Speaker 1 (00:13):
What's up everyone out there, Internet Land, and welcome to
episode four twenty six of the Straight Shooters available wherever
podcasts are found. My name is Vaughn Johnson and I'm
joined as always by my main man Pots and Pans, Nicko,
Pocona Fox, phl The Gambler and Philly Influencer, and we
have yet another fantastic show ahead of us here on
episode four twenty six. It is a deep dive. It
(00:36):
is a Patrenon request. We're going back in the time,
all the way back to twenty eighteen. We're going back
to about this time in twenty eighteen, April seventh, twenty eighteen,
to be exact, what will happened on that day NXT
takeover New Orleans, one of my favorite cities in the world,
New Orleans, of course, April seventh, twenty eighteen, from the
(00:58):
Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. On top of
the cart. That night, Johnny Gorgano versus Tima Soul Champa
in an unsanctioned match which Beryl Borer a somewhat of
a resemblance to the unsanctioned match we just got in
WW recently, and a lot of matches, the crown of
the first ever NXT North American Champion, and a whole
(01:19):
lot of other stuff happened on this show. And again
it's a Patreon request, so you can make one of those.
Head over to patreon dot com slash Shooters Radio to
have your deep dive covered on an upcoming episode of
The Straight Shooters as well, and you can make a
cameo on the show that we're diving into. So we
will have a cameo once again on this show for
this patreonon request. But before we get into that, let
(01:41):
me do my weekly check on my main man, pots
and pants. Nick, how are you on this Friday, gloomy
Friday afternoon, My good brother, I'm wet. Come on, man,
I can't start off like that.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
It's raining cats and dogs out here, man, Like I'm
afraid we're gonna get a sinkhole somewhere, and like it's
been raining all week. It feels like maybe even longer
than that. So yeah, I mean, it's it's kind of
tiresome at this point. Yeah, get flag football, man, get
it together's.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Messing up my flag football time. I'm not playing being
able to play flag football to the mall because it's
just raining. And it rained last weekend too, we managed
to play, but this weekend is a no is a
no go.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
So I get I feel like we're about to get
some news stories of sinkholes opening up everywhere, and it's like,
oh no, Like whenever we have like a long period
of rain, I feel like we all we get some
of those news stories at some point after that or
maybe even Doring who knows. I hope not, and I
hope I'm not part of it.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
So I feel like that has happened recently, right.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Right, Like it freaks me out now, man, Like I
think about it very often, maybe too often, but when
it we haven't had rain in so long, right, like
back in the fall, we went like almost over a
month without rainfall, and now we're just getting I guess
we're making up for it.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
But yeah, too much. I agree. It's been raining all week.
It's been also freezing up here all week. I don't
know if anybody's familiar with Northeast, I'm not bro It's April,
all right, it's springtime. Where is the warmth?
Speaker 2 (03:14):
All right?
Speaker 1 (03:14):
We had it like that not that long ago, and
there's like a little tease and now we had to
break out our winter coats again. What's going on?
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Bro?
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Not a fan, not a fan whatsoever. But let's talk
about some current day nonsense in the world of pro wrestling.
It's WrestleMania season. We're on the road to WrestleMania, did
you know.
Speaker 2 (03:33):
I mean, thanks for the reminder, because like we needed
every week.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
Yeah, honestly we do. Because it's really weird. It's really
weird that the WrestleMania, the road to WrestleMania, we're just
plodding along on this but it feels like it's still
lacking a lot of juice. And I felt like we
were in a position I thought we were when John
Cena turned to heel, It's like, Okay, here we go.
It's time to turn up through he and they haven't
(04:01):
really done that. They went on a European tour, which
I don't know that the crowds were cool, but like
just the energy in the show just wasn't there for
a lot of shows, even with John Sena cutting your promos,
you know.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
We still don't have a real I wasn't a huge
fan of them either.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
The same so they were they were good, but they
I don't know it left they left something to be desired.
But he's not around right now. We don't know when
he's gonna come back. We got Paul Hammon at the
center of a storyline. Uh, everybody's fighting over Paul Hammon,
right the Paul the Wise Man is mine. That's the
song that that should be the theme.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Song going at should be like, you know what, the
scene of things not hitting so that let people start
fighting over me.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Or at the end of all of this, he just goes.
He just goes. I'm done with all of y'all, each
and everyone on of y'all. But we also got Bianca
Butlair being booed for telling the truth. Come on, guys,
we got to do better. Fickle fans. What are y'all
booing her for? I don't even know. It feels like
coded racism, but I'm sure people won't say that. I'm
(05:16):
sure people won't say, like, no, I'm not booming because
of that. But maybe you don't realize that. Maybe it's
unconscious because there's no reason to boot Bianca Plaire, there's
reason to cheer re ripley. Why do you boo? Why
do you boo her? Because she's telling you.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
Is the winer in this city.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
Yeah, she wind her way into it and powdered her
way into the title match. But you know people still
still like her, no, no letting them wrong, was still
liking her. I just don't understand why they boot Bianca, Butlaire.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
And we had it set up right like you kind
of laid it out perfectly, even before the Roar of
Rumble where Ria Ripley and versus Bianca Belair is the
money match that they have for the Women's division women's title,
and they just kind of they're holding off on that
for whatever reason, maybe Eo Sky, Like I'm a big
fan of her. It just feels like they're doing this
(06:07):
uh as like a oh you thought this was coming,
but it's just a weird thing that we didn't need.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
I guess, well it's I don't mind that it's happening, it's.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Just how they got there. And then just the you're
making Bianca look bad, You're making Ria look bad, and
Eo is still an afterthought as the champion.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
The story after thought.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
I mean, why are we making that a story? Why
couldn't it just be Ria and Bianca? Are they gonna
save it for Summer Slam? How you gonna pull that
off for another few months. So yeah, I don't know,
but that's gotta be a one to one Eventually, does
EO Sky retain, you know, like and then then have
Ria and Bianca without a title? You know, I don't know, maybe.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Maybe maybe one match that's definitely happening. I Wrestledmania is shift,
I said, shift? Uh tiff Tiffany Stratton versus Charlotte Flair,
who are in the midst of the messy storyline in
WW right now based on that segment they half in
last week, and yet despite that segment and everything else
is going on, still doesn't doesn't feel like there's a
(07:14):
lot of juice right now in WW. But that that
segment in particular, though, was chow messy that level of messy, man.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
That was a lot.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
That was a lot.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
I was, you know, not I was. I think it. Well,
it was Friday, so I'm watching the Phillies, I think
with the sound on, so I'm watching SmackDown on mute,
and obviously I see the promo happening. I was like, Okay,
like I'll I'll go back on DVR and listen to this.
I did the same thing a few years ago during
World the playoffs in the in the Fall when Sammy's
(07:46):
Ain had that promo with the club line and Jay
Usso and Roman Reigns, same thing happened for me, like
I had to go I was watching it on mute,
so I had to go back. I saw like Jay
and Roman kind of laughing, and I was like, Oh,
they're they're probably not last thing like their faith think
it's funny. They're probably it's probably like a character type
laugh like oh yeah, like whatever. I wish I watched
(08:10):
it live obviously after the fact, and I wish I
watched that Charlotte Flair Tiffany Stratten from a lie because
I probably would have been like.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Oh, I was watching it live, and I was just like,
did she did she really say that? Characters in her dms?
That felt like the one thing, I mean, the whole
three and oh on three line I should say it
was was like that was stiff from tiff But it's
at least something that like Charlotte has talked about publicly.
She just talked about it in an interview, so I
(08:38):
understand that that's a personal subject. Obviously.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
What did you hear that train? Oh, I did not
hear that you did I'm using my old mic again,
so it's not picking up some of that stuff that
I heard.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
I heard nothing. They do one did, so I heard nothing.
But it's good to hear, O good not to hear,
I guess. But that line was stiff. But again, it's
a public thing that Charlotte's talked about. But you know,
maybe Charlotte felt the type of way. She definitely felt
some type of way about the fans and booing her
and stuff like that, which it seemed like it was
(09:09):
clear to me that did it bothered her. But the
line at the end was like whoa, and Tilly didn't respond.
I don't know what happened backstage. I'd imagine little Big
Kaiser sitting at home like, yo, come on, bro, what AYO?
Don't do this to me.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
But he's probably like, oh, I gotta get involved in
the WrestleMania.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Now, yeah, that's not the way he wanted it to happen.
I can assure you that. I mean, at least, if
you're like you want a peaceful home, this is not
the way, all right, this is not the way to
do it. But I mean, check is a check too.
At the same time, I do understand that, but but yeah,
lots of mess, but like just not just the juice.
(09:48):
You forget that, like we're two weeks away from the show,
Like I think part of it for me, and I
think I've said this the whole time, but the fact
that WrestleMania is pretty much two weeks later than usual,
I think really messed up this build. You got. We
were looking at stuff from this past weekend, like this week.
I just said earlier this week that WrestleMania forty took
(10:11):
place a year ago, one year ago, Cody went a title,
and it's like, yeah, WrestleMania is usually now, and man,
I wish WrestleMania is happening about like now or maybe
this weekend, because I like, how much more can they
do in this next two weeks or so to make
me go, yeah, it's WrestleMania, baby. I'm sure by the
time that we can rolls around, I'll be excited, but
(10:31):
obviously less excited because it's not here in Philly like
it was last year. And I'm sure that added to
our all of our collective excitement. But it was something
different about last year too. It wasn't just the fact
that it was in Philly and it was in our backyard.
It was all the further around it with that's just
not there this year, and it's in a much more
touristy city than in Las Vegas, and that you know,
(10:54):
that vibe is there to make this a marquee event,
but it's just really just not there right now. I
don't I don't. I don't get why. It feels like
all the pieces are there, it's just not just not clicking.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
Yeah, I'm I feel the same way. I mean like
I'm just kind of waiting for it, you know. At
this point, the last real interesting thing was the Senor
Hill turn, and then we were kind of wondering how
their European tour will go. And I think a lot
of people are like, Okay, I hope they don't do
that again, you know, or at least if they do that,
they do it during another part of the year where
(11:29):
it's not WrestleMania season to do all that, because uh,
it just didn't do much. It didn't do much in terms,
not to.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
The level that I think they thought it would right
the crowd.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
But I remember us being like, oh, like that that
might be cool. Yeah, it kind of wasn't. But I
guess they wouldn't know unless they did it. So maybe
next year they'll have a different plan.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
Maybe Yeah, yeah, yeah, like that's and that's not like
a terrible thing to experiment here and there. You know,
try some things, and why not try. You're gonna make
money either here or domestic. You're probably gonna make more
money domestically, not domestically overseas, even though it probably cost
you more to run shows over there because you got
to get everybody overseas. But like they sell out those shows,
(12:12):
the crowds are always enthusiastic, but uh yeah, those shows
are largely forgettable also, which is kind of wild outside
of the crowd reactions. They were saying people's names and
stuff like that. But but yeah, that speaking of uns
satisfied fans, because you know there's some out there, I
think ourselves, Nick and I included, who aren't necessarily super
(12:34):
satisfied with the road to WrestleMania. Have you had any
roadblocks on the road to WrestleMania?
Speaker 2 (12:41):
I don't know, unfortunately, not, Like maybe we.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Should have some roadblocks, and have we had it? We
haven't had a fast lane neither.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
The slow ass lane out of here.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Yeah, this is the take your time lane. This is
the bike lane. Brother, this the crew cruise control.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
This is going fifty five miles an hour in the
left lane on the highway.
Speaker 1 (13:07):
Ooh, don't do that. You got to at least pushing
seventy here in fifty five. But I don't know anything
about that. What am I talking about? But yeah, it's
just the juices, isn't there? Man, It's just not there.
But uh, if you're unsatisfied with that, we maybe you
(13:27):
can watch a w oh no oh man.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Yeah, I just see a Philly Maybe we would. It
won up WrestleMania forty a.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
Year almost to the day after we had we know
what it was. It was April six right, Night one
of WrestleMania was April sixth of last year, twenty twenty four,
so a year to the day that we had Night
one of Wresselemania. We had Dynasty from aw and Philly
at the Leacor Center last Sunday night into Sunday morning.
