Vaughn Johnson and Nick Piccone dive deep into WCW Uncensored 1998 - headlined by Hulk Hogan vs Randy Savage in a STEEL CAGE! ... But why?BUT FIRST, they discuss current day nonsense re: the Bianca Belair-Naomi-Jade Cargill storyline playing out on SmackDown, AEW Revolution, and more!--Follow us!shooterspod.comTwitter/X: [@_piccone] [@VaughnMJohnson] [@ShootersRadio]Instagram: [@shootersradio]Threads: [@shootersradio] [@picconenick] [@vaughnjohnson166]Bluesky: [@shootersradio] [@piccone] [@vaughnjohnson]Facebook: [The Straight Shooters]Exclusive Patreon content: [patreon.com/shootersradio]

Speaker 1 (00:13):
What's up everyone out there on the Internet land, and
welcome to episode four twenty three of the Straight Shooters
available wherever podcasts are found. My name is Vaughn Johnson
and I'm joining us always. But my main man Pots
and Pans, Nick PCNA Fox PHL, a gambler and fully influencer,
and we have yet another fantastic show ahead of us
here on episode four twenty three. It is a deep dive.

(00:36):
We are diving deep into w c W uncensored from
nineteen ninety eight, and it's a show with some good
stuff and some not so good stuff. We're gonna talk
all about it here on episode four twenty three. The
show took place where would that be? Twenty man? How
long ago was that? Now? In nineteen ninety eight? So

(00:59):
long ago? Twenty seven years ago?

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Right?

Speaker 1 (01:02):
My math is my math correct?

Speaker 2 (01:04):
That's why is twenty five plus two? So yeah, twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
Twenty seven years ago this month as we are here
in the middle of March. But before we talk about
unsent too from nineteen ninety eight, and of course the
current day nonsense going on in the world. I gotta
do my weekly check on my main man, Pots and
Pants Nick. How are you and his lovely Wednesday evening?

Speaker 2 (01:25):
My good brother, it is lovely. It might be too
lovely out here because like what the hell man like?
Oh boys, I don't.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Like like Savage. I'm gonna talk about Savage on the show.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
We are litur nice out here, you know, I just don't.
I don't get it, man, Like I don't. Why can't
we slowly move into this? Why does it gotta be bamed?
You know, like two days after it's thirty degrees and
it's seventy preat like whatever, I have to ride to
the top. I can't even so while we're recording this

(02:00):
with my new microphone I've had it for a few
weeks now, I'm not going to be able to have
my air condition on while we record this door in
the summer, so I'm gonna have to like configure Yeah, no,
I don't have a fan in here, no ceiling fan, nothing,
so I don't I might just have to sit and
sweat for two hours. Take might have to take a

(02:23):
shower after we record during the summer or something like that.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Is rough.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Can't put the can't put the air on because the
mica will pick it up unless I switch back to
my own MIC, which is you know, I like this
mic a little better, but uh, it is, it is.
It's something I got to think about.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
You have a seasonal MIC, you know, for your own
health and well being, switch it up a little bit.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
I might have to. I might have to, especially when
it gets into the nineties. I don't think I'll be
able to sit here and uh, you know when in
doors could probably be like one hundred, feel like one hundred.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Yeah, that time is coming, man. Unfortunately, those ninety degree
days are not that far away. But let's enjoy what
we have now. Nick, it's not even that warm yet.
It reached us sixty to night.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
It's nice outside. But like now we have the heat
on on the boiler rooms right underneath me, so like that,
I get that heat up here, so I don't even
have to use the heat. When it's like fifty degrees
or above, I don't have to use the heat at all.
But it's when we get to this, like when they
when they shut off the heat in April. Like, I'll
be all right for a little bit until it gets

(03:36):
into the eighties and nineties. But yeah, right now, when
it's in like the sixties, seventies and you have that
heat heat on below us. Oh man, it's not comfortable
unless I have the air on. But I can't put
the air on.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Oh man, you just stuck between a rock and a
hard place.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Bachically, man, well.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Let's switch over shift gears to some current day rationling
nonsense before we get into a deep dive. We got
a new NXT Women's champion, or also the NXT North
American Champion. It's Deefhanitie of a core of a care
that's I think it's the care right. I'm sorry Stephanie,
but she'd be Julia last night on the next Uh.

(04:16):
They were at the theater in Madison Square Guard, not
the actual arena of Madison Square Garden. It is a
cool look. I think it's a great idea to do
it there. If you won, you know, the big the
big time show raw at the garden itself. Have NXT
get some of that at the theater. I think that
was a cool, cool choice for venue for them, And
we had a double champ in the NXT women's division

(04:39):
for the first time ever. Oscar didn't even do this. Uh.
She also never lost the title technically, so she's she's
maybe she can come back and get her revenge something
like that. I don't know, but but yeah, we got
a new NXT women's champion on on the raw brand
that we mentioned earlier that did run the show and
the proper Madison Square Garden. We have a new women's champion.

(05:02):
We crowned that Eo Sky as the new women's World
Champion last week. But on this week's show, she got
to slaping everybody in the face and it was tremendous.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Yeah, And I like how they, like Michael Cole kind
of put it like she will not be an afterallh
blah blah blah. I was. I wasn't sure how I
feel about something like that, but at least they're you know,
leaning into it a little bit.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
And she slapped them, yeah the face.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Which, like the Rea whinings off putting a little bit.
So I don't know what they're gonna do with her character,
but I love the EO again in the last shots.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
And yeah, it might be tough to turn Ria he
because she's certainly looking like one right now. But people
like her a lot, so we'll see how that goes.
Like you said, uh, because she's I mean, you heard
the reaction she got in the garden, like she can
barely talk because cheering's allowed. Like she's had to talk
to talk over her own over so she can get

(06:00):
out her whining, which is what she was there to do,
is to whine and complain. It's very interesting. Speaking of ovations,
we got a big ovation at the end of the
night because Roman Reins is back.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
We did. We didn't see him come out. We just
heard it and we're like, okay, yeah, this is It
took you about fifteen seconds for it to develop, but
we heard it for sure, as the camera was centered
on Seth Rollins the entire time.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
Yeah, the tribal chief is back. And he snatched Seth
Rollins out of the cage. I mean literally snatched him.
But in doing so, I guess the WW had to
escape rules on for this match, for this particular cage match,
which I've never been a fan of, but I guess
for this particular finish, you you know, you leave them

(06:45):
out there, but Roman Rains didn't care about those rules.
Drag Seth Rollins out of the ring, both of his
feet hit the floor. He wins the match. Roman Rains
beats the daylights out of Seth Rollins and then sees
Paul Haymon in the ring hugging see Punk and said,
oh hell no. Ito was like he was like a
significant other. I saw his significant other cheating on him.

(07:09):
Oh what and ran in the ring and beat the
daylights out to see him Punk too.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
We didn't know Paul was out there, you know, like not,
we didn't see it on camera at least. And then
when I thought when I saw Roman look towards the
cage and the ring, and I was like, Oh, he's
just gonna go after Punk. And then you get the
shot of Paul Hayman kind of consoling Punk, and I
was like, oh, Stap, like.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Oh he really felt like it was like some infidelity
going on. And it's like, oh, that's but that's my
tribal chief. Oh not my tribal chief, my wise man.
Roman Reigns is the tribal chief. Paul Hamman is the
wise man. But that's my wise man. Unhand my wise man,
take your hands off, my wise man. And that's what

(07:52):
Roman Rains said to see him Punk in so many words.
So we're gonna fight over who hates him, who hates
seth rollins more, whether it's Roman Rains and see him
Punk and who loves Paul Hammond more so it's a
love hate type deal here. You know Roman to see
him punk. It's weird, It's there's nothing really at stake,
just a lot of personal beef and ego. And we're

(08:13):
going to have a triple threat match. It's a triple
threat match.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
And I'm saying storyline it is.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
It is for a WrestleMania storyline. Usually you see it,
you see this at like another type.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Of show a right, But here we are it's going
into WrestleMania.

Speaker 1 (08:28):
It's it's intriguing at the very least. I'm interested. That's
That's pretty much the job of w W leading up
to WrestleMania is to create intrigue, right, create interest, uh,
and then of course to deliver on that once WrestleMania
rolls around. So as of right now, I am interested
to see where this goes. I can't say that for

(08:49):
every story on the show, but I'm interested to see
where this goes. Speaking of being interested in seeing where
things go, we got to talk about SmackDown and Philly
last Friday. I was not in the building, oh wow,
But I will say quick anecdote was that I was
I was out in the streets, in the streets before
the show, and I was at a of all places

(09:10):
of raising Kaines getting food and I walk in and
I see a family, a whole family of four, all
with jay Uso merchandise on, with hoodies all said Yeat
on the front. And I was just like, I guess
that kid's over, bro. The whole family's got the merchandise.
Some hoodies ain't cheap, so and they were. I would assume, oh,

(09:33):
I would assume that's good to hear. I would assume
that they were on their way to SmackDown to Yeat.
And I don't know if j j Usso is even
on the show. With ja Usso on SmackDown, he may
have been. I don't recall. He's on Raw. He had
a match with Grayson Waller, but I don't recall him
being on SmackDown. Didn't matter. They was wearing his merchandise.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
But I don't I don't remember.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
I don't recall. But one thing we got to remember.
One thing we got to talk about is the emotional,
gut wrenching, heart wrenching segment, the breakup essentially of Bianca
Belair and Naomi, where of course we wind back to
elimination chamber. J Cargo comes out and beats the daylights

(10:16):
out of Naomi and just her neck. Naomi goes in
the red carpet for Queen of the Ring, which we
will at some point do a deep dive on, along
with Iron Claw and the wrestle. I'm throwing that into Nick.
We should do that one as well. I've seen it,
so we're gonna get to those at some point down
the road. But she wore the bedazzled neck brace on

(10:36):
the red carpet, which is like man, Naomi is a
one at this working thing. Tony Kahan wears a neck
brace of the draft. Naomi wears a bedazzled neck brace
to the red carpet and to smack down, which I
told my wife is like man wearing a bedazzle neck brace.
That's a heel. Bro That is a villain. She's about
to turn a heel right now, Like you don't wear

(10:58):
the dazzled neck brace and not be a villain. And
lo and behold, Beyonca's called her out and said, did
you or did you not do it? Did you not
get did you did you not attack Jay Cargill and
Naomi shows and reveals her true colors all along. M
mm hmm, Beyonca and Beyonca. Well one, Naomi's crying, she's

(11:22):
losing it.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
It wasn't like, you know, like an angry type thing.
It's like, you know, I kind of wasn't expecting that.
I thought we'd kept the kind of old school you
damn right, I did it type saying we got that
angry person. But no, she was emotional about it. It
was I enjoyed that.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
I enjoyed it as well. Speaking of emotions, Beyanca crying
her eyes out and she breaks up with her friend
pretty much like I'm this is as far as I'm concerned,
this is over. And she's crying and then she gets
out of the ring. When she first gets out of
the ring, and she just dips her head down and
starts balling. So traumatic, but so good. It was so
well done. It's so good, bro the drama, the emotion.

(12:05):
I felt it.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
I really felt that people. I was like, it's probably rules,
you know, like it's just like I was expecting it
some way, but they somehow exceeded the expectation because a
lot of people thought it was going to be really good.
But man, like they when you can exceed in expectation.
That's already high. That's that's pretty pretty damn good.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
Yeah, that was It was dope. It was incredible. The
kudos to both of them. I know people were online
like give them all the oscars because Oscar has recently happened,
but you're not going to give him awards, but man
for wrestling awards, give it to them, like right, that
was incredible. I mean, they conveyed the emotion of the story,
both of them, and Bianca carrying it over to Raw

(12:51):
as well. She's still, you know, sad about it on
Raw and even brings it up like you're gonna act
everything I got going on with me? You're going to
do this right now? Ye I ain't got time for this.
I got enough drama in my life, like real, real drama.
It's like something out of out of a reality show almost.
It's like I'm watching Lover's Blind, which we will talk

(13:13):
about in the future episode as well. I have not
finished it yet, but we will talk about it once
I do finish it. I'm on episode nine and better believe,
I got plenty of notes. I got a lot of
notes about a lot of people. But what Beyonca and
Naomi are going through and Jade and to It almost
reminds me of like some type of reality show drama,

(13:34):
but it's good. It's actually really good, and they're gonna
actually fight. When reality show is you donna see the fight. Here,
you're gonna see the fight, and it's really I can't
wait to see all everybody fight while we're here. I
want to see everybody fight. But up until that point,
everybody's mad and then they go fight about it. And
so we're gonna get with Roman Rains and see him
punk and Seth Rollins. We're gonna get to hear. I
don't know if it's gonna be a triple threat with

(13:54):
Beyonca and Naomi. We Beyanka's gonna be going for the
world title, but you know, Jade, Naomi Beyanca, maybe they
eventually have a triple threat. Because we haven't talked about
Beyonca and Jade's relationship in this at all, which I
find interesting. Jade is not returning Beyonca's text or phone calls.
She didn't say a word to Bianca, and she showed
up at the elimination chamber didn't really say much to

(14:15):
her as SmackDown, even though Beyonca just like, have at it, bro,
Like she called me, she called me the B word,
because that's when you know, finished it off with with
with authority, with the b.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
Yeah, everybody leave me. Y'all just turned on me. She
sounded like David Roughing and the Temptations bro when when
the Temptations broke up with him, I was just waiting
for you. Ain't nothing without Naomi, Like that's what I
was waiting for. But Jake comes down, you know pretty
much beat you know, trashes Naomi again or tries to
at least oh she did. Actually I should take that back.

