Speaker 1 (00:15):
all right, welcome
back guys.
Suki Siva is here and this weekwe are talking spring break.
Yes, so usually when we thinkspring break, we we're thinking,
you know, around Easter time, the one week that everybody can
travel, but spring is actuallyfrom March 20th to June 20th in
2025.
It's a whole big window to picka big ass window.
(00:38):
Yes, and I'm an empty nesterand Denise is almost an empty
nester.
She's like, yes, she's rightthere.
So spring break means somethingdifferent to us.
We get to still plan and dospring break if we want grown up
spring break.
Right, it's fabulous.
We don't have to worry aboutschool calendars and we don't
(01:01):
have to worry about travelingduring the peak season, because
spring break usually fallsaround the same time, mid-march,
closer to easter, depending onwhen.
So it might be april, dependingon when easter falls, but it
falls on 4 20 this year it doessomething too that means right,
but spring break for schoolstend to be in march and then I
(01:22):
think even the one I thinkthey're in march this year,
maybe even they are, and I thinkup north it tends to be in
March, and then I think, eventhe one I think they're in March
this year, maybe even yeah, andI think up north it tends to be
because it's so much colderthat they wait till like
April-ish to do spring breaks.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
But yeah, I think the
further south you go, the
earlier it is and colleges areearlier.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Yeah, colleges are
earlier.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
Notoriously northern
people have later like starting
of school year which pushes backspring break.
Yeah, notoriously Northernpeople have later like starting
of school year which pushes backspring break.
But interesting, it is all youhave to if you want to not take
your children out of school, which that could be a whole
topic in itself, because I'mhappy to take my kids out of
school depending on what theirage level of, as they're in
(02:02):
kindergarten, I get it.
If you're up there in highschool and you've got
accountability with attendance, that's obviously a harder and a
different issue.
But I think we are slaves tothe school calendar.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Right and typically
when you think travel right and
when you think travel duringspring break, it is one of the
busiest times for families totravel, which means that spine
demand that's also one of themore expensive times to travel.
So now that we are grownups andtrying to experience grownup
spring break, we have the wholetime from March 20th to June
(02:37):
20th to actually plan somefreedom my friend freedom, so
put in your time and you're nowat the point where you have some
a little more freedom Right.
So what does spring break looklike for us grownups by
ourselves?
Let's talk about spring breakdestinations for grownups.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
Yeah.
So I think topping out 2025,.
Let's think luxury, let's thinkrelaxation.
If we're not toting a toddleralong, um, If we're not toting a
toddler along.
Maldives, first and foremost,gorgeous.
These are islands.
For those of you that don'tknow geography, like me.
I mean, until I became a travelagent, I really learned so much
(03:18):
about where things are.
So the Maldives are islandsthat are to the east of Africa
and they're gorgeous.
They're known for over thewater bungalows.
If you will, that's on mybucket list.
How about that?
You want to stay in a over thewater bungalow, Cheryl?
(03:41):
Yes, the other thing is that Forany adult one sorry.
You're like, oh wait, my mindjust wandered.
Well, there, that is anopportunity for you.
It just saying, the other thingis Napa Valley.
Uh, in California, sonoma, napaValley, I actually am planning
a trip right now with my collegebesties.
(04:01):
Um, so I'm trying to decidethings like uh, they all want to
get this mud spa and we'relooking at up in Calistoga,
maybe like the Dr Wilkinson'sversus the um, I think it's
called Indian.
There's, there's a couple ofdifferent spas and I'm kind of
leaning towards the Indianretreat one because it's got.
(04:25):
It's got a more extensive spaselection for those that don't
want to wallow in the mud.
I not that I have anythingwrong with that, I just it's
almost like a claustrophobiathing for me.
I don't want to be submersed.
You're supposed to be submersedup to your neck and mud, and
for me, would you do that?
Would?
Speaker 1 (04:43):
you.
Would you have a problem withthat?
No, I would do it, Um, but I doknow that would not be
something you would love.