Because ae W shows are too they have long, point
(14:02):
blank okay, And that's that's already a rough thing for
the shows, right, it's a rough us. That's a negative
against the shows that they're too long. If you count
the pre shows, we're talking about like five hours of wrestling.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
No, no, he said the same thing when WrestleMania even
was pushing five hours and then they went over five hours.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
And we were younger. We were far younger back then.
That was like six That was like six years ago.
Now yep, we're barely in our thirties at that point,
still going like, yo, keep these shows shorter. Please on
a Sunday night, bro come on and here comes AW
even after w W has said, you know, were pushing
our shows to Saturdays. Hell, we're on our shows overseas
(14:50):
and start them at three pm Eastern Time in the
United States. Fantastic, which I did like the fact that
I ra AW SmackDown started at three pm live, especially
raw because you can watch it live on Netflix. But
Saturday shows, if you want to run a little you
know late, Okay, Sunday is out and even Saturday, you
(15:13):
can't go past midnight. You can't have your main event
start at like eleven fifty's That was wild too, come on,
so you have it be super long and then we
wait all night.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Thinking, by the way, we're gonna get our happy ending.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
Well, you gotta wait till all in for that.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Pal in Texas.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Come on, all in Texas, partner, come on now Live Stadium.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
The Eagles won the Super Bowls. So you guys aren't
getting it right.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
He's still mad about He's still mad about the Daguars
at the link exactly that we're living for living history. Sakwon.
Barclu's hurdle happened against Tony CON's team, the Jaguars, while
the Eagles were in Kelly Green. I remember that game. Uh,
but instead of giving the happy ending in Philly, it'll
(16:09):
probably happen in Texas. But wait all night for this
match and for this climactic ending, and then after midnight.
We waited till after midnight on Monday morning to see.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
One of the Anniversary of WrestleMania night too.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
That's true. They wanted to cover all their bases. But
after all of that, we got the Young Bucks. The
Young Bucks.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
Yeah, when when the lights went out, I was like,
here here we go. And I could have bought any
other person coming out, and the fact that it was
the Young Bucks. I was totally tuned out.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
The Young Bucks. Crazy bro for what with Ricky Waters
say for who? For what? Exactly? What have what has
the Young Bucks done to help aw from a business standpoint,
and last year or two, remember they turned heel like
(17:14):
this time last year with Jack Perry and Okada. What
did it do? Nothing? They played the footage of Jack
Perry getting beat up for nothing.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
They went away.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
Then they went away for nothing.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Well they caps well, but.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
Really for nothing. I mean, I'm sorry about your happiness.
I'm not saying that your happiness doesn't matter. It means
something to me and a lot of people. For them,
they don't care for nothing. And then they come back
for what for nothing? What are they gonna do? Anarchy?
And the arena seen that already with them specifically, they're
(17:52):
gonna do blood and guts. Seen them in that two match,
seen them in that too against who everybody? Who do
you gonna go against a her syndic kid? Could you
imagine Bobby Lashley against either one of the young Bucks
hell Shelton Benjamin, who's smaller than Bobby Lashley probably towers
(18:16):
over the young Bucks.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
And I'm not saying that on the top of each other.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
You gotta like you gotta like be like a big
dude or whatever to like be a good wrestler. Obviously
that's not the case. Look at the Young Bucks, Like,
the Young Bucks aren't the biggest dudes in the world,
and they're super popular and they're super talented, but man,
they're not a needle mover anymore. I'm sorry, bro, not
for aw it's not happening. And then do what they
don't do anything that different. Then they come out on
(18:42):
Wednesday looking like they were dressing up like adults, like
they were playing dress up on They looked ridiculous, Bro,
They're like they were high fashion in like two thousand
and nine. And it's just so jarring because I'm not
used to seeing it anymore. You look at other you
look at a w you look at even WWE, and
(19:02):
you see like, oh, everybody looks kind of like how
they should look, I guess, and normal. And then the
Young Books come out looking kind of goofy, and it's like,
all right, y'all, y'all wold And then they cut the
poopy promo Kenny Omega, who look, you know, we're fans
of Kenny Omega fans and the Young Bucks too, But
Kenny Omega is talking about talking about dogs pooping on
the floor. And it went for a while, it went
too long, Okay, he didn't even say poop. He said dookie, okay,
(19:27):
And I immediately thought about yes too, doucky chance, good job, Baltimore,
but immediately reminded me of no holds barred obviously, you
know what's that smell? What's that smell?
Speaker 2 (19:46):
But he's like he's in intently smelling like he wants.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
To yes, yes, hard sniffs. I know you can hear
that through the mic. Hogan always makes that sound too,
when he's like turning the shirt. He's he still does
that like in those real American beer commercials. I see
sometimes what is he doing in those commercials? But and Homeboy,
(20:12):
of course goes douky and it's hilarious, Like it's the
funniest part of the whole movie. The whole movie stinks
outside of that one scene. No pun intended. Okay, So
we got that, and it's like, where are we going
with any of this? What are the young bucks here
for to go against Kenny Omegan Adam Page now, because
that's what's gonna happen and get Swerve and all that.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
So it's to me, it's a carbon copy of when
CM punk, Like everyone wanted Daniel Brian to win the
World Heavyweight title Events, was like, hah, not, no, this
is before he won it the first time in wrestling
A thirty. So what do they do? They pivot? They
put Sampunk and Daniel Brian together to go against the
Wyatt family, and it was like, okay, like that could
(20:55):
be good, but we don't want this, like nobody asks
for it. We want Daniel Ryan as the world heavyweight
champion and seam Pump doesn't deserve to be in there,
like he should be at the top two. This is
before he walked out the twenty fourteen Rumbles. So this
reminded me exactly of that situation. It's like everyone's ready
for Swerve to win again. Yes it's not his first time,
(21:16):
but we're ready to put the Death Riders bs behind us.
Uh not yet. Now we got to deal with this.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
Yeah, that's that's the crazy thing too. They're going with
this probably to all in. No, and there's no evidence
that says like the Death Riders' angle is really working
on any level.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Like and there's no evidence saying that they're going to pivot,
which is even more annoying.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
No, I mean, at this point, you're in you're all
in no pun intended like what else is left before
all in? I don't know when Forbidden Door is. I
think that's the like the August show now, right, so
all in this July they got double of Nothing and
they got.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
Something that they change it. I don't it.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
But Double of Nothing is is a show that they
could easily do an anarchy and the arena in so
there's you know, I think they've had anarchy arena traditionally
at double or nothing, I believe, right like, I believe
that's kind of where they've done it in the past.
But there isn't a whole lot left you got, you know,
I'm looking on let me see here what they got
(22:17):
for twenty twenty five. Uh yeah, double of Nothing and
then all in in July, so and nothing in June
right now, and Forbidden Door is in August, and they
don't have all out this year. It looks like it's
just smart. But yeah, what else they gonna do? Double
on Nothing is not gonna be I don't I don't
see that being a title defense. I've seen that for Max.
I see that being like an anarchy in the arena
(22:38):
or something like that in my eyes. But maybe I'm wrong,
But it's just it's none of it's going anywhere. That's
the biggest problem. And they got people who are people
that fans are invested in. People are invested in Osprey,
who I assume is going to win the Owen Hard
Tournament and go to all In and beat Moxley, which
makes sense, and I think that's the right decision. It's
(23:00):
just getting there. It's been rough, bro, it's rough getting there.
But I was ready for Adam Page to help Swerve
and then maybe you go to Swerve and and Adam
Page at all in Man. That would have been kind
of epic for the story and for the match itself.
There's a lot of history between those two guys, violent history.
(23:26):
I mean, Hangman burnt swerves house down, his childhood home
down in storyline.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
Of course, I'd say that original angle and the MJF
Adam Colstaff for the two top tier aw angles and
the last what since Seampunk.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Left, Yeah, since he left.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Those are the things that really leave the impression in
the audience, like, I just we don't have that right now.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
No. They tried to have a hostile takeover last year
and then it didn't work, so they did another group
of the host will take over the first group kind
of ran away. Then that now the new hostile takeover
is might join up with the old hostile takeover to
take over whom Actually, nobody's even in charge of this.
This matches just happened. They don't get announced by anybody.
(24:16):
It just they just happened. And then you get the
young bucks being the EVPs of the company, and then
the being heels. I think, like, why when are we
gonna get away from this heel or thirty figure thing?
Bro Ww's long passed it. Both of their heart their
general managers are essentially baby faces Adam Pierce or in
uh Nick Altis, I almost forgot his name. He might
(24:40):
not be a baby face for much longer if he
comes from Randy Orton. But that's a necessary that's you know,
that's a special set of circumstances when it comes to Nicolls,
because Kevin Owens is severely injuress and it has a
significant a neck injury, significant enough that he needs surgery.
So rest up or prayers up to Kevin Owens. That's
tough for WW to lose out on because he's a
(25:01):
he's been a guy David lied on a lot in
the last decade, pretty much on the main roster, so
tough to lose him, and tough with Kevin Owens specifically
to have to go through that and hope that he
can come back sooner rather than later, because you just
never know what's gonna happen with those situations. But my
point is that authority figures don't have to be bad guys.
(25:21):
I don't know how that helps the company unless your
name is Vince McMahon. That worked for him twenty years ago,
twenty five years ago. We're done with that. He was
the exception, not the rule. Every person that's been a
heel authority figure since sucked. He totally honest with you.
I saw it maybe Eric Bischoff and in WWE.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
Yeah, cause he did it first before Vince, and well
he did that was that was kind of good, But
Vince mastered it.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Vince was the best at it. I was saying, since Vince.
Speaker 2 (25:49):
Yeah, yeah, that right. So you know you can't live
up to that, you know what. I So like, if
you're gonna be you gotta be a tweener at least,
like you can't be a heel athordy figure and think
anyone cares about.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
Well, just be the heels without having to be the
executive vice president. Just be heels for creative reasons. We
get creative. I'm not saying you can't be heels, but
don't flaunt the fact that your EVPs need just it's
just shy off.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
The GM whoever it is making the matches, buy them
off like that works.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
Why make the company a heel? It doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
And we haven't seen the world title on how long?
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Isn't a briefcase?
Speaker 2 (26:27):
And for what?
Speaker 1 (26:28):
Why? What do they do they? What's the points? That's
I think that's my biggest thing too. There's there's no point.
They look generic. They walk out there in white T
shirts playing T shirts, and I guess that's kind of
the point, but like, you just look like nerds, just
like guys.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
But I don't even like I still don't buy them
as a group. And they've been together since William regals
Blackpool Combat Club, Like y, I still don't buy them
as a group because I'm like, you have no they.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
Have no chemistry. You know, they have no chemistry, zero chemistry.
I think, Yeah, that's another thing. Yeah, they don't have
any chemistry none. So yeah, it's all bad. In that
main event scene to be totally honest with you, one
of those finishes that like, it wasn't like people were
booming because they were mad that Moxley won. It was like,
(27:15):
really that's how it felt. It was just like people
felt like people were kind of fed up.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
Well yeah after midnight, like you said, ye yeah, wait,
and it's like, like we didn't get rewarded tonight, Bro.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
You had me up all night waiting for that. Bro,
come on for the young By.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
They saw some great action for sure, but it's like
that's they thought that was the build up to the climax,
and the climax was actually something they saw an hour
or two before that.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
You just you can't waste people's time like that, Bro,
You can't afford to do it. People will watch WW,
they will give up on you. They don't have to
watch you, just like people gave up on WW when
it got real bad in like twenty eighteen twenty nineteen.
We're gonna talk about twenty eighteen a little bit later
on for NXT. People will just watching you, bro, And
people went away from WW for a little bit and
(28:03):
it came back eventually because it got good again. But
like they stop watching you, bro, because you just now
you're just making them upset. That's not good. It felt
like you can kill a town with that type of finish. Bro,
It's bad, It's real bad. I would like to see
what the crowd will be for their next time in
Philly and see and compare it to this past shit.
(28:26):
I know, I think I can't remember the exact numbers,
but I know they had a good crowd at the
Leada Corp Center. But I'll be interested to see that
number as compared to this, you know, next time around,
and who knows when that will be, we don't know yet.
