Speaker 1 (00:01):
And now it's time for a Halloween Havoc flashback. Let's
get into some past nonsense with a promotion that used
(00:24):
to be around when they had some also had a
share of locker room misuse.
Speaker 2 (00:29):
Not miss it.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
How about w c W nineteen ninety six Halloween Havoc.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
You ready, I can't wait to talk about this.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
Let's do it. Bringing you.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
That's something you want your thought, you want.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
Here, you want to pop w W.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Best less you're my you just want to stop.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
You know, my god, I was sot.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
So much is happening there? Yeah, so much is happening,
just random sound effects and things happening.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Like a vocal thing that was like echoey. It's like,
oh my god, that such a naughtiest thing to do.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
But also Bischoff is the one that's calling the thugs
and stuff like that, because you know where we're going
here with n W O, with Bischoff and Randy Savage
for that matter. But Halloween Havoc it slim gym Solloween
having My Bad emanated from the NGM Grand Garden Arena
on October twenty seventh, nineteen ninety six. They were exactly
(02:07):
ten thousand people in attendance according to Wikipedia. So take
that for what it is, I guess if you wheel.
But what it is if you wheel the tagline nights
of Terror and Suspense.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
All right? I think that was like their tagline every year.
Wasn't it like like.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
A tagline from like a fifties horror movie. Though it's like,
you don't phrase taglines like that anymore, like even in
the nineties it didn't do that. There were some really
clever taglines for movies by nineteen ninety six. But there's
like it felt like a fifties horror movie, like science
fiction horror or something like that, like invasion other body snatches.
Isn't Night of the Tear and it's suspense? Oh my god,
(02:54):
It's like, okay, yep, that's sure is what was? Suspenseful
or tear were terrifying on this show.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
I don't know the new logo that was this is
the first year they had that new Halloween havoc logo.
It wasn't that that classic one the NXT users now
it was.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
It's the one with the guy. Yeah, this a mysterious
man holding up a sign or something, a slim gym sign,
A slim gym sign.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, which I don't hate the logo. I
just there was no need to change. That was like
a perfect logo for.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
They changed it probably to get slim Gyms in that
slim Gems.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
But all they had to do was just put the
photo shops a slim Gym logo in there.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
I mean, did they use this slim gym was back
in ninety seven?
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Right, ninety six ninety seven, that was slim Gym.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
I'm sure it was. It was the same logo for
both years. I would imagine it was.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
It was.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
And then soon as ninety eight rolled around and he
went to Snickers, correct, that wasn't the logo anymore.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
No, No, they went back to the classic Halloween Havoc
logo exactly which a year before this, by the way,
the ninety five Halloween Havoc was the classic logo. Wacho
Man was in WCW in ninety five, but it wasn't
Slimjim deal yet.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
So what they didn't get that over to ws.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
W U, which is very weird because Eric Bischoff was
always like, once Randy came in, it was fine. I
didn't pay him that much because he had the slim
Gym deal. I was like, well, what is it? Eric, Like,
what the hell is it? Why wasn't ninety five slim
Gyms Halloween havoc? I guess the hell's going on here?
Speaker 1 (04:19):
I guess it didn't work out the deal yet.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
Had they cross some ts and dot some eyes before
it happened?
Speaker 2 (04:25):
I don't know what.
Speaker 1 (04:26):
All I do know is that that was slim Gym's doing.
Probably that logo, at least they they wanted.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
That, definitely, Definitely the ring posts.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yeah, I think so, which WSW and I don't know
if they ever did that again, but.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
They did it in ninety six ninety seven. Then that
Halloween have ac logo was the only logo WCW used
on the ring mat in nineteen ninety six for a
pay per view because if you'll remember, I'm a big
you know, I pay attention to this these things, this
is your wheelhouse and World War three star kad after
(05:02):
this in ninety six, just a regular old blue ring mat,
so some of them had the w CW logo like
right in the center. It wasn't until Spring Stampede ninety
seven where they brought back the pay per view logo
as on the ring mat and then they wound up
doing that for the rest of ninety seven and at
ninety eight. I don't know if they didn't watch ninety
(05:24):
nine because I was kind of out on WCW at
that point.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
But as a lot of people.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
But it was so weird, like you had this great
ring mat with the hell I mean to have a
logo with the slim Gym covered steel ring posts. Cool
look to me, like I love that look, and then
you just go back to the blue plane ring mat
for the other pay per views, like, oh so stupid, man.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
I'm sure slim the Hell paid for that ring mat too, brother,
I mean, yeah, money were they slim Gym? Give me
y'all a whole bunch of money. We want everything we
went there at all, go on everything.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
And it wasn't even the log They had the four
slim Gym logos on the sideposts on the east corner
of the ring as well.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
At least they should have paid a lot of money.
If WSW didn't come up in a big way from
this slim Gym deal, I don't know what they were doing,
and they sold everything.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
That's probably how they were bred Haart a year later.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
They pretty much had a sweepstakes. They had not pretty much.
They had a sweepstakes, the slim Gym Sweepstakes infomercial during
the show, like like, and Randy Savage is doing a
tagline snapping.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
I have that clip. I can't wait to play it, right,
So it's so cheesy for like Randy Savage, who's supposed
to be so exactly nuts because the nw A messed
with Elizabeth and all that, and he's.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Got a world title match, period and on top of
that that other stuff.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Yeah, and he does this infibversal of it, all.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Right because he is contractually obligated to do so. And
you're gonna make that money kill you.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Let me go do this contraction first.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
K faber, No, k fabe. The money is real, all right,
that's your shoot, all right. So we're gonna get the money,
gonna get the paper, all right.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
This is the first Halloween havoc, not only with that
new logo, but with the New World Order. Yeah, Hogan
is going against the man who he lag dropped to
join the group. Of course, that was Randy Savage. This
is seven years after their WrestleMania main event. At WrestleMania five,
(07:38):
they didn't really reference it much here. But when later
on spoiler Roddy Piper shows up, that's all about their
wwfdas we're gonna talk all about it in Hogan's hair.
But but we mentioned a video package which had a
bunch of random stuff going on there. But we opened
(08:01):
the show with our favorite announcing trio, Tony Shavanni, Bobby
Heenan and the American Dream Dusty Rhodes the best. You know,
we're gonna get a good call. We at these three
guys absolutely right, and they got their matching Halloween Havoc shirts.
Oh my god, matching Halloween Havoc shirts. It's so great, right,
(08:26):
And of course that's probably another slim Gym slim Gym's request.
They never wore matching shirts. All of a sudden, at
slim Gym's Halloween Havoc they all had shirts with the
slim Gym logo on.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
It's just so funny that because it reminds me of
like Vince Kman and wwe like, make sure you say
it this way, make sure you say it this way.
And everybody that said like Halloween Havoc, throwing this paper
for you said, slim Gems Halloween Havoc, slim g Marshall backstage,
Mike Today backstage, Eric Pitchoff, Like everybody.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Say, to be a naming rights partner, you better the
damn name.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
It's so funny because I never really noticed it when
I was that young, like slim Gyms, Halloween Hacks, slim
gent like. So now looking back, it's kind of funny that,
you know, I never really paid attention to that type
of stuff. So when I gotta imagine the guys working
there that I have to remember to say, yes, not
just Halloween have it. It's slim Gym's Halloween has I
(09:23):
have many, just like different times they had to do it.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
It used to be the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. Yeah, I
used to like, what the hell's tostitos. I didn't know
even what it was, but it's part of the Fiesta
Bowl name, and I realized, oh, it's it's totilla chips, okay,
or now it's I think it's a PlayStation Fiesta Bowl
or the All State Sugar Bowl. Why do I know
these things because they would say them over and over
(09:46):
again during the broadcast of these games. Back in the day,
it was a FedEx Orange Bowl. At the Orange Bowl,
the FedEx Arnge Bowl now that it might be the
Capitol One Arnge Bowl again. Why do I know these things?
Because you beat things in the people's brains.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
It works.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
It's called propaganda, right, And these companies know what they're
doing because I just gave them free advertising for the
last two minutes on this podcast, all right, to prove
my points. But my point has been proven, and that's
the most important thing.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
All right, all right, they.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
Gonna make their money regardless. Okay, But Tony calls this
show the most important title match or it features the
most important title match ever, which is part of the
course of Tony Travanni. Uh yeah. Is a fight for tradition,
as Dusty Rhodes called it, the tradition of wsc W
(10:40):
all Right, that tradition of slim Gym's Halloween havoc. What
a tradition? What a tradition?
Speaker 2 (10:48):
Right, You're gonna say the rest of this podcast. So
it just makes me smile.
Speaker 1 (10:54):
I'm gonna come up off of this podcast alone.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
I might actually have to put in the title episode
title slim Gems Halloween have like ninety six stet died
instead of Justiday.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Don't give them that much. Damn, they're going brand new.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
Hey, can we get some.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
Actually, they're going to hit us up with a season desist,
like you did what you called it?
Speaker 6 (11:17):
What?
Speaker 1 (11:18):
Get out of here? Take that podcast, don't.
Speaker 2 (11:21):
We didn't give you a permission to call it slim Gyms.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Holli exactly, slim Gym straight shooters. Give you a permission
to do that. Take that podcast down, all right? Yeah,
you're right, or or this would be a brand opportunity.
You just start pitching to them. That's right, this could
be a sponsorship opportunity. We're all in on slim Gym.
(11:44):
We don't know you guys, Get out of here.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Take a video of myself coming to wall on a
slim Gym.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Eat it right there, snapping into it, out of sound
effect and everything that's right. Opening match at slim Gym's
Halloween Havoc is for the ww world a cruiseweight championship.
It is Dean Malanco challenging a twenty one year old
ray Mysterio. Now we've had this running at least I've
(12:11):
had this running opinion on the podcast that for some reason,
Raymond sterio theme music when he first got to WSW
was terrible because it's so serious and militant sounding. It
sounded like De Malanco's music and I hear that you are.
For the first time in the history of the Straight Shooters,
we got a demonlnco versus Raymond Sterio match to where
(12:32):
I can hear these songs back to back and it's like, yep, confirmed,
they must made the same song and gave it to Raymondsterio.
Why why did y'all do that? It's real bad.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Because at least given ray like the Turner archives and
let him pick his own theme.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Something that weird anything? Uh, back to Slimson again, this
is where I noticed that they had to ring post
like slim Gym pads on the ring post. All right,
But the reason why this is all a thing knows
because Macho Man was in the slim Gym commercials in
the nineties early nineties when he was in WWF. Those
(13:14):
commercials are iconic. They are to this day. Yeah, like
those were those commercials were massive. It really launched Savage
into a Shattu spere when he started doing those commercials
Snaper Doos slim Jem, it was like perfect, he was
perfect for that.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
I would be one of my favorites is when he
slammed the potato chips down, like, like that's my favorite one.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Yeah, I don't remember specifically, but those commercials were everywhere. Hey,
you talked to kids, specifically kids like us who grew
up in the nineties and even you know in the
eighties into the nineties. You remember those commercials.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
They were all like Nickelodeon, they were everywhere.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
They were, right, they were using Randy Savage to cater
to children, which is obviously what he was in WWF, obviously,
like but like this was like no like Saturday Morning
cartoon kids, not like wrestling fan kids. Saturday Morning you're
watching Ninja Turtles. And then while you're watching Ninja Turtles,
you see the commercial for the slim Gym and Randy
(14:19):
Savage is in the commercial. Like that was hand in
hand back in the mid nineties early is the mid nineties.
So it really when you think about it, it doesn't
come as a surprise for a slim Gym to be like, yo,
we want to go all in and if you're w's
w obviously gonna take the money. But like, yeah, this
(14:39):
was a very successful partnership for all involved, because I'm
sure that I helped slim Jym sell us a lot
of beef turkey, right, Like, I'm sure to help them
sell a lot of meatsticks all right to children and
adults everywhere. So they're like, whatever you want to do, Randy,
we'll get you your own gear, right makes it.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
I would mimic the the bite where like you said
that sound effect where it would be like snap, Like
I would try and mimic that just to myself, like
just sitting there and be.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Like yeah right, and in real life didn't quite work.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
These slim gems aren't like a stick.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
It's meat, so it's not like it actually snaps off.
Was that false advertising? After all this time? Who ate
a slim gem like that?
Speaker 2 (15:27):
I was like, I would make that sound.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
It'd be one thing if it was like that's what
actually happened, that's why you did it. But that's not
what happened. Who was out here actually eating slim gems
like that? And that's what they that's how they enjoyed it. Like, no,
it's not it's not like the desire. There's no sound
effect in real life, there's no like snapping. It's just
(15:53):
like that's all of this.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
So I got a I forget where I found one,
But it was like a pack of a hudged small
ones in like a stand a little bit, and it
was like a desk, a desk thing for slim gyms,
and I bought one and I had it like on
my on my like homework desk in my room, and
I would eat one like every day, and then I
just kind of left him there for a while. I
(16:16):
don't remember how long I had him, but like I
was a slim gym guy growing up, so I'm I'm
kind of surprised by the way. I didn't watch this
live October ninety six. I think I was grounded. We
did the in your House Spurred Alive deep dive last year.
I didn't order that either, so I had to be
grounded in October ninety six.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
How did you do on your birthday month?
Speaker 2 (16:38):
I probably said, shut up, mom, and she was like,
what'd you say?
Speaker 1 (16:42):
I know exactly what to do with to hurt him exactly.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
So I did not see October pay per view this year.
