Speaker 1 (00:13):
What's up everyone out there in internet land, and welcome
to episode four thirty five of the Straight Shooters available
wherever podcasts are found. My name is Vaughn Johnson, and
I'm joined as always by my main man Pots and Pants,
Nick pocon and Fox phl the Gamble and Philly Influencer,
and we have yet another fantastic show ahead of us
here on episode four thirty five. We're just talking about
(00:36):
current events, y'all, current day nonsense today because there's a
lot of stuff going on this past weekend in the
world of pro wrestling, a whole bunch of shows, I
think four total at least from the major two promotions
here in this country. Three from WWE because they came
to compete with aw and their one biggest show of
the year. But we're gonna talk all about the shows
(00:58):
except that one show from ww cal gat American Bash,
because nobody cared about that one. But we're gonna talk
all about the shows from the week that was this
past weekend, I should say, including Monday Night Raw. So
we're gonna talk about I guess four shows actually just
not Great American Bash Monday Night Raw. But before we
get into the weekend that was and the world of
pro wrestling. I gotta do my weekly check on my
main man pots and pants.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
Nick.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
How are you on his warm, steaming hot Tuesday evening,
My good brother.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
It's hot, and we're on the All Star break for
Major League Baseball, Thank goodness, because I need a break
from those Philadelphia Phillies.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Man. Man, we knew the.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
West Coast trip probably wasn't gonna go well, and man
did it not go well. So they obviously they won
the last series, last game of the series against the Giants,
last game of the series against the Padres, but everything
other than that was terrible. I need a break from them.
So the break came at a good time. All Star
Game tonight. As we're recording this, I'll probably be tuned
(02:01):
into that a little bit. I got no betting, you know, favorites.
There not nothing to root for except just the National
League because the Phillies are in the National League. I
never wager anything on stuff like that. I haven't really
wagered anything recently on anything, so you know, I just
watched as a fan, and I hope the National League wins,
just because the Phillies are a National League team and
(02:23):
Kyle Schwarver is the only Philly to be you know, showcased,
said I during the game, So hopefully he'll get that
bad like I'm sure he will, but we don't know
that for sure. We don't know how the game is
going to go. But yeah, I you know, just thank goodness.
It's not like the Phillies are gonna lose unless Kyle
(02:43):
strikes out or something, and it will feel like a loss,
but it won't be a loss in the standings like
their first place right now. And I'm annoyed, like it's crazy.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
Take it easy, man, it's crazy.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
Just it's not People say before the season, if you
were in first place by the All Star break, would
you take that? And everyone would say yes. And it's
just the way they get there is. You know, when
we live through it, we're.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
Like, ah, it don't have to be it don't have
to be.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Pretty though I know, I know, but you're.
Speaker 4 (03:15):
Still finishing first right now, at least for right now.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
And I don't I'm not even one that cares about
the standings during the course of a season as long
as you get in the playoffs. I understand, Like, if
you the way it's set up now, you got to
buy and that's kind of important if you want to
set up your pitching. But didn't really do anything for
them last year because they were a dead team walking
into the playoffs even with that rest. And I don't
(03:40):
think it had anything to do with the rest. They
were just playing like crap for almost over half a
season and they were kind of like it started off
this season the same way and just evened out a
little bit and just playing five hundred baseball since June first.
(04:00):
It's like, come on, like take that step, man. I
want to enjoy my summer.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
My summer.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
I'm able to watch entire game and I do it
like during the school year, sure, but I don't know,
there's something about the summer where I could just lay
back and I don't have to worry about waking up early,
you know, every day of the week. Yes, I worked
during the summer, but it's different, you know, Like I
can sleep a little bit later, I can leave the
(04:28):
house a little bit later in the morning. So I
like to watch these games and I want to see
my team win. And it's like last summer was not fun,
and so far this summer has not been fun. It's like,
just let me enjoy my team. Let's go get it together.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Well, the trade deadline is still approaching a couple of weeks,
so maybe something will change by that point. But one thing,
there's a lot of things we can talk about in
this country right now, but I think there's it's time
for a discussion and like that, Charles Barkley, mean, let's
have a discussion again. We canna have this about many, many,
many things in our country. But one thing I think
(05:05):
we should talk about is the the purpose of All.
Speaker 4 (05:08):
Star games now in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Because that the National League, and they said the roof
of the National League, but like there's nothing at stake now.
They don't put the World Series home field advantage on
the line anymore, which is a good thing I think,
But like, yeah, outside of fulfilling sponsorship obligations and just
making money selling some tickets and bidding an event out
to the city to a city for a week or
(05:32):
so for the time that they're there in that city,
what is the purpose of an All Star Game in
any sport at this point?
Speaker 4 (05:39):
The NBA All.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Star Game is garbage. The hockey one was good last year,
or they didn't have an Astar game, they had the
four nations, which was amazing, but they had something at
stake in that. That's what made it really good. And
those players played really hard. But like you're not gonna
get that in football, don't get into basketball. And in baseball, guys,
if they do play, they play, but like that's if
(06:01):
they play. Now a lot of guys are pulling out apparently,
like the pictures are pulling out, which I don't blame him.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
You got to save that on.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
So it's we need to have a discussion, y'all about
the the sanctity of All Star games. What's the point
at this point besides making money. You can just name
an All Star team and that's it, right and have
a inquit or something.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
That I would watch probably if they aired it, but yeah,
I mean it's yeah, exactly, It's not a showcase anymore
as much as it felt like, you know, when I
was growing up, because we didn't have MLB dot TV,
we didn't have the ability to watch every game every
night the way we do now, so we normally didn't
(06:44):
get to see a lot of the stars, especially in Philly.
You know, like nineteen ninety three was the first year
I watched and ninety four was like not bad until
the strike, but then ninety five, ninety six, ninety seven,
ninety eight, ninety nine terrible years as a Phillies fan.
And ninety six they brought the All Star Game here
and we're going to get it again next year. But
oh yeah, that was like a great showcase where I
(07:07):
was excited to see like Ken Griffy Junior because he
was in Seattle, you know, like I never got to
see him, and I had his video game on Super Nintendo.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Which was fire Bro.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
Dude, I love it. My favorite base.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Fire King Griffy Baseball, All Time Classic Baseball game. You
can have MLB at the show, give me Cavic and
Naseball all right, old school Super Nintendo.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
Let's do it, dude, love it. Only playing with the Mariners.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
I'm sorry Philly's, but only playing with the Mariners because
I want to play with Ken Griffy exactly.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
I was the Mariners like a bunch of times because
and it was funny because like you would almost always
hit a home run or like at a basin.
Speaker 4 (07:45):
I mean, av playing with the kid, come on now.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
So you know, I just love that.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
Like a lot of people in the Hall of Fame,
a lot of a lot of players in the Hall
of Fame that I watched growing up and got to
see him in the All Star Game and whenever they can't,
whenever the phil played them, you know, it's like, oh man,
that's incredible. And yes, I was playing baseball at the
time too, so you kind of look it up to
these guys, but like, I want to do that on
a baseball field, and you know, it's just not the
(08:11):
same feeling today. Like again, I'm not growing up in
this era.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
Yeah, you're also not a kid anymore.
Speaker 2 (08:18):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
So I don't want to speak at it as to
like I that's what they're thinking, but they I mean,
if I had access to like every single game, my
parents would have bought whatever package it was so I
could watch like every baseball game growing up. That's how
much I loved it. And it's just not that feeling
and like the All Stars and everything, it's like, okay, well,
(08:39):
and interleague is not a thing that barely happens, like
you have an interleague series or two every single day,
you know, or every single week because there's a odd
number of teams, so it's not like they can split
a l and NL. They you always have an AL
team face and an l n L team at some
point really and obviously the DH comes into play. So
(09:02):
a lot of these rules have also made what made
the All Star break feel special kind of just like, Okay,
it's just a lot of these good players playing against
each other, but some of them probably aren't trying that hard.
You know, the pitchers probably are. The hitters I'm sure are,
but I mean, like, it's not like fielders are trying
(09:23):
to go out of their way to make crazy plays
stuff like that. It's just it's not as bad as
you know, football or basketball, but it's it's it just
sometimes feels that way where you know, we had five
Phillies there last year and they made a great play
in the field. You know, I do remember that, and
that was a lot of fun. It's a Phillies fan watching.
But I mean, you know, how often are you gonna get.
Speaker 4 (09:45):
Those moments you're you don't care, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
I don't remember any single All Star game recently, like
at all.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
That's fair, that's fair.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
But do we remember this past weekend and pro wrestling,
Yes we do.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
We're going to talk about it.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
We're going to talk about it right now, let's go
back to Saturday, July twelfth, to the Great America. No,
we're not talking about the Great American facts. We're going
to Globe Life is it park? Global Life Park down
in Arlington, Texas, home of the Texas Rangers, twenty twenty
Globe Life Field.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
I'm sorry, Like like field sounded right?
Speaker 4 (10:22):
It did?
Speaker 2 (10:22):
It did?
Speaker 1 (10:23):
It's the same who cares Globe Globe Live Stadium. Okay
that they got their name on it. Now it's home
of the Texas Rangers, who won the World Series in
twenty three. Yeah, twenty three, Yeah, because Houston won in
twenty two obviously beat the Phillies, and Diamondbacks lost to
the Rangers after they beat the Phillies twenty three. I'm
just saying we had to keep track of history here unfortunately.
(10:45):
But somewhere in the range of about twenty seven thousand
I think was the attendance for this show. I don't
know if I seen an official number to.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
The good old Wikipedia, twenty seven thousand.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Plus, twenty seven thousand plus.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
It's not twenty six nine ninety nine.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
We know that it's at least twenty seven thousand and
one because you gotta have the plus in there, so
that means more than twenty seven thousand, right, But either way,
somewhere in the range of twenty seven to thirty thousand
people are so packed into Globe Life Field there in Arlington, Texas.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
And it looked great. Number one. I thought the show
looked really, really great.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
AW looked really grand on this stage, and I was
a little worried to how about how it would look
because you know, it's not a massive it's not a
it's a baseball stadium. It's not a massive stadium. But
there's still you know, bigger, bigger venue aw's running here
in the States, I think. And it made it look great,
and they packed put a lot of people in that building.
It looked like a big show. It felt like a
(11:49):
big show.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
And it was a length of.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
A big show for AW because it was like what
six hours. I think it started at three and it
went well past eight pm.
