Speaker 1 (00:13):
What's up everyone out there in internet land, and welcome
to episode four thirty of The Straight Shooters available wherever
podcasts are found. My name is Vaughan Johnson, and I'm
joined as always by my main man Pots and Pans,
Nick Pecone and Fox PHL the Gambler and Philly Influencer.
And we have yet another fantastic show ahead of us
here on episode four thirty. It is a deep dive.
(00:36):
It is a Patreon request for this particular deep dive.
It is a show that took place, oh, let's say,
twenty four years ago this month.
Speaker 2 (00:44):
It is Judgment Day from two.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Thousand and one. We're in the middle of the two
Man Power Trip. No, not in the White House, but
in WWE two Man Power Trip between Steve Auson and
Triple H going on there. We're going to I've all
into it, but before we do, I got do my
weekly check on my main man Pots and Pants.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Nick. How are you on this Sunday afternoon? My good brother.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Coming off that big Phillies win in Sacramento late at night.
I'm feeling good today. I'm enjoying myself. I'm still battling
some elements, but I'm better I'm feeling better, and I
actually missed a lot of the comeback last night, but
I woke up in time around two o'clock two am
(01:33):
to watch the Phillies beat the Athletics and extra earnings.
Unbeknownst to me how they got there, because I fell
asleep after it was six or five Athletics after Brent
Rooker's home run. So I was just like, okay, whatever,
I guess this is where it ends. But yeah, that's
like an exciting game, maybe the most exciting game of
the MLBA season. Totally unbiased opinion there. So yeah, I
(01:57):
mean that was a lot of fun, a lot of
fun all morning, uh you know, clipping their calls, the
TV radio calls of the game on every which angle
and uh, every such angle. And I don't know what
the phrase is. I'm tired, man, I.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Mean that's fair. I was not awake for that.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
I did not stay up to watch the Philadelphia Phillies
versus just the Athletics, which I did not know until
the series that they don't have a city name.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Yeah, I went at the school boards like at h.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Athletics around the horn.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
I'm like, waitte, I know they don't play in Oakland
because they playing the Sacramento in the minor league ball
park because the Vegas deal crumbled and Vegas said get
out of here until you.
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Get a new plan.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
But I thought they still represented at least a city
like either Oakland or even Sacramento. Instead, they are just
the Athletics. What in a complete embarrassment that franchises. I'm sorry,
I know the game was exciting, but boy oh boy,
And the craziest part of it is that they have
have Las Vegas sponsorship on their jerseys.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Yeah, they can't play in Las Vegas.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
What what are y'all doing? What are they doing? You have?
This is a complete disaster. I feel like I just
realized it until until the Phillies played. Like I knew
it was bad, but there's.
Speaker 1 (03:19):
One thing to see it, and it's like, wait a second.
They're just the Athletics and they have Vegas sponsorship on
the jerseys, but they don't play anywhere New Vegas. What
is wrong with y'all? This is once a great, proud
franchise that was in Philly.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Athletics most successful baseball franchise in Philly to this day,
Like right because the five World Series championships.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
The Phillies have had a surprisingly rough go over the years,
over the decades. I think they're the first team in
ten thousand losses, right, yep. So, but you know they're
good now, they've they had some recent success, but traditionally
not a successful team on the field. But like, yeah,
the athletics. It's sad, It's really sad. I feel bad
for athletics fans.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
Oakland. I mean that's tough.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Ship readers and a great friend on Twitter, big A's fan,
big Philly fan, but he lives in the West Coast
and he's adopted the A's as you know, his team
as well, and he's just so tired of it. Shout out,
shout out to him. I know he's a big A's fan.
Appreciated some of those A's calls. I posted, Uh, they
(04:30):
have a good broadcast team, so I mean they they
try to think. Earlier this year they dubbed the name
Oakramento or something like that, where oh stop it or Sackland. No,
I don't know, I know, I can't do that. I mean,
I mean they're trying to have as much fun with
it as they can because they're suffering too, you know,
(04:52):
like I'm sure the players are too, and that they're
not the only team that the Phillies have played in
a minor league stadium this year. The Tampa Bay Rays
are also playing to you know, they're they're in this
same situation like regarding the stadiums and stuff like that.
But they not a great franchise either. In the Phillies
(05:14):
their last World Series beat them when two thousand and eight.
But it's just how do you let two teams but.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
At least also had their stadium torn apart Hurricane, right,
But I mean.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
At the very least that that's part of the reason
why they're not playing at the trop.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
They can't play in the Miami Stadium when and just
have them play there when the Miami's on the road
like that. Those are the things where the logistics could
be worked out. But I feel like.
Speaker 2 (05:44):
This is what happens when you have halves and have nots.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
In sports.
Speaker 1 (05:50):
There are halves, which are the Dodgers in the say,
the Yankees and maybe the Mets now they have new ownership,
you know, to the Phillies too. You know, not maybe
to the extent of the Dodgers, maybe even the Yankees,
but the Phillies are among those teams. Now, yeah, and
there's some others, you know, they're Astros, and you know
some of others Texas Rangers, some others who are not
(06:10):
just you know, financially well off and they can spend,
but they also cultivate talent well right, and know how
to build a contender and with that brings money.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Right, But there are some have nots in baseball.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
And the Phillies got to play a couple in the
last couple of days, right, They got to play the A's,
then got the Rockies, which dope colors, dope branding, terrible
team right, horrible team eight and forty something right, and
like right now, this is one of the worst starts
in baseball history. Pirates are among those have not. They've
been to have not for a long time and unabashedly
the Rays somehow sprout up get talent, but then they
(06:46):
trade them all away because they have not at the
end of the day.
Speaker 2 (06:48):
So same like some owners are just cheap.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
You know, they could probably make some money in a
major market like the Miami Marlins, but get rid of
all the talent every time, every chance they can. So
that's what happened as we have haves and have nots,
and same thing I think I think goes in basketball
a little bit too. But in football, that's what it
makes football good because everybody gets a piece of the pie, right,
everybody gets a TV contract, so every owner is at
(07:12):
least propped up to a certain extent.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
They're not just left to defend for themselves.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
And see how that's working out in baseball when they
have teams, you know, TV contracts are all over the
place and the RSN deals are falling apart. The NFL
doesn't have those issues because every they share the share
the wealth with everybody, and that's how teams don't just
fall off the face of the earth like the Athletics.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Do you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
Teams that gidia are even playing in the major leagues
at this point, and they're literally not playing in a
major league ball park. So it's just maybe that's a
lesson for sports, maybe lessons for society too.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
You have haves and have nots. You have these great,
big things like the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
You know, these terrible things like the Athletics, and they're
in the same state technically, Like it's kind of crazy.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
They're playing the same.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
League, but when you look at it, they don't look
like it.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
It's kind of tough to watch.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
And their their field different than the Ray's situation where
they can you know their field. The home field is
not used daily at least I don't think it is
because the Yankees minor league team. I don't believe. I mean,
maybe it does, I don't know, I didn't I don't
remember hearing it when the Phillies were there a while ago,
(08:21):
but that A's field is played on every single day,
and I know that Phillies pitchers are having a kind
of a tough time with the mound. And see Wheeler
didn't look great, but he's still got the job done
because he played against the Athletics. Uh, Chris Sanchez didn't
look great, and uh, you know that was a game
that the Phillies had a Phillies loss written all over it.
(08:44):
But that was the A's had lost ten in a
row at that point. So now it's eleven in a row.
So yeah, there, the Phillies are lucking out this stretch
of the schedule for sure. I mean every team has
a stretch like this when they go through. Uh, this
part of the reason, A big reason why the Phillies
have the best record in Major League Baseball again, you know,
(09:06):
last May they were in the same spot, so you
hope this year it goes differently. But the way they're
winning is sort of different than what we saw last year.
They're doing a lot of the smaller things that you know,
you know, getting base hits instead of swinging for the
fences all the time. Even though Max Kepler, what a
mammoth home run last night the ninth inning, I missed
(09:29):
that live, but Matty's face and Bason Miller the hardest
thrower in MLB and take some deep with like short
Chase Utley esque swing. So it's stuff like that where
you're just like, oh, man, like, I hope it sustains
the rest of the year. And we see that in October,
like a lot of the clutch hits that they've been
getting clutch pitching as well, and Brandon Marsh's clutch throw
(09:55):
from center field to home couldn't be more perfect. Shades
is a shame victory in Atlanta in two thousand and eight.
I remember where I was for that game too. I
was at Applebee's. We were watching the Phillies Braves game
in two thousand and eight. The end, we just kind
of figured the Phillies were going to lose that game.
Second and third, one out, bottom of the ninth, I
(10:17):
believe it was. They were down one or down two. Really,
I guess spaces were loaded at that time, and fly
ball centerfield, Shane Victory no catches it, so that's the
second out. No, No, it was a base hit. It
was a base hit the center field. So the Braves
tying run was about to score to ruin brad Lidge's
(10:39):
perfect season of you know, I think it was in
June or July around that time, and he was he
still had a perfect, perfect season. I don't remember how
many saves at that time, but and it was about
to be broken. Perfect throw Shane Victory, no to Chris Coast.
That's a name, you remember, Chris Coast. I do not
(11:02):
man backup catcher for the Phillis that year. And uh,
just incredible, uh throw, credible tag. Uh this is before
us and replay. So he was at, he he was out.
It wasn't like he was safe and called out. He
was out. And uh I just remember going nuts at
Applebee's because incredible, man, incredible. I think Tom McCarthy was
(11:24):
on the call, so it wasn't Harry Kallis at that time. Uh,
maybe he was on the radio at the time, but
also Scott Franski was here, so it could have been him.
But I didn't really listen to the radio that much
back then either, so I didn't even like know what
that sounded like. But yeah, last night was like a
mirror mirrorred that and just a perfect throw from Brandon Marsh,
(11:45):
like a perfect tag from JT. Real butto where you know,
they have into replay and some people were like, oh,
I think you know he was safe, but the replay
makes it pretty clear JT talking him before his hand
hit the plate, so h And then you get after
that Phillies take the lead and then win the game.
(12:06):
That's like the perfect baseball game, the perfect regular season
baseball game where you have a little bit of everything.
And it was so fun to wake up too. And
after I fell asleep, or after Brent Rookers home run
to put them up six five, then you have I
wake up and I see the scores nine to six,
and after Schoreber scores to tag up on Cassiano's hit
(12:29):
the right field, and I'm just like, oh, like I
wonder how they got that, and then I just go
back and rewatch things and I'm like, oh my god,
like this is incredible. Like if I was watching it
live now, I saw that tenth enning when the A's
had the bases loaded and no outs before Brandon Mars
made that play, I don't think I think I would
have just turned the TV off because it's like, okay,
(12:51):
bases loaded, nobody out. Phillies are losing this for sure.
And so it's just one of those baseball games where
you're if you're a fan of baseball, you love that.
If you're a fan of the philm you love that.
And it's just that's why I'm talking about it right
now on May twenty fifth. It's just a random day
that I'm not gonna it's not gonna mean much, you know,
a week from now, but right now, it's like probably
(13:11):
the coolest baseball game that happened in the last week
or so. So it's fun.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
Man, go back and watch it.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
I guess if you're a Phillies fan, if you Athletics fan,
I'm sorry not.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
And it was a lot of back and forth through
the game too, Like the Phillies took the lead, and
then the A's took the leader, and the Phillies retook
the lead. That the A's retook the lead. It's one
of those back and forth was that I hate watching
live because obviously as a fan, you're like, you don't
like that. After the fact, you appreciate it as long
as your team's on the winning end.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
So well, let's move on to something I did watch
Saturday night.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Now with Saturday Night's main event, let's getting some current
day wrestling nonsense. What's a big takeaway from Saturday Night's
main event? Cody Roase is back.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
But in the main event, which was main event, jay
Uso defending his world title against Jake not Jake Logan
Paul a long Paul brother, John Cena interfered at the
like talking trashed uh jay Usso before the match, and
you almost think, like, oh, forget like they're both the
world champions right now, John Cena and Jay Usso. And
then Jim John Cena comes out and beats up j
(14:22):
j Uso during the match and tries to help Logan Paul,
but Jauss got back up and his former Tag Team
Championship partner Cody Rhodes comes out, He's got his fighting
tracks suit on. He ain't got no suit on, he
got his fighting clothes on, and he tells Johnson that
he's back, and they're gonna see He's gonna see John
Cena at Money in the Bank, and I think it's
(14:42):
gonna be a tag team match was what it sounded like.
