Welcome to another episode of Syren Thriving, featuring special guestTheo Fitzgerald.

Theo graduated with an undergrad in Philosophy and Cognitive Science from UC San Diego, then went on to earn his masters in International Relations from George Washington University in 2016, and began law school last year in 2020 at the esteemed University of California, Hastings Law where he recently earned an editor position for his law school’s publication: constitutional law quarterly.

He is also a man of the world, as he is multi-lingual in English, Spanish and Mandarin, and well travelled, to many countries in 5 continents so far, been an expat in South America and Asia, and once travelled to Amsterdam just to learn how to roll a joint.

What else makes him so cool is that he is a great Dog-dad to he and his partner Hilary’s golden retriever Maverick, he can grill a burger like no other, earning him name of "Thrilla the Grilla" in my book and he is a badass on the slopes, conquering snowboarding in his teens and 20s and has just recently taken up freestyle skiing.

He is beautiful dichotomy of being well-read, educated and knowledgeable while smoking an insurmountable amount of weed and being one of the coolest, down-to-earth folks who is always down to have a wild time at a party...and while he is a big muscular dude who is usually chill in t-shirt and jeans, he can rock a pink wig and a see-through net dress at burning man like no other.

We are bringing him on today to talk about his educational history and his reasons and experiences of starting law school in his 30s, taking on a challenging sport in his 30s, what he’s learned from all his travels and how he does and does NOT structure his life according to his priorities, and the art of not giving a fuck.

IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS:
- how nihilistic philosophy applies to the structuring and meaning of his life
- the benefits of travelling and staying long enough to watch the seasons change, so we can experience *ourselves* there
- the 2 worst time periods in peoples' lives, and how they relate to adulthood
- why it's important to have life experience before you further your education
- how knowing you're going to be "bad" at something can actually be freeing

Please subscribe to the channel and share the episode.   Enjoy the show!
