Episode #72 - Risky err Whiskey Business by Liz Henry

On this episode of Survive & Thrive 8791 Podcast, I welcome Liz Henry to the Buck & Honey's remote studios. Henry is a passionate, hard working business woman, and co-owner of Henry Farms Prairie Spirits and J. Henry & Sons Bourbon. Side by side with her husband Joe, Liz has helped diversify a family farm in Dane, Wisconsin into an award winning bourbon whiskey producer. In 2008, a trip to Kentucky would turn an idea into reality as Joe was looking to diversify their farming business by using a product very familiar to them—corn. In March 2009, they distilled their first batch of bourbon whiskey, and they haven’t looked back.

A "grain to glass" business motto has brought new life to Henry Farms by use of their own corn. Aging their bourbon right on their property, they’ve created a whiskey that has won awards on the national level. With her five suggestions for thriving, Liz credits their success to: Being authentic. Being passionate. Being empathetic. Being collaborative. Always be learning.
