Speaker 1 (00:24):
A girlfriends it's me Adrian or Aiden. Either way, I
am still your host and you are still listening to
SUSO the Podcast of Paranormal Folks or from Latin American cultures.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Welcome back, gool.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Friends, and if this is your first time, thank you
for joining us. You're in for a very special treat,
a very special episode today. Today's episode is brought to
you by Lost Edge Tattoo in Austin, Texas. I spent
a day with the artists of Lost Edge Tattoo while
getting two pieces myself, and you will see them in
this video. Before anything else, I want to give a big,

(00:57):
big shout out to my tattoo artist and his info
will be down below and throughout this video. Because that's right,
this is a public video for everybody. Not only will
this be uploaded as a podcast for your listening pleasure,
but if you so choose, you can go to YouTube
dot com slash at Sustal podcast to watch the video itself.

(01:18):
I normally reserve the video versions of episodes for Patreon
subscribers at patreon dot com slash Sustal Podcast, but in
our collaboration, we decided to make this a public facing video,
so that you could get to know the artists of
Lost Edge Tattoo and to see their work in action. Again,
I'm very excited, and I also want to preface this
episode by saying that the majority of this episode is

(01:39):
in Spanish. So yes, that's right, I am speaking Spanish
in this episode, So please show me some grace and
some kindness, because, as you all know, I am super
porcho and I tried my best. That's all I'm gonna say.
I think this is the first time I've ever done
any part of an episode in Spanish, and I'd say

(02:00):
at least not even at least more than half of
this episode is in Spanish, so you are going to
probably see me struggle. There was a lot of editing
that went on behind the scenes, so if you watch
it and you're like, oh, it's not as bad as
he was saying, no, ghoul friend, I did the magic,
the computer magic behind the scenes to make it not
so embarrassing for myself. But regardless, I do think that

(02:21):
you will enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed
making it, although I was in some real pain. I'm
gonna probably upload a video of my facial reactions on
TikTok at some point because one of these pieces was
on my knee and that shit hurt so bad, probably
the worst out of all the ones that I have.
But we're going to dive into that episode really shortly.
I do just want to say that we have a

(02:42):
few more episodes for this fall season. I am so
very excited if you are listening to this episode when
it comes out for everybody. Then tomorrow, the thirty first
of October, that's right, Halloween night, I will be at
the night Owl Spirit Social again. You can get your

also have a table with goodies and merch and some freebies.
So make sure that you stop by, you say hi,
and let's just have a good spooky time. This event
was a hit last year, was so much fun, and
I expect to know less this year. And then the
next day, that's right, the very next day. I am

(03:26):

me at Mechs American.

Speaker 2 (03:30):

Speaker 1 (03:32):

but you will just have to swing by the event
to see what is going on. You can learn more
about Mexsamerican by visiting Mesamerican dot com. And this event
is open and free to the community. It's happening at

(03:54):

tons of talented artists, vendors, creators out here, so please
make sure that you come check it out. And last,
but not least, on this list is the Strange and
Extraordinary Fest, happening November second, also here in Austin, Texas.
You can get your tickets to this one by visiting
Strange and Extraordinaryfest dot com. I will also be speaking

(04:14):
on a panel at this one. I will also have
a table and I have been asked to be their
ghost host. That's right, I am m seeing this event.
I'm very very excited to meet everybody, to hang out
with everybody, to just poison your ears with my shenanigans,
So make sure that you come and check that out.

(04:57):
and out of the way, we are just gonna go
ahead and jump right in to it once again. This
is an interview with the artists at Lost Edge Tattoo. Hey, girlfriends,

(05:19):
it's me Arian or Aiden. Either way, I'm getting tattooed today.
I am at Lost Edge Tattoo Studio here in Austin, Texas,
and I'm very excited to be getting two amazing tattoos.
We're starting off with this really cool bat right now,
and we're gonna have a little chat with my tattoo
artist Gabriel and hopefully a few other of the artists

thank you so much for your time. I hear that
you have a story for us.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
I have a little story.

Speaker 5 (35:10):
Yes.

Speaker 8 (35:10):
Have you ever heard of an Italian soap maker?

Speaker 1 (35:15):
D I don't think I have no She she.

Speaker 8 (35:19):
Was famous for a very weird thing. She would have
visitors come through her home.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
Uh.