Cody Rhodes and Jay Uso versus Logan Paul and John Cena,
which is like, okay, but now what Cody Rhoads is back?
Tag team match? Money in the Bank? Your thoughts?
Speaker 2 (14:56):
Nick?
Speaker 3 (14:58):
Uh? Nice? Pop? You know, I'm glad that, you know,
even he hasn't even been mentioned, I feel like on
TV for a month. But yeah, people didn't forget him,
so that's that's a good thing. And I didn't. I didn't,
Yeah right. I thought at least when he would come back,
it would be like a promo, kind of like set
(15:20):
the stage for what's next. I guess it wasn't like
terrible how the comeback happened, but I kind of wasn't.
It's funny. I've been talking for weeks like where the
hell's Cody Rose? And then he finally comes back, and
I'm just like Eh, that's not how I would have
booked it, like one of those, but I tried not
(15:42):
to be one of those. But I know I'm acting
like one of those. But it's you know, I'm just
like like, I don't know, it didn't it didn't do
much for me, Like I didn't ask for this tag
team match, so I'm not like crazy excited for it.
I don't know where it's gonna lead, but I do
think it's gonna lead to scene versus Jay like the Champions,
but I don't like that's really all I got from it.
(16:04):
I was like, okay, like I didn't even think about this,
like it's Cody and Sena gonna have rematches or something like.
I don't see that happening anytime soon.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
I mean Summer Slam is a thing.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Yeah, I mean like that would be to me, that's
not soon because you have like at least two or
three shows, big shows before then you got money in
the bank, led the Champions, and then Saturday Night's main
event in July, so three events before Summer Slam. So
I I think that that it's fine, Like if they
(16:37):
do it for summer.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
They can they can spread out. Yeah, they try to
spread out their main events too. It's because it's a
big event doesn't mean it that John Cena has to
appear even a peer.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
On it, let alone being the main event.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
So the problem is though, it's just John Cena hasn't
been up to much since WrestleMania. Like Our True Stuff
was like a fun little detour, and I did love
Ron Sena.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
That was kind of fun. But it's still just the
character Johnsena is playing right now just not that believable.
I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Like he still comes out with the colorful shirts. He
had his Tampa Buccaneers themed attire in Tampa, the Creamsickle.
He's like, you hate wrestling, but you're pandering with your merchandise, Like,
please buy my merchandise. Buccaneers fans. You like this team, right,
Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans and the boys. So it's that's
it's it's it's clashing for me, Like it doesn't make
(17:28):
any sense. He's this bad guy, but it's still trying
to get you to sell merch by pandering.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
With the teams, the football teams, throw back colors. I
just it just doesn't work.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
The thing was fine, and then now we're excited another
shirt too, it's like, hey, like, I have another shirt.
Speaker 1 (17:46):
This guy's wearing it right with him saluting on the shirt. Again,
I did think that was funny. But John Cena's merch
still has him saluting on it, and it's like, yeah,
that's a noble thing to do, I know, right, Like
what are we doing here? But yeah, so maybe that's
part of it. But elsewhere Saturday Nights main event, Uh,
Bronson Reid is back and he's teaming up with an.
Speaker 2 (18:08):
Old foe and Seth Rollins.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Oh wait, so we gotta I don't know who he
is not officially called the Dangerous Alliance, but we could
not be called it somewhat of a dangerous Alliance with
because Paul Hayman is running it with now Seth Rollins,
bron Breaker and Bronson Reid.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
How do you feel about that?
Speaker 3 (18:27):
I'm down with it. I'm down with it. I thought
Bronson Reid like I knew it was Bronson right away
when he came out, and I was just like okay,
like I could's And once he like looked in the ring,
I was like, oh, because Hayman, you look at I
pay attention to Hayman more than some of the other characters.
When he's on screen, because he kind of tells you
(18:48):
the story without being like the center. So he's like jovial,
you know the Brons like, oh, okay, Hayman has Bronson Reid,
you know, like he he got him, and so I expected, well,
once you know, he got in the ring, he was
staring at him. Brown Breaker Seth was behind him, and
I kind of was like, I see where this is going.
(19:10):
And I didn't hate it, like I didn't care that.
I was like, okay, like you could tell the story
that Rollin's you know, made good with Broughdson Reid or
paid them off or something down the road. So I mean,
like that that works in wrestling. You know, you don't
need to be like, oh, like these guys hated each other.
What change should be like, oh, like we talked and
(19:30):
we're good paying them off, you know, like that's all
you really need to further a story like that and
this group.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
And it makes sense for Bronston Red since he was
already a villain to like he would take a payoff
or something like that and it would be a baby
face going to the opposite way. He's already a heel turns
double heel kind of deal Dominic did.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
Last ye, yeah, heel again, and you know what, I
thought he was gonna like keep doing the splash on Punk.
I think Punk was like that, I'll take one. I'm
not know doing the what what do you give Seth
like five, five or six of them? And I thought
like maybe we would see that. But then I was like, oh,
if he's doing at the Punk like, Punk's probably like nah,
(20:09):
like I don't want to risk anything just the case,
you know, doesn't want Punk to get hurt. But uh yeah,
I thought that was cool. I I really hope they
use the Dangerous Alliance name at some point, uh, you know,
because they don't have a name yet, right, I don't
know that like they should get a name, like I mean,
there should be a name hopefully comes soon and it's
(20:31):
Dangerous Alliance. Ask if not, you know, just Dangerous Alliance again,
like I don't know, Like yeah, why not when they'll
do the Dangerous Alliance Express or anything like that.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
We don't need Alliance Express. We don't have to make
it express everything. It doesn't have to be express.
Speaker 3 (20:47):
And if he means the Mastermind, why not just be
like this is my new danger You know, you don't
even need new one there, but because it's been like
you don't.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Want to you know, you also don't want it to
be like New Midnight Express needed Yeah, New Black that
wasn't good.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
The dude just Dangerus Alliance. That's it.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
I'm down with it, and you know, hopefully Becky at
some point like she'll join, Like I don't know, like
it would be great. It would be great if if
that were to happen, And uh, that's what I'm you know,
it kind of been the last few weeks. I'm like,
all right, all right, all right, and that kind of
put put some juice back into you know, you know,
that's like, you know, I'm I'm here for it, and uh,
(21:29):
you know Punkin Sammy, Well they get somebody else. You know,
it'd be interesting to see if that happens. So will it.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Be We'll see, we'll see moving forward. Busy Wrestling Weekend.
By the way, we've got Battleground tonight and next c
and we also got a e W double or nothing.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
Man.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
This show doesn't feel like it has the juice that
it used to, but it's got a big main event.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
It does.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
It's got will Ospray versus Adam Page with the winner
winning your Own Hard Cup and challenging for the world
title at all In Texas.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
Who you got there, Let's let's talk about that.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
Look what who you got winning the final of the
men's own Hard Cup final, cause the women's final it's
also happening on the show.
Speaker 3 (22:09):
I'm not gonna lie. I love that being the main event,
you know, like I don't need a world title, you
know there or.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
Even anarchy and Arena is not gonna do it for me.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
Like, I love that that's the main event. And but
I'm gonna go, Like I know, I think it's gonna
be ospre because I think I don't necessarily know if
he'll be the champion will again to all In, but
I do think, uh, he is their best wrestler and
I think he again could possibly be the best wrestler
(22:42):
in the world right now. And uh he's he's the guy.
I think I think they should crown him as soon
as possible. Really, like, uh, you know, I thought it
was Swerve too, and you know they wound up not
doing that. But if you're gonna do the Swerve Hangman
team at some point, then I think the logical thing
it would be, uh, you know, Osprey to be pushing
(23:06):
the main event scene hopefully win the title at All In,
but I don't know if that's gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (23:12):
I think he will. We can't. We can't go past
All In with Mox being a chance.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
We just can't.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
We just can't do it.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Who do you have one in the Women's Own Hard
Cup final, Jamie Hater or Mercedes Monette.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
It's gonna be hard for me to pick up against Mercedes.
I mean, like, until she loses, I'm just gonna pick her.
So I think she'll do it. And I although I
could see like this particular match being the one she loses,
but I'm just not I'm not there.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
I agree.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
I feel like if you're aw I like Jamie Hayter
a lot. I think she is worthy of being in
this spot and worthy of being in future main events
going forward. But if you're doing all In and you
got that's your biggest show, you know, stadium show, and
you got this big money, no pun intended player in
Mercedes Monet, put her against your biggest star and your
(24:04):
biggest female star a Tony Storm, your most popular female star,
and let's have the two biggest names in the division.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
Go at it champion versus champion. Why wouldn't you do it?
Speaker 1 (24:13):
If you want to sell a couple more tickets, this
is the match you do. Jamie Hater would be cool
to putting that spot against Tony Storm. That'd be a
great match. I feel like, didn't Jamie Hater beat Tony
Storm for the title at one point? Unless I am misremembering,
But when Jamie Hater won the title before she got hurt,
I feel like she beat Tony Storm for it.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
Let me double check that.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
But again, either way, I still think having Mercedes be
the person to challenge Tony Storm at all, and just
from a name standpoint.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
I feel like they need she did.
Speaker 1 (24:47):
Okay, so there's a built in story there where Jamie
Hater could pretty much full circle it and beat Tony
Storm again to be gain the title, which I think
aw could very well do. I would not be surprised
to the if they did that. But I feel like
from a marketing standpoint, just from a big name standpoint,
you're paying Mercedes Moaning all that money, you might as
well put her in the biggest match on the biggest show,
(25:08):
right right, right, go ahead? No, I'm saying, yeah, Okay, Well,
there's other matches undouble on nothing obviously, but we don't
really feel like you haven't it.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
I don't know about you. I don't feel like this. No.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
No.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
Speaking of big shows, stadium shows, there was one scheduled
next year and everyone was very, very excited about it.
WW even announced it publicly publicly with The Rock with
Dwyane that WWE was going to host WrestleMania forty two
in New Orleans, Louisiana next year. Super Dome, Bourbon Street,
(25:48):
Frenchman Street, Chargo, Oysters, Bignet's, all the stuff is. Oh man,
it's fantastic. Right announced it publicly. Everybody was happy. It's
been a couple of years since they've been twenty eight teams.
The last time they was this, This would have been
eight years since. You can go back every decade as
far as I'm concerned. So people were like, yeah, let's
do it. I saw the social media reaction. Hell, yes,
(26:10):
New Orleans, let's do it. And it just had the
Super Bowl. It makes sense, go back twenty twenty six.
And then the report dropped this past week, terrible news, terrible,
terrible news coming out of Wressell Nomics saying that apparently
WW has moved WrestleMania out of New Orleans next year.
(26:31):
And this is coming from a local organization, is where
Wrestlenomics is attributing their initial report that it will not
take place in New Orleans next year, even though it
was announced on national television that that's where that's gonna happen.
But do we get a report from nola dot com
(26:53):
saying that not only is the show not standing in
New Orleans, so they confirmed the wrestle Nomics report, they're
reporting that it's going to be in Vegas again the
next year. They're going to run it back in Las
Vegas next year, which was I think terrible news.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
Unless you're.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Five again, what are we doing?
Speaker 2 (27:20):
Man? That sucks?
Speaker 1 (27:23):
I mean, look ww, I'm sure they're like, look, where
can we let's make some Look, this is according to
a report to It has not been announced the Vegas
part of it. I think any of this has been
announced officially by WWE. But if this reporting is to
be believed, uh ww, I guess it's looking to maximize
profits in for WrestleMania and they I'm sure they sold
(27:45):
made a lot of money with not only selling tickets,
but like the premium experiences that they sold not just
around the show, but during the show where they put
people on the stage. They had people in the stage.
I'm sure there's a lot of other premium experiences that
they could offer in Las Vegas that they can't offer
in other cities simply because they're not Las Vegas.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
So even though New Orleans.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
For me, great city, love it, it's for a person
like me, normal person, not s filthy rich Las Vegas different.
So I don't know, man, if this is true, it's
it's kind of wild. We've never seen as far as
I know, we've never seen WW changed cities. We've seen
them change venues, which happened in WrestleMania seven, where they
(28:27):
initially announced it's going to be in the Los Angeles Coliseum.