(14:51):
But we still haven't tapped into what Jade and Beyonca's
relationship is, because even Beyonca said in that promo, oh,
when we teamed up, you was pretty much my best friend,
like saying that, like you became a chemistry was more
lit than me and Jade was like kinda like and
you look at them. I kind of agreed, like the
chemistry between Bianca and Naomi felt just more. They just

(15:13):
felt like they had more chemistry together. Not to say
Jade and Bianca doesn't have any, because I think they
do and I think they work together. It just felt
like Naomi and Bianco just on the same energy all
the time, and I think it came through the screen.
So I think there's a lot of realism to that.
These have felt like it because their emotions came through
so well. So yeah, just regardless, it was well done,

(15:35):
it captivated me and many others. Also on that show,
we got Cody revealing his nasty nasty injuries thanks to
Travis Scott, who really did mess his man to EU
up to the point that Cody's wearing an ear plug
during his pyro now during his entrance and his eye
looked horrible and smack Down. It looked a little better

(15:55):
on Raw, but it looked terrible on SmackDown. We also
got a new us AM in l a Night, which
I think could potentially potentially be a dusty finish. I
don't know if that's actually gonna happen, but we haven't
seen one of those in a while.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
Uh, that specific finish, Mm hmm, that's.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
What I'm thinking. Maybe I'm maybe I'm wild. Well, because
there was some controversy, didn't Wasn't there some controversy in that?
Didn't he used a BFT on a chair to win?
H I mean, I forgot. Well I guess you forgot.
But that's what I'm thinking.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
Because I mean, like, since hasn't done anything. So I
was just like, Okay, they're resetting it again.

Speaker 1 (16:39):
But maybe maybe there was some controversy. So well, I
don't think that's totally resolved, uh just yet. But let's
move on to aw Revolution that happened. Oh yeah this
past weekend. Uh aw a lot of man right, a

(17:01):
lot of long matches, but good show overall. I didn't
watch it, not Saturday Sunday. I watched it the next day. Overall,
good show. That main event though, is Wolf.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
They have a knack for.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
That.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
Incredible you know start and middle and then the end
just falls flats.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
It's almost like WSW ninety eight.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
I don't know, I saw a lot of parallels. I
really did watching this because I watched on censored ninety
eight live. I did not watch it live, but I
saw it the next day, I believe, so, you know,
that was what WSW pay per views seemed, especially ninety eight.
You know where the start in middle, great main event,

(17:52):
but man, this I was like, I watched most of
Revolution Sunday night. I caught all of the main event,
and I just was like what are we doing, Like,
how can you have such a great show. By the way,
it shouldn't you ever been the main event. That's a discussion.
That's I don't know why we're having that because it

(18:16):
should have never been the main event. But I with
the world title like yet, but like there are times
where you don't do that, and Sunday Night was a
time where you did not do that, and they.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
Like since ninety eight could have pulled a Hogan in Savage,
wasn't there There's a case match of revolution, right my chipping, Yeah, yeah,
Fletcher and Ospar right, yeah, yeah, so yeah, exactly case match,
same deal, Like same deal.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
Come on, like Tony Storm and Ryan May needs to
be that main event.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
Yeah, the Hollywood Ending Man. The Hollywood Ending match was.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Because dude, listen, if you have if you just switch,
because listen. W WF had title matches in the middle
of pay per views years like years and years ago
now twenty thirty years ago. They'd be in the middle
of a pay per view and then they would have
you know, Summer Sam ninety two, perfect example. You have Bulldog,
one of the icy title in the UK that ending

(19:14):
with Mariah May and Tony Storm was the perfect way
to end a pay per view because you would have
watched that bad taste of and the thing is the
mocks Adam Copeland and Christian ending. It would have left
a bad taste, but like, people would have gotten over
it pretty quick because they knew what was coming. And

(19:34):
now you just leave that in there until tonight. You know,
as we're recording this on a Wednesday night, we have
to wait until Wednesday to get Like, it's just I
don't know who made that decision, if it's a Tony
decision or not, if he left it up to somebody else, but.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Man, like what and the match was called a Hollywood
ending and you're in Los Angeles, bruh. I mean to
your point, that's pretty that the stars don't the line
unlike that all the time.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
That's storyline too, you know, like nobody would have had
anything if it was the main event.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Yeah, I don't think I really thought about it until
you've just brought it up.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
I would have signed off on that. And given with
the match that we saw, it makes sense. You got
the happy Hollywood ending, so to speaking, right in LA,
that just makes sense. The end of that chapter, the
end of the show, the end of the story that's
lasted well damn a long time now, A long long

(20:34):
time now. So uh yeah, I agree with you honestly,
But shifting gears back to w W if you should
have mentioned this earlier, but because it involves Jade Cargill,
you know, usually hear about the backstage drama and it
involves a W more often than not. But this time
it's in WWE, as apparently there's some tension backstage. There's

(20:54):
a confrontation involving Jade Cargill and Shane of Basiler who
Shane Basler only wanted to fight Jake Cargo put hands
on it. No, that was scared me to death.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Either wanting to fight with me with scared me.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
I mean that's true. Obviously Jay Cargo is in tremendous
shape and strong, probably hits hard. But Shane and Basler
does did this professionally for a long time, Like, do
not play with her. She can tear your arm off today,
like it can happen. But yeah, it's that's not great.

(21:31):
I mean apparently, I think it's not like a simmering
type deal right now with like on site and you know,
you know, things can explode at any moment, but.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
It seems like it was like in the past and
no one really yeah, reported it as it was happening,
And this is kind of like an after the fact
type thing. But I think jbing Away might have you know,
helped uh simmer things and and tensions and uh, you
know it is. I mean that we hear that a lot,

(22:05):
like in wrestling locker rooms. This isn't you know. I'm
sure that reporters, wrestling reporters get info like that about
anyone and everyone is just like what they choose to
say at a certain time. Cargill coming back, I guess

(22:25):
it's a good time to you know, report It doesn't
seem to be hot like you said, like right now,
like at powder Keg waiting to explode and none of that.
Maybe it was at one point. It sound definitely doesn't
seem like it now, but.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
It sounds like it was at some point, but seemingly
seemingly cool ahead.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
And Jade had that line about the wolves and sheep's
clothing or something like that and talk about the women
in the locker room. Apparently that was an allusion to
the situation. Yeah, I mean it is. I mean, we're
here now. So you know, Shane, I don't know what

(23:11):
you know Sonny Deville is going. So I don't know
what the plans are for Shane and moving forward, but
hopefully something that she.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
Can Yeah, I think Shane is super talented man. Like
I feel like they've routinely just dropped the ball with
her for no reason. When she was in NXT, she
was killing people left and right, like it wasn't x.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
T had like women, it was like their best quality,
Like the women they would churn out like I mean,
but they get sent to the main roster that he
would just like replenish quickly.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
Like I can understand why maybe it didn't work under
Vince's regime because maybe he didn't know what to do
with Shane and Basiler, But like chip As already knew
what to do with Shane and Basler. I don't think
that if they actually invested time into shape Bezel like
that it wouldn't work. I feel like if you just
told people, hey, she beats people up for she used

(24:06):
to do it for a living. I guess she technically
still does now, but like she did this professionally, like
she is like that, and didn't have her go out
there and prove that she is like that. I think
it could work. She's not. Maybe I don't know if
she's the best talker in the world, but maybe she
doesn't have to be. Maybe get somebody to talk for

(24:27):
or limit how much she does talk and let the
stuff that she does in the ring do the talking.
I don't know, but to me, it seems like a
missed opportunity to have like a bully in the in
the women's division, somebody who just goes out there and
just doesn't it, just walks through people, beats people up,
man like. I think that that's a there's a need

(24:48):
for that presence outside of Naya Jack. She can't just
have Niajacks be like kind of the bully that, you know,
kind of just moves people out of her way. I
think you need another one, and I think Shane A.
Bezel is one that has not only that she had
that type of aura about her, she has credibility too.
So yeah, I don't know, it's you know, they got
a lot of people to work with. Something like it's

(25:11):
necessarily hurting the bottom line, but I think it could
help the quality of the division overall. If Shane Basela
was a featured aspect of it. I think they could
use her in the women's division. Honestly, I think it
would improve the quality of it if she is featured
on some level beyond tag matches that don't mean anything.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
I think she would make a great intercominental champion.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
I think so, or at least a credible challenger if
you were to do that, at the very least, and
I agree with you, I think winning the title would
make sense to me. I think screw it, let's put
it on it right now. Have a beat Layer of Valkia.
Nobody else is doing it apparently, so nobody else is
really like in line neither. Who's next for Leer of Vacia.

(25:52):
I don't know if they've established that.

Speaker 2 (25:55):
They did like.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
And it just had her win again.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
So that's where Triple H needs to, you know, kind
of figure that out, or if he can't figure it out,
get someone who.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
Can, right and stop worrying about writing segments for like
Andrew Schultz. We got plenty of time for him, but
we ain't got time for Shannon Baseler. It doesn't make
any sense. Of course, that's a Netflix special, so that's
the reason why he's in the ring. Assumming Netflix trying
to make some Monday. Please watch this, please please watch this.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
But here's the other guy, the guy that was from
Abbot Elementary. What's his name? Abbit Elementary too. He was
in the crowd too. He started a Netflix series. I
believe we're starting in one that's.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
From Abbot Elementary. That's what you said. I'm trying to
try to think which which guy is.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
It from the district with the piers.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Oh, yeah, yeah he is.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
But he's in the Netflix.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
Yeah, they did show him.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
He was at Raw.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
Yeah, he's in another show here. Yeah, he is from
the district. He's the guy that they thought that what's
his name was dating, right, Quentin Bun. Her name Janine.
They thought Janine was dating him.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
He's another show that I started watching too, called Laid. Yes,
it sounds vulgar, but it's kind of interesting. But he's
in that show too, not for long though.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
Yeah, that's who I remember him from. Not but Elementary.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
Also also in that show. Also in that show called
Laid is big Ee. Biggie's in the show. Yes, so
maybe it's on Peacock of all places, check it out.
But Biggie is in the show Crazy it's crazy, right,
somehow we bring it back to wrestling talking about a
show called Laide But no, no, it's on Peacock and
Biggie is in the show. He does nothing vulgar though,

(27:45):
don't worry, you know, he plays baseball of all things.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
But go check it out.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
No, not in this particular context, not this time. Maybe
in another context it could be, but not this one.
But that's enough of the current day nonsense. Nick, Are
you ready to go back in time and deep dive
into Uncensored from nineteen ninety eight?

Speaker 2 (28:10):
It's uncensored?

Speaker 1 (28:12):
Oh yeah, rule Shool. Our show is still sensored, though,
I mean as much as we can. And that show
was too, it really was. Yeah. Are you ready?

Speaker 2 (28:23):
Though, let's go all right. I can't really play the
intro because it was a bunch of nothing.

Speaker 1 (28:29):
Yeah, it was a bunch of nothing. It was a
lot of nothing. But wsw Uncensored in nineteen ninety eight
took place on March fifteenth, nineteen ninety eight, two weeks
exactly before wressell Mania fourteen.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
How about that?

Speaker 1 (28:46):
What a time this had to have been in wrestling.
We're talking about ninety eight, which is in March. We're
talking about obviously two weeks out from WrestleMania with WWF
is rolling on allander as you would think, right, Like,
I've watched these shows leading up on the ww network days.

(29:08):
Uh and they used to watch like Raw all the
rolls back from ninety eight, ninety nine, two thousand, whatever,
and it was hot from what I remember, it was
a hot product. And then here comes WSW with uncensored.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
It's w still hot at this point, but like it
is we're seeing like okay, WF, like, yeah, they're coming.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
That's the thing. Ww is hot. It's just that WWF
is steadily getting hotter, right, and then you add Mike
Tyson into the fold, and on top of what's already there,
which is Steve Awston actively becoming the hottest act in
the whole industry, and then through Mike Tyson on top
of that, and it's like, what we only got Michael

(29:53):
Buffer from boxing. He can't even do nothing, he just talks.
So what do we got to answer? Let's throw on unsent. Okay,
we even got rules on this show, even though some
matches do have rules, but we're gonna call it rules
or for fools, they got attitude. We got rules or
for fools.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
Meaning every other show we do, or we're foolish, foolish
this show.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
I mean, they made the seven and seventy five people
in attendance feel like fools for buying tickets to this
show to see this main event.

