Big Slick here 👊 Got a story or need advice? Text me now — might make it on Talk Ya Sh!t! 🎙️💯

Some friendships feel solid—until your life starts leveling up. In this episode, Big Slick breaks down a raw listener letter about dealing with a jealous friend and the hidden signs of envy that most people miss. If your wins make someone act distant, cold, or competitive, that’s not support… that’s insecurity.

We get into the psychology of “same-level comfort,” where certain friends only liked you when you were easier to match. We talk about nonchalant reactions to your success, weird energy shifts, and the uncomfortable silence that follows your good news. You’ll learn how to spot quiet envy early, protect your peace, and stop giving access to people who drain your momentum.

You’ll also get a clear step-by-step playbook:
 • How to reduce access without starting drama
 • What to stop sharing with jealous friends
 • How to build a circle where success is normal
 • How to cut dead weight while keeping your dignity

If your peace feels taxed every time you answer the phone, that’s your sign. Choose people who clap without competing, support without comparing, and grow without resentment.

SPEAKER_00 (00:15):
What up, what up, what up, what up?
It's your boy Big Slick, andwelcome to another episode of
Talk Your Shit.
As always, we got another greatshow for you today.
But first, I want to give ashout out to the audience.
Whether you're at home, at work,in your car, all the truck
drivers on the road, Iappreciate you tuning in.

(00:38):
Yo, let's check it out, man.
We're gonna jump straight intothis letter.
I'm gonna give you my honest, unfiltered, raw, uncut opinion
because that's what I do.
Let's get it popping.
I think my friend is jealous ofme.
Every time something goodhappens for me, he's hating on

(00:58):
me.
But when something good happensfor him, he wants the world to
applaud.
Man, yo, it's it's it's crazyhow real the hate is out there.
It's crazy, man, that you know, that you'll have a friend, well,
quote unquote unquote friend, because if you got a real

(01:19):
friend, your friend ain't hatingon you.
You know what I'm saying?
Your friend shouldn't hate onyou, but this this happens
though.
So you got a friend, you startleveling up, you know, you start
doing different things, youstart making stuff happen, you
know, you you focusing ondifferent you know aspects of
your life and actually makingthem better.

(01:41):
A lot of people can't deal withthat because what happens is
that a lot of people like youmore when y'all on the same
level, right?
They like you more on the samelevel, and a lot of people are
not used to change, change makesthem uncomfortable.
Change is uncomfortable in aperson's life, whether they're

(02:02):
changing themselves or peoplearound them start changing, so
it's uncomfortable for them.
So this is what happens whenyou're not dealing with real
friends or real people in yourcircle.
When you start changing for thebetter and doing better things
and leveling up, friends starthating, right?
So you might be going, you know,yo, I got this going, I got

(02:26):
this, I got this happening.
They act nonchalant about it,you know, they don't really talk
about it.
But Tom, they do something, anything, it could be something
small.
They want everybody to clap forthem, they want a pat on the
back, they want this, they wantthat, but they don't show you no
love when you're doing the samething.
So I would say honestly, this isnot a friend at all, right?

(02:50):
This is not a friend at all.
And I would cut this person offimmediately because they dead
weight.
And what happens?
How can you level up if you'reholding dead weight, right?
Cut that weight off.
It's easier to move up when youcut off dead weight.
You know what I'm saying?
So I would cut this person off, right?

(03:11):
And then when when you do, whenyou are in this position, when
you start leveling up andbettering, bet bettering your
life, a lot of people can't dealwith that change, man.
They just they just can't.
They they they feel like they'rebeing left behind, so they start
to hate on you, right?
And that's what happens, youknow, and then you got to

(03:32):
create, you know, other well, other circles will create
themselves when you keep thatpositive energy.
You'll bring people around youthat with positive energy will
come around you, so you don'teven got to worry about that,
you know.
I'm saying, and people that'shaters are start cutting they
self off.
You truthfully, you ain't evengonna really have to cut this

(03:53):
person off because if you keepon doing good things and
leveling up, they ain't gonnawant to mess with you anyway.
So they gonna drift, they'regonna start drifting away from
you, you know, a little bit at atime, they'll start drifting
away, and you you, you know, youain't even gonna see them no
more.
That's just what happens, man, when you start changing and
doing good things.

(04:14):
But I would definitely get awayfrom this person because that
negative energy ain't gonna donothing but slow down your
process, right?
And I think a lot of times whathappens is that when you got
friends that's really not yourfriends, and you start leveling
up, you a lot of people willstill be loyal to these people

(04:35):
that's negative, and that's onlymessing up your blessings,
that's only messing up what yougot going on.
So, why would you be loyal tosomebody that don't want to see
you do better, right?
So, people gotta break this thisthis cycle of being loyal to
negative people, right?
And you gotta start cuttingpeople off that don't show no

(04:57):
purpose in your life.
If a person is giving you it'swhat are they doing for you?
What purpose do they serve?
And I'm not talking about youknow, money like that.
If a person don't gen genuinelymake you happy, then you
shouldn't be around them.
It's just simple as that.
And people gotta start lookingat stuff like that.

(05:18):
If I'm not happy when I'm inyour presence, or if I feel
irritated or frustrated oranything of that nature that's
negative, then get away from me.
Go that away.
Why are you still standing heretalking to me?
You shouldn't even be aroundpeople like this.
We got to start getting peoplelike this away away, man.

(05:39):
Get them, get them away fromyou, you know.
And yes, your friend is jealousof you, and you need to cut them
off.
They hating on you.
It's haters everywhere, man.
It's it's it is what it is.
Use your haters as yourmotivators, you know.
That's what I say.
You know, if you don't got nohaters, you're not doing

(06:01):
something right.
So keep it moving.
You know, cut them off, keep itmoving.
Yes, the person is jealous.
Yes, the person don't want tosee you do better, so you don't
need them around you.
This is another easy one for me,man.
Cut these dead weight peopleoff, keep on leveling up and

(06:21):
keep on doing your thing, man.
And forget about the haters,man.
Keep on pushing, right?
That's what it is.
This is Big Slick.

I touch everything.
You know, I'm saying that's whatit is.
And I'm gonna give you my uncut, raw, unfiltered opinion, whether

(07:09):
you like it or not, becausethat's what I do, man.