That did not happen. They downscaled it to the La
Sports Arenas, still in Los Angeles, but different venue. This
is a totally different part of the country. This is weird, right.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
I'd be cool if they went to Caesar's Palace again
and recreated the coliseum, but they're not gonna do that.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
They're not going to do that, no way.
Speaker 3 (28:53):
Yeah, I mean, it is weird, especially after they announced
it and all that and I don't know what. I
don't even think anything was confirmed for twenty twenty seven yet,
so unless no is it, maybe I might be thinking
about SummerSlam. But it's like, okay, why not just go
back at twenty twenty seven, you know, like to do
that to New Orleans, like a city that you've already
(29:15):
had WrestleMania in twice? Like what, yeah, what's at least twice? Right?
Speaker 1 (29:21):
It's four, yeah, twenty fourteen and twenty eighteen. So but
here's here's a quote from the story real quick. I
forgot to read this, but it says WWN form New
Orleans Sports and Tourism officials on Thursday, but they no
longer plan to bring the event to the city, according
to Walt Ledger, head of the New Orleans and Company
Accord head of New Orleans and Co. So got to
read the sentence right here. Ww said that they want
(29:44):
to build on other events scheduled for New Orleans and
might bring WrestleMania to.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
The city in some future year.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
He added, quote, we worked with them for the last
several days try to identify some future dates and future
events to bring to the city. Ledger said, WrestleMania is
the biggest professional event bla blah blah. And apparently other
reports said that they're bringing money in a Bank to
New Orleans next year, not WrestleMania, which is like.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
She even posted a video like with the he had
the you know, the whole motif that Do Orleans motif
behind him with the money in the Bank logo. So
it's like, wow, yeah, I read somebody had a funny tweet.
I don't remember who it was. I apologize, but it
was like, hey, uh, to whatever NFL town, we're gonna
(30:29):
take away your super Bowl. But here's a divisional playoff game.
That's how it feels.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
You know, it's a divisional not even a championship game. No,
a divisional playoff game is crazy. That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
But pretty much that's what happened.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
According to nola dot Com, the WWE went to New Orleans,
It's like, no, Wow, that's kind of nuts.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
I don't know, like that practice, like, can you do that?
Speaker 1 (30:57):
Can you do you sign paperwork to say this is
what we're doing it? I guess you have to write.
Maybe they have the right to.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
I can definitely see like w W reserves the right
to until this date to pull out or whatever. Maybe
the date was coming up where there maybe in June
or something they had to decide, like maybe it's one
of those things in the contract language or whatever. But
I just think it's lame. You know, It's not like
New Orleans as a bad host city, Like what if
(31:29):
you're going to a city for the first time, or
maybe if you're going overseas, like I could be like, okay,
Like I guess it's they can't plan well in advance enough.
But still it was crappy either way, no matter where
you are, no matter where it's booked, to pull something
like that.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Yeah, it's it's really weird.
Speaker 1 (31:49):
It's really unusual for a lot of places in the
entertainment industry. You don't announce big events like this and
then pull out like two months later for really apparently
no real reason neither. Like it doesn't seem like New
Orleans had some issues and they w W is like
we gotta we gotta go elsewhere. It seems like, according
(32:09):
to the reporting, that it's w w's decision to go elsewhere,
and we don't know where elsewhere is yet. According to
Nola dot Com, it's uh Las Vegas. Shout out to
dot com, though I met some people at Norla dot
com from Norma dot com at the Super Bowl. They
should they were very nice, but but yeah, no no
official reporting as we're nore's official reporting, but no official
(32:32):
word on where this show is going to be then
next year if it's not New Orleans, but.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
It would be cool if it was Philly again.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
We wouldn't be complaining. I guess it's good, a good job.
But they're probably never coming back here.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
Yeah, until we have a dome, they're not probably, They're right,
they're probably.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
They're probably never coming back. We we man, we got lucky.
We got a good show too, so we should be
we should be very thankful that we.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
I think opportunity.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
We're obviously going to have a dome soon at some point,
and that's when you think something to come.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
Back, we'll see.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
I mean, that's that's a whole different issue. That's a
whole separate issue because.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
What it just makes sense to me. I mean I
don't like it, but if you're good, if you're like going,
if you own the building or whatever, and you're gonna
make money, uh not just hosting Eagles games or even
I don't necessarily know about the Phillies if they would
do it.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
But I mean they host concerts though, more concerts at
more times of the year exactly because they do summer concerts.
They do they'll do a tailor swift that they'll do.
They do the Kendrick, the Kendrick and Sissa and Metallica
was there, so weather it's nice they're hosting concerts and
events all the time.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
With the link.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
I can speak to that personally because I have to
post about it. When I worked for the Eagles, they
don't post on the Lincoln Financial Fields social accounts, and
I remember we used to post about there was a
was a the band Ramstein Ramstein. Yeah, I remember posting
about that Monster Jam. And they've only increased that over
the years. It's not like the number is going down.
(34:04):
Numbers going up, I feel like between concerts and soccer
matches and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
So but yeah, it's this is strange.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
I don't know if they're going back to Vegas, we'll see,
but it's just at the end of the day, what
I really hope is that the ticket prices aren't like
what they were this year. I'm sure ww Still, they
did make a ton of money off it, and they
got a bunch of people in the building for whether
those giveaways or decrease pricing at the last minute, who knows,
But man, I don't know. It's a Is WW premium
(34:38):
enough to keep this up?
Speaker 2 (34:40):
I don't know. We'll see, Yeah, we'll see.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
But that's the annoying part where it's like, okay, when
well they eventually reached that plateau, like, well, they start
dropping prices, so regular fans kind of then stuff again.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
Well, we'll see, we'll see.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Speaking of WW shows, and bounced more shows yesterday during
a Saturday Night's main event, and that in Atlanta in July,
they're gonna be running three shows back to back to back.
They're gonna do Great American Bash from NXT. They're gonna
do a Saturday Nights main event, and they're bringing back,
for the first time in Ages Evolution, the all women's
(35:19):
pay per view.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
So that's big deal.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
And the thing is, you know, this is happening, and
it's a big deal, and for one, the big deal
for the women to.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
Have their own show.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
They should do this every year, not just once when
they have Round de Rowsey, but every year, maybe even
more of them.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
Why not?
Speaker 1 (35:35):
But the interesting thing is, and I did not know
this until we started doing you know, some prep for
the Today's show is that Atlanta is going to be
busy that week, and for one, there's also the same
weekend as all In Texas. So for those who don't know,
I think all In this July.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
Twelfth might correct. Yeah, So.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
That's the thing that I'm sure AW fans are worried about,
and all In will be going up against Saturday Night's
main event that is also on July twelfth. July thirteenth
is Evolution. No date yet for Great American Bash. I
don't think just Evolution in Saturday Night's main event, but
also going on in Atlanta that week is four not one,
(36:16):
four Beyonce concerts at the Mercedes Benz Stadium there in Atlanta,
where the Falcons play July tenth, eleventh, thirteenth, and fourteenth. Whoa,
this is gonna be a busy weekend in Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
I mean the audience is I don't know how much
they overlap, and I feel like the audience that will
overlap they're choosing Beyonce. Some people might go off four nights.
It's like Beyonce or Saturday Night's main event. I'd go
to Evolution before I go to Saturday Nights Main Event.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
Why it feels like, you know, the Beyonce's wrestling weekend
and W's trying to bite off like the way I mean,
other wrestling companies go wherever WrestleMania is, don't.
Speaker 1 (37:08):
I don't know if it's going to work again. I
don't know how much of the audiences overlap. And also,
Beyonce tickets ain't cheap, Like, if you spend your money
on Beyonce tickets, that's probably what you're doing that weekend.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
You're not like, oh, there's a wrestling show too.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
Oh matter how close it is, doesn't matter if it's
right across the street, I'll stay over here.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
I'm gonna hop over to Saturday Nights main Event because
that's that's actually Saturday Nights Main Event is on the
one day of the week that Beyonce is not doing
a concert. It's on the twelfth, so she's taking a
night off. So you know, if you're there for all
four days, you know he's just like, oh, let me
pop over there. That's probably not gonna happen, but it might.
Speaker 2 (37:42):
It might be one or two people do that. I
don't know.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
But yeah, that's the latest current day nonsense in pro wrestling.
But are you ready to dive deep into Judgment Day
from two thousand and one.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
Let's do it. Got the day's the fun of I'm concerned.
It's a payment. Truth will be lies, lies will be true.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
You can't be tell me lost a trouble light to me?
Playing are the same things we hit the road, the
help in Prince, Oh my god, se.
Speaker 5 (38:26):
Me with do sys but to finished the job we
started asks.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
To you just stop star called Steve austin.
Speaker 4 (38:36):
An I've said that's sing.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
And that was dark and now our secul represents w
W have to Judgment Day.
Speaker 1 (39:00):
Oh my god, that was a dark opening, just the
guys screaming a Judgment Day is coming, watch out, look out.
But this is Judgment Day in two thousand and one,
which took place on May twentieth, two thousand and one.
The show emanated from the Arco Arena as was known
(39:21):
back then in Sacramento, California. Speaking of Sacramento, we're just
talking about the the athletics at the Sacramento Athletics or
the Oakland Athletics. The athletics, but this building Arco Arena
at the time was the home of the Sacramento Kings
of the NBA. It was once known as the smallest
and one of the loudest buildings in the NBA, but
(39:44):
now it is no more, as the Kings moved to
the Golden One Center in twenty sixteen. Currently, for those
if you're interested, the site is being planned for a
hospital and a medical school run by California North State
University that will lost a billion dollars one billion, and
right next to that it's supposed to be a two
(40:04):
hundred unit apartment complex. All of that according to the
Sacramento b But back in two thousand and one, the
building was still up and running and it was home
to one of the NBA's most exciting teams and the
Sacramento Kings. I don't know if you remember back in.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
Those days, the Kings Chris Weber and Kadi Turkulou.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
And Mike Big Baby Yeah Jay, Jason Williams and Vladi Diva,
Doug Christy, who else, pages Yakovic, Oh.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
My, the biggest threat to the Lakers dynasty at one.
Speaker 1 (40:34):
Hundred and the more fun team to watch. By the way,
even though the Lakers were probably.
Speaker 3 (40:39):
Remember people like this is the real NBA Finals because
the East was never going to.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
Beat the Lakers, probably, But the week prior to this one,
in two thousand and one, the Kings actually got swept
by the Lakers in the second round of the NBA
playoffs if you remember correctly. Though, in two thousand and one,
the Lakers didn't lose a game in the postseason until
Game one of the NBA Finals.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
I remember that against.
Speaker 3 (41:02):
Who who is that? Who is that? The Syracuse Nationals.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
Team formerly known as the Syracuse Nationals. But at that
point and still to this day, no one asked the
Philadelphia seventy six ers. Unfortunately for the seventy sixes, that's true.
Unfortunately for the seventy six ers, that was the only
loss of the Lakers stuff for that postseason, as they
won the second straight NBA.
Speaker 3 (41:26):
They had a chance to I don't remember if it
was Game two or three. If they just hit their
free throws, they would have won that game to win.
I don't know if they'd go yeah, I guess go
up to to one. I think it was a home game,
so yeah, they were the close game in Philly too,
and I was like so aggravated, man, because everybody was
sixered up. My mom had a Sixers flag on our car. Man,
(41:48):
we were sixered up. Man. Everybody there, So if.
Speaker 2 (41:52):
You had a car in Philly at that point, you
probably had a Six's flag on. I remember seeing.
Speaker 1 (41:56):
It's funny you say that I remember seeing so many
of those. Of all things that you remember is the
flags on the car during like when the Eagles win
the NFCY Championship, that like.
Speaker 2 (42:07):
Not long before that.
Speaker 1 (42:08):
This, No, oh, I guess after this because those two
thousand and one season, so like the next year the
Eagles in the NFCY Championship against the Rams, flags in
the cars, you better believe it. And the Eagles lost
the NCY Championship unfortunately. But but yeah, that's funny thing
that I remember, because again, what a fun time this was.
Despite the Sixers losing. This was a fun time and
(42:30):
now all our lives here in Philly. The Sixers going
to the finals the last time they've been to the
conference finals too, which is just kind of wild to
think about.
