It's that ordinary podcast with the extraordinary thoughts that
tells you to stop being great and be extraordinary.
I'm Demetrius Thigpen, also known as Meetspeaks, and welcome
back to another episode of the Talking Crazy podcast.
Now, before we get started with this podcast, don't forget to
head on over to your favorite streaming platform, whether
that's Apple podcast or Spotify podcast, and leave this podcast
a honest review because this podcast deserves to grow just as
(01:44):
much as we do. Well, I guess I'm today's
episode because I don't know if Mercury is in some fucking
retrograde. I don't know what the scenario
is or what the situation is, butI'm just not feeling it, dude,
you know what I mean? And, and before I start, OK,
before I start, there's nothing wrong with me.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with me.
(02:05):
There's I'm not going through something professionally.
I'm not going through something personally.
I, I, I just, I'm just not feeling it And, and, and can I
just be honest, man? Like, I wonder how many people
actually feel that way. You know what I mean?
Like how many of us have been inthat situation where we just,
we're just not feeling it, you know, and it's, we're not
(02:29):
feeling it going to work. We're not feeling it to show up
in front of everybody. We don't want company over.
We don't want to go out. Honestly, I want to lay in the
bed. I want to put the my, my, my
covers over my head. I want to sleep the day away.
You fear me. I I just, I need some time to
like recharge, you know, that's what it feels like.
(02:49):
And nonetheless, I still show upnow before we even get started
with that episode, because even as I come into that, I already
feel you feel me, like I alreadyfeel like the energy's low, you
know, So I want to just come in a little bit more lighthearted
and, and just bring the energy up a little bit, all right,
Because one thing is one thing for a fact, two things for
(03:10):
certain and three things for sure.
And I will say this right now, OK, it is November, all right?
It is November 17th. Why do y'all have Christmas
decorations up? OK, I know I'm a little bit off
topic right now, but why do we have Christmas decorations up,
guys? All right, we not even, we're
still in fall, you feel me? We're still this is apple cider.
(03:34):
This is apple butter. You know what I mean?
Pumpkin spice is still on the menu.
Why are the Christmas decorations up?
And some of y'all, some of y'alleven got y'all trees already up.
All right, the next major holiday is fucking Thanksgiving.
We're not even in the Christmas lane yet, and yet we're we're
(03:58):
already celebrating. You know what?
What really bothers me is that Ifeel like each year we're
celebrating Christmas earlier and earlier and earlier.
I'm talking about it used to be we will wait until December to
start celebrating Christmas now.As soon as fucking Halloween.
Matter of fact, we're putting the decorations up on Halloween,
(04:20):
you feel me? Alongside the damn scary shit
you. We got Michael Myers and Santa
Claus side by side. One's leaving, the other ones
arriving. Like what the fuck, guys?
Come on now, you feel me? Come on, put some respect on
this holiday, all right? Put some respect on this holiday
also before we even dive into today's topic, man like once
(04:43):
again, happy birthday to the United States Marine Corps 250
years of illustrious service. You know, 250 years, man.
And what what frustrates me the most about about even saying
that is because this is the 250th episode and I had some
grand thing planned. I had some grand thing planned
(05:04):
to to essentially commemorate this episode, but I don't know,
man, like this is this always happens to me too.
You know, where I have like these big moments and I always
fucking miss, you know, and I don't I don't my energy is
always fucking low right around this time, right around this
(05:25):
time. My energy is always low, but
Ball was in Vegas, you know, and, and it's so crazy when I
see people that see me in personand they recognize me from
social media and we take pictures because I, I don't, I I
wasn't expecting that. I wasn't expecting anybody to,
to recognize me. You feel me?
I wasn't expecting anybody to belike, oh, shit, like I've seen
(05:47):
you from Instagram, I've seen you from social media, you know,
so shout out to that. For those who did reach out to
me, came up to me, took pictures.
I really appreciate it. Like it really made my day.
But now that I have like really like thrown a couple of topics
and I brought the mood up a little bit, Let's go ahead and
really get get started with today's episode because today's
episode is really all about showing up even on the days that
(06:12):
you can. And just like what I did right
there sometimes, man, like all you need to do is just probably
like switch gears a little bit, you feel me?
And I think the hardest part about showing up on the days
that you can is because a lot oftimes, man, we see things as
fucking taskers. You see what I'm saying?
We see things as taskers. So we already get it in our
(06:32):
minds. Like, fuck, dude, like I got to
knock this out. I got to knock this out.
We're showing up to the gym withthis, with this.