So finding a place that wouldoffer kind of like a blend.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
Yes, put me in the
hot springs.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Some like
effervescence.
There's one that's got likethis CBD part of it.
That's just like relax.
Yeah, as you can hear, riley'srelaxing.
Yeah, a little big like callingfrom behind.
He's already in his mud bathright now in his dreams, but
yeah, so that is very exciting.
(05:20):
So I think I'm leaning moretowards Indian Springs, just
because they have a huge hotmineral bath and that sounds
amazing.
Uh, french Riviera is anotherone that's like known for.
You know, get to do winetasting and cheese pairing.
You can't go wrong.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Right, that's right.
Am I right?
Am I right Am?
Speaker 2 (05:42):
I right, am I right?
Yeah, so that's topping out thebucket list of 2025 for adults
options to go for a relaxingspring break option.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Nice, and then the
adventure culture and you have
options for that doing Portugal, food and wine, wellness and
rejuvenation in Sedona and theNorthern lights is a big one
that a lot of people like to gotowards, yeah, and Iceland, that
that's very popular.
(06:17):
And then Machu Picchu do youknow where that is, Cheryl?
Do you know?
You know, what's so funny is wehave actually had this question
when we've done trivia multipletimes when we get together with
our travel agent buddies notmany people know where it is.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
They just like to say
Machu Picchu, it's very, it is
one of those things that we all,I honestly forget every single
time.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
Where it's at, I will
tell you it is in Peru.
Okay, that Peru?
Okay, that was not at the topof my list.
No worries, that's why we'relearning.
We got each other covered, yes?
So then, after we have allthese different things, we also
have the all-inclusive style.
So tell us about theall-inclusive.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Well, so
all-inclusive can be anywhere
from.
There's tons of all-inclusives.
I mean, I love sandals, I lovereuse, I love.
But if we're talking cruises, Ilove the idea of Virgin voyages
.
It's the only adults only uh,us based cruise line that is.
So if your kids are 21 or olderthan, or 18, actually it is 18.
(07:22):
And in a lot of those placesthat we cruise to down in the
Caribbean, um in in Mexico, thedrinking age is honestly 18.
So if you haven't, if you havea child that is 18, um, that
absolutely could be part.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
Let's not say if you
have a child.
Let's say if you have a travel,an adult 18, I mean it's
already, it's always going to beyour child that's not.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
I'm not advocating
for underage drinking at all our
listeners that think we werepushing that, but yes, we are
talking about our adult children, which we both have yes, um, my
, but my 21 year old is like no,thank you to alcohol, and I'm
like, yes, I don't like it.
So, um, but yeah.
(08:07):
So we're super excited to haveuh to be looking more into
Virgin Voyages for uh theall-inclusive, uh adults only
vacation or spring break, if youwill, whenever you want to have
them on there, you know, andwe're looking towards booking a
Virgin Voyages cruise in thenear future too.
(08:28):
So maybe in the sometime in thenear future you will be invited
to come on a cruise with theDivas If you're an adult.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Yes, I'm looking
forward to that, because not
many offer.
There's not a lot of things outthere where you can go where
there's no kids, and we bothhave kids.
So we love kids.
We love our kids, not so mucheverybody else's.
So we want a break from the kidenvironment sometimes, exactly.
So, we're excited to check outVirgin Voyage Cruises.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
So yeah, and Virgin
Voyage.
I will say, while they're notlike crazy pineapple flinging
anything crazy Like sometimespeople they do get a bad rap
sometimes and I think that isjust misinformation, because
that can happen on any cruiseline anywhere, any country.
But what I will say, they dofocus on inclusive inclusiveness
(09:16):
.
You know, it was like you aregoing to probably see a drag
show on there.
There is an opportunity to geta tattoo.
Maybe it's not as conservativeas some people are, might be,
but they're also not wild andgregarious either.
They're a very, veryeco-friendly cruise line.
(09:37):
That's what I love about themtoo.
I love the hammocks how they'resourced.
I love the braces that arerecyclable about them too.