So uh. But yeah, I remember being so invested in
Halloween Havoc because of thewo storyline and Savage, so I
was more interested in that than I was, like Mankind
and Undertaker. You no idea what all that meant.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
They're gonna be in a graveyard. That is true. If
you've never seen the buried of live match. Now, I
guess we would take it for granted because we know
exactly what it is. Yeah, but in nineteen ninety six,
when a lot of this stuff that they're doing, they're
doing new stuff all the time. Wrestling is not what
you what it was back in the seventies and eighties,
when it was just like two guys in the ring
and trunk. So like, it's just a lot different by
(17:26):
nineteen ninety six, right, and then you hear a buried
alive match, It's like, what the hell? What are they
gonna do? They're gonna actually bury somebody alive. They're gonna
they're gonna be in a cemetery. They're gonna bring a
cemetery in the arena. What are you gonna bury a mat?
We ain't gonna find that much dirt. Just thinking about
all these things.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
What the hell exactly?
Speaker 1 (17:45):
There's probably so many questions I was running through people's minds,
and you probably not the only one. I was like,
I ain't watching that. I don't even know what that is.
What I rather watch. I'd rather watch the giant. Okay,
bring out the monster trucks, and so I know what
the monster truck is.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
Damn it exactly.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
None of those bells and whistles though, oh go ahead,
don't even know.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
I was like, I was just like Brad alive, like
and everyone like Jim Rossmins and man, somebody's gonna be
buried alive. And I was like, what does that mean?
Like are you gonna die? I didn't even like know
what buried Matt really And I was.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Like, are you want to ask, jeez if that exists
in ninety six? Can you die if I'm being buried alive?
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Like I don't even have the internet back then, so that's.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
What I'm saying. I like, you have it in ninety six.
I was that was pretty early.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
I was like, I had America Online. I would log
on and just be like this man one of his
interviews on America Online and be like, what is buried alive?
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Just what does that mean?
Speaker 2 (18:45):
So I was very like not interested in it at all,
even though it was the undertaker of mankind. And I
was like by that point, I was kind of like
annoyed by him because we've seen him King of the Ring,
we saw him Summer Slam. I was like, okay, we
get it. I just did not care anymore that point, right,
So you.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Have to worry about you knew exactly what you're going
to get out of Dee Malinko and Ray Mysterio though,
which is a damn good wrestling.
Speaker 2 (19:09):
Match like today in the booth as well.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
So Mike Tenay always if.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
You didn't know anything about Raymondsterio, but the mask meant
to him like like today was there to point it
out to everybody? I did? I do like that that
they brought him out to explain things.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Yeah, because in this particular match, de Malenko had stolen
the Ray Mysterio's mask that he had worn when he
won the Cruiserwey title. Of course, the mask is you know,
very important in lucha libre. But you know, if you're
the American viewing audience, you don't know that yet. By
nineteen ninety six, more than likely you do not know that.
So it's nice to have it today to explain why
the mass is so important and how uh you know,
(19:50):
a luchadorous whole existence is tied to that mask pretty
much at least in you know, in the Lucha libre lore, right,
so yeah, Americans didn't know that. They don't pay attention
to other countries anyway in general, And now here they
are with these new Mexican wrestlers, Like what is this?
Oh why is that mad so important?
Speaker 2 (20:08):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Thanks for telling me that. Now we all know? How
about that? So Mike Tonay, I don't know if he
gets credit for teaching people pro wrestling, like literally they
called him a professor, but like he really was a
professor for especially Americans obviously, uh, and introducing people to
different styles of wrestling, different people's backgrounds, and like you
(20:30):
said that that lore behind Lucha Libre and Lucha and
Lucia Door's mask, Like how many people knew about that
before Mike Tiney said it on the air unless you
were reading the dirt sheets. I mean, I don't know
how she would have known.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Like, yeah, I didn't. I didn't even watch ECW to
catch Team Aleko there, Stereo there, Eddie Guerrero there.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
I mean there were I mean Mexican wrestlers were popping
up here and there on American television, and I'm sure
like in thet on the West Coast and in Texas
they were even you know more prevalent, you know, but nationwide,
you didn't see Lucia Doors. Not you saw mass wrestlers,
but they were white guys. They're just you know, the
(21:14):
assassin was just a white guy, like you know, just
the superdstory is the white guy you don't do a mask.
But you didn't see Luci Doors like that, at least
on the nation national level. Right. So to have a
Mike Tenay pretty much on a weekly basis, be like, yeah,
this is what this means, and this what that means
(21:35):
for Mexican wrestling, for Japanese wrestling. Yeah, damn, we gotta
give him Mike Tonay as props, give him as flowers.
Speaker 6 (21:41):
Man.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
This is the Mike today. I think of when someone
would bring him up to me. I don't think about
the like today and TNA as the lead announcer or
even in the later years of w CW. I think
about this Mike today that would join the commentary booth
and give the backstory of whoever was in the ring
at that point.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
I don't I don't mind Mike Tonay as a playboy
playing TNA.
Speaker 6 (22:00):
He was.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
I think I think it was good to play by
playing TENNA. I think him and down West actually made
a pretty good team. At least they were memorable, you know,
like I even if they weren't technically sound or whatever,
they were memborable. I remember Mike ty down West freaking
out when big Things Wore happened in DNA now w
tw like for as an announcer at least, but in
this time, the professor Mike Tiney, Yeah, that's like where
(22:23):
everybody remembers I think the most.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
But and not as the announcment. I'm ready to rumble neither.
When he was the play by play and Tenette and
Shavanni was the color I didn't understand that decision there.
But this match itself was a damn good.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
One and a half minutes, pure fantastic wrestling.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
When both guys into the ring, the fans said they're
into him. By the time this match was over, they
were standing and cheering, throwing babies in there. It was
going crazy. Okay, okay, they were going crazy. One Raymondstere
attempted a six point nine while Malinko was standing outside
of the ring. He's never he didn't hit it, but
he attempted it. I mean, like that'd be kind of
(23:06):
wild if he actually hit that one day, Misterio eventually
gets his mask back, puts it on right, somehow hid
his face from thousands of people.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
I just thought that was a stupid spot. It's like,
he steal your other one, idiot. But it worked, just he.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
Could have put his face under the ring somewhere to
do it. He stood in the middle.
Speaker 6 (23:28):
Of the ring.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
It was like, nobody, look at me, what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (23:34):
Try to prove a point, but that didn't need to
be proven.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
Yeah, I guess yeah. Uh. At one point Mysterio tried
to do I guess huda karana, but Milanko reversed that
and hit a power bomb and the people went nuts
because it's like, damn, you don't see that too often, right, Okay,
And that's this one. I realized, like, wait a minute,
w don't show replays during the matches, show live replays.
(24:01):
They saved all the replays until after the match, and
just in that moment, I was like, damn, I really
want a live replay now. That's the thing that like,
live replays are great, Like WSW should have did that
more instead of waiting to after the match to show
the replace, show him like as it happened, that's like
when you're react. You see something and you're like, I
think I saw it, and then you watch it like
ten seconds later, it's like, yeah, I knew I saw it.
(24:21):
Like that's a great feeling, you know what I'm saying. So, yeah, WSW,
what the hell happened there? But then malenco up the
ande with a power bomb. He hit a power bomb
from the top and yeah, that was the end of
the match, and Milenko reclaims the title, and the fans
(24:42):
went nuts for Malenko. By the way, there's a d
Malenko who won supposed to be not the most and
they're not the most charismatic guy. That's literally his character, right,
and yet they were standing and cheering for him when
he won because that match was insane, especially that finished
with that power bomb in the top rope. People leaped,
let leaked, or left, whatever the past tense is. They
(25:06):
jumped out of their chair, left it, left it. Yeah,
you go, leaped it. There's a leopard out of the chair.
Started cheering, all right, this was great. This is exactly
what ws W wanted to do with these cruiserweight matches
is to get the crowd fired up. And they and
so because they're out there tearing it up. So and yeah,
(25:29):
kudos to Malenko and Mysterio they tore this up.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
Yeah, I don't think Masterio was champed for very long.
Uh kind of surprised me a little bit because I
think they would. You know, they introduced the cruiseweight division,
and I figured they would build it around one person,
and they really didn't. They built it around a lot
of people. Not saying that's a bad thing, but you know,
that Cruisewy title floated around from different people to different people, right.
(25:54):
I don't think what win that title back until the
next year when Eddie Carrero and then he was just
lose it a few weeks later back to Eddie Guerrero.
So uh, yeah, that cruiseweight title went. The division was fantastic.
I mean, like you really should have put it on
everybody in that division. Moving to Psychosis de Malenko, Chris
(26:16):
Cherigo was even cruiseweight champion for a while. That division
was great, but they just never really built it around
one person. And I don't know, if you know, looking back,
I'm not saying like they should have, but I was
just kind of surprised Masterio lost it as quick as
he did, and he wasn't champion for a long period
(26:36):
of time because he could easily carried that division as champion.
But I guess in there at Bishoff's mind, the cruiseweight
division was more about the division where the title could
bounce around from wrestler wrestler not lose any luster. And
you know, I don't think it really lost any luster
until maybe like ninety nine where what they put it
(26:58):
on as Oklahoma that he actually become cruiseweight champion at
one point freaking ed Ferrara.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
I don't know, before possibility, before.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
It became a joke. But this was in the heyday
of that division. Deemed like a ray of stereo, like fantastic,
always together and for the next you know, through ninety
seven through ninety eight, the Cruisewade Division was great, uh
always almost always and the beginning of the card, so
gotta keep that crowd going.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
Speaking of a great match opening match to get the
crowd going. Apparently, according to Twitter, MJF and Wheeler Utah
tore it up, ate it up, and it's like, hey, aw,
y'all got talented people. Y'all need to get yo stuff
together because y'all got y'all can do this thing. Damn,
I want to watch that match. We're doing this podcast.
(27:51):
We gotta do handle business. But that's just like it's like, hey, like,
if y'all work together, y'all can create some magic potentially.
Look at m J Wheeler.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
There's a sign of the crowd that says m JF
shares a back account with his mother.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
Oh my god, that's kind of funny.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
Actually, William Regal is in the ring right now with
brass knuckles on, staring down at m j F. M
But MJF just left the ring. I mean, there you
go that. There's sure it was a good I mean
I was. I guess it was, okay, I don't know.
(28:37):
I didn't see the match.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
So that's what people are saying on Twitter. Man, That's
that's what the word on the street is right now.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
But moving on, I feel like nowadays people hype overhype
matches a lot. I'm not saying like I'm just in general. Okay,
So that was probably a very good match if I
were to watch it at the beginning to end, I
don't necessarily know if I'd be like, yo, man, you
gotta go watch this match. I was back you know
years ago, but.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
We'll see check it. I gotta check it out. But
moving on backstage with Lee Marshall, who is talking to
Jeff Jared still fighting his way Jeff. Yeah, he's trying
to fight his way into the Four Horsemen by fighting
the giants.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
So weird.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
Good luck, bro, you must really want to be a
full horseman. Real bad. The perks probably aren't that great,
but all right, brother right. Rick Flair comes in. He
is the US champion. You will see later that the
giants walking around with the title. He's not the champion.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
C Flair.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
He came in and cut a promo. I got really
not much out of this. I don't know about you,
but I.
Speaker 2 (29:51):
Did not get I got less than that.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
There you go, moving on, and it's now time for
the bat of the Ring, not ring, not JF s ring,
the old Battle Bowl ring, which no one knew where
it was. It was so important, it was so important
they lost it in the storyline, not like in reality.
Oh maybe they did. In reality. They had to make
(30:18):
a storyline either way. They're fighting for a ring that
no one even gets to look at on this show.
It's Diamond Dallas Page going against Eddie Guerrero. I love
Gotta Love Peacock going with the knockoff Nirvana theme for
this version of DDP.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
And you notice there's no announcer saying anything. They just
cut everything out, so you know, the announcers aren't silent.
Speaker 1 (30:44):
I don't think I've ever heard ddp's actual song from
this time period, Like, I don't even know that. It
sounds like I don't I didn't watch this show live.
I don't really remember watching a lot of w's W
at this point. By the time I really got into it,
DDP was DDP, Like yeah, with the Nirvana song, so.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
Yeah, it was Uh. I don't even think they had
to sell high five at the beginning, you know how
it be like sell high five and then at the
beginning of the NIRDA song. I don't even think that
was part of it at this point, but I couldn't
tell you either. I don't think I didn't see.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
A lot even either way. Weird. I don't know why
it's weird. Uh. These two guys, look, it's Hall of
These are Hall of Famous d DP and Eddie Garrel
both in the Hall of Fame, both legendary figures and
pro wrestling. They're fighting for a ring that don't exist.
This is just another match. It was weird. It's kind
(31:36):
of weird seeing these like man DDP and Eddie Garrel
on pay per view. Man, but you watch it, it's
like this wasn't even that nice like it was. It was.
They just didn't can tell. They just didn't care enough,
like not DDP, edgar ws W didn't put enough into
this to give it the right amount of gravitas, the
(31:56):
proper amount of gravitasa deserve. Even this is what it is,
what it is.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
But according to Meltzer, at this time, Eddie had the
flu and he hurt his ribs, so possible explanation as
to why the match wasn't fantastic as it looks on paper.
But yeah, Edie wasn't even really into his full you know,
(32:20):
cemented as a WCW guy until he turned heel to
me personally and went on that run where he won
the Cruiseway title beat beat you know, Raybisio about a
year after this, So that was the Eddie I love
in w CW. This Eddie was just kind of there. No,
there was nothing much there for me for Eddie Guerrero
until he turned heel. So that's where we're at right here,
(32:44):
this specific match.
