was hilarious.
What is Cody just doing there standing there in this
three p suit?

Speaker 3 (30:41):
Right?

Speaker 1 (30:42):
What what's going on here?

Speaker 3 (30:43):
And the champions didn't have their belts they should have
their belts with him.

Speaker 1 (30:47):
It was it was just odd. There's a lot of
odd stuff happening on the show. Speaking of odd, though,
it wasn't really odd. It's just honestly, it was not
at all. It was a high point of the show
for a lot of people. It was the last celebrity
appearance that I can think of on this show. Was
I mean, not really a celebrity, but he kind of
is he's the biggest wrestling star you know, the last

(31:09):
fifty years. Arguably it's haw Hogan came out. Oh he's
a real American. He came out with Jimmy Hart. Yeah, baby,
real Americans right here, baby, let me wave this flag around.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
Baby.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
He waved his flag around and then promoting his beer,
and haw Hogan cupped his put his hand to his
ear to cup it. And what did he hear?

Speaker 4 (31:29):
Thunderous booze, damn tragic, tragic, hilarious.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
Originally I was like, not sure if I was hearing
it correctly, so I went to Twitter and lo and behold.
Everybody's like, oh, oh gos, goet mood, Oh gods, get mood.
I'm like, this is amazing.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
You weren't the only one. And the close caption of
the Netflix captured it all. The closed captioning captured it all.
It's said, crowd booing, crowd booing.

Speaker 2 (32:04):
Netflix gives no. I love that. We We ain't added
in this out. We were not silencing the crowd. We're
letting this rock out. And it was great to see. Yeah,
people somewhere laughing his ass off.

Speaker 3 (32:23):
Bro, Like it's the song that's over, you know. That's
why people were cheering the song is still a banger,
but no one care for him.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
Then they saw Hogan barely trot his way out.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
Oh my god, he couldn't go to the ring.

Speaker 1 (32:38):
I mean, it's sad to watch. Honestly. I'm not saying
to make fun of him. It's tough to watch. He
shouldn't be out there, honestly. Uh, maybe he wants to
go out there, you know, to show that he can
still do it. But like, it's all.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
Right, you sit down somewhere, Jimmy, Jimmy was moving. Jimmy
was moving.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
How about Jimmy Hart jumping up and down? Come on,
come on, I mean, honestly, he still sounds like that.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
Into a dot.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
Then he heard the reaction and back right on up.

Speaker 3 (33:09):
Oh Imagine'm just like tossing the flag to Hogan like
I ain't holding it.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
I have been boots, his mephis back in the day. Baby,
Jimmy Hall, don't get booed no more. That's crazy. What
came out with Brett still jumping that's funny, still jumping
up and down, waving that damn flax, still hanging out
with Hogan, to still hanging out with Hogan, say about
Jimmy Hart at some at some point hanging out with you.

Speaker 2 (33:37):
Listen, no, Jimmy Hart, slander will be tolerated.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
A big character flaw. And where was Brett? Come on?
Should turn on? Hogan and Jimmy going with Brett have
been great.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
It's a big character that's really funny. But you know
it's it's something you have to ponder at some point. Also,
Hogan was here to promote this beer. Based on the name,
it sounds like it's going to be the most generic
beer of all time. No, like, there's no flavor whatsoever,

(34:14):
just a straight classic beer you get out of the
ice box back.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
In the eighties, unapologetically American. What does that mean?

Speaker 1 (34:22):
What does that mean? So it's tasteless what you're telling me?
There's no flavor, it's unreal.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
We didn't get a Kid Rock appearance.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
Oh man, be glad that didn't happen.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
Oh yeah, for sure.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
Why do you? Why are you even bringing him up here?

Speaker 3 (34:43):
Because it made me think of the bud Light thing.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
He would have got booded too, by the way they got.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
Bood Kid Rock drinking a real American beer, like apologetically American.
I'm not going to shoot this beer.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
Imagine had Kid Rock performing like they would do all
the other times that.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
I honestly thought they would, Like Vince.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
McMahon had him performing a like WrestleMania in twenty eighteen
or something like that. It's like nobody came to see this.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
Bro, he says, every celebrity there's no talents. They probably
invited him. Maybe he couldn't make it good.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
Is facing off page as we speak, Oh man, look
at ethan page coming up in the game.

Speaker 3 (35:20):
Rock's got his belt, he does have his money, gave
it two kids.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
He took it back from his kids. The people's champ.
That's the people's champ.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
Muhammad Ali's widow gave me this belt. You better give
it back.

Speaker 1 (35:35):
Give it back now. Hard to work for this, all right?
Moving on, speaking of the Rock, let's get to his
family having tribal combat. Let's get to the wrestling stuff
on the show. We had a lot of wrestling stuff
on the show too. Again. Opening match of the Netflix era,
as they're calling it, Roman Reigns defeating Solo so Code

(35:57):
to be once again become the tribal chief. Roman Reins
looks like it's moving on to other things as far
as storyline, wise. But any thoughts about the opening match
here Roman Reins beating Solo so CoA.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
No, okay, I will say I think the overbooked thing
was fun. Still. You know, there's certain matches where it works,
and I think it works for those types of matches.

Speaker 1 (36:30):
It typically does work for Roman Rains matches. Yeah, somehow, even.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
Though Kevin Owen's showed up as a surprise to me,
I was like, oh it was I think Cody would
come out sooner.

