The clock is ticking toward Mother's Day, and if you're scrambling for last-minute gift ideas, you're not alone! GentheBuilder and Kory dive into thoughtful gift suggestions tailored to every type of mom, proving that meaningful presents don't have to break the bank or require months of planning.

When mom says, "You don't have to get me anything," consider that your red flag. The hosts break down gift categories by mom-type, starting with the exhausted first-time mother who needs peace more than anything else. From vouchers for household chores to in-home massages, they explore ways to give new moms a much-needed break. For young moms juggling careers and children, self-care subscription boxes and nights out top the list, while pregnant moms-to-be deserve comfort items like prenatal massage certificates and body pillows.

Empty nest mothers enter a phase of rediscovery, making spa retreats and digital photo frames filled with family memories ideal gifts. Spiritual and nurturing moms appreciate tickets to see favorite speakers or service projects organized in their name. Throughout the episode, GentheBuilder and Kory emphasize budget-friendly options like personalized coupon books, custom playlists, and seven-day text appreciation series that cost nothing but mean everything.

Whether you're shopping for a biological mother, adoptive mom, or a nurturing woman who stepped into a maternal role, this episode offers practical ideas to show appreciation. As they wisely note, "To the world you are a mother, to your family you are the world." Take inspiration from these thoughtful gift suggestions and make this Mother's Day special for the women who make life better every day. Listen now, then elevate your gift-giving game before time runs out!

Speaker 1 (00:13):
hey, it's jen the builder and cory and hello may
just like that hello, may May Ilike it.
And you know what the heck.
So I think today's episode isso appropriate, because here we
are in May and if anyone iswhere we're at, we're like, oh

(00:34):
my goodness, mother's Day isnext weekend.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
And we haven't gone shopping.
We haven't made any solid plans.
What are we going to do?

Speaker 2 (00:44):
We do what we always do Last minute planning for
everything, last minute shoppingand hope that we get everything
we need done.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
That's right.
So today we're going to talkabout some top gifts from my
heart and Corey's heart to yourson maybe some ideas for the
different types of moms outthere.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
And.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
I think creating the categories was the most fun part
in getting ready for thisepisode.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
Indeed.
But before we get started, jenna, I wanted to tell the
listeners I'm just so happy, soproud.
You know we had looked at thedownloads for a three-day
download and it was over athousand, and then looked at it
again and noticed that there waseven much higher, and that was,

(01:29):
you know, within a week.
So that was a really goodsituation to see and thank you
guys all for listening andcommenting, and a big shout out
to all of those who have beenlistening.
My cousin Tramiel, thank you somuch.
Appreciate you giving me thatfeedback on the awkward moments.

(01:52):
Good stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Well, I was going to say so.
Thank you, by the way, everyonewho's listening.
But I think the last episodewas pretty out there and we've
gotten comments like we neededsomething light.
It was really good and somepeople said they just
uncontrollably were in laughterand couldn't stop.

(02:14):
Yeah, and that makes us happy, because sometimes you just need
the belly laugh.
I know I love them andautomatically I feel lighter, I
feel like ah like that was goodready to go now let's do it.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
We can take on the world, that's right.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
So let's go into this cory.
Um, first I'm going to say thatI have been guilty as charged.
My kids have asked you.
You've asked what can I get youfor Mother's Day?
And I say you don't have to getme anything.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
That is a red flag and a half.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Yeah, we're going to throw that out the door, because
if you're a mom, or if you'resomeone who's like a mom to
someone and you're celebratedthat way, let's talk about that
Like no, it's your day, it'sspecial.
So we want to make sure we'regiven gifts and honoring and,
and if you can't get a gift, aheartfelt thank you, a memory

(03:14):
shared, you know and for thoseuh kids listening, if there are
any kids we used to have somekids listening Um, feel free to
make a card.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Just get some paper, yes, those are the best.
Write something down that youreally think mom would enjoy and
give that to her.
There's always some flowersomewhere along the way.
I used to do that as a childJust go pick some random flowers
.
They might not even like them, but you know, just pick a flower
and write a card that you makeout of paper and give it to mom