Speaker 1 (32:46):
Yeah, speaking of where we're at, Sam Govar is in
the ring on Dynamite, Yeah, apparently, and Drade was Andrade
was sent home due to a confrontation.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
Okay, well Johnny told him he was going to confront
him too, so he's he literally tweeted at him Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Look, bro, I'm gonna see you. We work together. So
what you're gonna do here? So TMZ has to scoop
or a scoop at least a w I'm reading from
TMZ wild aw Star. Samon Gavar Andrade were just involved
in a backstage altercation.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
What well he was backstage? Yeah, Sammy was backstage by
the way, like in a promo with Chris. Yeah, he's
starting the.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
Family of the Fans booed very loudly. But like, this
is the second time that we've had someone wanting to
beat up Samon Gavar. Interesting, this isn't again. I didn't
you know, we didn't know.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
This is the other person was sent home. Sammy was
not the one sent home. I don't understand.
Speaker 1 (33:55):
How is it that he's in the middle of both
of these He's just the victim.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
And I don't know exactly sure.
Speaker 1 (34:02):
According to TMZ, they said we were told if the
incident happened backstage at the Dynamite show at the Entertainment
and Sports Arena in Washington, DC Wednesday night. Sources tell
us words were exchanged and then things turned physical Sammy
allegedly Sammy allegedly pushed Andrada and punches were thrown. According
to our sources, it is unclear if anyone was hit,
(34:24):
so punches were thrown out. Nobody connected, apparently our sources
is TMC. Again. Our sources are adamant that the altercation
was not part of an aw storyline. We all know that.
As for the fight. As for the reason for the fight,
the guys have been in an intense beef that's spilled
over on social media. On Tuesday, the wrestlers went back
(34:44):
and forth as we talked about earlier. TMZ sources say
several wrestlers are quote unquote pissed. They're not quote unquote
I'm saying this is what TMZ is saying. They are
pissed at Sammy for publicly airing personal sliced private issues
and things just boiled over at the arena.
Speaker 2 (34:59):
It's not kind of change unless Tony does something to
Sammy honestly, and he has well when he was suspended to,
Sammy gets suspended to and I miss that because I
don't think I've read I think I've read it. It was
just Eddie Kingston. There's now a common denominator here. And
we could clearly see what Sammy was tweeting after an
(35:22):
interview with Andrade at some outlet that he was responding
to with Sammy literally started the tweet storm. So you
know you want to, you know, tell Sammy to grow up.
You know, maybe he shouldn't. You know, everybody's got to
start this, that's true, But.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
Andrade can't be I mean, look, somebody say something to
you to get on your skin. He's like, look, I'm
just handless, like.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Like you have an ulterior road of you know, there
there are rumors out there that he's trying to get fired.
But then he's like no, and you know, it's kind
of weird to think about, like why would he try
to get fired already? But is that?
Speaker 1 (36:03):
Look, I understand Sammy might have said something and he
you know, look, I'm gona handle us like a g
I'm gonna beat you up, right, And when do the
tweeting stuff. We're gonna see each other in person. I'm
going to see we work together. I'm going to see
which is Again it's like, why does this happen? You
are colleagues at the end of the day too, y'all
can't keep doing this. But so Andrade, again, I can
(36:26):
relate to how I reacted. But also it's still wrong.
You can't just beat up your coworkers. Right, you are colleagues,
y'all have to be able to sit down and talk.
If you're somebody in aw you had to have seen
this coming, right, they were tweeting about it. Get The
first thing you do is get them to in a
room and say, hey, let's do this civilly. So no
(36:49):
one like Andrade gets sitt home because he wants to
punch someone in the face.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
Well when you read that from TMZ, did it said
Sammy shoved first? Oh that too?
Speaker 1 (36:58):
Yeah, I mean that's what they said. They said, who
did what first? Semi shoved und But either way it's cooler.
Heads have to prevail At some point, somebody has to
intervene and be like, yo, don't do that. Just that's all.
It is. Same your boss, I can hire and fire people.
(37:20):
I can fire, you don't do that, like stop, like
that's it. Obviously it's more is more complicated than that.
Obviously there's more words said. But really that's what it
comes down to. What the hell is going on? Like
(37:43):
why can't they just get this together? For the life
of me, I don't understand it.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
But you imagine if triple ags is like calling everybody
at a w be like yo, what's your contract up?
And causing all of this to just that'd.
Speaker 1 (37:58):
Be that would be a big mess that he can
get sued for, potentially for a tampering I would not
recommend that, but I'm sure he's not upset at the fact.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
That he's probably reading the same article at the same
time and.
Speaker 1 (38:14):
Hearing that people want to come back. I'm sure he.
I'm sure Templates is called somebody right like I'm willing
to bet he has these allegations that come out of nowhere.
Somebody called somebody, even if it wasn't Timplate himself, somebody
called somebody. Okay, Tony kind of didn't get that upset
at the at the pressor for nothing. He was pissed
off at all out He was more pissed about that
(38:36):
than when seeing Punk said okay next to him and
said it I'm not taking this, not doing it right. Yeah,
so yeah, somebody called somebody again you can get sued
for that type of stuff. Don't do that. But yeah,
I'm sure he's not upset about this though. And some
of his guys that Vince let go let get away,
(38:56):
it's like potentially on their way out. Hm. It's wild stuff, man, young,
It's just man, it's okay. So somebody said that the
interview with Sammy was filmed before uh, all the stuff
went down, so it's still aired interview.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
I mean whatever, maybe he was sent home then.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
Who knows. Man, it's a mess. It's a mess. It's
a mess. This stuff has happened in the day of television.
God damn, what the hell? We only get together once
a week when they don't even have like tours together,
they just see each other once a week. Oh man,
(39:47):
it's so wild how this stuff just goes down either way.
Back to Hollen Week pretty much back to Halloween havoc.
Uh Deedie and Dusty Rose throwing our accusations at DDP
about him being affiliated with a n w O and
he I A'm making no bones about it. I'm saying
(40:09):
it right. But we also get our first glimpse of
the night of Nick Patrick, who will eventually be outed
a somehow compete right sometimes clear to a refere referee
with a neck brace on his neck, entering clearly in pain.
(40:30):
Not only did he referee this match, he refereed.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Like four more.
Speaker 1 (40:34):
He couldn't even get down fast enough, couldn't even get
down fast enough to count to three. And the announcers
acknowledge it on during this match. Ye like he's slow man,
it's not he's in pain. It's not gonna work clearly
planning seeds to what's gonna happen later. Right, And like
you said, he works an extra match, put in overtime
(40:54):
with a neck brace. The hardest working man in referee
history is Nick Patrick.
Speaker 2 (40:59):
Right way way, I don't know workers comp baby, I'm working.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
I'm still working. Right. Meanwhile, he's in there with he
got him in there with the with the neck brace
on working. This is like there's like workers abuse shouldn't
be there. Right then they got their wrestling for a
ring that no one knows where it is. It's like,
what the hell is going on here? This is a
sloppy shop now right, but Nick Patrick's in there with
(41:32):
a neck brace. Despite having a neck brace and being
in great deal of pain, he still managed to cuss
ddp's ass smooth out when he's shut. When DDP shoved him.
I've never seen a ref get.
Speaker 2 (41:45):
That mad.
Speaker 1 (41:48):
Rough shoved people. I've seen like you know, uh, Tommy
Young and n w A with shove. Shove a guy
shoff flair back and the crowd will go crazy, but
that's usually the shove. And like he's like, you know, hey,
I'm the rough Nick past to look like he was
like calling DDP out of his name, the d d
T d DP. He was pissed, Okay, he was really
(42:08):
upset about that about the shove from d DP.
Speaker 2 (42:12):
Uh kind of like long term storytelling like dd like
Nick pactor was kind of mad that DDP wasn't already
with the n w O. Like maybe maybe you can
look at it that way if you think it, because
we know what happens obviously, but maybe a little bit
about that maybe maybe, I mean, it wasn't until a
(42:34):
few months later that DDP would finally say no to
the n w O. But it wasn't after weeks. According
so maybe Nick Packer was Patrick was trying to be like,
you know, come to the n w O. DDP was
just like, no, he's like.
Speaker 6 (42:50):
Come to the n w O.
Speaker 1 (42:51):
Damn it. Maybe it was maybe something like that, maybe,
but it was. It was a lot. But the thing
about this match to me though, did this match end
in like uneventful fashion for you? Like it just kind
of ended?
Speaker 2 (43:09):
Yeah? Yeah, because I barely got the really end call.
But this was my favorite moment.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
Flapjack what's called the flapjack?
Speaker 2 (43:21):
Okay, okay, yeah, the flapjack and then there was like
another couple moves and then it was over.
Speaker 1 (43:29):
So yeah, it was really weird. Was that really weird?
We hear funny tweet? Sure from Joey Janella. You heard him,
Sammy and Andrade should have celebrated National Scissoring Day the
right way and pulled a sid and on My god, whoa,
(43:53):
that's crazy, right.
Speaker 6 (43:57):
Man?
Speaker 2 (43:58):
Wow? Wow? Because remember said said a stabbed iron with scissors.
Speaker 1 (44:06):
Look dark side of the Ring for a w is
going to be oh man. And I haven't watched the
first episode of the new season yet. I will watch
it though, because I can't wait to come out of
the dark Side of the Ring. Yeah, it's on YouTube
right now. Tell some of the Territories, baby.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
What the hell? Wait?
Speaker 6 (44:21):
Yeah? What?
Speaker 2 (44:22):
I have this song on my DVR and it didn't record.
What was it on TV?
Speaker 1 (44:26):
Maybe not and maybe hasn't aired yet. But the first
full episode is on YouTube right now.
Speaker 2 (44:31):
It's still on Vice right, Yeah, what in the hell?
Speaker 1 (44:36):
It's on What the hell? You can just watch it
on YouTube. It's right there.
Speaker 2 (44:42):
And they have Dark Side of Comedy. It's like, oh,
you man, was he usually on Thursdays?
Speaker 1 (44:54):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (44:55):
I don't remember the hell man, I'm saying, Okay, dark
Side of the Ring episode. I'm using Exfinity. It is
season four? Is that what it is? Or does it
have the season in the title?
Speaker 1 (45:14):
Do not know. But it's not Dark Side of the
Ring though. I don't think that's the thing. You probably
are looking for something else. It's Tell from the Territories there.
Speaker 2 (45:24):
Just that's the name of it.
Speaker 1 (45:25):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (45:27):
Okay, so okay.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
So I'm looking forward to this. I'm looking forward to
hearing crazy stories from the territories, and I'm sure it's
going to get somebody canceled in twenty twenty two for
something they did forty years ago to make the pool.
Speaker 2 (45:40):
Gotta make a pool of who it is?
Speaker 1 (45:42):
Oh man, that's a ooh, that's a good question. Who
is the person that's going to get their ass is
handed to them via the internet? Who's going to be
this years Ric Flair? Oh man, that's a tough one.
It's a tough one. Man. So many good choices of
people who can just you can just turn around on
(46:04):
them no time because of what happened. Oh, so many
good choices. But we got to move on, Okay, Prince
Nana I was on aw by the way, how about that,
like Prince Naa. We got to move on though, yes, yes,
(46:24):
it is now time for the sweep stakes, the slim
Gyms Monster Truck Sweepstakes with Mike Toenay and Randy Savage
backstage to announce the winner of a whole damn monster.
Speaker 2 (46:38):
Truck with some classic ready Savage pits.
Speaker 4 (46:43):
Fans across the country have had the opportunity to enter
slim Gyms Halloween Havoc Sweepstakes. Appropriately enough at WCWS slim
Gyms Halloween Havoc. Macho Man will join me at this
time for the grand prize, drawing the winner to receive
the Randy say, average Slim Jim's Monster Truck.
Speaker 7 (47:02):
Yeah, come before the storm, because you know, I know
then all these people know that I got a very
important match coming up against Hollywood Holk Coogan, and I'm
gonna take the w CW World Avyway Championship Belt. And
when I picked the winner the monster truck, the Slim
Jim's Monster Truck, just to be one favor.
Speaker 6 (47:27):
One over that body, just one time.
Speaker 1 (47:29):
Yeah, and the.
Speaker 7 (47:30):
People that I don't pick, don't be mad at me. Yeah,
I'm trying to be copasetic in a political year.
Speaker 4 (47:36):
You know, the d the deal and Randy, I think
the time is here. We have everything but a drum roll.
I think it's time to pick a grand prize winner
in the Slim Gyms Halloween Having sweepstakes.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
Let's find out who wins the monster Truck.
Speaker 6 (47:48):
We've got the drum roll.
Speaker 1 (47:53):
I'm ready damn.
Speaker 4 (48:03):
Snapped into it now, whole hold on one second, we
need to make this official.
Speaker 2 (48:10):
Hold on.
Speaker 4 (48:11):
This drawing is subject for the winner's timely return of
an affidavit of.
Speaker 1 (48:18):
The committee released.
Speaker 2 (48:19):
Randy, the winners have top had kill in your house?
Speaker 6 (48:23):
Did you understand that.
Speaker 1 (48:28):
He had to say. He had to say snap into
it before he opened his That had to be in
his contract.
Speaker 6 (48:36):
Because that would be baked.
Speaker 2 (48:38):
And the winner is l.
Speaker 8 (48:42):
Michigan.
Speaker 2 (48:43):
There it is.
Speaker 1 (48:43):
It's official.
Speaker 4 (48:44):
Joan michellick of wins the w c W A house
from Jim Sweet Steaks, and that slim gym monster truck.
Speaker 7 (48:53):
You know what, wow, Joan, if you want to take
me on in a date in your slim Jim's Monster truck,
it's really really, really really cool.
Speaker 1 (49:02):
That'll be cool with me, Thank you very much.
Speaker 6 (49:06):
Whoa out there?
Speaker 7 (49:10):
Snap into it because a little while I'm gonna take
Hollywood old COVID then break of.
Speaker 1 (49:15):
An half, let's go snap into him.
Speaker 2 (49:24):
You know, I got that for the rest of our lives.
Speaker 1 (49:26):
You had to say that he's contractually obligated to say.