Speaker 3 (42:38):
And again that playoff run, like the seven games against Toronto,
the Vince Carter at the end of the game.
Speaker 1 (42:45):
Vince Carter dropping like forty after he graduated the same day,
right right, graduated from North Carolina and came back for
Game seven and almost.
Speaker 2 (42:53):
Won this series.
Speaker 3 (42:55):
I taped the I taped these games like I didn't
tape anything other than wrestling at the time. Yet I
take the Sixers games. I wound up tape it over them, unfortunately.
But you know, I take game seven Constronto, take Game
seven against Milwaukee. Believe that's what Ison went off as well.
Speaker 1 (43:11):
You know it's crazy that game seven, May twentieth, two
thousand and one, six Ers win eighty eight eighty seven
the same day as Judgment Day. Vince Carter, by the way,
went what do you do? Oh he only had twenty?
I thought he had more than I thought. He went
off in this game he had six to eighteen.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
Oh that was the Toronto series, not the Bucks.
Speaker 1 (43:30):
Yeah, this is Toronto series. Yeah, not the Bucks series.
Aid twenty only twenty one in this game too.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
I feel like, was it this series where AI had
like back to back by forty point games something.
Speaker 3 (43:38):
Like I remember first out of the Bucks series. I
just remember Game seven, like, yeah, I went on twenty
did he did the ear to the crowd and everything
in Philly? Yeah? I was like I was sixer up man.
Speaker 2 (43:48):
Fun times in two thousand and one. But in wrestling, if.
Speaker 3 (43:54):
Only the Sixers had a two man power trip, if
only set it just ai.
Speaker 2 (43:59):
If only Oh back to the NBA real quick.
Speaker 1 (44:01):
The Lakers won it all again the next year, but
on their way to doing it, beat the Kings in
seven games and probably the most controversial Western Conference Finals
in history.
Speaker 2 (44:09):
Look it up.
Speaker 1 (44:09):
The officials were literally helping the Lakers win, So go
look it up if you're not familiar. But two thousand
and one wrestling, we are in the middle of that
two man power trip, a short lived two man power trip.
Speaker 2 (44:22):
They might not be great for society, but they could
be great for pro wrestling. Okay, we thought we.
Speaker 1 (44:27):
Were going to get another one this year with The
Rock and John Cena, but The Rock hasn't been around
since February except on Pat McAfee and he was.
Speaker 3 (44:36):
Like, ah, in February first, so it's really January?
Speaker 2 (44:41):
Yeah exactly?
Speaker 3 (44:42):
Oh no, No, that was March first. Wasn't it an
elimination chamber? So no, that was February, I thought, No,
February February fast. They had elimination chamber March first, so
it technically would have been February if February had more
than twenty eight days.
Speaker 2 (44:57):
Pretty much it was February thirtieth. You want to be.
Speaker 1 (45:03):
But while you know that one may have had potential
that we won't get to see the one we actually got.
The Witness in two thousand and one was kind of weird, right,
that's a bit, And that's partially because half of the
two man Power Trip was grossly miscast, right, and that person,
(45:25):
of course, with Steve Austin, who is fresh off and
ill advised He'll turn the WrestleMania, that almost immediately impacted
the tenor of the product and how the fans felt
about it. We've covered it in the past, but it
still remains to me Post WrestleMania in two thousand and
one is still one of.
Speaker 2 (45:42):
The strangest years in WWE.
Speaker 1 (45:45):
And it really did feel like once Austin's He'll Turn
and the Alliance angle was over, that WWF, I should say,
back then was like kind of back to normal, Like,
oh okay, finally that dark cloud has been lifted, Let's
get back to the rest of the get back to
the real wrestling.
Speaker 3 (46:01):
It wasn't even like at this time, I can't blame
the WCW not existing. Uh for that change in you know,
mood of the fan, it was just like what are
we doing here? Like you won the Warriors, so wait?
Why a stone cold? Like I felt like they were
booking things just because they could, because they had no competition,
(46:22):
so like, it doesn't matter what we do, We're gonna
do whatever we want. And that was just so such
a bad like strategy to have at this point. Yeah,
like I was out on the two man power Chair,
but I remember not watching much during this time period.
I mean I not as much. What I wouldn't call
it a sabbatical, but I just was not into it
(46:44):
at all. Maybe I was like upset wsw folded and
even though like I secretly was pulling for w WF
the entire time they were against each other, but at
this point I was like, oh man, this it's like
be careful what you wish for type thing, and it's like, uh,
this isn't hitting the mark for me.
Speaker 1 (47:04):
Of course, like I said earlier, this was a Patreon request,
So let's get into our patroot for this week to
give brother Chris Johnson.
Speaker 2 (47:10):
He's gonna make his cameo he on the show. So
Chris take it away, It's going on.
Speaker 6 (47:16):
The street, shoots your boy Chris Johnson back and gain
giving you my thoughts on the deep dive for Judgment
Day two thousand, when you guys are about to get
into My match of the night was the two out
of three falls match between Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle,
with ben Wah winning the first fall with the angle slam.
Second fall the submissions only was counter on counter on
counter for wrestling in submissions. Ben Waugh had a modified
(47:36):
water Waltz jerk on Angle that looked pretty sick. Angle
won the second fall with the angle log and the
third fall and became a ladder match for the gold medals.
You had Angle and Benoit both taking spills off the ladder.
Angle suplexing Benoit onto the ladder was a nasty spot
edging Christian coming out at the end of the match,
interfering keeping ben Waugh from climbing the ladder. Kurt Angle
(47:57):
winning and getting his medals back. Another consideration for actually
the night for me was I'd probably have to go
with the chain match for the Intercontinental title between Triple
H and Caine. Physical from the get go, Triple H
turting Kane's left arm that had been previously broken with
the chair and slamming it into the steps and what
have you. Triple H busted open during the match after
Kane pulled yanked on the chain and pulled Triple H's
(48:19):
into the post while he was holding the chair, causing
to bleed. With this papercrew being titled entitled being Judging Day,
there was a part in the match where Triple H
looked like he was being I guess hung with a
chain Kane pulling up on it. Not really great look
in hindsight. Kan hit a pretty wicked choke slam on
Triple H towards the end of the match with Austin
Stone Coast Boston coming out and accident landing Triple H
(48:40):
with the chair and Kan gets the penn and winning
the Intercontinental title. Thought that was a really, really good match.
My worst match of the night was probably Rakishi and
William Reegle wasn't really much this match. It was short,
Regal got the win. Not much to ride home about
hitting Jim on this show. For me, I'd have to
go with China and Leader for the women's title. In
my opinion, this was one of the best women's match
during this area WWA era of WWF, with China displaying
(49:03):
her power early on, leaded countering with an armbreaker after
China picked her head up off the camps for two.
There was a point in the match where there was
a wardrobe malfunction for China and the crowd was going
but Nanna, as Pat Patterson would say, leaded countering China's
power bomb the first time with the hurrican Rono. China
ended up winning the match with the second power bomb,
retaining the title. Like I said, this was my hitting
gym on the show. I thought this was a really
(49:23):
really good match, one of the best women's matches of
this era the I guess my second hittingen gym on
the show would be the Hardcore title match Triple Threat
hard with Big Show testing Rhino fighting all through the arena,
Rhino with the gore spot at the end into the
trash can of the Big Show winning the match. Random
thoughts from the show. The main event, the Austin Undertaker
match No holds part for the title was a good match.
(49:44):
Wasn't one of their better matches, I guess in my
opinion from previous matches they've had Caine coming out at
the end at the triple a cheating Undertaker with the
sledgehammer to get the win, Like, why would his pyro
and music hit? That made no sense? I thought that
was a little weird, but still was a good match.
The tag team Turm one Ma was a good match
as well, with Ben Wah and Jericho getting the win
facing Edging Christian at the end. That was fantastic that
(50:07):
match between those two at the end. And let's see
my favorite non wrestling moment was the match of the
night was Regal. I guess looked like he was dry
heaving after getting the stink face from Rakishi, like he
was so called and disgusted. Another random thought I had
is from the opening video package was like a homeless wizard,
I guess talking about Judgment Dane all this other stuff.
And this paper view was sponsored by RC col of

Shooters Radio, and you can be just like him, make
a cameo here and chat it up with this for
a little bit about the show. It doesn't have to
be a wrestling show. It could be a movie. We

Patreon re quest, but we're gonna do a movie coming up.
It's gonna be iron Claw. So being a lookout, we
do other things besides just wrestling shows. So again, Patreon
(51:31):
dot com slash Shooters Radio. Let's get into the show,
shall we. As you heard Chris go through his categories
for the for the Deep Dive, and we do the
same obviously, we have our match at the night, we
have our worst match at the night, the top non
wrestling happening, the worst non wrestling happening, any hidden gems
in or out of the ring, and of course we
(51:53):
wrap it up with random thoughts. Nick, let's start with you.
What was your match of the night from Judgment Day
to thousand and one.
Speaker 3 (52:02):
I don't know, it was kind of tough for me,
but I'll I'll go with the easy answer. Kurdan Angle
versus Chris Mainoi two out of three falls match. I
thought Angle was a funny character here, still approaching edging
Christian before the match, that them kind of looking at
him weird, like we're talking about our tag team match, man,
(52:24):
Like what are you doing here? And then for them
just to help him at the end, I thought was
kind of funny, like.
Speaker 2 (52:31):
They helped them so they could shut him up so
he can complaining.
Speaker 3 (52:35):
All for kurd Angles medals who christmin Wa apparently just
loved to put in his pants. Yeah, just weird character
arc for ben while here. But yeah, it was strange,
Like I just I was like, why were you cheering that? Like,
I know it's funny to make fun of card angles,
battles or whatever, but like the pants. And then I
(52:57):
was a sophomore in high school, and even I thought,
I was like, okay, this is immature, man, like sophomore
in high.
Speaker 2 (53:04):
School, so at the very least it's immature.
Speaker 3 (53:07):
Yeah, it was like hern Angle Crispin blah man, like,
these guys are top athletes, man, they don't need this
dumb stuff. They would never do this in WCW, you.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
Know, like they weren't even around that guy. They weren't
even around unfortunately. But uh, the match you're referring to
is also my match with the Night Kurt Angle and
Chris Pinoy's in two out of three falls, first fall,
which is a normal match. Second fall, Oh, pinfalls only. Okay,
I thought it was pinfalls into mission, but pin falls only.
(53:38):
But then the second fall, submissions only, and if there
was to be a third fall, if it was necessary,
it was a ladder match for Kurt Angle's gold medals.
Those are the object that would be hanging over the
ring because Benoit's committed larceny and took kurt Angles gold
medals and then put them down his pants.
Speaker 2 (53:58):
As Nick alluded to, dude, that bad man.
Speaker 3 (54:01):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (54:01):
And then Angle did get him back at one point,
but he had to reach down ben Was's pants to
do so, and he was like, oh no, I don't
want to do.
Speaker 2 (54:07):
This, and then it gets them. He's like, yay, I
got them, and he kissed him.
Speaker 3 (54:11):
Which is like, Kurt, why is Ben while wrestling with
metals in his pants?
Speaker 2 (54:15):
It doesn't feel like that's a comfortable thing to do.
Speaker 7 (54:19):
Now.
Speaker 2 (54:19):
I wouldn't want that to be down there. That's not
a cup. It doesn't work that way.
Speaker 1 (54:25):
But funnily enough, Ben bennoy To didn't put Kernanngle in
a cross face and took them right back. So and
then at one point, and this is all in the
video package. By the way, Kurt Angle cuts a promo
and the line of he says, my poor gold medals
are resting comfortably against your agendas, resting comfortably.
Speaker 2 (54:47):
That's a crazy line.
Speaker 3 (54:48):
This is like nobody in wrestling was doing promos like that.
Speaker 2 (54:52):
You know.
Speaker 3 (54:52):
That's why Kurt was so good. So silly, like he
gave the audience the father father father f O D
D E R to laugh at him and it was
like and he just played dumb and it was great.
I love that part.
Speaker 2 (55:08):
Yeah, the matches up. It was was really well done.
Speaker 7 (55:11):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (55:11):
The first fall went pretty quick.
Speaker 4 (55:13):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (55:13):
Angle went for ahead butt, he missed.