(03:47):
there you go.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
So let's talk about the first time mom.
So, first time moms, we have acouple in our lives this year,
right?
Um?
So they're probably exhausted, overwhelmed and just trying to
figure everything out.
Cory, what's a good gift for afirst-time mom, for a first-time
mom.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
I would give vouchers , like any kind of voucher to
wash dishes, maybe to washclothes, clean something that
mom is normally going to clean, maybe take her out to eat, if
you have a budget for that, ormaybe make something at home for
her, something simple, but giveher some kind of ticket or

(04:32):
voucher that she can say hey, Ineed you to step up and do
something for me and that's forthe father, obviously and if
it's a first-time mom, like inan adoption situation, or maybe
a younger or older child, maybeyou can do that.
That wouldn't be a first-timemom, though.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
I like where you're going Nice.
So I think for first-time momsremembering what that was like
you can't gift her sleep, but, man, you can give her some peace
.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
So I love your ideas there.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Sleep, but, man, you can give her some peace, so I
love your ideas there.
In addition, a spa day, or ifyou can find a masseuse that
does in-home massages, omg, thatwould be great.
To give her time to relax andrestore.
Yeah right, um, this one I havenot seen anyone do and I think
I would have appreciated thisone.
A meal delivery service?
Or you making a homemade meal, her favorite homemade meal, and

(05:33):
she just gets to sit and enjoy.
Doesn't have to get up and tendto baby because, dad, you got
that or sis, you got that.
Or sis, you got that.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Right.
Right Love that Sis brothermother.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
Anyone else but herself.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
We're just trying to build a little rope to be able
to hang on to something.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
That's right, all right.
So let's go on to the young mom.
So these are our strong motherswho juggle young kids and
possibly a career.
So she's vibrant, but she, she's stretched.
What's a good gift?

Speaker 2 (06:10):
give her a night out, like a night on the town right
night with the girls, night withthe husband, night to herself.
You know, some moms just wantto be at home and take a bubble
bath and relax a little bit.
Most young moms haven't drankor haven't had any wine or

(06:31):
champagne or anything like thatsince the baby, and maybe let
them have their little cocktailfor the first time in a long
time.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
We're not talking about unleashing the drunkard in
anybody, but you know just trygive them a few minutes to enjoy
yeah, because you don't wantthem to lose themselves.
They don't want to losethemselves, so anything that's
going to help them stay centered, I love where you're going.
I think you said bubble bathsyeah so the gift that keeps on

(07:03):
giving, yes, yes and yes.
There's also these amazingself-care subscription boxes.
Right, some of them couldinclude bubble bath type stuff,
nails, hair makeup, magazines, journals, anything like that.
You can find them everywhere, and etsy, by the way.

(07:25):
Oh, they've got curated boxesthat are so thoughtful yes,
indeed.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
And guys, if you're listening, and ladies if you're
listening, which I know theladies are, let your husband
hear this part.
This gift keeps on giving.
You know, you think, oh man, Igotta do this or that, but you
pay for that spa day and thosenails and toenails to be done.
She's gone for at least five orsix hours, man, and you got

(07:53):
your time back.
It just keeps on giving.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
That's right, and that reminds me of this too,
whatever I'm trying to say there.
Sorry for the mix up, but Ithink moms coordinate a lot of
the photo shoots with their kids.
How amazing would it be to havea mini photo shot with kids?
Oh, yeah, already planned.
Oh yeah, yeah, really cool.

(08:18):
Also, one more thing Um, theseare our moms who are carrying
diaper bags and backpacks.
They have really cute, trendyones.
I have to tell you, anyaccessory that makes a woman
feel cute, feminine, is gonnawork.
Yeah, yeah, all right.

(08:39):
So let's talk about thepregnant mama, the one who's a
mom in waiting.
So what gifts can we give herto celebrate her anticipation
and transformation?
comfortable shoes hey, I knowthat's right comfortable clothes
, comfy I love the word yes, think anything come, anything

(09:01):
comfortable.
So, like you mentioned, cory, those are awesome.
Body pillows, a comfy robe, right right, comfort is key.
So, speaking of comfort, amassage like a prenatal massage,
or I know some people are intoyoga classes or just stretching,

(09:21):
that's something sounds likesomething to think about you can
get if you're in the Hallmarkkind of mood.
Pregnancy journals are greatfor women, um, who are expecting
.
And then I've seen this.
I haven't received one, butit's like a letter from baby.

