Anyone who has ever attended a holiday play at their local community theatre has likely seen one or more of these seven plays: "A Christmas Carol", "A Christmas Story", "Miracle on 34th Street", "It's a Wonderful Life", "A Charlie Brown Christmas", "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas", or "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever". Almost every community theatre performs one of these shows every year. Everyone knows them. It's like comfort food for theatre audiences.
But what would happen if someone tried to combine all of these familiar plays into one crazy, mixed-up, holiday mash-up of a show? That's what Winking Kat has done in this new audio play for our Tales in the Air podcast. Like "A Christmas Carol", Scrooge is visited by three spirits who take him on a journey to redeem his stingy soul. But, in our adaptation, Scrooge's past, his present, and future, are nothing like the moments he visits in Dicken's original story - nor are the spirits.
Tales in the Air is a new podcast channel featuring audio dramas, comedies, limited series, and musicals for adult listeners. It is a subsidiary of Winking Kat Books that also produces the podcast for young audiences, Winking Kat Tales, offering original musical stories for young audiences every month.