I love the hammocks how they'resourced.
I love the braces that arerecyclable.
I love how there's no trash.
They don't have water bottles.
You have to have your own watercup.
I just love how green they are.
That's my jam.
I am all about um, virginvoyages and I definitely want to
focus on trying to get somegroup bookings out there,
(09:58):
because I think that it's anamazing cruise line and we'll
delve more into that in anotherepisode, um, but yeah, I'm
looking, I and speaking of allinclusive style of travel.
Speaker 1 (10:09):
I really like
planning and being able to show
up and everything be taken careof.
So I also like the allinclusive resorts that you can
just show up and your food andyour drinks and your
entertainment are all no cooking.
Speaker 2 (10:22):
Yeah, you're, it's
all there for you to just come
up.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
So where would you go
or what would you do, if money
and time weren't an issue foryour perfect spring break
grownup adventure?
Okay.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Well, so the, the
little bungalows and the
Maldives sound fabulous.
I'm all about a tropical Island.
I also have not.
I really have.
I really want to get over toEurope.
I really want to.
Like, uncle John says we needto go to the front, the French
Riviera.
We need to be drinking.
We need to go to uh, I forgetthe location.
(10:57):
Do you remember what he said?
It started with an, a something.
But anyway, I want to go drinkthe Prosecco and have the
loveliest.
I also.
Italy is definitely on mybucket list.
As far as just going and havingsome amazing red wine and
nibbling on cheese and bread.
(11:17):
That sounds like my jam.
I could totally be on boardwith that.
Like, what would you say?
What would you say?
Hawaii?
You've been to Hawaii.
I still have not been to Hawaii.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Yeah, I do like
Hawaii, but New Zealand, I would
say New Zealand is absolutelynumber one on my book.
It has been for years.
I read a book series GorgeousOver 10, 15 years ago that
introduced me to the culture andthe history of it and I fell in
love with it and that would beprobably my number one if I had
(11:46):
no money and no issues werethere and I could just, yeah,
the best thing, that would bewhere I'd go, a hundred percent.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
I 100% feel that,
because new New Zealand is on my
bucket list as well, um it's.
It doesn't have a lot as much.
Much doesn't get mentioned asmany times.
No, it doesn't, and I appreciatethat too and that is another
thing that is beneficial is notgoing to the over highly
(12:14):
populated places kind of likeItaly.
I know Italy is on.
There Was there.
There was a I just sawsomething on Reddit or something
like that where this oneinfluencer invited all these
people to a ski place and theroads cannot accommodate like
2000 people just showed up atthe ski resort and um, and that
(12:38):
may have actually been in NewZealand, not even Italy, because
they're not prepared for theinflux of that many people.
And there was an influencer onthere and they're like everybody
should come.
They got the snow that theyneeded I'll have to research
exactly where it was, but theywere just like please don't do
that, influencers, please don'tdon't invite 2000 people.
Speaker 1 (12:57):
Especially if you
haven't touched.
They've never been there andthey didn't even yeah that's
wild so yeah, I mean, thathappens as well and um talking
about like dream places to go,but also unique experiences like
the wine tours and the sparetreats.
Those tend to be typicallyadults only.
(13:17):
However, even we can go toplaces we've gone with our kids
or places where kids are goingas adults, by ourselves.
Don't feel locked in.
That.
That's a family only stylething.
Which I always think of Disney.
A lot of people are like youshouldn't go to Disney If you
don't have kids.
I say go to Disney, experienceit without having kids.
And there's another place thatI just found recently and sent
(13:41):
it to my grown daughter, myadult daughter, because it's the
ideal place she would love andshe does not have any kids.
It's Safari stays and it's inOklahoma.
You can book your own, yourvery own Airbnb with unique
exotic animal encounters.
So it was absolutely gorgeous.
I saw it on TikTok and I sentit right to her Cause.
(14:02):
That would be her dream umthing to see.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Yeah, that is very
cool.
Um, well, kind of likepiggybacking with that, I would
say that.