Speaker 1 (36:41):
But but notice they still haven't had Owens interact with
Sammy's Ayr. They somehow manasics still keep them apart, and
I don't know how much longer that's going to last.
I feel like maybe in the Rumble they finally cross
paths and we get something between them. But we'll see,
We'll see how it goes. But Brian, any thoughts on

(37:03):
tribal combat between Roman Reigns and Solo Socor.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
I think it was a great way to start the
Netflix era. I think it was a good match. I
was cracking up when Solo kept saying I loved you,
I loved you. I would have followed you that. It
was just just so over dramatic with the with the

(37:28):
acting and all that, but it's funny to me, and
of course Jacob fa too is hilarious without even trying
to be. I. I like the match. I'm glad that
that rooman one. I was surprised there wasn't any shenanigans
going on. I thought there was gonna be some kind

(37:50):
of turn somewhere, but it didn't happen. But I wasn't
upset about that either. Overall, it was a good match
and it was a great way to start the show.

Speaker 1 (37:59):
He speaking of you, you got the Rock coming out
after the match, and I think this is what everybody expected,
some shenanigans. Right when the Rock comes out, no music
just walks out, very serious.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (38:11):
Paul Hammond was tasked with putting replacing the La falla
onto the winner's you know head, and whether it's solo
or Roman Reigns, turned out to be Roman Rain. So
he's preparing to do it. The Rock comes out and
he says, you know, give me the la fallow, I'll
do it. The Rock does it, acknowledges Roman Rains, gives

(38:31):
him the big predator handshake back into the corner and
lets Roman Reigns has his time, So no new developments.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
There literally, but was it his time? Everyone was staring
at the Rock.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
Because we were waiting for him to do something and
he didn't, So.

Speaker 3 (38:47):
Like, was it Romans Spotlight? I feel like it wasn't.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
It was supposed to be.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
I guess it on purpose.

Speaker 1 (38:57):
I don't know, but they before they, you know, the Rock,
kind of stepped back and let Roman takes in a stage.
They did have a long stare down nothing. I don't
remember anything being said, but yeah, I don't know the
hell's gonna happen with that, But Nick, any thoughts on
tribal combat and then post match as well.

Speaker 3 (39:17):
Kind of what I expected. I didn't expect any turns
or anything, but once the Rock came out, I did,
so I almost felt like let down a little bit.
If only makes me think maybe the Rock's not gonna
be a Wrestlemannia. So it just doesn't make sense when
you're in Vegas if you don't do Roman Rock. But
I guess they don't want to like breeze through it

(39:41):
as quick. Maybe there's more to this story that we
don't know yet obviously, but I'm more thinking if Solo
falls in the line quote unquote, if Jacob doesn't we
kind of just go Roman Jacob up from here, And uh,

(40:02):
I don't know, if you're not going to do Roman Rock,
I think that's what you do to keep Roman, Like,
I don't know, interesting because what else would we wanted
for not getting Roman Rock?

Speaker 1 (40:16):
You know, I mean the backup, a good backup playing
could be Roman and see him punk.

Speaker 3 (40:21):
Oh yeah, but then that's all.

Speaker 1 (40:26):
Yeah. I mean, I have no issues with that, especially
if you know Roman Reigns gets a title back maybe potentially,
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (40:33):
But that's the thing. Like, I guess it's too early
to tell, obviously, but if I just thought they were
gonna have Punk at that moment with like maybe a
title win in the main event, and I don't see
him doing that with Roman, So I don't know. I'm
not like mad about it. I just I don't know.

(40:54):
I guess I gotta say.

Speaker 1 (40:55):
More time will tell. Uh No, clear absolute clear path
from the Rains as far as storyline purposes. But we
kind of got a good idea of the video game
wise what he's going to be up to, because later
in the night he was seen filming or we saw
a commercial for WW two K twenty five, which is

(41:18):
coming out in January. They released some screenshots earlier today,
and the assumption is that because Roman Rains in the
commercial and the first promotional material for the game, is
that he's gonna be on the covers. I don't think
they've released a cover yet, not that I've seen. I
can look again, but when they release a cover, safe

(41:41):
bet is that Roman Rain's gonna be featured prominently on it. So,
speaking of featured prominently prominently, John Cena came out next,
and you can expect to see a lot of him
over the next twelve months because this is his retirement tour.
This is it. His time is up, as he says.

(42:03):
And he came out and said he's declaring, I do
declare for the Royal Rumble. But not only did it declare,
he said he's going to win the whole thing. And
I believe him. Do you believe in Brian? Do you
believe in Joe Hendry and in John Cena?

Speaker 2 (42:22):
I don't believe in either, but I believe I believe
that John Cena, unfortunately will win the Royal Rumble.

Speaker 1 (42:34):
Nick Ain't nobody got time for that.

Speaker 3 (42:37):
Oh okay, now you know what I clicked the wrong thing.
I didn't mean that because and I went to my
mouse was obviously something different, and I went on meet myself.
But I do think that Scena wins. I don't mind
the story if they do, you know, Sena Cody, as

(42:57):
long as I don't know, I mean, it's a good
pro wrestling angle. I liked what theyre I like what
they do with sting in a w Jeff Jards, you know,
retirement angle and John Cena is retiring an angle. I
like that they're doing this and not just like it's

(43:17):
almost like, uh, I don't I don't know, I don't
have the word for it, but I feel like we
haven't seen this so like at all with like wrestling legends,
and I feel like, as long as scene it could
still go, why not give them that spot? Why not?
I don't I mean break the record, Like we don't
need Reclaire to hold the record. Man break the record.

