Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, little dreamers. I'm Sierra, and to day's magical tale
is called The Old Man and the Donkey. Are you ready?
Let's begin. Once upon a time, in a cozy little village,
surrounded by green fields and tall trees, there lived a
kind old man. This old man owned a friendly donkey
(00:23):
who helped him carry heavy loads to the market every week.
The donkey was not just a helper, he was also
the old man's friend, and they shared many adventures together.
One sunny morning, the old man decided to take his
donkey to the market. As they walked along the dusty road,
(00:45):
they passed by a group of villagers sitting under a
shady tree. The villagers began to whisper and point at
the old man in his donkey. Look at that foolish
old man, one of them said, why doesn't he ride
the donkey instead of walking beside it. Hearing this, the
(01:06):
old man thought perhaps they were right, so he climbed
onto the donkey's back and continued on their journey. But
as they passed another group of people, they heard more whispers.
Look at that poor donkey, one of the new villagers said.
Carrying an old man like that must be hard. The
(01:29):
old man felt sorry for his donkey and decided to
walk beside him again. But soon they came across another
group of villagers who had yet another opinion. What a
silly sight, they said, Both the old man and the
donkey are walking, why don't they both ride the donkey.
(01:51):
The old man scratched his head and thought maybe they
are right, so he climbed back onto the donkey and
lifted himself up up, but the donkey began to wobble
under the weight of both the old man and his own.
Just then they came upon a bridge over a stream.
As they were about to cross, they heard even more
(02:14):
whispers from some villagers on the bridge. How cruel, they exclaimed,
that poor donkey must be so tired carrying both of them.
The old man, feeling very confused and wanting to do
the right thing, decided to carry the donkey himself. So
(02:34):
he and the villagers tied the donkey's legs to a
long pole, and he tried to lift the donkey onto
his shoulders, But as he struggled to keep his balance,
the donkey kicked and wriggled. Suddenly, the donkey slipped off
the pole and tumbled into the stream below. The old
(02:55):
man was heartbroken as he watched his dear donkey swim
to safety, soggy but safe. He realized he had been
so busy trying to please every one else that he
forgot to trust his own judgment. From that day on,
the old man decided to listen to his own heart
(03:15):
instead of trying to please every one around him. He
and the donkey went back to their old ways, happily
walking side by side to the market, no matter what
any one else said. And so the old man learned
that it's impossible to make everyone happy, and it's often
(03:36):
best to trust yourself and do what you believe is right.
And that's the end of to day's tale, my little adventurers.