I'm not here to work out. I'm here to I, I got to knock
out this task, you feel me like I got to, I got to work out
because this is a task for me. You know, you may love cooking,
but it's become a task. So you're not even filling it,
(06:55):
you know what I mean? So sometimes you got to you got
to mix it up a little bit, you know, you got to switch it up a
little bit, get your spirit up so that way you can show up a
little bit. But other days, hey, hey, I'ma
just be honest with you. Other days, let's just call a
spade a spade. Sometimes you just don't want to
(07:16):
do it, period. You feel me?
Last week I didn't even drop a episode.
I'm going to be completely honest with you.
Last week I did not drop a episode on Monday or Thursday.
It wasn't because I was having abad day.
It wasn't because I had a personal issue or work related
issue. I just didn't want to, you feel
me? Like I just didn't have the
energy to like I'm talking aboutmine blank, you know?
(07:39):
And I say that, man, and I'm andI'm a be honest.
I'm a just be honest. I know, I know that's not how I
wanted to say it. You feel me?
Like that's not how I wanted to deliver it.
I wanted to say it in a more social media guru way, but at
the exact same time, I just didn't fucking want to.
And I think a lot of times, man, when we don't have the energy,
(08:00):
the worst thing that we can do is lie about it, you feel me?
And, and we're not even lying toeverybody else.
We're lying to ourselves. We know for a fact we don't have
the energy to do something. And we know that we're going to
take a day off, but we feel bad,you feel me?
We feel guilty. That's the word.
We feel guilty about taking thatday off.
(08:23):
We feel guilty about not doing the thing that we said that we
were going to do. And we say to ourselves, you
know what? I'll do it tomorrow.
I'll do it next week. No, you're not.
No, you're not. You're not going to do it
tomorrow. You're going to do it when you
can. You feel me?
You're going to do it when you can.
(08:45):
And what I mean by that is, is that a lot of times everybody is
in this rush. And don't get me wrong, if you
got Taskers, you want to, you, you, you feel guilty because you
said that you have these goals, these aspirations.
You, you say that you want to knock the shit out, but if you
know you ain't got no fucking energy, you feel me?
You know damn well that you're not going to be able to do it
(09:06):
tomorrow. If you don't got energy
tomorrow, guess what? You're not doing it.
If you don't got energy to do itnext week, guess what?
You're not doing it. I love discipline just as much
as everybody else does, but I'm going to call a spade a spade.
You can't do something if you ain't got the energy to do it.
I bet you right now, if your carwas on E, you wouldn't be able
to drive that motherfucker anywhere.
(09:27):
You could probably push it, but you ain't going to be able to
turn it over and drive. If your phone right now died
out, you can't use that phone until you put it on the charger.
And that is what I mean when I say you're going to do it when
you can. And when you can is when you get
some more juice, when you get back to 10%, when you get back
(09:48):
to 20%, when you get damn, I didnot know that I was this fucking
big. God damn.
I need to start doing a couple of more episodes of The White
Beater. But you going to do it when you
can and that's the reality of it.
So when I tell you I didn't dropan episode last week, it's not
because of anything crazy. I just didn't have it in me to
(10:09):
drop. You fear me.
I didn't even have 10% to drop. And I said I will do it when I
can because that's the reality. I can't, I, I can't show up when
I don't have anything. So like I was saying, you're
going to be able to do it when you can.
You feel me? You ain't got to feel guilty
about being able to do it because let's just be frank
here. You already know that you ain't
(10:30):
got it in you today. You, you already know that you
ain't got it in you today. You know for a fact that if you
tried, you wouldn't be able to do it all right.
And ain't no shame in that. And I, I just want to be able to
just tell whoever's listening. Ain't no shame and, and not
being able to do something when you can't do it.
You feel me? You're going to do it when you
can. You're going to do it when you
finally got that 10% or that 20%or that 30%.
(10:52):
And a good example of this is honestly, I was charging my
phone up and as I was charging my phone up, I noticed that I
don't really wait until the phone's back at 100%.
I'll wait till the phone is at acertain percentage that I can
pull it off the charger and get back to doing whatever the fuck
I was doing. Am I the only one?
You feel me? Like, let's be frank here.
Like a lot of us ain't waiting until our we're not charging our
(11:14):
phones up till they get to 100%.We're charging it up so that way
it can get to a certain percentage that we could pull it
off the charger and resume whatever the fuck we were doing
prior to putting it on the charger.
The only time that you really putting your phone on the
charger to charge it up at 100% is when you go to bed at night.
And, and, and that's because younot own it.
That's because you're not using it.
(11:35):
That's because you're not going anywhere.
So it can sit there and it can sit on the charger.
But most times you honestly justtrying to get that motherfucker
out of the red. You really just trying to get
that motherfucker out of the yellow.
You trying to get it in the green.
You feel me? You trying to get it in the
green? But hey, if, if, if this is what
I were going to give me, then this, this is what our going to
(11:56):
give me. And, and that's exactly what I
want a lot of people to understand, man, is that when
you are in those slumps, you feel me like when you were in
those ruts, when you were in those moments where you feel
like you just can't do it, Get back to it when you can.