But because a finish like that, man, that would make
me get go, Like if I spent my heart on
the money, and like, I'm not doing it again, Like
(28:47):
if you spend money on that pay per view a
lot of people did fifty bucks, I'd be mad. I'm mad.
I'm upset that I spend fifty dollars on that, So
I can only imagine how other people feel too. I
don't think I'm alone in that. So you got to
make people feel good about the purchases, man, and I
(29:07):
don't think Dynasty did a good job of that, at
least with the finish. And that's what people want to remember.
The most coming out of it is that is that ending,
despite the fact, like you said, the rest of the
show is you know, not bad. It was pretty good.
Like I liked Osprey's match with was it Mark Knight?
He kind of just got out there a little bit.
They did some good stuff. I liked a lot of
(29:31):
things on the show. I liked the tag team match,
but there's some matches his thing. I will say, there's
some matches that also didn't need to be on the show.
I would say Adam Cole and Daniel Garcia didn't need
to be on the show. You can. I like the
tag match, but that didn't the tag title match, but
that didn't need to be on the show honestly or
long right, And it's like that that also did that
(29:51):
need to be on the show. That could have been
on a ring Rondo pay per view.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
You have one of those that was eighteen minutes.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
By the way, come one bro.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Longer than quite a bit of the other.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
It doesn't make any sense.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
It doesn't make match.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
It doesn't make sense.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
Triple h aw Man.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
It doesn't make sense though, how why Jericho is the
oldest guy in match is over fifty and he could
still go. It would have got me be wrong, but
he shouldn't be. In the longest matches.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
That was the longest match. It was the ninth match,
and oh well, including the pre show up to that
point it became it was the longest match, and then
it was longer than Adam Adam Cole versus Daniel Garcia.
The only two matches that were went over Kenney Omegan, Ricochet,
Mike Bael.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
I forgot about that, my god.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
The main event that.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Triple threat Speedball, Keny Omegan and Ricochet was incredible, great match.
That's a match that should get eighteen minutes. That should
be the longest match in the show, not Jericho and Bandido.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
Thirty one minutes, and the main event was thirty one
minutes and thirty five seconds, so it.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
Also was also but also, let's let's be real, thirty
minutes for that triple threat is also two damn your
main event can go thirty. I give you that, that's
your main event. But the triple threat that wasn't was
that for a title that was for that was what
the international title. I'm sorry for the international title. Even
though it was a great match that don't need to
(31:14):
be thirty minutes for coming up on midnight.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
That's the Sandpunk real title, right. I guess when he
came back, he had that title. And so they had
like two world titles, and I'm assuming it got I
know they merge some of the titles into the international title.
I don't know that one was also merged. So it's
us still a thing that they're like WCW back in
(31:39):
the early nineties where they had the international title and
the world title.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
So I thought the international title was just like a
secondary title at this point, as far as I knew,
it wasn't a world title.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
So it it.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
Was uh, I thought that was that was the Atlantic Championship.
I mean, was the All Atlantics.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
It was merged, I believe. Oh, I don't know, but yeah,
I guess if they didn't emerge it then they would.
Speaker 1 (32:04):
Okay, yeah, it was the All Atlantic, which is like,
what the hell does that mean? And now it's the
International which is also like what the hell does that mean?
And compared to the world title, what's different? But whatever.
But also again, it doesn't need to be thirty minutes. Bro,
that's that's man. That's a killer. And then you know,
if you're at home that's one thing you can just
you know, track yourself to bed real quick after the show.
(32:26):
But if you're at the show and you're in Philadelphia
and you probably took public transit to the show, leaving
the show after midnight sucks because I don't know if
anybody knows, but in Philly, the train stopped running. The
subway stops running after midnight at least underground and Lea
Course Center is a block away from a subway station.
It's called Ceco B. Moore so on the campus of
(32:47):
Temple University. Shout out to my homies that go to
Temple or graduated from Temple. But it's a block away
from the arena. It's the easiest way to get to
the lea Coorse Center. Driving around there isn't great. It's
not like a ton of parking that I can tell
around there. And it's right smack on Broad Street. We're
talking North Broad now, we're not talking South Broad where
the Eagle Stadium is in the Phillies Citizens Bank Parkling,
(33:08):
the Financial Field, the Wells Fargo Center is. That's South Philly.
That's you know, we're talking to North Philly, North Broad
Lear Course Center, smack on on the middle of broad
Street is that is the arena. So you know, taking
public transit is a way that people a lot of
times in this city and in this area is a
way that people get to games and sporting events, including
(33:30):
the Eagles and the Phillies and the Flyers and the
Sixers and whoever else. And if you have an event
ending after midnight, that means those trains underground aren't running,
so you have to take a bus home. And trust me,
having been worked over night in this town for a
while there a while back, you don't want to be
on that bus. Okay, it's not a pleasant place to be.
(33:52):
Uh So, yeah, that sucks, man. You got to coordinate
that because you know, after Eagles games, Eagles games don't
end past midnight, number one. But even if they go
pretty late Sunday night game, they aren't talks with sept
except to make sure that people get their rides, and
the stations say it's open yah da dada at least
till the big crowd's clear and they shut down. But
(34:14):
you can't go past midnight and pretty much any city, bro,
But they do it all the time, and I wouldn't wonder.
I'm curious to know how some people got home after that.
What was your journey home like after that show? Was
it made more difficult by the fact that it ended
well past midnight? And I can tell you, for me,
(34:35):
it would have been an issue. I would have been upset.
I wasn't not the show, but I would have been
upset because I take cepting, so my primary mode would
have been the subway at least there. And then now
I'm looking up uber prices after and then you know,
the Muebird's gonna go sky high after a sporting event.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
So thanks this wild Wild We're still twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
It's still happening, still happening on Sunday nights. Yeah, not
even Saturdays, which I would say I think. I think
the trains do have Friday night and Saturday night services
after midnight. I think now, granted I'm not out super
late on Saturday and Friday Saturday nights, definitely not on sethter,
but I think they might. I know they have had
(35:22):
that in the past, but I know on a Sunday
night there's no way, no way. So yeah, it's just
crazy stuff going on. But enough of that current day nonsense.
Are you ready to dive deep? Into NXT Takeover New
Orleans from twenty eighteen. That's rock, Let's do it. NXT
(35:44):
Takeover New Orleans took place on April seventh to twenty eighteen.
The show emanated from the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Surprisingly,
the arena is still named the same. It's still the
Smoothie King Center down there in New Orleans, Louisiana, home
of course, to the New Orleans Pelicans of the NBA,
and has home been home to a w W Hall
(36:06):
of Fame ceremony once or twice. Back in the day,
I was just New Orleans for the Super Bowl?
Speaker 2 (36:12):
Did we win that Super Bowl?
Speaker 1 (36:16):
The Eagles? One? Yeah, I can't say we. I don't
work for them anymore. You can say we, but I
don't work for them anymore. And you ask me in
twenty eighteen, I'm like, hell, yeah, we won.
Speaker 2 (36:27):
We won. Now you're saying we were two time champions.
Speaker 1 (36:31):
That's true. It happened once in twenty eighteen. Wait, we
did it, and in twenty twenty five they did it.
This time it was them different pronouns, even though some
people don't like pronounces for some reason.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
But this NX takeover. It was just a little bit
after our first Eagles parade, how about that?
Speaker 1 (36:49):
That is true about about the two months after, right,
I think two months after that. Yeah, people in Philly,
just like right now, are still very much in the
after glow of a Super Bowl title. It is the
number one one source of happiness here in Philadelphia for sure.
I feel like you can ask anybody in the city
right now, Hey, how about those how about those eagles?
Go birds? Like hell, yes, and they could be like,
(37:10):
you know, all kinds of situations. They don't know what
that going on in their life, but they will light
up and talk about the birds right now.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
Aw shows super Bowl highlights. Everything's fine. They showed it
like an arena going past midnight, right But.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
They wouldn't do that because Tony Conn and those Jaguars
man And it was funny. I was thinking, like Ricochet
might wear eagle stuff, but then exactly, and he's a bit,
he's a heel. So you can't wear eagle stuff in
this town and think you're gonna get booed. It is
not gonna happen. Bro, I'm sorry. Like my daughter had
All City concert, you know, All City Philly, and uh,
(37:45):
very you know, Fristitious honored for her and she had Yeah, yeah,
she's at the Kimel Center playing and stuff like that.
And they ended with it's like, oh, you might know
this song. You might like it everybody. You know, I
knew exactly what it was because I've been to enough
Eagles events, you know, having worked for the team. You know, like,
if somebody you're gonna like this one, it's a special surprise.
It's a song that everybody knows. It's like it's it's
(38:07):
flight goes Fly, They're going to be flygs fly every time.
And lo and behold, somebody came out with a Brandon
Graham jersey and said fly egos and did the song
and stuff like that. It was not Brandon Gham. Someone
into Brandon Graham jersey, but shout out to Brandon Graham.
He retired recently. How about how about Brandon Graham? Nice
guy at Brandon Graham.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
But two times super Bowl champion two times.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
But back in twenty eighteen, he's only a one time
super Bowl champion. Uh and yeah two times he's got
a second one of New Orleans. We're in New Orleans,
great town. You know how much I love the city.
But back in twenty eighteen, Brandon Graham and Philadelphia Eagles
only one time Super Bowl champions. But where are we
in wrestling in twenty eighteen? I put in my notes
(38:50):
in Hell.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
That's putting it. You were very very nice about that.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
That's nice.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
Doesn't get no lower.
Speaker 1 (39:03):
We are in hell creatively when it comes of Hell,
I mean the seventh circle. Okay, at least when it
came to WWE's main product, Okay, which at this point
looks terrible compared to even today. You think today's product
has got that great. Let's go back seven years to
(39:26):
twenty eighteen, when we were barreling down the road to
WrestleMania that featured brock Lessner versus Roman Reigns as the
main event. You might think, oh, if you forget, if
you weren't watching back then, It's like, that doesn't sound horrible,
you know, that doesn't sound tough. You gotta remember this
is twenty eighteen, not twenty twenty five, which feels like
a lifetime ago when you're talking about Roman.
Speaker 2 (39:47):
Reigns, and not twenty twenty two.
Speaker 1 (39:51):
Not even twenty twenty two. He was barely the tribal
chief in twenty twenty two. In twenty eighteen, he's still
the big dog.
Speaker 2 (40:00):
Woof, woof.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
He wasn't even barking. I shouldn't even bark. What'd I say?
He should have been barking. If he was.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
Barking, they might have cheered for him like they do, right,
barn breaker, all right, every time he come out, everybody's barking.
They park over seas, they park, Yeah, they bark anywhere.
It's so simple. How can you call this man the
big dog and not have him bark?
Speaker 2 (40:25):
That happens. I have a dog in his entrance video, right.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
That's it. That's it. He never wore a collar or nothing,
did nothing, come on. But because of that, he still
wasn't over with the fans yet. Still we're three years
into this, three years and it's crazy to think now
because the people love Roman reigns now right, every time
(40:51):
it comes out, people go crazy, even though he's still
a heel pretty much like still very very arrogant in
his demeanor. All right, Like when you talk, Paul Hammon,
tell this fool that you're not gonna go with him.
Come on now, Paul Hamon needs me. I'm the trouble chief.
I saved him. I made him relevant that. So those
are a villainous things to say, and people still like
(41:14):
Roman rains. But Roman Reigns could have came to Philadelphia
and said go birds and people would have said boom.
Speaker 2 (41:23):
Yeah twenty eighteen especially, who the hell is that? There
are champions, not your champion, Get right, get out of here.
Speaker 1 (41:32):
We're the underdogs, not the big dogs. Wrong dog. So yeah,
twenty eighteen terrible time because we're getting a main event
that no one wanted. We didn't want it in twenty fifteen,
we didn't really want it. In twenty twenty eighteen, we
(41:54):
didn't want it to get in twenty twenty two. Back
this crazy being three times and neither one of them,
not one of them did we want. I will say
though the first match wasn't that bad, the third match
wasn't It was not great neither, but at least Roman
Reigns was cool. This match, though, is the worst of
both worlds. We don't have a cool Roman Reigns and
(42:17):
the Man's and the match eventually stunk.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
And this is when Russmannia was one night. So we
had a deal with it. We couldn't like turn the page,
we couldn't have something that was you know, a bigger
card to say, you know nothing, We didn't have a
w Nope, what do we have?