(43:40):
So I'm just kind of there, like whatever, Scenic could
get that world title and then kind of hold it
for a couple of months and see what happens. Maybe
Roman beats them. I don't know, but I.

Speaker 1 (43:52):
Think to your point, though I do agree in that
he will win the world Rumble, and also in that
this is a unique set of circumstances, a unique opportunity

(44:13):
for WW and telling a retirement story well, which usually
they don't really get told well. And let you know,
even Rick Fleis's retirement story kind of got you know,
running to the ground because he unretired so quickly, and
then that didn't really last that long. This is a
full year, and it's und like this is a stipulation
hanging over his head to where if he loses, he's done.

(44:33):
He's just going to wrestle the whole year. So that
means he can win and lose and he's still going
to keep going. So for me, there's a lot of
opportunity with that, including having him win the Rumble and
whether he faces Gunther or Cody, regardless to me, he
loses that match, and then in the midst of him,
you know, losing, he has to now start over and

(44:56):
maybe by the maybe by Summer Slam, maybe you give
him the title and maybe give number seventeen. Because I
agree with you, I think he should also break the record.
I think that'd be a nice little milestone of him
as he rides off into the sunset, and of course
he will eventually lose his last match. I think he
should lose his last match at the end of the year.
But I think winning the Rumble, starting off on his high,
he feels like, oh I'm back, I'm just like I'm

(45:16):
the old days. And then he gets beat in that
big moment and it's like, well, maybe you're not quite
that good. But maybe they drag it out, you know,
maybe he doesn't win the Rumble, maybe he has to
go through the Elimination Chamber. Because I think he's going
to appear at the Elimination Chamber, so maybe they drag
it out to that, to that show, and that's how
he gets his opportunity. Either way, I think I think
we can probably put him in this championship match in WrestleMania,

(45:37):
I think, but one day he will lose. That's how
I would book it at least. But yeah, John Cena
does declare for the Roar of Rumble. Also declaring making
declarations is Logan Paul, who says he's going to be
a full time wrestler. Now, he's gonna in a full
time wrestling business.

Speaker 3 (45:56):
Now.

Speaker 1 (45:57):
Ted Turner will say, and what that means to me
is that he's probably gonna win the World Championship in
twenty twenty five. Don't be surprised if he doesn't.

Speaker 3 (46:06):
Just like, you know, we want to beat sena West match.

Speaker 1 (46:10):
Oh, that would be heat for that.

Speaker 2 (46:13):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (46:14):
That's a lot of heat on Logan Paul.

Speaker 2 (46:16):
Oh man, that's perfect though. I think that's perfect is
his heat for Paul? Super heat for Paul. That's a
crazy way for John cenen to grow out. And Paul
will brag about that all the way into twenty twenty six.

Speaker 3 (46:33):
For the rest of his career. Yeah, yeah, it'll be
twenty forty eight. He'd be like I retired John c I.

Speaker 2 (46:41):
Retired John. Look at the Look at what happened with
the Street with how much heat brought. God, I beat
the Street. It was heat for a very long time
after that. I could be the same. They could be
the same type of heat for Logan Paul. If that happens,
if it's booked that way.

Speaker 1 (47:01):
Well we'll see. But regardless, he is a full time
wrestling now, so we're gonna see him a lot more.
If you don't like him before, well I got bad.
I'm afraid I've got to bad news for you. It's
gonna be around a lot more.

Speaker 2 (47:16):
I actually love the guy. I think he's tremendous in
the ring.

Speaker 1 (47:20):
He is tremendous and that also makes people upset. Like
you said in this from he is really good in
the ring. But while Logan Paul may win a world
title on twenty twenty five, we've already crowned a new
world champion in twenty twenty five. Her name is Rea Ripley,
as she defeated Live Morgan for the Women's World Championship
on Raw this past Monday night, and she also got

(47:42):
a chance to do the rip tide to Dominic Mysterio,
that dirt bag Dominic Mysterio. As Pat McAfee would say,
I think the outcome was pretty you know, well known.
I think in advance, I think most people can can
guess that very Ripley's finally gonna get back the title
that she technically never lost. Also, as a quick aside,

(48:04):
this is gonna be Babyface Day and Wrestling. This is
WW putting all their top stars on the pedestal on
the forefront, making them all look strong, giving you Roman Reigns,
giving you the rock, obviously giving you a sena setting
next stage. Got a thing for Logan Paul and top
women's star. Right now, rear Ripley, she is your women's
world champion. Look how look how cool she is? So

(48:26):
another aspect of that babyface mania here on the first
Netflix edition of Raw. What's next for rear Ripley though,
and she moves forward as women's World champion.

Speaker 3 (48:40):
That's tough because their people are just gonna be like,
oh Charlotte, But I mean Chardi beat Charlotte. Schlready had that.
So maybe Becky.

Speaker 1 (48:48):
Did that last year though, just did that, Yeah, it
just did debt.

Speaker 3 (48:53):
But they she did Charlotte too, So I don't know.

Speaker 1 (48:56):
So and Charlotte. To me, this is just my speculation.
I feel like Charlotte's being saved with Tiffany Stratton. Yes,
that's just my guess. To me, if Charlott's gonna do anything,
she would completely change her character. I would. I'm done
with the whole Rick Flair stuff. To me, for Charlotte,
I would completely reboot the character. Maybe that's what they're

(49:17):
gonna do. I don't know, but I to me, I
just I wouldn't want her to come back and be
just the queen and wearing the road was all over again.
Just like it's twenty eighteen all over again. We've been here,
done that. Let's kind of progress.