And I know I keep saying that, but get back to it when you can,
All right, And what that can looks like 10%, twenty percent,
(12:17):
30%, what that looks like in thereal world.
All right, You don't feel like going to the gym, All right?
You don't feel like lifting no weights.
You don't feel like beating yourbody down.
You don't feel like that right now.
All right, cool. All right, You got 10%.
You got 20%. Go in there.
I get on the assault bike. Go in there, hit the
(12:38):
Stairmaster. Hell, go in there and do some
stretches, You feel me? At least you had that energy to
be able to show up and do it. All right, you don't feel like
cooking today. You don't feel like cooking
today. All right, cool.
Go ahead. Order out, order out.
OK, Obviously you know that thisisn't a a permanent thing, but
(13:00):
but but this is what you got right now.
This is what you got right now. For some of us, we are leaders,
OK? We showing up.
We thinking, man, we got to knock this out the park today.
A that guy that was on the bench, a man.
I'm a need you to help me today.I'm a need you to help me.
I'm a I'm a lean on you today. I'm a lean on you a little bit
today. All right, I ain't going to be
(13:22):
as hard on y'all as I as I normally am.
I'm I'm, I'm going to start spreading the load a little bit.
You're just doing what you can for me.
What that looks like. This might be a shorter episode
than my usual bit. All right, but the fact that I'm
still utilizing my 10%, my 20%, my 30 to still put something out
there. Hey, that's, that's good, man.
(13:43):
But what is not good is when youbeat yourself up for only having
10%. When you beat yourself up for
only having 20%, you beat yourself up for only having 30.
I don't know who need to hear this.
OK, 100% going to look differenton different days.
And I'll say that again, 100% going to look different on
(14:03):
different days. OK, if all you got is 50% in the
tank, all you got is 1/2 tank, then guess what?
That's what the 100% going to look like.
If all you got in the tank is 1/4 all right then guess what?
If you still gave it everything that you had then
congratulations you gave 100%. OK your 100% going to look
(14:27):
different. But what we not going to do is,
is beat ourselves down, shame ourselves, make ourselves feel
bad. Let me rephrase that.
Make ourselves feel guilty because we ain't at 100% today
not realizing that we fucking human, not realizing that
burnout is a real thing. Motherfuckers going slumps on a
regular basis. Come on man, you feel me?
(14:50):
Come on, if you like me, then you already know.
We went through veteran's day, the Marine Corps, Marine Corps
birthday, all right? We went to bars.
Some of us probably worked the weekend.
Hey, that battery is at a all time low if you ain't been
charging it like you have. So when you showing up, hey,
it's OK, it's OK. That 100% look different, but
(15:14):
the fact that you still showing up, that's still that
consistency, that's still that discipline that we always talk
about, All right? You ain't got to be motivated.
The fact that you still here is all that matters.
All right, I bring all that up, man.
Because as we get closer to the new year, a lot of y'all are
going to have New Year's resolutions.
(15:35):
You going to hit that burnout, you're going to hit that slump,
you're going to hit that moment of fuck, man.
I feel like I don't I don't really feel like doing this.
It's OK, all right? It's OK.
This is normal. All right, 20% can look like
100% if you still show the fuck up, I promise you that.
But what you not going to do is quit all together, OK?
(15:57):
Because that's how a lot of people end up in that situation.
You only had 10%. Now you waiting.
You feel me? Going back to the phone.
I'm going back to the phone. You waiting.
You, you, you got the phone on the charger.
Waiting until it get up, get to 100%, but you can't leave now
because you're waiting for the phone.
You feel me? Come on.
I hope somebody's staying with me on this.
(16:17):
But you waiting, that's how a lot of y'all end up quitting
you. You have one bad day.
You had a 50% day. OK, that's all you got.
And you saying, you know what, I'm not going to show up until I
have 100% again, not realizing that 100% going to look
different. But you waiting until you have
that actual 100%, man, by the time you do, you ain't going to
(16:40):
do it no more. You ain't going to do it no
more. So I will say this, OK, for
those who are driving into work today, it's Monday.
And I know does Monday probably feel like it's the longest
Monday or five probably just like, damn, the weekend was just
here. You burnt out, you don't feel
it. It's OK, all right?
Even if you got 10%, that's still more than enough.
(17:04):
If you got 20%, that's still more than enough.
Do not sit there and start beating yourself up, man.
All right, go ahead, take care of business, knockout the day.
I promise you, you going to get your 100% eventually.
But the fact that you still here, that's all that matters.
And just like that, another extraordinary thought left this
(17:25):
ordinary mind. I hope you enjoyed this episode
half as much as I enjoyed makingit.