Speaker 3 (11:59):
I forget the time, six plus hours. I don't know
if it was as much six and a half, but
it was definitely more than.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
Six Oh lord, that is too long.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
I'm glad because I broke it up to one of
the course of the pay per views, so it wasn't
like a hard watch for me. And I didn't watch
it all the way through. Obviously I took you know,
dips here and there. But if I was not, I
don't know. I don't want to say if I was there,
but if I made it my point a point all
day to just sit down on a couch and watch that,
(12:30):
I would have become restless. And I know I'm not alone,
but I and I know there are people that stop
complaining about it blah blah blah, But I mean, you
gotta find a happy medium. Like four four and a
half hours should be the limit.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
The max you got four hours for me, I don't
even know if I want to give him four and
a half.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
Four, I'll be okay.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Like at the fourth hour they start to mate event,
because then at least you know it's over soon. But
when when it's like five hours in and you have
two more matches that you know are going to take time,
you're just like, like, wrestling.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
Is not.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
I know it's promoted like one, but it's not a
sporting event.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
That's why I say sporting events don't last five six hours.
That's not that's beyond. That's two football games.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
Concerts don't even last that long.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
I mean, unless you go to a Grateful Dead concert
hurt those last like twelve hours straight.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
But like that's an exception concert.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
But that's an exception. But like a football game starts
at one o'clock, you can bank on that game being
over by four, four, five, four fifteen, unless it goes
into overtime. And even then, if it's a regular season game,
you're still done by like four thirty four forty five
and you're going home.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
I just need WW.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Did it?
Speaker 4 (13:51):
We complained when it was Wrestlming.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
It was one night and it was a six hour show,
including the pre show, which had consequential matches on it.
We're going to complain and again, these shows are too long.
And I understand they want to get everybody on the show,
and everybody deserves a spot, but you gotta that you
gotta I like, at the time, wisely more wisely too
fast and loose with the time limits on these shows.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
And it's the people that like AW and I understand
that they would rather watch an AW product over for
six plus hours over WW products. But if it's not
the product, it's just the amount of time, take time.
If it's a good show. It doesn't mean I want
to watch a good show for six straight hours.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
Like I just I know that way.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
People are different, but I just don't understand, Like, if
you didn't like WrestleMania being five and a half hours,
how are you gonna possibly like a six and a
half hours.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
There's no way that four way for the TNT title
didn't need almost sixteen minutes.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
I can tell you that right now.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
That tag title match didn't need almost eighteen minutes, even
though it had a high angle at the end. Could
have spent one more time on the angle at the end,
and you did the match itself, and yeah.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
That's that's pretty much it. That's where my complaints were in.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
I will give man that Women's Battle World lasted, Guantlin
match lasted twenty seven minutes, but again, these are good matches.
I'll you know, Oh, the men's win lasted thirty four minutes.
Good lord, I'll give leeway to like Okada and Omega
because that's a big match, But thirty minutes, even though
(15:25):
it was a good match, but maybe not thirty, maybe
twenty and let the main event get thirty they got
thirty five.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
Yeah, with like you know the Russellmania forty theatrics as well.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Yeah, yeah, that's it's just too damn long. But with
that said, though, we do have a new AW World
Heavyweight Champion. His name is Hangman Adam Page. He did
defeat John Mockley after this thirty five minute match at
the Texas Death Match, which had all kinds of shenanigans,
all kinds of run ins like Wrressellmania forty did a
year or so ago. Over year ago, I should said
at this time and at the end, despite all the
(15:59):
violent ones including uh stabbing that happened like legit stabbing.
He stabbed that man in the forehead with a fork
where immediately blood shot out of his head, which is
like that was kind of that was not kind of.
It was gruesome, Like I don't think I've ever seen
that in my life. Somebody just gets stabbed and you
see the blood rushing out of their head immediately, and
(16:21):
that could have gone wrong? Would it be like hit
it too hard? Like I don't know. I don't know
how Renee Pee puts up with this at this point.
I know she tweets it every time, like what WTF.
I don't know she even means to that end at
this point, because it happens all the time, and she
sits back there knowing that her who her husband is.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
It has to be a bit at this point.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
She knows who that man is, she married that man,
she knows she's had he's had spikes in him, He's
had like nails and all kinds of stuff done to him.
He think he's not gonna do something for the biggest
show of the year.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Right, And as the viewer, you're probably thinking the same thing.
And then you just scroll Twitter and you see his
wife say what you're thinking, and it's just hilarious.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
I just how far do you have to push it?
Speaker 2 (17:02):
Man?
Speaker 1 (17:02):
If you don't have to push it this far, that's
all I'm saying, you can you can do other stuff.
But the match of stuff was still good and it's
I think the outcome was the best possible outcome. And
Adam Page went in the title and taking the title
out of the briefcase, which was in the briefcase for
no apparent reason other than to do heal things.
Speaker 4 (17:19):
You can't see it now, and that was it. So
I thought the winner's match.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
The celebration the way Cody did, he should have gotten
everyone coming out.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
And he got swart Strickling looking at him very happily,
like I did my job. That's now, I mean going
around swearst Trickling. But this was probably my best match
on the show. Oh no, actually I would take that back.
It has to be the women's title match. Actually it
was the best match of the night.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
Which actually, in my opinions, the outcome I didn't see
coming out of all the matches.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
Yeah, and I thought it was gonna be.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Knocking Mercedes Bognet. But I'm like, oh, okay, yeah, she's
definitely winning the world title here, and not that I
thought that Tony should win her. Oh Mercedes Bronado does
a job or whatever. I was just like, okay, I
don't think Mercedes is losing here. And when they did it,
I was shots and I might be in the minority
on that because I think a lot of people thought
Tony would win here, have that big win and have
(18:15):
Mercedes first, like big loss.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
And you know that.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Once it happened, I was like, oh my god, I
actually had a legit WTF reaction in a good way.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
And it only went twenty four minutes. Look at that,
which is like an hour for a women's match on
AW show. They don't get nearly this much time typically,
But I'm okay with the outcome. I agreed that having
Mercedes win was kind of like, oh, okay, he's gonna
keep having collecting every belt there is imaginable. But I
think having her first loss happening at this moment to
(18:47):
Tony Storm makes perfect sense when you really think about it,
So I think it was the right outcome for all involved.
Mercedes money will be fine, obviously, She's still got seventeen
titles on round her waist, so she'll be all right.
Speaker 4 (18:58):
And what's next with Tony Storm? Who knows.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
But there's a number one contender down the line, and
that's Athena, who, finally, after Ages and Ages, is apparently
on AW full time now, or at least it's going
to be appearing more as the Ring of Honor Women's Champion.
But why it took so long, don't know. But they
(19:21):
got a show to her home state, a stadium show
in her home state, she got due to Gauntlet.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
And she won finally.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
It's all I got to say. It's like, what took
so damn long? Honestly, like great moment for her, but
it probably could have happened last year, could have easily
done it six months ago. But here we are also
last consequential thing that I want to talk about. At
least you can bring up other things if you want.
The young Bucks in storyline are no longer the EVPs. Wow,
So there's that. I don't know what happens now. Maybe
(19:51):
they go away for a while again and we don't
see them anymore.
Speaker 4 (19:54):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
We would be so lucky.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Anything. I know everyone liked their.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Entrance, and I didn't like the entrance. It dragged one
way too long. And the joke, the joke, the same
joke was playing out for the same for the length
of time. It was too long, and it was the
same joke over and over again.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
This is what they do.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
It just took forever. I'm good, Like we got it.
You're being the revolutionary founding fathers who also owned slaves,
which also disboves me the wrong way.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
So I can't I just.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Can't get behind this.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
I'm sorry, Like they really were bad guys to people
like me, so not just wrestling villains, but those people
were also bad people too.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
But yeah, there's that. Also, Adam Copeland came back.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
Oh, it took forever, but he did. Dude.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
I was literally watching them, like, how can anyone just
watch what's happening right now and think it's good entertainment.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
It's real bad, bro, It's bad.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Don't understand it. And I don't know if it's a
bit at this point. A lot of things are bits
at this point, but just running out to the edge
and just I don't get it, dude. They could have
easily killed Christian. I mean in the meantime. So I
did like the go find yourself line though I.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
Thought that was good because I did like that as well.
Speaker 3 (21:16):
It makes sense for him not to be like, Okay,
we're buddy, buddy, you know they Christian's got to earn that.
It reminded me of Kevin Nash and Scott Hall and
WCW in ninety eight, where you know, Scott Hall suddenly
people liked again he was a good guy and they
thought him and Kevin would just reunite, but they did
the slow burn. So looking forward to see how that
(21:36):
plays out. Even though I don't really care about Edgine
Christian team and AW, but it's something that I might
pay attention to when I'm watching. I think Dustin Rhoades
winning the tant title was a nice moment. That's cool,
that's about It sucks with Adam Cole is.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
Oh yeah, we can't forget about that.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Yeah, it was kind of like Adam Cole, I don't
I haven't seen any word, like official word on what
he neither.
Speaker 4 (22:03):
Is going on with him.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
Hopefully you know, he can bounce back from it, but
it sounds he's he When you see him out there,
you can't physically tell what's going on. So it's almost
scarier than seeing a cast on his arm or like
you know, a boot in his foot. So it's like,
what particularly is it that is preventing him from working
the biggest show of the year, the Championship match. Like
(22:26):
that you can't visibly see was ailing.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Him where the the previous day I think, you know,
Tony Adams said like the plan was for him to
wrestle and he just wasn't cleared that day, and I
wonder I did see a clip and you know, we
don't know this because he wrestled after this happened, But
a couple of weeks ago he got power bombed outside
the ring and his head hit the apron, but he didn't.
(22:55):
He didn't take like a back bump on the apron
like he Kyle Fletcher power bombed him and to the
floor as he was going his head hit the ring apron,
So did he hurt his head? He did wrestle after
that though, So it's just something that just kind of
came up or was it bothering him during the chorus
(23:16):
then it just got too much. I don't know, but
that was a clip floating around again, unsubstantiated at this
point because we don't know nothing has been reported or
confirmed by anybody of what the reason is. But yeah,
that was a tough promo to watch.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Yeah, Lincos, the PA's own Adam cole Man shout out
to him. Hopefully he's back soon. It's been a rough
couple of years for him injury wise, and it's completely
halted the momentum of his career. Even when he is around,
you can tell it's just not quite the same and
it sucks because of the you know, just the lack
of a clean bill of health wrestling wise. So hopefully
(23:58):
he can get back to one hundred percent because that's
what derailed the whole angle with him and m J
F two like that was fit to take off because
he's going to turn heel and who knows where that
could have taken him as far as uh, you know,
his star power, but you know things can keep getting
thrown in away man, So hopefully you keep your head
up at him and we're pulling for you.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
Man, get back street Shoo Yeah yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Likencolshire pas On Adam cool, but back to edging Christian
real quick. Uh when they do renay for one, we
won for a second edge doing his whole entrance when
they could have squashed Christians head like a melon is wild.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
He ran to the fans. He's like yeah, come on, yeah,
like bro, yeah, Helmie his face first on the.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
Ground, so maybe he was like you know what, I don't.