(09:43):
So it's almost like, well, it'dbe like dad writes a letter
imagining he's the baby and thisis what the baby's saying to
mom.
Oh, that's cute, Like you know Ihear your voice, your laughter.
I can't wait to meet you.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Right.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
I wonder what you look like.
You know.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
That's very heart touching.
I think that would really movethe needle in the department of
emotions.
You know, mm-hmm, department ofemotions, you know, um, I'm
gonna throw this one out therebecause I I used to do this.
But a gift card to your uh tobe mother's favorite, be a
coffee shop or juice shop orsome kind of drink thing that

(10:24):
she likes, um, that's alwaysgonna be a big winner,
especially if you do like a 25gift card where that's right,
because you know coffees now arelike eight, ten bucks yeah, and
you can get multiple uh drinksfrom that, that gift card, make
sure you think about that that'sa good one, cory.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
I love that one.
All right.
So this one is near and dear tomy heart the Empty Nest your
Mom, that's a great one.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
You know, If you've graduated to Empty Nest man, let
me tell you you probably have aPhD in motherhood.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
So congratulations to you.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
That's right.
So this woman has done thedaily grind and now I think in
this time of her life, it'sabout reconnection, or
connection and rediscovery.
Like who am I?
We, you know, talk about thisall the time with couples.
Who are we now that the kidsare grown?

(11:22):
So what do you think, Corey?
Good gift idea for me.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
So you talked about and I've talked about the spa
day and those are nice becauseyou go and get, you know, your
massage, you get your.
And I've talked about the spaday and those are nice because
you go and get your massage.
But then there's those sparetreats that you can go on.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
Like a whole getaway Weekend.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
Getaway, yes, and you can be in the.
I forgot the elements that theyput you in when you want to
immerse your Like mud baths.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
Is that what you mean ?
The mud?

Speaker 2 (11:52):
baths and the cucumbers on your eyes, and then
you go back to your room?
Yes, and you have your mint, the drink tea leaf drink and you
know, just really enjoyingunwind and you get a whole day
of that.
That's a good one.
Um, some, sometimes they havespecials to where if you buy one

(12:12):
you get the second one half off, and so then you can send wife
or mom with a sister or a friend, yes, and you just really get
some good time to relax and, like you said, rediscover or
maybe redefine yourself.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
That's a good one.
So travel I know a lot of womenlove to do this is wine tasting
, right?
Um, also because children whoare experiencing and enjoying
the adventures of life maybethere's not as frequent of calls

(12:50):
or visits.
It'd be great, kiddos, to sendyour mom a handwritten letter
and just let her know thatyou're thinking about her.
You know all that good stuff.
If, mom, you don't already havethis man, this is a great gift.
It's a personalized like frameor a digital device that shows

(13:14):
the different pictures of yourkids through time, so like we
have an alexa and it's the onewith the screen so it shows
memories and you can actuallycreate an album.
So I think that's special tocreate creating your mom an
album so she can put it on herdigital um frame, right, you
know.
So what I love here isemptiness doesn't mean an empty

(13:37):
heart.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
We got to make her feel full again yes, and guys,
don't forget to do the simplethings.
Here's something really simpleyou can do you can start start a
seven day text series.
So so, seven days you're justsending mom I love you, mom, I
care about you, mom, I'mthinking about you today, mom, I
hope you're doing all right.