Speaker 2 (49:30):
What do you do? What do you do? Do you
do a complete one? Like from from from hugger to villain?
Like do you do? Do you go that route?

Speaker 1 (49:39):
Like how do you something anything? Anything to me? She
can't be Rick Flair forever. She has to do something
else to carve her own lane. She can't just consistently
walk in his shadow. It's worked out for it, don't
gonna be wrong. She's she's made a lot of money,
she's won a lot of titles. But it's just like,
for how long until we he kind of starts?

Speaker 2 (50:02):
You know.

Speaker 1 (50:02):
Roman Reigns became a much bigger star when he got
rid of the shield garb and became the tribal chief, right, okay,
like eventually you gotta shift gears at some point. So
that's just my aside for Charlotte.

Speaker 2 (50:17):
But but but that that okay, that's a that's a
good example. But it's kind of not too because the
shield Roman Reigns was forced on us and we ain't liking,
like he had to change for us to liking.

Speaker 1 (50:30):
There's a lot of people who don't like Charlotte because
he's forced on them. Really yeah, she's like super Seena.
They say the same thing about Bianca butlair, which is
hilarious to me, but that she's too protected and that
she's gonna come back and instantly win another world title,
which has happened a lot with Charlotte, Like there's no
evidence to support this. My thing is she just needs depth,

(50:55):
she needs something else. Becky Lynch shifted gears, Bailey shifted
the gears. Real Ripley made massive shifts in her character
over the years. At some point, everybody has to hit
a different note. The only person that could. Even John
Cena changed. He didn't change, He hadn't changed for a
long time. But even he went from the rapping dugnomics

(51:16):
dude to you know, each your vitamins to say your
prayers kind of guy. So everybody has to come shift
at some point. I'm just waiting for it. For Charlotte.
I hope, I hope it happens. So at some point.

Speaker 2 (51:28):
Okay, that's fair, that's fair. I just think she's one
of the best to ever do it in ring.

Speaker 1 (51:33):
She's great. That's why I hope it happens, because I
don't want it to be just one note. I think
she has more to offer besides being the queen.

Speaker 3 (51:42):
Okay, yeah, that's it, I think for fans and maybe
like me, and what you're saying is, Okay, Charlotte comes
back and she'll eventually win a world title again, But
what will that character be? Will it be more of
the same old or will it be something new we
can kind of get behind and you know the John
Cena did the way other uh superstars did, Becky Lynch,

(52:05):
you said, Rya, that's I kind of like. I think
you make a good point that we've seen Charlotte Flair
like now anything else, Like if she comes back as
the same character, then it's just more of the same.
And twenty twenty five, I don't know if that's gonna hit.

Speaker 1 (52:25):
It might in the beginning, you know, Hey, Charlotte's back, yay, but.

Speaker 3 (52:30):
For a rumble appearance maybe, But at some point we
got to get TV somewhere else to WrestleMania. Then people
get like, all right, I'm tired of this already unless
there's something new.

Speaker 1 (52:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (52:40):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (52:40):
Back to Ria Ripley though, for me, if if you're
asking me what I would do pie in the sky,
what I would do. It's real Ripley versus Bianca, Butla,
that's the last really big match you can do amongst
the current talent. I mean, I guess you could throw
Tiffany Stratten in there, because she's kind of coming up
right now too. But that pop, man, she got a

(53:01):
pop like everywhere she goes she gets a big pop
like that too. It's hard.

Speaker 3 (53:06):
Makes me wonder if people think she's bring a carpenter.

Speaker 2 (53:10):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (53:11):
Always they keep.

Speaker 1 (53:13):
Cheering once they say Tiffy time so But to me,
rear Ripley and Bianca has to happen at some point
at a WrestleMania. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. They've
done a good job of keeping them completely separate for
many years. I think it's time. What's next for Live
Morgan now? She's held that title for a long time,

(53:33):
She's been in the main events scene for a long time.
She's been part of the Judgment Day now for a
long time. She's she's had a year in twenty twenty
four into twenty twenty five. What's next for Live Morgan now?

Speaker 3 (53:48):
Yeah, I think that's a little silence shows.

Speaker 2 (53:54):
I don't I don't know where they go and live.
I was kind of digging the whole bench tour and
all that, but now that looks like it's over. I
don't know where they go from here. That's why they
get paid the big bucks. That's why Netflix is paying
them to figure all that stuff out, because I sure
as hell don't know.

Speaker 1 (54:14):
Yeah, I would assume that, Uh, the judgment day kind
of dissolves maybe or like maybe she kind of dumps
Dom Mysterio now because she doesn't have the championship anymore.
So maybe he's she is using them and now she
dumps them and starts a new chapter. Maybe make up

(54:35):
he did right away. It would get heat on Dom
to dump her, so yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (54:44):
It's Dom loves heat.

Speaker 1 (54:47):
Yeah, give it to him. So he break up what
you already cheated on real real Ripley cheat on, you know,
lift Morgan to make them bigger. You started already wiling,
you might as well keep wiling hand keep cheating all

(55:09):
these beautiful women. It happens in real life.

Speaker 3 (55:12):
By the way, Roxanne gets the call up and Don
starts flaying with her.

Speaker 1 (55:21):
And being trash to her being trifling all over again.

Speaker 2 (55:25):
It was me.