Speaker 2 (30:27):
There's a reason they didn't talk about the attendance on
this show.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
That number was According to good old Wikipedia, the show
emanated from Mobile, Alabama from the Mobile Civic Center in Mobile, Alabama.
This building, if it looks familiar, It is also the
site of Beach Blast in nineteen ninety two, in case
you were a Beach Blast condo sore. Still one of

(30:52):
my least favorite pay per view names of all time.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
It's you can't have great American basion and Bass of
the Beach back to back. Come on, at least put
Bash of the Beach in August.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
We're gonna do that, okay, But I don't need a
beach Blast that sounds like the corniest party out.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
You got to wave with the muscle.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
That sounds like, I mean, that's cool, that's dope. I'm
here for the way with the muscle logo. That's cool,
But beach Blast sounds like negative vibes for a party. Okay,
it sounds like the party I at least want to
go to. I'm sorry, Hey, guys, can I go to
the beach blast? No?

Speaker 2 (31:29):
What I mean?

Speaker 1 (31:30):
Okay, get out?

Speaker 2 (31:31):
You want to go to at the beach?

Speaker 1 (31:33):
That sounds just this rolls off the tongue better, It
sounds better, I'm sorry, rolls better n beach beach blast garbage.
You can y'all can fight me on it if you
want to out there, but I'm staying. I'm staying. I'm
staying ten toes down in this one. Okay, standing on business.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
Well, I mean you down. Ha. Hancho was a w
W which made the change, But I just I didn't
think it needs to be back to back.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
They were so smart they stayed in business for another
like nine years. So let me come on. They knew
what they were doing. But if you were, you know, interested, curious.
The Mobile Civic Center was demolished in January. Oh no so,
but the roof of the building there was like remains
of the roof leftover, and that also was destroyed after

(32:23):
a historic snowstorm and Mobile in like February, like January,
early February. But you know, don't fear, don't fret because
a new Mobile Civic Center is going to be built
for the cool, smooth price of two hundred and fifty
million dollars in Mobile, Alabama. That was according to all

(32:44):
the local outlets and Mobile Alabama dot Com different websites
around there. So because I trust those media outlets down there,
they're hardworking people. But the opening video package, like you said,
not much to it, just some music and some ambient
sound bites and noise.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
You can't really hear, right, it's uncensored, man, Like we
can't hear you know, the curse.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
Is so much we gotta turn the volume down. It's uncensored, y'all.
But the main event of this show is a cage
match between Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage, both members of
the nWo, and the world title was on. Oh wait no,
neither one of the world champion. Oh that's right. This

(33:28):
is just two guys with with who the stars, bigger
stars and bigger places fighting it out. Still I can't
say that about Hogan. Hogan was a huge star in
w CW, but but still just rekindling old rivalries from
WrestleMania four.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
I guess five you had w pro w CW announcers
trying to act like they cared about the tension in
the nWo and I understand, like, yeah, you want to
see the downfall of your enemy and the freak joy
in that I especially do when it comes to sports.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
But it's like, are you happy in the forty nine
Ers are getting rid of all their players? Is that
what you're talking about? I feel like that's exactly what
you're talking about. For all theF that you've been having,
for all the beef and stripe that you've been put
through by forty nine Ers fans, I'm sure you're like, oh,
they traded Debo, Oh they might trade Brendan Ayuk.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
Well, it's very funny seeing the Commanders fans who were
crapping on Debo just ago all of a sudden take
too them and it's like, not so fast.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
Look, if you ask Commanders fans, they're going seven. They're
going sixteen and one this year. They're winning the NFC East,
and they're going to just steamroll their way to the
Super Bowl. You know what, They're going to go fourteen
and three in the regular season, that's what they're thinking.
Fourteen and three and force the most turnovers on defense
for the postseason and then blow their opponent out in

(34:57):
the Super Bowl. Oh wait, that happened this year, that
the Eagles. Damn that already happened. That's crazy, that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
It's all coming delivered. Thank you, thank you, but sorry, Brian,
not really, but oh.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
Yeah, the third man, Brian hearing this is like, I'm
never coming back.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
He was probably crapping on Divo a month ago and
now he's like he bought a jersey by Jersey.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
I think they're coming out with coming out with new uniforms, those.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
Commanders again, maybe because nobody likes what they look like.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
Uh let me, let me let me look into that.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
Such a bozo or maybe not.

Speaker 1 (35:39):
Maybe I'm tripping, Maybe I misheard or something like that.
I thought they were coming out with new uniforms. So
forgive me on that, cause they did just come out
with uniforms right two seasons ago. And I don't think he
can change him every year. You can only change him,
but like every like two or three years, so uh
like not two or three years five as I think

(36:00):
it is. But they might have some throwbacks or something.
I think. Let me let me look into this a
little bit because I want.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
To figure out because there were rumors that they were
moving back towards the Joe Gibbs era style. So you're
that might be what you're thinking about.

Speaker 1 (36:15):
Maybe maybe, but yeah.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
That that definitely was out there as Yeah, a month ago,
we go to we go to reddit because reddit is
also just as noteworthy as a Wikipedia. On the Commander's subreddit,
Grant Paulson confirms new uniforms on his radio show one
of six point seven. This is from the user and

(36:40):
the subreddit. Okay, he's heard that change the uniforms to
where we can contact with the league to change the
uniforms to wear as early as next season.

Speaker 1 (36:51):
So as early as next season.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
Yeah, but the Joe Gibbs era.

Speaker 1 (36:56):
Okay, but still be the Commanders. Yeah, Jill Gibbs there.
That was just like the error they just left like
they didn't change their uniforms that often whatever. That's neither
here nor there. We're not there to talk about. We're
not here to stand the headlines something that's cool. But
the World Championship of WSW back in ninety eight was
held by Sting.

Speaker 2 (37:18):
Remember that, remember he finally did it.

Speaker 1 (37:21):
He's star K ninety seven is monumental moment in wrestling history.
He main events the biggest show ever. He beats Haulkhok
and he ends the Reign of Terror from the New
World Order, and he is in a semi main event
three months.

Speaker 2 (37:36):
Later wild to the guy that he beats.

Speaker 1 (37:42):
Not to the guy, but like instead of the guy,
like the guy that he beat is in the main event.
He's in a semi man Yeah.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
And then they had the rematch super Brawl, which was
these months prior to this, and you want to get
he's not main inventing. What are we doing?

Speaker 1 (38:00):
Yeah? Is this is this a Hogan car.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
Like I got to be because you know, like he
he made it. He wanted the nWo the Power Struggle
to be like the number one storyline, and that's how
they treated it. And you know, I watched the Night
Shrow after this as well to try and get, you know,

(38:25):
a reminder of how it was handled the next night,
and it was like the same thing. It's like they
just revert like nothing happened at the end of this
show that people cared about. And even the next the
next pay per view, Spring Stampede, you have Randy Savage

(38:47):
versus thing say Sting was back in the main event,
but spoiler alert, he loses the title, like lose the title. Oh,
spoiler alert. Night after that, haul Cogan wins back the title.
So this whole, this whole era. I remember being so
annoyed by it and listen WF on the other station.
Austin's the champion versus dude Love was kind of weird.

(39:11):
I'm not gonna lie, I thought. I thought it was
weird as a first you know feud after he won
the title. But they really didn't have you know, Shawn
Michaels wasn't available obviously, and Triple H was not going
to be that guy in main events against Austin at
that time, so I get why they tried to do
what they did, but still it's like, at least you
still had Austin as the champion in the main event

(39:32):
and not whatever the hell w CW was.

Speaker 1 (39:34):
Still, Yeah, it was. It was strange to see that
play out again. I'm curious, like, because you're watching actively
watching at this point, like, how are you feeling about
w cw WWF at this point, especially heading into WrestleMania,
which is obviously the biggest show of the year.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
I just I was at a point where I just
want to take the show, and I really like didn't
watch it back with WWF. I would tape it, you
know raw in every pay per view, and then I
would watch it like, you know, the next day, I
would rewatch it with w CW. I of course, wasn't
able to order more than one pay per view at
a time at a month. At this time, I had

(40:18):
a neighbor who for some reason or other got these
shows for you know, free, I guess maybe not free,
but he got so my friend is like, it's a
happy accident every month. Somehow, I tried to, I really
try to. I would give them a blank tape and

(40:40):
just say, hey, like, could you tape this for me?
And I'll get it you know tomorrow. Uh you know,
we go to school and everything, you can give me
that tape or when we get home or something. So yeah,
I was able to in this era of w CW
watched some of their pay per views that way, it'll
be like the next day.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Spent nice of them. Yes, well, I guess they would
get also somehow somehow they were not getting it for
free right what they were they weren't paying for it though,
right like they were somehow wing So I guess it
didn't cost him anything. But back in the day, if
you had a pay per view own your house, Uh,
that took up the house. Like that was what had
to be on a TV, especially when you were taping it.

(41:22):
You couldn't change the channel. Yes, so they had to
leave that on a TV for multiple hours. Yeah, you
were about to say they weren't wrestling fans.

Speaker 2 (41:28):
I appreciated it because I think it was just like
I tried to explain how it works, because they were not,
you know, well versed in like my friend and his dad,
they were not well versed in how to go about
doing this. So I tried to explain it to you
know what, like there's a replay that comes on right
after it, so you don't have to watch, you don't

(41:51):
have to leave your TV like that. And they had
more than one TV and more than one VCR, so
they he could have done it like in another room
if he wanted to, but like record it. I was like,
if you want, like, you can just record the replay,
which starts usually at eleven o'clock, so by that time
you're maybe going to bed, you know, get ready for

(42:12):
the workday Monday morning and stuff like that. So I
would really try to like tell my friend's dad to
be like, this is kind of how it works, so
you know, it was funny and he there were some
like tracking wasn't that great, but I wasn't going to
complain about it because I was able to watch a

(42:33):
show that I didn't pay for, that my mom didn't
have to pay for, and that my friend was like
helping me out. So I had a few of these
pay per views from that era that way, you know,
like there were a few that like I ordered, but
when my mom was like, all right, you can get
to this month, and I remember being like, oh my god,
this is amazing. But yeah, it didn't happen often. So

(42:57):
that was my way of trying to get these shows.
And I didn't get every show but Super sold Out.
I didn't get but Super Brawl before this, and then
Uncensored Spring Stampede, and I believe I got Great American
Bath like I ordered it, so I taped that at
my house and then Bash at the Beach. I might

(43:20):
have got it, so but yeah, it was like this.
There was a string of this, and then I just
started feeling weird about it. And I didn't like these
shows because w CW was really like going down at
this time, and it.

Speaker 1 (43:34):
Seemed like you noticed it because you were picking w
w F show is a month at the month, and
then you can come back to Great American Bash. So
I wonder what show was at night was that would
have been June. What show was w w F putting
on that you opted not to get that month?

Speaker 2 (43:50):
No, I got it it. I'm so glad that I
got that one.

Speaker 1 (43:58):
You had to be there for the hell in the
Cell match.

Speaker 2 (44:00):
That might have been the one where I was like,
oh my god, I'll do this and I'll do that.
Please order blah blah blah.

Speaker 1 (44:05):
So I do whatever you want. It flew a sweep
every day.

Speaker 2 (44:09):
My parents, you know, they bailed me out that night.
So but Great recond Bash was like terrible anyway, and
I kind of wish I didn't. But you know, I'm
not gonna tell my parents that either, because I felt sad,
like I don't. I don't want them to pay for
something I don't enjoy.

Speaker 1 (44:24):
So i'd be mad if you're like, I hated to
show and I wasted my damn money. You don't even
like it, We're not ordering it no more.

Speaker 2 (44:30):
I wouldn't even put it on downstairs, like baby watching
TV downstairs, and I would be taping it in their room,
the ww ones, but the w WF ones, I'd be
downstairs and we all be watching it.

Speaker 1 (44:40):
So yeah, I get embarrassed to watch ws W with them,
or they wouldn't tolerate it.

Speaker 2 (44:45):
I would to watch man kind get thrown off the
hell and a cell please, you know, with everybody, not
share it with the family exactly. So yeah, that's kind
of where I was then. And I remember I was
wondering if they judging me off watching if they were
going to watch w like the pay per view, because
I didn't know that. I just kind of gave them

(45:06):
the notes on what to do, like, and I was
praying and hoping that it'd be recording that night and
then the next day, hoping that I got a tape
that had the entire pay per view, and most of
the time I did, so I thanked them for it,
for sure, but at the same time, I was like, oh, man,
if they're watching this, they're probably like and they don't
like it or something they're like with the hells. Yeah, next,

(45:28):
did you have.

Speaker 1 (45:29):
Them record a two thousand war rumble? Because that would have.

Speaker 2 (45:31):
Been No, would be terrible.

Speaker 1 (45:33):
Yeah, that would that would have been rough.

Speaker 2 (45:35):
Now by that point I kind of test I didn't.
I did it in ninety eight and ninety nine, but yeah,
it wasn't like the whole year. At some point, I
think I just got that they did. I think the
dad might have just been like, nah, like.

Speaker 1 (45:51):
We're good, We're good. Yeah, we're done with this. We're
not doing this for you anymore.