I don't care if they kill him, but I guess.
But then they haven't done it yet. That I'll I
guess I'll save them.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
They haven't done it yet. Like then he shoots off
the pyro like yes, like it's in the ring, bro,
he's in the compromised.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
Position right now.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
I gave that because I was like, okay, let him
play to the crowd and then he'll run down. But
they needed the pyro. Okay, I'm officially out on this.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
You gotta get gotta have some urgency, bro, I know
it's a big show. And then got to get a
chance to do the big Pyro, you know. I guess
it's another opportunity to do so, but come on, we
got to do better than that for our boy Christian.
But number two, Uh, will they if they reunite, which
I think we assume they will, will they enter through
(25:33):
the crowd again they did back in w W.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
I need the five second posts.
Speaker 4 (25:39):
Oh yeah, we need to. We need to.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
We need to definitely need the five second posse. I
was gonna say we need to Bill buckaner one, but
Bill Buckner no longer with us, so I don't want
to disrespect you know, somebody has passed on. But there's
classics in there. They can run back if they wanted to. No, yeah,
it's probably for the best. I don't I don't know
(26:03):
where you're going, but it's probably for the best. Okay,
let's move on. Anything else from let me any anything
else from all in by the way, before we move
on to Saturday night's main event.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
Nothing that I really care to expand on.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
All right, all right, let's move on to what apparently
was the fortieth edition of Saturday Nights Main Event.
Speaker 4 (26:32):
I did not know. Damn, look at that. How about that?
Speaker 1 (26:35):
And it was a big one. It was in Atlanta
and it was well, I mean it was a big one.
That's the final match in.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
The career of Bill Goldberg.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
Well, at least he got some fanfare for a final match.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
He did at the fortieth Saturday Nights Main Event.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Well, come on, he did get if you see hear
him today.
Speaker 4 (27:00):
Oh I did not. He's he's not happy with it.
Speaker 3 (27:02):
Well, just the way the preparation of everything, like obviously
getting and.
Speaker 4 (27:06):
Stuff like, well, yeah, that's tough.
Speaker 3 (27:08):
He felt like it was. It's like okay, but didn't
get cut off on Peacock. I mean I was watching
on NBC.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
It did.
Speaker 4 (27:14):
It got cut off.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
Yeah, see that's that's weird to me.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
It's real bad.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
Why would you cut that off on Peacock.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
I don't know how. That makes no sense, at least
when I was watching it. It cut off. So like,
I don't know if they came back, because sometimes I
think they'll go away and come back.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
I don't know, but it definitely cut off on NBC.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
They they I think Goldberg was like getting up after
the match, and then they went to a commercial, and
then when they came back, he was in the ring
with all the people with the microphone talking and then.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
And then they cut out. Yeah, which is like they
got that they prioritize the commercials over Goldberg.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Yeah, but they were.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
There were a couple of times where I thought he
was done talking but then but I think obviously he
was taking like a breather.
Speaker 4 (27:52):
Or something, but he's tired. Homeboy was tired.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
It just felt like, Okay, this is the end, and
then go down. Oh wait, he's talking again. Okay, this
is h wait. So uh, maybe they were thinking the
same thing. They're like, all right, get this guy out
of here, because I know, we told we gave him
thirty seconds and he's taking like forty five seconds.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
So that's it.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
But really weird ending, but it was an ending. Nonetheless,
Gunther fended off Goldberg and we tained the World Heavyweight Championship,
Goldberg losing in his final match, which is what was
going to happen. I was bound to happen, and he
rides off to the Sunset awkward promo after the manchianaw Uh.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
There was a tagline for this show.
Speaker 3 (28:35):
Uh, no one spared. Everyone spared. Oh never heard them
say that.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
But oh, I guess Guntha was spared. He didn't lose,
so he's fine. And then he hung out in the
rafts like Sting in on raw the next night. So
it's like nineteen ninety seven ws W all over again.
We got Goldberg and we got Gunther slash Sting. The
real Sting looks like Santa Claus. Now, by the way,
have you seen Sting I did with the gray hair,
(29:03):
which is like, okay, we're that natural care color, and
then with the like the white beard to go along
with the face paint. It actually looks kind of dope.
Like I think we can get a run out of
old Man Sting.
Speaker 4 (29:17):
He might have a good run in them as old
Man's Sting.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
Uh, you can sell some merch and make sell some
action figures an old Man's Sting. There's some money there.
Team run oh Man for the ages. They look they
can win the tag title together. Sting wanted with Darby Allen.
He can win with a couple of Goldberg spears. He
can beat top well not top flight, who is a
jet speed. Goldburg can go to a w and they
(29:41):
can beat jet Speed for the tag titles at some point.
So there you go, moving on anything else from Goldburg
and gunthar by the way that stood out to you,
or maybe the end of Goldberg's career for that matter,
we should probably talk about that too.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
I mean, it's fine, it's fine.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
Well, I mean, Goldberg had a good run in WSW
and he had a great run in ww He's a
man like he was dope. Like watching old Goldberg highlights
reminded me of why he was the man like he
was dope and why Bobby he didn't called him literally
the man like because he was. He was awesome. He
was The spear was incredible. Who else did the spear
(30:22):
before Goldberg? That made it look cool with nobody. I
don't think anybody did a spear before Goldberg.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
And that's the thing, like he just never learned how
to work. And I know that sounds bad, but I'm
sure wrestling fans know what I'm talking about, because it's like, okay,
like that looks devastating, but everything else he did was
like stiff, and it's like people aren't going to work
with you, man. And you know, obviously what happened with
(30:47):
Brett and he's not the only guy, but say, man,
he could have been.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
What if he I don't even.
Speaker 3 (30:55):
Want to say longer career because he did go to
w W in two thousand and three for a year
and he was fine there. But yeah, at the top
of his game in WCW, man, I don't think like
I didn't. I didn't appreciate it at the time because again,
I was a pro WWF guy and I looked at
him as a stole cold rip off and it's like
I didn't want to be good, blah blah blah. You know,
(31:17):
there's no denying the crowd when he would come out. Man,
the crowd just became on glued every time. It was
something that w w WW WCW kind of backed into
because I didn't even hear that dude, you know, like
he wasn't in w W before, he wasn't in ECW even.
(31:38):
It was just this random ex football player on WCW,
like no one cares about him. And again, I think
they built it really well.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
We do it.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Like inflating the numbers was stupid, but I mean, like,
he come out on Saturday night and people will go crazy.
So uh, he only did that for a little bit.
Once he started to get more popular, they we're like, okay,
you don't have to do Saturday Night, but yeah, he's
done with this and thunder he was just like incredible.
Speaker 4 (32:09):
So he was a phenomenon honestly for like, yeah, maybe
a two three year stretch. I mean from ninety eight
to two thousands. That's about two years. I mean ninety seven.
Well throw some ninety seven in there.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
I guess, you know, he was he was he fighting,
not fighting, going against Steve McMichael for the Super Bowl
ring in ninety seven. But so let's give him ninety
eight through I guess two thousand. We don't have to
count two thousand and one. And it wasn't all great
in ninety nine to two thousand. Obviously, for that year
ninety eight, he was a phenomenon, Like he was on
the cover of magazines like Mainstream Star.
Speaker 4 (32:41):
He came along.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
He was a phenomenon at a time where wrestling was
also pretty much at his peak popularity wise, at least
to that point. Wrestling had never been more popular with
the mainstream than it was in the late nineties, right,
even though it had his peak periods before that. I
understand it, you know, Dad been in television helped wrestling
in the territory was very popular. But like when you
(33:02):
had wrestlers on the cover of Entertainment Weekly, a TV guide,
that's a different level of fame there, and that's what
guys like Steve Austin in the Rock and Goldberg enjoyed
during that time because of where wrestling was and what
they were doing. Obviously, so you gotta give him his props.
And when I watch his matches from that time, it
still gives you like goosebumps a little bit when you
(33:24):
see that entrance. At least now, when the bell rings,
it's okay, it's fine. But when he hits that jack
camer in that spear, the people jumping out their chairs. Bro,
they'd be going crazy for him when he was at
his peak, just hitting people with jack camers and spirits,
and people were like, well, he didn't do a whole lot.
Speaker 4 (33:40):
Well, he didn't have to.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
For one, he was legitimately a D one college athlete
and a former NFL football player, which already put him
as far as the top percentile, top one percentile as
far as athlete in w's w and all of wrestling,
just pure athlete. You can go back and see clips
of him doing standing at nearly three hundred pounds. Bro,
(34:03):
that's insane, okay. And then he so he had that
credibility of an athlete, and you know, you played defensive line.
You're not a punk, you know, so you got to
be able to at least handle yourself and least be
able to move people around against their will.
Speaker 4 (34:21):
So he didn't. Why would he have to learn the
whole lot more?
Speaker 1 (34:24):
He was the man like, what if you didn't, if
you only do one task and with one button at
work and you got paid six figures every day pretty
much just did this one button, You're not going to
ask for more work, You're gonna ask more responsibility. And
I'm sure he did the best he could, and he
did what he thought was best at times with just
(34:44):
steamroll people, and that wasn't always what.
Speaker 4 (34:46):
Was best every time.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
But I don't necessarily blame him for his lack of skill,
maybe his lack of development, you know, overall, like over time,
like maybe about oh three, he probably should have been
further along than what he was. But in WW he
was young. He didn't know anything better, and he was
just going with the flow. Like he said, I've seen
him saying in interviews, you're just going with the flow.
(35:07):
So they told me to spear and Jack Harry and somebody.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
I did that.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
What more do I need to do?
Speaker 1 (35:11):
I just got my I just do my job, clock in,
clock out, get paid, go home, and buy yacht, and
I'm gonna do so. But again, I understand the criticism
against him, and I understand why Hart of all people
is not a fan of his.
Speaker 4 (35:25):
I do understand it.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
But you know, he deserved I think he deserved that
one last go at it, like in this style in Atlanta.