Speaker 3 (55:15):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (55:16):
Benoi followed it up with an Angle slam and then
got to win with kurd Angle's on finishing move, which
is funny.
Speaker 3 (55:21):
Because like at a normal match, Kernagle would have kicked out,
but because it's two out of three falls, we're gonna up,
you gotta you gotta lose here, we're done. It's like, oh,
you gotta lose. Kernagle doesn't lose that quick, so this
is it's just weird worries. Two out of three falls.
Speaker 1 (55:35):
The second fall was like a normal match, except you know,
submission only.
Speaker 7 (55:39):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (55:39):
Benoy broke out a lion Tamer at one point, which
is like foreshadowing foreshadowing. Uh, it was just it was
just good wrestling. Angle won it with an ankle lock,
and then we go to the ladder match the third
and final fall.
Speaker 2 (55:50):
You knew we'd get here.
Speaker 3 (55:51):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (55:53):
At one point, ben Will put the title with the
ladder on top of Angle and began to climb, but Angle.
Speaker 2 (55:57):
Tipped it over, which was from the which I thought
was pretty clever.
Speaker 1 (56:02):
Benoit locked in a cross face, but edgend Christian came
out to help the friend Kurt Angle, and while they
tied up Benoit, Kurt Angle climbed the ladder and grabbed
the medals to win the match and retrieve his rightfully
won and rightfully earned gold medals. And of course, like
you said, we asked him. Kurt Angle asked edgend Christian
earlier for the help they obliged, And it's nice to
(56:24):
have friends, right Benoit apparently didn't have any. But yeah,
that was also my match of the night. You're having
an honorable mention here because I do uh not really
I did, so. This was a tough show to kind
of parse out into the categories. But I think I'm
gonna go as far as the honorable mention. It's not
(56:46):
going to be the main event. It's gonna be the
Intercontinental Championship match, which was a chain match Kane versus
Triple A. Triple As defending against Kane. I thought this
was a fun, semi main event.
Speaker 3 (56:58):
Match into it. Was it the longest match of the night.
Speaker 2 (57:03):
No, technically I think the tag team Turmoil might.
Speaker 3 (57:06):
Yeah, yeah, twenty five minutes. Oh no, the Triple H
match was only twelve minutes. And twenty four seconds, and.
Speaker 2 (57:12):
That's probably why I liked it so much. That's probably
why I liked it so much.
Speaker 1 (57:19):
Kine brought his own chain to a chain match, which is,
you know, smart, I guess you bring your own. Triple
A did not, and he was not having It's like,
you gotta put the chain down. I'm not fighting him
without until he puts the chain down. Eventually, Kine does,
and Triple H cheats and somehow manages to get the
chain connected to Caine's broken arm, because that's he came
into this match with a broken on the Steve Auston
(57:41):
and Triple As had been breaking week after week apparently,
and Kane just kept coming back like a zombie. Didn't
take time off, but they did some fun unique stuff
you know when when they would because it's like a
strap match, but it's sept with a strap as a
chain and not it's not a doll collar, but they're
tied around the wrist that connected around the wrist. So
at one point Kane is in the ring and he
(58:02):
pulls Triple H into the ring post whilst Triple A
is trying to bring a chair into the ring, so
he goes flying into the ring post with the chair
and it smacks him in the face. So I thought
that was kind of clever. He's bleeding everywhere.
Speaker 2 (58:15):
Yeah, I thought that was a good spot.
Speaker 1 (58:16):
Well well quark quark wrap, but well done, well well executed,
I should say at one point Steve Austin again, it's
nice to have friends, but it's not nice to have
friends when they mess it up for you. And that's
what Steve Austin did here when he comes out to
try to hit Kane in the head with the chair,
but he hit triple HS instead and Kane gets the
pen and wins the Intercontinental Championship and the fans go crazy.
So I thought that was fun. Yeah, a nice little
(58:40):
moment on that show. That was our best match of
the night. But Nick, what was your worst match of
the night from Judgment Day two thousand and one.
Speaker 3 (58:48):
I mean, like, I didn't love the opener, but but
I hated the main event ending, and that is my
worst match in the night. Because the Undertaker and Stone
Cold Steve Austin had some good matches against each other
(59:08):
in the WWF in nineteen ninety eight, in nineteen ninety nine,
two thousand and one, No, I'm like I don't know
what they're doing here. Why are they're facing each other.
I'm done with Snokelo Steve Wawston and the Undertaker. I
don't care that they're different characters. It's the same old
crap we've been watching for four years. At this time,
(59:31):
ww's over, so why are we still doing this crap?
And I didn't think the match was good. I don't
know if it's because the characters were different and just
the way they moved, Like I just a lot of
the stuff wasn't believable to me. And the ending of
the match made Stone Cold Steve Wawson look so bad
in this new character that he's been doing for like
(59:52):
two months at this point, or not even like a
month and a half maybe, And I just I hated
every single moment of it. I thought Rakeishi and Regal
would be my honorable mention for worst match of the night.
That was my worst match of the night up until
the main event, so that's my honorable mention. I just
thought it was crap, and I'll get into Rakishi later,
but my worst match of the night was the main
(01:00:14):
event because I just I thought it was crap.
Speaker 2 (01:00:19):
It was hard for me to put that somewhere. I
didn't think.
Speaker 1 (01:00:21):
I wasn't as low on as you were. I thought
it was fine for what it was. The ending was
a lot, but I don't know, that's just what they
were doing at that point.
Speaker 3 (01:00:30):
That's why I hated it. I think it's like, we'll
just do this because we don't have competition.
Speaker 1 (01:00:34):
It's like, oh, it wasn't It wasn't tremendous, but I
feel like I've seen where it just the ending was
bad because it made Kane look stupid. It made Kane
like he just didn't care enough about his brother and
to come out before his pirate went off. Like, bro,
you see this two got three people, it's three people
jumping on Undertaker, and it wasn't until the pirate went off.
(01:00:58):
The fire went off until Kine came out. And at
that point, the referee counting is counting to three. Like
smart on the wrestlers to actually keep fighting during the entrances.
They weren't like, oh my god, he's here and then
stop wrestling. They actually kept wrestling for once, but the referee,
of course, he just counted at.
Speaker 3 (01:01:15):
The one moment where they should have stopped. You know, Like,
I feel like fire just went off that specific ending
you would think is okay, Like I could buy them
just stopping the fight, because.
Speaker 2 (01:01:27):
At this time the referee counts and Kane's just he
was undertake. It didn't get heat. He just Kinge was
just too late to help his brother.
Speaker 4 (01:01:35):
Where were you?
Speaker 2 (01:01:36):
Triple A's got beat up earlier and was here before you.
Speaker 1 (01:01:39):
He was beaten and bloodied up, and yet somehow, what
were you doing taking pictures with the title.
Speaker 3 (01:01:44):
He's like, what you're doing?
Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
Kine a?
Speaker 3 (01:01:50):
Backstage's photo op? Right, he's got a.
Speaker 2 (01:01:52):
Point to the belt. You know IC champion guys put
this on the side of the truck. Huh, how about this?
This is going to be in a new matchup score
on Raw tomorrow. Huh when I have a match?
Speaker 3 (01:02:02):
Yeah, look at the photoshop the title anymore they did.
Speaker 1 (01:02:06):
For Triple H and he had both titles. It looked
like garbage. Just make them take a picture right there.
We had the photoshop at for he's right there, Ask
him take the picture. I don't know why they Why
did they do that? It looked bad all the time.
It looked even worse in two thousand and one, because
obviously it still looks bad if they do it when
(01:02:28):
they do it today. I think they still do it
at times, but it looked real bad with Triple Ac.
He's got two titles and he's.
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
Clearly not holding them. But Double Champ there but my
worst match of the night. It was tough. I didn't
have the main event. I honestly didn't put the main
event anywhere. It was just it was just there. I
was I had a kind of.
Speaker 1 (01:02:50):
Between a tie between the opener in the Hardcore title
match Hardcore title match.
Speaker 2 (01:02:57):
Liked it was fine, It just.
Speaker 3 (01:03:01):
It was event.
Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
The thing about the opener, it wasn't necessarily a bad match,
neither was a hardcore title But the thing about the
opener is that, like, where what did they do with Rakishi?
Speaker 3 (01:03:16):
Bro oh my god, we should have we should have
a separate category for just Rakishi for this show where
he was before this to this after this.
Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
People know I don't know if you you had to
have been there to know that.
Speaker 1 (01:03:31):
Like Rikishi was hell over in two thousand, super over
he won the Icy title. It felt like, oh, this
could be a springboard or something bigger because Rakeshi is
super over And it wasn't just amongst fans, like people
are non fans who knew who Rakish was simply because
of his big old ass. Like there are still fans
(01:03:53):
who remember those days of seeing RAKESHI give the sting face.
So it was like super over. He would dance. People
loved him, and then they turned him heal and then
he did it for the Rock who did it for
the people, and it just dogged him out when he
was a heel, and then when he turned him back babyface,
it's just the juice was gone.
Speaker 3 (01:04:13):
And now he's losingmore off screen.
Speaker 1 (01:04:18):
Been there, done that, and now he's losing in like
three or four minutes to William Regal. That no disrespect
to William Regal, but in an opening match and for nothing.
It wasn't even like a title on the line or.
Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
Legal.
Speaker 1 (01:04:31):
I don't even know I did he cheat. I don't
really remember if he cheated or not. It's just it's
just it's just.
Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
Like I don't remember if it was the turnbuckle thing
or something. But he beat him with his normal wrestling move,
So yeah, that's sure.
Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
She looked like dumb, and it's just like he wasn't
even on WrestleMania. People still love the sting face, but
like man, the best part of the match, honestly was
She's giving Regal distinct face and his face and Regal's
face after distinct phase was like he made that phase
look like he was so repulsed byers.
Speaker 2 (01:05:08):
Oh my god, that was the best part of the match.
Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
That's tough man, because again wherever Key she was like
a year prior, like May two thousand.
Speaker 2 (01:05:21):
Crazy rough. It's rough, real rough.
Speaker 1 (01:05:24):
But that's the worst matches. Other night, Let's go to
the top non wrestling happening, Nick, what do you have
here for your top non.
Speaker 3 (01:05:32):
Wrestling Either I forgot to put one or there was none.
I just looked that.
Speaker 2 (01:05:38):
Yeah, there wasn't. It's crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:05:40):
The hidden gem and the worst non wrestling happening is
pretty easy for me, like four three four random thoughts
the top non wrestling happening. It definitely wouldn't be any backstage. Well,
I guess I could see the edgind Christian backstage promo
was pretty entertaining.
Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
Yeah, especially when after they helped Kurt.
Speaker 3 (01:06:00):
Yeah, I'll put that there because that's you know, the
Edgend Christian were always like that was something I never
got tired of. Like for so many things that just
get old, especially when he watched as much wrestling as
I did, like every week, multiple times, not missing Like
the only time I don't watch is like doing a
(01:06:22):
commercial break, and I, you know, got to do something
that I come back right away. And even though I'm
taping these shows, like I just I need to see
it live, you know, I don't want to go back
and watch it on tape if I missed something. So yeah,
like edgend Christian Man never got tired of them never.
Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
That's fair. I don't blame you for that.
Speaker 1 (01:06:42):
I had this stuff with William Regal and the Undertaker
that was kind of fun, and then undertake a forcing
Regal to make the main event no holds barred, and
Regal's like okay, and he's he's afraid to tell Steve Austin.
Tries to get somebody to knock on Steve Auston's door.
Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
And he's not here this early. What are He's like, no,
he's right there, he's right in there. You want to
to get him?
Speaker 3 (01:07:01):
He no, no, no, I got it.
Speaker 2 (01:07:02):
Run along, now, run along, and he.
Speaker 1 (01:07:07):
He's pretty much cowering in fear when he tells him,
and Steve like that's fine, that's cool, you know, I
get to break rules too then, so so.
Speaker 3 (01:07:14):
But that's what, like I don't understand. Everyone's like, oh,
why was he so cool about it? It's like, yes,
Triple ah right.
Speaker 2 (01:07:19):
There, like she's got clear you know, yeah, I can
have it's four.
Speaker 3 (01:07:24):
On one not yeah exactly. Yeah, Like you know, I
Cane is just lock in the locker room, you know,
like you just he won't be able to get out.
