Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, Welcome back to Sword and Scale Daily, a daily
show covering all things true crime, five days a week.
It's Monday, March twenty fourth. I'm your host, Ryan Williams.
In Texas, a young couple's parents go to discuss their relationship,
only for an argument in alled shooting to break out.
(00:23):
In New York, a man that was reported to be
missing was discovered hiding in a neighbor's shed. And in
North Carolina, a man was charged with murder after he
sent a jail grievance confessing to a woman's alleged murder
back in July twenty twenty four. All of this coming
at you right now here on Sword and Scale Daily.
(00:51):
On the afternoon of Monday, March seventeenth, deputies with the
Harris County Priestinct four office were dispatched to a home
on the twenty four thousand block of Osprey Point T
in Hackley, Texas, after receiving reports of a shooting. When
deputies arrived on the scene, they found a woman rendering
first aid to a man who appeared to have a
gunshot wound to the chest. Paramedics arrived on the scene
(01:11):
shortly thereafter and were able to transport the victim to
a local area hospital. The victim's status is not known
at the time of this writing. However, it appears that
they've survived up to this point now. As deputies were
at the scene of the alleged shooting, they spoke with
the woman who was initially rendering aid to the victim.
The woman explained that just a short while earlier, she
(01:32):
and her husband, not being the victim, had planned to
meet up with the parents of her daughter's boyfriend. The
reason that they wanted to speak with the other parents
was because they believed their daughter was just too young
to be dating, and they wanted to ask for help
in keeping the two teenagers away from each other. But
at some point during the conversation, an argument broke out
between her husband and the boyfriend's parents. That's when the
(01:53):
father of the boyfriend brandished a gun and shot the
victim in the chest. The woman told deputies that the
man then pointed the gun at her and threatened to
shoot her before they left the scene. With all of
the information that deputies had gathered, they began looking for
the alleged suspects in the case, who were later identified
as thirty nine year old at Luther Madison, the second
in thirty nine year old Angelica Madison. The following day,
(02:15):
both Luther and Angelica were located and attained. Luther has
since been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with
a deadly weapon, whereas Angelica was charged with one count
of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. It's since been
learned after the arrest that Angelica was the one who
allegedly brought the gun to the meeting between the group
of parents, and that when the argument broke out, she
(02:36):
pulled the gun out of her pocket and handed it
to Luther before the shooting occurred. The alleged suspects have
since bonded out of jail and are ding court on
May twentieth. If new details become available on the case,
we'll be sure to bring you an update. On Wednesday,
(02:56):
March nineteenth, at around seven forty am, if A County
police in New York received a call from a woman
who wanted to report a strange disturbance that was taking
place in her backyard. When responding officers arrived at the
woman's home, located on saman Neck Road in Dick's Hills,
they made their way into the backyard, where they found
a man hiding in a shed. The man, later identified
(03:17):
as forty three year old Christopher Miller, was reported to
be missing from his home a few days earlier by
his father. Officers detained Christopher, at which time they decided
to bring him back to his home on Bruno Lane,
just a street over. However, when officers arrived and tried
to establish contact with Christopher's father, there was no response
at the front door, but that all changed when officers
(03:39):
asked Christopher to open the door. At that time, they
found an elderly gentleman to cease from a traumatic gunshot injury.
Christopher was then placed into a patrol car while homicide
investigators and the corner responded to the scene. The victim
was later identified as seventy five year old to John Miller,
Christopher's father. When investigators arrived and started looking into the
(03:59):
vicar's death, they discovered that Christopher had been in the
home before the shooting occurred. He was then brought into
be questioned regarding his father's death. We don't have the
full scope of what Christopher told investigators, but it was
enough for the investigative team to put together what they
believe happened inside the home. During a press conference on Thursday,
Suffolk County Police Homicide Detective Lieutenant Kevin Bayer stated the
(04:23):
following quote. Christopher went into his room, got a shotgun,
and came downstairs. An argument ensued between him and his father, John,
and Christopher shot him multiple times. He then left the
home and walked to a neighbor's home on cman Neck Road.