It made perfect sense, and I think he got a
good send off. You better have one when you're going
against Goldberg and not Goldberg gnther, because if you don't,
then something wrong with you. Because gun Through is one
of the best, speaking of one of the best. WW
may be without him for a while maybe, And that
(35:50):
is Seth Rollins, who is missing money in the bank.
Speaker 4 (35:53):
He's also the leader of what they.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
Call the empire, I believe, which is like this man,
I thought Roman Rings had the empire or moment empire
and all that, like whatever. I feel like I heard
that in a podcast somewhere, okay, But either way, him
and brown Burger and Bronson Vie. They're running things over
on Raw with Paul Hammond right, he's the Oracle, which
I do like that name. That's a good name for him.
Speaker 4 (36:17):
But they're running things there.
Speaker 1 (36:20):
Looks like they're poised to cash in for the world
title anytime. Like it's just a matter of when, not
if he's gonna win it back Seth Rolins, that is
winning the world title back, not when not if. It's
a matter of when they choose to pull that trigger.
But unfortunately on Saturday, it looked like at least that
Seth Rolands suffered a serious knee injury to where he
(36:42):
landed after he did that, I believe at backflip off
the ropes, landed on his feet and then immediately went
to the ground and grabbed his leg slash knee area
and l A. Knight is like, what's going on the
referees backing them off, He's talking to Seth la Knight
hits him with a bench with the BFT and they
end the match right in and there so and then
(37:04):
Seth Rodlins has helped out, not under his own power,
and apparently he was seeing that evolution with crutches and
I think a cast or boots somewhere. We don't know
the extent of his injury, if he has a real injury,
because some people are still doubting that maybe it's a work.
Speaker 4 (37:17):
We don't know.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
But if it is real and Seth Rollins is indeed injured,
that sucks. Needless to say, that really really sucks because
he's leading the Probably the best thing going to WWE
right now is this group they got going, and I'm
(37:39):
really really interested in seeing where this is going. I'm
really interested. I'm invested in this story and what they're
gonna do with Seth, how he's gonna maybe pass in.
And then you got Roman Reigns. We will talk about
him in a little bit. He's got to get his
look back from the Paul ham and stuff at WrestleMania.
They still haven't really fully resolved that. You also got
the maturation of the relationship between Seth and Paul Hammond.
(38:02):
How does that work out? But you also got Bronson
Reed and not brons Strumm and bron Breaker and how
did they become more of themselves in the group, Like
how did they develop as bigg as stars because right
now they look you know, in theory they could just
be a tag team, which is that's happened a lot,
and they can kind of play the background. But bron
Breaker was an interconnimal champion not that long ago and
(38:24):
could easily challenge for the world title tomorrow if you
put him in that spot, right, he seems destined for
that role. But now he's not the main guy in
his group all of a sudden, So how do they
develop him? And seeing him in Bronson redeveloped chemistry?
Speaker 4 (38:37):
They got a tag team mentions, now they got music,
they got matching gear. Oh, they ready to rock.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
And then this happens and it's like, okay, damn your thoughts, Nick?
Speaker 3 (38:49):
Yeah, I mean I'll never always assume it's at work.
But again, I'll never think that. When I first watched it,
I was like, okay, legit. You know, like Seth's just
thinking on his uh what's the word. What's the phrase?
(39:10):
Thinking on your Like? Now, what's the phrase of when
you're thinking ahead? I guess thick it ahead. There's a
specific phrase that I'm thinking of that I don't.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
That I forget.
Speaker 4 (39:22):
Its escaping me as well?
Speaker 2 (39:25):
Thinking on his toes, I guess.
Speaker 1 (39:27):
Think yeah, well yeah, yeah, thinking on your toes even
though he could have a leg injury. I don't know,
all right, probably thinking on one the toes on one foot,
not the other.
Speaker 3 (39:36):
Like I noticed, I've watched this back and I just
noticed how calm he was. So you said it, he's
he's the one of the hottest things going, if not
the hottest thing going in the company right now. If
he felt something that he thought, would you know, be
a big deal that he's like, oh crap, I'm going
(39:58):
to be out. Would he have showed more emotion because
to me it seems like a little bit too calm,
And I don't like the conspiracy theory stuff. I don't
like the works. Oh it's a work. Everything's a work.
But now I'm like, okay, if there's a way they
would have made it look real, it was that because
(40:21):
him coming back to cash and would like shock everyone
if it was at Summerslant.
Speaker 1 (40:26):
Yeah, if this is a work, it'd be brilliant, it'd
be brilliant. They did address it on the show. All
we'll talk about wrong in general in the second but
they did address it on the show.
Speaker 4 (40:38):
They didn't have an update.
Speaker 2 (40:40):
Which makes me think even more like.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
Paul Hamman is sent out to deliver it to talk
to say that there's no update. They can just have
Michael Cole say that on comment, you know, or send
out a social media post or something like that.
Speaker 4 (40:54):
Something a little more official. But when you have.
Speaker 1 (40:56):
Paul Haman like, we don't have an update right now,
so sorry, it's like work.
Speaker 4 (41:01):
But we don't know. We don't know.
Speaker 3 (41:03):
I'm not gonna they're doing it on purpose to make
us think it's work, but it's real. It's possible they're
doing that.
Speaker 4 (41:07):
They're working to work, so it's a shoot, but it
could be a work. Still.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
We gotta work to shoot to get back to a work,
but don't end up in a shoot when you do that,
though you can. You can work yourself into a shoot.
That's that's when it's a slippery slope. Okay, we got
to work to work to get to the shoot, to
get back to the work, and then you shoot it.
Speaker 4 (41:25):
Okay. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (41:27):
Unless of the way La Knight looked it was like,
you know, that's how they probably like in the back,
you're like, hey, you gotta look like this. That would
be how exactly the way La Knight looks if he
was told to look that way.
Speaker 2 (41:39):
That's how he will look.
Speaker 4 (41:40):
I don't Oh my god, he was told to have
that genuine reaction. Of course you would have that.
Speaker 3 (41:48):
Actually you would say the F word and leave the
ring and not really sorry because you're angry that stuff
got hurt, like he.
Speaker 4 (41:55):
Did everything you're supposed to do.
Speaker 2 (41:56):
Oh yeah, exactly, that's crazy.
Speaker 1 (42:00):
I will say, sometimes people get injured, you don't freak out.
Sometimes that's true. You know, maybe there's not a whole
lot of pain. You just don't have feeling there. You
know something's wrong, you know. Sometimes you know you're not
in a complete pant like live More when you heard
her it was an elbow shoulder.
Speaker 4 (42:16):
She is rising in pain.
Speaker 1 (42:17):
Right, It doesn't always happen with everybody, depending on the injury,
depending on your pain tolerance, and depending on Sometimes this
ain't if this is a knee injury per se, this
wouldn't be Seth Rollins's first knee injury, and it wouldn't
be his firs knee injury in the ring during a match,
you know. So if that's the case, he's kind of
been here before and he's like damn, you know, like
(42:39):
and now it's probably I don't know, But then you
can have like a Ty Halliburton situation where he pops
his achilles in Game seven and he's on the floor
just in tears, screaming no please, no, Like.
Speaker 4 (42:52):
Depends, I think it just I think it depends.
Speaker 1 (42:54):
But I mean the wrestling fans, I don't stop wrestling
fans of putting on the ten foil hat and diving
into the conspiracy theories, which part of me likes to
dive into it.
Speaker 4 (43:02):
I'm not gonna lie, but but but but sometimes it's like,
all right, it's it's not that deep.
Speaker 1 (43:08):
But the fact that we don't have any confirmation or anything,
it's gonna drive that those conversations until we get actual
confirmation whether we here. If we don't hear anything about
Seth within the next week or so, we might it
might be a work like because if he has an MRI,
you usually don't have Like in football, God gets it.
He hears his MEE on Sunday, he get it, gets
(43:30):
an MRI on Monday. You know by Monday afternoon whether
a's a torn ACL, torn petella, torn MCL, whatever the
case may be, and whether he needs surgery or not.
So it's Nike, you know right now to be courts
on Tuesday. We wouldn't have news if it was a
knee injury, per se. We don't know what the extent
of it is. So the fact that there's still no
official word is like, hmm, cause it's been two it's
(43:53):
been three days. He could have saw a doctor yesterday
Monday and then gotten results back. So unless again, I'm
not a doctor, I'm just going off of sports, sports injuries,
I guess. And how quickly usually you hear about a
guy hurting himself over the weekend, getting it in my rye,
and how fast that news turns around. So and and
it's confirmed, you know, not like just speculation. You know,
(44:15):
it's confirmed from professionals. And the team sends out a
press release, holds a press conference saying the quarterback is
off of the season because he tore he tours labor
and he's done. That happens on Monday, you know, Like
it doesn't happen Wednesday or Thursday. So again at the latest,
that happens on Tuesday at the latest. So we'll see
(44:35):
with Seth Ronalds. Hopefully he is healthy and we are
all wrong and he cashes in by surprise and he
goes got y'all and be like, damn, they really did that.
Speaker 2 (44:45):
How would you.
Speaker 3 (44:47):
Like his other his previous cash in, you know, how
could you one up that? Maybe this? You know, they
tell him, you know, this is all work. They'd be like, yo,
you go out there and you sell this injury and
you act like you're changing the outcome of the match.
Talked to Paul, bring the doctor over, talk to them.
Speaker 2 (45:08):
But he did take a move.
Speaker 1 (45:10):
He took a move after which if the guy is hurt,
like we live Morgan when she was hurt, she didn't
do anything else in the match. They called it off.
He calls an audible, which we talked about audibles. I
don't know people think just call an audible.
Speaker 4 (45:24):
I don't know how many times it actually happens.
Speaker 3 (45:27):
So as soon as he's started talking to Paul, like
I'm watching it live and I'm like, okay, like he's
changing the finish, she's hurt. It's like, you know, I
was like, damn, but you know that's my incent reaction.
And then I go on line and of course everyone's like, oh,
it looks like a work, looks like a work. It's like,
I possibly look like a work. And then I just
watched it back and I'm like, okay, I can see
it there.
Speaker 4 (45:48):
You hard enough.
Speaker 1 (45:50):
You look hard enough, you see you can probably see
a work in anything. It's true, you look hard enough.
