Teri Schmidt (00:00):
Welcome back to
Strong Leaders Serve and to our
(00:03):
last episode of 2024.
For today, I'm going to keep itshort, but in case you don't
know me already, I'm TerriSchmidt, executive and
leadership coach at StrongLeaders Serve, where we partner
with compassionate, drivenleaders and their teams to turn
potential into performance.
And this is the Strong LeaderServe podcast.
(00:39):
So as promised, I'll keep itshort today.
I have one challenge for youtoday that you can complete in
as little as 30 minutes.
So if you're someone who alwayshas the best intentions of doing
some end of year reflection andnew year planning, but it never
seems to happen in the midst ofthe holiday busyness, this
episode's for you.
(01:00):
So here's your challenge.
As you say goodbye to 2024.
I challenge to ask yourselfthree questions.
Number one, what is one thing inyour leadership that you want to
stop doing?
Now, if you need help, check outepisode 152, where I talk
specifically about askingyourself this exact question and
(01:22):
how it can benefit your day today leadership.
If what you need to stop doinginvolves delegation, check out
episode 153 where we talkedabout being a DINO.
D I N O.
Or Delegator in Name Only.
So that's the first question.
What is one thing that you needto stop doing?
The second question, what is onething that you want to continue
(01:45):
doing something that went wellthis year and really aligns with
who you want to be as acompassionate driven leader?
And then finally, you canprobably guess the last question
is what is one thing that in2025 you want to start doing?
Now, this could be very small, adaily habit, perhaps that you
want to integrate into yourleadership, or maybe it's
(02:09):
something a little bit larger.
a long term goal that you wantto plan out the path for
achieving.
Now, if you need someinspiration for these three
questions, here are some of myfavorite episodes from this
season.
First, our most recent episode, episode 169, where we talked
about the power of contemplativeleadership, particularly if
(02:30):
you're looking for somethingWhere you can get away from the
busyness of the holiday seasonand really take a deep look into
who you want to be as a leader.
I highly recommend this episode.
Next, how to disagreerespectfully.
And we're not talking about howto agree to disagree.
We talked on episode 154 withJustin Jones Fosu exactly about
(02:55):
that, especially in our dividedworkplaces and divided
communities.
We talked about the power ofdisagreeing respectfully, and
how you can do that effectivelyeven in the most challenging of
situations.
Another one, episode 162, ifyou're looking for how to make
work decisions faster as a team.
(03:16):
We talked that episode with JaySilver about the little changes
that can lead to big gains bothwith regards to making team
decisions and other practices atwork that can lead to greater
personal fulfillment and teamachievement.
Next, remember when we talkedwith Maria Ross about the
(03:36):
empathy dilemma.
That was on episode 161.
We Doug into what to do whenpeople on your team are in your
workplace might be weaponizingempathy and how to both be
compassionate and driven.
And then finally, episode one 60with Urs Koenig about humble
(03:56):
leadership.
If you are really looking for,as he says, how to be a badass
leader and a good person, Ihighly recommend this episode.
We talked about how integratingradical humility into your
leadership actually makes Yourworkplace more efficient.
So if you're looking forsomething that increases
efficiency in your workplace, while also increasing leader and
(04:21):
employee wellbeing, I highlyrecommend episode one 60.
Of course, I loved all of theepisodes this year, but those
are some that I think would beparticularly helpful as you're
taking on this reflectionchallenge.
Of.
Thinking about what you want tostop doing in your leadership,
what you want to continue doingin your leadership.
And what you want to start doingin your leadership.
(04:43):
So I hope this is helpful foryou.