Speaker 8 (35:26):
I think she lived in a farm, and she would
kill them and turn them into soap bars. So she
was the village uh soap maker and she would kill
the people whoa.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
And she would also make them into cakes and serve
them to her like either friends or yeah?

Speaker 1 (35:49):
Would was it like like the fat, like, was she
use it as like butters or for like?

Speaker 3 (35:53):
Probably? Probably?

Speaker 1 (35:55):
How old is this story?

Speaker 5 (35:56):
Like? W where did it r?

Speaker 1 (35:57):
When did it originate? M?

Speaker 3 (35:58):
I don't recall. It's not I'm very old though. M.
She she died pretty old lady. Maybe maybe I wanna
say she died in the seventies WAF. Her name was
Chuan Julie and she was from my Joymedia, so maybe
people can look it up. Yeah. Uh, I don't recall.

Speaker 1 (36:14):
And then and you said this is in Italy, right?

Speaker 3 (36:16):
Yes?

Speaker 5 (36:17):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (36:18):
And have you ever personally experienced something spooky like maybe
like you thought a ghost or just something mysterious?

Speaker 8 (36:25):
No?

Speaker 1 (36:27):
Are you do you believe in that kind of stuff?

Speaker 3 (36:30):
Mm?

Speaker 8 (36:30):
I guess maybe a feeling sometimes you feel like when
you enter a certain location gives you a little bit
of the chills.

Speaker 5 (36:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
But other than that, Wow, is it more like just
cause you've never really experienced it or you're like, I
don't want to.

Speaker 3 (36:45):
MM, I don't think I've just ever experienced it?

Speaker 5 (36:47):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (36:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (36:49):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (36:49):
How long have you been here with Lost Edge?

Speaker 3 (36:51):
I've been here a few months, maybe like since June.

Speaker 1 (36:56):
Okay, if people wanted to find you, they're seeing your
work on the screen right now. So if they wanted
to maybe book some time with you or follow you online,

wanted to go they see this town back home from

(41:24):
Port Artica and if through he always goes, so it's
a it's a drive from where he lives. And they
drove up there because they heard a story that if
you came out like midnight or around that time, that
you could see this man uh with like his bags
packed winning for someone to pick him up.

Speaker 1 (41:45):
Mm.

Speaker 3 (41:46):
And it was like a res like a neighborhood, like
a residency like GETD neighborhood. So they show up and
they talk to the security guard. They're like, we wanna
see this, and he was like, that's not real. It's
actually a actual person who has I think, like some
sort of like mental issue. So he always comes out

(42:07):
like thinking like he's woke at the airport. So they
left like defeated. They were like, we wanted to see
something scary tonight. This is terrible. So yeah, they just
decided to like start driving around and and fort the
there was like more like like a in the moment
there so it's like a lot of like winding roads
and whatever. So they're driving down there and one of
the guys was talking like in the passenger seat. He's

(42:28):
talking about like what he's seen us goest cause he's like, guys,
they're real, like I promise, like it's actually like we're
gonna see something scary. It's like around midnight. And then
everyone's like, yeah, okay, whatever you say. And he's not
even like looking at the road cause he's not driving.
It's like foggy, you can't see but you can barely
see the headlights, like it's really like dark. Yeah, and

(42:51):
he's not even looking. Uh, he's not looking at the road.
He's looking at everyone in the back and he's telling
them he's like, no, yeah, I've seen someone that kind
of look like that, like like almost like instang like
saying it without even looking wow. And when they all looked,
it was this woman in white like you can't see
your feet, you can't see anything. You just saw like

(43:13):
her shadow. And my dad described it. He was like, yeah,
I felt like something like in my soul. It wasn't
like like adrenaline or anything. It was just like.

Speaker 2 (43:25):
Pure fear.

Speaker 3 (43:26):
Pure fear and like he's never felt that before or after. Way,
they kept driving and he was like, yeah, don't fuck
around with ghosts.

Speaker 2 (43:35):
Oh my god, because they are real.

Speaker 1 (43:38):
Yeah. Basically, did you ever live in Puerto Rico yourself?

Speaker 3 (43:41):
Yeah? I lived there, uh my whole life. I only
moved here when I was fifteen.

Speaker 1 (43:46):
Oh okay, So did you ever hear about We've done
an episode about what's it called? Yeah, yeah, you've been there.