Speaker 1 (42:38):
We had NXT. That was our saving grace and Ring
of Honor, Ringo Vanny was still popping at that point.
New Japan was doing some things, but really state side,
and you know, on a large level, on the high level,
it was NXT.
Speaker 2 (42:51):
And we have the w W network which made it
easier to consume n XT, and that was our again
you said it saving grace.
Speaker 1 (42:58):
Yeah, because the main problem that was just full of apathy.
It was the most one of the most apathetic times
in recent wrestling history that I can remember, because man
I only disliked the product. They just started to simply
not care yep, Like the apathy was just a parent
And even that WrestleMania, it was there where Brock Lesner
and Romanmines wrestled to bruze and or silence either one
(43:20):
no cheers.
Speaker 2 (43:21):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (43:22):
Probably the least memorable main event that I could think
of is WrestleMania thirty four between Brock and Roman. I'm
trying to think of a less memorable main event, even
if it's bad.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
It's like I remember that where Brock plusted Roman up
or was that SummerSlam.
Speaker 1 (43:36):
Uh he was bleeding. I believe in that one, I think,
and he's like beat Brock, he beat he beat Roman.
Roman didn't win until Summer.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
Slide, right, So I'm thinking that was like maybe the
only moment or in one of their matches where I
was like, oh wow, like that would interest somebody because
Roman was bleeding like profusely. I didn't. It's been forever
since I watched WRESTLT in thirty four, so I don't remember.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
You know, why why would you why would you go back?
Speaker 2 (44:03):
And you know, during this NXT takeover, I remember they
showed promo for Sink versus AJ and we're like, oh,
like this will be really good. Even that was not hype.
So oh yeah, it was like even our saving grace
on the main roster was not a saving grace NOE.
Speaker 1 (44:21):
But we had NXT, which was on a heater in
twenty eighteen. A heater, folks. Amazing, incredible, It's in the
middle of arguably its hottest feud until this day. Arguably
the hottest food NXC has ever had is Johnny Gargano
versus to Massel Champa.
Speaker 2 (44:40):
Incredible as old school as old school can get.
Speaker 1 (44:44):
And then underneath that was just so much depth everywhere
you looked. Undisputed era, yeah three soon to before. Members
of that ricochet just popped up recently. Alista black Is
around Ember Moon was rising you know, no pun intended,
uh and the Moon Rising she was only assent. SHANEA.
(45:06):
Basler Andrade Hell. They had Kyrie Saying on the pre show,
and yes, even velveteen Dream, who at this time was
seen as honestly one of the probably the next big
thing in WWE, provided that Vince McMahon didn't mess it
all up. You know, we could never rule that out.
But what do these things have in common? They were
(45:28):
all quickly squandered once they were called it to the
main roster, or in some cases they never even made it.
In case of like velveteen Dream, he never even made
it to the main roster. But or like was Undisputed
error on the main roster, I don't think they were.
They had their little time like with the Survivor series stuff,
but they didn't They were never full time in the
main roster.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
They didn't like get drafted somewhere no Florida or anything
like that, not at all.
Speaker 1 (45:53):
So yeah, rough times after this, But at this point.
At this point, they're all in n XT and in
it and it's probably nxc's deepest roster to date even still,
Like I know, they have some good talent down there
now and they've had some good times, you know, recently,
But this roster in twenty eighteen into twenty nineteen, who
all like young ish talent, I should say, and in
(46:16):
the case of like velveteen Dreams, super young like twenty
two or at least fresh faces that hadn't been on
like they're not Samoa Joe and Robert Rude and Shinske,
who are guys who are on TV elsewhere, big stars elsewhere,
and they are kind of not only household names, but
they were guys like they were on like Shamo Joe.
Samo Joe and Robert Rude was on TV for a
decade before they got to NXT, and shinsk Is obviously
(46:38):
wrestling for a long time in Japan before he came
to the States. But these guys. Ricochet was in Japan
for a while, but he wasn't as big as star
as Nakamoor. Undisputed Era had did their thing in the
United States and Japan, but again not on a high level.
Alista Black was mostly an independent talent before he got
to WWE. Same for Mba Moon. She ain't a Beazler,
was an MMA fighter, so she's probably, if anything, the
(47:00):
biggest name among the crop because she was in MMA.
Androde was a huge star in Mexico, so can't take
that away from Andrada. He was a big star. Kyris
Sane was in you know, Japan, but as well in
Japan was a big star there. But a lot of
people who hadn't been on this biggest high of a level.
To this point, we're making their way in NXT and
(47:21):
really and they had more coming. It's not Butlira isn't
far behind the street. Profits are about to debut in
a little bit. Uh, if they haven't already, I think
they had already debuted by this point.
Speaker 2 (47:32):
They lost the authors of pain I believe in that
Dusty Roads to.
Speaker 1 (47:37):
Tag Team classic, right, you also got rear Ripley is
on our way, So they got talent in the pipeline
as ready to do.
Speaker 2 (47:45):
Not even t UK's you know insurgents or right, that's
the right.
Speaker 1 (47:53):
Word, but their introduction so to speak, right, obviously.
Speaker 2 (47:58):
They had a lot of talent that would eventually come over.
Speaker 1 (48:01):
Yeah, so it was. It was a great time. It
was argile be the peak of NXT. I would say,
is that twenty seventeen eighteen, maybe early nineteen era, because
obviously when AW started things started changing.
Speaker 2 (48:13):
I don't know, I don't know. I think they were
still at their peak even when they went the two
hours for a little bit. Eventually it just NXC. You
had better shows than Dynamite for a little bit. It
wasn't like some eighty eight week run or eighty three
week run or whatever.
Speaker 1 (48:31):
I mean, whatever it was, it was irrelevant. I don't
think it matters now. But I see what you're saying.
Speaker 2 (48:35):
Right, Like, still like they were really good shows. I
think people were just excited about AW in general, so
they were propping them up a little bit. They were
good though, Like AW was great, but n XD was
still hitting that. But the ratings just weren't there. And
I remember after a while you came on this podcast
and were like, I'm declaring the Wednesday night wore over,
(48:58):
and I was like, wait a second. I was like, no,
NXT is still doing good and that, but.
Speaker 1 (49:03):
It didn't matter, right, It didn't matter because AW was
a new hot thing. They had the biggers names they had.
It was a main roster show, so to speak. They
were in bigger arenas. Remember NXT was not touring and
still not touring, but they weren't touring for television. AW
was it was a new hot thing. They had some
big names, and people jumped on that bandwagon because WW
(49:24):
was not.
Speaker 2 (49:25):
Delivering for good reasons.
Speaker 1 (49:27):
So you know, it was like we're rooting for AW.
We talked about it. Then it's like we're rooting for
people are gonna be rooting for a W. They're gonna
they're gonna have a lot of good will and they're gonna,
you know, let's see how they use it and then
let's see how they capitalized on that. Maybe two or
three years down the line and they got se them
Punkin in the building eventually Brian Danielson as well, and
some other names, and then they squaddered. Now that good
(49:49):
will is mostly gone is different Now NXT is basically
on the same level again as Dynamite as far as
like television shows and television audiences where you know, I
declared it over back and whatever it was twenty nineteen,
twenty twenty, it's over, but it's still it's for the
other side, so necess how it is. But I think
(50:11):
I still think this was about the peak time for me.
I think this is the best roster they had at
this point as far as depth, versatility, and you can
see the trajectory of certain people that's like, oh, they
could they could be stars in two or three four
years if Vince don't mess it up. Because I was
always the specter over everybody.
Speaker 2 (50:27):
That was always the you know the footnote, right, the caveats, yes,
you know, like, damn it, that's two times.
Speaker 1 (50:36):
That's I got you, I got you. Maybe I got you,
but yeah, that was always a caveat. It is like,
if Vince does it right, they could be big. And
he didn't do it right with so many uh so
many of these people.
Speaker 2 (50:50):
But I even set back he did, he did, he
really did.
Speaker 1 (50:56):
He set it back. And now they've they've the way
they're doing it now. They they got multiple I guess
pipelines of source where they try to recruit their independence
with the ID program and they recruit just raw athletes
from college, young athletes from college do the NIL program
and it's been working out. They mean, look at the
talent they've produced. They're all pretty athletic, and they're pretty.
(51:18):
They look good. They look like stars, look like athletes,
and you know, you can say, oh, what are they
the best workers or not, like you know, there's sure
there's better workers out there, but like you know, they
they're they're doing a good job at least, they're developing
talent at they're trying, they're investing in it at least.
Speaker 2 (51:38):
And it's an area where they can see it every day.
You know. It's not like they have to wait or
go overseas to you know, plan trips to do all this.
They have it right at.
Speaker 1 (51:47):
Their disposal right, which I'm sure they really like. But
that's not to say though that n X all the
NXT call ups today are working out tremendously. That's not
the case. I mean, you look at Carmelo Hayes, like
what the hell I for? Like it was obvious with
him this it should be. It shouldn't be a departure
from like NXT vision to WW vision like it was
back in the day where Trip Bleas had his vision
(52:08):
events had a totally different one. You would think Seawann
Michaels and Triple A sh would be more on the
same page. But sometimes there seems to be a disconnect, okay,
because you can't push Carmelo Hayes that hard and then
gets to the main roster and all of a sudden,
it's like, what do we do with him lose? Let's
have him lose. So this person's having lose to that person.
So it's weird how that works out. It shouldn't. It
(52:29):
should not be that way, in my opinion. But NXD,
at this time, everything's working out. It's working out great.
But I know where I was when I watched the
show in twenty eighteen. I was at the good Brother
Tommy Rowan's house, having a great time, hanging out watching
the NXT takeover New Orleans. We're gonna do it again
for WrestleMania this year. It's gonna be a good time.
We have a big party, all right, But Nick, where
(52:51):
were you at this time in twenty eighteen. I was
still I was still in the actor lilt of a
Super Bowl myself. I was gonna tell you that right now.
Speaker 2 (52:59):
I don't remember. I might have been home, possibly somewhere
in Jersey. I'm not exactly sure where or when I
watched this, or if I watched it live, or if
I watched it. I did probably watch it live because
I definitely made sure the takeovers were, you know, appointment
viewing for me in my schedules. So but yeah, I
(53:22):
just I remember watching it live. I just don't remember
where I was.
Speaker 1 (53:28):
That's fair, that's fair. Well, let's check out somebody.
Speaker 2 (53:30):
Who I can remember nineteen ninety one pretty easily.
Speaker 1 (53:33):
It'd be like that sometimes, man, it'd be like that.
But let's check on somebody else who watched the show
back in twenty eighteen. I'm sure watched it recently. The
good brother Chris Johnson, who was our pittron for this
particular show. He will make his cameo now. Little running
from Chris Johnson talking with his thoughts about NX takeover
New Orleans. Take it away, Chris, what's going on?
Speaker 4 (53:57):
Straight Shooters's just Chris Johnson back and get giving me
my thoughts, deep dive for enness he take over New Orleans,
giving my match of the night, worst match of the night,
Hitting Hitting Gym's best non wrestling happening matches the night
for me, Cutt and Drive. In my opinion, it's the
ladder match that kicked off the show for the North
American title we had an easy three large Sullivan Killian Dane, Velveteen,
dream Ricochet and Adam Cole. Ricochet was fantastic in this match.
(54:19):
The springboard shooting stars press that he had on the
hit on Sullivan and Dane early on was crazy. Velveteen's
dreams gear was fire. I thought, I thought, I really
enjoyed his gear in this match. The power bomb to
Larter Sullivan off the ladder took four or five. Look
took like four guys to get him off the ladder.
A lot of car crash spots, a lot of high
spots in this match. Adam Cole superkicking Ricochett of midair
(54:41):
is a spot that stuck out to me watching this back.
Adam Cole winning the North American title, pushing Ricochet off
the top of the ladder after he had his hands
on the belt. Fantastic open, A great match, one of
the best ladder matches in the history of NXT. That's
my match of the night. I have an honorable mention
for match of the night, which is the not which
is the unsanctioned match between Johnny Gargano and Tomaso Champa.
