"Straight Words With Naba'a Richard Muhammad, Bj Murphy, and James G. Muhammad" continued its move into the digital space May 27 with our discussion, "Straight Words: “Cops, Black Women & Abuse: Not Even Cadets Are Safe."
One guest Cariol Horne, a Black officer who was assaulted and fired from the Buffalo, N.Y., police force for stopping a White officer from choking a handcuffed Black man in 2006. Her pension was taken and eventually restored but she still works for justice and is still targeted by Buffalo PD.
We also had Rev. Corine Mack, who leads the NAACP in Charlotte, N.C., Beatrice X and Uncle Bobby (Cephus X Johnson) of the Love Not Blood Campaign as guests.
The sisters talked about the toll police abuse, violence, organizing and the toll it takes on Black women.
We also discussed the need for unity and increased organizing beyond just calling for unity--a cry that is made all the time. And, we talked about dealing with the fratricidal violence in our community, continually pulling our people toward the light and teaching them, and holding our family members accountable for ignoring or harboring those who are are killing and destroying our people. That conduct is an impediment to unity and we must fight a war on two fronts as Min. Farrakhan has said. We must also understand that America is under divine chastisement and doomed for destruction as prophesized in the Bible and Holy Qur'an, and that final day of judgement is swiftly approaching. If we don't change, we can be caught up in a judgement not intended for us.
We discussed the crisis with police officers, their violations and crimes against Black females. We’re on X\Twitter Spaces every Tuesday, 9pm to Midnight Central.
