Hi friends,

This is a personal and honest recount of my time using a professional LED service with Skin Society in Kingston.

It's for anyone who's thought of getting LED done professionally, and wants to hear from someone who's spent the money and tried it.

Enjoy! x

Speaker 1 (00:00):
I need ten or fifteen skirts from Calvin Klyve. Sometimes
I would buy Bogue instead of dinner. I just felt
it said me more. This is Taylor Talk with your
host Sammy Rose. I've spoken before on this podcast about
how I have struggled with my skin ever since I
hit puberty. It was kind of just bem and I
had sensitive, annoying, acne prone skin and the last few

(00:22):
months I have been a rollercoaster for my poor little face.
And this episode is all about my experience with led
light therapy, so I hope it's something that you guys
are interested in. So late last year, my skin became
more dry. I've got patches of redness, flakness, swelling. Some
of the photos that I've sent to my family and
friends to gauge their reaction would shock you. They too

(00:45):
were also shocked. That was some of the reactions I
got through Facebook messenger. So something that I found worked,
and to be honest, I was quite skeptical about at
the time was led light therapy. So there was a
point around November last year I booked a skin consultation
with Helen. Helen is the lead beauty ascetician and owner
of Skin Society in Kingston. So if you're a longtime

(01:06):
listener of the podcast, you recognize Helen's name from previous
podcast episodes. She's spoken to me to explain what malasma is,
cosmetic tatooing for your eyebrows and your lips, and skin needling.
She's basically how have I referred to her. I've called
her the encyclopedia when it comes to kind of beauty

(01:27):
and skincare. She's just a wealth of knowledge. She's got
I want to say, nearly thirty years experience in the
skincare business. Helen. When I went in, I booked a
skin consultation and she got me back to basics. She
set me down, tore apart my skincare routine and was
very brutally honest about what she thought was working, what
she thought wasn't, which I appreciated. I knew I wasn't

(01:48):
wasting my time. She was very upfront and honest. Then
she suggested led light therapy, where a couple of times
a week I would go into Skin Society in Kingston,
into the beautiful salon, sit under the lamps for about
fifteen minutes and then leave. Very simple. So I paid
for all of it. None of it was gifted for
the podcast or Instagram. I just really trusted what Helen

(02:09):
thought was best, especially after talking to her a few
times previously on the podcast and just recognizing how much
she knew about the business and her experience with her clients,
but also her own and having to find solutions for
her own skin care issues. So I felt safe going
to Helen. So I started the LED light therapy first.

(02:32):
I didn't notice much of a difference. The first week
I went three times. I was like, okay, let's hit
the ground running. The second week, slowly my skin started
to appear less red than After about a month, I
started to notice a difference in my skin where there'd
been a big break between LED visits. So, in a nutshell,
I found it really helped my skin. I noticed the

(02:53):
appearance of acne scars on my face were less visible,
and the redness on my cheeks slowly faded away. Don't
get me wrong, there were flare up in between due
to other things, like weeks when I'd had events on
so who, I'd worn lots of thick makeup, or maybe
spent a little bit too long out in the sun.
Not consciously obviously, I always wear sunscreen, love sunscreen, but

(03:13):
generally I think it helped a lot. Also, this might
sound really indulgent, but I think it was the nicest
form of self care. It was fifteen minutes, either two
or three times a week where I'd sit under the
lamps in a very comfy chair in this gorgeous salon
where the people treat you so so well, and you're
in this little enclosed, curtained off area where you can't

(03:36):
look at your phone or social media, no one can
get to you, and you can just completely switch off
from the world. It's so lovely, and that's something, you know,
looking back on, how often do we any of us
do that? You know, we all say a few of
us your self care routine, whether you incorporate journaling or meditation.
I'm not very good at either of those, so this

(03:57):
was kind of like a forced meditation where you have
to shut off from the world. And it was so lovely.
And I'd try and make it in to see Helen
and her team in the morning during the week before
work or straight after exercising on a Saturday morning, and
it was just such a nice way to kick start
my day. You know, you think about what's happening in

(04:18):
your world and your little bubble, and maybe not through
issues that you've been having at work or with family
or friends or whatever it is, or even just zone
out totally. Like there was a few times when I
was a bit tired, and I'm sure I dozed off
a little bit, but basically I just wanted to say,
if you're on the fence about led light therapy, luck

(04:39):
I was. I hope this has been helpful. I fully
support it. And if you are looking for someone to
help you with your skin or your skincare routine and
your in canbra book a consultation with Helen at Skin Society.
She is amazing and she worked within my budget. She
can work within your budget. I was very upfront and
plant about how much or how little I could afford

(05:00):
to spend when it came to my skincare and treatments,
especially because I'd already spent so much on products and
gps who were no help and didn't understand me. And
I felt gas lit when I finally sat down in
front of Helen. It was so refreshing. She recognized all
of my symptoms and was like provided solutions, not more
band aids for what you know. Previously GPS had given

(05:24):
me in terms of like antibiotics or other things that
messed with my hormones and my inner functionate functions in
my body. So Helen, if you ever listened to this,
thank you. I really really appreciate it. And for anyone
else who was considering LED light therapy, I highly recommend,
especially to the acne prone earlies. But that's all for now.

(05:44):
Have a great day everyone, and I'll talk to you soon.