(55:04):
Fast and furious from the get go, Champa coming out
with no music with his new he'l persona in his
first match backs since tearing his ACL in sh at
Takeover Chicago one roughly a year before. A couple big
spots in this match were Champa Suplex and Gargana off
the announced table to the floor, Gargano power bombing Champa
onto the concrete project, Champa hitting Project Champ onto Gargano
(55:24):
from the top row getting a two count, Gargano eventually
getting to win stf on the Champa on the injured
on the surgically repaired leg with getting leverage from the
knee brace. Very very good match, very physical, very grueling match.
My worst match of the night in my opinion, even
though it was no fault of their own, was inmber
Moon and Shane and Basler for the NXT Women's title.
I thought it was a solid match. Nothing bad really
(55:44):
happened in the match. The crowd was dead pretty much
throughout the whole match, so wasn't really great. My hidden
jim from this show is the NXT title match with
Andreddie and Alistair Black. These two competed it Takeover Orlando
the year before and Alista Black's first match in NXT,
which I was there for Wrestlmingia Weekend solid match. This
match definitely surpassed that by leaps and bounds.
Speaker 2 (56:05):
It's not even close.
Speaker 4 (56:06):
Zelena Vega's involvement in this match, hitting her krona on
Black a couple times. Andreidi hit a course group planche
onto Alistair Black to the outside and then landed on
his feet, which was crazy. The double stomp onto Alistair
Black with Androdi jumping off the turnbook off the top
rope was a great spot as well. Alistair Black won
the NXT title hitting andrete with Black mass as he
(56:28):
had Selena Vega in his arms after he caught her
off after she did across part off the top thought
it was a great match, one of the most underrated
XT title matches from a takeover in my opinion. The
best non wrestling happening for me, I guess was the
wrestlers and personalities at ringside. He had Ava in the crowd,
you had Shane McMahon in the front row, Ronda Rowsey
of course, Nita Strauss and Sasha Banks. They were all
(56:49):
ringside catching up the action and random thoughts from the show.
The triple threat match for the tag titles in the
Dusty Cup with Undisputed Era, Roder Strong, Pete Dunn aopt.
It was a pretty good tag team match. Roger Strong
turning on Pete Dunn and joining the Undisputed Era was
a great moment. Also, in my opinion, this is one
of the ten best takeovers of all time. Hands down,
(57:11):
very good card, top to bottom, good action, straight shooters. Appreciate,
appreciate you guys. Allow me to be back on the
greatest wrestling podcast out today. Keep it, hold it down, up,
and peel it. Hope you guys are doing well. Catch
on the flip side. Peace.
Speaker 1 (57:25):
Chris Johnson, thanks again, man for your patronage and thanks
for all the love and the well wishes. Hope everything
is good for you down in Florida. And I think
we're gonna agree with some things with Chris, We're gonna
disagree on one thing in particular, at least I will
disagree on one thing in particular. But I feel like
with a five match card, I think with five or
six matches, you're not gonna have a lot of variances
(57:46):
between the opinions. I don't think so, I feel like
we might all be on the same page with it.
This is like a longer show, more matches. Maybe it
could be some more variants, but I'm not going to
complain about a short show, especially after watching Dynasty this
past We can.
Speaker 2 (58:01):
Take money because this is the longest takeover I think
at least to date. And yeah, it was three like
three hours five minutes, and it didn't feel like it
at all.
Speaker 1 (58:09):
Right. Where I was looking on our peacock was where
I watched this. Uh, the other takeovers like two and
a half and this was three. I was like, what
come on? I was looking forward to that two and
a half baby, but no three hours. But like you said,
it went by pretty well. Uh and yeah, thanks again
to Chris Johnson. You can be just like him and
have a deep dive request fulfilled here on the Straight Shooters.
(58:31):
All you have to do is go to Patreon dot
com slash Shooters Radio, put in your request and we
shout fulfill it. It doesn't have to be a wrestling
pay per view like we have here to in this
episode with NXC takeover New Orleans. It could be a
wrestling related movie, TV show, et cetera. What have you
all you gotta do again Patreon dot com slash Shooters
(58:52):
Radio and be like Chris Johnson and you can join
us here on the Straight Shooters as well. Now we
got h we're gonna get to the show.
Speaker 2 (59:01):
I guess. Let's get to this show actually actually talk
about it.
Speaker 1 (59:04):
Yeah, let's actually do it. Let's talk about the fact
that the show starts with a rock music performance in
New Orleans, which I don't know if that really fits,
but so much heavy metal that WW doesn't use nearly
as much today, which is good bye me. However, I
(59:27):
will say there are a lot of conversations you see
on social about like the fact that WW doesn't push
a lot of black restless at the top of the card,
despite the fact that they use more black culture than
ever as far as the television product, specifically black men,
because obviously you got you know, you have your share
of black women near the top of the women's division,
(59:49):
but not all black men near the top of the card.
And that's not to say they don't have any again,
like you have like Bionca, Balia, Jade Naomi. Their examples
of the current stars, and they got they're developing some
too in the XT like over Femiri Williams, Shavon Evans,
even lash Legend. You know the examples of the people
that are actively developing. But I will say that there's
work to be done.
Speaker 2 (01:00:10):
For sure.
Speaker 1 (01:00:11):
Those conversations are with merit. They're not without merit. They
are with merit for sure. And it goes way beyond music.
It goes it's deeper than ratt to borrow a phrase,
but seriously, it's beyond music. But again, the rock music
that doesn't really fit New Orleans neither. As a person
who's been in New Orleans now I think five times,
I can tell you right now, you know, you don't
(01:00:33):
hear a lot of rock music. You hear a lot
of jazz. You hear a lot of a lot of
different stuff than a lot of great music. Honestly, people
can sang down there, some sangings down there in New Orleans.
I didn't really get that vibe from this performance here.
Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
No, it's going to take the same sound that's you
and next is used like especially in that era. Yeah,
like this is I've heard this before and it could
be a completely different band. It's like it sounds it's
sounds the same, you know, like give me something different.
Speaker 1 (01:01:03):
NXT was good for the like I wouldn't say underground,
but like kind of like I wanna say, niche, I
don't know how big these bands are, but bands I
don'm not familiar with, and that like that metal sound.
Speaker 2 (01:01:14):
Even even that night, I probably wasn't even a layer
that they were who they were.
Speaker 1 (01:01:19):
They were good for that. I will say that they
were definitely good for that. That rebellious sound, so to speak.
It's like you're very much the machine. W W. Somebody
need to tell y'all that you'll keep thinking y'all rebelling
against the cause. Y'all are the machine. Part of that
machine was the announcers on this night. We got mar Ronalo,
Percy Watson, and Nigel McGinnis on the call for this show.
(01:01:43):
And now let's get to our match of the night, Nick,
what was your match of the night from NXT Takeover
New Orleans.
Speaker 2 (01:01:52):
I relabeled this week's categories. This is my favorite match
of the night. And then I have, okay, a least
favorite match worse. I don't I don't think fits, but uh,
my favorite match of the night. Every match they've had,
I've I've loved Tomasso Champion versus Johnny Garganto unsanctioned match.
(01:02:14):
The honorable mention for Chris, I get it, but like
because the ladder match always you know, hits the spot.
But uh, Gargano and Champa is my favorite feud of
all time in NXT. Like they were just like incredible matches. Uh,
storylines were they made sense. You know. That's part of
the reason why it resonated with me because it was
(01:02:36):
the anti main rosterwe product. You know, it was like,
oh this stuff, like there's a story arc you follow
through the years.
Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
Yeah, you know, like how crazy is that?
Speaker 2 (01:02:48):
I know, like we hadn't seen that in decades, felt
like at least in w W. So Uh definitely loved
a lot of the spots here. I will say the
suplex off the annual table, I kind of like went, oh,
like you know, you know you didn't see anything like
that around this time, but like you also expected, okay,
(01:03:08):
like a soup plex through a table. I would see
that put off the table onto the mat. You're just
kind of like, oh, like that that kind of jarred
jarred me a little bit. Uh. Some Osca choppas stealing
crutches from somebody in the audience.
Speaker 1 (01:03:20):
They just usher him away, like sorry, kid, can't heavy
crutches back if he's going to limp around now stop
long hop along.
Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
That would be like my funniest moment. I guess the
night that was wild. I was like, okay, like hokey
for sure, but also kind of like a maybe chuckle,
And it didn't take away from the match, you know,
it did not take away from it.
Speaker 1 (01:03:44):
You can't have a crutch under the ring, so you
got to take it from somebody, right, because it wouldn't
make any sense to happen under the ring. I guess
it wouldn't make any sense to have a ladder under
their neither but or anything else.
Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
Yeah, the funnier part was like he just simply turned
turned around, like, okay, property, you don't even need crutches.
Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
He needed crutches, bro, He's hopping along. He needed those crutches,
all right.
Speaker 2 (01:04:06):
So I thought that was funny. And then the way
they used it was pretty brutal, you know, like using
it against each other. I think Gargotot got chopped in
the head at one point. I was like, damn, Like
it just looked like you don't see on the main
roster again, like and we didn't have a w we
had New Japan. New Japan Wrestling didn't really deal with
too many weapon weaponry like that, you know. At the time,
(01:04:32):
it was just it was like jarring in a good way.
And uh, man, I think the spot of the match
Chomp had taken the power bottom on the concrete. Man.
I remember my live reaction, like I think if I
was sitting down neither on my chair bed and I
got up because I thought that was it like just
(01:04:52):
taking a bump like that for somebody that came back
from because I believe it was after he had neck surgery, right,
or was it because had the knee surgery, But yeah,
I don't remember if it was before or after, but
just that I was like, oh my god, he his
head's all messed up, you know, like I'm I'm I
remember like walking around just like, oh my god, like
(01:05:13):
is it gonna get up? And uh just the sound
of it, I did. I did not expect that because
we we had like the Johnny Somerset flip and he's like, oh,
he's he's not really gonna power bomb off the apron
on the concrete. They're just you know, he's gonna counter it.
Oh it happened. Like just the thought process of my
head was crazy. I thought that was the spot of
(01:05:35):
the match that that was incredible. I don't I know,
Gargano went for a poison RNA but didn't seem like
he hit. I don't know if that was quite yeah,
but everything seemed okay after that, and I thought, uh,
the ending a little bit wonky were I think Champa
maybe tapped out too quick. But but I understand the uh,
(01:05:58):
you know, thought process, like he couldn't last another second
in that position with the dbras you know, killing his
neck and stuff like that. So but I loved the
whole thing where if Johnny lost, he'd be going for
NXT forever. He got Candice Larray come in them celebrate
on sanctioned match. It was a perfect main event for that.
(01:06:18):
Everything about that match just like hit for me.
Speaker 1 (01:06:22):
Uh, this was not my match of the night, but
it was. It was definitely an honorable mention. I agree
with Chris Johnson as far as the honorable mention. The
thing about we talked about, like the feud and the story,
because when did Chompa get hurt? He got hurt in
twenty seventeen. He was off for a while, right, so
we're talking about.
Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
I think he got hurt in the match where they
lost and he turned on Johnny right.
Speaker 1 (01:06:44):
I can't remember the exact time of that when that happened.
I think it was like Wrestlinging week in the year before.
Maybe it was like the summer if I can't remember
it specifically, but it was a while and then they
remembered and didn't just like forget it like nothing happened. No,
they picked it up and it was like, whoa, look
at that long term story. It's like, look out, how
the bar was in the hell borrowing back in twenty
(01:07:06):
eighteen for just a story in developmental. It wasn't even
like the main event of WrestleMania talking about we're talking
about a story that's in developmental, you know, trying to
and that's going like, yes, you know, this is it.
This is the stuff we wanted this, this is how
we win kind of deal. So I always found that
(01:07:26):
fascinating and I thought that it's a side note that
Gargana's Johnny Gargano's theme music was the truth.
Speaker 2 (01:07:34):
Bro.
Speaker 1 (01:07:35):
That was incredible. It's such a massive drop off in
theme music now in WW. But here's my problem with
this match. The only thing was is that it ran
a little too long for me in that there were
a lot of kickouts, just so many they were kind
of running them back. But outside of that is outstanding.
