Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello, and welcome back to Sword and Scale Daily, a
daily show covering all things true crime, five days a week.
It's Tuesday, March eleventh. I'm your host, Ryan Williams. In Georgia,
a woman was arrested in connection to the shooting death
of a man in their shared home. In Texas, a
(00:23):
man was arrested in connection to his fiance's death in January,
which was initially ruled a suicide. In California, a man
was arrested and charged with murder in connection to the
fatal shooting of a man back in the fall of
two thousand and eight. And in New Jersey, a man
was charged with murder for his wife's death after she
was found with a belt tightly wrapped around her neck.
(00:44):
All of this coming at you right now here on
Sword and Scale Daily. On Saturday, March eighth, at round
one on fifteen am, deputies with the Hall County Sheriff's
Office in Georgia were dispatched to a home on the
(01:06):
forty two hundred block of Baybridge Drive in response to
a shooting. When responding deputies arrived at the scene, they
were directed to an upstairs bedroom, where they found a
man in bed suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
The victim, later identified as sixty eight year old at
James Barron, was then transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center
to receive emergency treatment. Unfortunately, he died shortly after arrival.
(01:31):
Prior to James's death, detectives were called to the scene
to investigate what led to the shooting. Detectives ended up
speaking with a woman who lived at the home. She
was later identified as sixty one year old Suzanne Miracle.
During a preliminary investigation, detectives learned that both Suzanne and
James were in a relationship with one another and had
been living together for quite some time. Detectives ended up
(01:54):
resting Suzanne in connection to the shooting death of James Barron.
She's since been charged with felony murder, aggravated assault under
the Family Violence Act, and possession of a firearm during
the commission of a crime. Suzanne Merrickle has since been
booked into the Hall County Jail, where she remains in
custody without bond. It's not known when her first court
appearance is scheduled for, but if new information is revealed
(02:16):
throughout this week, we'll be sure to bring you an update.
On Tuesday, January fourteenth, at around five thirty am, officers
in Baytown, Texas were dispatched to the Crosby Green Apartments
on Crosby Cedar Bayou Road after receiving reports about a
(02:39):
man that was found dead. When the ninety one to
one call first came in, the reporting party stated quote,
my spouse is dead. Help, my life is over. When
responding officers arrived on the scene, they made their way
to the apartment in question, and there they encountered thirty
one year old Tie Vaughn. He reportedly told officers that
(02:59):
he'd come home only to discover his fiancee, twenty seven
year old Luis or Berto, dead inside of their residence.
Officers made their way into the apartment and confirmed the finding.
Luis was dead from what appeared to be a self
inflicted gunshot wound to the head. More specifically, it appeared
as if he had been shot through the eye by
(03:20):
a high powered rifle. As Louise lay slumped over in
his resting spot, officers found a rifle resting in his
arms and a torn photo of Tie in Luise. Indication
seemed that this was a clearcut suicide, but still investigators
responded to the scene and began a death investigation looking
into Louise's death. Now. During a conversation with Tie, investigators
(03:43):
asked him if there were any problems the couple were
going through, or if there was anything that may have
caused Louise to want to shoot himself. Just the typical
problems that any relationship encounter, Ty said, But other than that,
Ty couldn't think of anything. One thing that Ty Is
reported to have continued bringing up was Luis's immigration status.
He's reported to have mentioned it multiple times. Unprompted, he
(04:06):
continued saying that Luis was an undocumented illegal immigrant. Unfortunately,
not too much of a help for investigators. Investigators then
inquired as to Tai's timeline. He stated that he had
been texting with Louis during the early morning hours before
the victim seemingly stopped responding. At around four twenty seven am,
(04:28):
Ti texted Luise and stated, quote, Babe, babe, why are
you not texting back? Roughly ninety minutes later, when he
arrived home, he walked into the couple's shared apartment and
found the victim dead. Based on the information they'd received.
Louis's death was ruled to be a suicide as investigators
continued looking into his death. Just a few weeks after
(04:49):
Louise's death, Ti ended up speaking with Eyewitness News thirteen.
A reporter asked Tie if he'd spoken with Louise prior
to his death, to which he replied, quote, I don't know.