Speaker 2 (49:29):
That this is this this uh, this little part cracked
me up.
Speaker 1 (49:38):
Let's be doing I think he's saying him or her.
I think saying him him or her.
Speaker 2 (49:45):
Okay, well I didn't. I didn't hear that. I thought
it was just him going So I clipped it because
I'm like, that's funny, and you literally just told me
what it sounded like, and then I just played it again. Yeah,
I hear it. Now I hear it.
Speaker 1 (50:04):
By backlan bro like he said the words.
Speaker 2 (50:10):
I did not hear him say her a while, and
now I hear it. So yeah, how about that?
Speaker 1 (50:16):
So Savage is shooting his shot to a woman he's
never met to take a ride in the monster truck.
Speaker 2 (50:22):
That's also Elizabeth too, wasn't he?
Speaker 1 (50:24):
I guess I'm Return of the Mac?
Speaker 6 (50:27):
Baby?
Speaker 1 (50:28):
Was that song even out yet? Return of the Mac?
That's my, that's my?
Speaker 2 (50:32):
I sung it, so it.
Speaker 1 (50:35):
Might be a ninety seven song, but I sung it
very poorly, so you can probably edit that out. But
nineteen ninety six, so it came out this while. So yeah,
I think Savage is blasting that. You know, he's out
here shooting his shot. Also, this lady gets a whole
monster truck. What the hell here you supposed to do
(50:55):
with that? What the hell you gotta do? You have
to pay taxes on that? On this monster? Like? I
can't take that to the grocery store. What I can't
pick my kids up from school in a damn monster truck?
What can I park that thing? What is what is
the everyday use of this? Why do they give this away?
Speaker 2 (51:15):
You know Michigan. It's Michigan in it's October. So it's
not like that.
Speaker 1 (51:21):
If they picked somebody from urban from like North Philly,
South Philly. You live in a row home with a
little teeny backyard. What the hell you're gonna do with
a monster truck. I'm sure somebody from some very urban
city applied and they could have won. I don't know
(51:42):
where Romulus, Michigan is. Hell that is, it sounds like
a place that has a lot of a lot of
land around the homes, but like a sprawling.
Speaker 2 (51:52):
Metropolis, probably Remus, I.
Speaker 1 (51:55):
Guess, all right, but it's not Los Angeles. We know that.
So also we have this far into the show without
acknowledging that that is apparently National scissoring Day. And of
course you know that's because the acclaimed they've deemed this
National scissoring Day. And uh, of course my flag football
(52:18):
homie is it's static. He's celebrating in his own way. Uh.
And you know who else is celebrating? Who said Alton
Brown from Chopped, he hosts Chopped, Well he did took
a photo of him doing that and tagged they claimed
(52:41):
in max Caster that stuff is over somehow, that is over. Somehow.
That's again a good thing that's happening in aw not
the the nonsense that I'm sure wrestling to. It's going
to have a field day with with the memes. They're
(53:02):
already at it. They're already at it. Okay, it's it's
a lot going on on Twitter as we record this.
But moving on from Monster Truck giveaways, Okay, we're now
with well, we're still with Mike today. I should say,
(53:23):
who said that? You know, people can listen to the
show for the first time ever thanks to CompuServe and
the Internet, the.
Speaker 2 (53:33):
Internet, Wrestling dot com.
Speaker 1 (53:36):
You need a new hip thing the Internet. You can
listen to the show just the audio though not the video,
but just.
Speaker 2 (53:47):
So probably I would you even do that? I was like,
I'm watching the show, watching the show internet thing. It's stupid.
Speaker 1 (53:55):
I don't know how much it would have cost. I
would imagine those less than the pay per view.
Speaker 2 (53:58):
Yeah, I remember the one I bought was like ten bucks.
But still, I mean, it's money that your parent not this.
It was Boston Brawl. It was a January ninety eight,
I believe it was a house show in Boston that
and they plugged it on TV where you can if
(54:21):
you're not there in the arena. It's not going to
be televised, but you can purchase the audio event on
WW So it was like January ninety eight, and I
remember my mom had purchased it, and I think it
was like nine to ninety five, so yeah, like ten bucks,
and we had issues. Obviously the audio kept cutting out.
(54:44):
I was able to like it had like a player,
so you like press the play button then you'd be
able to hear it. And it was just like this
logo they made like a logo special for this event.
I want to say it was before sold out, the
sold out pay per view in January. I want to
say it was before that, but I don't remember the
exact day. I could probably look it up, but it was.
(55:04):
I remember sitting on my computer and just the audio
kept stopping, and I was like, what the hell is
going on? This sucks? The internet's overall. Yeah, it was
like regular commentary. Oh okay, I don't remember if they
plugged like a main event on wrest On TV, but
uh yeah, January thirty first, nineteen ninety eight, so it
(55:26):
was after sold out, and so nine matches were featured.
The main event was a steel cage match between Stag
and Hollywood Hogan. So that's probably what they probably did
say that on TV, I would imagine, which is why
I wanted to order it. It's like steel cage match,
Please stick a Hogan, Like holy crap, uh, said Bill
(55:47):
Goldberg and Buddy Lee, Parker, Booker, t Mike Rotunda, Chris Jericho,
Dimon Lenko, See with Michael Greg Valentine, Steiner Brothers against
Raven and Perry Saturn, Wow, Chris Binoi and Nandie Guerrero,
Brett Hart, Rick Flair. So yeah, this is a big
ass card. You had ddp Lex Luger and Larry's Ubisco
(56:10):
a six man tag against Randy Savage, Kevin Nash and
Scott Hall. So yeah, like the whole gang was there,
and then he had Sting in Hollywood Hogan and a
steel cage match. So yeah. I obviously I must have
heard about this card on TV and it was a yeah,
it says I Internet pay per view event, but I
(56:34):
don't believe at this point it was video was included.
I think at this point it was just audio. Obviously,
I was just interested in the audio and I couldn't
I couldn't get it like my mom ordered it. I
don't know if she ever got a refund, but I
remember being pissed because I kind of listened to the
whole thing.
Speaker 1 (56:52):
Yeah that sucks, man, I'm all excited sitting there.
Speaker 2 (56:55):
The WS so I'm looking at ddtdiggest dot com if
you remember that west site from way back when the
WCW server was down. Finally I came across the ww
chat room. My god, that there was another address to
go to. I feel sorry for those who weren't in
the chat room. So I don't believe I was in
the chat room.
Speaker 1 (57:16):
Apparently you weren't.
Speaker 2 (57:18):
I did not go to whatever the new address was.
Speaker 1 (57:24):
So yeah, okay, well, sorry to hear that. All mind
blowing stuff though for nice ninety six.
Speaker 2 (57:34):
Well this is eight, so yeah, well yeah, it was
even more mind blowing.
Speaker 1 (57:37):
Right ninety eight. Yeah, it's still pretty mind blowing though.
Ninety eight too. But we did move on to Chris
Jericho sitting next to the resident nerd. You do the
chat online with fans because both promotions were for whatever reason,
we just get the dorkiest looking people to do the
chats with the wrestlers. And I guess at this time
the dorky's looking guys were the only people who knew
(57:59):
how to do this right, and they were the only
people who really familiar with this stuff. Now everybody's familiar.
But like back in the day, this is ninety six.
Still people were like their computer, like, you know, it's different,
different times back then. But now Mike's he's busy, he's
now with jeez, there's no cruiserweight champion Deed Malanko.
Speaker 2 (58:18):
Noting to cut you off. Brian Cage came back on
dynamite just to get killed by Warlow. Oh boy, how
about that? They need to reach I mean, I don't
say killed, but like I looked over and a few
minutes later I looked back over and Warlow gave him
two power bombs and penned them, so he probably got
some offense in. But still, yikes.
Speaker 1 (58:37):
They need to reheat Warlow bad because for whatever reason,
is just the the heat has come off of him
a little bit.
Speaker 2 (58:43):
But now he's being attacked.
Speaker 1 (58:46):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (58:48):
Yeah, so yeah, well, oh well sorry, we.
Speaker 1 (58:53):
Hear from Dame Malanco. Yeah, okay, But then we go
back into the arena. We're now in the crowd. It's
not a shield entrance though this is the n wo's entrance. Okay,
teed debian of course famous recently for being involved in
the Mississippi welfare.
Speaker 2 (59:08):
Scandal and with good friends.
Speaker 1 (59:11):
I hear well, at the very least they like taking
money from the War for a fund, or at least
being involved in schemes to take money for the warfare
fund something like that. But he cuts a promo about
the giant who walks out with the US title. Again,
he is not the US champion, That is flair. They
called Jeff Jared a fool for getting into the ring
with the Giant. I agree with them that this is
(59:32):
a dump, not the title. You don't even try to
get the belt back for your boy. It's just just
just a match. We willing to do everything you can
to get into the into the full horsemen. But that
sets up for the next match, which is of course
the Giant going against Jeff Jareded. Now you see the
Giant walking around with the US title. He never actually
won the US title obviously at this time, but he
(59:55):
never actually won it at all on WSW. He actually
won it in WW. Now, I got a question for you,
because you know you could probably guess who he lost to.
Speaker 2 (01:00:06):
To drop the title, right, John Cena.
Speaker 1 (01:00:09):
Okay, better question though, who did Big Show beat to
win the title?
Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
Eddie Guerrero?
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
Damn, right on point. I was hoping that'd be a
little harder for you.
Speaker 2 (01:00:19):
That was a guest though. I just remember the timeframe. Uh,
and Eddie was champion, but that was a guess, so
I don't I just I don't remember when he beat Eddie.
Let me guess two thousand and three, at some point
the end of three or was it oh four?
Speaker 1 (01:00:36):
Yeah, that was three?
Speaker 2 (01:00:38):
Yeah, okay, So I wasn't like I was kind of
in a sabbatical from wrestling, but I was checking in
here and there.
Speaker 1 (01:00:44):
So but I do remember that funny part about this though.
Speaking of the US title, Nick Patrick holds it up
as if it's being defended his work.
Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
Yes, I know.
Speaker 6 (01:00:57):
That was.
Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
It was so angry, dude.
Speaker 2 (01:00:58):
I totally overlooked it. But I remember now they were.
They were like livid and they It's so great by
Nick Patrick too, because like the whole night they were
just killing Nick Patrick. But he played it so well too,
like it was so great, what a great angle man
because the little, the littlest things man like, everything made sense.
(01:01:21):
Everything was paid attention to. And oh man, it's so
funny looking back and hearing that they were.
Speaker 1 (01:01:28):
They were growing his ass up. Bro, they hated Nick Patrick.
They hated him so much. We get to the match.
Jeff Jarrett, by the way, gets a lot of offense.
Speaker 2 (01:01:41):
In Dude, I said the same thing. This was almost
ten minute match.
Speaker 1 (01:01:45):
You gotta think like the Giant, by the way, you're prior.
He's in the main event of Halloween, having in the
monster truck match. He falls off a building and survives. Okay,
he falls off of building and survives. Now Here he
is a year later and he's selling the punches from
Jeff Jarrett.
Speaker 2 (01:02:02):
Like and wobbly, like, oh he's gonna go down like that?
Where didn't we go wrong? That was bad? People think
Vincent Ban ruined Paul White like nah Man, he was
ruined before he even got to w w F because
this type of stuff, and this stood out to me
so much like Jeff Jarrett getting.
Speaker 1 (01:02:24):
Giant, or even Sting. We're not talking about Nash Goldberg,
like I said, if he's if it's not even Sting,
we have a problem. I'll give Sting a little bit
of leeway because he is a man event guy, but
Jeff Jared, who was never a man of it guy
in w TW until all those other guys left.
Speaker 2 (01:02:47):
Then he came back like, oh, y'all are out, Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:02:51):
I'm leda the n w O. Now I got this
stroke now and I'm gonna wear these ugly neon shades too.
But yeah, that was wild to see, especially like again
at this time when Giant, as far as I can remember,
was very protected. Yeah, and he is getting his ass
(01:03:13):
whoop by Jet Yet it was bad, man, what the
hell's going on here?
Speaker 2 (01:03:21):
And I don't know if they were because the Giant
wouldn't leave the nWo until like a few months later,
and I could be like, okay, maybe a seed was
planted that the nWo is like, oh, Jeff Jerrard almost
beat you, Like okay, you're kind of a weaklink, But
I don't think they ever approached that, So I don't
know what this story was supposed to be For this
particular match. Even with Rick Flair at ringside, it wasn't
(01:03:44):
like too much for the Giant to overcome or anything
like that, or he wasn't even distracted. It was just
very very not great, not great at all, too not
a great showing for the giant at all.
Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
Here was really weird and you know we got flair
outside of the ring. Uh, you know, trying to fire
up Jeff Jared on the on.
Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
The on the microphone, get up and kick some of
w o ass.
Speaker 1 (01:04:16):
Oh man, I knew this is gonna happen sidetracked. Remember
have you watched the Rams game? In the forty nine
Ers game, I did not. Well, there's a fan who
got in the field, Bobby Waggoner as that homeboy. Yeah,
he foled out, which is why most football players don't
do this stuff. I'm not mad that he did it,
(01:04:36):
but we're not surprised that this guy was going to
press charges because a guy like this would do that
like you would after you were somewhere you didn't belong
to begin with.
Speaker 2 (01:04:48):
And then he's gonna say I wasn't threatening anyone, I
wasn't near anyone.
Speaker 1 (01:04:51):
Of course, you had a smoke bomb. You get the
damn stadium with that, right, the clear back policies and
the stadiums are air tight. How hell did he get
in the stadium with that? I feel like that's something
that wouldn't be allowed in the most stadiums. I know
they haven't in Europe, but I feel like he is
as tight as security as in the NFL stadiums. Especially
how the hell you get in there with that? I've
never seen that in the NFL stadium.