Um, we went to, so I rented anAirbnb.
This was kind of like a out innature type of moment.
We did it for a birthday partyfor Reese.
We rented an Airbnb out inGraceland Highland State Park,
(14:27):
which is like Virginia, Ibelieve it's right on the border
of North Carolina and Virginia.
But we stayed in this beautifulAirbnb and it was out in the
middle of nowhere.
And then the hike, which is astate park.
You do this, I guess it's Idon't remember how many miles it
is, but it's not like arduous, but it's definitely not you
(14:47):
can't.
It's not for the like, it's nota walking trail.
You cross over some bodies ofwater, you have to hike up some
rocks, but you're looking fortheir wild ponies that live out
there in the state park.
So that was a really cool, kindof off the grid, unusual.
That was a spring break that wedid, and definitely not cookie
(15:10):
cutter beach or Disney.
We've done all that.
So it was nice to kind of getout and do something different
and be out in nature.
So I thought that was a kind ofa unique, fun experience that
we had too on that trip.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Right.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
All right so let's
talk about.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
Let's do a quick
rapid fire.
I have a list we had talkedabout this doing your this or
that spring break grownupedition.
Um, listing out like you haveyour own list and I have mine to
ask you to see.
I'm very curious, when it camedown to this, what each of us
would choose in those moments.
Okay, do you want me to?
Speaker 2 (15:48):
read mine to you
first and you rapid fire, or you
want to take it.
Okay, that works, I'll put itdown.
I'll do my five that I picked.
Okay, so girls trip or romanticgetaway Girls trip.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
That's hard to say.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
It's okay, you can
justify why We'll go back over
it.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Safari or swimming
with dolphins Safari, okay.
Parasailing or snorkeling.
Speaker 1 (16:19):
Parasailing uh,
snorkeling.
I want a parasail, but I watchway too many movies.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
Okay, I'm going
snorkeling, yeah sex on the
beach or a lap dance in the clubI'm too old for sex on the
beach.
Speaker 1 (16:36):
I'm going, that's too
dirty.
I'm going lap dance in the club, okay, uh sushi or new york
cheesecake sushi Okay, sushi.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Or New York
cheesecake Sushi.
All right, I see, I pickedaccurately for you on every
single one of these.
This is how good I know you.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
That's so funny.
We should have done that, weshould have written down, and I
have an idea.
I picked these specificallybecause I think I would pick one
way and you pick another, orthere's some that I think we'd
pick identical.
All right, you ready.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Okay, I'm ready.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Okay, stay up for
sunrise after an all-nighter or
wake up for a sunrise yogasession.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
Oh God, these are
hard.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
I could go either way
, but if quick.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
it's supposed to be
rapid, I know but those are so
similar, like I did night or day, like there was no sunrise
either way, like you can't gowrong with a sunrise and a yoga
or partying all night in asunrise, I guess you're going to
stay up and party and do yogaafter the sun rises.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
I have no problem
with that.
The reason why I picked thatwas because we've actually had
that dilemma on a cruise, whereyou're like, let's stay up for
sun.
That's a whole other story, butwe have actually had this
dilemma because I am not a latenight person, so this is that.
That just made me giggle.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
You're typically not,
but for the record on the MSC
cruise, I was all about let'sjust stay up all night and not
go to sleep.
And Cheryl's like, get your assin the bedroom.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
We were a few hours
from sunrise and had to be up at
like it was just like it may be.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
tomorrow we're going
to bed.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Yeah, are you doing
um all inclusive with endless
cocktails or curated food andwine experience?
Speaker 2 (18:26):
Oh, definitely
all-inclusive, with endless
cocktails.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Okay, throwback 90s
party or an elegant cocktail
soiree in the speakeasy.
Speaker 2 (18:37):
Listen.
I love the 90s so I'm goingwith a throwback 90s party.
If there's listen, if there's90eties rap, and we can be
dancing and having fun.