Speaker 1 (55:26):
I called him trifling dom, not dirty. I know, alliteration,
but I'm from Southwest Philly trifling dom if you ask me.
Also among the wrestling happenings, we got Jay Usso coming
out with Travis Scott with you know, when you're smoking
the Devil's lettuce. Uh ju So, like he said, it

(55:47):
was a little close to that, but he I guess
it helped him because he got a surprise win over
Dream McIntyre. You know, being in such close proximity too
to the the reefer. Maybe, you know, maybe it helped.
Who knows, But like I said, the babyface is are
winning because you so. Beating j McIntyre was not necessarily

(56:09):
on my Bengo card, but here it is, uh not
sure right even.

Speaker 2 (56:13):
Forward they did it right though, with the with the
with the roll up, with the yes quick pick like
that they did it right.

Speaker 3 (56:20):
Yeah, and that you're like chasing right after him.

Speaker 2 (56:23):
Yeah, they make Drew look weak, so that that was cool.
I was cool with that.

Speaker 3 (56:30):
Yeah. I mean that that entrance gets like more and
more over every single week, you know, like it does
Jay Usa win a world title in twenty twenty five?

Speaker 1 (56:39):
Oh good question? And he probably will challenge for some more.
But I don't know if he wins it.

Speaker 3 (56:46):
If they keep up doing that entrance, I don't see
how you can't. Maybe not twenty twenty five, but like
if you can push it to twenty twenty six even
I don't if he keeps that momentum. I mean it's possible.

Speaker 1 (56:59):
It's tough, man. You got people like Gunt, you got Cody,
you got Roman, you got punk Seth, you got Drew,
you got Ko potentially bron Breaker at some point, potentially
Jacob Fat two at some point, maybe even sold so CoA.
There's a lot of people at the time of that car.
Probably could you the go around with that title? Jajus

(57:22):
is as over as any of them.

Speaker 3 (57:23):
Do they introduced a new world titles? They have three.

Speaker 1 (57:28):
Then maybe.

Speaker 3 (57:31):
The Raw on Netflix World Championship.

Speaker 2 (57:35):
Are you watching this Trick Williams entrance with the Muhammad
A Lee robe.

Speaker 1 (57:39):
On, Yeah, he's won the road before. I've seen him
wear the roade.

Speaker 3 (57:46):
That's Eagles Hall of Famer trick Williams Eagles Hall of Famer.
I was gonna say legend. I don't know why I
said Hall of Famer, but.

Speaker 1 (57:55):
You could just say the former Eagle, Well, legend maybe
rookie rookie camp legend Trick William. But he he was
in the camp, he was working out, So more power
to Trick William. He's hey, great wrestler, and probably we'll
be seeing him on the main roster in twenty twenty

(58:16):
five at some point, I hope. So I feel like
his time is coming pretty soon. You would think maybe
after wrestle Mania, after the WrestleMania weekend. You can see
that potentially happening for him before we get.

Speaker 2 (58:33):
Does he become a Royal Rumble participant?

Speaker 1 (58:36):
Good question, Hmm, they haven't. I mean, if he's still
the NXC champion by that point, which I don't know.
I guess he has the New Year's Evil title defense. Uh,
if he's still the NXC champion, maybe I guess right,
I guess I don't know. Good question, though, I can
see it happening, because you would think they're gonna sprinkle
in an NXC talent or two. It would make sense

(58:58):
to get somebody who's the next one to get called
up to the main roster, some main roster experience via
the Rumble. They've kind of done that already, like they
did that last year with Jordan Grace. Uh put it
out there with some of the main roster talents. So
let's see what happens in Indianapolis this year. Moving on elsewhere,
we got the New Day. Everyone hates the New Day.

(59:20):
Everybody hates the New Day, including to Panga, which is
like you turn to pang on damn. But they got
their link in too because they trolled La by saying
that Kenjrick Lamar was was a trash rapper, which is
a good way to get the heat in l A.
That's a good easy way to get some heat in LA,

(59:41):
especially with a certain gang in La. Man, you better
you better take kik yourselves out there.

Speaker 2 (59:52):
You think the bag gonna let you disrespect pop?

Speaker 1 (59:55):
Look, just take care of yourselves.

Speaker 2 (59:57):
You know.

Speaker 1 (59:57):
I'm sure they got out of town as soon as possible.

Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
They were on the Post Show and uh they were like,
now you have time for us, Well, we don't have
time for you. We got to catch a flight. They
were out.

Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
Listen and they should get heat. They should get heat
just off of Cody Kofy's facial hair.

Speaker 1 (01:00:20):
Good lord, you don't like the mustacheless look, I.

Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
Don't look, I don't like the beard. No step, come on, dog,
because weird. He look insane. Bro, you look like a.

Speaker 3 (01:00:31):
Hell yeah, exactly like you want to hate his face, Like.

Speaker 2 (01:00:38):
Yeah, I hate your face, bro, your face is yeah,
I would boo his face like they bog It was crazy,
dog like and I know that's he was thinking, like
what what what could be a great way for them
to even hate me even more? Shave my mustache and

(01:00:59):
keep my beard? This is this will work? It looks crazy.
No one would like me after they say he was right?

Speaker 1 (01:01:08):
God, the beard without the mustache is a choice. So
you don't have any hair in the front of the
chin neither, Like, yeah, I got a little bit of
hair in the front of the chin. I don't I
grow mustache only because I have a beard, honestly, like,
I don't want a mustache otherwise, just a stash.

