Speaker 1 (00:00):
do the sex.
Welcome to Masturbation Mondaywith me, annette Benedetti, your
host for Locker Room Talk andChats.
This is your invitation to joinme for coffee in bed and a
candid conversation about themasturbation practice I'm
developing to support my mental, physical and emotional health
and help manifest my dreams.

(00:20):
Masturbation Monday is a guideto self-pleasure, better sex and
using the power of the pussy toopen new doors to a better life
.
Today's Masturbation Mondaytopic is one of my favorites.
It is why you, regardless ofyour gender, should be

(00:43):
masturbating and quite possiblymasturbating more, according to
research and science.
Look, masturbation andself-pleasure is a topic that is
shrouded in taboo and oppressedby shame, but the reality is it
is key to your sexualwell-being, as well as your

(01:07):
mental and emotional health.
To point out how ridiculous themythology around masturbation
is, I'm just going to share acouple of the common myths about
masturbation that are, by theway, not at all backed by
science or research.

(01:27):
So here's some of the mostcommon myths I uncovered and
I've also heard myself.
Masturbation causes infertility.
There is absolutely no scienceto back that.
Masturbation leads to sexualdysfunction, and that's a very
common harmful myth that a lotof people buy into.
Masturbation is addictive.

(01:49):
Masturbation causes hair lossor acne.
In fact, there's scientificevidence that says the opposite
about masturbation and orgasm.
Masturbation will damage yourgenitals.
I promise you it will not dothat.
Masturbation causes blindnessor health problems.
Masturbation will damage yourgenitals.
I promise you it will not dothat.
Masturbation causes blindnessor health problems.
Masturbation will make you weakor tired.

(02:11):
And masturbation is only forsingle or unhappy people.
I promise you.
There are no facts to back that.
So today I'm not only going towork on debunking some of these
myths with science-backedstatistics, but I also want to

(02:31):
help listeners of mineunderstand how crucial
self-pleasure is to theirongoing sexual health and mental
and emotional well-being.
So get your vibrators out, crawl in bed with me and let's
talk about masturbation CheersNow.

(02:53):
As many of you know, in 2022, Iembarked on a 365 days of
orgasms challenge.
I wanted to see if I could havean orgasm every day of the year
.
I wanted to see if I could havean orgasm every day of the year
.
Obviously, throughself-pleasure, I did achieve my

(03:15):
goal and it was life-changingfor me on so many different
levels.
That challenge was the key thatunlocked so many different
doors to so many differentaspects of myself that I didn't
even know existed, from sexualconfidence to my ability to
enjoy sex, to my ability toregulate my mental and emotional
health.
There are so many things Ilearned over the course of that

(03:38):
year, and ever since then, Ihave been championing
masturbation for people of allgenders, and I have spent a lot
of time researching what sciencesays when it comes to the
benefits or the harm that couldbe caused by regular
masturbation and, by and large, what I've discovered is that the

(04:00):
benefits are massive and somany people don't know how
crucial regular self-pleasure isto their overall health and
well-being.
Today, I am going to break downthe benefits by gender.
I am going to talk about thebenefits for women or people

(04:21):
with vulvas, and I'm going totalk about the benefits for
women or people with vulvas, andI'm going to talk about the
benefits for men and people withpenises, and then I'm going to
talk about benefits again thatare science-backed, that people
of all genders can enjoy whenthey have a regular
self-pleasure practice, which Ihighly recommend.
You may not want to do thisevery day, but I suggest, a

(04:46):
couple of times a week, three tofour times a week, engaging in
self-pleasure, because youdeserve to experience, in my
opinion, pleasure every day, butat least three or four times a
week.
You deserve to experienceorgasmic pleasure.
So we're going to start withwomen.
What are the benefits thatregular masturbation offers

(05:09):
women?
First, regular masturbationimproves women's sexual pleasure
and function.
Research shows that over 52% ofwomen who masturbate regularly,
self-pleasure regularly,experience more sexual
satisfaction.
In addition to that, regularmasturbation promotes vaginal

(05:31):
health by providing additionalblood flow to the area, which
increases lubrication for women, which decreases pain for women
during sex and daily lifeactivities.
Plus, it helps prevent vaginalatrophy, which women can
experience as they age.