Speaker 1 (18:47):
Oh something Okay.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Chasing waterfalls
and nature hikes or the VIP
beach club experience.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Although I love some
waterfall hikes, I would want to
go with a VIP beach experience, because those are two of your
favorite things.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
That's why I put
those together.
All right, I'll do one more.
Um, let's see, cause I had awhole list.
This list was so good.
Let's see.
Oh, this, this is interesting.
Well, okay, this one's an easypick, I think mimosas and brunch
with a view, or beachside tacosand margaritas.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
Why are yours all so
like?
It's like there's no goodanswer?
Because they're all good Like Igave you choices, I gave you
sushi, I gave you cheese.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
Supposed to be right,
like what would you choose?
Speaker 2 (19:38):
Yeah, I want
everything.
I'll take it all.
I guess I'm not as good at thisgame as I thought.
I'm better at asking thequestions than deciding, because
you had succinct, you haddefinite answers to everything,
but I feel like I made mine likekind of this or that you did,
but yours were kind of likewould you rather a sunrise with
(19:59):
mimosa or would you rather asunrise with yoga?
Speaker 1 (20:01):
and I'm like I would
fucking rather both like I
thought it was supposed to bechallenging, like you really had
to choose between things youwould really do, but you did
make it easy on me.
I will say that you're welcome.
You did, okay.
So we talked a lot aboutamazing um spring break, just
(20:22):
being adults on spring break.
We get to be grownups on springbreak.
We don't have to let that vibein just because our kids are
grown.
We get to go out there and doit and have fun.
So we encourage you guys toplan your spring break.
Where would you go?
That's our question to ourlisteners.
Where would you go for yourgrownup spring break?
(20:44):
To our listeners where wouldyou go for your grownup spring
break?
Yeah, are you going early March?
Are you going towards June?
That's a good question, right?
Speaker 2 (20:51):
And and there is no
right or wrong answer that's the
what, the lovely thing abouthaving that freedom and not and
it's an adult spring break, sowe're not really basing it
around when the kids can go.
We're we're really basing it onwhen we want to go, and do what
we want to do and that is thatfreedom and like it is a
(21:13):
blessing.
It is a blessing to have yourkids and I know when I had my
kids, my world revolved aroundmy children.
I was excited to plan theirspring break and I was excited
to get their little Disneynecklaces with the little pins
and all that stuff.
And or the cruises like I, Itook a 10 day cruise when my
(21:34):
children were two years old andsix years old.
So when I say I was chasingthem around the cruise ship the
whole time and it wasn't reallya spring break for me,
everybody's like this was sorelaxing, so lovely and I'm like
I don't know.
It wasn't for me, I had fun andI made experiences and um.
(21:55):
But it's a different ballparkand I think that any mom can
relate that it's different whenyou have smaller children and
you are planning a spring breakaround.
What would they enjoy?
What can we make this tripabout them versus your spring
break or your adults only?
Trips are going to revolvearound like what makes me happy
(22:16):
now, like I've raised mychildren and I just want to.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
it's our time to have
fun and experience spring break
and go, do all the things thatwe would have or wouldn't have
done with our kids.
If I want to go to Disneywithout kids, I'm going, but I
personally am choosing thatall-inclusive or that adults
only cruise.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
And I'm getting on
that Virgin voyage cruise.
I'm going to be there.
You can find me there.
I'll let you know the date andtime that you guys, if you want
to join, you can join.
We're going to be on a VirginVoyage cruise in the very near
future, hopefully soon.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Yeah, so let us know
in, let us know what you think,
where you would go on youradults only or grown up it
doesn't have your grown upspring break and I want to avoid
saying adults only.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
Gives it that bad.
Maybe I want to avoid sayingadults only gives it that bad
twist.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
Maybe we should just
say sans children.
Yeah, the grownup trips thatyou guys take, where are you
going If money wasn't an issue?
If time was an issue, wherewould you?
Where would your dream grownupspring break be?
Let us know.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
Yeah, absolutely.
Well, I think that's going towrap it up for today, but thank
you for being with us and wehope to see you on a spring
break in the near future.