He walked past the homeowner and wouldn't respond to her
questions about what he was doing, and the homeowner just
(04:44):
saw the person walk into the shed. It was also
announced that the victim, John Miller, was a retired detective
with the Suffolk County Police. John was reported to have
been spending his retirement as a volunteer firefighter. Now. The
reason Christopher had been living with his father is because
the younger Miller had recently gone through a divorce. Christopher
has since been charged with second degree murder and booked
(05:05):
into the Suffolk County Jail, where he remains held without bond.
During his arraignment hearing on Thursday, March twentieth, he pleaded
not guilty by reason of insanity. If more details are
revealed in the upcoming days, we'll be sure to bring
you an update. On July fifteenth, twenty twenty four, police
(05:29):
in Charlotte, North Carolina, responded to a home on Werburg
Street in the south part of the city after receiving
a report about a body that was located inside the home.
When responding officers arrived at the scene, they met the
reporting party outside of the house. The man identified himself
as a private investigator who was actively working on a
missing person report. The target of his investigation was thirty
(05:52):
two year old Whitney Heard, who had been reported missing
just a few days prior on July eleventh. According to
the PI, Whitney's family had hired him to investigate her
strange disappearance, and during his investigation, he traveled to Whitney's home,
where he discovered the body of an adult female inside.
When investigators in the corner arrived on the scene, they
confirmed the woman's death. She was later identified as Whitney Heard.
(06:17):
A preliminary investigation found that Whitney had sustained multiple stab
wounds that led to her death. The PI who made
the discovery also found that Whitney's SUV was missing from
the home, indicating that whoever had allegedly killed Whitney had
most likely stolen her vehicle after the fact. Just a
few days later, Whitney's SUV was found abandoned. Months would
(06:37):
pass by and investigators hadn't identified a suspect in the
alleged murder, but that all changed in January when fingerprints
from Whitney's home and suv were run through the system
and pointing toward one man, thirty three year old Brandon Braxton. Fortunately,
Brandon was already in custody on unrelated charges of trespassing
and resisting an officer. When investigation went to speak with Brandon,
(07:01):
they inquired as to whether or not he was familiar
with the victim. Brandon told investigators that he did know Whitney.
They asked if he knew where Whitney was to what
she's reported to have only nodded his head up and down.
Brandon stated that he and Whitney were close friends in
high school, but had lost touch over the years. He
did go on to say that the last time he
saw Whitney, she quote unquote looked petrified, but he really
(07:25):
didn't expand on that encounter what he believed caused her
to look that way. At that time, Brandon was placed
back into custody and no charges were filed. Investigators wanted
to speak with Whitney's family about the relationship between Brandon
and Whitney. They confirmed that the pair did have a
close relationship during their high school years, but had drifted
apart as most do after high school. Her family went
(07:47):
on to state that Brandon had been showing up Whitney's
house prior to her death, even going as far as
falling asleep in front of her house after he should
have intoxicated one evening. Was this the time that she
looked petrified? It's hard to say. And then on Monday,
March third, while Brandon was still in custody on those
trespassing and resisting in officer charges, he submitted a grievance
(08:08):
to a jailed administration sergeant that stated, quote, I killed
Whitney heard. That note was immediately passed on to investigators,
at which time charges were officially brought against Brandon. He
was charged with first degree murder and robbery with a
dangerous weapon. After the announcement of the charges against Brandon,
local news outlet channel nine WSOCTV spoke with Whitney's best
(08:31):
friend Morgan Hardis. Morgan went on to state, quote, I'm
feeling relieved that there's finally been an arrest. She was
a joy to be around. Her laugh was always something
she could put anybody at ease. He shouldn't have been
out on the streets capable of even taking her life.
He is a danger to society. The system failed her.
(08:51):
As it stands, Brandon Braxon remained in custody at the
Mecklenburg County Detention Center without bond. If new details are
released on this case, we'll be sure to bring you
an update. Thanks so much for tuning in for today's
episode of Sword and Scale Daily. Now I'm your host,
Tryan Williams. We'll see you back here tomorrow