Speaker 2 (01:05:12):
And the thing is that whoever quote unquote let him
in there with that is going to get a more
trouble than he is.
Speaker 1 (01:05:20):
I guess man, It's it's weird. It's really weird. But
back to Halloween havoc and Jeff Jared beating up Giant
and Rick Fleck.
Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
File police report on Jeff Jarrett for God's sakes.
Speaker 1 (01:05:34):
Right right, I mean Jeff Jared he almost gets chokes
outside of the ring. Rick Flair helps him out by interfering.
He gets Jeff jareded disqualified. So Giant still wins technically,
but not before he got beat up.
Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
No, man, he looked bad. He looked at Would you
do you think Scott Hall? Maybe Scott Hall because he
took a lot of offense from others, But do you
think Kevin Nash is putting in that kind of offense
from Jeff Jarrett, Like get that offense from Jeff Yard. No,
Kevin Nash isn't Haul Cokan's not It's like Six isn't
(01:06:08):
even going to like damn, they messed with the giant
too much, even a w stuffy man.
Speaker 1 (01:06:16):
Yeah, this was this is too much. This was too much,
Like why for what reason? For Jeff Jarrett for who?
Speaker 2 (01:06:25):
For what?
Speaker 1 (01:06:26):
No, we're not doing that. After the match, the rest
of the Horsemen come down, they support Flair and Jared. Again,
Jarrett is not technically into four horsemen, so he's just
affiliated taking gangster not a real one. Well yeah he
are a four horsemen in training. Okay, uh but debas
(01:06:49):
he's back up in the shield spot. He's he's back
up in the perch, the shield position because now he's position.
He's not only with Six, he's with Nick other black friends.
Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
Let's go by friends. I loved Virgil. I was like, yes,
like this guy's awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:07:13):
And I'm like, okay, this was a this is the
thing they were doing tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:07:17):
I kind of like this I did. I does supposed
to be.
Speaker 1 (01:07:20):
The outsiders, so to have them come out totally different way,
yeah why not? Yeah, I'm here for it.
Speaker 2 (01:07:33):
So this was the real first pay per view for
like the nWo NW two, like Bash at the Beach,
it was created road Wild or Hog Wild in ninety six.
You know, Hogan wins the title. Different atmospheres like okay,
the nWo and then fall Brall War Games is also
a different atmosphere. So this was like and obviously Erik
Pittscheff said Halloween Havoc he felt was the most important
(01:07:56):
WCW pay per view on the calendar. So the fact
that they did this is just like nWo cementing themselves
and WCW. So having sat up there and having them
come through the crowd was a nice touch.
Speaker 1 (01:08:11):
Yeah, I thought it was too. It just it just
kind of made sense. It was different presentation for this
outsider group. They don't get to use the entrance away. Yeah,
you know they should be wrestling for any titles really,
you know, they're not sanctioned wrestlers. I guess, I don't
know either way, it was a different, unique feel. They
didn't keep it up for a very long instead of
(01:08:32):
got Hogan playing air guitar on the belt a long
time and with the music and all that. It was
kind of weird to see him later on come through
the crowd. I used to him with again with the
belt with their guitar, but as what we got on
this night, but there the inepition for the next match,
it is going to be six going up against Chris Jericho,
(01:08:53):
who both Six and Dbasse made sure to put over
Jericho and her promos. I noticed that they made sure.
It's like, yeah, he's a really tough competitor. They didn't
do that for anybody, like they didn't put anybody over.
They made sure they put Jericho over. And I'm wondering
why they did that. I don't know why that was
the case, but it's a good look for Jericho obviously.
But is this was this six Six's Six's ws W
(01:09:16):
pay per view debut. I feel like it was because
he didn't debut until like September.
Speaker 2 (01:09:20):
Correct, because I think when he was in the when
he debuted in the crowd like today, went to him
and they did an interview and he he was talking
about the war Games match the night before, So that
was his debut was the night after Wargames. So yeah,
this was his pay per view debut.
Speaker 1 (01:09:37):
Got you got you. There's another altercation happening, this time
with the Golden State Warriors physical altercation their practice today
that the team has considered considering that hazard team considering
disciplinary action towards Draymond Greens. You know full well there's
a fight Dmon Greens. Draymond Greens want to be in
the middle of it. This is all according to Sham's you.
Speaker 2 (01:09:58):
Know, sloppy shop over there. Warriors the champs.
Speaker 1 (01:10:02):
So there's a room for air when you get back
on top after being down for a couple of years,
get back on top. Yeah, they they'll be hours. It's
training camp a w. They're not the champs like they
gotta they got they got more ground to make up.
You can't have this type of stuff. Sham said that, yeah, Shams,
ye Shams. So moving on, Chris Jeraker versus six and
(01:10:30):
Six's first w stated pay per view before that, though,
we gotta look at the Dungeon of Doom. Conan, Kevin
Sullivan and Big Bubba Rogers. Were they in Dungeon of
Doom at this point? We got to look at them
before this they went in the crowd.
Speaker 2 (01:10:45):
Oh, I didn't even notice.
Speaker 1 (01:10:48):
You didn't even notice.
Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
What are they doing to the crowd?
Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
I have no idea, but they were sitting there.
Speaker 2 (01:10:55):
Versus like, no, it's not how are you doing?
Speaker 1 (01:10:59):
They were sitting there rooting for Jericho. Oh, so yeah,
that's what they were doing. I don't know why they
get they I don't know why they didn't just like,
you know, watch him backstage. They couldn't just they sat
in the crowd.
Speaker 2 (01:11:12):
You're contractually, you're contract contracted to w c W, Like,
you can go backstage.
Speaker 1 (01:11:17):
Brot's go backstage. I'll do like how Dusty. They'll pointed
out that Sullivan is necessarily a good guy. Even though
he's cheering for a good guy, he's really just he
doesn't actually love w c W as much as he
lust for power. Like so I think that's his right
to just not gloss over past task master Kevin Sullivan,
(01:11:40):
like just because we want to quote unquote same side.
Kevin Sullivan might have an arterior motive because he's a
task master. That's what he does. That's what he does.
Speaker 6 (01:11:49):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:11:50):
This match, Uh, this match had a funny finish. The
match itself was good six and christ Yera coul did
a good job. However, the story of the match really
is Nick Patrick because he's in here for a second
match with his neck brace on, and it's clear to
see that Nick Patrick. Every time Chris Jagger has a
chance to get a pen he's in pain and agony
(01:12:12):
trying to get down one, two ours.
Speaker 2 (01:12:15):
He's stopping the count.
Speaker 1 (01:12:18):
Oh oh, he's really slow to get down there, get it.
Oh boy, I stop the boy? Oh man, oh wow.
Is that why his wife was there? His wife was
in DC to stop the count. Right, that's what the
word on the street is. At least that's the word
on the street. But obviously the opposite happens. When six
(01:12:38):
gets his pins, right, Nick Patrick is flying down there.
He's diving, okay, ballot box, right he is. He is
writing in ballads that don't or legal ballads, all right.
He's doing all he can. He's jerrymandering districts, all that stuff. Okay,
(01:12:58):
doing what he can. The announcers played along and started
counting alongside Nick Patrick, and they went time got to
six before no pun intended, but they got to six
before he got to two for a Chris Jericho pin.
But again when six at the spin kick, he was
right there on point one, two, three done. He then
(01:13:21):
to throw salt into the wound, helps six out of
the ring. Even though six won the match, he didn't
need the help. But here he was carrying six out
of the ring and Jericho sitting there like what the hell, Like,
I'm the one got kicked in the head. What's going on?
That was a funny match.
Speaker 2 (01:13:40):
I believe. The next month they did Jericho versus Nick
Patrick with what arm tie behind his back? Well, I
guess Jericho had the arm tie behind his back. I
think that was at World War Three. So yeah, this
was the start of a lot of some of WCW
wrestlers and Nick Patrick, Chris Jericho was like the most
famous one. And I remember Teddy Long getting in the
(01:14:03):
Patrick's face for the Jim Powers and some of the
guys that he that he uh managed, and it just
maybe laugh.
Speaker 1 (01:14:12):
Speaking of Teddy Long, you see he went he was
blocking people and then it turned out not to him.
Speaker 2 (01:14:16):
On Twitter, Well yeah, I see whenever one when someone
does that, like I just assume they've been hacked, and
I guess people were just posting like they didn't realize it.
I was like, it's pretty clear he was hacked. Like
it's like, what did Teddy Long block me? I never
talked about him. I was like, it's pretty clear, dude
that he didn't block you and search you out and
block you, and that's what hackers do.
Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
I had to check myself, like say that, so what
did he do? Teddy?
Speaker 2 (01:14:45):
Did he get access to his Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:14:47):
I don't know what happened. I don't know what happened.
I just watched the video of him saying it wasn't
him and me.
Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
I didn't check that.
Speaker 1 (01:14:53):
Yeah, it's somewhere. I think I's on Twitter. Either way,
I was. I was sweating for a little bit of no, no, no, no, no, no,
no in black me not Teddy Long. He ain't blocked
a brother? No, no, what did I do to?
Speaker 6 (01:15:06):
It's not the way it's going to go down.
Speaker 1 (01:15:08):
Tonight playing and I was. When I was checked, I
was like, oh, whoa, he ain't blocked me. I'm about
to be sad, bro I got blocked by Teddy Long. Noah,
I was about to do a lot of self reflection.
Speaker 2 (01:15:20):
There, Teddy, get this Twitter account back.
Speaker 1 (01:15:30):
Right. Try No, you don't sue, But I was doing
Teddy Long dance over here. If you couldn't tell back
to the.
Speaker 2 (01:15:42):
Left, so we don't do zoom. So I wish I
could see it, But it is what it is.
Speaker 1 (01:15:49):
I was doing it. I was doing It's not a hard,
difficult dance to do. It's really just throwing your arms
one way and throwing it on the other way, bouncing
around a little bit, perfect old black man dance. It's
a great dance with the barbecue for the old black man,
all right. When he danced in the rap music, he
got other dance moves. When he listened to like oldies
like Temptations and like stuff in the eighties, even like
Earth when Fire, he got real dance moves to that.
But we're like that new hippitie hoppity stuff. No, I'll
(01:16:11):
just do this and do a little bit of that,
and that's all I got. That's all they got for that, right,
But back to Halloween Havoc. We're backstage again with Mike today.
The hardest working man in the building tonight.
Speaker 2 (01:16:29):
Other than Nick Patrick.
Speaker 1 (01:16:30):
Other than Nick Patrick with the neck brace, he's with
a crazy looking Lex Luga dude.
Speaker 2 (01:16:37):
His hair all right, unbelievable one.
Speaker 1 (01:16:40):
You can tell this man is going crazy for one
by his hair, yes, but also because he started off
the promo making like farming references and farming.
Speaker 2 (01:16:49):
And noalys Okay, we're gonna have to listen to this verry.
Speaker 4 (01:16:52):
Much tony total package. Lex Luger showdown time is here.
Your rivalry really intensified with arn Anderson, and you've promised
tonight a slim Jim's Halloween havoc, not only to defeat
arn Anderson, but to hurt the man and put him
up in that torture rack.
Speaker 9 (01:17:08):
You know, really, let's need to come down to this.
But Ron, you wanted to start pointing fingers. You wanted
to lay the blame for wargames, so be it. I
said I'd accept the blame, but that wasn't good enough
for you, so you had to throw down the gauntlet.
You planned the seeds, Iron, and now the crop has harvested,
and it's not a garden of flowers.
Speaker 6 (01:17:29):
It's cactus.
Speaker 9 (01:17:30):
It's thickets of things that you'll never want to see
from next Scluid.
Speaker 1 (01:17:33):
Because Iron, you're talking about back.
Speaker 9 (01:17:35):
My intestinal fortitude.
Speaker 6 (01:17:37):
You've questioned my.
Speaker 9 (01:17:38):
Courage, you've tested everything and questioned everything that.
Speaker 6 (01:17:41):
I stand for.
Speaker 9 (01:17:42):
And now Iron, you're gonna see a total package that
you've never seen before. You've seen a man that is
gonna come uncoded. It's time for the total package. Somebody
in w CW to make us stand around here.
Speaker 8 (01:17:54):
I'm sick and tired of everybody running dump each other's backs, well, now,
I Anderson, you're gonna see your side of me.
Speaker 10 (01:18:01):
Oh my gosh, I'm going to the ring right now,
I think he recout his wide.
Speaker 6 (01:18:07):
I'm gonna say it more. I didn't have to come
this far.
Speaker 9 (01:18:10):
I'm not only gonna beat you, I'm not only gonna
wreck you, but I'm gonna take you out and I'm
gonna hurt you.
Speaker 1 (01:18:18):
So it's like Lex instead a couple of years later,
Lex would just go, what am I saying?
Speaker 10 (01:18:23):
I don't know, Oh my gosh.
Speaker 1 (01:18:28):
But until then he says that, oh my gosh, I
don't know what coming hard, I don't know what the
hell is going on with him and that hair right,
say what now?
Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
So I get it, Like you know, I don't necessarily
wonder or I necessarily I can't understand why the Four
Horsemen blame Lex Luger for staying turning on them at
four games, or at least not turning on them, but
and being like, you guys didn't believe me. Screw you
stings in the crow character at this point. So apparently
(01:19:05):
that's like Lucker's fault to the Four Horsemen. So that's
why Arn and Lex are feuding. I guess Arn Andersen
comes off like a dick here, but and Lex Luger
is just like the hell man.
Speaker 1 (01:19:24):
I guess it comes off like.
Speaker 2 (01:19:26):
I mean, he's blaming Lex Luger for the War Games loss.