The police know all the details. The reporter then asked
if he had spoken with the police at all, to
which Tie stated quote, I don't know. I've kind of
(05:10):
not been great. I haven't really been going to the
police looking for answers. When the reporters who were covering
the story expressed their condolences for Ty's loss, he reportedly replied, quote,
I mean it is what it is now. Who am
I to judge someone else's grief and loss? But to me,
that screams a lack of care. It leaves one wondering
(05:33):
did something more sinister happened to Luise. Well, I'm sure
this is going to come as a shock. But last
week police arrested Tie and charged him with murder in
connection to Luis's death. As previously mentioned, although the initial
ruling on the victim's death was a suicide, Investigators continued
working on the case, and during the investigation, investigators retrieved
(05:56):
surveillance footage from the Crosby Green apartment complex. In the
foot investigators observed Tye returning to the apartment at roughly
four am. A short while later, a single gunshot could
be heard in the video. This took place before Ty
sent the text that said quote, Babe, babe, why aren't
you texting me back? Investigators now believe that ty shot
(06:18):
Luis and framed it to look like a suicide before
texting the victim while he was still on the home.
It's alleged that ty waited an hour before calling nine
to one one for help. Furthermore information was found on
Ty's phone, including the following Google search quote, can I
kill an illegal human? As it stands, ty Von has
(06:40):
been booked into the Harris County Jail, where he remains
in custody on a five hundred thousand dollars bond. If
new details are released, we'll be sure to bring you
an update. Back on November eleventh, two thousand and eight,
at least in Selnas, California, began receiving reports about a
(07:03):
shooting that had taken place on the eleven hundred block
of East Laurel Drive. When responding officers arrive on the scene,
they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, the
victim did not survive and was pronounced dead not the scene.
He was identified as twenty one year old Fernando Santos.
Homicide investigators were called to the scene and began looking
(07:24):
into the death of Fernando. But right away, investigators learned
that they were going to hit many roadblocks in the cases.
Potential witnesses to the shooting refused to speak with them.
Despite the efforts of investigators trying to locate the shooter
in the alleged murder, the case would turn cold. Years
passed by and still there were no answers. But that
(07:46):
all changed two years ago when an investigator began looking
into the city's cold cases and started reworking the murder
case of Fernando Santos. The investigators started by going back
to the original witnesses that initially refused to see speak
with investigators after the shooting occurred. This time, all these
years later, some of the witnesses began cooperating and with
(08:08):
their cooperation, one name kept popping up, that being Eric Heurtado.
When the investigators started looking into this Eric Kurtado individual,
they found that he would have been around fifteen or
sixteen years old at the time of the fatal shooting.
On Thursday, March sixth, Eric Heurtato was located and arrested
during a traffic stop in the very city that he's
(08:29):
been living in all this time. The now thirty two
year old was booked into the Monterey County Jail on
charges of murder, participating in a criminal street gang, promoting
a criminal street gang, and conspiracy to commit a felony
for a gang. His bond has been set at two
million dollars. If and when new details are released on
(08:50):
this case, we'll be sure to bring you an update.
On Saturday, March eighth, at around nine to fifteen pm,
officers with the South Toms River Police Department in New
Jersey were dispatched to a home on Humble Drive after
(09:11):
they received a nine to one to one call reporting
that a woman was found unconscious in that home. When
responting officers arrived on the scene, they made their way
inside the house and found a woman lying on the
ground unresponsive. Officers observed that there was blood on the
woman's face, but what was most concerning was the fact
that there was a belt wrapped tightly around her neck.
(09:32):
Paramedics arrived on the scene and tried to perform life
saving measures, but were tragically unsuccessful. The victim, later identified
as thirty year old Cheyenne Juarez, was pronounced dead at
the scene. After Cheyenne was pronounced dead, investigators with the
Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, Major Crimes Unit, South Toms River
(09:53):
Police Department and Ocean County Sheriff's Office responded to the
scene to begin a death investigation, and fairly quickly they
ascertained that Shayan's husband, thirty eight year old Gustavo Juarez Prez,
was the person responsible for her death. Fortunately for law enforcement,
Gustavo was present at the scene and was taken into
(10:14):
custody without incident. It's not exactly known at the time
of this writing these circumstances of what they believe led
to Chayanne's death, but Gustavo was booked into the Ocean
County Jail on charges of murder, possession of a weapon
for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.
He remains in custody pending at the tension hearing. We're
(10:36):
continuing to follow this story closely and will bring you
an update when more information has been made available. Thanks
so much for tuning in for today's episode of Sword
and Scaled Daily. I'm your host, Brian Williams, and we'll
see you back here tomorrow
