Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello and welcome back to Sword and Scale Daily, a
daily show covering all things true crime, five days a week.
It's Thursday, March thirteenth. I'm your host, Ryan Williams. In
New Jersey, a man has been charged with murder following
an alleged stabbing incident. Last week. In Arkansas, three teenagers
(00:24):
were charged with capital murder in relation to a shooting
that occurred over the weekend. In Florida, a woman missed
her routine walk with a friend. Later that same day,
her body was found burned beyond recognition. Officers located a
suspect who has since been charged. And in Tennessee, a
man is charged with murder after he found another man
(00:45):
in bed with his wife. All of this coming at
you right now here on Sword and Scale Daily. On Tuesday,
March fourth, at a round eleven thirty pm, police officers
in Neptune City, New Jersey, responded to the two hundred
block of west Sylvania Avenue after an alleged stabbing was reported.
(01:08):
When officers in medical personnel arrived on the scene, they
located a man outside of a home suffering from sharp
force injuries. The man later identified as twenty four year
old Caleb Paul was transported to a local area hospital. Unfortunately,
Caleb died the following day as a result of his injuries.
Investigators with the Neptune City Police Department, as well as
(01:29):
investigators from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office started looking to
the alleged murder of Caleb Paul. Not long after, investigators
identified as suspect in the case, that being twenty eight
year old az A Heem Span of Ocean Township. Fortunately,
law enforcement was able to successfully locate Zahem and get
him into custody. At the time of this writing, the
(01:51):
suspect has been charged with first degree murder and weapons offenses.
He remains in custody at the Monmouth County Jail. There's
still a lot of unknown in this case at this time,
including what may have led up to the stabbing incident.
We're continuing to monitor this case closely and we'll bring
you an update when more information becomes available. On Saturday,
(02:19):
March eighth, just after midnight, the Rogers Central Dispatch in
Arkansas began receiving multiple reports of a shooting that occurred
on the thirty one hundred block of South b Street.
When responding officers and paramedics arrived on the scene, they
found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound outside
of a residence. The victim was rushed to a local
area hospital for emergency treatment, but unfortunately, the man died
(02:41):
shortly after arrival. The victim has since been identified as
forty one year old Andreas Fonseka. Now, not too much
is known about what led to the shooting, but on Monday,
March tenth, the Rogers Police Department announced that three suspects
were in custody relating to the alleged murder. Initially, police
only announced that the suspects were a fifteen year old boy,
(03:01):
a fifteen year old girl, and a sixteen year old girl.
Hours later, news broke that all three suspects were being
charged as adults and were publicly named. I will now
read the charges of each suspect. Fifteen year old Jared
Styles is charged with capital murder, engaging in violent criminal
group activity, and hindering apprehension or prosecution. Fifteen year old
(03:23):
Amy Manduano is charged with capital murder and engaging in
violent criminal group activity, and sixteen year old Aileen Roache
is charged with capital murder engaging in violent criminal group activity,
hindering apprehension or prosecution, and first degree in dangering the
welfare of a miner. Court documents state that miss Roacha
was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor because
(03:45):
are you strapped in for this? She allegedly brought her
one year old child to the scene of the shooting,
where three guns were fired over thirty two times. Not
only was allegedly killing someone stupid as hell, but why
would you bring a young child with you? What is
wrong with the youth of today? I mean, really think
(04:05):
about it. Think about this entire scenario for just a second.
What if Andreas had been armed and fired back at
the group. What if one of the alleged suspects accidentally
shot the child. It's like these kids today are so
damn brain rotted that common sense just no longer exists.
This case is still under investigation and will likely learn
more in the coming days and or weeks. When new
(04:27):
information becomes available, we'll be sure to bring you an update.
On Tuesday, March fourth, at around nine am, the Titusville
Police Department in Florida received a call from a woman
who wanted to report her friend missing. According to the
reporting party, seventy two year old that Jesse Kirk hadn't
(04:49):
shown up for her routine walk with her friend. It
was pretty unusual for Jesse to not show up. At
the very least, Jesse would have texted or called her
friend to explain her absence. The friend went to Jesse's
house to check on her, but received no response. Maybe
she was sick, or maybe an emergency had come up,
or maybe she really was missing. All scenarios could be true. However,
(05:12):
once officers met up with Jesse's friend and started taking
a look into her disappearance, they started to become alarmed.
After collecting information from her friend, officers then traveled over
to Jesse's home to see if there were any signs
of where she had gone. When they arrived, officers observed
a suspicious man with burns on his arm loitering outside
of her home. Officers then made contact with the man,
(05:35):
who was identified as thirty five year old David Barber.