(13:58):
Mom, let me know what you need.
I'm on my way over there.
You know, just start thosesimple things, so you can
already begin to make her feelvery valued.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Absolutely.
I like that.
That one's good.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
Oh, you're giving I hope our kids are listening to
this one, you know what me too.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
If not, you better text them this episode and it's
seven days in advance.
Yeah, that's right.
So this mom is a spiritual ornurturing mom.
So she's the wise one, she'sthe hug giver, she's the one who
drops advice.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Right, what's some something good for this type of
mom um, maybe a book on somethings that she loves to read
about.
Uh, some, you know what?
The influencer thing, where yousend them off to see one of
their favorite influencers.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Or like motivational speakers or someone Absolutely
oh, I love that one.
Okay, in addition to that, I'veheard of this is sir doing like
a service project in her name?
Okay, so something thatreflects her giving heart?
Okay, right, really really cool, because some moms teach us by

(15:17):
talking Others, by being thesemoms who are a gift to the world
.
Honor both.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Right.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
So just reciprocating , that Pretty special.

Speaker 2 (15:30):
And maybe, just maybe you know how some moms are the
the taxi driver, the uber drivermaybe you can transfer those,
some of those rides for a coupleof days to dad or older
siblings so that they can do thetaxi driving or the uber
driving the kids around to allthe different events.
I know I needed that breakevery once in a while because I

(15:53):
was the designated driver forthe children when when they were
young.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
So yeah, yeah.
So let's just think about somefun and just universal type of
gifts.
You mentioned the um doing thedishes and things like that.
I've seen people create couponbooks yeah so they can cash in

(16:19):
or turn in a coupon for likeyeah, I'll do your laundry.
Um, I'll make you breakfast inbed.
Have fun with that.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
So it's a day off coupon book and moms, don't
hesitate to write your owncoupon book, or your own voucher
book.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
Because, you know, some kids are just like, yeah,
I'm not going to do that.
Well, just hand it to themanyway and say you know what?
This is what you're going to dofor me for Mother's Day.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
And so what I love, too, is that's such a good,
budget friendly gift.
Another one is oh gosh, I justhad it where you create her
favorite playlist on, like AppleMusic or Spotify or YouTube,
and you just send that to her oruh yeah, or then mother's day.

(17:11):
Through the years, what waslike the number one mom kind of
song that year and just make acompilation and that's real easy
, because all you got to do isask a question hey, what's your
favorite 10 songs?

Speaker 2 (17:25):
that's right.
What was your favorite era ofmusic?
You know, those are easyquestions to ask.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
To get to the, to the good present and I think we
forget this one, because thepressure of giving a gift is we
know what our moms like and thethings that they enjoy, and so
it's always the best to stay inthose areas, and if you feel

(17:52):
like your mom could use achallenge or stretch maybe, then
that's what the gift is, yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
Right.
Oh, and guys, you know womenare sneakerheads nowadays, so
you can even buy some sneaks foryour woman or for your mom or
for, you know, the mother that'sin need of a new pair of
sneakers.
You know, what I've acquireddoing is, just when I'm out
buying me some sneakers, I say, hey, you know what I got to get

(18:21):
Jen some sneakers too.
So I don't get the matchingones, but I get her a pair that
I think she might like.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
That's right.
That's right.
So all of us may not be moms, and sometimes there are people
who no longer have their moms, and this is just a good day to
celebrate all types of womenyeah um, your relatives, your
friends, and here we just reallywant to emphasize just being

(18:48):
inclusive and just making it awoman day, cause I think most
women have stepped into theshoes of mom for someone for
sure.
So I want to end with thisquote, corey, but I'm going to
ask if you have anything thatyou want to close out with.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
No, I think we've covered a lot of bases and a lot
of ground, and people shouldhave some good ideas on what to
do and how to go about tacklingthis Mother's Day.
So have fun, guys, and enjoythe time that you have with your
moms or your wives and thechildren.
All that good stuff.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
Yeah.
So I'm going to close with thisquote that to the world you are
a mother, to your family youare the world.
So happy shopping.
You have been officiallynotified by genco or gen, the
biller and cory that you havetime to shop, or you have time

(19:47):
to get these free coupons, liketogether Playlists, whatever
that is.
You have time to do thisBecause, by the time this airs,
that weekend is Mother's Dayweekend.

Speaker 2 (20:00):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
So have fun.
And you know us to take theelevator.
We say look up, and let'selevate Every day, elevate Every
day, elevate Every day elevateEvery day.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
Elevate Every day.