Speaker 2 (45:55):
And it's not like I had an issue with my
friend or whatever. It was just kind of like, my
dad doesn't want to do it, so he was he
might have been going through a something I don't know
and didn't want to deal with it. I mean, they
didn't go through a divorce, but oh man, personal it
was around that. It was like before that though, So yeah,
I don't know. I didn't. I was just thankful that

(46:17):
my neighbor was willing to help me and I didn't
want to like keep poking. If I remember asking my friend,
we were like, hey, do you think like your dad
will be able to tape this for me? He is
probably probably not.

Speaker 1 (46:32):
I was like, damn it, and that's the end of that.

Speaker 2 (46:34):
It was a man, right.

Speaker 1 (46:37):
It was a great time. It was a great time.
But let's move on to our deep dive. Here we got,
of course, our categories matched at the night worse match
at the nine obvious call for that one. Uh, Top, No,
I don't happening, I got. I mean there were a
couple of contenders, but I mean there's one that stuck
out more than others.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (46:58):
When I say top non wrestling happening, which I'm kind
of going to combine the top and worst non wrestling
happening because they kind of all rolled into one for
this one. For me, at least hitting gems And of
course the random thoughts on the call for this show
is Tony Shavani, Bobby the Brain, Heenan, and Mike toay
that Iron Mike Today's not the professor, He's both.

Speaker 2 (47:19):
He's both Professor Iron Today. How about that?

Speaker 1 (47:24):
Seven names for this guy. But I will say I like,
I've always liked Mike tonay Man. He always brought like
a professionalism and a just like a credibility to his
announcing that didn't always exist and doesn't still always exist
in wrestling.

Speaker 2 (47:40):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (47:40):
He has a unique but it's what makes him unique
in a way because everybody's almost trying to play like
a play up a character sometimes but he's not, and
I like that sometimes from Mike today, it's a nice
change of pace from other companies and other announced teams,
like we just got finished in two thousand and five,

(48:01):
where we got like King talking about you know, women's
body parts and Jonathan Coachman just strutting out there and
the sunglasses and yelling the possible like and then man,
it's just it's just tough, you know, here it is.
But now we got Mike today and it's like, ah,
this is nice, this is nice.

Speaker 2 (48:18):
So we sacrifice Dusty to the nWo for this.

Speaker 1 (48:21):
Yeah, yeah, we're gonna talk about Big dust being a
villain in nineteen ninety eight. What in the world he
sold a soul? Sold to Soul. But let's talk about
our match of the night from Uncensored nineteen ninety eight.
What did you have as the match of the night
from Uncensored?

Speaker 2 (48:38):
From Bell to Bell NonStop Action, the Triple Jeopardy Match, Oh,
the US title. I agree that was way better than
I remember it being just yeah, no lulls demolishing this set.

Speaker 1 (49:00):
It it's just like throwing people through the set. Just
we got plunder as Dusty would say we got plunder
in the kitchen sing.

Speaker 2 (49:10):
It also got me thinking they called this the Triple
Jeopardy match, right.

Speaker 1 (49:15):
Yeah, it was just bizarre. As a side note, I
think Ricochet wing an Eagles hat again, it's just going
to wear Eagles hats every week now he's got a
white one on the he's got an NFL going to back,
so I assume it's an Eagles hat. But go ahead.
I don't mean to interruption, that's funny.

Speaker 2 (49:34):
I just looked like over I saw that. It's just like,
by the way, what a great match, rochets again.

Speaker 1 (49:40):
Yes, it was a lot of good storytelling in that
match too.

Speaker 2 (49:44):
Yeah, kudos threat Tochet for turning around after like his
debut at one.

Speaker 1 (49:50):
And I think he's benefited from him. Yeah. I think
it's benefited from being an aw as well.

Speaker 2 (49:54):
So absolutely, I totally did a one ad on him.
So he's got a lot of.

Speaker 1 (49:59):
People have me think a lot of people have. But yes,
the false account anywhere Triple Jeopardy. Yes, by the way,
threat with false count anywhere, which I found kind of weird.

Speaker 2 (50:10):
It's a false count anywhere, But if you pin them
in the ring, uh, you can't be near the ropes, there.

Speaker 1 (50:16):
Will be that's weird falls count anywhere except under the ropes, except.

Speaker 2 (50:23):
The triple jeopardy? What's the best name for a three
man match? Do they have it with the triple threat?
Like is that the best match? Is that the best name? Triangle?
You know? That's that's actually my personal fit. I like
three Way Dance as well. ECW did that a lot.
Triangle match is probably my favorite. But like, what do
you think, like Three's Company, like.

Speaker 1 (50:45):
Company, three Ninjas, like the movie Three Stooges of whatever.
I don't knows everything.

Speaker 2 (50:54):
Three Stooges match.

Speaker 1 (50:56):
Three, the Big Three. I don't know. That's a good question.
And though I think we just become so accustomed to
saying triple threat just because it's just what we call it, Like, yeah,
it doesn't make it really any sense when you think
about it.

Speaker 2 (51:10):
They just stole from the triple threat group in the UCW.
I thought that was like maybe where it started.

Speaker 1 (51:15):
But when you talk about a triple threat, that implies
that there are three threats. But if you're in a
triple threat, there's only two threats. It's a double threat match.

Speaker 2 (51:28):
Let's the referee is part of your threat.

Speaker 1 (51:30):
Then you got bigger problems. Okay, we don't want to
go down that path, but yeah, like when you really
break down the semantics of it, it makes no sense.
So but we just become, you know, accustomed, you know,
just say it triple threat, triple threat, and it kind
of rolls off the tongue. Like I said Batch of
the Beach earlier. It rolls off come on better than

(51:51):
beach blast. But I think it's tough because the concept
of a three entity competition doesn't really make sense outside
of wrestling. Like you don't see I mean, obviously you
have like track and field where there could be seven
eight people racing each other at once, but it's a race.

(52:12):
It's not like it's like a game or a match, right.
You don't see three soccer teams play each other at
the same time. You don't see three tennis players go
at it at the same time, you know, and they
hit two balls at once and they're trying to defend
two courts and whatnot, like, so it doesn't happen that
way in other sports outside of wrestling. It doesn't happen
in boxing, doesn't happen in MMA or kickboxing or why TI,

(52:37):
whatever the case. May be it doesn't happen least that
I can recall. And at high levels too, you might
have some you know, other you know what they call
outlaw promotions that will do three person fights or whatever,
but not nothing with any real credibility or money. I guess. So,
I don't know what a good name for it would
be three way dances that was like a E. C. W. Right,

(53:02):
they would call it a three way dance. And then
you got the triangle, which I don't know who you've
used that outside of like WWF when they did the
triangle lder.

Speaker 2 (53:11):
Match WCW I believe using at some point Okay, I
think we did. It might have been ninety five. Yeah,
they had the triangle match at Starkad. It was Savage
Flair Luger. I believe.

Speaker 1 (53:26):
I think triangle works.

Speaker 2 (53:27):
Triangle match. I like trying triangle triangle number one.

Speaker 1 (53:31):
I think triangle works because it just it's simple to say,
it's only one word. It makes sense given the circumstances.
I don't know how else you describe it besides the triangle. Again,
triple threat just doesn't make any sense, you know, semantics wise.

Speaker 2 (53:46):
I think triple Jeopardy makes more sense.

Speaker 1 (53:49):
But I don't like, what's what's in jeopardy? What's it like? Yeah,
I think like you think triple jeopardy, there's three things
that jeopardized things or all three people in jeopardy, Like
I don't understand.

Speaker 2 (53:58):
Well, yeah, like the match, sure they are.

Speaker 1 (54:02):
Because to me, if you're talking about the person in
the match who the amount of jeopardy that they're in,
it's still double jeopardy because it's only two other people
in the match, right, Like, it's not a third person.
The fatal four way, that's a triple threat. So the
fatal four way is really the triple threat because.

Speaker 2 (54:20):
There's three other threats, that's true.

Speaker 1 (54:22):
And why is a fatal for Why is it fatal?
Nobody's dying here, So it just I think these are
terms that like w w F came up with in
the late nineties to try to sound menacing because it's
the attitude. There's triple threats, fadal four way, you know,
and there's something liiteration there with that too. They even
made it into a pay per view. They never made
a triple threat pay per view. They have not they

(54:43):
have not done that, but they didn't do a fatal
four way pay per view or just was it just
four way. I don't think it was called fatal four way.
It was fatal four way. That's wild, but yeah, I don't.

Speaker 2 (54:55):
I don't know. It's like a good question on it
a little bit. I did not see that pay per view. Man.

Speaker 1 (55:00):
Look, I don't think I saw it neither, and I
can't tell you a damn thing about it besides the
fact that they were fatal four weight matches something like that.
That's when they were rolling out a lot of the
like capital base. Yeah, they were trying to roll off
some gimmicks. Boy, Like this is before the elimination chamber
became the elimination chamber, or they did the hell in

(55:20):
the cell? They did what was the submission pay per
view breaking pot over the breaking point? Well that wasn't
the submission one. They did have an over the limit,
but there was just a submission show and they had
nothing but like submission. I think it's breaking point.

Speaker 2 (55:34):
Breaking point was one. I didn't realize that was an
all sial one because it.

Speaker 1 (55:38):
Was really like, what, okay, okay, where's the excellence of
execution when when you need you need them? Then?

Speaker 2 (55:46):
Right?

Speaker 1 (55:46):
I don't know, but yeah, that was that was strange,
but he.

Speaker 2 (55:50):
Would have been a good pay per view name.

Speaker 1 (55:52):
I think that works. But again, like if.

Speaker 2 (55:55):
They had matches, three threats, three gimmick matches, triple something,
I could see.

Speaker 1 (56:00):
That something with involving three and I guess in this
case it is three people competing. But I don't I
don't like it. But this match, like we said, great match,
the best match on the show. We even got Raven
doing dives outside of the ring. Wow, that was wild.
They put a trash can over Raven and hit him,

(56:24):
hit him over the head with crutches. Like you mentioned earlier,
Raven and Benoit sent uh DDP through the set twice,
the uncensored sets yea twice, to the point that had
to drag himself back to the ring after.

Speaker 2 (56:41):
Yeah, I was like enthralled with the set. I was like, Wow,
that's how they do it. Huh. Just thought it was
just like a poster that was up against the board.
I was like, no, it's not. Actually Wow.

Speaker 1 (56:53):
Yeah. At one point, Raven grabbed a velvet rope and
Bobby Heen is like, that's a snake. This bright red
velvet rope. It got a snake for some reason. Even
though the match had no rules and there was false
counted everywhere or anywhere. Raven had a wrestling sign cover

(57:17):
up a stop sign for some reason, and he tore
you know, tore the paper off, like, oh, it's actually
a stop sign. It's like, there's no rules. You didn't
have to hide that.

Speaker 2 (57:25):
Like there were too many callbacks to ECW, but that
if you didn't watch ECW, would you would have thought,
oh my god, this is so innovative. But when you
did watch it occur in ECW and Raven's just doing
the same thing, you're like, this sucks because it's not original,
you know, like and that's how even as what was

(57:48):
I twelve at the time, I thought that, I remember
being like, oh my god, they're copying ECW. That's so lame,
Like even though WWF probably had done it by that.

Speaker 1 (57:58):
Point, got a whole era. They got a whole era
named after how much they copied the ECW bro era.

Speaker 2 (58:09):
It was a carbon copy, like they used the stop
sign at ECW with the you know, they ripped it
apart to veil the stop sign they used. Uh. This
was later down the road and we might get into
it at some point. But when Goldberg beat Raven, for
the US title on nitro H. Raven was trying to
quote unquote escape and you had fans in the stands

(58:30):
carry him back to the ring like that happened in ECW.
So it was like too much of the ECW thing
with Raven. That kind of put me off a little
bit in this era. So I was glad to see
him like lose. When he lost, I was like, yeah,
you're you're just doing what you did at ECW. You're
bringing it here. Get out of here with that. I
remember being so mad about it.

Speaker 1 (58:51):
Speaking of ECW. We gotta do some ECW deep dives
soon because why not?

Speaker 2 (58:56):
Yeah, we gotta do Let's we do it too so far,
I believe, and in a while to the one night
stands we did, but I late, I kind of put
that under w W.

Speaker 1 (59:07):
But yeah, we need to do some true blue.

Speaker 2 (59:09):
We did barely leave and Russell Palooza ninety eight.

Speaker 1 (59:13):
That was a while ago, so I want to get
back on Boss. At some point in this match, is
set up a table in the ring, which eventually allowed
DDP to hit Raving with a diamond cutter. Somewhat through it.

Speaker 2 (59:25):
He slid onto the table. Yeah, I mean a sliding one.

Speaker 1 (59:28):
It's a classic clip that would be played in uh Bachmania.
I'm sure has been played in Boina. It's been five
hundred episodes of bah Mania. So but it's a classic
moment of I am the table obviously, so uh the
table didn't break, but the people still popped and DDP
retained the United States Championship after a triple Jeopardy match
that was a lot of fun.