(05:52):
Vaginal atrophy can beincredibly painful for women
going through perimenopause, inmenopause and later on in life,
and by including regularmasturbation, specifically
penetrative masturbation, youcan help avoid experiencing

(06:13):
vaginal atrophy.
Second, regular masturbationcan help with pain relief around
menstrual cramps.
It can also help just decreasethe pain and discomfort you feel
during your menstrual cycle.
Research shows that 70% ofwomen who masturbate during
their cycle report a decrease inthe amount of pain they

(06:36):
experience and cramping theyexperience.
This is, of course, due to thefeel-good hormones and chemicals
that are released into yourbody when you experience
pleasure and orgasm.
Another huge and importantbenefit that a regular
self-pleasure practice offerswomen is a boost in confidence.
In fact, 30% of women whomasturbate regularly report

(07:01):
experiencing more bodyconfidence.
Now, this is thought to bebecause you connect with your
body more, you start tounderstand it more.
Self-pleasure is an act ofself-worship, so this can
translate to body positivity, confidence in the bedroom and
just general confidence ineveryday life.

(07:22):
One of my favorite benefitsthat comes from a regular
masturbation practice is areduction in anxiety and stress.
Orgasms stimulate the releaseof oxytocin and endorphins,
which can lower your cortisollevels.
Now, lowering your cortisollevels is super important for
women A it can reduce the fat wehave around our bellies, which,

(07:46):
of course, fat around ourbellies and anything close to
our heart increases our chancesof heart attacks and heart
problems.
And 74% of women who masturbatereport feeling calmer and
experiencing a lower stresslevel.
If you are not masturbating andyou are stressed out right now

(08:10):
and you're frustrated with addedfat around your belly and
weight gain that feelsuncontrollable, now might be the
time to start touching yourself.
And finally, another incrediblebenefit, especially for women
who experience higher stresslevels, is that a regular
self-pleasure practice canpromote better sleep.

(08:33):
If you are experiencinginsomnia, if you are
experiencing restlessnessthrough the night.
A masturbation practice beforebed is ideal.
So when you orgasm, your bodyreleases prolactin, which
promotes healthy and deep,restful sleep.
A whopping 60% of women reportsleeping better when they

(08:56):
masturbate at night.
So now let's talk aboutmasturbation and men and people
with penises.
I would say the mythologyaround men and masturbation is
oftentimes more intense the ideathat men who masturbate a lot
are just sex fiends and don'tcare about connection and
intimacy.
It's just not true, and thereis a lot of misinformation out

(09:21):
there about masturbation and itseffects on men's health and
ability to perform in bed.
Many men think that if theymasturbate a lot, they won't be
able to get it up in bed andthey won't be good lovers.
But that's not at all what theresearch and science says.
So let's dive in to some of thebenefits that men can
experience when they masturbateregularly.

(09:43):
First, one of the most importantbenefits that masturbation has
been shown to offer men is anincrease in prostate health and
a decrease in the chance ofexperiencing prostate cancer.
Regular ejaculation has beenshown to decrease the risk of
prostate cancer in men.
In fact, the research showsthat men who masturbate and

(10:05):
ejaculate at least 21 times amonth have a 20% lower risk of
getting prostate cancer.
Regular ejaculation helps flushout potential toxins from the
prostate.
Another incredible benefit thatregular masturbation offers men
is that men who masturbateregularly report improved sexual

(10:27):
performance.
Men who masturbate regularlydevelop better control over
their sexual response.
55% of men who masturbateregularly report improved sexual
endurance and an increase incontrol over their sexual
response during partnered sexbecause of their mindful

(10:48):
masturbation practices.
A third important benefit thatregular masturbation offers men
is increased mental health, wellness and a boost in mood.
Orgasms trigger the release ofoxytocin and serotonin, which
reduces the symptoms ofdepression in men.
80% of men who masturbateregularly report a boost in mood