Speaker 2 (01:01:26):
So listen, you can't like the stash has to come
with the beer. You just don't. Nobody wants to stash.
You got beer. It's a package deal. But the no
stash beard is what does a will mill say? That
is nasty work. That is crazy right there though, This

(01:01:49):
is filthy work.

Speaker 3 (01:01:50):
I shaved my mustache, I keep the hair on my chin,
and I have little hairs or my cheeks, my facial cheeks.
I mean I have errors there too, but that's not
what I'm talking about.

Speaker 1 (01:02:09):
Look, come on, I'm trying to let you slide with
the cheeks thing at first. No, you can't double down
on it. You can't.

Speaker 3 (01:02:20):
Just have to be clear for the audience.

Speaker 1 (01:02:22):
No, you didn't have to be that cud.

Speaker 3 (01:02:23):
Actually, I didn't want any one in this quote.

Speaker 1 (01:02:27):
I couldn't.

Speaker 3 (01:02:28):
I don't want to see my interview on Fight for
my quotes on flightful without context.

Speaker 1 (01:02:35):
The first time. And I was gonna let.

Speaker 2 (01:02:36):
You ride, all right? Why did you Why did you
keep going? We were gonna let it go. Why you go?

Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
You know Brian is here, you know, he quick with it.
He's letting you ride.

Speaker 2 (01:02:47):
Bro, I'm letting that ride. But come on, dog, what
do you do?

Speaker 3 (01:02:56):
We need to need to know, good.

Speaker 2 (01:03:02):
Man?

Speaker 1 (01:03:03):
What what's going on off the rails after that? That
is crazy?

Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
Like what Nick is crazy? Bro? Oh Man, all right,
I'm gonna I'm gonna go ahead and mute because I'm
gonna keep laughing.

Speaker 1 (01:03:29):
I'm just like, man, we was letting you ride, letting
you rock out Linstepper, habitual line stepper.

Speaker 3 (01:03:39):
Just don't want to be taken out of context.

Speaker 2 (01:03:42):
Oh man, all right, and it and it still was.
Please please move on.

Speaker 1 (01:03:53):
We got the main event on n x T. You
got over Femi and Williams, so maybe over will be
a new NXC champion by the end. Oh but speaking
of the main event, we got a main event of
the Netflix debut of Monday Night Raw. It is seam
Punk defeating Seth Rollins in the main event. After a

(01:04:13):
good match. Seampunk got out of the ring after the
match dedicated it to Chris Bay, who we haven't really
talked about in the podcast, but he's going through a
tough time injury wise, so I thought some prayers obviously
to Chris Bay. And I believe there is a a
Crouch funding effort being held for him as well, so

(01:04:35):
we can share that on the social I probably have
already on social platforms. If you haven't, go look for it.
I can't recall your off the top of my head,
but shout out to Chris Bay and Seeampunk dedicated the
match to him. But main event, Nick, what are your
thoughts about Seth Rollins and Steampunk in the main event?

Speaker 3 (01:04:59):
It was it was fine. I don't think it's gonna
be the only match. So I think it was a
fine ending. It wasn't bad. I like the kind of
callbacks Seampunk's gear and just you know Seth Hinton at

(01:05:20):
GTS a couple of times that was kind of neat.
Didn't uh you know expect that, uh see Punk going
for the curse was pretty neat. So yeah, I mean,
good match. It's one of those things. It always reminds
me of the first Back and Tire Punk match that
was like kind of a letdown because it was built
so well. I think this was similar, but it not.

(01:05:43):
It wasn't like as bad as the Back and Tire
Punk match at SummerSlam. Yeah, so I mean it was fine.
I don't have any strong feelings either way about it.
I think it was the right call to make that
the main event, because I don't know if the ending,

(01:06:04):
like if you had the Rock and solo at the
end and then the rock just you know, putting the
Wiloo follow on Rock or a Roman and just kind
of ending it that way. I don't know. I don't
know if that makes it a weird ending or not.
So I mean this was like the feel good ending,
I guess you could say. And I like that it

(01:06:26):
didn't go too much over eleven I think it was
eleven oh three that it went off the air, so
it wasn't hot too.

Speaker 1 (01:06:31):
It had a little bit of an overrun there.

Speaker 3 (01:06:34):
Yeah, and you know, I mean it was it was
a fine match. It wasn't like five stars, but it
wasn't one star.

Speaker 1 (01:06:43):
So anywhere between two and four.

Speaker 3 (01:06:46):
Sure, Sure, nothing like really stood out to be accept
The you know, attempts at the curb stop and the
GTSS and stuff like that, where you know, the near
falls and stuff. I thought that was cool, But again,
to me, it wasn't really about the wrestling like it
this night. You said it earlier. It's like the PR machine.

(01:07:10):
It was like w WPR event with matches sprinkled in
and that's kind of how I felt with every match,
even the Rea match. Exciting moments for sure, but you know, nothing,
no classics. So I'm going to make people will be like, yo,
you have to watch this again.

Speaker 1 (01:07:25):
It was like a showcase. It was a showcase of
the top stars. It was a showcase for Roman Rains,
It's a showcase for Ripley and of course seeing Punk
and even Jus with Travis Scott. So it's got to
be a showcase for him too, because I think WW
came into this thinking, like with the assumption they just
with the or at least with the philosophy that there
are going to be a lot of people who are

(01:07:45):
watching WW for the first time because they got this,
you know, this worldwide audience that they kept saying, So
it was almost like a reintroduction of sorts. Here's our
centerpiece of Roman Rains. Here's also this other got Cody
Rhodes too. He's a w W champion, he beat Roman Rains.
But here's the rock you know him and his top
women start Ripley, and here's this person. Is like showcasing

(01:08:06):
some of their top talent. They also ran video packages for,
like I said, Goon third, they ran one for Logan Paul.
So they tried to put a lot of stuff out there,
I think for some first time viewers, and I think
that's part of the reason why you had especially a
lot of babyfaces winning on this night. They wanted everybody

(01:08:27):
to feel happy. Nobody got any heat. This is a
feel good show, yeah, so it's like we want to
bring people in, make him feel good, feel happy it's happening,
and then we're gonna start pouring some heat after this show,
So that's how I approached it. But Brian, what are
your thoughts about the main event here?