But it's like, dude, it was you didn't believe Sting either, Like,
shut up, that's your problem. But I think this is
Arne's last match, right, Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:19:41):
They stretcher him out actor, so it seems like it
if you know. If it's not, I'm surprised, but it
seemed like it at the time for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:19:50):
So I remember you watching it, the legit injury that
he got surgery for, and I believe this was the
way to write him off because you had, you know,
Flair and Jarrett come out after not Steve Michael and
chrispin Wall though, which was weird because they were the
next match.
Speaker 1 (01:20:07):
But whatever, after that wild promo with wild Man Lex
Luger with the wild hair where he just woke up,
he just woke up that Dan and said, oh well,
left out. It is now time for Lex Luger against
arn Anderson. Even though this this is a match, But
(01:20:29):
we got to talk about what Dessi Road is talking about.
Speaker 2 (01:20:31):
Oh no, did I for did I not.
Speaker 1 (01:20:35):
Because this show.
Speaker 3 (01:20:39):
It's great to see a referee the caliber Mark Curtis
step into w c W a reluptive newcomer. But pick
up the slack dropped by Nick Patrick. If he asked
for me literally turned on w c W tonight, that would.
Speaker 6 (01:20:53):
Be a good spot for what you said.
Speaker 3 (01:20:56):
You hit it right on the head when you can't
think of something to say, say, you hit.
Speaker 6 (01:20:59):
It on the head is a verbic and vocabulary for that.
And you hit it on the head.
Speaker 9 (01:21:04):
Refferly doing his job out there right now, not reaching
in his pocket and clapping out rings.
Speaker 1 (01:21:11):
I don't know what the hell he's talking about. Oh, Dusty,
Dusty rhodes Man, the greatest, the greatest, the greatest of
all time. So yeah, you mentioned all right, so now
we know where that comes from.
Speaker 2 (01:21:29):
Yes, but I will always remember the clip we have
now of that.
Speaker 1 (01:21:35):
Yeah that's now I'm playing this is now the times
to play it right, like.
Speaker 2 (01:21:42):
No, yeah, yeah, that was when I clipped this one.
Speaker 6 (01:21:49):
Well, love, don't do that bullah boola boola.
Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
It was actually the month before at Fall Brown ninety six,
So oh my.
Speaker 1 (01:21:57):
God, how about the hell. It's still funny though they
kept it up body Holly. Apparently it's responsible for Boola boola,
So there's that. But like I said, Luke Luga looks
like he lost his mind. He really did lose his
mind during this match. He just started beating the hell
out of arn Anderson with a steel chair because referee
(01:22:17):
was dazed and confused. At one point, he then hoist
arn Anderson up in the torture racked, made him submit,
and then kept him in the hole for like another
twenty minutes. And Anderson is up there writhing in pain. Oh,
even the dungeon the doom is chairing and on there
like yeah, break his back. And then finally after Lex
lugas finally done with this man breaking his back, that's
(01:22:39):
when Flair and Jeff Jared decided to come out and
their street clothes to check on him. Also, Jeff Jared
not officially a horseman yet, so just still he's still
out there though, but supporting this guy. So but looks
like a spot is opening up pretty soon, Jeff, because
arn Anderson gets stretched out of the arena, so they
might have an opening soon. They kept they kept your
(01:23:02):
application on file. Okay, but now we're backstage with Lee Marshall,
who was promoting the hotline with some inside info.
Speaker 2 (01:23:15):
Was gone. He was probably I remember during the w
O beginning of it, he left for a few months
and I think he came back once he had a
new deal. So this is what must have been during
that time frame where no mean Gene.
Speaker 1 (01:23:32):
I guess, man, weird to see no mean gene time.
Speaker 2 (01:23:36):
Yeah, I'll probably watch his promos like we need Gene back.
Speaker 1 (01:23:42):
We like Lee Marshall, No, but we need Gene. We
need you can do a thing. But moving on from that, Okay,
we're backstage with still with Lee Marshall. He's now talking
to Harlem heat and Colonel Robert Parker, the incredibly racist
(01:24:08):
Colonel Robert Parker in character only and sensational share because
even look, the n w A was so bad that
even Colonel Robert Parker didn't like.
Speaker 2 (01:24:21):
They must be real bad, right.
Speaker 1 (01:24:27):
Instead of those black folks. I don't know who how
he was in real life. But man, when they come
out with chains when for their debut and he's talking
like the way he talks, you can't think for help,
You can't help but think about anti Bellum South, like
come on, what are we doing here? Okay, but even
Robert Parker doesn't like the n w OL. Then Booker says,
(01:24:50):
we're gonna be like a football team, and he's a
book He said he was running back. Stevie Ray was
a nose guard. Share we be And I guess Robert
Parker was the head coach, because that's what most white
guys are in the NFL, they're head coaches. But given
Booker t size, I don't think Booker T would be
a running back. He's like six y five, slim, like
(01:25:13):
you know, not slim, but like, you know, like slimmer.
Then a running back generally, he would be more like
a wide receiver, big body, wide receiver, like an AJ
Brown who's on pace for like seventeen hundred yards. I
don't know if you saw that.
Speaker 2 (01:25:26):
No, he's definitely a different speker on the field for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:25:29):
For sure, we got him. For sure. He's a difference maker,
which is what everybody knew. Like AJ Brown, he's pretty
pretty good, pretty good guy, pretty good player that AJ Brown.
Pretty good. We move on from that, though. We got
more four horsemen, all right, Steve McMichael and Crisp and Wah.
They're going up against the faces of feet again.
Speaker 2 (01:25:51):
They're getting ready for the matches, but they couldn't come
out to check on arn Anderson.
Speaker 1 (01:25:55):
Well, they getting ready for their match.
Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
We wait, so that means they're ready to come out,
So let's go check on your guy. Even women, like
a few months ago when night and like she was
crying and our with ron in her hands, like man,
even not even woman didn't come out devastating hell? Did
(01:26:17):
it art due to them?
Speaker 1 (01:26:19):
I don't know, man, They didn't bag with them like that.
They had to worry about the Faces of Fear more
more terrifying than r Anderson is? Are there Ming and
the Barbarian?
Speaker 2 (01:26:27):
That's true? That is very true.
Speaker 1 (01:26:29):
Okay, you gotta all your energy on Ming and Barbarian. Okay,
this match, I don't remember anything from this match. All
I remember there is that after the Horsemen won, the
Faces of Fear got their hands in the briefcase instead
of using it on the Horsemen, and they got their
(01:26:50):
hand in the Hallo Burton all right. Then the Conan
and Bubba also jump over the guardrail and they joined
in the fight. Kevin Sullivan joins in too, and they
just beat up McMichael and Ben Wah in front of women.
And you got Sullivan, specifically beating up Ben Wir in
front of women. Of course, we know a lot of
personal history between those three, but we're moving on. We're
(01:27:13):
back in the crowd with Teddy Biassi, who was the
hype man for the nWo. Apparently, he introduces the Outsiders,
who are coming out for the next match, which is
for the World Tag Team titles, the Outsiders challenging Harlem Heats. Now,
this is the Outsiders first title match. You know what's
(01:27:33):
gonna happen here. The Outsiders is gonna win, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:27:38):
I was afraid of that.
Speaker 1 (01:27:40):
They even held up the titles before the match. For
some reason, they got their hands in the titles. The
fans cheered when they held up the belts. Not a
great look for WSW. NWA was just doing stuff disrespectful
to everybody else.
Speaker 2 (01:27:57):
Was still like heels tactically. The way they won the
tag titles. It was on a night tro I remember
it was like a three way match, and I believe
Sting and Luger were the tag chips at the time,
and somebody rolled up, somebody, Booker t rolled up, somebody,
I think, and they wound up winning. And uh, but
(01:28:17):
they it was always like second fiddle to the nWo.
So of course you got to put those tag titles
on the Outsiders to get them more TV time, I guess,
But yeah, it was like, I guess you could consider
the Outsiders faces based on that reaction, but I mean
booking wise, it was heel versus heel here, so it's
(01:28:39):
very strange.
Speaker 1 (01:28:41):
The Outsiders couldn't have been faces though they'd the warring.
Speaker 2 (01:28:44):
Right, I mean the storyline, didn't. You know they've put
the fact that, like you said, crowd cheered when they
held up the titles.
Speaker 1 (01:28:53):
It is like, damn, because they were cooler and they
made every effort to be cooler, like they or they
made them look cooler.
Speaker 2 (01:29:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:29:01):
By the way, uh, the claim just had everybody turn
to the left and the right and scissor me like
they're in church. So just just the thing then, also
also the Tales and the Territories. Dark Side of the
Ring twitter account said they had a photo that says
(01:29:24):
tweet says sound advice from last night's premiere episodes. I
guess it's aired yesterday.
Speaker 2 (01:29:28):
We just missed it.
Speaker 1 (01:29:30):
That's not Dark Side of the Ring no more baby.
Maybe it didn't come up with that either way, the
photo says personal issues draw money, so like yeah, but
also you gotta draw the money if.
Speaker 2 (01:29:44):
Tales from the Territories.
Speaker 1 (01:29:47):
Yeah, so it's it was gonna face Billy Gunn Right.
Speaker 2 (01:29:53):
Has it been changed from Dark Side of the Ring too,
Tails from the Territories or is it.
Speaker 1 (01:29:57):
Just a different series this but now it's the same
people though.
Speaker 2 (01:30:01):
So from the executive.
Speaker 1 (01:30:05):
Same people pretty much? Okay, So back to Halloween have
it though, Scott Hall sexually assaults Sherry again by kissing
her against her will. The fans next ninety six naturally cheered,
of course, because you know, casual sexual assault is funny.
At least it was back then. But at one point
Booker t he hit the Halem hangover, looking like Hallum
(01:30:28):
he was gonna win and retain their titles. However, Kevin
Nash got his hands on Robert Parker's cane and hit
Stevie Ray with it while he was covering Scott Hall. Okay,
Hall then slowly drapes his arms or his arm I
should say, over Stevie Ray and gets the three count
to make him and Kevin Nash the new WCW World
(01:30:52):
Tag Team Champions. They already got the world title you
know they will get the tag titles as well. Robert Parker,
he just ran away because he knew Hall them. He
was probably whoop his ass anyway for what happened. Have
been messing up for weeks up until this point. They said, yeah,
so this was the end of the line. Robert park That.
Speaker 2 (01:31:09):
Might have been his uh last appearance. I don't remember
a bunch of him throwing the course of this storyline.
Then he went to WWF.
Speaker 1 (01:31:18):
And it looked better. We're Sherry anyway, so it's true,
just they just fit better. We move on from that though,
we got new World Tag Team Champions. We move on
from that, though we get a really weird promo for
World War Three.
Speaker 2 (01:31:31):
I didn't what the hell was going on again. Some
of the worst pay per view thing hates I've ever
seen came from WCW in this era. I was just
gonna c I was gonna clip it. But then it's like,
we don't even know who's talking, not even a not
even a WSW wrestler in there.
Speaker 1 (01:31:52):
So I was hoping that, like, man, I was watching this,
like I probably should know who that is. He's probably
a wrestler. He's probably on like Saturday night a couple
of times. I did not watch it though, but I'm
glad you hear you say, like he wasn't even arrestling.
Speaker 2 (01:32:04):
I mean, he could have been a job or I
don't know who know that was. Mitchell is probably like
you know, he went to a WCW Saturday Night tape
being it's like, yo, who wants to do this? We're
worth three PA pay per view promo? And maybe someone
raised their hand, but yeah, it was ridiculous for uh
firing on all cylinders with the nWo, and then you're
doing these pay per view promos. I just did not understand.
(01:32:28):
And it's weird because I almost can get it because
it's like we're gonna focus totally all creative week to
week TV the pay per view promots. People are going
to order them anyway, it doesn't really matter. I mean,
I don't necessarily believe in that right now, but I
could see that being the mindset back then too. But
it's still a bad, bad thing. You're still in the
(01:32:49):
infancy of the nWo. I just I don't know why
you do promosts like this. It's just ridiculous. Hated it.
Hated it.
Speaker 1 (01:33:01):
According to that Nick pocon right, there. He said that
that's right, that wasn't me I did. That wasn't an
impersonation of men on film from a living color. That
was Nick Pecone. He said that after that bizarre promo,
we are back at this NW Engrance. It's now time
to see Hollywood Hulk Hogan, the World heavyweight Champion with
(01:33:23):
the new haircut.
Speaker 2 (01:33:25):
Oh wow, by the way, stills of this on night tro,
Like the next night, I was so confused.
Speaker 1 (01:33:32):
Hell, this is where he got that much hair on
top of his head.
Speaker 2 (01:33:35):
I was so confused, like because I think they explained
it on the pay per view, but then on NITRO
they didn't explain that it was like a wig or something.
So I was so confused. I was like, oh my god,
like he has hair. Now. I didn't know what the
hell he was wearing. I didn't realize it was a thing.
Like at that point, I thought I was like, Okay,
he's wearing a wig. But then there were like so
(01:33:55):
many stills of him still wearing it in action, and
then by the end of the match, obviously he wasn't
wearing it. I'm like, what the hell is going on here?
I was like, the roads, what the hell is going on.
Speaker 1 (01:34:06):
Here, the hell's going on?
Speaker 2 (01:34:07):
Heah? I hated it.
Speaker 1 (01:34:12):
Yeah, I can tell I can tell you hated it.
Speaker 2 (01:34:17):
Do not confuse me. Damn it. I was only ten
years old.
Speaker 1 (01:34:21):
He was using this wig or hair or whatever because
he was filming movies. I think at this point he
was doing the Three Ninjas movie, yes, which I think
they said on the on the on the podcast, three
Ninjas High Noon at Mega Mountain, which I believe is
the third movie in this franchise. There's another one. I
(01:34:43):
think the second one is strike Back, Kicked Back, something
like that, and this and Hogan helped round out the
trilogy of Three Ninjas. I will say the original Three
Ninjas classic. I wore that VHS tape out so much
when I was a kid. Have you ever seen Three
Ninjas back in the day.