David just so happened to be the ex boyfriend of
Jesse's niece. When officers asked David what he was doing
outside of the home, he reportedly stated, quote, I don't
feel I should answer that at this time, David was
detained while officers worked to figure out what he was
doing outside of the home. When officers spoke with Jesse's
(05:56):
family members, they learned that David had been driving around
in Jesse's Lincoln Navigator without permission, but when officers looked around,
they didn't see the navigator. Regardless, David was arrested and
charged with grand theft, auto loitering, and prowling, and just
a few hours later, other officers in Titusville responded to
the Haulover Canal in North Beverd County after receiving reports
(06:18):
of a vehicle that was completely burned down. When officers
arrived at the scene, they discovered a Lincoln Navigator, as reported,
completely demolished. A preliminary investigation determined that the cause of
the fire was quote incendiary and nature caused by human hands.
As law enforcement was processing the scene, they discovered what
appeared to be a body that was burned beyond all recognition.
(06:41):
Two days later, on Thursday, March sixth, the medical examiner
handling the autopsy of the body identified the victim as
Jesse Kirk. If we recall when David Barber was located
outside of the victim's home. He was found with burn
marks on his arm, and investigators who took over the
case were made well aware of this. Investigators believed that
(07:02):
David was the person responsible for Jesse's disappearance and subsequent death.
As of Monday, March tenth, David is now facing the
following charges. One count of first degree premeditated murder, one
count of arson, one count of burglary, one count of
abuse of a dead body, one count of theft, and
two counts of tampering with evidence. After the upgraded charges
(07:25):
were announced, new details were released via court documents. It
seems that on Tuesday, March fourth, at around four forty
two am, the day that Jesse went missing, David's ex girlfriend,
Jesse's niece, received a text message from her aunt's phone. Now,
the content of the message itself isn't known, but the
affidavit states that the message Jesse's niece received seemed to
(07:47):
indicate that she was in fear for her life and
was planning on going into hiding, but the niece was
actually concerned because the way this message was written didn't
sound anything like Jesse. Information that was also released in
the Affiday describes a search warrant that was executed at
David's home on Friday, March seventh. It seems that investigators
located evidence that pointed to David's alleged plans to kill Jesse.
(08:10):
According to the AffA David, the evidence quote specifically mentioned
items that were needed routes to take actions that he
would need to mask his identity and elude those trying
to find him. Will continue following this story and bring
you an update when more information, including a potential motive,
becomes available. During the early morning hours of Saturday, March eighth,
(08:41):
deputies in Sequachee County, Tennessee, responded to a local area
hospital after receiving reports that a woman had arrived in
the er with stab wounds. When deputies arrived at the hospital,
the established contact with a victim, later identified as thirty
one year old Jada Goldston. During that initial conversation with deputies,
i x explaining that she had been in bed with
her boyfriend when a man jumped on top of them
(09:03):
and began attacking. She explained that she was able to
escape her home and drive herself to the hospital after
the attack. Jada then told deputies that the attack happened
at her home on the four hundred block of Power
Line Road and Dunlap. She stated that she wasn't sure
what happened to her boyfriend now. When responding deputies arrived
at Jada's home, they found a man standing in the
(09:24):
front doorway. The man was covered in blood and appeared
to be suffering from some injuries to his hands. He
was later identified as forty one year old Jonathan Belk
and he allegedly told deputies that he was the person
responsible for this attack. You see, Jonathan is Jada's husband,
and Jonathan well, he had been away on a work
(09:44):
trip and decided to make his way home early. When
he arrived back at his house during those early morning hours,
Jonathan found his wife in bed with another man. It's
believed that Jonathan produced knife and began attacking the man
who was sleeping with his wife, But his deputies life
looked around, they couldn't find this other victim. That's when
Jonathan told the deputies they could find him in the
(10:05):
trash can. Sure enough, once deputies popped open the lid,
the body of a young man was discovered in the
fetal position. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene
and later identified as eighteen year old Billy Floyd. Sadly enough,
Billy had just turned eighteen three days before he died.
When homicide detectives arrived at the scene, they started investigating
(10:26):
the death and spoke with Jonathan. At the time of
this writing, we don't really have further details on what
the conversation was between the alleged suspect and the detectives,
but what we do know is what followed that conversation.
After speaking with Jonathan, one detective asked him if he
had any concerns beyond his upcoming legal issues, to which
Jonathan is reported to have replied, quote, I'm worried about
(10:49):
my relationship with my wife due to the fact that
I offered him. Now, I'm not condoning violence here, but
it's hard not to feel bad for both the decedent
and the suspect in this case. On one hand, you
have a young man who is likely enticed by a
much older woman who probably reassured him that his actions
were okay. On the other hand, you have a man
(11:11):
out working to provide a life for a wife who
is doing something pretty terrible while he was out making
a living for them. Unfortunately, there's no going back for
either of them. What's done is done. But I think
there's always a lesson in these situations, and I hope
that more people hear the story and start to do
better by their spouses. If you're unhappy, just leave. There's
(11:33):
no need to drag someone you love through the mud
for a night of fun. And if you're on the
wrong end of infidelity, just leave. Find someone who will
show you love through their actions of being a good partner. AnyWho.
That's just my two cents on the situation. We're going
to continue following this case and report back if new
details are made available. Thanks so much for tuning in
(11:54):