Speaker 3 (43:55):
I've seen it by having like gone into it like
the way I was sold like when I was a kid, Like,
it's not necessarily something scary.

Speaker 2 (44:04):
Yeah, my truly.

Speaker 3 (44:06):
My mom is like, well he was suspaniously probably deserved it. Whatever.

Speaker 1 (44:09):
Yes, honestly, go off, mom, She's right, She's right.

Speaker 3 (44:13):
I literally when I was telling her about it, she
about like this stuff. I'm getting married in porta Eco.
So I was like, that goes tours and stuff like that.
She's like, well, it's not actually scary. It's just like
like the stuff that they have like an and uh
get to you or something. Still like, it's not scary stuff.
It's just like the poor souls are still distracted here. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (44:35):
A lot of it has to do with history, and
I feel like something that I've said a lot on
other episodes is cause the way that like I understand
or explain hauntings is I feel like they're an impression
of energy from a certain time. And so I think
with something like war and colonialism, right, the emotions and

(44:58):
the energy is heightened, So those stamp the stamps are
easy or pressed, and so I think you know in
the place like Puerto Rico that you know, of course
like things like that are gonna exist. And so yeah, yeah,
I can see where she's coming from. It's like it's
not maybe inherently like it's just scary. It's like, well,
it's part of history, right, It's part of your history.

Speaker 3 (45:16):
Yeah, Cause the ones that I've heard are like and
then Morose and Moho specifically is the one that's like
the castle that protected attacked from the sea, and then
I guess us, I think so well is the one
that protected from land attacks.

Speaker 5 (45:29):
Mm.

Speaker 3 (45:30):
So that's why it was like so scary when that
soldier either like when missing or something happened to him
because he was in the most as isolated part. So
in the in Moroe, if I'm not mistaken, it has
more of the.

Speaker 1 (45:46):
Uh okay, like a holding cell or yeah, okay, there's
also like the prison that.

Speaker 3 (45:50):
Is also in a different spot that if you visit
you still feel like those souls in there as well. Yeah,
and now a museum. Yeah, it's called something that being
says sad like, it's you can still feel that those
kinds of presents there, and the same with there if
you go to where more her people say like if

(46:11):
you go at night, you can see a woman in
white like waiting for her lover and stuff like that,
or that you hear soldiers like their footsteps and all
all that. So it's not yea, yeah, like you said,
it's like it's just they're stuck in history.

Speaker 1 (46:24):
Have you ever personally experienced something paranormal.

Speaker 3 (46:29):
I think I have, yeah, but it doesn't necessarily be
like scare me. Like I have a friend who I
grew up with. She has to go as that follows
her everywhere. He names Emily, bless her. I my, it's
she's one Portodo. She's one of my childhood best friends,
and she came to visit me in July. It's like,
I hope you didn't bring.

Speaker 1 (46:49):
Her, okay, but I I don't have enough snacks for
her too, cause I only have.

Speaker 3 (46:54):
One couch and you're in it. Yeah, and like when
I was there or how, she'd be like, don't get scared.
I'm be like mm kay, but th.

Speaker 1 (47:04):
This warning is already scaring me.

Speaker 3 (47:06):
But she was just a kid, like Emily was just
like a natural like kid. So it wasn't like she
wasn't a relic. She was just playful.

Speaker 5 (47:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (47:14):
Yeah, but so like I always grew up with that
kind of stuff. I grew up going to a private
Catholic school, so you will always hear like this school
is haunted no matter what where you're at. Yeah, in
my opinion, there's every school is always haunted.

Speaker 1 (47:29):
Yeah, and it's always the restroom too for some reason. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (47:33):
Well, ours was next to a since it was Tatholic,
we had like the the cathedral one in the school.
We had one like that was like more for the masses,
I guess you could say, so we always heard about
that's somewhere in the area. And also the I guess
the direct word is like is then't like the opposite

(47:55):
of nuns but for men, I don't know what pa
monks like monks, but also not really but also it
kind of Yeah, and so they lived there so always
over there was haunted. I think going to go wow,
but I didn't experience anything. We just had like relicious
things up on there.

Speaker 5 (48:14):
Wow.

with my nosab I will say, I'm not too terribly bad.

then I when it's coming out, I get caught up
and I'm like, that's not what it sounded like in
my head. That's not what I said in my head,

but I tried my best. I hope that you enjoyed it.

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