Speaker 2 (01:35:03):
I believe I saw the original.
Speaker 1 (01:35:05):
I don't remember if I the only one to see.
The only one to see is.
Speaker 2 (01:35:09):
Like on Saturday mornings that I remember. I watched a
lot of movies on Saturday mornings before I watched Nickelodeon Mania.
Speaker 1 (01:35:16):
Yeah, Three Ninjas man staple of my childhood. Watch that
VHS tape numerous times. Have not seen it in a
long time, So I'm about due. Yeah, I'm gonna try
to convince my wife to watch it with me. She
probably would not agree, but uh, it's I'm working on it.
I'm working on it. But World Heavyweight Championship. It is
(01:35:36):
Hawk Hogan defending against macho man Randy Savage. We get
the obscenely expensive Michael Buffer doing the introductions. Hogan's the
first went out.
Speaker 2 (01:35:49):
He's yeah that too.
Speaker 1 (01:35:53):
He's also expensive, which is why he's got the belt.
Speaker 2 (01:35:58):
Monster truck in the background.
Speaker 1 (01:36:01):
Apparently because well before that, Michael Buffer still doing his introduction.
But yet Savage's music starts playing there like, wait a second,
he's not done yet, cut the damn music off.
Speaker 2 (01:36:11):
Okay, well then they knew because because what we were
about to see later on, they need to cut as
much time as possible.
Speaker 1 (01:36:21):
Right. Oh my god, Oh my god, So I forgot
about that man. They said giant, They said giant, and
outsiders were escorted out of the building. Yet there was giant. Okay,
they lied to me. They did face this giant showed
up for the entrance and then showed up after the match. No,
(01:36:41):
before the match was over. He interfered in the finish.
But I thought he was escorted out of the building.
Speaker 2 (01:36:49):
And he was there, came in, he was there the
rest of the time.
Speaker 1 (01:36:53):
They lied to us. Piper was calling him a scout
the whole time. I thought he was out of the building. Okay,
but like you said, we get savagees monster truck. He
joins him for the entrance, and again, what the hell
is this normal? Normal that?
Speaker 2 (01:37:11):
I totally forgot about that because I heard in the
background of your microphone like a car, I guess before
I said, all right, which is why, But that's why? Yeah,
that I totally forgot. It came out with Savage.
Speaker 1 (01:37:27):
Yeah, yeah, so you heard the truck in the background.
I live again West Philly and Market Street. Stuffy happened.
Stuffy going down right, haulk Hogan. He's in the ring.
Well before that, Savage gets on the microphone and demands
that all of Hogan's homies leave. So he whoops, some masks.
(01:37:50):
They did leave. They did leave, at least they left
their like the ring side area. They didn't leave the
building like we were told that they were. That was
when I happened. But okay, Dusty immediately began speculating as
to where Miss Elizabeth is. He has and he even said,
let's speculate here. He had no idea, he had no info,
(01:38:11):
but he was out here speculating. Okay, I just like
the blatant like he not know this might be wrong.
Let's speculate for the fun of it, though exactly, let
you're honest about it. Hogan's out here with the hair, dude,
He's also wrestling with the shades on, the ridiculous looking shades.
I would assume they helped keep the wig on. I
(01:38:31):
don't know either way. At one point, his hair falls
off his head because it's a wig and the colder sack,
the dreaded could de sac was back. No, just when
you thought Hogan had somehow hit the rog Gain up,
he hit up Sly Sterling from WrestleMania ten and got
(01:38:52):
the rod Gang going. No, it was just a wig
and the colder sack was back. Damn Okay, tragic, tragic,
damn shame right, Hogan was was really upset about Oh
my god, Hogan was really upset about losing his hair,
(01:39:13):
and so upset that he started beating the hell out
of Savage with a steel chair that Ryn, by the way.
Bars Then Miss Lizabeth showed up. Hogan yelled at her
to get in his corner, but Savage almost rips his
pants off trying to pin him. I was wild that
only that only happened once. That happened twice, by the way,
(01:39:34):
Hogan was literally out there showing his ass. Okay, what
was actually happening, right, Hogan? He begins to dominate. He
hits the lad drop to put Savage away, but Elizabeth well.
He tries to hit the lady drop to put Savage away,
but Elizabeth throws herself on top of Savage, sacrificing herself
for her man.
Speaker 2 (01:39:55):
Okay, it's not worth it, Liz.
Speaker 1 (01:39:58):
Hogan then attempts to go for a late drop again misses,
but don't worry. Debasi is there to hand him a
foreign object. I thought everybody was supposed to be gone, though,
Why is Dbasi still there? But Elizabeth stepped up for
her man again. She prevents Hogan from using it. Then
Holgan mistakenly clothed lined the referee because reasons, Oh, we
(01:40:23):
know the reasons. It's Nick Patrick, Tom Baby. Because this
was the plan. They always got a plan where they
had a crooked referee. Their other referees tried to stop
him from getting into the ring right like something like that.
But he was in there. He was in there, Savage.
Here the elbow drop in the top rope. The match
should be over. Nick Patrick gets down, he begins to count.
He goes one, two, Oh my neck, I can't possibly
(01:40:48):
count again. That's that's what Dusty Road said.
Speaker 2 (01:40:53):
The third time. In on w's W pay per view
on nineteen ninety six, Dusty Road said, I have all
of them.
Speaker 1 (01:41:03):
Because we heard it at Bash of the Beach.
Speaker 2 (01:41:05):
Yes, we heard it against Halloween.
Speaker 6 (01:41:08):
Have it?
Speaker 2 (01:41:09):
I have it fifty fifty one. This is the beach
that's going on there. This is Great America Bash. When
Mango Kevin Green's there, and this is when Nick Patrick
doesn't count. Ready Savage going over the same exact phrase.
Speaker 1 (01:41:37):
You couldn't believe what he was seeing three times that year.
I think the most impassioned one was when Mongo Kevin Green.
It wasn't even an n w O. It wasn't Nick Patrick.
It was Mongo turned on Kevin Green going on there.
It sounded really upset.
Speaker 2 (01:41:58):
This is Mango turning on Kevin Green.
Speaker 4 (01:42:02):
There.
Speaker 2 (01:42:03):
This is hal Coke and turning on w CW on there.
You can't you can't that sounds you can't like we
said before Mago joining the Horseman and hal Coke and
turning his back on w CW.
Speaker 1 (01:42:17):
Same same according to Dusty Road, same reaction, No.
Speaker 2 (01:42:22):
Different, just a little bit different for Brandy mcpatrick, not
counting Randy Savage's.
Speaker 1 (01:42:31):
A little that much different, just a little maybe just
a sound quality.
Speaker 2 (01:42:34):
That's maybe I didn't do a good dumb job at
the saying that bit rate.
Speaker 1 (01:42:39):
But oh man, what a time, What a time Savage.
He's pissed off at Nickpatrick rightfully, so he at tax Skpatrick.
Hogan tries to use it for an object again, but
Savage thwarts him and uses it on Hogan himself. Savage
goes back to the top rope, but now here comes
dB As, preventing him from jumping from the top bro.
(01:43:03):
Savage goes to rough up Ted d Biassi, but out
comes the giant. You know that guy was supposed to
be escorted out.
Speaker 2 (01:43:08):
The one who got beat beat by Jeff shared earlier
in the night.
Speaker 1 (01:43:11):
They kicked him out, they said, get out of here.
They just let him walk back into the ring.
Speaker 6 (01:43:18):
Right.
Speaker 1 (01:43:19):
He grabs Randy Savage, he choke slams him on the
floor and Tony Shavanni goes, we have been ripped off.
That's not something you probably should say to the paper
view viewers because they feel like they've been ripped off.
I'm pretty sure somebody was like, hey, Tony Sevanni said,
we got ripped off, so I want my money back.
Did you watch the show, yeah? Did you enjoy the show? Yeah,
(01:43:40):
But Tony Shavanni said, I got ripped off, so I
want my money back. All right, run me my money
this network, come on, okay, Pop Vision, give me my
money back. Okay. Giant takes Holgan's arm drapes it over
Savage Patrick. Nick Patrick, after a whole night of having
(01:44:02):
neck pain and preventing him set next pain preventing him
from counting to three, he runs over, dives on the floor,
happily counts to three, stands up, shirt ripped up, and
all to crown. Hogan is still the champion. There was
so much nonsense in this match. Nick Patrick is right
(01:44:23):
far through it all. He got beat up, spit on,
neck hurt, still counting to three, abiding by the referees
code that we don't know about. To count to three,
the Giant becomes a Giant maid because he just brings
(01:44:45):
out a bowl of ice. What the hell? Why would
he be responsible for this? He went backstage to get
his man's a bowl of ice and.
Speaker 2 (01:44:59):
That bowl to bring it back out, what.
Speaker 1 (01:45:03):
Just to throw it on Holgans After this, after this
whole thing, Hogan is like knocked out. He barely won.
He wasn't even conscious for the finish, Giant throws the
ice on him, wakes up Holgan. Hogan's like what what happened?
He's ready to fight, and then he realizes, oh wait,
I'm the champion still all right, Now it's party time
and Giants just there and serving as homie.
Speaker 2 (01:45:22):
Right.
Speaker 1 (01:45:23):
Meanwhile, Savage is being carried out of the arena like
that slim Gym promotion had was no match for haul Comania. Okay,
if there's one show to have Savage win the title,
it's to show that's built around the brand. He's the
face of this slim Gym's he's got slim Jim attire.
(01:45:46):
They got slim Gym in the ring, aprons, slim Jim
in the ring, slim Jim monster trucks they gave away,
and he's still lost to Haul Cogan. Damn, they couldn't
even give him a night with the slim gym tie in. Nah,
you got to take this l brother brother brother, Okay.
(01:46:07):
Hogan then cuts a promo, another promo, and then bagpipes
start playing. Wait to how the bagpipes coming from? What
that kild? No way? That could only mean? Is it him?
Speaker 6 (01:46:22):
It is?
Speaker 1 (01:46:24):
It's rowdy rowdy Piper who had someone behind him. Who
the hell was that?
Speaker 2 (01:46:29):
I don't even notice, but maybe it was uh, I
don't know, the dude that was in WWF in ninety
four that was with him as well. That's all I
could think of.
Speaker 1 (01:46:42):
Maybe either way. Hogan's face is hysterical while Piper is
walking out. His mouth is just a gaited because it's
Piper and they announced they're all happy. Yeah, it's Roddy Piper,
as if Savage just didn't get cheated for the titles
now being dragged out of.
Speaker 2 (01:46:58):
The arena like the one the same thing to paper, right,
and they did, by the.
Speaker 1 (01:47:03):
Way, Piper gets into the ring and he says hi,
and Hogan says high back, and off we go with
a very bizarre promo.
Speaker 2 (01:47:15):
Long it's one of my favorite things ever. It's nine
and a half minutes, so we're gonna play it all,
we're gonna live react in real time, uh, starting when
Hogan starts talking, because I gotta hear the bagpipees.
Speaker 11 (01:47:26):
Brother, now's any question? Who the real okay of Hollywood?
Speaker 1 (01:47:36):
It's a sick.
Speaker 2 (01:47:38):
Well he's a lucky man.
Speaker 6 (01:47:39):
I'm tired of Tad Turner. I'm taking over that w W.
Speaker 11 (01:47:45):
Everybody that gets in the ring with the end wo
or Hollywood Hault Hogan, it's going down and all I
got to say, wh you definitely got the right train
because we're heading out of town.
Speaker 3 (01:48:09):
Well, ladies and gentlemen, Hollywood Hult Cogan retains the World
heavyweight title.
Speaker 6 (01:48:16):
Thanks to what is that? What's just all about?
Speaker 2 (01:48:22):
Who put into summer? What is it?
Speaker 6 (01:48:26):
There's no other match schedule.
Speaker 1 (01:48:28):
I listen, sounds like what I'm gonna tell you what
it sounds like. Was guy's a big old chill bump
running up and down my spine right now, I'm.
Speaker 3 (01:48:41):
Talking about sounds like bagpipes to me, Oh no, what
is Bobby?
Speaker 2 (01:48:46):
He gonna say, oh no.
Speaker 6 (01:48:50):
Wow, look at that.
Speaker 1 (01:48:53):
And they don't have him on camera yet.
Speaker 8 (01:48:54):
By the way, my goodness, it's Roddy Roddy Piper, no
doubt about it.
Speaker 1 (01:49:04):
It looks just like him out of nowhere.
Speaker 6 (01:49:06):
Look at her. Robbin's face does don't want to see.
That's one man who has wanted hog his life. He's
started in this business, I'm right.
Speaker 2 (01:49:17):
Is the guy that beat gold dust.
Speaker 6 (01:49:19):
He wants no part roddy Roddy Piper. And once again
w c W has just shut the world.
Speaker 1 (01:49:30):
So Hoogu's still the champ.
Speaker 2 (01:49:33):
He Rodney Paper even says he's not here for w CW, so.
Speaker 6 (01:49:36):
He talks even think about it.
Speaker 2 (01:49:42):
Look a a Ronnie talk.
Speaker 8 (01:49:47):
Hi Hi, Hi.
Speaker 6 (01:49:53):
Sow. You're bored?
Speaker 2 (01:49:54):
Are you ain't bored anymore?
Speaker 8 (01:50:00):
I've come here to break your monotony.
Speaker 6 (01:50:07):
Scrout scroute.
Speaker 2 (01:50:10):
Why don't you the giant back.
Speaker 6 (01:50:11):
With a jolly green giant and take a break.