Speaker 2 (59:49):
No lulls, you know, that was the crazy part for me.
It's like everyone was moving and it was like fifteen
some minutes. Let me see at the time stamp of this,
because I remember thinking like, wow, it didn't feel that. Yeah,
fifteen minutes fifty three seconds, and it felt shorter than
that because there were it was constant action, and I
remember being like, now this feels different, Like this wasn't

(01:00:12):
what we would see like on a daily basis, even
in WWF at this point. So I remember thinking like, okay,
like this is cool. You know, like there's a lot
of action, a lot of reaction from the crowd, and
you know they I was not looking forward to this
when it started, because I mean, I haven't seen this

(01:00:32):
show in forever. And when they did the triple lock up.
In the beginning they did like three times. I was like,
what the hell is this? Like this is going to
be so lame. Right after that, things were like crazy good.
So I was like, oh, yeah, this clears everything else
for sure.

Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
Yeah, for sure. It wasn't necessarily a high bar to clear,
but this cleared it by a lot. Don't get it wrong.
This match deserves the praise we're heaping upon it. If
you are inclined to go.

Speaker 2 (01:01:00):
Back and watch, I'd say tad match that year.

Speaker 1 (01:01:05):
I mean, it's not again, not a high Barty clear
for WSW, but this is worthy of your time if
you have time to go back, if you can, you know,
watch un censored from ninety eight, go back and watch
this triple Jeopardy match as they call it for the
United States Championship. Raven DDP and Chris Benoit was in
the match. But yeah, that was a lot of fun,

(01:01:27):
so worthy of like in the praise that we heaped
upon it. But let's ship gears to the opposite end
of the end of this spectrum. The worst match of
the evening, I will start. I think we agree on
this as well. We may not, but to me, it
is the main event steel cage match for nothing other

(01:01:48):
than pride between HAULK Hogan and Randy Savage. For one,
I forgot to mention, did Raven not have music in
that last matchst on Peacock?

Speaker 2 (01:01:59):
It didn't have these he uh so? But why was
he coming out of the entrance anyway, Like, wasn't he
like used to sitting in the front row with the
flock like the hell But yeah, whatever, he did not
have that the WWF Eyes theme song with the bird yeah,
which was not a thing in WSW. But I'm surprised.

(01:02:20):
I mean, they did it with Jericho, I'm surprised they
didn't duble it with Raven. But I guess if there's
no music, you don't.

Speaker 1 (01:02:25):
Have to that's fair. You just have ambient noise in
the background. But speaking of music, main events, all Cogan
Savage in a cage, they lower the cage to terrible music.
The cage lowering music in ww very much a step
below the cage lowering music in WWE, where it sounds

(01:02:46):
very serious and brooding. They even use it on Monday
Night with uh ceing punk and stuff rollins for that
cage match. But the stuff here is like jaunty rock
that was like, we're about to have a good time here, guys,
And it's like these people are about to this is
gonna be some blood, right, like this is a cage match.
The tone didn't match up.

Speaker 2 (01:03:06):
I did not pay attention too much to the music.

Speaker 1 (01:03:10):
So that's what I always do. Man, It's just I
should have very serious match that we're supposed to do here,
but this jaunty.

Speaker 2 (01:03:19):
Fire alarm in the background. I do always saw every week.

Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
Man always recorded maybe maybe but uh but yes, uh
they were out there in the main event in this
cage match. Hogan is savage. What are they fighting for?

Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
N w O supremacy according to Tony Savanni And yeah,
I remember, like this was the first time I heard
the word supremacy used and like wrestling that way. So
I had like PTSD a little.

Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
Bit are they siss? Oh my god?

Speaker 2 (01:04:02):
But like brand supremacy stuff like that. I had a
little PTSD, like is knowing what I know now with
like wrestling in that term, I would have been like
so skeemed out by it.

Speaker 1 (01:04:14):
So many uses of the word supremacy and in wrestling
over the years, and very little came, very little positive
came out of it, especially when it comes to brand supremacy. Uh,
it was interesting to see one Hogan is Savage came
out to the same music, which was kind of weird.

Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
But so this is what I also don't like about
the Peacock. By this point, Hogan has the Voodoo Child.
He does, he has all all his n WO stuff
is dubbed over with the regular theme and that's annoying.

Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
That is yeah, that is annoying. I completely forgot about that.
He does have the Vooty Child theme. Uh, his own
special in WO theme. Savage did not have his own special.

Speaker 2 (01:04:57):
Yeah at the beginning. Oh yeah, and the little out Blites.
But that's it.

Speaker 1 (01:05:02):
It's the same song at that with the Outsiders too, right,
It's kind of right. It's kind of mixtures up with
different like sayings and whatnot. It's like different song see
you look over here, different.

Speaker 2 (01:05:13):
Exactly like Kurt Heading sucks for him because he didn't
get any of his uh you know, phrases in his
version because he.

Speaker 1 (01:05:23):
Don't people talking to the micro. He couldn't say that
he was perfect, couldn't.

Speaker 2 (01:05:28):
Say that that was that was his only like gimmick.

Speaker 1 (01:05:35):
But the match begins. We also got Miss Elizabeth out
here with Randy Savage, which reci in Peace of Miss
Elizabeth is an interesting time in because Lex Luga has
got in the Hall of Fame. Uh, And I know
some people are upset about that given how Miss Elizabeth,
miss Elizabeth's life ended and she's not in the Hall
of Fame yet, which she should be. What the hell?

Speaker 2 (01:05:55):
Yeah, I just just dawned to me unless family is
playing in that.

Speaker 1 (01:06:00):
Like maybe, which I would understand.

Speaker 2 (01:06:02):
But but yeah, at this point, it's like, I feel
like we would have heard that if that were the case.
It is like, get heer in there. What are we
waiting for?

Speaker 1 (01:06:12):
Yeah, especially if Luga is in now. Yeah, I'm not
trying to, you know, really knock Luga's career as much, but.

Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
He definitely, at least from what I've read some of
the interviews he's done, and he takes responsibility of that
and he's very like regrettable about that. So I think,
you know, that's still weighs heavy on him.

Speaker 1 (01:06:30):
And I know he's going to comeback right now on
the Men with DDP so trying to regain his mobility.
So DDP being the nicest person in wrestling again, helping people.
It's always nice to see him, you know, helping people.
But back to this match, just garbage match by the way,
which started out in darkness somewhat.

Speaker 2 (01:06:53):
I thought that was weird. I was like, oh, we're
not there this the whole match.

Speaker 1 (01:06:57):
Right, that was weird. Also, let me rewind a little bit.
Was this your worst match of the night as one?
Well not okay, so let me let me talk about
this match and we can get into your pick as
well there, so, uh, we get the match itself. The
match starts Hug Cogan. He's bleeding early, by.

Speaker 2 (01:07:15):
The way, which is why I thought it was fine.

Speaker 1 (01:07:19):
It's fine, but not really. I didn't like the ending
at all. I mean, the matches Hogan and Savage, what
they were doing wasn't terrible. It wasn't terribly exciting neither.
But they at one point left the cage and went
back into the cage, which is like what the hell?

Speaker 2 (01:07:35):
Yeah, it's just it doesn't make sense. And WCW never
had like the escape the cage rules anyway, so that's fair.

Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
But it's like they shouldn't leave the cage at.

Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
All exactly, like what are we doing?

Speaker 1 (01:07:48):
Like why what's the point if they could just get
out and go back in exactly what like, once you
get out, okay, you stay out right? No, they went back.
That was silly. Then Savage climbs to the top of
the cage and jumped all the way off and laying
on his feet just to deliver a double axe handle

(01:08:09):
to Hogan.

Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
Liked why his knee was blowing to smithereens, Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (01:08:15):
He had already done that. That was ninety seven.

Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
Yeah, yeah, when he jumped off in that cage was higher. Yeah,
where he's at right now. And he did the axe.
He tried to do the double axe handle, but he
got roddy piper with one hand. But yeah, that I
think that was the jump that started everything. And the
obviously that this type of stuff doesn't help. He climbed
to the top, he like does the over the top
rope thing, lands on his feet on the mat like

(01:08:43):
that can't help. Like the course of time. Man, you're crazy, man.

Speaker 1 (01:08:51):
Macho madness. Brother, Come on, there's the reason why they
called it that. At some point the disciple gets in
there to help.

Speaker 2 (01:08:59):
Hulk before where we do. He was the disciple too,
following Hogan.

Speaker 1 (01:09:04):
This man, this brutus beef cake. Come on, ed Leslie,
we know who that is. Let me know what you
can got your hair right? Was he the booty man?

Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (01:09:19):
He wasn't a shock that was earthquake? Who was a
shark man? The booty Man, all that stuff? You know
who it is ed leslie back again.

Speaker 2 (01:09:26):
The man with no name. Also, oh my god, he
literally went by the Man with no name.

Speaker 1 (01:09:30):
They just they just like, we tried everything, so we're
just gonna we're not gonna give you a name. Okay,
we're gonna add.

Speaker 2 (01:09:35):
Just I just wonder, like after every name, he has
to sign a new contract that that's his wrestling name.
How funny would that be?

Speaker 1 (01:09:42):
He signed contracts, change his gimmick all the time. Uh,
But he gets in there, he tries to help Hogan
and then Sting repels down from the rafters to get
involved for no real reason. They he gets in there,
he's savage.

Speaker 2 (01:10:03):
He looks all happy on his match, and he just
went back up to the rafters.

Speaker 1 (01:10:06):
He went back up and had to repel back down,
and he put the jacket back on too.

Speaker 2 (01:10:11):
And he didn't redo the face pain though, no half
the face no.

Speaker 1 (01:10:16):
But he he was up there and he was like, oh,
let me drop in on this real quick. Let me
keep it, put my harness on, let me drop down
in here real quick. Because he didn't leave straight out
of Mobile, Alabama after wrestling his match. He stayed there
in the rafters to see what was going on in
his macch that had nothing to do with him. But
here he was dropping in.

Speaker 2 (01:10:35):
He's the champ.

Speaker 1 (01:10:36):
He drops in. Savage is like, yay, my friend is here.
And then all four people in the ring we're talking to. Hogan, Savage,
Sting and ed Leslie are all in the ring, and
then they just look at each other for like it
felt like a long time. I didn't count the seconds

(01:10:56):
of the minutes, but it felt like just off of
my estimate, my unofficial estimate, it was like it felt
like thirty minutes unofficially. So awkward, man, I'm just like,
what's happening, What's going on? And then eventually Randy Savage KNOCKSTI,

(01:11:17):
I mean, the dog you know what, out of thing
right under his chin bow and thing goes down, and
I'm just like, where are we going with this story?
What is the point? I thought Hogan and Savage didn't
like each other. Now they're working together, I guess. But
then Savage leaves and Hogan is yelling at Savage.

Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
He's like he's mad. He spits at Hogan and then leaves.

Speaker 1 (01:11:38):
What do we what's happening?

Speaker 2 (01:11:43):
Like, he makes the four life symbol and as I'm
watching it. This was so the next night on NIGHTRO
they were at Club Leavila for the spring break. So
I'm watching this, I believe before that. So it's like
Monday afternoon after school. I get the tape and I'm
watching it and I'm thinking, okay, like where I guess

(01:12:06):
they're back together. It's not like a power struggle anymore. Uh.
But as it's happening, like I'm thinking that, and once
Randy does the Ford life symbol, it's like, okay, Like
I guess it was just a set up to beat
up Sting again or something. But yet now they're drawing
back and forth to each other, and Hogan goes, you're

(01:12:26):
in the n w O whether you like it or not.
It's like, that's that's not how it works, man, Like
Ray Trailers left the nWo, Like we're not doing this,
like Teti Biassi's left the nWo. Like if they want
to leave the n w O, they're going to leave
the nWo, Like.

Speaker 1 (01:12:40):
Does Savage say he was leaving? Never and him attacking
Sting was if anything, was like, hey, I'm we're still
kind of cool. We both don't like him. I don't.
I'm confused. I'm confused.

Speaker 2 (01:12:55):
Like and the next so then and the next night,
the opening promo is with everybody in the nWo except Randy,
Savage and Hogan's basic big announcement was like, you know,
Randy saw the light. He's back in the nWo. Well
even though he never left, but it's like he saw
the light. Now we're together as one. Later in the program,

(01:13:19):
Savage comes out with Bischoff, and Bischoff's kind of like, yeah, Randy,
Randy's back with the nWo, and Savage pushes Eric and
just says, let's get one thing clear, I still hate Hogan. Basically, Okay,
it's going to be my world title and I'm going
to run the nWo. So there's still a power struggle,

(01:13:42):
but nothing's really accomplished any differently than it was. Like
twenty four hours later, when Savage is dexting, it was like, so,
I don't know what they're doing. I guess to set
up the Spring Stampede match. It's like just to put
the belt eventually back on Hogan because he gets Savage
beating Sting and then Hogan beating Savage. So after that

(01:14:05):
is when you have like the split, you know, with
the wolf Pack and all that. So oh man, I'm
just so you know, Randy's still being like, well, I'm
really not with anyone except Randy Savage.

Speaker 1 (01:14:16):
And right Hogan, like Savage went to the wolf Pack.
If Savage started the wolf Pack, it would maybe make sense.
As far as I can remember, Savage didn't start the
wolf Pack. He was never in the wolf Pack.

