Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello, and welcome back to Sword and Scale Daily, a
daily show covering all things true crime, five days a week.
It's Monday, March tenth. I'm your host, Ryan Williams. In Wisconsin,
a young teenager is charged in the alleged murder of
his mother, which is reported to have come after he

(00:21):
watched a true crime documentary on an infamous case. In Indiana,
a man was arrested in connection to the death of
a five year old child. And in New York, a
man was arrested and charged with two counts of murder
after a couple was found brutally slain in their home.
All of this coming at you right now here on

(00:42):
Sword and Scale Daily. On Tuesday, March fourth, at around
ten pm, police in Caledonia, Wisconsin, received a call from
a teenager who stated they'd received a can discerning snapchat
and phone call from a friend. The caller explained that

(01:04):
the snapchat they had received came from their friend, at
fifteen year old Read Galinski, and that the content of
the snapchat showed a woman on the ground with blood
all around her body. The caption of the snapchat reportedly said,
quote help, I stabbed my mom. The caller stated that
they'd received a phone call from Reid, who explained that
he'd stabbed his mother after watching The Meninaz Brother's documentary

(01:27):
on Netflix while he was eating dinner. And when officers
arrived at the scene on the ten thousand block of
White men Or Court shortly after ten thirty pm, they'd
encountered Read outside of the home. He was still holding
the knife when officers arrived and was ordered to drop it,
to which he complied. As officers moved into de Teine Read,
he reportedly stated, quote, she is dead. She is dead

(01:50):
from what I did. Officers then made their way inside
and found a woman on the ground who was well
beyond any help. She was later identified as Suzanne Galinski.
When officers took a look at Suzanne's body, they noticed
that she had what appeared to be blunt force injuries
to her head, as well as stab type wounds to
her Torso homicide investigators responded to the scene and began

(02:13):
their death investigation. They later sat down and spoke with Reed,
who was willing to tell them anything and everything. It
was no holds barred to start the conversation. Reid explained
that he'd been abusing some of his brother's anxiety medication
because it quote got him high. He went on a
claim that earlier on Tuesday, he'd taken roughly nine of

(02:34):
those anxiety pills. But during the evening, however, Reid stated
that his mom was upstairs watching a show on her
laptop while he was downstairs eating dinner. That's when he
put on Netflix and decided to watch the Netflix documentary
on the Menindez brothers. Reid claimed that once it got
to the quote unquote shotgun scene, he started to get

(02:54):
some ideas on how he'd kills parents and started putting
a plan together to make it happen that very night.
First he'd go after his mother after coaxing her downstairs.
Then he'd wait until his father return home from work
and attack him with a hammer. Now, according to Reed,
he'd informed his mom that he was going to head
to bed soon but needed to find his sleeping pills.

(03:16):
He went back down the stairs, grabbed the kitchen knife
that he put in his pocket, and then he found
a dumbbell that he slid up his sleeve. Once he
had gathered the necessary items, he yelled up to his
mom that he couldn't find his medication. After that Suzanne
started descending the stairs in an effort to help redefine
his sleeping pills. However, once she made her way down,

(03:37):
Reid allegedly proceeded to strike his mother in the head
with a dumbbell until she fell to the ground. At
that point, he claimed that he began stabbing her in
the chest and during the attack, Reid stated that his
mom kept asking him why, to which he allegedly told
her quote pain. After stabbing his mother, he explained that
he sent a snapchat to a friend asking them to

(03:59):
compa the police. He then decided to wait until he
heard the sound of sirens approaching his home. Investigators then
asked why he hadn't waited until he could attack his father,
to which he explained that he couldn't exactly find a
hammer big enough that would kill his father. Investigators also
asked Reed if there was anything different about that day
that he could remember. Reid claimed that when he came

(04:22):
home from school, he was quote unquote feeling depressed and
quote unquote felt an urge to kill his parents. Initially,
Reid was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center until his
first court hearing on Friday, March seventh, and During that hearing,
it was announced that reed Glinsky was being charged with
first degree intentional homicide and is being charged in the

(04:42):
case as an adult. The court commissioner also set his
bond at one million dollars. If new details are released,
we'll be sure to bring you an update on so.
On March second, at around seven to sixteen am, officers

(05:03):
with the Michigan City Police Department in Indiana received a
nine one to one call about an unresponsive toddler and
responded to a home on the twenty two hundred block
of Normandy Drive. Upon the arrival of responding officers, as
well as medical personnel who also responded to the scene,
they went inside and located a five year old boy
and tried to get the child to respond. When that