Speaker 1 (01:07:34):
Here's here's the third like the third dimension opening up
in your brain here. So look, Triple, you lose the title, right,
but because you lose it's Caine Kine is so occupied.
He's preoccupied taking pictures backstage in the main event, right,
So by the time you come out, he's still backstage
taking pictures with the.
Speaker 2 (01:07:49):
Title, and that means I get to keep my title.
See that's how I would have mapped it out.
Speaker 3 (01:07:55):
Yeah, I mean, I guess that was entertaining. I must have.
Speaker 2 (01:08:01):
It wasn't that dope. I don't worry. It wasn't that dope.
I just had I just put something here.
Speaker 3 (01:08:05):
I mean, that's a good one to have, you know,
And especially that the way Regal was like cowering and
everything like that was kind of funny.
Speaker 2 (01:08:13):
Yeah, that's kind of fat.
Speaker 3 (01:08:14):
But I did find it even more funny when the
Undertaker was like, you just see that blood on your head,
that's gonna go down to your throat. Oh god. He's like, oh, okay,
you got yours.
Speaker 2 (01:08:23):
You've got your match, sir. Anything else, by the way,
It's like, all.
Speaker 3 (01:08:27):
You got to do is threatened to murder the commissioner
and you'll get whatever you want. So why doesn't every
every wrestler do this?
Speaker 2 (01:08:35):
Only undertake it gets to do it because he's a
dead man. He'll make you famous.
Speaker 3 (01:08:39):
I should know that. Those corn ass catchphrase, man, I
hate I hated that.
Speaker 1 (01:08:44):
He'll make you famous by beating you up, So make
you famous? Remember that time I didn't take a beat
that guy up?
Speaker 3 (01:08:53):
Like what does that mean? Like what was that supposed
to be?
Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
Well, he made I guess he's saying like he made
mankind famoushen he threw him off the cell.
Speaker 2 (01:09:00):
So but he didn't do the same to you.
Speaker 3 (01:09:02):
I guess he didn't.
Speaker 2 (01:09:03):
Kind of kind of did he kind of did that.
That definitely helps.
Speaker 3 (01:09:06):
I mean, we knew about him before that, but I
mean likes talking about famous, Like, yeah, I guess so
you know, you.
Speaker 2 (01:09:11):
Know, uh, but worst non wrestling happening.
Speaker 3 (01:09:17):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
Nick, you said you have a couple here.
Speaker 3 (01:09:20):
Uh No, I have one worst non wrestling happening. And okay,
I'm gonna.
Speaker 2 (01:09:26):
No, don't do it to him.
Speaker 4 (01:09:28):
Don't play god, oh no, because I have the same thing.
Speaker 3 (01:09:43):
Lean and Jerry.
Speaker 2 (01:09:44):
I'm sure you would.
Speaker 3 (01:09:48):
Be here in Sacramento and Jentle Dikipedia. That's right, Jr.
Speaker 5 (01:09:53):
First of all, I like to thank everyone for this opportunity.
Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
Mister l the worldlife from New York City.
Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
Let's go.
Speaker 3 (01:10:04):
I'm a champion.
Speaker 2 (01:10:06):
Springs to my mind.
Speaker 5 (01:10:07):
One thing apparently no one else that this heavyweight title
should be defended at that pay per view, That I
Jerry Lynn the light heavyweight champion Judgment Day defending this title.
Speaker 3 (01:10:26):
Okay, they're in California here, not God.
Speaker 5 (01:10:29):
Knows to become the w w F light heavyweight Champion.
Speaker 3 (01:10:37):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:10:37):
What do I get from my efforts?
Speaker 2 (01:10:40):
I get to top? Whoopity do? Jerry Lynn? I hope
I earned my keep? Today was my interview?
Speaker 4 (01:10:54):
Okay for your j R?
Speaker 2 (01:10:56):
Oh my god? Am I a good enough champ for
your j R? Yes? Oh, many were going to do it.
I guarantee you one thing to do with this there.
I give a whole new meaning to the words judgment.
Oh wait, what if you don't believe me, just watch me.
(01:11:16):
That was pretty cool Hawk Yeah, oh man, yeah, sure was.
Speaker 3 (01:11:23):
Paul Hamn's like if he was dead, he'd be rolling
over in his grave. Yeah, that's right there.
Speaker 2 (01:11:29):
You know, Jay are looking at him like, this is
your guy. This your boy. This this e c W.
This is this is the guy you've been telling me about.
Remember Ben Damn tearing it up?
Speaker 3 (01:11:39):
He said, you said, what about his pearl less skills?
Speaker 1 (01:11:42):
This is why you Oh, this is why you didn't
put the mic in his hand, and then said, let's
since you. I mean, look, that's crazy and judge judgment day,
it's crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:12:00):
What's what's he doing? Is he self? Is he a
self timbatore, saboteur?
Speaker 2 (01:12:09):
It must have been, Bro, because he clearly did not
want to do this.
Speaker 3 (01:12:14):
He didn't even know TNA was there. He's like, well,
TNA was like a year away from being a thing.
He's like, I want to go to DNA.
Speaker 2 (01:12:19):
Fire me, Bro, But like Jerry, come on, like, yeah,
they're not. You should be on the show.
Speaker 1 (01:12:25):
We know that you should probably should be defending the
title on the show fair enough, but to be like
they made me talk, you got promo time, make the
most of it. You got promo on the in view.
Granted it's not in the arena, it's across the country. Granted, right,
you're right, you fair fair point on that, but like
(01:12:45):
you got the time, they gave you the mic.
Speaker 2 (01:12:48):
Do something, bro, that's your time. I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (01:12:51):
You can't complain and be like it didn't pretty much
tank the promo, like and be mad about the fact
that you got the promo?
Speaker 2 (01:12:57):
Is this good enough? Did I get that? Did that
do a good promo? That do a good talk?
Speaker 1 (01:13:02):
It's like, well, we're never going to give you the
mic again. Now, we're never going to use you now
because the chance they gave you they look for. Look,
let's be honest, obviously, being at WWF New York doing
a pay per view isn't like the greatest look, right,
But if they give you the mic, it's still saying, hey,
(01:13:22):
we want to feature you in some way.
Speaker 2 (01:13:26):
Make the most of the kid. He didn't. I'm sorry, bro.
Speaker 1 (01:13:29):
Like, as much as you can blame WWF for not
using Jerry Lynd the way they probably should have, they
gave him a chance here and I don't think he
recognized it as a chance. He just took it as
like shot to his ego, seemingly. That's what the way
I took it here, he's no killer cross right like
he took it as it.
Speaker 2 (01:13:47):
Took a personal and and that was the result. That
was rough judgment. That's crazy, bro, Wow, what are we doing?
Speaker 3 (01:13:59):
Like he's to be a cartoon because it's like, oh,
like this is a cartoon world, Like.
Speaker 2 (01:14:04):
You said, he must not have wanted to work there anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:14:07):
Right, He's been waiting all his life to be WW
flight heavyweight champion, a title that did not exist for
like half of his life at least, you know, like.
Speaker 2 (01:14:16):
At least half his life.
Speaker 3 (01:14:17):
What are we doing?
Speaker 6 (01:14:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
That was rough, mister jol That was rough, brutal. I
didn't get it none the worse.
Speaker 3 (01:14:26):
We got to we'ret that and we're outing this whenever
we talked about judgment day on here the current faction
inw we're gonna judgment.
Speaker 1 (01:14:40):
He started off all right, and he could have like
cut a promo angrily about the fact that he wasn't
dance like you know what when I when have done
a comeback and be everybody's ass like he could have
done something like that said he like whined about it.
Speaker 2 (01:14:51):
That's not great.
Speaker 1 (01:14:52):
Another strange thing that happened on this show was that
like fifteen second promo for Mick Foley's book.
Speaker 2 (01:14:58):
Did you see that?
Speaker 3 (01:14:59):
Oh? Yeah, yeah I did?
Speaker 7 (01:15:01):
What was that?
Speaker 2 (01:15:02):
And that was it? That was the promo.
Speaker 3 (01:15:04):
I don't know, want to like a third book, right, but.
Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
It was something about China and something relationship they might
have had. It was really weird and it was out
of context, no added context.
Speaker 1 (01:15:16):
I guess you got to read the book or if
there was a video of this interview somewhere, you could
watch that.
Speaker 7 (01:15:22):
But like.
Speaker 1 (01:15:24):
Strange, real strange, real strange stuff. But let's move on
to our hidden gyms. And I'll start us off here
because we just mentioned China, but I think her match
on this night is a hidden gym worth watching. It
completely Women's Championship China defending against Leeda and what turned
out to be China's final WWF match because the company
(01:15:49):
didn't want to pay her pretty much, they promoted her
to the Hills.
Speaker 3 (01:15:53):
Interesting because they didn't vacate the title until November, so
I mean it's like bizarre.
Speaker 2 (01:15:58):
And that's when she was finally done, I guess, but she.
Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
Missed the invasion angle all that, like what could have been?
Speaker 2 (01:16:03):
Man, what could have been?
Speaker 1 (01:16:04):
They promoted it to the hilt and made her look
like a star let her even shoot off her own pyro,
and yet they didn't think she was worth what she
was asking for.
Speaker 3 (01:16:14):
Listen, I understand if you know, we heard stories about
h she was difficult to work with, blah blah blah.
But when you go from like winning the Intercontinental title
and competing with men, like thinking that, okay, like I
am changing the industry and I can hang with the
men there, I should be booked with the men. The
(01:16:34):
way she was and she was holding her own it
probably did feel like a devotion to be women's champion
or even being the women's division. But again, we weren't
there for any of the meetings and stuff like that.
But I didn't think she It wasn't like she was
going through the motions to me like she she was
still hell.
Speaker 2 (01:16:52):
Over, hell over, that's the thing that go ahead.
Speaker 3 (01:16:56):
I'm sorry, Like it didn't look like it. I don't think.
Maybe it was like a Brewster riego or something like that,
But again, we're not there. We don't know that. We
don't know that from people around her. We just know, like, again,
she was a former Intercontinental champion, so if she was
(01:17:17):
quote unquote difficult to work with, it was probably like
she was again wanting to be paid and they didn't
pay her.
Speaker 2 (01:17:24):
And because it just for whatever reason, I like the
Hall of.
Speaker 3 (01:17:30):
Famer, Like, it's crazy that it went down the way
it did, honestly looking back, and like in the moment,
me not appreciating her and what she meant to the
to w and the industry in general, to now like
knowing exactly like her place and what she did for women,
(01:17:51):
you know, like and just forgetting about this match. Really,
I honestly forgot about it. And I'm glad that we
watched this and like I was able to rewatch it
and be like, man, China was incredible.
Speaker 1 (01:18:05):
She was, and they promoted her as if she was
They called her the ninth Wonder of the world. Bro,
Like she was among as far as as far as women,
the top woman on the roster. So Payer, you know,
you had to beat up dudes anyway, Payer.
Speaker 3 (01:18:21):
They don't have this competition anymore. So I mean, like
I guess, oh, we don't have to pay her as
a thing. That's it's again. Now you're a trendsetter, so
you can obviously set the trend. And they decided not to.
Speaker 2 (01:18:34):
They decided not to.
Speaker 1 (01:18:35):
China in this night, by the way, came out stunning,
by the way, with the peacock feathers or peacock Like wow,
peacock was like ready for this, they love this. And
the women in the see of women wearing like special gear,
like extravagant gear. Back then, they just came out and wrestled.
I mean, they looked attractive, and that's what they really
honed in, almost like how scantily clad they could be,
of anything. But it wasn't like this, uh, this bombast
(01:18:59):
and grandeur to their outfits. Really you didn't see like
now you see robes and you know, all this splendor
that they could have and all the pomp and circumstance.
But back then it wasn't either either sex appeal or
you just get out there and wrestle.
Speaker 2 (01:19:11):
But here comes China with just a.
Speaker 1 (01:19:13):
Little head peace. It wasn't even like a full deal.
It was just the peacock feathers behind her. But I
was like, oh, okay, China in two thousand and one
when leaders out there in a T shirt and like
cargo pants, like no disrespect.
Speaker 2 (01:19:26):
It's not like it's a bad outfit, but it's like
there was no pizazz to it.