Speaker 2 (01:14:28):
No, and at this point, Nash and Hogan are still aligned.
So wait, in the next few weeks, we're gonna see
Nash eventually go on the other side with Randy, and
I think you know, Nash helps Savage win the title
from Stings, so you know, I mean like you.

Speaker 1 (01:14:46):
Just feels like, if Savage is gonna do this pull
this powerplay kind of deal, they splinter into two groups.
Some people follow Savage, some people follow Hogan, and maybe
you have people follow Savage because he wins the title
and then that's when he starts his own group. No allowed,
I know how Kogan allow everybody else, y'all cool, but Hallkogan,
you stay over there or whatever, and then ask how

(01:15:09):
the group gets splintered. Instead, they just did it in
a wonky, weird way.

Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
It's funny as well. No good is allowed, but.

Speaker 1 (01:15:18):
They did it in a weird, wonky way, I think,
and in some cases, you know, maybe drove some people away.
What do you get doing it?

Speaker 2 (01:15:25):
They're doing this as stone cold. See Boston is the
WF champion and going on a run of a lifetime,
like you know, owning the business at this point. Like
I know, w WCW is still hot at the time,
but that's based off what they did in ninety six
and ninety seven. You know. I think Bischoff even said,
and I don't really listen to him much anymore, but

(01:15:45):
he said, like ninety eight was a product of what
we did in ninety six and ninety seven. So you
get that. You know, if if not everyone loves what
you're doing, they're gonna give you a long leash to
kind of, you know, figure it out. Even in that
era of wrestling, like it you were able to do that,
and that's why Halloween Havioc ninety eight was so popular, right,

(01:16:11):
not popular, you know, I had a good bye rate.
I guess they did Hogan Warrior Nash Hall. Like that
was October of ninety eight, so they were still doing
like okay business then. So here, you know, we're in
March and April area, it's like, what are they doing?
LIKEWF is just starting to make that move when Austin

(01:16:33):
is leading the way and on the other side we
have this like but nobody cares about who's leading the nWo.
And I think that's the thing. They thought people cared.

Speaker 1 (01:16:45):
Right, and we thought they thought they were moved on too,
because it's like Sting's.

Speaker 2 (01:16:49):
A chant now, right exactly.

Speaker 1 (01:16:50):
Also, this guy named Goldberg is beating at everybody, like
so we kind of like him too. It's n W
stuff is kind of old news. I mean, the wolf
Pack people did like the wolf Pack, but like, you know,
it's just kind of weird. What was your worst match
of the evening at Unsensored?

Speaker 2 (01:17:06):
The three minute and fifty three second match of Lex
Luger versus Scott Steiner.

Speaker 1 (01:17:12):
Yeah, I had that as an honorable mention now.

Speaker 2 (01:17:15):
That I had promise. I remember being kind of jones
for that one, and it's just nothing. Scott Signer didn't
really do anything until he faced off with Rick, and
that they tried to hold that off until Halloween Havoc,
and then they had it even longer and it's like, oh,
that payoff just waited way too long and whatever Scott like,

(01:17:38):
Scott got the big boppa pump and all that stuff,
and I mean it was nice for his character, I
guess as a whole, but you had the turn the
month before Scott turned on Rick and just nothing between them.
You built to a match and it didn't happen at
Road Wilde. Then he built to a match and then

(01:17:59):
like it didn't happen Fall brawl and it's like that's
again months after this that we're just getting like a
match advertised and then it's not happening, and it's just
so annoying the way they handled that. And I don't
know why they waited that long, but you know, I
just didn't think I think it Mick made Rick look

(01:18:20):
like a dufis a lot, and I liked Rick at
that time. Obviously I hated Scott because of what he did.
And then Lex Luger. I always had a soft spot
for him from especially what happened when he beat Hogan
on Nitro for the title. I was like, that's the
moment that I wanted in like nineteen ninety three when
he beat Yokazuna that we never got. And like, I

(01:18:41):
just liked Lex. I just liked him as a wrestler.
I thought he was like a nice guy, you know,
like he wasn't a jerk or anything. He didn't enjoin
the nWo or anything. Like he was a good county
you know, he's not.

Speaker 1 (01:18:52):
Initially he well, yeah, a future wolf Pack member Lex Luger.

Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
Well yeah, two, but he welcomed the Giant back and
the WCWS. Like, man, Lex is a good guy. I
like him. And then he beat Hogan for the title
and I was like, oh yeah, like Lex.

Speaker 1 (01:19:08):
Is the man generic rock music. The music, oh man,
I love very generic rock music.

Speaker 2 (01:19:14):
Loved it. But it worked, it did it did, Like.

Speaker 1 (01:19:17):
The fans popped a mobile for a Lex Luga.

Speaker 2 (01:19:20):
But that match man, Yeah, that was.

Speaker 1 (01:19:26):
Good and not good enough, not good enough.

Speaker 2 (01:19:31):
And it's funny because I guess I don't know why
they did this, but Rick body drops Scott over the
top rope. It's like, well, like some of these bumps,
I'm just like, oh my god, afraid and uh, just
for that moment, like you're gonna do that. And Scott Norton,
he's coming out to help Scott Steiner and he Rick

(01:19:56):
body drops Scott over the ropes, and Norton's just kind
of like he's like, all right, get up, you know,
get up, not even like checking on. I'm not even
looking worried about him, like oh man, Like nobody's really
paying attention to the details around here. At this point,
it was really frustrating.

Speaker 1 (01:20:12):
About nWo with what life, man, You canna help your
man up.

Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
Man's like you came you came out of here, Scott Norton,
like you came out here. I thought you were gonna
help your boy.

Speaker 1 (01:20:22):
Be the support staff that you are as far as
the n W O help your man's. But let's shift
gears to non wrestling happenings. I got mine in again,
top non wrestling happening, worst non wrestling happening all road
into one.

Speaker 2 (01:20:38):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:20:39):
And I'm curious this is where you're gonna go with this,
But for me, I'm going with the postmatch from the
Cruise Away Championship, not the match.

Speaker 2 (01:20:50):
Guess what one clip I have man.

Speaker 1 (01:20:54):
Today, that's fantastic. My boy me and Jean. This is
Crusewey Championship, Chris Jericho defending against de Malenko, and de
Malenko had a hard fought match against Chris Jericho, but
he came up short. And this is what immediately follows.
This was a match he wanted.

Speaker 2 (01:21:15):
This was something he wanted.

Speaker 3 (01:21:17):
All right, Jeans in the ring now ging go ahead,
Jean Malinko. Everybody thought coming into this match here tonight
that you were gonna beat Chris Jericho. I talked to
people in Las Vegas, Nevada. Oh yeah, money on it,
even picked you to win tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:21:38):
He have money on this. This look at him. De
Malenko is very sad right now.

Speaker 3 (01:21:49):
Yes, Dean Milanko, I've known you sent you but a
young man U. I knew your great father that preceded
you in this tremendous sport before you, Dean Malenko. This
is a match that you should would have won tonight
and you didn't.

Speaker 2 (01:22:02):
Damn. It's like okay, okay, like relats brother.

Speaker 1 (01:22:06):
Why they call him mean? Jean?

Speaker 3 (01:22:08):
All right, Dean Malenco, you are oer for four w
C W MEGA. I'm gonna go back to stark. You
on the carpet Starcade when it sold out.

Speaker 2 (01:22:23):
You didn't win. It's super broul and you didn't win
here tonight. Damn.

Speaker 3 (01:22:28):
Now you are a bona fide loser.

Speaker 2 (01:22:31):
No, it smokes, you don't talk.

Speaker 3 (01:22:35):
Wait a second, I don't think anyone to Where does
Dean Malenco go from here?

Speaker 2 (01:22:44):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (01:22:44):
The smokes home?

Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
Oh he talked.

Speaker 1 (01:22:48):
What does he mean by that?

Speaker 2 (01:22:49):
He going home? Bro left, He's going home. I don't
have a clue.

Speaker 3 (01:22:58):
The man answers no questions and cons.

Speaker 1 (01:23:04):
It was racked across the coves by exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:23:09):
Did you ever see him after a match? That kind
of demeanor, never at all, never shows emotion.

Speaker 1 (01:23:16):
Hey, yo, there's so much to unpack here, Okay, because
Gene Oakland is living up to the nickname of being mean.
All right, this man just lost and he comes out
and remember this right for the fourth time. Apparently this
is worse than what happened with Medusa, and it's over

(01:23:37):
for you. I mean, they're both pretty bad.

Speaker 2 (01:23:38):
Actually, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:23:39):
They might be equal, because he was telling that your
career is over, it's over for your tot is done.

Speaker 2 (01:23:43):
A career ending match too, so he was just spending
facts at that point.

Speaker 1 (01:23:48):
I guess, but this was like, good lord, you come
out here. You supposed to, man, I have money on you.
That's pretty much what he's saying. I talked to the
people in Vegas, which is like people were betting on this,
so okay, So jeans out hitting the crap tables and
putting money down here right, hitting the casinos and mobile

(01:24:09):
if there's any out there. I don't know if gambling
is legalized in Alabama. I know it's legalized in at
least just casinos in Louisiana, but I'm not sure about Alabama.
But he's clearly hit the hit the sports book to
put money down on his on on on this show
Uncensored and is up set that he came up on

(01:24:33):
a short end.

Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
He's worried about he's making bets.

Speaker 1 (01:24:38):
How much money did he put that on Dean Malenko?
Because this is clearly where this is coming from. It
has to be coming from somewhere.

Speaker 2 (01:24:48):
He indeed is like by this on thousands, Yo, he
lost a gad.

Speaker 1 (01:24:55):
I thought for sure he's gonna win this time. Even
people in Vegas is like, yo, he finding go. He
fended he's been to be a new champ and he lost.

Speaker 2 (01:25:01):
Again, he's looking at the history books, like dad's never
lost four to row. Right.

Speaker 1 (01:25:07):
They put it into work, He put into research, he studied,
He put that on a what he thought was a
sound bet. This is a winner winner chicken dinner. My
boy didn't gonna come through, and he didn't come through.
So he came out and act like pretty much how
fans do today when they lose in their parlays. Because
people be The animosity on social media towards athletes is wild,

(01:25:30):
just wild in general. Now It's always been, you know,
pretty bad, but like worse now for a lot of reasons.
But among them is that people put money on these games,
now one now than ever, and then if somebody don't perform,
they losing money, little real money, lots of it in
some cases. So man, they speak out of anger for

(01:25:51):
how much they about to lose? Bro, Like I just
spent my kids tuition payment for private school this month. Woo,
why did you drop that pass?

Speaker 2 (01:26:00):
Nobody can't keep that, by the way, can't go to school.
I gotta work over time. So why is it little
billy in school today? Well lost last night and.

Speaker 1 (01:26:16):
The bookie is looking for me. So but so did
that happen, So we got that from Gene. Then he
calls him because of that, a bona fide loser.

Speaker 2 (01:26:28):
Not even just a loser, like a bona fide loser.

Speaker 1 (01:26:31):
Straight up can't be questioned loser, rattled off all the
time he's lost. You are, oh for four, what do
you have to say for yourself?

Speaker 2 (01:26:40):
Right?

Speaker 1 (01:26:41):
What do you have to say for yourself? There? Bona
fide loser?

Speaker 2 (01:26:46):
What the original cage match down that Gene okerlin.

Speaker 1 (01:26:49):
Bro How come Dean Milingo didn't just whoop up on
me and Jean?

Speaker 2 (01:26:54):
Right?

Speaker 1 (01:26:54):
Like?

Speaker 2 (01:26:56):
How's he going to let him talk to him like that?
Where does he get a man doing?

Speaker 1 (01:27:00):
Who does he think he is? He not the man
of a thousand holes? I'm about to put him in
all one thousand ofher right now? I said, I would
have said if I was Dean, I would have thought
of a new one, just to add added to the
list for for for Jean, Dean and Jean. But then
he Demlingo actually says something. He says, where you going

(01:27:22):
from here? He said, I'm going home? Which is that's
the answer to his question? He going home for how long?
We don't know? But he goes that's the next place
you're gonna find him. Is that his house? Okay, it's
clearly going to take some time to do some soul
searching after losing again. But that answer is not good
enough for me and Gene.

Speaker 2 (01:27:41):
Not man. They're gonna be a club Lavila tomorrow night
with the hell.

Speaker 1 (01:27:45):
Tomorrow right, you can't go home.

Speaker 2 (01:27:48):
It's spring break, okay, presented by a cinnerbursts.

Speaker 1 (01:27:55):
Look at that? That is what the hell's a cineburst?
That like a soda.

Speaker 2 (01:28:02):
A burst winner, or there were bursts in a.

Speaker 1 (01:28:07):
Burst of flavor. Look at that. Okay, but yeah, that's crazy.
It's so wild that not only was he berating him,
then he the answer to the question he gave wasn't
good enough. It's like this guy never answered any of
my questions.

Speaker 2 (01:28:20):
He just did. The last time Jeane was this heated
in an interview was when Hault Cogan turned hetel.

Speaker 1 (01:28:29):
He might have had money on that too.