I will say that it was a great match. I
(01:07:56):
feel like I had another note here from this match,
but I can't remember what it was, so I'm going, oh,
the unsanctioned match. That's what I had here, in the
fact that it was unsanctioned because Gargano's injury and they
had they had him signed a whole harmless agreement. But
the one thing I noticed that they had to referee
Drake Wurtz wear a different colored shirt and gloves for
(01:08:17):
the match, which was the same thing they did in
this year for Kevin Owens and Sammy's Ain for their
unsanctioned match. Uh, they did remove the turnbuckle pads for
that though, right, they did do that, I believe correct,
but they did. I don't recall them doing that for
this match, but they did it for Samyse and Kevin Owans,
which I thought was a nice little extra touch. But
you see some of the you know, same same playbook,
(01:08:39):
but a bigger stage. You know that they're they're using here.
But yeah, that was my honorable mention. But my favorite
match of the night Again. I agree with Chris Johnson
in that it was the NXT North American Championship match,
which was Adam Cole, Ricochet, Killian Dane, e C Three,
Lars Sullivant and Velveteen Dream in a ladder match. An
incredible match, an incredible opener. But the thing is, when
(01:09:02):
I look at this match. We can talk about the
spots in a little bit, but then look at this match.
None of these guys are on WW anymore, not a
one for a variety of reasons. Some of it was
their own choice, some just left under their own volition.
Some of it was bas big Man's choice he fired
them right. Some of it was due to their own controversies,
(01:09:23):
you know, like a velveteen Dream or Laura Sullivan and then.
But either way, there was a lot of talent in
this match that could be doing great things in WW
right now, but for one reason or another, they are not.
And I found that interesting. But the match yourself, like
Chris said, spot's good lore, I mean spots all over
the place, and the crowd was electric. They were here
(01:09:45):
for all of them. Ricochet was flying around early, flying
around everywhere. I think right off the bat he had
like a dive to the outside on a whole bunch
of people. The power bomb from on Laura Sullivan from
the ladder to the mat was crazy and almost in
an a disaster. Killian Dane did a splash onto the
(01:10:07):
ladder that was on top of EC three with Adam
Cole on his back. That was crazy. Uh, they went crazy.
Theynownce were crazy. When Nars Sullivan caught Killian Dane, I
found that interesting. He was like I thought, he caught
him out of like mid air and a round the
back like no, he just jumped into his arms. That's
what happened. Lars Sullivan tipping over the ladder that Ricochet
(01:10:27):
was on, and then Ricochet saying all I bet and
then doing a backflip off of it onto everybody else.
That was brilliant. Yes, that was brilliant. I was jumping
out of my seat watching that back in twenty eighteen.
Even velveteen dream controversial as he is or you know,
and then transgressions in the past and we draw documented.
But he hit a death valley driver onto Ricochet from
(01:10:49):
the top rope onto a ladder that was suspended between
another ladder and the turn buckle. Looked very painful h
Then Larsullivan choke slammed EC three, threw velveteen Dream in
the ladder that was outside of the rings. People, this
is a car crash, like Chris Johnson said, one car
crash after another. Marl Ronalo, I'm surprised he had a
(01:11:10):
voice after this because he's screaming so much and not
a bad way. I always enjoyed. Marl Ronaldo was announcing.
Killian Dane then put Ricochet in the ladder that was
also suspended between the ring apron and the announced table,
and then he got in a ring apron. Adam Cole said, hey,
come here, let me hit you a little bit, and
Killian Danes had cut that out and picked him up
(01:11:31):
and slammed him through Ricochet and through the ladder, and
I wrote, this is insane. This is one of the
best ladder matches I've ever seen. I forgot how good
this was. This match is better than most of the
money in the bank matches I've ever seen. This match
was fantastic. And then there's more. Ricochet goes he uh
straight up knocks larst Elevant off the ladder when he
(01:11:54):
tries to like springboard on it and glider his Tea
is over and.
Speaker 2 (01:11:57):
I felt like that was a spot gone wrong, but
it kind of worked out.
Speaker 1 (01:12:01):
It's still kind of worked, still kind of worked. Then
Adam Cole Knox shot off the ladder, which cleared the
way for Adam Cole to pull down the title and
become the very first the inaugural NXT North American Champion.
And what a way for that title's lineage to begin.
Uh and still to this day, one of the best
looking titles they got in wrestling as well. Uh in coal.
(01:12:24):
Funny enough, Adam Cole, Lancash's own Adam Cole has another
one of those belts right now, the T and T Championship.
I'm not sure how much how much people care about it,
but it's a good looking belt, that the T and
T Championship. But Adam Cole isn't finished. He still got
to defend the NXT Tag titles later on because Bobby
Fish is out due to injury. Oh wait, Adam Roderick
(01:12:46):
Strong is in that match too. I wonder how that
would play out. But yeah, your thoughts on the NXT
North American title ladder match, which is my.
Speaker 2 (01:12:54):
Macimical i'might be the only one in the world gives
that an honorable mention, but yeah, just fantastic. I think, Uh, Ricochet,
that was like my I didn't really watch his stuff
in New Japan or even the indies if he did,
like indie matches, Like my first consuming of his wrestling
(01:13:17):
was a NXC and I remember thinking, I've never seen
a guy like this before, you know, like the way
he's moving around, like even the luchadors and WCW never
did with Rickachet did. And I just remember being like,
of all the wrestling I've watched over the years, you know,
I've been a fan since I was five years old,
every like twenty plus years, twenty five plus years of
(01:13:42):
me watching wrestling, I've never seen anybody like Ricochet. And
I just remember being in awe by him. In this specific match,
him getting tossed around by Killian Dane and Lar Salva
was really funny, and him the second time he took
like a he rolled, let his momentum carry him out
the ring and just of flopping around. I was like
Rick Achet, man, like he's the guy, Like, I love
(01:14:05):
that guy. I feel bad about saying, uh, he was
like our had negative ra when he went to aw
because what he's doing now is great. I know, I know,
hand up, hand up, not proud of that, but uh
yeah I sold him short at that point. But you know,
(01:14:26):
I mean he wasn't getting anywhere. But that's beside the point.
Uh just is that X run even in the main roster,
he was doing certain things that you just didn't see
and it didn't work out for him on the main roster.
But uh, you know, just this specific match, I remember
being like, Ricochet better win that title eventually, and he did,
(01:14:47):
but he did he you know, I was like I
thought he was gonna win it at first, So when
Cole won in, I was kind of like annoyed, but
I was like, Okay, well maybe Ricochet can beat him
for it. Yeah you know, but yeah, Ricochet was by
takeaway from this match because it was just his spots
were way more impressive than what I had seen even
Shelton Benjamin do. With the first money in the back.
(01:15:08):
I remember being like, oh, like shot Benjamin money in
the bank, Like it's gonna be really really hard to
top this. Ricochet did it.
Speaker 1 (01:15:17):
Yeah, he was incredible on this match. I really just
think this is his first takeover as well, so he
kind of was just you know, showing out. You know,
he had to you know, stake his claim as to
be the guy in the next t the potential future
of NXT in ww And obviously that didn't work out,
but that was what they were trying to get across
(01:15:38):
in this match, and I think they did, at least
Ricochet did. But moving on to I guess as you
call it the least favorite match of the show. I
still left it as worst match of the show. But
it's not like this match was necessarily bad. But for me,
I did not have I disagree with Chris. I did
not have the women's title match here. I had the
(01:15:59):
INNX tag title match here Undisputed Air Office of Pain
Rodericks against Roderick Strong and Pete Dunn. I had my note.
The match was fine, but this is more about Roderick
Strong switching sides and helping the Undisputed Air retain the
tag titles and when the Dusty Heroes Tag Team Classic.
This happened after a Strong Roderick Strong had been fighting
(01:16:20):
the Undisputed Air for weeks and in this match, but
despite that logic gap, Roderick Strong being with the group
made perfect sense and they were better with him around,
so but outside of that, the match itself was just fine.
It wasn't bad, it was fine. But your thoughts, sir
on the worst match of the night at least favorite
match of the night from Takeover.
Speaker 2 (01:16:42):
I see your logic, and I do kind of agree
with you in that, you know, probably in terms of
being a tag title match and a Dusty Rhodes tournament
final was kind of like eh, But my least favorite
match was the women's title match, mainly because finish kind
of came out of nowhere and didn't feel like they
(01:17:03):
gave them a lot of time. I don't know if
there was some injury or just nothing was going, but
I remember like kind of settling in and like I know,
Shana had the submission on ember Moon, and I was
just kind of like waiting for the next phase of
the match. And because I you know, it'd been I
(01:17:24):
don't think I watched the show since their live, so
I wasn't exactly sure how it ended. And because I don't,
I didn't look at the results or anything, so I'm
just like kind of waiting for the next phase of
the match, and Ember Moon's out. Oh. Shane Shannon Basler
is a champion, Like, oh okay, so kind of came
out of nowhere for me. It was anti climatic, thought
(01:17:45):
it could have been more than it was. But honorable
mention is the tag match where I do like the
heel turn. I think kind of made sense because Bobby
Fish was hurt, so they I think I don't even
remember how they explained it after the fact that it's
just like, oh, we paid Roderick a lot of money,
Like that's all you really need when somebody turns heel
(01:18:08):
and you need to fill in the logicals if you
have any, just be like, oh, we paid them off.
So but I do like and during the Tag title
watch they kind of shifted Adam Cole out for most
of the match because that's believable, right, he just went
through a grueling ladder match, became the first North American champion,
went through a table, and then he's out, so kind
(01:18:30):
of like maybe roder Trump was like, oh, like you know,
I'll help them out, maybe me or something like that,
and that's why he did it. But yeah, it was
just a little weird. Definitely. That finish also kind of
came out of nowhere for me because all it like
rod turned on Pete Dounn and then like that the
pin happens, so it's kind of like, oh, okay, but yeah,
(01:18:51):
that was also. I just like, the most I liked
about this match is how they wrote kind of Adam
Cole out of the match, and it kind of made
sense because it was the second match.
Speaker 1 (01:19:03):
It was, like I said, it was fine for what
it was. This wasn't necessarily bad.
Speaker 2 (01:19:08):
Why they needed the tag title match and the Dusty
Rhodes Classic Tournament finals like Intertwined, They didn't really need that.
But it's not like they were in the like Bobby
Fish and kyral' riley were in the tournament, like they weren't.
They were just there, and I guess Adam Cole was like,
we got to save our tag titles, but I guess
(01:19:28):
they were gonna be stripped of them, and that was
their way of not being stripped of them. But it
still was like walky logic, and I didn't really like
the triple threat aspect of it.
Speaker 1 (01:19:41):
Back to the women's title match that mentioned being you know,
your least favorite, I will say I don't have that
as my least favorite, but I will say that just
a note that I had from it was that Ember Moon.
Why has it taken so long for aw to get
Imber Moon slash Athena on regular television, not just Ring
(01:20:01):
of Honor.
Speaker 2 (01:20:02):
Oh she's still part of that company. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:20:05):
Oh, I think she's about the feud with Mercedes Monation, Oh,
which is like to her. I mean maybe maybe not,
but I just feel like when you look at her here,
she was made to look like a star in an
XT and then of course you know, she gets to
the main roster and things don't go right because offence
wick Man. But there was nothing she did there that
(01:20:27):
said she didn't that she wasn't ready to be on
Dynamite or Collision. They're finally getting around to it, but
it's taken way too long in my opinion.
Speaker 2 (01:20:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:20:35):
Uh, And they put so many people on TV but
could never find a spot for Athena. I never got
that at all. And I'm not saying that she needs
to be the centerpiece of the division, but there's no
reason she shouldn't be on the show at all. And
I'm just watching this and it's like they've given her
like a guitar interron and stuff like that, Like they
clearly believe in her. Why wouldn't aw put her on TV.
(01:20:57):
Just don't understand it.
Speaker 2 (01:20:59):
I need a random thought later on. But it kind
of circle back to this. It kind of makes sense together.
I we thought like for years like ww's ruinning this guy.
This is when AW was you know, around, So it's like, oh,
if he goes AW like, they'll book him right type thing.