So it is interesting. Again we say all this, it's
kind of fun, but hopefully it is us fun and
not a serious injury for Seth Robin so because not
only for our personal entertainment and enjoyment of the product,
for him obviously too, because that if he is severely
(46:13):
hurt with like a knee or something like that, that's rehab,
that surgery, and that's time and that's time off of
your career essentially that you're missing out on. So hopefully
that is not the case and he is perfectly fine.
But anything else from Saturday night's main event that stuck
out to you.
Speaker 3 (46:29):
So that kind of leads me to what happened on
Raw last night. I do I want to say that.
Speaker 4 (46:33):
We can we can talk about it now. We can
talk Yeah, we can talk about it now. Since we're here.
Speaker 3 (46:37):
Guess who is facing Gunthor for the world heavyweight title.
That's summer slab.
Speaker 1 (46:43):
Oh our boy Phil Brooks. See him punk at it
as we go ahead.
Speaker 3 (46:49):
If there's a chance that he's somehow confor who has
the money in the back griecase to take that title
away from him, because as long as there's Aaron Seth
Rollin's lungs, seem Punk will never be a champion.
Speaker 1 (47:07):
Well he had to, and you're a scenario Seampunk wins first,
which correct, I would say he wouldn't. He would be
in position to win. Seth cashes in or like Bronson me,
Bron Breaker come in, beat him up, and then he
cashes in and pins Seth to make it a triple threat.
I mean, we just kind of did a triple threat
thing with Naomi, which we'll talk about, but.
Speaker 4 (47:28):
Man, this will feel a lot more personal.
Speaker 3 (47:30):
Because I think that's what brings it full circle for
me in terms of it's a work because Punk winning,
Like I kind of saw the way they were telling
that story on Raw where broad Breaker was. I was like, Oh,
he's gonna go through the gauntlet and if Punk is last,
you know, he's probably gonna beat him. Because broad Breaker
(47:50):
versus Cuthor, I don't think is a Summer Slam, like
I mean, I guess it is, but like with two Heels,
it's one of those things where I'm like, if Bron's
a heel, like I think he would be better supert
against a straight babyface, you know, for that spot, or
if he was the straight babyface, he would play a heel.
I don't know if the heel versus heal thing. I
don't know if I'd be into that, but I don't
(48:11):
think it would take. I don't think they would not
do that if they wanted to. But for me, I
was always like, okay, seeing Punk's gonna win, and he did,
and to me, I'm like, if he wins, like the
Seth thing, like you know, he's got the title, shot
another one and he came out on his last one
at night of Champions, and you know, I don't know
(48:33):
if it is a legit injury for Seth. I don't
know how they I don't know if it would fit
into the story. But for me, I'm thinking like story
and I'm thinking like Seth and Punk story and the
next logical step. I guess if they're continuing to tell
the story, because it's definitely not over and would be
like Punks in position to win a title again, but
(48:56):
this time, you know, Seth is far from everyone's minds
because he's out hurt and then comes back and catches
into once again make sure Seampunk was not the champion,
so I could see that happen as well. And I
kind of want that to happen because I think my reaction,
(49:16):
even though I would be like, oh, I predicted that,
I would still freak out watching it live.
Speaker 1 (49:21):
Probably yeah, we'll see I guess you know, if he's
healthy right now, how can you get see him punk
into that match?
Speaker 2 (49:29):
Right? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (49:30):
Because Seth Ronalds just.
Speaker 1 (49:31):
Screw him out of winning the match even like he
shouldn't even get to the title shot. And if he's
healthy and to say see him punk wins somehow will
it'd be really obvious that Seth Violands is going to
cash in, right, So maybe maybe again this is us
pretending that Seth Rolands is perfectly healthy. In reality, maybe
(49:52):
having an injury angle can help you forget about Seth Rollins.
But until we get confirmation on something, we're not going
to figure it about South Robinson. I need some type
of confirmation. I ain't gonna just forget all right. I
know some people might they lack critical thinking.
Speaker 2 (50:07):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (50:08):
I can remember things I remember. We don't forget about that.
We saw that happen in these explained whether it's real
or not.
Speaker 4 (50:19):
Gotta remember that.
Speaker 1 (50:21):
So it was on television Saturday nights main event, National TV, NBC,
so we need to know. Shall we move on now
to Evolution.
Speaker 3 (50:33):
Perhaps the highlight of the weekend. I know all in
was great, but yes, I don't think I think the
feelings going in an Evolution where it was like, h
it's just you know, there of reporters that the women
weren't happy with the build and everything right from what build,
but man, talk about underwhelming going in and just incredible.
(50:59):
I've heard people say it was the best pay per
view of the year so far.
Speaker 1 (51:02):
WWE deathly Yeah, I've heard I saw that a lot
as well. And when you think about it, though, it's
not a super high bar to clear for.
Speaker 4 (51:10):
Twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (51:11):
I feel like twenty twenty four had some really good
ones form WWE yeah WW and twenty twenty five has
had some stinkers. When you really want to be honest
with you're honest about it.
Speaker 2 (51:21):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (51:21):
WrestleMania leading away, at least the main event did. There
were some bangers, but like for the most part, WrestleMania
was an It was a so soociow and the elimination
Chamber had the big turn at the end. Like there's
been some moments, but from top to bottom, this is
ww's best pl so far this year.
Speaker 3 (51:39):
A lot less commercializing as well. It's probably played into
it well. It did have to slim gym table still
for j Carl, Like you know, there weren't somebody breaks
in between matches stuff like that. Everything flowed a little
bit better, not this five minute video packages like why
do we need this on a pay per view?
Speaker 4 (51:59):
But whatever, Well, catch people up, I guess.
Speaker 1 (52:02):
But a big moment coming out of this show, of course,
is Naomi who was miss money in the bank cashing
in during the main event. A stellar main event by
the way, between Rea Ripley and Eel Sky, who just
have a natural chemistry together in that ring that's hard
to find between anybody, and they have a magic together
(52:24):
that and though Bianca too because they had the great
triple threat match of WrestleMania. I don't want to leave
her out of it as well. But and you're gonna
have another one soon. They just swapped by one black
woman for another apparently, but ri Ripley el Skott tear
the house down. But at near the end Naomi comes
out with the briefcase cash is in and pins I
believe Eel Sky, making it a trip of threat, pinning
(52:48):
Eel Sky to become the new Women's World Champion, which
moves Naomi, I guess to Raw. Now she was a
SmackDown person alongside her husband Jimmy Usso, so what does
that mean for Jimmy USA. Is he moving to Raw
with her and teaming up with Jay? I don't know,
We'll see, but she's on Raw at least for the
(53:10):
time being, defending this title and spinning it forward. Naomi
will defend said title at SummerSlam against EO Sky and
Rear Rippley in a triple threat match, which I'm sure
will also tear the house down. Nick, your thoughts first
on Naomi winning yet another world championship, first time being
(53:32):
the Women's World Champion. That's specific title, but not her
first world championship. But your thoughts on Naomi winning the title.
Speaker 3 (53:39):
I remember on the roundtable a few weeks ago, I
had mentioned, Yeah, I think you know Jade will win
the title at SummerSlam, and then that's when Naomi oh
cash it. I was like married to that idea. So
when Nayoma came out during this maatch. I was like
completely shocked. I just didn't expect it because I was like, oh, like,
(54:00):
Jade's gonna win the title and they always gonna cash
on on her, and you know again they I guess
they had their blowoff at Yeah Evolution because Jade won
clean and that's why I was like, Okay, Alway's gonna
get a revenge.
Speaker 2 (54:14):
And she did. It just didn't include Jade.
Speaker 4 (54:18):
She Yeah. I forgured that.
Speaker 3 (54:19):
Seth Rollins uh WrestleMania thirty one thing where she lost
earlier the way Seth lost to Randy Orton and then
she cashes in at the main.
Speaker 1 (54:27):
Event, and like what they did was Seth Rollins and
Randy Orton. Did they move right to Seth Roninds versus
Randy Orton right after that? I don't think they did.
Maybe they did, I don't remember now, but I don't recall.
I mean, there's a lot of things I don't remember
about twenty fifteen, but they're not going from to Jake
Cargo Naomi, which part of me, if it was thinking,
it was like, okay, well, Jade just beat her.
Speaker 4 (54:46):
So maybe it makes sense.
Speaker 3 (54:49):
I guess maybe they'll call maybe each other WrestleMania the
Royal Rubble. But yeah, they're on different brands now, they're on.
Speaker 1 (54:57):
Different brands, so they're they're separated. Bianca and Jade are
on the same brand though, so we'll get to that.
Speaker 4 (55:02):
But mm hmm. But Naomi is the world champ.
Speaker 1 (55:08):
I believe that even though in storyline, you know, as
a miss Money in the Bank, you kind of steal
the title.
Speaker 4 (55:14):
That's why they do the whole thief in the night.
Speaker 1 (55:16):
Theme for the show, I feel, but in reality, she
earned it, Bro, like she the stuff. The work she's
put in since she turned heel has been excellent, honestly,
I mean bringing out tears and promos, really cutting emotional,
gut wrenching promos and just totally buying into this character.
Even though that she went to tie to that face
(55:37):
she made when she held up the belt, she looked
like the girl from sleep Away Camp. Bro, I don't
know if you ever seen then ending in sleep Away Camp.
Speaker 2 (55:44):
I'm not go look it up.
Speaker 1 (55:46):
Okay, we'll go look at watch the movie because you
don't want know what to just watch the ending, okay,
and let me tell you that right now, you want.
Speaker 4 (55:51):
To watch the whole movie and then see the end.
Speaker 1 (55:54):
It is a hard movie, It is a classic, and
it has a an ending that you'll never forget. So
but the girl feast that I'm talking about here is
very reminiscent of Naomi holding up the title.
Speaker 4 (56:06):
Like, ah, I'm the bad guy.
Speaker 1 (56:09):
See but it worked, actually works, And yeah, I think
Naomi more than earned it. She I think this really
cummits her as a main eventor even though she's been
the world champion before, but you know, she's had times
so she wasn't winning a whole lot. She wasn't really
featured a whole lot. I mean, she's on TV, but
she wasn't really in.
Speaker 4 (56:30):
A prime prominent role.
Speaker 1 (56:32):
This cements her to where you got to keep her
in prominent roles. Now you can't slide her back down
and have her have to put somebody over unless it's
you know, somebody coming up really big. You could still
do it, but not to the level that they've done
it in the past. She's a main event player, she's
been a main event player, but now she's to me,
she's really cemented in that spot and.
Speaker 4 (56:49):
She earned it again.
Speaker 1 (56:50):
She earned this opportunity to run with this ball at
least for a little while and see how far it goes.
