Welcome to another episode of our Thriving Thirties Series featuring Jessica Maissonet. Jessica graduated from New York University with a degree in Film and Media studies. She has taken that creative energy and training to build a boss-ass career in marketing and advertising, working in the early stages of her career with brands like MTV and NBC, then moved on to becoming a Creative Product Manager at the Ed-Tech company Scholastic, and is currently working at a small, unknown company called Gooooogle as a Marketing Manager.
As if her career didn’t keep her busy enough, she has taken breaks from her marketing life to create her own publication and work on her own scripts, and has accomplished 2 pilots titled “Concrete Jungle and Hair of the Joe. Her current creative projects are an upcoming novel she is titling “Holy” and a web series called “Dolby and Stereo”.
One of the coolest aspects to her art, in my opinion, is her passion for horror and fantasy. She captures monsters, the macabre, the morbid in a poetic and riveting way which is a delightful contrast to her otherwise sweet persona.
She has also recently taken up the hobby of being a dope mixologist, adding her own style to cocktail recipes with the coolest names that are either obscure or her own making such as Iznagi’s Burden, Spock’s Slipper or Forbidden dance - either way you need to try them so I’ll definitely be linking her instagram where she shares them.
We are bringing her on today to talk about how she balances her many artistic pursuits with her business pursuits, why many age standards are simply a trap and how age relates not only to mortality - but immortality.
IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS:
-What the genres of Horror and Fantasy can teach us about ageism and immortaltiy
-How to specifically use gratitude as a tool for productivity and attracting the kind of life you want
-How fashion is about evolving as a person rather than age
-How to access your own creativity to write your own narrative that it's never too late
Please subscribe to the channel and share the episode. Enjoy the show!