Speaker 1 (01:50:16):
The clown giant on this night? Man? What giant? Go
back to giants?
Speaker 6 (01:50:24):
A communication here?
Speaker 11 (01:50:25):
Because when I said that I made wrestling, when I
said I oh wrestling and I control wrestling.
Speaker 6 (01:50:35):
Now that I really think.
Speaker 11 (01:50:36):
About it, I remember that you and I were running
neck and neck.
Speaker 6 (01:50:43):
Why don't you second.
Speaker 2 (01:50:48):
Oh my god, you're trying to make peace.
Speaker 8 (01:50:50):
Rod to represent the w c W, the n W A,
the s p c A, the s O B what
so I could be?
Speaker 11 (01:51:01):
What do be?
Speaker 6 (01:51:03):
What I want to be?
Speaker 2 (01:51:05):
I love that one.
Speaker 1 (01:51:07):
What I do?
Speaker 2 (01:51:08):
I do real careful. Just because one paper doesn't mean
you can test the money being real careful.
Speaker 8 (01:51:19):
I'll tell you something there, Charlie Brown, you've been saying
that if it wasn't for you, professional wrestling wouldn't be.
Speaker 6 (01:51:28):
What it is today. Boy, do I got news for you.
Speaker 2 (01:51:34):
He just said you were and de right.
Speaker 6 (01:51:35):
A reality check their partner.
Speaker 8 (01:51:38):
I've come because you see, I'm just as big an
icon in this part as you are.
Speaker 6 (01:51:49):
I hope I am just.
Speaker 8 (01:51:51):
As big a Hollywood movie star as you are. Okay,
you know, let me have my I'm shoe.
Speaker 2 (01:52:05):
He's shooting. He shot this podcast, righty, Piper shooting?
Speaker 1 (01:52:09):
Oh man?
Speaker 6 (01:52:10):
Whoa?
Speaker 8 (01:52:10):
I started fighting Pearl when I was fifteen years old.
I've had over six thousand professional matchess. I've been stabbed
three times.
Speaker 12 (01:52:19):
Oh my god, sprout sit back, sprout, scout, sprout mouth, Come.
Speaker 2 (01:52:31):
On, Piper taking his dad time.
Speaker 8 (01:52:37):
Where were you when I was fifteen years old taking
on old comers in a garage? Where are you playing
the bass guitar in Tutsy's barn drill?
Speaker 1 (01:52:47):
Huh?
Speaker 2 (01:52:49):
Where is that?
Speaker 1 (01:52:49):
Ask?
Speaker 6 (01:52:50):
Where were you?
Speaker 1 (01:52:51):
I guess I'm where in Tampa?
Speaker 2 (01:52:54):
Piper.
Speaker 11 (01:52:55):
I'm gonna call a spade a spade. We ran together
there the heck with a backstory. We fought together. And
I don't have a problem with you, because, okay, as
you've been out of Hollywood making all those movies and
becoming a multi millionaire, I have to think back and
(01:53:18):
give the devil his due.
Speaker 6 (01:53:20):
We ran neck and neck. No, no, not yet, not yet,
not yet, not yet.
Speaker 1 (01:53:26):
You remember wrestle.
Speaker 2 (01:53:29):
Roddy Piper always bringing up after his program.
Speaker 6 (01:53:33):
What the hell if I locked out?
Speaker 8 (01:53:36):
Mister t took on the New York City Police depart
My guys had my way, would let Rocky if they
would hate me so much? You think they would have
been chearing you so much?
Speaker 1 (01:53:50):
Good question to make a point, they finished. But also
you can't just mention WrestleMania miss a tea in New.
Speaker 6 (01:53:58):
York, whether you know what bother you.
Speaker 8 (01:54:01):
I'm the only guy you have never been able to beat.
Speaker 2 (01:54:09):
He's right, Oh, said the same thing. And he came
back two years later.
Speaker 1 (01:54:15):
Just knocking him down.
Speaker 8 (01:54:16):
Big, and I caught him this sport and whether you
want to say it or not, you at least have
the thoughts to put your hand out and you shake
my hand, and you admit that it isn't you that
brought all these people here.
Speaker 6 (01:54:30):
It's all these people here that made you.
Speaker 2 (01:54:35):
Why'd you come here? Roddy too, I'll be glad to.
Speaker 11 (01:54:41):
Let me tell you something, Piper. We've had wars to
settle the score which didn't get settled.
Speaker 1 (01:54:49):
And I thought you's another WWS show.
Speaker 6 (01:54:52):
A peace with yourself.
Speaker 11 (01:54:54):
But now that I see you face to face.
Speaker 6 (01:54:58):
The honest man that I am. Yes, I admit.
Speaker 11 (01:55:07):
As big a superstar as I am.
Speaker 1 (01:55:17):
Then straighten up, Yeah, straight up.
Speaker 11 (01:55:22):
Oh, by the way, Piper, on the way out, when
you go to the bathroom, you're supposed to squat in
that one.
Speaker 1 (01:55:33):
He's talking about.
Speaker 6 (01:55:36):
I'll tell you what.
Speaker 2 (01:55:37):
It's wearing a shirt. You see.
Speaker 6 (01:55:39):
Something. I've had enough.
Speaker 11 (01:55:41):
Let me tell you something.
Speaker 5 (01:55:43):
No, I've had enough, Hollywood in the n w O,
you stepped back into my world. I can still see
you've got to make up on your face, Piper, and
the way it goes now that I look in your eyes,
maybe you need to have the war that it didn't
settle the store something.
Speaker 6 (01:56:06):
No reason you got no hair and what you're gonna
throw upon it. Your day's coming.
Speaker 2 (01:56:12):
Are you entertained yet?
Speaker 6 (01:56:16):
Sprout? Your days?
Speaker 11 (01:56:17):
Come upper?
Speaker 6 (01:56:18):
Come on, giants, all fair, we have to go tell
you something.
Speaker 11 (01:56:23):
Still on the boss, Let's go.
Speaker 1 (01:56:26):
I'm the boss.
Speaker 6 (01:56:28):
You know why you forgot something? Now we got a problem.
Speaker 2 (01:56:34):
The problem you're running along, Ronnie.
Speaker 6 (01:56:37):
Tell you what my think this problem is here.
Speaker 1 (01:56:40):
I thought you gotta get out of here. Good not
everybody else.
Speaker 6 (01:56:46):
You're gonna have this for now. But I'm telling you
something I want what.
Speaker 2 (01:56:51):
The air like that goes off the air like that.
It's my favorite thing from that era. I don't know why.
I love it's They replayed the promo the night after
on Nitro, so I watched it for the first time
on Nitro and I was like, man, I wish I
ordered Halloway Navic. I was so angry, maybe because I
(01:57:13):
was grounded. I was like, I'm never going to be
grounded again. You know, I wish I saw this live.
But I love that they replayed it on Nitro, And yeah,
it was great. I loved it. I loved everything about it.
Just Piper's surprise, Piper winding up to go actually beat him.
Two months later in Starcade with for not the title
(01:57:35):
not title match. But I just love it the way.
I don't know why.
Speaker 1 (01:57:40):
Maybe it's just the era, right, I don't know why
I need it.
Speaker 2 (01:57:43):
The era, I guess with me not seeing it live
and it hits a special point in my I don't know, man,
I just can't. I can't really explain it the way
I guess Dynamite's fifteen minutes long long nurse this week. Okay,
I was gonna say the main events about the start
(01:58:04):
nine fifty seven right now, but wow, But yeah, I
just I love the promo and I I just find
it funny that Piper was invoking WWT like every turn,
you know, it felt like and uh, it never stopped
every single promo. He was talking about being in the
president of WWS for you know, WrestleMania stuff like that.
So I don't know, man, I just felt like they
(01:58:26):
were shooting. I just love it.
Speaker 1 (01:58:30):
They were shooting too long, though, shut.
Speaker 2 (01:58:32):
Yeah, yeah it was. It was hilarious to me.
Speaker 1 (01:58:36):
Shut up. Its gracious, it's so long. They bring it up.
WrestleMania and Waters the Score. People don't know. Water stead
of the Score was the big MTV show they did
before WrestleMania.
Speaker 2 (01:58:50):
I didn't even realize that.
Speaker 1 (01:58:51):
In February, so it's like it was and then that
main event was Piper versus Hogan. It was like you
know WrestleMania one where it was a tag team match
that was the one on one, which you know, obviously
they had the celebrities involved for WrestleMania, but when you
talk about just wrestling wise, that was the big match yep.
So they're bringing WWS stuff up. It's like, what the
(01:59:14):
hell are we doing? They're talking about movies and Roddy
Piper had did this thing, don't get me wrong, like
did they live and some other stuff, but like who
gives a damn at the end of the show exactly,
Holdan just cheated to win the title. Are you gonna
fight somebody? Piper? Like, what are we doing here? I
didn't understand it. I didn't understand it, bro. And you know,
it's unlike for a lack of talent, everybody's got talent.
Speaker 2 (01:59:36):
Well that's the problem we have. When you say Piper
go out there and talk, it's like you need he
needs to follow, you know, a certain structure, and he
just never did. He never cared to.
Speaker 1 (01:59:49):
Yeah, I don't know it was weird, but that is
Halloween Havoc nineteen ninety six.
Speaker 2 (01:59:55):
We have covered Halloween have like ninety four, ninety five,
ninety six, ninety seven, did ninety four? Ninety four we
did ninety four and ninety five. Last was that the
one with the steel cage and the electric chair and flair?
Speaker 1 (02:00:09):
Oh was the retirement match?
Speaker 2 (02:00:11):
What we didn't do Chamber of Horrors.
Speaker 1 (02:00:13):
I don't think we haven't done that one.
Speaker 2 (02:00:16):
We might have to add something to this, but we did.
Speaker 1 (02:00:18):
We did do ninety four. I do remember, yes, uh
real quick. Will Nightingales getting another TBS title shot on
T and T against Jane Cargill this week. She might
win that. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:00:32):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (02:00:33):
She might win that.
Speaker 2 (02:00:34):
But j Cargill lose with no like.
Speaker 1 (02:00:37):
I just don't understand why they have j Cargo with
TBS champion on tn T every week. Yeah, it doesn't
make any sense.
Speaker 2 (02:00:44):
Well, she does is like an interview, an interview thing
now like.
Speaker 1 (02:00:49):
TBS though she's a TBS champion. Stupid TBS.
Speaker 2 (02:00:54):
That's what I figured when they introduced the TBS title.
You just switch them, make the TNT title the women's title.
It's just they is.
Speaker 1 (02:01:02):
Out here defending the TNT title on TBS. I don't
know why am I the only one who complains about this?
It's just an easy thing to keep track of who's
on what network with the title that they represent.
Speaker 2 (02:01:16):
I agree. Once once they knew they were moving Dynamite
to TBS, and they're like, well, you know we're not
going to make a change, why don't you just make
if you could just switch it, like Jay Karkill could
be the T and T champion and we're lot could
be the TBS champion, Like it really does not matter,
(02:01:36):
Like you could just switch it. It's wrestling, professional wrestling.
Speaker 1 (02:01:40):
Sammy is in the ring, Sammy gvar and he's getting
it's getting ugly. Everybody tweet the chance that he's getting
right now, that's getting ugly.
Speaker 2 (02:01:50):
He's in the main event of this show where Ty
got sent home. It's like if Sammy started the physical altercation,
this is messed up.
Speaker 1 (02:01:57):
So I don't know. I don't know. But Halloween having
ninety six a strange, strange ending, strange, strange.
Speaker 2 (02:02:07):
Piper talking I love it.
Speaker 1 (02:02:09):
Right on pay per view? Would you have to go
off their it's heart out? I don't know. What's going
on but strange stuff Halloween having ninety six interesting show.
I did like the nw A thing when they were
coming out through the crowd. They just scrapped that after
a little while. But this is a fun show to watch.
Even with Piper and Hogan, uh, you know, battling on
(02:02:32):
at the end. This is still an entating watch. So uh,
if you're okay with it, I'm good with some plugs
to take us out of episode. So plug away.
Speaker 2 (02:02:44):
Please have a Battle of the Belts four after Rampage
on Friday. Wait what yeah, so you have a Rampage
of ten and Battle of the Belts at eleven. They don't
even give a crap about this.
Speaker 1 (02:02:56):
No, no, no, no, no, Why would you do that? Why
would you battle? That's why wouldn't the special replace Rampage
for the week?
Speaker 2 (02:03:04):
And why did not make it two hours?
Speaker 1 (02:03:06):
Oh yeah, well just do that. Just make it two hours.
Go from make rampage one? What?
Speaker 2 (02:03:12):
Yeah, the Battle of the Belts is one hour?
Speaker 1 (02:03:14):
Right, I don't get it. It doesn't make any sense.
But here they are. Here they are aw still trucking
along doing anything. Man, It's just it's kind of a
mess right now. Hey, and it's kind of wild to
see how we've gotten here when it comes to kind
of the good will and people like when they see
(02:03:35):
the cracks in the foundation now people are pointing them out.
These cracks in this foundation have probably been there the
whole time, but yet you know, here they are now
and they're on Fun Street. Everybody's noticing because it's what
is it like, it's it's a good it's a good
will gone away.
Speaker 2 (02:03:51):
Like we didn't really get a lot of bad stage
news in AW for a long time.
Speaker 1 (02:03:55):
Well, everything was great and copa state.
Speaker 2 (02:04:00):
There were no leaks, and now leaks see them.
Speaker 1 (02:04:02):
Punk arrived and things.
Speaker 2 (02:04:03):
Change, the leaks started coming.
Speaker 1 (02:04:07):
Who knows, man, this is rough, rough stuff going on
in AW. But please thanks, yes, check us out with
some plugs please on episode three forty one.