Speaker 2 (01:08:44):
From raw? Main event was cool? I was I was
surprised that Sam Punk actually won, but you know, Rolins
going to Rollins is going to get a win later
down the line. This isn't this isn't finished Rollins. Is
it letting it go?

Speaker 1 (01:09:05):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (01:09:05):
Like Michael Cole says he should, Yeah, he's not. He's
not letting it go. So he's gonna get a win
down the down the road. Then maybe they they they
had the rubber match to settle the score once and
for all, but it it. It was cool. I like

(01:09:26):
the uh the exchanges of signature moves. I don't call
them finishers cause they never finished the match, that's fair.
So that the exchange of signatures uh was cool and
uh and and overall it was a good match. Seam
Punk has been putting together some great matches and this

(01:09:48):
this uh second run in w w E. I know
it was uh injury injury playing in it in the beginning,
and it kind of put a uh a damper on things.
But they turn lemons and the lemonade with him, He's
been super professional, no backstage drama, nothing like that. And

(01:10:10):
rivalry of the Year with Drew and another potential rivalry
of the Year with Seth. He may have some point
in a in a year where he's world champion. See him.
Punk is cooking right now.

Speaker 1 (01:10:26):
Look, if something terrible happens between now and the end
of the year to regarding seeing Punk, blame Brian Nasley
for Jenson at all. Oh man, Okay, if he suddenly
gets hurt or there is some backstage drama all of
a sudden, he slapped somebody in the face, He slapped
Austin Theory for some reason cause he said something sideways

(01:10:48):
to him, then yeah, blame Brian Eisley, the author of
Jet Black Volume one, The Year of a Black Planet
Brian Isaac Thompson, available on Amazon and wherever books are sold.
Blame him for Jenson. All the fun would happen right now.

Speaker 2 (01:11:08):
Man, I'm just acknowledging that my guy cooking right now.
He's one of my favorites ever. So to see him
winning like this, like it's dope to see. And he
looks to be in tremendous shape too. So I'm just
I'm just just add right.

Speaker 1 (01:11:27):
He's working out. He's in great shape, man, Brian Easac everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
I'm just saying that. Did I say anything untrue? Folk
is killing it right now.

Speaker 1 (01:11:41):
He's doing this thing. He is doing this thing. Uh, Nick,
you mentioned something earlier about his his gear. At first,
didn't recognize that Jack. I knew it was like the XXX.
I know he wore like a ring of honor. But
I was like, oh what that also looks familiar, Like
where else have I seen it? I'm side of like
ring of honor, like I knew he wore back in
the day, And apparently that's the same Jackety war had

(01:12:01):
all in last year. I saw that on the internet.
I was like, oh is that Oh wow? And it
sure was so. I guess that's what he wears for
like some of his bigger matches.

Speaker 3 (01:12:11):
I guess now he also wore when he choked out.

Speaker 1 (01:12:17):
Right, Yeah, that's yes, Yes, he's wearing it.

Speaker 3 (01:12:19):
That's what I was video.

Speaker 1 (01:12:21):
Yes, that's what I was referring to that all in.
I meant he wore it backstage when he did choked
out Jack Parry, uh, and then had Tony Kahan in
fear for his life.

Speaker 2 (01:12:31):
So definitely like half.

Speaker 1 (01:12:35):
I mean, apparently you see a punk yelling at him,
but uh, yes, that so I didn't recognize that after
the fact. I didn't recognize at the moment because I
know the XXSS is like a straight edge thing. I
know he's worn as not an X rated type things,
a straight edge thing. It's the opposite of anything. So

(01:12:55):
I know that's his lifestyle. But I was like, this
looks familiar, and then they're not picked up on it
after the show, which was kind of funny. But yeah,
that was the first ever edition of Monday Night Raw
on Netflix. Any overall thoughts, any overall things that you know,
takeaways from the show, anything that we might have missed

(01:13:17):
from the show that stuck out to you. I'll start
with you, Brian.

Speaker 2 (01:13:22):
It overtook the number one slot on Netflix, so people
need to get used to that because that's going to
be a reoccurring theme throughout this Netflix deal. We're all
it's gonna be number one a lot.

Speaker 1 (01:13:39):
Nick.