Speaker 2 (01:28:31):
He had somebody else's the third man amazing wore was well,
he had sting.

Speaker 1 (01:28:38):
That's original plan, right. What do you mean, is Hogan?
What the hell are you doing here?

Speaker 2 (01:28:42):
Hogan?

Speaker 1 (01:28:43):
It's supposed to be you I had money on sting,
what the hell are you doing here? So, yeah, that
was that was wild. That was wild for the top
commentator just berate a wrestler who just.

Speaker 2 (01:28:59):
We hadn't seen it it, like even in that time,
like Jane wasn't really doing that, Like, yeah, we made
fun of his Medusa and you know the Hall Coka
and bast of the Beach, but like this wasn't the
norm for Gino.

Speaker 1 (01:29:10):
He just felt weird. His whole demeanor, his whole vibe
was weird. He walks out and he kind of acts
like he's gonna talk to He thought he's gonna talk
to Jericho, and he kind of played Jericho.

Speaker 2 (01:29:21):
Ready to start talking.

Speaker 1 (01:29:23):
And he just walks casually walks by him like he's
not even there.

Speaker 3 (01:29:27):
Bro.

Speaker 1 (01:29:29):
It was I'm like, who where does he get off
acting like this? Like these wrestlers can't beat up this
old man, you know Manadin in the day Gen.

Speaker 2 (01:29:41):
He's got a fleet of lawyers. Man, he's gonna suit
your ass.

Speaker 1 (01:29:47):
All right, but we're still getting beat up first, Bro,
Like you're gonna need lawyers to help you for the
lawsuit after you got destroyed by the man of a
thousand holes, Bro, Like, what's wrong with you?

Speaker 2 (01:30:00):
A chill out you?

Speaker 1 (01:30:00):
Oh he washed even it was like twenty years year junior.

Speaker 2 (01:30:05):
He beat you up out here, bro, Make Jean get
beat some ice.

Speaker 1 (01:30:09):
Oh my goodness, Oh my goodness. I mean, but it's true, man, Look,
can't be talking to me like that.

Speaker 2 (01:30:17):
Dude. Shit. When Dean was leaving, he was looking right
at the camera, even though the camera did see him.
But you see him walk towards the ropes, look staring
stright at the camera. But I don't know what the
hell this guy's.

Speaker 1 (01:30:28):
Dealer is savagery, Bro.

Speaker 2 (01:30:30):
You know you can hear him, he's on the microphone.

Speaker 1 (01:30:33):
Dean was just so despondent. I guess he just didn't care.
He just so desponded about losing again. He didn't even care.
I guess a more exuberant and happy Dean wouldn't have
let that happen. But like, he's not in a good
place at this time. Was there ever any follow up
on why me and Jean was so mean to Dean?

(01:30:55):
Was there ever any follow up on that? I don't
think there was.

Speaker 2 (01:30:58):
I was good man, I didn't see that coming. Uh No,
I I I don't. I don't remember, honestly, I mean
as possible there was if they showed a highlight sort of.
Jericho was on my show the next night, and then
maybe they had Jeane on on the mic say something

(01:31:20):
before or after. I don't know, but yeah, we didn't.
We went and see Dean for a month.

Speaker 1 (01:31:26):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:31:27):
Well then when he came back, he wasn't Dean Malinkoy.

Speaker 1 (01:31:33):
Was that Slamberrie. It was Slamberrie ninety eight one.

Speaker 2 (01:31:38):
I didn't get to tape, by the way, so that
was a show man.

Speaker 1 (01:31:41):
You didn't get a chance to see a sequel.

Speaker 2 (01:31:43):
Okay, Yeah. My neighbor was like, nah, not today, get
out of here, kid. I was like, no, but as Slamberrie,
what a Slamberrie.

Speaker 1 (01:31:50):
You gotta have it. I gotta Slamberrie just going around
crying like Rudy from the movie Rudy. I know you
haven't seen Rudy. Oh man, he just cries the whole movie.
I noticed some Notre Dame fans listening out there, and
guess where. I don't care. That movie sucks. Take who

(01:32:13):
you just wanted to complain the whole damn movie. O
God to play for Notre Dame.

Speaker 2 (01:32:18):
It's my dream.

Speaker 1 (01:32:19):
Then he let us punk ass play and he was
off sides. I couldn't play the whole team gonna give
up their uniform for this second here giving up my
uniform for him? You wow, I just want to play
for the Irish.

Speaker 2 (01:32:40):
I don't know why. I just about it. I thought
that was like back then. I thought that was like
the real Rudy. So whenever I saw Salt Ashen and
like a different movie, I'm like, oh, Rudy is.

Speaker 1 (01:32:50):
Like who played he thought it was a documentary.

Speaker 2 (01:33:00):
I was like, Oh, Rudy Ruddier is in this movie too.

Speaker 1 (01:33:03):
That's crazy. He's a celeb now, good for him, Good
for Rudy science oh man, No, because they had real
football players like Emmitt Smith and uh Tim Brown's and
of course John Madden as well. Right you go, boom
boom boom me here. I don't know what the heck

(01:33:24):
we are.

Speaker 2 (01:33:27):
There's no wrestler there, but damn it, we need to do.

Speaker 1 (01:33:29):
A deep We might have to bro there might be
somebody who wrestled and played football or something. There's some
connect somebody who did something. Ed O'Neil. He probably hit
a wrestling episode of Married with Children of something. Damn it,
I'll find a reason. Uh, Devin sas in it. Come on, now,
we got.

Speaker 2 (01:33:46):
Something like Rick moranis had a wrestle media or something.

Speaker 1 (01:33:49):
Come on something something. Just give us the reason, give
us a reason, Give me a reason to do that
for fun? All right, favorite favorite football movie off all
the time, Little Giants, because I man, we could do
that for hours. Started. Yeah, but but did you have
another moment that was non wrestling related that you wanted

(01:34:12):
to do highlight?

Speaker 2 (01:34:13):
So this this also happened after a match. Just well,
I don't know what WCW's creative juices were doing at
this time, but you debut Brett Hart as the referee
at Starcade. Nice little thing with Bischoffensibisco. He turns on Bischoff, okay,

(01:34:36):
but then he looks like a little Dufis with the
Hogan sting ending and then boom, right away he goes
into a few with Rick Flair. I thought that was weird.
It's like, oh, I thought he was here to take
on the nWo, but okay, we'll do WCW versus WW
two the biggest guys in WCW whatever. I don't even
remember what he did at Super Bowl or even if

(01:34:58):
he did anything at Super Bowl and now he's facing
Kurt Henning. Okay, back to w W versus nWo whatever.
Kurt Henning bad head shape in this match. I actually
I wasn't gonna put it his worst match.

Speaker 1 (01:35:13):
But dude, I don't know what fun It wasn't a
fun match to watch.

Speaker 2 (01:35:18):
Kurt just didn't have it that night. And but you know,
Brett wins. But after the match, Rick Rud's interfering the
entire match, by the way, But after the match, and
this is my worst non wrestling happening, Kurt Henning and
Rick Rude just destroy Brett Hart, Like what why? Like

(01:35:44):
so you get Brett to win, but then does Kurt
need his heat back or something? Need his heat back
or something. They totally leave him laying in the ring
and just kind of look around like very big bed guys.
It's like, and you did the bread Hart bro right.
I that was terrible.

Speaker 1 (01:36:06):
The fans didn't buy it neither. It wasn't like the
fans in the mobile was like yay, love this or
like boo, we hate this. Right, He's kind of there
just like okay, well, very Hart and his terrible theme
music got beat.

Speaker 2 (01:36:17):
Up, like your Brett's already on the downswing. Now it's
like at this point, we're three months in, over three
months in, and it's just like what are they doing
with Brett? Like Brett should be one B but maybe
behind sting taking on the nWo, you know, like with

(01:36:39):
how he left WWF and how they could have capitalized.
I thought they did a good job to lead up
the starcade and then just okay, Brett Hart versus Rick
Flair in January? Why like why why? Like just because
it's best versus best, like to be the man, you
gotta beat the man, Okay, Like okay, it's just and

(01:37:00):
then they go to this and it's just a month
later you get Brett turning heel and siding with Hogan.

Speaker 1 (01:37:07):
So it's like, where are we going? Like I said,
with the Hogan Savage sting nonsense, where.

Speaker 2 (01:37:15):
Are we're going? I mean, Brett is the reason Hogan
beat Savage for the title. That the day after a
sprint Stampede, he came, he came out, hit Kevin Nash
with the belt, put Hogan over top of Savage and boom,
and then Piper comes out because I think Piper is
back and he's like the chairman or not chairman but
maybe the president again or something. He's he's making matches,

(01:37:38):
you know, and he Brett eventually decks him. So it's
like then they go off the air. Tony Schmaddy is
shocked and everything, and it's like, oh, man, like four
months of Brett Hart and w CW is ruined. Like
they cannot rehab him his image. Like even when he
won the WCW title, it was like not Brett the
hitman heart, you know, and he said it really good,

(01:38:00):
like w W killed his hipman character.

Speaker 1 (01:38:03):
Well he said, Vince did yeahen WW.

Speaker 2 (01:38:06):
So w CW could have like rehab that, especially with
how he started. I thought like he was hot, you know,
it wasn't like for a month and you know when
he comes back, you're gonna have to work his way back.
It's like, no, he was still there and they just
totally screwed him. And this is the type of stuff
that doesn't help, you know, Like he beats Kurt Henning

(01:38:30):
in a match, a bad match, and then he gets
the crap kicked out of him, like and nobody comes
out to help him, and it's just.

Speaker 1 (01:38:39):
Like, well he's got no friends.

Speaker 2 (01:38:42):
And for this, I was like, oh, my god, like
this is bad, like this looks really really bad, and
I like, for for what what are we doing to
make Kurt Henning look like he needs his heat back?
After losing the bread Hart. Kurt had a bad night man,
He was not He was slipped and all over the place,

(01:39:02):
just Brett was struggling with him. But then Brett gets
his buck kicked after it just it sucked.

Speaker 1 (01:39:08):
Yeah, it was rough. And again brett'st the music for
ww garbage a massive step down from what he had
in w w F, which was still still to this
day a banger. But this on this night at least
what we heard on Peacock not it, No, not it
at all. Move on to some hidden gems. I got

(01:39:32):
one an n ring one me too. I got the
match between Hoove and two Guerrera versus Conan as a
hidden gym.

Speaker 2 (01:39:41):
What do you have here Booker T and Eddie Guerrero. Okay, okay,
I thought that was I can't really go wrong there,
booker T at this time is great. And Eddie's Eddie
you know, the Chavo thing at ringside kind of smirking,
he just kind of beating him up a little bit.
I thought that was funny, but yeah, I I I
didn't like Codan Hoovey too much to put them as

(01:40:04):
a hidden gen. I think Hoovey got hurt too, and.

Speaker 1 (01:40:07):
It looked like it. Now here's my thing about it.
I like the story that they told and that uh
Conan was very nonchalant moving dude, and he kept doing
the nonchalant pins and eventually it came back to bite him.
And I liked the match, and I liked uh Conan
just tossing Hoovy around multiple times. I mean he literally

(01:40:31):
tossed him out of the ring after the match. But
I thought some of those sup plexus he was throwing
was pretty cool, throwing him around like a rag doll.
But that one move where he kind of just sat down,
that was rough and looked like he damned there broke
hoving Tude's neck and he was moving a little bit.

Speaker 2 (01:40:48):
Slower after that, but maybe broke a rib or something.

Speaker 1 (01:40:53):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:40:57):
Yeah, his neck was definitely like, oh my god.

Speaker 1 (01:41:00):
Yeah, it might have been a rid because the way
he got crunched up there. I don't know what was
supposed to happen. If that was was supposed to happen,
I don't know. But it didn't look good and he
still eventually hit at four fifty, which is wild, but
he but he did not win with it, obviously. But
I like this match, like the story they told. I
did find it weird though, that Hooven dude had just
been unmasked and I didn't realize until Tony said it.

(01:41:23):
But he was only twenty one, yeah, years old, and
they've already unmasked him. He's barely couldn't he's barely old
enough to drink in his country, and they've said, now
start a holding chapter to your career. And then here
Bobby did brain heen and go like, oh he might

(01:41:44):
be better without it. It's like, come on, man, Like
that's that was rough. But the matches stuff I thought
was one that I enjoorge more than I thought I
would watching it back, so.

Speaker 2 (01:41:56):
I would YEA not a bad match I liked. I
guess it'd be an honorable mention for an e gen,
but yeah, Codein he didn't do anything much for me
at this point. I liked his view with Ray more,
you know, the previous in ninety seven, but then Ray's

(01:42:17):
like knees were shot at that point, so they didn't
really get great matches. Yeah it was a month. Yeah,
a month prior to this whov he lost his mask
and everything, and it's like, man, they're really you know
again And Bischoff I said before he regrets it, but
that his thought process was they would connect with the

(01:42:38):
fans more, audience more. But it's like, yeah, but like
they've already connected. You're not giving them enough time to
connect with the North America or the US audience. They're
already connected with, like the Mexican audience, you know. Like
so that was something that I didn't think he needed.
And but yeah, Conan just again and wo beating people

(01:43:02):
up after matches, just like, oh my god, can we
stop for one night? Like I know it's uncensored, but geez,
like it was all the time. Yea, they like we
need our heat.