Speaker 1 (01:19:30):
Nobody was judgeing it up really, and I don't know
if they were allowed to, I'm sure they could, they
would have, but like they just China did so you
didn't really see that. But China looked like a star.
The fans reacted to her like she was a star,
and they didn't want to pay her like she was
a star. Unfortunately, though, speaking of wardrobes, we got an
unfortunate wardrobe malfunction in this match. She did that Peacock
(01:19:52):
was not excited for, and they blurred it out. They
made sure to blurt it out. The horny fans in
the building got excited.
Speaker 2 (01:19:59):
They sure did.
Speaker 3 (01:20:00):
You got like the people like taking pictures right away.
That's crazy, that's Jim Fross. Oh, the fans getting into it.
It's like, do you know why they are or why?
Speaker 2 (01:20:14):
He knew why. He just had to try to explain
away what's going on.
Speaker 3 (01:20:20):
Usually when people like get up like that, everyone's like, oh,
there's a fight in the crowd. Wait, they're looking inside
the ring, it's going on.
Speaker 2 (01:20:26):
Oh, and China didn't realize it for a while and
went on for a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:20:31):
Oh, but they got it together and they actually had
a really good match for two thousand and one. They
actually got to wrestle in this match, which was like great.
And then you have the story of leda kind of
being like, yo, I want to you know, you think
you better than everybody. How about you face me? Like
you ain't face me yet? And I wanted, you know,
you want some competition, look no further, and China is
(01:20:53):
like actually respecting it, like all right, let's do it.
Speaker 3 (01:20:55):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:20:55):
It's like a mutual respecting they had.
Speaker 1 (01:20:57):
And Lida being the underdog, the people got behind her
as an underdog and they told a good story and
I thought it was well done. Now, granted they still
had to be a man involved. Now he wasn't really
really involved, but he was around. And that was of course,
Eddie Gurero, who was in a segment prior, went to
Leader's locker room and offer her some advice on how
to beat China, because of course her Eddie Garrero in
(01:21:18):
China was.
Speaker 2 (01:21:19):
A couple of two thousand.
Speaker 1 (01:21:21):
I don't know if it spilled it in two thousand
and one, but definitely in two thousand he knew her well,
but Leader declined, said I got to do this on
my own. And Eddie Garrell eventually walks out on stage
to watch the match, doesn't get involved, just watches, and
he watched China powerbomb Lida and beat and pick up
the wind and he just looked like, uh, I told
you so. Should should have listened to me. But after
(01:21:44):
the match, China and Lida they hugged, they raised each
other's arms and it was like.
Speaker 2 (01:21:48):
Wow, that was dope.
Speaker 1 (01:21:49):
And again for a women's match in two thousand and one,
that was really really well done.
Speaker 2 (01:21:54):
Leader looked great, even in defeat.
Speaker 1 (01:21:56):
I felt they put her over in the loss, and
it was, you know, not knowing at the time, it
was kind of like a passing of the torch moment
from one generation of women to the next, kind of
in WWF because again that was in hindsight. Now we
know that was China's final match in WWE. So interesting match,
interesting set of circumstances. But again for two thousand and one,
(01:22:19):
I thought it was a really good wrestling match from
the women that they actually got time to wrestle for once.
Speaker 3 (01:22:25):
Yeah, you think you would look at the time and
be like, oh, six minutes and thirty seconds, that was long. Yeah,
it was like probably double the average women's TV match
in that period time period, you know. And yeah it
was WWF Women's Championship China whatever. Still it probably meant
quite a bit in that time period. I remember thinking, yeah,
(01:22:49):
they like they don't get enough time, Like even at
that age, I was just like why are they? And really,
the only match they had was when it was the
women's title match. It's not they didn't have like secondary feuds.
The only women's match would be like a title match,
so there was there was no booking, uh you know,
(01:23:10):
the women's division. It was just let's book the women's
title match and see how that goes. And the only
other the things that were women were involved in other
than that were again like centered around men, and it
was just like this was it, Like that's what we got.
And yeah, I think China and leda hit it out
(01:23:33):
of the park for what they were given.
Speaker 2 (01:23:35):
I agree.
Speaker 1 (01:23:35):
I agree for that six minutes, they made the most
out of it. Yeah, and fortunately no one else even
got involved. Uh, it's just just them too. Out there
going at it and putting on a good wrestling match.
I had an honorable mention here, though, and it was
a specific portion of a match. It was only I'm
taking it from Tag Team Turmoil, which was the longest
match of the show. But I'm really taking it from
the time that Jericho comes out with Chris Pinoy as like, hey,
(01:23:58):
that's worth going back to watch, because Jericho had a
mystery partner, which eventually turned out to be Banoit, who
we saw loser kerr Angle earlier.
Speaker 2 (01:24:07):
But the thing is they were like enemies.
Speaker 1 (01:24:09):
They were they were beefing, and specifically at the two
thousand and one War Rumble where they had a ladder match.
Well I think it was that the Icy title they
had a ladder match for.
Speaker 3 (01:24:19):
I don't I don't remember, you don't remember.
Speaker 1 (01:24:21):
Probably I'll look it up, but I'm pretty sure they
had a ladder match in two thousand and one at
the War of Rumble.
Speaker 2 (01:24:26):
And now they're here as homies.
Speaker 1 (01:24:28):
You know, you know, they're both baby faces, So they're
buddies now, even though they was like beefing all of
two thousands.
Speaker 3 (01:24:32):
Yes, title, okay, so yeah, the champion at the time
and Jericho beat them.
Speaker 1 (01:24:38):
Jericho won, But yeah, I thought they had really good
chemistry together. Not surprising because you know they were close
in real life. But yeah, they'd be X Factor, who
got a couple wins in this match.
Speaker 3 (01:24:49):
Surprisingly why, I don't know why they were they super
over like Jerry Lynn. It was probably because X Fact.
In fact, they got on this show and he didn't.
Speaker 2 (01:25:01):
He probably was just Incredibles on the show.
Speaker 7 (01:25:05):
I just.
Speaker 2 (01:25:07):
Just faced him. He waved, he beat me, He beat me,
he waved night he's on the show.
Speaker 1 (01:25:14):
Paul, do you gotta do something, Paul Haymon, You know
I'm better than Just Incredible. Two weeks in a row
for Just Incredible and Jerry Lynn by the way, that's right, Yeah,
two weeks in the row for us with them.
Speaker 2 (01:25:24):
Uh but Jericho and Benoit.
Speaker 1 (01:25:26):
They beat X Factor, and then that gave way to
edging Christian, which is also a really good match for
the final fall. They won the match at one point
though they did a drop kick doomsday device, not like
a regular du the device with the clothes line.
Speaker 2 (01:25:41):
We're talking ben Wah.
Speaker 1 (01:25:42):
I think he had Christian. Jericho had Christian up on
his shoulders and ben Wack jumps off and drop kicks
Christian and his lands flat on his back from like
ten feet in the air.
Speaker 3 (01:25:52):
I felt for Jericho there. I thought he was good.
I thought he fell on Jericho but he he kind
of did, but it wasn't like the full brunt of it. Yeah, man,
this was a very oddly uh maneuvered maneuver.
Speaker 2 (01:26:05):
Yeah, hopefully we never see that again.
Speaker 3 (01:26:07):
They didn't look great. It didn't look great, like I
could do that better.
Speaker 2 (01:26:17):
What did he do?
Speaker 3 (01:26:22):
A big one? Not just a whoop to do. It's
a big one, So I could have DoD that better.
Speaker 2 (01:26:26):
That charge man, what a goof What a goofy promo?
Speaker 3 (01:26:31):
That was bro?
Speaker 2 (01:26:32):
That was insane.
Speaker 3 (01:26:33):
The lower that Jerry Lynn has on this show now
will forever be tainted.
Speaker 1 (01:26:36):
That was insane, Bro, mister j L stop it right now.
Random thoughts from Judgment Day two thousand and one.
Speaker 2 (01:26:45):
I'll kick us off.
Speaker 1 (01:26:46):
Here with backstay segments during paper views so weird. I
still don't like them, and they they loved them at
this point because they just felt like they had to
feel time for some reason, and they just loved doing
backstay segments.
Speaker 3 (01:26:59):
They can't match to match to match the way w
CW did the.
Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
Wake w w F used to it wasn't w w
F hadn't done it.
Speaker 1 (01:27:07):
Yeah, it is like it's like a it's just a
massive uptick from two thousand to two thousand and one.
Speaker 2 (01:27:12):
It's like, why where did these come from? Like we
get one like right after the first match, we get
Vince and Triple H talking in the locker room. So
I have that, you have that whole thing.
Speaker 3 (01:27:22):
We're gonna talk about how weird it is.
Speaker 2 (01:27:23):
Okay, who's here?
Speaker 1 (01:27:25):
Ha ha?
Speaker 7 (01:27:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:27:26):
How about this daddy's girl?
Speaker 7 (01:27:31):
Very very nice, very nice?
Speaker 6 (01:27:34):
Yeah, g on the.
Speaker 2 (01:27:38):
We can ask you this question.
Speaker 7 (01:27:39):
I mean, why would why would you involve Sarah the
Undertaker's wife in this whole scenario when you know it's
only going to rile the Undertaker up and and cause
he and came to be even more vin addictive in
your respective matches.
Speaker 3 (01:27:53):
I don't get it.
Speaker 7 (01:27:53):
I mean, I know it's judgment day, but I at
this judge you have to question your collective judgment is
why you would mess with the sanctity of marriage?
Speaker 2 (01:28:06):
Oh my gosh, let me get this straight.
Speaker 4 (01:28:08):
Your concern is that we messed with another guy's wife.
Speaker 2 (01:28:11):
Aren't you the guy that puts your wife in a sanitarium.
Speaker 4 (01:28:14):
There, husband of the Year Real talk List.
Speaker 6 (01:28:17):
Just realized, Auestin, and I get this all under control.
Speaker 7 (01:28:20):
I sincerely hope so. And by the way, I was
messing with my wife somebody.
Speaker 3 (01:28:25):
Else's Oh, that makes it better. He's just been misunderstood that.
Speaker 2 (01:28:32):
Big man is insane.
Speaker 7 (01:28:33):
Bro.
Speaker 2 (01:28:35):
He wrote that.
Speaker 1 (01:28:36):
He wrote that he wrote trippil As to call him
out too, which is like rightly done. Like, hey man,
didn't you just like you have your wife in a
catatonic state for weeks while you gallivanted with a woman
half your age, plan literally planning her face.
Speaker 2 (01:28:52):
And Innvince finds a way, he somehow.
Speaker 1 (01:28:54):
Finds a way to rationalize it because it's my wife,
not somebody else to see what.
Speaker 2 (01:29:03):
That's insane.
Speaker 3 (01:29:05):
That's insane stuff, bro ridiculous Again, I've never done it
so like kissing, you know, daughter dad, kissing on the lips,
I've always found just that's fair. I know it is intact,
but I mean I still like that, just like her
being like look at my suit and her and being like, oh,
(01:29:25):
very nice and kissing I was just off putting for me.
Speaker 2 (01:29:30):
That's fair.
Speaker 3 (01:29:32):
That is the rationalization from Vincent and trivle like like
you're you're on the same team, and like he's he's
criberle acious saying Vince is more evil than he is
and it's just funny.
Speaker 2 (01:29:44):
I don't treat you a kid like that. You did
that to my mother in law, bro sitting in that wheelchair.
Speaker 3 (01:29:49):
She's the former second she's gonna be the future secretary
of education.
Speaker 2 (01:29:52):
Man, all right, treat her with respects please.
Speaker 1 (01:29:57):
Another note that I had was we talked about LST
week a lot about theme music because Peacock doesn't have
any of these w shows stuff. But one thing I
thought about when when I watched the shows, like, you know,
we had underrated theme music back in the day, Test
really underrated theme music. Go back and listening to Test, Yes,
(01:30:18):
go back and listening to Test a song. I was like, man,
that was kind of kind of a bop.
Speaker 3 (01:30:21):
My head to it. You know, yeah, I mean, you
hate the Nasty Boys theme, but you'll you'll whoa, Okay, well.
Speaker 1 (01:30:28):
There's no comparison between the two. I don't know how
you went from Tests to the Nasty Boys. What wait
a second, you.
Speaker 2 (01:30:37):
Mean we're the boys. We're the boys were the Nasty Boys,
and then we're gonna go.