(01:21:19):
I thought that people thought the same thing with Alistair Black.
People thought the same thing Ozero so and androte. So
when they go somewhere and they're hearing this chatter of oh,
you need to go here, you'll be booked better, and
they want to be booked better and they're not, or
they feel like they're not, then yeah, they're gonna be like, wait,
(01:21:40):
I came here to get you know, win, you know,
get a title or something like why are we not
doing that? And then maybe they have issues after the fact.
So it kind of it made me think about when
you said that when Ember moons, like, I guess I
don't want to say grasses use the grasses greener thing.
But if you're being told by people who love wrestling
(01:22:04):
is like, you go here, you'll be booked better, and
you start believing that maybe and maybe you don't, but
like I mean, that's another place where you could go
and become a top dog no pun intended to our
Roman Reigns conversation earlier, and you're not, then, yeah, like
you're probably gonna be like what the hell man, Like
it's frustrating. So it kind of like that ties into
(01:22:27):
my point about Alistair Black and Mirro, you know, which
was in my random thoughts where yeah, like I guess
there's like there were rumors that they're difficult to work
with because they never wanted to lose, and it's like, well,
these people outside of that bubble or let's just say,
inside that bubble, we're telling them, oh, you should go
somewhere where you never lose like this because he's not
(01:22:49):
using so you know that it's just walky logic, Like
it just doesn't make sense to me to where people
start getting getting mad at them for not wanting to
lose somewhere else. So it's like, I don't know, you
can either you could either like that booking logic or not,
but like, don't get mad at Miro or Alistair Black
for not wanting to lose. Maybe they're being difficult or whatever,
(01:23:10):
but that's because they went somewhere where they thought they
were going to be the top guy and they're not.
Speaker 1 (01:23:14):
So right, like I'm supposed to be star around here.
Speaker 2 (01:23:18):
So like that that's maybe I mean, obviously there's things
we don't know that are happening behind the scenes, but
you know, that's kind of like my take from it,
where you know you're going somewhere that you think you're
going to be a star, and I think that, you know,
maybe the same for Athena. She thought she was going
to be a star, and you know, it's like, all right,
do this first and then we'll get we'll get to
(01:23:40):
you down the road type of thing. And some people
don't like it.
Speaker 1 (01:23:46):
Well, a lot of people didn't like their runs in
aw or vice versa, right.
Speaker 2 (01:23:53):
Right, And I'm not saying the answer is to go
back to w and I mean you'll be better off,
but I mean that's what, right, that's what we're doing.
Speaker 1 (01:24:00):
One right, Uh, we don't talk about that in the
second more with Alistair Black and dried it. But I
didn't have a top non wrestling happening or worst non
wrestling happening. They was just mostly wrestling. I mean, we
do have like, like Chris Johnson said, celebrity appearances of
people sitting at ringside type stuff, but that that stuff
didn't really matter to me. I mean not enough to
(01:24:21):
make it like a top non wrestling or the worst
non wrestling happening. But I don't know if you had anything,
you decide okay.
Speaker 2 (01:24:27):
Okay, the worst non wrestling I could out the ways
the heavy metal intro, the band intro, I was just like,
when I turned it on, I was like, seriously, like
I just kind of sighed. It was annoying. So if
that's the worst thing that happened during the show, I
guess that's a good thing. But yeah, I felt like
including it. But by top non wrestling happening to moster
(01:24:48):
chomp his entrance.
Speaker 1 (01:24:50):
A silence, I forgot about that, Yeah, silence for.
Speaker 2 (01:24:54):
His music Croudshanning. Oh man, it was great him just
looking around those selling it like and then waiting just
waiting for Garganos music to hit, you know, and like
the heat just building and building and building. I loved
Champa's no music entrance because the fans just kind of
took over. I guess that was the beauty of uh,
(01:25:15):
you know, I'm not talking about this specific night, but
like even at full sale. When they were in full sale,
everyone was just on him like doing mercifully. Reminds me
of the Domasterio, right, but this was like an XT.
No one really, you know, not main rosters. So who
who's paying attention to this except a niche group of fans.
(01:25:37):
But it was one of my favorite things of this
era where the crowd would just like kill him and
he had no music and it was just great. You
let the crowd always take over. Yeah, And and it
wasn't even like they were just handing one thing. The
fans were channel like you suck if you chompa and
even Johnny Wrestling, and you would see like just that
(01:25:57):
was it was just great. I love that atmosphere.
Speaker 1 (01:26:00):
Yeah, the fact that he came out to no music
and just the chorus of Booze was his song. Brilliant,
brilliant stuff. You didn't think. You got to think, this
is twenty eighteen. People weren't getting booed like that.
Speaker 2 (01:26:15):
Because we love how you do your job. It's like
it wasn't he.
Speaker 1 (01:26:18):
Didn't see you didn't see heels get booed like that.
You might see some people get booed like that today
because just I think the product is just a little
bit better. But in twenty in WWE in twenty eighteen,
that was not happening, bro, And so for Johnny o'gannall
to just have all booze so much so it is like,
you know, it just cut the music off, bro, I
just want to hear the booze. It's like it was
special because it wasn't a thing that happened a lot
(01:26:42):
at this time. So yeah, I agree with that. That
was that was a cool little feature that Johnny o'gannall
that he just didn't not Johnny Goganna to muscle Chomp,
but that he just didn't have these music at this time.
He didn't need any.
Speaker 2 (01:26:54):
And it's funny because I think maybe the last time
we had a similar thing on the main roster before
this was when Roman Reigns beat the Undertaker and wrestling
it right the next day he's in the ring and
the audience is just build him as he's about to
talk and he's not talking, so like is that like
the that's like the real last time we saw that
on a main roster to where that atmosphere was there,
(01:27:19):
and it's like, man, I missed it.
Speaker 1 (01:27:22):
Yeah, it was great. Stuff. It was great stuff. I
have a hidden gym though, and I think Chris Johnson
said this as well. It was the NXT Championship Alistair Black,
Versons and Drede Almas, and I've put that this match.
This is a match between two guys triple as booked
well in the next t then they were squandered on
the main roster. They both went to a W was
(01:27:44):
also squandered there, only to come back into w W
and in the case of Andrade, still kind of up
to nothing. We'll see what happens with Alison Black though
we'll steal. We'll see what happens with him. But this
match is great. I think if you know you talk
about this show, I think a lot of people are
gonna talk about the ladder match and the main event
(01:28:04):
between Gargana and Chomper, but this one kind of gets lost,
even though it's for the Championship, and it's got Alista
Black and Andrada, who are both people you know, known
wrestlers and both capable of putting on good matches. But
yet this gets kind of lost in the shuffle of
this show. But this match is awesome, and the finish
was awesome with Andrade having caught Selenavega out of the air,
(01:28:29):
and Alista Black immediately goes to the Black mass kick boom,
he drops, he drops Alena Vega and gets him for
the pen crowd came alive. So yeah, that was dope.
I thought that just overall the mattress dope. And then
you got Alista Black's music, which is just like, oh,
it's incredible. It's entrance. Oh it was so cool. Then
(01:28:52):
they added a creek sound to it in the main
roster and made it uncool right away. God, I'm looking
at this like, yo, this was so fired. You could
do this again today and people be like, yo, that's hard.
Seven years later, it still slaps bro. But Vincement Man's like,
gotta change it. You gotta make it mine.
Speaker 2 (01:29:12):
Gotta add the sound so people know exactly what it is.
Speaker 1 (01:29:17):
That's the that's the trick. Or with Ricochet, it was like, Pemi,
what Pio get it? Because its ricochet? Oh man, why
do they do that to people? Also, uh, it was
(01:29:37):
funny to see Alista Black and Zelina Vegon opposing sides.
Now that they are a married couple. How about that? Uh,
I think they're gonna be on the brain same brand
soon though because Alice Black it looks like it's coming
back to SmackDown. So still that goes. They need, you know,
they can use some some mid upper mid car guys
on SmackDown. Yeah, for sure. Uh and give somebody also,
(01:30:01):
they need somebody for coming Hayes to beat just keeps losing.
Bro can't keep doing this with him and mis come on,
now we gotta do better. But go ahead.
Speaker 2 (01:30:10):
I like, uh, just you mentioned the ending of the
match and it kind of I didn't mention it during
the ladder match or the other match. The main event
these the speed that these guys are working at and
girls is like phenomenal, and that's what I loved about wrestling,
like the quick past wrestling. And also we didn't see
(01:30:34):
that in the main roster for forever, so you know,
twenty eighteen. It's also, yes, the product is better because
the talent's better, the matches are better, but also the
pace is great and there's not very many botches either,
because when you work quick pace, I'm sure the the
risk of botches increases, but I didn't see much of
(01:30:58):
that on this night. So the ending where you know,
Andrade catches Zelena and kind of turns around and the
black mass is so quick, you know, like it's not
you're not seeing somebody set up for the next step.
It's just like bing bang boom. And I love that
about wrestling, Like we don't see that often enough now
because it's uh choreographed to Again, I know it's for
(01:31:22):
the safety of the wrestlers, and I don't have a
problem with that, but just seeing things in fast motion
compared to slow motion does make a difference for me
as a viewer, you know, like consuming it and I'm
just like, damn, Like if you did that, you know,
in like half speed, it wouldn't look as impressive as
you did it, like the way you just did it,
(01:31:43):
and just and that ending is part of it, you know,
even though spots in the ladder match, spots in the
main event, it's just incredible the pace that they worked
at at that point. And it's just I loved it.
Speaker 1 (01:31:58):
Yeah, great match.
Speaker 2 (01:31:59):
I don't know if you you or like remember back,
it's just like everything on the main roster was so slow.
Speaker 1 (01:32:08):
I haven't I have her. I mean, I'm not gonna
go back and watch it anytime soon, but I can.
I can picture it in my head and know that. Yeah,
And it doesn't help that nothing was over, So maybe
it was slow mostly because the crowd wasn't really into it.
There was no emotional investment, so that makes it even
slower as opposed to now. I don't know if this
style is that much different, other than you're more engaged
(01:32:29):
in the stories at least some of them more, not
all of them, but some more than what we were
in twenty eighteen at least. So there's that. I got
some random thoughts now, by the way, Oh you'll get
in Jim.
Speaker 2 (01:32:43):
Go ahead with my family because stuff that was hilarious.
Speaker 1 (01:32:47):
That was terrible.
Speaker 2 (01:32:48):
I forgot. I forgot about the scene from that movie
and the rocks just like lambasting them. And but then
you come back. He's like, yeah, so that's how you
went a crowd over. I thought, like I laughed out loud.
Speaker 1 (01:33:02):
It was kind of funny.
Speaker 2 (01:33:03):
But they didn't have to run it twice.
Speaker 1 (01:33:04):
Though they didn't have to run it twice, and you
got the page promo beforehand, where with the meme that's
now infamous page. Yeah, and it's like, what, yes, not
gonna lie.
Speaker 2 (01:33:17):
That's part of the reason I put it on here.
But I thought the promo was funny.
Speaker 1 (01:33:21):
Not flattering for page or slash sorayah, she's coming back.
Speaker 2 (01:33:28):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:33:28):
Yeah, she's not in a w anymore. That's a good
question we get discussed at another day. Another random thought here.
I forgot that at the end of SHANEA. Baysler versus
In Bramon, we got Shane and Basil who won the
NXT Women's Championship for And I liked the story in
that match too. They kind of like have move in Bermon,
give Shane a dose of her own medicine, and then
(01:33:49):
Shane of popper and the shoulder back in the socket somehow.
But after she wins.
Speaker 2 (01:33:53):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:33:54):
She hugs Ronda Rousey and Jessmin Duke after the match,
two of her fellow four horse in of MMA, the
other one being of course Marina Shaffur, who's in AW
right now. It's part of the death rioters holding the
briefcase with the AEW World Championship in it allegedly.
Speaker 2 (01:34:12):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:34:12):
And of course Ronda Rousey made her in ring debut
the next night for WW at WrestleMania thirty four, one
of the actually one of the best matches of the show,
which is like sad to say in hindsight that the
best match arguably from that show was Ronda Rousey, you'd
never wrestled before, and three people over well over the
age of forty five.