(11:12):
immediately after orgasm.
I don't think most of us womenare surprised by that, but it
can also lead to an increase inoverall mood across time.
A lesser known benefit for menthat regular masturbation offers
is increased erectile health.
Regular masturbation providesincreased blood flow to the

(11:34):
penis, which can actually reducechances of erectile dysfunction
down the line.
Men who ejaculate frequentlyare 25% less likely to
experience erectile dysfunction.
Regular ejaculation keeps thepenile tissue healthy and
elastic, and that's exactly howwe want it to be.
And finally, just as with women, regular masturbation helps men

(11:58):
sleep better at night.
A whopping 60% of men reportsleeping better after an orgasm.
I don't think there's anysurprise there.
So those are some benefits, according to whether or not you
have a vulva or a penis.
Now I want to share somebenefits that are good for
people regardless of gender.

(12:19):
First of all, regularself-pleasure practice is really
good for mental and emotionalhealth.
In fact, 78% of people who havea regular self-pleasure
practice report elevated mood, lower depression, lower stress
and being, overall, happierindividuals.

(12:40):
Now, science backs this becauseof all of the feel-good
hormones that you get toexperience on a regular basis.
If you are having a regularself-pleasure practice.
Basically, every time youparticipate in masturbation or a
self-pleasure practice, it'slike taking a little happy pill

(13:03):
that gives you a mood boost andthen helps regulate your mood
over time.
Along with boosting your mood,a regular self-pleasure practice
also boosts your immune systemand helps you stay healthier.
How does it do that?
Regular orgasms increase immunefunction by increasing your
levels of immunoglobulin A,which increases their likelihood

(13:35):
of staying healthier.
Third and this is pretty obviousregular masturbation helps
reduce sexual tension andfrustration.
70% of people who have aregular masturbation practice
report feeling more sexuallysatisfied, less sexually
frustrated and more emotionallybalanced when it comes to their

(13:57):
sexual well-being and theirsexual needs being met.
That may seem obvious to you,but again go back to the myths
that state that only sad, lonelypeople masturbate.
Another big benefit that comesfrom regular masturbation is
self-exploration andunderstanding, especially when
it comes to your own experienceof pleasure and your own sexual

(14:20):
needs.
It's hard to tell someone elsewhat you enjoy, what you like
and what you need to experiencetrue sexual connection and
fulfillment in a relationship ifyou haven't taken the time to
explore on your own.
Over the course of the yearthat I had an orgasm every day,
I discovered how to haveinternal orgasms, different

(14:43):
types of internal orgasms, andin turn I've been able to share
that with my partners so that wecan experience more fulfilling,
exciting and connected sex whenwe're together.
And finally, another incrediblebenefit of creating a regular
masturbation practice is that20% of people who regularly

(15:05):
masturbate report feeling moreconfident in bed and having a
higher level of body positivity.
So there you go.
Having a regular masturbationpractice can actually make you
feel better about yourself inbed with somebody else, and it
also is an act of self-love.

(15:26):
Providing yourself withpleasure daily is a gift you are
giving yourself.
It's saying I deserve regularpleasure.
I deserve all of the benefitsthat come with experiencing a
regular orgasm.
You don't have to wait forsomebody else to give you that.
It is a gift you can giveyourself.

(15:47):
And it's a gift of self-love.
And we all know that betterrelationships come from having a
higher level of self-love.
And we all know that betterrelationships come from having a
higher level of self-love.
Once you have a goodrelationship with yourself in
bed and in life, you can have abetter relationship with the
people you love, both in bed andin life.

(16:07):
Look, masturbation isn't justabout physical pleasure.
It is a scientifically provenmethod of self-care that offers
numerous health benefits topeople of all genders, from
improved sexual health andmental health well-being to
better sleep and enhanced bodypositivity.
The advantages of a regularself-pleasure practice are clear

(16:31):
.
So, as part of your wellnessroutine, consider making time
for a little self-love, backedby science, of course.
So if you don't have a regularself-pleasure practice and you
would like help creating onewith specific goals in mind,
whether that's relationshipgoals, health goals, mental

(16:52):
health goals, whatever it is Iam here to help you.