Speaker 3 (01:13:41):
I know they added an hour to smack Down, but
you can't help but sing that if you're getting called
up or you're on SmackDown or Raw. They you know,
if you're on Raw, you're gonna feel like you're on
the bigger platform because you are you are, and I
really wondering how WW is going to deal with the

(01:14:06):
I'm ensuing unhappiness because of it. You know, I feel
like there's gonna be talent that if they can't get
on RAW, they just be like, well, then I want
my release or something like that. I don't think. I
don't think it's gonna happen like right away, but I
think if you're a wrestler, like you want to be

(01:14:27):
on the biggest platform, I'm assuming you know, I'm not
reading their minds, but you know, I know, SmackDown, it's
not something to sneeze at. But I wonder how they're
just gonna deal with the that when it ultimately comes
to where, you know, for us to be like if
I'm not a RAW then like I don't want to
be here and gain my release or something. I'm not

(01:14:51):
saying like I want it to happen. I'm not like,
I'm just assuming that's a human reaction to what's happening.
Eventually everything might be fine. Now, maybe it won't happen
for a couple of years, but I think eventually, you know,
you're you're in a place right now that apparently is
very uh more friendly for the workers than it was

(01:15:14):
when the other guy was in charge. But when that
ultimately hits, you know, like a W right now and
you know, just the inter adversity. I guess how they
handle that and if it will be the same old
W or not. And I just wonder when they eventually

(01:15:37):
get to that point, how they'll handle it.

Speaker 1 (01:15:39):
I'm gonna give back to that point in a second.
But we got breaking news from New Year's NXT. We
have a new n XT champion. Is one black champion
to another down in NXT, two new champions.

Speaker 3 (01:15:57):
That match ended while I was talking. That ain't right.

Speaker 1 (01:16:00):
It's definitely did. New women's champion, new men's champion crowned
at New Year's Evil for n XT. Julia, you knew
NXT Women's champion and ober Femi your new NXT champion
called the men's champions just.

Speaker 3 (01:16:13):
He's breakout superstar of the year.

Speaker 1 (01:16:14):
He's got a slammy and he's got the NX Championship
now still laid out in the ring. Will we see him?
And Norah Rumble, I was just thinking we just talked
about will he be NXT Champion? The anthem is no.

Speaker 3 (01:16:28):
They have Julia and over on top of the stage
right now hold the title side.

Speaker 1 (01:16:33):
The Rock is advertised as being next for the next
fifteen minutes of the show.

Speaker 3 (01:16:39):
He's gonna think Netflix again.

Speaker 1 (01:16:40):
They're gonna clean up all that confetti.

Speaker 3 (01:16:44):
Laid out in the ring right the ref left him.

Speaker 1 (01:16:47):
They got all this confetti, gans shot off and stuff
like that. So just they got another segment on the show,
and that belongs to The Rock obviously, so stay tuned
for that. But to your point about whether wrestlers will
get eventually, just want to be on Raw. It a
decade with SmackDown was taped. Over a decade with SmackDown
was taped. Okay, nobody is asking for the release when

(01:17:09):
they got sent SmackDown back then. Okay, SmackDown is though
for a bit, But it was as clear as day
that Raw was the A show.

Speaker 3 (01:17:23):
It didn't happen.

Speaker 1 (01:17:24):
From pretty much the start of.

Speaker 3 (01:17:25):
The from the draft, it was SmackDown for a couple
of years. Vince hated that and once John Cena went
to Raw, that was it.

Speaker 1 (01:17:33):
Yeah, so clear as day that it took a while
was the B show.

Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
It took a while.

Speaker 1 (01:17:39):
I don't think it took a while. I think it
was like that from day one, and I think it's
Raw is always the baby, but SmackDown maybe not on
equal footing, but not enough of a footing that it
feels like the minor leagues that no one will go.
It's still a three hour show now, I don't forget that.
It's I don't know if it's gonna stay three hours.
I think I saw something that might go back. I
don't know either way, it's three hours that I doubt

(01:18:01):
that as well. Maybe I read that somewhere nonsensical, but
either way, it's three hours right now. Okay, I don't
see it going back. It's three hours right now. It's
probably going to stay that way. And USA is paying
a bunch of money for that too. NBC Universe is
paying a bunch of money for that too. It's a
w W w W is going to invest in that.
And right now, if you go, say Roman Reign stays

(01:18:23):
on Raw and then Cody's on SmackDown, you got your
two biggest stars on split up on each of those shows.
I think I think it'll be all right. I don't
think they're worried about it as much.

Speaker 3 (01:18:34):
I don't about it now. But I I just I wonder,
you know, if not as good as w W is
rolling right now when I think that might be part
of one of the adversity they face as they slow
down a little bit.

Speaker 1 (01:18:50):
I think I think they'll quiet people with some money.
Oh you're not putting it on Raw, but here's.

Speaker 3 (01:18:56):
Actually sign you for you know your salary.

Speaker 1 (01:19:00):
All right, I'll be on SmackDown. I'll still be on
a major cable network being watched by about maybe a
million people or so.

Speaker 3 (01:19:08):
But not globally at the same time.

Speaker 1 (01:19:10):
You know that all they say, oh well, it's still
being watched by a lot of people. It's just you know,
so I think they'll be all right. But yes, obviously
Netflix is getting all the attention, is getting all the
promotional dollars, and it's going to get some talent. But
SmackDown has three hours to fill. So they got a

(01:19:30):
lot of talent on it, and that and too if
it was still two hours, I guess you could that
was strength in your case, I think. But the fact
that the three says that they have to invest in
SmackDown almost as much as they do Raw because it's
the equal amount of time. Uh, that you have to
dole out to them. And it's still a major major
network that you're airing airing on and you're airing on live.

(01:19:53):
So I don't know how much of a of a
of a BT show SmackDown is going to be. It's
probably one A one B type deal between Rod SmackDown. Brian,
did I go to you already for your overall thoughts?
I think I did so.

Speaker 3 (01:20:09):
Yeah, I just said something inane that you couldn't believe.

Speaker 2 (01:20:14):
Yeah, yeah, you said something wild. Either you've you've been