Speaker 2 (01:34:32):
Nobody requests that, please can't keep your money.
Speaker 1 (01:34:38):
You can't say that. Now. People are definitely gonna do
it and make it. Sit there and watch it for
four and a half hours. Look, Chris, don't do it
to me, to God, do it in twenty twenty eight,
when it's ten years from now, all right, do it then. Okay,
But random thoughts. Another random thought that I had that
(01:34:58):
we got a Britt Baker sighting we did this show.
I didn't you saw that during entrance too, Yeah, plane,
like right into the camera. It's like they knew what
they were.
Speaker 2 (01:35:07):
Doing exactly exactly.
Speaker 1 (01:35:09):
She didn't she didn't work there. She never worked there.
I mean, she might have had a tryout or something,
but she was never in the n XT in their system,
and they put her right up there like, yep, that's her.
I guess they were just trying to create some buzz,
get people talking, because you know, it was like a
thing that people I guess starting to learn that they
were together at this point and not together now. But
(01:35:31):
it was like, oh, look at that Adam Cole and
his fellow wrestler girlfriend here. So there's that. We got
a promo for the Roman Rings Block Lesbon match after
the first match on the show, which is like, Jarring,
get this great ladder match, and then we get this
promo for this boring bland feud for the title where
(01:35:52):
Roman Rings like brocked and show up for work today?
Were you switching the hr.
Speaker 2 (01:35:59):
Somewhere in his corneas sounds and then the goatee, it's cringe.
Speaker 1 (01:36:05):
And in Roman going he better be dressed for a fight.
That's straight out of Vince McMahon wrote that himself. He
wrote that type that down. He's like, perfect, that's great.
Better be ready for a fight. Get that trash out
of here. And then the story was pretty much Brock
showing up for work. He just didn't show up for work,
and Vince was giving him special privileges, and it's like,
(01:36:27):
what is for?
Speaker 2 (01:36:28):
What for? Why?
Speaker 1 (01:36:29):
For?
Speaker 2 (01:36:29):
How?
Speaker 1 (01:36:30):
Like what? This just feels like something pulled out of
thin air. There's nothing leading to that. All year, Vince
had no interaction with Brock, and not that I can remember,
not on screen. It wasn't like a thing that Vince,
that brock was working at Vince's behest, like Vince was
giving him whatever he wanted in storyline. In reality that
was the case, but the story that was never the case.
Speaker 2 (01:36:51):
Which would have made sense two years prior. Vince was
very much a part of screwing Roman Reigns on screen,
you know.
Speaker 1 (01:36:59):
But now it's it's like they brought Vince back for
desperation to s. I just was like, what And then
they did all of that, and I guess Roman Reigns
is representing the working man, the hard working person who
goes to work every day, unlike brock Lesnon and his
lunch pound, his hard hat, you know. And then after
(01:37:21):
all of that, Romans still lost. He still got bloodied
and battered and lost.
Speaker 2 (01:37:30):
How did he come back from this? Honestly, how did
he come back from this?
Speaker 1 (01:37:34):
So here's what happened, and it's a shame to say.
He won the title what twenty eighteen, Then he came
down with leukemia unfortunately, and people felt, you know, rightfully
felt bad for the guy. And then he left after
when the pandemic started, rightfully, so again yes, true, and
then because that's yeah, and that's when he came back
(01:37:56):
as the tribal chief. So that's how he came back.
He had to complete to go away for a while,
and it completely changed who he.
Speaker 2 (01:38:01):
Was because champion. Wooh, brutal.
Speaker 1 (01:38:07):
But he couldn't go on as the big dog no more.
Speaker 2 (01:38:10):
Couldn't.
Speaker 1 (01:38:11):
This wasn't gonna work anymore. And I forgot that he
was not even like really like beating people left them
right neither. In twenty nineteen, Baron Corbin, remember day I
was at this on TV. The last person to beat
Roman Rains was Baron Corbin. Where the hell are we doing?
You mean the big Dog? He's losing the to the
to the manager from Ruby Tuesday.
Speaker 2 (01:38:32):
Come on on, bro.
Speaker 1 (01:38:33):
This is when Baron Krbert was dressing in this, in
the vest and the shirt. He's like the constable. He's
rubbing dog food.
Speaker 2 (01:38:41):
I was gonna say that, wasn't that on SmackDown? On
SmackDown when it was on Fox? Oh? I think so.
Speaker 1 (01:38:49):
I think that was twenty nineteen.
Speaker 2 (01:38:51):
Oh it was twenty eighteen.
Speaker 1 (01:38:53):
He did that, twenty eighteen, nineteen, No nineteen, the Foxes, No, uh.
Speaker 2 (01:38:58):
Well yeah they went to nineteen.
Speaker 1 (01:39:00):
But yeah, late twenty nineteen.
Speaker 2 (01:39:02):
I didn't know if the dog food thing was when
SmackDown was on Fox. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:39:06):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:39:07):
It was bad.
Speaker 1 (01:39:08):
I know that no matter what it was on. Yeah,
terrible stuff that they had him doing. So Yeah, the
fact that Roman Reigns recovered from all this nonsense is
a damn near miracle.
Speaker 2 (01:39:19):
All He's a Hall of Favorite right now just for.
Speaker 1 (01:39:21):
That, bro, More power to him, because a lot of
people would have folded or just would have kept would
have just been broken and just been like, all right,
I'll just keep doing it because I get paid.
Speaker 2 (01:39:29):
I'll just go act, you know, like I'm sure he's
a wanted actor.
Speaker 1 (01:39:34):
Look, thank goodness, he got it right, Thank goodness. Honestly,
when you really think about it, Roman reign is becoming
a tribal chief kind of was a catalyst for people
liking wrestling again, to be honest with you, yeah, it
was the catalyst that started a lot of a lot
this run that we're on that did not we're on
that wrestling is on as far as WWE, and like
how the business is hot and becoming slowly with surely
(01:39:57):
more mainstream again. You can think Roman Reigns for that
because without the tribal chief character, I don't know where
the hell w day would be at least, And then
of course physic Man had to get out, so that
helped too. He had he had to get out because
I'm sure things wouldn't have gotten much better even he.
No matter how good the tribal Chief was, the rest
of the car would still been terrible, because just look
(01:40:18):
at WrestleMania in twenty twenty two, it wasn't great. It
wasn't great when you really think about it. That was
hysic Man's I think last WrestleMania that he booked all
on his own, that like under his complete control. And yeah,
it looks different now for sure, but yeah, that that
promo is just like, oh god, that was so bad,
(01:40:39):
so bad, And it was funny to see Roman Reigns
like talking to Paul Hymen and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (01:40:45):
It was just this weird stuff I did, like when
he got hairdcuffed and then he beat up the cops
and then Brock came out and killed him because he
was handcuffed.
Speaker 1 (01:40:55):
Like that was kind of oh, yeah, that's kind of funny.
But you know, we've seen Roman Reins beat up get
beat up a BYT. Brock Lessner how many times by
this point.
Speaker 2 (01:41:04):
Throw it off the stage on the stretcher by Broun
Strowman too.
Speaker 1 (01:41:07):
All kinds of stuff. My last note though, is that
is NXT bringing back the Dusty Rose Tag Team Classic.
Speaker 2 (01:41:14):
What's the last time they had it?
Speaker 1 (01:41:15):
They had it last February. At least they finished it
in last February, so we're past that obviously, so what's up.
Speaker 2 (01:41:21):
Yeah, they actually it was originally in the Fall, so
they actually switched it this year, the twenty eighteen, so
it had been like a year and a half since
the last one. So I wondered if they're just trying
to figure out the timing of it. But they definitely
should bring it back. I mean, there's no reason not to,
(01:41:43):
all right.
Speaker 1 (01:41:43):
They love Dusty Rhoades. I mean, I'm sure they're looking
for ways to use that name. Yeah, I don't know,
but that's all the notes I had. I don't know
if you had any random notes.
Speaker 2 (01:42:00):
Uh. I brought up the Alistair Black and Miro and
eper moving thing I did. Also, I wanted that the
funniest moment, even though I said it earlier, but the
tour of the tag title match Kyler Riley no selling
a German suplex from one of the authors of pain
and then falling out of the ring like two seconds
later popped me. I was like, I laughed out loud
(01:42:20):
because he was like getting up from the German Suplex.
He was like yeah, and then he just fell out
of the ring. It was the funniest moment for me
for sure. I also pondered the question, is Adam Coles
NXT run still better than it's current aw one, because
you know, this was just the start really of his domination.
Speaker 1 (01:42:45):
The best part of Adam Coles NXT or not NX
T one aw one was the stuff he did with MJ.
Absolutely absolutely everything before that and up until this point
after that, and let me just say, the Undisputed Kingdom
and the Devil stuff, not to no fault of their own.
It was a matter of injuries that kind of derailed that,
(01:43:05):
but that's stunk. Like once he got revealed as a devil.
Speaker 2 (01:43:10):
You can you can have your writing take take over
what went to deal with injuries and just have things
that still are uh wanted to be consumed. It's still
popular and stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:43:21):
I get you, it's just harder to do when you
can't They can't work. You know, it's just tougher to do.
I understand that. But when he got revealed as a devil,
it went downhill. So but yeah, I would say the
NXT run is so far better than this a w
one because he looked like a star in an XT.
You look at him on this show, it looks like
he's ready, not just to beat the North American champion.
(01:43:42):
But eventually he did win. He won the NXT championship.
Speaker 2 (01:43:46):
So it like the roster first too for that Robber
series that I believe.
Speaker 1 (01:43:51):
Yeah, and I think he beat Daniel Bryan on TV. Yeah,
so they at least Triple H was like, yeah, that's
my guy.
Speaker 2 (01:43:59):
Say what he is climbing the ladder. He just looked
really small when he was reaching for the belt, and
I just laughed, thinking like, oh, Vince is watching this,
be like oh yeah, like he's too small. I'm not
I'm not going to do anything with him because he
can't reach the belt even though he was like three
rungs down. Like I was like, that's probably Vince's thought process.
Speaker 1 (01:44:21):
I can't even reach the belt, can't reach it. Too short.
Speaker 2 (01:44:25):
One even though he won, can't win Widow.
Speaker 1 (01:44:30):
But yeah, any other random notes from you and all.
Speaker 2 (01:44:34):
Those Triple H pressers on Facebook Live.
Speaker 1 (01:44:37):
I don't I did not watch those, so I was
not there for those at all. But I'm not promoting
this is so cool.
Speaker 2 (01:44:43):
We can hear him right after the show on Facebook Live.
It's like, just use YouTube, bro, Like I guess the
technology wasn't as advanced as it is now because everything's
on YouTube now.
Speaker 1 (01:44:53):
They probably had to deal with Facebook to the part
of the promotion.
Speaker 2 (01:44:57):
I'm sure so, but yeah, you he was just so
easy to go to. You can find you know whatever
posts events and yeah, I had noted right the Reins
promo with Hayman and his goofy ring gear, his like
he was wearing. I was like, man, how did he
come back? How did he come back? But kudos to
(01:45:20):
him for being able to do it, because it was
like everything we wanted, like anti like NXT was everything
anti what Roman Reigns stood for. It felt like because
we knew Roman was Vince's guy, like he was eventually
gonna win the title. But we don't want this Roman
Reigns to win the title. We wanted the one from
(01:45:41):
like twenty fourteen who was a badass and just they
never got it. They never cared so or much, say
Vince not they but but yeah, just another reminder of
why NXT was so good and why ww's main roster
so bad, which is frustrating.
Speaker 1 (01:46:02):
I used to think about, we used to talk about,
I should say how we looked forward more to the
takeovers than the actual pay per view. And that was
not just for WrestleMania. That was for Survivor series, especially
if you know how I feel about Survivor series. But
if they did NXT takeover Brooklyn before Summer Slam or whatever,
every time, and this was another one where NXT would
(01:46:24):
come in hot and up one up the main roster,
the main roster. I remember hearing reports that the main
roster was like, man, we don't get to do none
of that fun stuff. They to do it in XT
and they would get upset. But yeah, different times, man,
I would different times, Man, different times. But if you
don't have any more notes, I don't have any more notes.
(01:46:45):