Speaker 3 (01:30:41):
To test, like this is a test, Like that's better.
Speaker 2 (01:30:45):
Yeah, the song itself was just better. I like that
song way better than Nasty No with the sneakers, Like it's.
Speaker 1 (01:30:56):
Not like sneakers running across the hardwood floor. It doesn't
even sound like record scratches. No, I'm good, bro, give
me the test theme song. How do we get to
the Nasty Boys theme music?
Speaker 3 (01:31:10):
I was thinking about theme music? But yeah, we we
haven't seen tests that much on this shows we've done,
so it was cool to see him. Uh. It's just
funny that they showed the replay the previous show when
he helped Seane McMahon beat Big Show and then all uh,
It's just it made me think about how just normal
(01:31:31):
normalized the Big Show was inf We talked about it before.
But I'm just like, this guy should be a like
a what's the word we said it so often, like
a like an attraction attraction star. Yeah, Like it's just
he here he is losing a triple threat match and
hard right.
Speaker 2 (01:31:51):
Getting gored by Rhino the trash can and losing.
Speaker 3 (01:31:55):
Yep, I could buy tests beating him up just because
of the size of test. But I mean like, just
in general, the Big Show just looked like a goofball
so much, and he changed his outfit so many times
and his hair. It's just like you're a goofball man.
Speaker 2 (01:32:10):
He also didn't look like he was into it neither. No,
he didn't. He was going through the motions, and I
don't blame him, honestly.
Speaker 3 (01:32:16):
It's just like the way.
Speaker 2 (01:32:18):
I was the Giant World Champion.
Speaker 3 (01:32:22):
I was protected for years, and.
Speaker 1 (01:32:24):
Now I'm losing to Rhino and test In Like the
second match of Judgment, Dude, where are we in life?
Speaker 2 (01:32:36):
Big Show? I'm sure he was think one doing that,
probably probably because this wasn't this wasn't it. This was
a fall from grace.
Speaker 1 (01:32:43):
He's bounced back obviously since, but it didn't start off great.
But any other random notes that you had from Judgment
Day two thousand and.
Speaker 3 (01:32:53):
One, So I have two. One of them is a
small thing and then the other one is like a
thing I want to dive in to a little bit.
I'll go to the small thing first. The w wization
of Spike Dudley sucks. I really hated that character where
he's coming out with the Dudley Boys. It's just like
he wasn't the ECW Spike Dudley that was like a
(01:33:16):
like a rugrat like moving around just the way he
you know, we saw and heat Wave ninety eight last week,
just like going nuts and everything. He was just like
normal Spike Dudley with a boyfriend of Molly Holly. And
it's like, dude, this like this isn't what I loved
in ECW. Now later on when he'd be like the
heel Spike Dudley that was ordering around Bubba and Da
(01:33:38):
and was kind of funny at all. Yeah, Like I
don't remember off the top of my head, but I
know he did that character. I just don't know how
long it was. But that's not what sticks in my
craw with sticks in my crawl is like just he
wasn't the Spike Dudley I loved an ECW neither, Like
I didn't love the Dudley boys at ECW, but like
(01:33:59):
Spike was just entertaining to me, you know, like uh,
just the way he would like strut around the ring,
like it makes me the way Cody like does his walk,
like his angry walk nowadays, this reminds me of Spike
Dudley because he was doing that in ec W. He
was just doing it very like quickly. He was getting
thrown in the crowd by bam band bigelow against crowdsurfed
(01:34:21):
and everything like that. It's just Spike Dudley and ECW
was a it was a mood man and w W
was not. WF was not a mood And I just
just seeing him come out he wasn't. He was just
like walking so slowly with the Bubba and Devon during
the tag team turmoil, Mash. I was just like, God, like,
(01:34:41):
Spike sucks here, Like I just missed the exciting Spike,
I guess, and I just wasn't a fan of the
w WF version of Spike Dudley.
Speaker 2 (01:34:51):
We've got to mention the stage for this show.
Speaker 3 (01:34:54):
Mentioned that I was like, I like the stage, like
it felt like it was set up. Was it the arena,
but like the aisle was like two feet long?
Speaker 1 (01:35:05):
Well, yes, Archo Arena was the smallest arena in NBA
at what point, I think they seeded maybe eleven thousand
people because it held the small arena.
Speaker 3 (01:35:13):
It held the ninety three Royal Rumble, and I remember
like that the entrance ways for the Royal Rumbles were
always like long because you would have the guy running
out and everything like that and take a little bit
to get to the ring. The ninety three Rubble was
not you know, it was a short aisle and because
it was held at the Arco Arena, and I just
remember being like, oh, this is weird. It was like
(01:35:35):
the first Rumble where you didn't have like the running
a long time to get to the ring type thing.
So I do remember that. So but now like in
two thousand and one they had like the big stages
compared to ninety three where they didn't. And yeah, just
reminded me like Collision and Dynamite right now, where like
(01:35:56):
they come out and oh boom, the ring is right there.
Speaker 2 (01:35:58):
Right in the ring, I will say. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:36:00):
The stage itself, though, I did enjoy the stage. I
liked the circular lights at the bottom, some of which
were stationary. I feel like they had like, uh, they
could cycle through the colors in the cool way for
each entrance.
Speaker 2 (01:36:12):
I thought that was fun.
Speaker 1 (01:36:12):
The hour glass theme was kind of interesting because it's
like the sands of time and Judgment Day is the
end and stuff like that.
Speaker 2 (01:36:18):
So what judge.
Speaker 1 (01:36:24):
Thank you mister j L for chiming and again making
more cameos in the show than than Chris Johnson.
Speaker 3 (01:36:30):
Is also the heat Wave ninety eight.
Speaker 2 (01:36:33):
He did wave right and peep out of him and
the heat Waved ninety eight. But here Judgment Day wild'n
out bro. But yeah, I enjoyed. I did enjoy the stage.
I did enjoy uh the kind of the theming behind it,
so uh better than like the nooses and the guillotine
(01:36:55):
they would do the next year. But Judgment Day oh two,
which is like damn a little overt.
Speaker 3 (01:37:00):
With the death and behind it, we did like the
first show, Yes it's.
Speaker 2 (01:37:07):
Like nooses, guillotines, beheadings. Let's do it like death.
Speaker 1 (01:37:15):
This was a little more, a little less, I mean,
even though they had like the Preacher guy the beginning
to advantage saying that we're all going to die, that
was overt, but like the look of it was a
little more subtle than it would be the next year.
Speaker 2 (01:37:30):
They literally had grave headstones. They went a little heavy
handed with it the next year. We're just not surprising
given who's running the show. There, people are dying.
Speaker 1 (01:37:45):
They must need headstones, right, So there you go. Any
other random notes, random thoughts from Judgment A O one.
Speaker 3 (01:37:52):
We talked about.
Speaker 2 (01:37:54):
I mean, we have, but let's talk about him some more.
Speaker 3 (01:37:58):
Probably one of the uh the worst heel turns and runs.
Uh I say worst, but it's also one of the
most forgettable of all time because when he came.
Speaker 1 (01:38:10):
Out, I think people are still talking about it as
far as like bad heel turns. Like I don't know
if it's that forgettable, we still we did it.
Speaker 2 (01:38:17):
He did it for the people, I did it for
the rock.
Speaker 3 (01:38:21):
Because I'm watching this and I'm like, oh this, you know,
he's a good guy, so I guess you know he
didn't turn heel yet. I forgot that he turned heel
and then months later he was a baby face again.
Speaker 2 (01:38:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:38:34):
And it's one of those things where okay, you're you
have to get triple hinval because the fans aren't really
buying Rikishi that much as uh, first of all, like
a main event character. I know, this is like his
kind of push into the main event a little bit.
They wanted to do that, and I just remember thinking, okay,
(01:38:56):
like yeah, we need new faces and everything, but not
like this. Nobody wanted to boom Rakishi at the time
because he was still super over, still getting like a
bunch of cheers. It wasn't you know, a Hogan thing
where people started going home and then it's like, okay,
we got to turn them. Obviously, I think they just
did it because they creatively just ran out of things
(01:39:19):
to do. And when you run out of something to
do for like one of your most popular characters, why
not just let it play out until the fans start
turning on them, Like I just okay, just have him
go out every week do this dance until it gets
old and then we'll turn them or something like that. Again,
I know that's not palatable and wrestling all the time
(01:39:40):
to do that, but I think this was a case
where he probably could have gotten away with that without
this stupid he'll turn and then the fans just not
caring enough and then you have to involve Triple H.
Of okay, well he's the one that drove the car,
but the real mastermind was Triple H. It was like, okay,
(01:40:01):
like now it's just ketting stupid and then corny and
all that. And then we fast forward a few more
months and oh, Triple Ah still holder a team, and
RAKESHI like forget about you, like, just go back and
doing your.
Speaker 2 (01:40:14):
Stick for crazy in hindsight.
Speaker 1 (01:40:16):
That is crazy in hindsight that they joined up like
three months after Triple was crushed in a car by
Steve Austin.
Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
He wanted to murder that man. And now they're just
hanging out having a good time to.
Speaker 3 (01:40:28):
Get homies, man, their homies, and Rakishi is, uh, you know,
losing to William Regal even though hey we could, you'll
get to do your stink face still, but you're just
not gonna You're not gonna win matches.
Speaker 2 (01:40:40):
And anymore you get to do your stink face still.
Speaker 3 (01:40:42):
This is like the downfall of RAKESHI. I know he
came back, he got hurt in this match, and he
he missed us some time after this, but uh, he
did come back. He was a tag team champion after this.
But it wasn't the same. It really was not the
same after this, and I that heel turned man. Just
I remember watching it, like just being interested in the story,
(01:41:04):
and then them hinting that it was Scottie too hotty,
and I was like, Okay, well that doesn't make sense.
So it's not gonna be him, but it's not gonna
be a Rakhshi either, you know, Like they're not gonna
move Rakeshi put him in that. I thought it might
be like a new signing or somebody like that that
would debut as the guy who ran over Austin. And
then once they made a Rakishi and the Rakeshi admitting it,
(01:41:25):
and I was like, oh, this is corny, so I
don't care anymore. So that's kind of probably where I
got the most forgettable, but uh, not forgettable for how
bad it was. And just this run for Rakishi of
where he was like probably on the top of the world.
You know, the way w W does business is like hey, like, uh,
I'm getting the crowd reactions. Yeah, and then just to
(01:41:46):
be in just another guy. It's like, man, they really sabotaged.
Speaker 2 (01:41:50):
Him, sabotaur for for no reason, for no reason, Yeah,
it was.
Speaker 1 (01:41:56):
I mean, look, they tried to do something in the
sence of Steve Austin, and I guess explain it. They
didn't do a good job of explaining it.
Speaker 2 (01:42:05):
They just didn't. And I don't know if a Keishi
was the wrong person. It didn't feel like the right
guy though.
Speaker 3 (01:42:12):
I don't know who didn't turn the rock heel.
Speaker 1 (01:42:16):
But I feel like you could have did, like Benoy,
he could have fit that. Yeah, and he could have
gotten some maybe some good matches out of ben wah
and in Austin, but they chose the Kyshi for some reason. Yeah.
I don't know, man that was That was probably just
miss another grossly miscasting, a gross miscasting, but from Vince again,
(01:42:39):
because I'm trying to think who else could have fit
that role.
Speaker 3 (01:42:43):
It was probably could have bought Kine or the Undertaker
to their main eventers at the time, It's like, okay,
like I'm annoyed by it, but at least it would
I don't know if I would have accepted that either,
because I was annoyed already from the Austin Undertaker few
that just went off for ever and forever. But uh,
I just I would have butt that probably more than
(01:43:06):
a Rakishi doing it for the Rock. It was then
you have to have the rock like exonerated that he
had nothing to do with it. Yeah, but then it
still made me look at the rock a little weird,
like wait.
Speaker 2 (01:43:20):
It wasn't like I was really thinking the rock has
something to do with it though't either.
Speaker 3 (01:43:23):
Yeah, so the whole thing was weird and it sucks
for Rakishi in that rock, which listen, he wasn't gonna
be the world champion, but it was still like why
a why type of thing, like when you didn't need to, like,
don't fix it if it's not broken, and they broke
something that was working perfectly.
Speaker 1 (01:43:48):
