Speaker 1 (00:00):
I need ten or fifteen skirts from Calvin Kleive. Sometimes
I would buy boil instead of dinner. I just felt sad.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
This is Taylor Talk with your host Sammy Rose. If
you're a bit of a fashion addict like me, you
would have heard the term style personality. It's an idea
that stylists use to help us determine what closed suit
us best in our wardrobes. That is my limited understanding anyway.
But back for another chat to help us is the

(00:28):
lovely Fiona Kiri from Style Liberation. Fiona, welcome back to
the podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Thank you so much for having me back.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Okay, so we're going to jump right in. Tell me
what is a style personality.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Well, star personality is a way of expressing who you
are through what you wear, and it not only includes
just clothing and shoes and accessories, but also hair and
makeup too. So the thing to know is that we're
usually a combination of two to three style personalities, four
or more. We've got multiple style ps personalities is absolutely fine.

(01:02):
Usually means that you're a bit of creatives who likes
to dress based on your mood. Now, style personality is
something that's quite unique to each person. You may have
a similar style personality someone else, but how it shows
up for you can be quite different to somebody else.
The other thing to know is style personality can change
over time, depending on your lifestyle, work lifestyle, where you live,

(01:27):
and if you've fallen out of love with your wardrobe,
it's is usually a good indication that your style personality
is changing. So that's why we often recommend that you
need to revisit it every sort of three or four years.
And once people become more confident with their style personalities
as well, and in particular their style profile, but their

(01:47):
colors and their body architecture, they can often change style
personality too.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Sophianny, you mentioned there that knowing your style personality can
help us decide what say makeup we choose, or the
clothes that we wear. What are some examples of style personalities.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
Yeah, absolutely, So we work with eight and you're usually combination.
No one is exactly one. Okay, So we've got our classics.
Think puited and booted, tailored, always timeless, right, you know,
I think the person who has that classic white shirt,
the classic best black dress, that type of thing, so
they're always timeless and appropriate. Then we've got our relax naturals.

(02:30):
Think elmcpherson. She just literally gets out of bed, she
washes her hair and looks amazing, puts on a pair
of jeans and a T shirt. You know, those people
are just so effortless, and you're like, oh, take me hours, hours.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Right for hours to look effortless. Yes, exactly.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
So I'm definitely not one of those people, but I
really is my relax naturals, and they're all about comfort.
Then you've got your dramatics. Dramatics do not go grocery
shopping without their heels and lipstick on. Okay, these people
are all about the look, not comfort, right, So I
think you know Lady Gaga for example. Then you've got
your rebellious. The rebellious are quite irreverent, so I think

(03:11):
band tees, goths, punks. You know, they've got that little
bit of edginess to them, maybe a little bit of
military style and stuff like that. They love leather, for example.
Then you've got your creatives who like anything and everything.
They're quite all clectic in their taste and they sort
of bring it all together in these really unique, interesting combinations.

(03:32):
Then we've got our gorgeous sultries. Bavavoos who love to
show off their curves, do glamorous here and makeup, and
I'll always tease anyone who's into a little bit of
animal print. They've definitely got some saltries going on, although
dramatics and rebellious also like a little bit of animal print.
And then you've got your beautiful feminins who are really
soft and warm and open and friendly and they love

(03:56):
flows and lace and sort of vintage jewelry. And then
you've got elegance. Now, elegants are really interesting because we
have a lot of clients who may start like as
a classic and a feminine, but what happens is elegant
is light classic, is that they like to use more color,
and they probably like to use more print and softer
details than what they wear. So think sort of Princess Catherine,

(04:18):
Princess Mary for example.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Yeah, no, I love that. So when deciding or not deciding,
when figuring out your style personality, so the mere mortals
like myself, you aren't educated in styling, like yourself, how
do we figure out what our style personality is? It
sounds a bit complicated.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
So look, one of the ways that you can start
with working it out is actually looking in your own wardrobe,
and we call it looking for your alien effect pieces.
So you know those pieces in your wardrobe that you
bought because you liked in theory, right, or you liked
it on somebody else, but for some reason, every time
you put it on, you feel really weird in it, okay,
and just can't make it up door If you do,

(05:02):
you are really self conscious all day. So have a
look what it is about that that is doing that
for you, because sometimes it's easier to see what we
don't like rather than what we do like. So that's
one way of doing it. There's a few other ways.
Another way that you can do it is that you
can choose your favorite piece from your wardrobe and have

(05:23):
a look at the elements of it. Look at the color.
Would you consider the color as quite classic as if
it's quite neutral, or is it really bold and fiery
so maybe it's a little bit more saltry or dramatic
for example. Is it a softer sort of pastoral tone
which might be more feminine, or is it more of
those sort of ferthy tones which tie into our relax

(05:45):
naturals and our rebellions for example, or dual tones if
you're someone who is more elegant, So it's having a
look at the piece and then looking don't have you know,
lace detail or is it more of a linen feel
to it? So lace detail might be more elegant and feminine,
well that linen feel might be more relaxed and earthy
and natural a gain. So it's looking at all the

(06:05):
different elements of that garment and what words would you
use to describe that. So when you write down those words,
it really gives you clues about your style. So that's
one place as well to get started. We do actually
do a super in depth style personalities and translated that
we do as part of our face to face an
online programs, so we really go into a lot of

(06:28):
detail in terms of it. But we also have a
free style personality quiz that gives you your dominant style personality.
So just remembering you are usually two or three, so
the quiz that we do have just gives you that
top one for you so that you can sort of
explore further from there.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Oh wow, and that's just available for free on your website.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
It is, so if you go to Style Liberation dot
com dot au and then just click on our freeb section.
You'll see our style personality quiz there.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Oh, I love a good quiz especially, it's like those
BuzzFeed quizzes anything like that. Love it all right. So,
when you've got a new client and you're looking at
them and you are trying to figure out what their
style personality is, are there certain kind of elements of
their look that you look at.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
When we are translating style, we look at particular elements.
And the elements we look at are the fit of
their items, the color, the print, the texture, the details
so embellishments or shoes and accessories that they like to wear,
and then the makeup and the hair. And what we
find really interesting is we've never had anyone that fits

(07:34):
into just one box and the style personality. So we
might have someone who, perfect example, is actually one of
our clients. She is a classic seminin. The fit for
her is classics, the color for her is classic, her
hair is a little bit feminine. She likes to do
a little bit of a ways, but the makeup is

(07:55):
classic and the only other place that the feminine shows
up for her is in the details. So she'll have
a classic outfit that there might be a slight ruffle
on the sleeve for the skirt that makes it feminine
for her. So it's those type of things that will
look at when we work with a client or A
really good indication is the type of print that you

(08:18):
are attracted to. You're more into nature based prints like
botanicals and things like that, you're often more relaxed natural.
If you're into geometrics and bowls, you might be a
little bit more of your dramatic and creative. If you're
into florals, you're often more your feminine, elegant and again,
animal print soul.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Truth love it, Yes, that neutral of animal prints. The
owner that was informative. As always, I will put a
link to that quiz so our listeners can find the
style personality quiz on your website in our show notes.
So if you are listening to this and you want
to do the quiz, guys, have a look in the
show notes and also as well, you know, just quickly,

(09:00):
where can our listeners find you. Guys on the socials.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Can find us at de Libration on our social beautiful.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Thank you so much. I'm sure we'll talk soon.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