Because she's really really done well for herself since turning
heel and the match with Jay Cargo I thought was amazing,
especially because Jake Cargo is inexperience still and to get
a really good match that Jay Cargo may not be
the easiest task in the world. And Naomi did it
(57:13):
because she's dope. She's a pros pro. She's one of
those I call a pros pro. You know what was
a pros pro?
Speaker 4 (57:21):
The miz is in that.
Speaker 2 (57:22):
Category for me.
Speaker 1 (57:24):
A pros pro you can trust in a lot of situations,
and they're reliable in many different situations and they always
want to perform.
Speaker 3 (57:31):
It's not easy, you know. People are like like, you
have to have the mental the mental capacity to be
able to do that.
Speaker 2 (57:39):
It's not easy.
Speaker 1 (57:41):
It is not Naomi is the pros pro of the
women's division, or one of them, I should say, there's many,
but Naomi is among them, and she is the world
champion for the women on raw. Elsewhere in evolution, we
have a number one contender for worthy. I believe it
would be the w W Women's Championship at Clash in
(58:03):
Paris for the women's World for the women's World title. Okay,
Stephanie via Kerre is on raw.
Speaker 3 (58:09):
So Naomi Skyria Ripley, I guess.
Speaker 1 (58:12):
And I think it will be Naomi, And there's a
chance that stephaniey for care may be Naomi, which man,
that's that's that's quick, that'd be quick, be quick, and
making Naomi look like a transition champ.
Speaker 4 (58:26):
Not a fan.
Speaker 1 (58:28):
But they really believe in Stephanie va Care. You clearly
can see that because after she wins, she gets interviewed
by Stephanie McMahon. Spoke Spanish, which I don't know how
good her Spanish was, but she tried. I took French
in school, so I don't know.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
I can't tell Italian.
Speaker 4 (58:45):
Did she sound okay? Okay?
Speaker 1 (58:49):
Well, she interviews her and Stephanie I faker against the
whole Pyal treatment. Naomi did as well.
Speaker 3 (58:55):
It was on mute because I was on a Philly
show recording a show like Good Friend I'll computer had.
It wasn't because I watched I watched it all mute
the entire time. I just have not watched that segment
with the sound aud yet, so I cannot for sure
say whether Stephanie's uh Spattish was good or not.
Speaker 2 (59:12):
So that's the reason. That's the reason.
Speaker 4 (59:14):
That's fine.
Speaker 1 (59:15):
But you don't get interviewed by Stephanie mcmah unless you somebody.
Speaker 3 (59:18):
And I thought it was a pretty long interview, Like
I remember looking a couple of times while I was
recording and it's like, oh, it's still going, Like it
just felt like a long, a long interview.
Speaker 1 (59:28):
And Stephanie afterwards get the Pyro treatment. Stephanie for ker
that is.
Speaker 2 (59:33):
Well, they probably they both didn't.
Speaker 1 (59:35):
Probably, Yeah, I guess they're both out there. But I've
never seen somebody win a Number one Contenders match and
get Pyro shot off for not for at least unless
it's like a Roar rumble, right, Yeah, this is I
guess the Evolution Battle Royal. I guess it is also
very important to get a title match from that too,
just at Clash in Paris. But thoughts on Stephanie for
Carer potentially being the next women's world champion, I guess.
Speaker 3 (59:58):
Yeah, I mean I didn't. I didn't think she would
by any means. I think if she would was eliminated
at some point it's like, okay, that's our next feud,
you know, maybe they'll wait till WrestleMania season to start
pushing her towards it. But nah, man, she's like full
steam ahead. When she lost the NXC title, everyone was shot.
So it just wouldn't surprise me if she sends up
(01:00:19):
really really quickly and if she beats Naomi. But yeah,
I mean like she owns that division. She will own
that division at some point.
Speaker 1 (01:00:34):
It seems like by next year, they're clearly getting the
rocket ready to strap to her. So they're getting the
rocket ready. Speaking of a rocket, they are trying to
put one on Jay Cargill, and she beat Naomi earlier
in the night and well before Naomi Cash and not
just say it evolution, but Jake Cargill, because she won
(01:00:55):
Queen of the Ring is in line for a title
shot and she will get that at SummerSlam against Tiffany
Stratton for the w W Women's Championship. Very interesting matchup
here because neither one of these girls are that experience.
So Tiffany Stratton is the I don't know if she's
the more experienced one, but she's probably the more advanced worker.
Speaker 2 (01:01:18):
But she had the n XT you.
Speaker 4 (01:01:20):
Know, training, she had proper training.
Speaker 3 (01:01:23):
Yeah, for their proper training, right, Yeah, but what they
consider proper.
Speaker 1 (01:01:28):
Yes, yes, what Jay Cargo didn't have that much training
at least not as much as Tiffany Stratton has, So
that's a fair way to put it. Uh, so interesting
to see how this match turns out. It's two fan favorites.
Speaker 3 (01:01:41):
Yeah, which makes me think will there be a special
referee in this one?
Speaker 4 (01:01:45):
Because I don't know the reason for it.
Speaker 3 (01:01:48):
If you lead, if you leave it up to Tiffany
and j like, do you trust them obviously if they
if there's no special referee or anything like, yeah, you
absolutely trust Tiffany to be in that moment and everything.
But it just wouldn't surprise me if Pianka finds her
way in there.
Speaker 1 (01:02:06):
Again, it seems like it after Jay Cargo won at Evolution. Uh,
Bianca Butlair, who's been out with a finger injury. I
think she had broken fingers or at least one, I
should say she's a special referee. And Jay Cargo was
given Beyonca some looks and Bianca wasn't really all but
Jay Cargill, So it's like, what's going on there? What's happening?
(01:02:28):
Is there something going on in the future They're gonna
face off. Something's gonna happen at Summer Slam. Beionca turned
in the heel. Hmm, we'll see, we'll see. But uh,
that match with Tiffany Stratton and Jay Cargo will be interesting.
I think it's a big spot. Obviously it's a big
spot for both of them, but for different reasons. With
Jay Cargo trying to show she can hang in these
(01:02:48):
big spots like this. She has to look for it,
she has to order for it. Can she put on
the match for it? That's what we're going to see
at Summer Slam. This is a big the biggest match
of her career at Summer Slam, which which is kind
of wild to say, but it's true, you know. So
we'll see, we'll see what happens. And Tiffany Stratton, can
she hang with somebody less experienced than her, I guess
(01:03:10):
or less trained in her? Like she's kind of I
guess the vet in this situation. So how does she go?
Speaker 4 (01:03:18):
How does she come along in this situation? We'll see
what kind of promos we're gonna get leading up to this.
Speaker 2 (01:03:23):
Yeah, Like I.
Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
Don't necessarily love Tiffany Stratton promos and Jake Cargo's promos
are okay, good, I think better than Tiffany Stratton, but
not like knocking your socks off out here, not yet.
I think both of them can get to that point
where they're you know, cutting fire promos, but I don't
know if they're there yet, So we'll see. I have
(01:03:44):
high hopes for this scenario that could play out here
at Summer Slam. Any thoughts on Jake Cargo on Tiffany
Stratton and Tiffany Stratton be Tristratus since since we're since
we're here, I should say.
Speaker 3 (01:03:59):
Apparently that's not reportedly not going to be Trisha's last
match this year.
Speaker 4 (01:04:04):
In this year, well, this is a twenty fifth anniversary year.
Speaker 2 (01:04:07):
So yeah, so we'll see.
Speaker 3 (01:04:10):
Sure, we're Survivor Series again San Diego, San Diego, which
is now you know there earlier when they first announced
Serprivor Series war Games was not attached, but it has
since been attached. So it is Survivor Series War Games
this year, so not Toronto. So that's so that's what
I was thinking. I was like, I got, maybe are
they going to Toronto again this year?
Speaker 4 (01:04:31):
That's pet Co.
Speaker 1 (01:04:32):
Park out there, at the home of the Padres and
San Diago.
Speaker 4 (01:04:37):
Hey, man, I like San Diego. I was out there
last year.
Speaker 2 (01:04:39):
We don't have to like the beautifuls that's fair.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
I almost went to I thought about going to taking
a tour of the stadium. They weren't there. Oddly enough,
this has happened twice since I traveled. The Phillies were
actually playing the team in the city that I traveled to,
but in Philly, so that they were playing the Padres
that time, but in Philly. And when I went to
Saint Petersburg last year for or work trip, the Rays
were in town and I was like, there's some nonsense, bro.
(01:05:04):
I want to see a baseball game, and every time
they playing the Phillies, and oh, look at the cheer
for the Phillies in another teams ballpark.
Speaker 4 (01:05:12):
Psych day back, I said, this is a big park.
I think that about to be. I think that's some nonsense. Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:05:21):
Becky Lynch retained the into Continental Intercontinental Championship at Evolutions.
She will defend that title against Lira Valkyria at SummerSlam,
and I'm fully expecting a Lera Valkyria win because I
think they're playing on the long piece. From Becky Lynch's standpoint,
was to help Learra Valkirira get over, which I think
has helped.
Speaker 2 (01:05:39):
I think it's helped well.
Speaker 3 (01:05:41):
And uh, you know, her and Bailey had a great
two out of three falls match on Raw too.
Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
It also helps, so.
Speaker 3 (01:05:47):
I think Bailey's kind of in there as well. It
was like, yeah, like kind of understand why they put
the Icy title on her first now, but just kind
of needed that little boost. And I think she said that,
by the way, we're all last night, first hour and
a half, all women's wrestling.
Speaker 4 (01:06:05):
All women's wrestling.
Speaker 1 (01:06:06):
They kept the Evolution going, which, by the way, Evolution
should just be an annual pay per view, like they
did it only that first time because they had Rond
de Rousey and Vince clearly had no intentions on doing
it a second time because they didn't do it so
and but now, like I feel like, for one, it
shouldn't have been the case back then that you only
did it because of Round the VOLSI should have been
(01:06:27):
doing it. If you're going to do it, but since
you're going to bring it back, you might as well
keep going. It was a critical success at the very least,
and based on you know, the attendance, the intendance wasn't
like a massive crowd because you didn't promote it that well.
But the people that were there were into the show.
(01:06:48):
They were cheering, and it was obviously you hear that
that the pitch of the voices clearly women in the crowd,
like majority young women in the crowd. So like, you
don't have your audiences look like that demographically throughout the year.
I think this is a cool thing that you should
keep going.
Speaker 3 (01:07:06):
And I don't see you losing money, So why no, maney.