(05:24):
wasn't working, the child was then transported to Franciscan Hospital
for emergency treatment. Unfortunately, the child's condition was too severe
for the hospital to really be of any help, and
as such, the child was then flown to University of
Chicago Children's Comer Hospital for a more intensive treatment plan. However,
just twelve hours after first responders were notified that the

(05:47):
child was unresponsive, the child succumbed and was pronounced that
at seven oh two pm. Because of the suspicious nature
of the initial call, detectives with the MCPD Investigative Division
were called to the home on Normandy. Detectives soon learned
from medical professionals at Comer Hospital that the victim died
as a result of brain hemorrhage and was noted to

(06:07):
have multiple areas of contusions to their head, neck, back,
and buttocks. Later on, autopsy would find that the child's
manner of death was a homicide. Detectives first spoke with
the child's mother, who hasn't been named. She claimed that
she wasn't sure how the child had sustained the injuries.
Detectives asked if her boyfriend, thirty two year old Bryce Bainham,

(06:29):
could have been the one harmer child, but she refuted
that claim, stating that her kid really looked up to
her boyfriend. I mean, it's possible that your child can
look up to someone and they still hurt them, but
that's besides the point. As the conversation continued, the mother
started to sing a new tune and seemingly turned on Bryce.
The woman stated that the evening prior she had come

(06:51):
into the home to find her child crying and found
that her child appeared to have been hit pretty hard.
When she confronted Bryce about it, he told her that
child had bit him hard enough to leave a mark
on his skin. She claimed that she told Bryce to
stop yelling at the child, to which he allegedly replied, quote,
f you, He's not gonna bite me. It wasn't until

(07:12):
several hours later that she found her child unresponsive, but
at first Bryce woent't let her call nine. When won
for help, she told detectives that Bryce wanted to quote
unquote coach her on their story. She also told detectives
that Bryce reportedly said, quote, the police are not our friends.
When asked if this behavior was common with Bryce, the

(07:34):
mother relented and stated that her thirty two year old
boyfriend became jealous when she quote gave her child too
much attention. If you ask me, that is no man
at all. Ultimately, Bryce Badam was charged with one kount
of murder and booked in theeedle Port County Jail. He
remains held in custody on a one million dollar bond.

(07:55):
His first court appearance is scheduled for tomorrow morning, so
if more information is revealed at that time will be
sure to bring you an update. On Tuesday, March fourth,
at around four thirty pm, officers in Buffalo, New York

(08:16):
were dispatched to a home located at five Saint Louis
Place after they started receiving reports of a man that
was outside of the home armed with a knife. When
responding officers arrived on the scene, they found the knife
wielding man standing there and ordered him to drop the knife. However,
the man chose to cut himself with the blade before
dropping into the ground. Officers were able to swiftly detain

(08:38):
the man and perform first aid until paramedics could arrive
on the scene. The man, later identified as thirty four
year old at Brian Shechiclana, was then transported to ECMC
for emergency treatment. After Brian was transported to the hospital,
officers went to speak with the owners of five Saint
Louis Place, but couldn't establish contact with the residents. They
found that the door was a jar and then made

(09:00):
their way inside. After making their way inside the home,
officers discovered the bodies of two adult males suffering from
unknown injuries. Both men would not survive and were later
pronounced dead. The victims were identified as forty year old
Michael Harmon and his partner, thirty seven year old Jordan Solato.
A later on autopsy would reveal that both men died

(09:23):
as a result of blunt force's trauma. After Brian Shaklana
was released from the hospital, he was booked into jail
on a charge of murder in the first degree and
two charges of murder for the debts of Michael Harmon
and Jordan Solto. During his first court appearance on Friday,
March seventh, Brian pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled
against him. Also during the hearing, Erie County District Attorney

(09:46):
Michael Keene outlined what they believe occurred at last Tuesday afternoon.
According to the DA, it's believed that the suspect was
involved in a series of recent break ins in the neighborhood.
They believed that Brian was able to access Michael and
Jordan's home home by entering a window that went into
the couple's basement. When he headed up the stairs, he
encountered the two men and that's where a confrontation took place.

(10:10):
The DA also believes that Brian grabbed a blunt object
from within the couple's home and began striking the victims.
The district attorney also told the court that the victims
and the suspect were in fact not known to each other,
complete stranger attack. As it stands, the judge order that
Brian Shaklana remained in custody without bond. It's not known

(10:31):
when his next court appearance is scheduled for, but we're
going to continue following this story and bring you an
update when more information has been released. Thanks so much
for tuning in for today's episode of Sword and Scale Daily.
I'm your host, Brian Williams, and we'll see you back
here tomorrow
