Speaker 1 (00:00):
I need ten or fifteen skirts from Calvin Klein. Sometimes
I would buy bog instead of dinner. I just felt
it said any more. This is Taylor Talk with your
host Sammy Rose. The average woman will own around four
hundred and sixty nine pairs of shoes in their lifetime.
And that's from a survey that was taken in twenty ten,
and considering all the different micro trends and things that

(00:24):
come in and out of fashion so quickly, I'm sure
that that number has increased since it was taken over
a decade ago, which is quite horrifying. This episode is
all about the sustainable shoe brands that will last your lifetime.
They may cost a little bit more, but they're definitely
worth the investment and you can shop them right here

(00:45):
in Australia. So of course there's been a shift towards
more conscious shopping and I found a list of brands
that for the shoe obsessed people like me, make you
feel a bit better about your shoe purchase, especially when
it's sustainable. So the first brand is called a Loohas,
so they've kind of established themselves of one of them

(01:06):
must have shoe brands, both in the sustainable sphere and
the wider market. So the designed in Barcelona and handcrafted
with trusted artisans who believe in ethical and sustainable manufacturing,
so they operate on a pre order so it's on
demand model to combat over production. As for the shoes,
you'll find the designs are on trend yet timeless, so

(01:27):
think lovely loafers, sandal slides, shoes that you will be
able to wear no matter how old you are, no
matter what the trend is. Timeless designs, many of which
which are kind of loved. They've got kind of a
subtle seventy spin. The price tag, though, is a bit
extier because they are made to order, so do we

(01:48):
expect to see that when you look for those online.
The next one is Carriyuma. That's cariuma great for sneakers.
If you're shopping for sneakers, you need to check out
their kicks. So they are all made from sustainably sourced materials.
They choose carbon neutral shipping. They support reforestation through planting

(02:10):
two trees for every pear sold, so a super conscious
approach has been taken at every stage of their shoemaking.
Next up is one that I had heard of before
Saint Agne, so it's Saint St dot Ag and I
so this is an independent Aussie label and it's become
so synonymous with local style. It's got a minimalist aesthetic

(02:33):
and it's functional. It's just such a lovely, refined design.
I know I sound really snobby when I say that,
but I just think they make really beautiful shoes. You
may have guessed. Obviously, social and environmentally responsible is at
That's at the core of everything that they do. It's
all over their website. They're branding, they've got natural, biodegradable materials.

(02:55):
They carefully source all of them from accredited manufacturers, and
they're also what I love. They're on the Iconic and Netaporter,
so they're on both and similar to all of the
brands on this list, a little bit on the pricing side,
but they will last your lifetime and they're just beautiful
timeless shoes. Next up is a dot Emery so E

(03:18):
M E R Y. Outside of designing, these guys design
the most stunning sandals that are timeless. Seems to be
a common thread with lots of these brands. You can
wear them beyond one season, which is great. So they
work with the Leather Working Group to source their materials
and improve the environmental compliance of the leather industry, which
we love. They're available at Netaporter and the New Trend,

(03:42):
which is a shop that I wasn't familiar with until
a couple of days ago. And last, but certainly not
least is a brand called Everlane, So that's ev er
Lane l a n E. And these guys are all
about transparency, so you can find stats on everything on
their website, every single process of their designing and their manufacturer.

(04:02):
You can find the stats on how environmentally friendly they are,
how socially friendly they are, from their carbon commitment to
their annual impact report. It comes when it comes down
to their shoe collections, you can expect lovely classic silhouettes, boots,
sandals that are all made from recycled and natural materials.

(04:23):
So I hope for my environmentally conscious girlies that want
to invest in some great quality shoes that you can
buy right here in Australia. This list has been helpful.
If you love my content, please, if you're not already
following me at Sammy d Rose on Instagram, give me
a follow, come say hi. But for now, I hope
you have a lovely rest of your day, and I'll

(04:44):
talk to you soon.