Speaker 1 (01:07:12):
Let it be a standalone show. Don't pack up the
weekend like we did this time, because it kind of overshadowed. Yeah,
Goldberg's retirement match, and you did it on the same
weekend as all in. Fortunately they went out there and
put on put out a great show. They put out
a great show, But going in you kind of you
can run the risk of overshadowing it. But going into it,
that's what you want. You want to get people excited
going in.
Speaker 4 (01:07:32):
But there's four of the shows around it.
Speaker 3 (01:07:34):
That's true, and I'm on that side, But I wonder
if they did it this way because they wanted to
the more promotion to be like, hey, we have this
whole weekend.
Speaker 4 (01:07:43):
They did it this way to compete with AW. That's
why I did it this way for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
But AW didn't wasn't on Sunday, so they could have
done it on Saturday if they wanted to. But you know,
I just wonder if they did it because they're this
way to be like, hey, we have a whole weekend
and we're gonna cap it off with this. But again,
that's not how a lot of people took it. I
didn't take it that way. You just hope that next year,
(01:08:10):
if they decided to make this annual, you know, they
really put their foot forward and maybe rely on on
the women that made this event successful and kind of
like ease it, ease the burden. I guess the quote
unquote burden that Nick Cod or Triple H would have
(01:08:32):
just let the women take the forefront. It's not like,
you like, just let them have that. Why not let
them cook? Yeah, exactly, that's it.
Speaker 4 (01:08:42):
Let her cook? Is that?
Speaker 1 (01:08:44):
What Glorilla said in the song is what she said.
I don't have to ask the question, that's what she says.
But yeah, like just let them do their thing and
they put on a great show in some ways, in
a lot of ways, they're more interesting characters on the
roster if you ask me.
Speaker 3 (01:08:56):
Yeah, I mean people were loving the hour and a
half of Just Women's Wrestling last night on.
Speaker 1 (01:09:02):
Raw because for one, Ria Ripley is probably the most
over personal roster.
Speaker 3 (01:09:07):
Exactly there, they are over too. It's not like people
weren't reacting to them either.
Speaker 1 (01:09:11):
You got Naomi is coming into her own as a heel.
Let's not figure. You got jad Cargo and Bianca Plaire,
who are tremendous athletes and just strikingly beautiful. Lil Vikiria
is making a way up the roster, and you still
got vets like Becky Lynch, who's still the man you know,
is still a superstar. Bailey is always reliable and he
(01:09:32):
could easily be a champion at any point. Let's not
forget on the other Like on SmackDown, I guess and
the tag team, they got Charlotte and Alexa Bliss together now,
and Charlotte is getting cheered. That's another big takeaway I
had from Evolutions that Charlotte is working with Alexa Bliss
and it's working because it's not the same ol same O.
Speaker 3 (01:09:54):
Wonder if that player's tribute article.
Speaker 4 (01:09:56):
Helped maybe I'm sure healthy stuff as well, but no,
it might be both.
Speaker 1 (01:10:03):
It could be both because even that article added layers
to Charlotte Flair slash Ashley Flair, which we've never really
had with her. Now, it sucks that she had to
go through a third divorce and in a really bad
knee injury to kind of reveal that's the crux of
the depth, you know, and the pain you know, and
(01:10:23):
you know that sucks. That's stuff, that's the trials and
tripilations of life happening right there.
Speaker 4 (01:10:28):
It sucks that she had to go.
Speaker 1 (01:10:29):
Through that, But revealing these things add depth to her
because we all got stuff like this.
Speaker 4 (01:10:37):
People may not.
Speaker 1 (01:10:38):
Suffer, you know, massive d injuries in front of thousands
of people, but it had to rehabit for a year.
But you know, you get hit heard at work maybe
just like everybody else, you also go through relationship problems
and you have to be more relatable in that sense.
And I feel like Charlotte Flair the Queen was never that.
She never looked unshaken in any moment. Even when she lost,
(01:11:00):
she just went right went it right back, yep, and
it was no change. So now that she has a
little bit of a rink or it's like, oh, look
at that, and then you get to know the real person,
which is somebody who really didn't get to know. There
you go, look at that. Now people like her again.
(01:11:20):
We'll see where it goes with her in Alexa Bliss.
But anything else from Evolution before we flip over to
Monday Night Raw.
Speaker 3 (01:11:27):
I like seeing the Kabookie Warriors back together. You know
that's that's I missed that and I would ask out so,
but yeah, I think we hit on the main the
main ones.
Speaker 1 (01:11:40):
All right, let's flip over to Monday Night Raw, where
we did crown a need number one contender for the
Ward Heavyweight Championship. It is seeing Punk going against Gooted.
I feel like we talked about that quite a bit already. Uh,
but we got We did have bron Breaker running the
gauntlet almost nearly completing it. Clearly they got Plenty as
a homeboy. So it's like I said, it's really interesting
(01:12:02):
to see this group kind of go along with it.
They clearly got plans for keep calling for bron Breaker.
Speaker 2 (01:12:10):
They look and they look white people with no.
Speaker 1 (01:12:16):
Nobody looks like bron Breaker. He's got the tanniest of tans.
Speaker 4 (01:12:20):
Of all time. Bro, it's outrageous, honestly.
Speaker 3 (01:12:23):
Love how like at the beginning where they want to
face to face with or at the beginning of the
segment I should say not the show when he him
a governor face to face and Paul Hayden was hyping
about and Bron's just movements, you know, like it's like
Sazen I love it and laughed so hard.
Speaker 4 (01:12:41):
He's great.
Speaker 1 (01:12:41):
The tan is outrageous though he looks like he looks
like Hogan in ninety seven, like, you gotta cut it out.
Speaker 4 (01:12:47):
You got to cut it out.
Speaker 1 (01:12:48):
Bro. It's it's it's too much. You're not that much son.
I don't care what you're doing. You just it's a
spray tan. It looks bad. You don't want to look
like that.
Speaker 2 (01:12:54):
It does.
Speaker 1 (01:12:55):
You don't want to look like that. Even white people
are like, yo, come on. When white folks are like, hey,
come on, why.
Speaker 4 (01:13:02):
You look like this?
Speaker 1 (01:13:03):
You don't look like that, then you got issues, bro,
because he looked darker than me. All right, this is outrageous,
but Monday Night Raw see him punk new number one contender.
After the match, though, you know, things break loose, things,
people are fighting, you know, that's what things happen after matches,
(01:13:24):
sometimes especially consequential matches. But of course that sets up
for somebody to make a run in. And it's who's
gonna run in? It's your tribal chief, your friendly neighborhood
tribal chief, Roman reigns.
Speaker 4 (01:13:37):
He showed up to work today. He is back, and
I guess he's hanging out.
Speaker 1 (01:13:42):
And see him Punk for a little while, and Jimmy
and Jus. Him and Jus are on the same page
each other up.
Speaker 3 (01:13:50):
But I thought him and Punk would eventually before they
went off the air, but they did not.
Speaker 1 (01:13:54):
Got a little more, a little bit more time before
that happens, you know what I'm saying. But it was nice,
it wasn't I see him and Jay on the same page.
Look at that, Look at that after all that time,
even though Roman rings is a piece.
Speaker 4 (01:14:06):
Of garbage at jay us for many years.
Speaker 3 (01:14:10):
And he came out and he went where straight to
the ring, to the ring, the ring. He wasn't running,
but he still had you know purpose. Yeah, you like
the crowd at all.
Speaker 1 (01:14:21):
It's also not a stadium too, so the purposeful walk
was still like quickly getting to the ring. You know,
it's a brisk pace he was walking at whereas should
have ran. Bro, it's so far you're in the baseball stadium.
Get to the ring, bro.
Speaker 3 (01:14:36):
Though, I will say if Bronson wanted to splash that
he could have still, but you know it still looked
better than you know Edge, it didn't.
Speaker 4 (01:14:44):
Last as long. And yeah, I don't I don't understand
that why.
Speaker 1 (01:14:47):
And wrestling music distracts people from doing the job that
they wanted to do, Like I want to tear this
person up, Like if you had that and sense and
that and raged, you're about pretty much like give somebody
brain trauma. I don't think that's the chords of someone's
song is going to like stop you and get you
out of that move. Like one time, I want somebody
(01:15:08):
to follow through on it despite the music. Like and
they they and the person running down they just missing
the naked shop.
Speaker 3 (01:15:16):
They stop at their tracks and they just stop in
their eye.
Speaker 1 (01:15:19):
Oh no, they just they get to the ring, but
they just it just happens right after like the concerto
power and they get to the ring, no.
Speaker 3 (01:15:28):
Slide into late like like just approaching the rings, sell
the eye on and not even getting in the ring
because you're like what's the point.
Speaker 4 (01:15:36):
They did.
Speaker 2 (01:15:39):
I'm just gonna go back. They go off the air.
Speaker 4 (01:15:44):
I'm call an ambulance now because my hope dead. Now
that's crazy. Too late.
Speaker 1 (01:15:54):
I knew I should have got faster. I should have
took track when I was in high school.
Speaker 2 (01:15:58):
I waited back here for the music. I should right,
I should have.
Speaker 4 (01:16:02):
Just went bro while I wait back here and then
walk only dead. Now look at him. I got my boy.
I apologized to the family not being fast enough.
Speaker 3 (01:16:23):
The cameraman was in my way saw Michaels was right.
Speaker 4 (01:16:27):
My boy going shout out to my dead bro. He's going, man,
that's crazy.
Speaker 1 (01:16:32):
But that's pretty much what happened with Edges. His man's
should have let should have gotten killed.
Speaker 3 (01:16:38):
He made the people in the ring look like goofs
because they stopped and they were waiting for him, and
he looked. They finally had to like leave the ring
to go meet him in the aisle. I forget who.
Speaker 4 (01:16:47):
Was Yeah, I forget who it was. To some guy
who was out there, he was like clearly like right,
I hated it so much. Oh my god, he's pacing.
Speaker 1 (01:16:55):
And then they finally cut to I guess cope, he's
not Adam Cop and he's not Oh gotta remember that.
As he's finally approaching the ring, this guy finally now
he chooses to get out of the ring. He could
have got out of the ring and ran to edge.
As he's shooting off the pyro bro he's looking up
into the sky. You could have been when he looked
back then, and he could have been right there waiting
for him with a punch bow. Instead, you stood there
(01:17:18):
and watched that she shot off the pyro because the
entrance is just too dope for you just to move,
you know. It's like, uh, I don't know if you
ever seen Ken Harley Wait, but like the joke was
like when she entered the room, nobody can move kind
of deal. At least that they did that in the
parody of that movie. I just say it's a dat reference.