Speaker 1 (01:43:14):
Back, calling it unsented. Nobody even cursed. They had to
bleep out one word on.

Speaker 2 (01:43:19):
This show again, was it? I think there was a
power bomb spot here too as well when we talked
about that one spot, but there was an attempted power
bomb and apparently like this was supposed to be out
lawed in w CW, so An he like cruiseweights did
it all the time, but they never got disqualified m

(01:43:41):
because it was supposed to be for the whole company,
but really it was only for Kevin Nash.

Speaker 1 (01:43:48):
Yeah, stop trying to power bomb the Giant. That looked
terrible when you did that. That sold out, good lord,
But yeah, you're hitting Jim Eddie Guerrero versus Book a
T for the Television Championship. Good match, good opener into
the show. I did find it funny that Tony Shavani
called a spinebuster a sidewalk slam, and Bobby the Brainhenon

(01:44:15):
wanted to take Eddie Garrell's place and the Guerrero family
will and come up on an inheritance of some sort.
He thought it would be like a fifty six buick somehow,
but that's what he said. But yeah, we get this
match book a T one with a drop kick. Missile
drop kick by the way, which is he did.

Speaker 2 (01:44:35):
Okay okay is one of his finishers.

Speaker 1 (01:44:39):
Yeah, the Hallum hangover and he had a missile drop kick.

Speaker 2 (01:44:41):
I remember thinking I didn't like the missile drop kick
as a finisher, like.

Speaker 1 (01:44:45):
What and same and but that's why he sai, why
he doesn't use it anymore?

Speaker 2 (01:44:49):
So he but also found it funny Eddie working on
Booker Tsney the whole match, and I guess the first
time he went up for the kit or the vessel dropkick,
Eddie moved so Booker landed on his feet but no
cells anything, So oh, I guess his knee is okay.

(01:45:10):
You know, I just one of those things where I'm
just like w CW wrestlers sold very well and Bookers
included in that, but like you just fly off the
top rope and land on your feet and not even
like show ill effects of the need. That's what I
worked on the entire match. It was like, come on,
that's why it was not my best match.

Speaker 1 (01:45:34):
That's fair. That's fair. Doctored points exactly, doctor points from me.
It's splitting hairs, man splitting hairs comes down.

Speaker 2 (01:45:39):
To the final watch Brett Hart matches.

Speaker 1 (01:45:43):
Damn it, damn it.

Speaker 2 (01:45:45):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:45:46):
That's all I have from that. I got some random
notes or at least a couple, not a lot. You
had a lot. Well, let me start off with the
fact that, well, that's fair, but not Dusty Rhodes selling
his soul Big dust Man to the New World Order,
Dusty Roads, no dusty nose, looking strange coming out there.

(01:46:07):
Don't even look right coming out there with Scott Hall.

Speaker 2 (01:46:12):
But he's not even wearing another W shirt tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:46:15):
He's got the hat though. It's just that he still
has his like call those types of shirts, those long
jazz type shirts.

Speaker 2 (01:46:22):
That's my style.

Speaker 1 (01:46:23):
I like that big Dusty style too, apparently, at least
in ninety eight.

Speaker 2 (01:46:27):
The jeans, the boots and the long sleeve with the
two buttons. Love it.

Speaker 1 (01:46:33):
I don't know if you take your style cues some
Dusty Roads ninety eight, Dusty Roads man, you could do better.
And he was cool and now especial when he's snuck
into the ring and tried to give Engasting the elbow.
He's all prancing around the ring.

Speaker 2 (01:46:48):
Oh yeah, Like you can't feel that.

Speaker 1 (01:46:54):
Apparently not man, apparently not. I'm just not used to
seeing Dusty Roads past weapon. It's the bad guys, like
he passing Scott Hall for an object and it didn't
matter because Stings still won. But and then Dusty just
looked at him athletic match. He's like, you know what,
I ain't gonna do nothing, and then Sting said, suck
it in the left. That was pretty good. But that's

(01:47:17):
pretty much my only no oh, I got the the
Spring Stampede commercials kind of epic with a shirtless Goldberg
yelling in a barn. Yeah, spring Stampede. So that's all
I got. That's my notes from Uncensored ninety six. Well,
also we got Brett hart Winn and Calgary Hitman Jersey.

(01:47:40):
I did that as well, and they have clinched a
playoff spot in the Western Hockey League playoffs. Are currently
third place in the Eastern Conference. So I bought those hipmen.
It's a Canadian league, man, So I mean, look, what
do you want me to say? That's what I saw.
That's a read it wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:48:00):
So we got like a Nova Scotian team or something
that could be Look, let.

Speaker 1 (01:48:04):
Me look at it again, sketch. Check the standings one
more time. All right, here we go, Eastern Conference, Calgary
Hitman number three. I mean they got teams, I guess
more west of that. They got a team in Spokane,
which is not even in Canada. They got a team
in Everett, Washington, also not in Canada. I guess it's

(01:48:25):
the Western Hockey Leagues. It's not Canadian, it's not specifically Canadian.
So Spokane, Washington, Everett, Washington, you know, Seattle, Seattle, Thunderbirds,
cam Loops. That's in BC Columbia, Colowna. You know, so
I'm assuming British Columbia is more western Alberta. So pretty
sure that's the case. So in this case they're in

(01:48:46):
the east because all those teams in the east are
like Saskatoon, that Saskatchewan Alberta. You know, I know some
Canadian geography shout out to our Canadian friends up north
moose Yaw. Pretty sure that's in Saskatchewan as well, you know.
So yeah, there's that Cagrey Hitman. That's all I got.
I'm done now, I.

Speaker 2 (01:49:06):
Uh, you know, speaking of Canada, I thought it was
funny Kurt heading Uh grabbed the Canadian flag sign that
Tony Schmanni called a replica Canadian flag, just a sign
that looked like Canada. They didn't have the maple leaf
though completely, I don't think. I think it just said Canada.

(01:49:29):
Maybe the leaf was behind it. But it seemed like
he was gonna bring it in the ring and teary
depart or something, but he thought better of it.

Speaker 1 (01:49:36):
Probably the best.

Speaker 2 (01:49:38):
I mean, he's from Minnesota, you would think that he
enjoys the Canadian friends. And maybe he's like, I shouldn't
we just do this?

Speaker 1 (01:49:45):
You know, these flags alone, you know, right supposed allies?

Speaker 2 (01:49:50):
What they were at that point, Well, it was looked
like a flag, so maybe that's She was like, no, what,
I'm gonna rip it. But then he decided not to,
so good for him for having that. But he was
also wearing a ton of oil. And when they locked
up the first time, he could see Brett look at
his hands, see it was kind of wild, and said

(01:50:12):
something to the ref probably something like, dude, give me
a towel, bron oil man, what the hell not slipping
slaughter on here? And which, by the way, he pardeating
would slip a lot touring that match, But I don't
think it was from the oil though. But I did
like how Mike Today brought up Brett beating Kurt in
the summer of ninety one. Oh, but they didn't say WWF.

Speaker 1 (01:50:36):
Or why would you?

Speaker 2 (01:50:39):
And he didn't said he was there. I thought that
was funny because and Tony had asked he was, and
Tony had asked him if he was managing Kurt, and
he said no, I was just doing the broadcasting. But
I was waiting for like the punchline. There was none.
It was just almost having a regular conversation. Was weird.

Speaker 1 (01:51:01):
He's a straight live.

Speaker 2 (01:51:04):
Well, he wasn't managing.

Speaker 1 (01:51:07):
Man at Coach, was right. I think I used to
have Coach at that point, not Bobby, so he was
actually telling the truth for once. The weasel wasn't lying.

Speaker 2 (01:51:20):
And uh so by this point obviously my other note,
that was it for that match. I also have a
note six Pack had been released before this, not maybe
not just before, but he at this point he was
not a w CW employee. He would obviously debut again

(01:51:41):
in WWF A couple of weeks later. The day after
WrestleMania fourteen, Scott Hall gave six packs some love on
his way to the ring. Uh don't for his match
with good Sting. He gives like the sign goes, uh,
we love you six pack or something like that. Whatever.
Kevin Nash did not do that. I rewounded. I went

(01:52:02):
back and I watched both the entrances after that, and yeah,
Nash did not do that. He might have done it
off camera, but he did not do it to the
camera the way Scott Hall did. So I thought that
was kind of funny. Kevin Nash just not interested in
showing his best friends in love. I guess, damn when
we have. During that World Heavyweight title match with Scott

(01:52:24):
Hall and Sting, Scott took a funny bump to where
his toes got caught in the ropes and he tried
to do like the upside down thing on the outside,
hanging on the outside. For some reason, Dusty moves his
legs and Scott's just falls right on this.

Speaker 1 (01:52:42):
I thought Dusty's gonna catch him for a second, right.

Speaker 2 (01:52:44):
I was that a rib Like, was Dusty's messing with
Scott or something? I thought that was hilarious. I remounded
back because I didn't know if it was maybe an accident,
but no, Dusty was like, no, I'll help you didn't
really help him. I don't think, what do you want
me to do? I can't catch you. You just see
Scott fall. It's just like, oh man uh. And in

(01:53:07):
that match, the referee Mark Curtis one of my favorite
referees of all time, Scott distraction. Dusty comes in. Obviously,
I put he was gallavanting around the ring hilarious and
again apparently Mark cannot feel that. But also he takes

(01:53:32):
a bump when Sting shoves Haul into the ref Mark
Curtis's eyes rolling in the back of his head as
he collapses. It was such a funny visual, like Scott
barely made contact with him, and then the angle they're
showing the cameraman is in the corner taking that so

(01:53:53):
we see the bump lay head on and then we
see like a slow motion replay of it after the
match is over, and just so funny. Mark gets hit
in the corner and then his eyes rolling the back
of his head he collapses. Oh but don't worry, I
time this twenty five seconds. From the moment, his eyes

(01:54:13):
roll in the back of his head until he makes
the one the pin count. Wow, Scott Hall and Sting
is covering Scott Hall. Sting hits him with the scorpion
death drop and uh, Mark's back you know. To be fair,
Sting did pick him up afterwards and kind of lean
him on the ropes, so maybe that helped. But from
the moment Mark Curtis his eyes rolled in the back

(01:54:35):
of his head until he started the one count for
the pin. Twenty five seconds pretty much. Even he's a
fast heeler, he really heals quick man. Uh. You notice
Hull Covian had a chip tooth.

Speaker 1 (01:54:50):
I did not notice that.

Speaker 2 (01:54:52):
It's funny because he you know, no promo from him, right,
But the next night on Nitro, you definitely notice it
because you can hear it. And I was cracking up
when I was watching that promo on night Stro. I
was like, yes, that's definitely a chip tooth.

Speaker 1 (01:55:05):
You're whistling a little bit, A little.

Speaker 2 (01:55:07):
Bit, that's crazy, not a lot. Like you could tell
this sounds weird coming from hault Cogan, Like we're so
used to the certain cadence, you know, and his promos,
and it wasn't the same. And I was like, that
must be that tooth because you could definitely see something's
going on a chip tooth or something. Maybe maybe it's
he's missing a full tooth, but it's definitely at least chipped.

(01:55:30):
I couldn't really get a great angle of it, but
I thought that was funny. And I also thought Hogan
coming out first and Brady Savage second was interesting because
that always used to be something talked about, whoever comes
out second always wins, right, Well, maybe that's why Hogan
was okay coming out first because there was no winner

(01:55:53):
in the main event on this night. So yeah, everyone
lost on this night after the main ement. But my
last random thought, I thought it was really funny they
started adding nWo to the pay per view names after
it kind of like lost its sizzle. Like they made

(01:56:18):
sure JJ Dillon made sure that sold out ninety eight
would have WCW in the name, because obviously they wanted
the pay per view buys. They wanted people to order
that pay per view because January ninety seven and WO
sold out did not get a lot of buys, so
they wanted to add WCW in there. But now super

(01:56:39):
Brawl is WCWNWO. Super Brawl uncensored is WCW nWo uncensored.
I just thought it was very funny. I thought it
was probably not. I don't know what they were trying
to do with that, but maybe you should have tried
that ninety seven, you know, maybe. But yeah, by this point,

(01:57:00):
I was like, yeah, they lost the sluster. You're already
you're already teasing a split in that faction, So why
are you Why are you kind of advertising that it's
their event too, Like, I don't buy it doesn't make sense, man.
I just thought it was funny, and they do that
for like the rest of the year. I forget when
they just went back. It might have been ninety nine, obviously,

(01:57:23):
sometime in ninety nine where it was just that ww
with that new logo and all that no no more
wwiwo pay per views. But I don't know if ninety
eight was the best time to start that trend.

Speaker 1 (01:57:37):
Well, they tried a couple of things and they didn't
necessarily work. But that's Nice ninety eight for WCW, this
series of things that didn't work. But that's uncensoredive from
Nice ninety eight. That's how deep dive into the show.