It's a dated reference anyway, But pretty much when the
(01:17:39):
music hits in wrestling.
Speaker 4 (01:17:41):
The whole everybody stops. Oh I love this song.
Speaker 1 (01:17:45):
Doesn't make any sense, but it happens in both companies,
or just the fact that they had to wait till
the music hits just to make the entrance. Do they
hit it at a certain time as they're walking out
or are they waiting by the curtain, which is I
mean obviously happening in reality, but like, let's suspend disbelief
here are they just waiting?
Speaker 4 (01:18:02):
Like hit the music?
Speaker 2 (01:18:04):
Can't hit it? Hit a button?
Speaker 3 (01:18:05):
People are like by the music rack, you know, that's
what I call it, the rack. And they they they're like,
if anyone, if anyone, Tony tells them, if anyone runs
past you towards the ring, just play their music.
Speaker 4 (01:18:19):
Just play the music.
Speaker 2 (01:18:20):
That's it.
Speaker 4 (01:18:20):
The music rack.
Speaker 1 (01:18:21):
That sounds like an old timey What are they using
this to play?
Speaker 4 (01:18:26):
Play this with her?
Speaker 1 (01:18:26):
They're using forty fives, they using records. I feel like
it's on a computer and they get to hit a
button at this point.
Speaker 3 (01:18:33):
Right, Well, the rack you've see Major League right, so, yes,
it's the but Rick Vallon makes his entrance and the girls.
Speaker 4 (01:18:41):
And oh that's the second one, Oh the garbage one.
Speaker 3 (01:18:45):
Pedoculars, and she's like it's him and he runs and
puts the wild thing in the the VCR.
Speaker 4 (01:18:51):
Yeah, that's in the early nineties.
Speaker 2 (01:18:53):
Though, That's how I imagine rack.
Speaker 4 (01:18:59):
She grabbed a v A chest tape off that jone.
Speaker 1 (01:19:03):
And also he was on the roster that day. Why
also surprised that he came out of the bull. He
was on the playoff roster.
Speaker 4 (01:19:11):
He's fast, he was available right, the manager said he
was available for tonight. Right. Yah, should have just had
this ready and.
Speaker 3 (01:19:20):
Running over like you had the wild Thing hair cut.
It was just the whole book.
Speaker 1 (01:19:24):
I guess, oh I got because he had the That's
why he was a corporate guy in the beginning. So
they didn't play that music anymore, but they still had
it on standby.
Speaker 2 (01:19:31):
It's it's he's back. I see the hair.
Speaker 4 (01:19:36):
What if it wasn't though, what if he just had
the hair? I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:19:38):
I don't know, man, that's why they have the binoculars.
Speaker 4 (01:19:43):
I don't know. That was That's so also also a
terrible movie.
Speaker 2 (01:19:47):
The second.
Speaker 3 (01:19:49):
Was the first one I watched, so I love it obviously.
I saw Major League Too before I saw.
Speaker 1 (01:19:54):
It's such a step back from the first one. The
first one such a classic, and the second one it's like,
I love Omar Epps, but he's just not a convincing
Willie Mays Hayes.
Speaker 4 (01:20:02):
I did like the movie he did with.
Speaker 1 (01:20:04):
Jesse The Body Vent Tour, and that the parody movie.
It was like White Lightning and Black Thunder or something
like that.
Speaker 4 (01:20:12):
I did like that. Yeah, there's so many ways why
that movie was bad.
Speaker 1 (01:20:16):
Even Jack Parkman, the villain is white sox player, so
much worse than the guy in the first movie, who
was super funny and had the best mustache of all time. Okay,
Jack Parkman was just a just a just a jerk,
just not nice person. It just took all the things,
all the subtlety, and just removed all the subtlety from it.
That's I uh.
Speaker 3 (01:20:41):
Just watch that not too long ago, and I was.
Speaker 4 (01:20:45):
Like, God, I watched the second Major League.
Speaker 3 (01:20:48):
Like, why does Patro Serrado look familiar.
Speaker 4 (01:20:50):
Because he's the All State guy. He didn't know that.
Speaker 2 (01:20:57):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:20:57):
He's also he's been in so many movies. He's been
in so many movies.
Speaker 1 (01:21:02):
I mean movies you haven't seen, like Waiting Text Hail
and Loving Basketball, Love Shoop Shoot.
Speaker 3 (01:21:08):
I did love that music video, but I did not
watch Waiting to Excel. Okay, Whitney Houston man, I was
a big Whitney Houston guy growing up, so I think
he's detectively more than Michael Jackson.
Speaker 1 (01:21:20):
To be honest, there's a lot of Whitney Houston people
back in the day, so you're not alone.
Speaker 4 (01:21:26):
But yeah, that guy's been in a whole bunch of stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:21:28):
Man, it's so many things, so yeah, I forget Nah,
I can't remember his name now I should remember his name.
Speaker 4 (01:21:33):
Page is crazy, not Pedro Serrano. We can't do that
to him. No, Dennis hayes Bert, the legendary Dennis hayes Bert.
How about that? All right?
Speaker 1 (01:21:44):
Monday Night Raw? Roman Rains is back. What's gonna happen
with Roman Rains now that he's back?
Speaker 3 (01:21:51):
I don't know if I would like a tag tea
match of sumber Slam the way there people are, like, okay,
Roman and Jay versus Braun and Bronson. I don't know
if I like that. I guess it'll be like a
high profile match. I don't know if I wanted the
main event any night. I think the women should get
at least a Night one main event. It would be
(01:22:11):
cool if they got night too, but I doubt it.
But I don't know, man.
Speaker 1 (01:22:15):
I mean, if Rummaine's on the card, you know he's
probably in the main event. What was the main event
in russell Mania?
Speaker 2 (01:22:21):
Is the first match?
Speaker 4 (01:22:23):
Maybe? But I don't he could.
Speaker 1 (01:22:25):
I mean, look, if that was me, like, put me
in the first match sometimes, Paul Avec, I don't always
have to be in the main event. I like to
get out of here early. I'm not gonna win a title.
Put me in the first match, Bro. I don't blame
brock Lesni for that philosophy. Honestly, get me out of here, bro.
Speaker 3 (01:22:41):
Yeah, I mean it would probably be a bagger match,
But I don't know if I'd like a one on
one more or I guess it does make sense for
him and Jay to team up just basically it awf
of what happened on Raw, We'll see, especially, I mean,
it gets him out of the way off Seth rawlins
who because obviously it comes back for Seth, right, and
(01:23:04):
now that's to the wayside unless Seth's using it to
just cash in that Summer Slam. But you know, Roman's
kind of out of the picture right now because he's
focused on bron and Bronson. But who knows what, Paul,
I don't know. I don't know if it makes sense
the way I want it to make sense.
Speaker 4 (01:23:26):
Well, time will tell. I guess. Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:23:29):
Summer Slam is honestly kind of fast approaching we.
Speaker 4 (01:23:32):
Got a couple of weeks, a couple of weeks bro
to the way if.
Speaker 3 (01:23:37):
We do a roundtable, it's got to happen in two weeks.
Speaker 2 (01:23:42):
To the first.
Speaker 1 (01:23:42):
I'll tell you what this summer has flown by. It's
already mid July that Ryan bars exactly fifteen.
Speaker 3 (01:23:52):
It is thirty one days, but whatever past because it's
past noon. So there you go, already halfway through July.
Speaker 4 (01:24:01):
Damn already.
Speaker 1 (01:24:03):
But anything else for Monday Night Raw that you wanted
to touch on before we kind of wrapped it up here
for episode four thirty five.
Speaker 3 (01:24:09):
I mentioned the given the women more amplification. The first
hour and a half people were loving it. Pick and
Chelsea Green having a match. That was kind of fun
to cap that kind of segment off of all women stuff,
and you knoww is slowly picking up after the most
(01:24:33):
boring few months that I remember.
Speaker 4 (01:24:35):
Yeah, it was, it was, it was rough. It was
pretty rough. And then we got jelly Roll and Logan
Paul too.
Speaker 1 (01:24:41):
We do, but I meant it's pretty good in these
other places. In Jelly Rolling, Logan Paul are going to
have a tag team match with Randy Orton in the
three McIntyre.
Speaker 3 (01:24:53):
Yep, but I think I'll take it with everything else,
kind of like hitting on all cylinders right now at least,
you know, I don't know what's gonna happen with this
Cody Sena stuff. I feel like that's been barely touched
the last few weeks, so I don't know how they're
gonna start building that again. But I mean it should
(01:25:14):
be this week, right, he would think you would think
two weeks out from Summer Slams.
Speaker 1 (01:25:18):
And it's the next show in the calendar, So yeah,
I guess they did a lot of build up before
the WrestleMania match, and maybe they don't feel like they
do quite as much, but yeah, you would think it
would begin.
Speaker 3 (01:25:26):
And everything else pretty well, I'd say for Summer Slam,
and if you only have Sina for two weeks, you know,
maybe just do it this week and next.
Speaker 2 (01:25:37):
Week or the week.
Speaker 3 (01:25:40):
After, because technically that'd be three dates for him if
they go this week, next week, and then Summer Slam.
But who knows, maybe we get who knows the Cody
thing this week. It's got to be something he's gotta be.
He's got to do more than hand out will run
derby titles.
Speaker 4 (01:25:57):
What are we doing not the best gig if you
can get it though, bute.
Speaker 1 (01:26:02):
Uh yeah, I will be interested in seeing what happens
with those two because the WrestleMania build wasn't good. Let's
just be honest. The promos that Seena was cutting was average.
I mean, I feel like I'm disparaging them, but they
weren't that exciting. And Cody just hit him with the
Crossroads and that would be the end of the segment,
(01:26:23):
and it's like, Okay, this is a super exciting match here,
I guess.
Speaker 3 (01:26:27):
I mean, it took him two weeks to finally speak,
and then he said the same promo like four times.
Speaker 4 (01:26:32):
Yeah, and then.
Speaker 3 (01:26:32):
Cody is like, I'm so aggree at you, but I'm
not going to do anything. As I stand across from you,
it's like, dude, it's so much wrong with that baby.
They're stayed away from that, which, listen, I don't mind
it because the less WTF you have on the screen,
the more I'm gonna enjoy what I'm watching.
Speaker 1 (01:26:52):
We'll see as we move forward, but there's nothing else.
