Turn to chapter 16 and continue the story of Expedition Untold.
Roll the intro. Previously on Expedition Untold,

after defeating the Ooze we stepped through another portal
and honestly it feels good to leave the cyberpunk world
behind. Although now we're in literal
hell on a mission to find the Ooze and destroy it once and for
all. But we're together now so it's
much better. We met up with Wick and the
Gales and her Diandra, so so beautiful and smart and talented
(03:54):
and brave and loyal. She was right there in front of
me and she even helped me bleed.Together with Diandra's awe
inspiring horde of zombies, we faced a demon Prince who made us
choose a person to die. Diandra, with Gail's help, made
the horrible choice for us. We were able to gather some
diamonds around the Arch Devil'scastle and plan to bring the

person back as soon as possible.But when we stepped out of the
castle and made our way to the river, we were attacked by a
swarm of demons and the raised dead spell failed.
At the end of the fight, our book friends faded away back
into their books. Before they left, we promised
them we'd defeat the ooze and get their story back to normal.

Diandra said I was sweet. I reminded her of her friend
Barb. It's funny, when I read Wild
Love, Barb reminded me of my sister River for some reason.
Have you read that book? It's really good.
Maybe I'll read it again. But first, it's time to hunt and

stand on the shores of the RiverStyx, on the docks outside of ex
Chiselotte's castle, alone in this hellscape of hell.
Namby as you had that tried to revivify this soul that that

this person that resist had killed under your direction.
As you tried to attempt to do that.
Through that process you did lose some of the value of that
diamond and realized that this body had his soul ripped from
him and is unable to be revivified.

But you 3 stand on the docks andthe book in your hand that
Thwick had given you, filled with pages that will activate if
an ally can come and help you, starts to vibrate a little bit
and one of the pages starts to glow.
Words start to describe themselves on the page quicker
than you can read as you open itup.

This is much, much more expedient than I expected.

you go to throw it and you feel like you have to throw it into

Oh. And so you take the page and
toss it into the river, and it floats on the surface of the
River Styx. And then the pages start to
duplicate and whirl around, creating a portal that grows
bigger and bigger and bigger until a massive portal opens up

on the River Styx, 50 feet, 60 feet, 70 feet tall.
And then slowly out from the portal, the bow of a ship creeps
through with the words of city and dawn plated on the side.
As it comes into full view, you appreciate a massive ship with
an imposing yet elegant appearance, boasting of a mix of
(07:12):
polished brass, ornate woodwork,and riveted iron plates along
its side, as well as wings that are folded up on its side.
On the deck is a crew working onthe ship, pausing with wide
expressions as they're taking inthe horrific sights and sounds
of a Vernus. Near the front of the ship, you
see a half elf Bard in a blue uniform.

Well hello everyone, you made it.
I I know this isn't the best place to meet but we're all here
so this is great. Well, good to see you again.
Not the first time that you're meeting Namby.
Although you don't look how she described you, it seemed like

you were almost a different person when she describes.
Meeting you. I don't even know what that
could mean. I've always been me.
The ship comes through fully through this portal and the
portal behind it just, you can see there's like blue waters
and, and, you know, and, and vast sky and wind and clouds and

seagulls flying by. And that portal just closes
behind the ship that is now fully into hell and floating
just ever so carefully up to thedocks on the side of the River
Styx. What a magnificent vessel if it
can managed to sail the rivers of hell.
Truly, the ooze will not expect this permission to come aboard.

I mean, you'd probably would want to ask the captain.
Captain. Walking out from the back part
of the ship, walking forward is a tee fling woman.

and yet know nothing of what's going on beyond what stings.
BIC and William have shared thisis all absolutely crazy and you

like take out this big old gangplank that flops down on the

up onto the ship and continue the conversation.
But yes, Silvara, please describe what you look like.
So Silvara is a Raven haired teefling, except that you see that
the most defining feature are these sharp canine teeth that

she has when she smiles. Her eyes are just golden orbs
without peoples, and where you would expect to see the
traditional tiefling horns, she just has these thick scars on
her forehead, right peeking frombeneath her hairline.
She is adorned with a black sleeveless shirt that has all

these cords on it and attached the cords are multiple shift
instruments for navigation or repair.
You see that across her chest she has a jeweled dagger that is
sheathed across over her heart and on one side of her hip she
has a low slung revolver, on theother side a long looking
rapier. She smiles with those canine

teeth and you see that on the left side of her neck, she's got
a black sun tattoo peeking over a black horizon.
It's Silvara, right? Yes, Silvara.
Hello Silvara. Thank you so much for allowing
us aboard your ship. My name is Emtero Berstero.
I am a Bard of some renowned andthese are my incredible

Her crew scatters about. You see that there are a mixture
of individuals, dwarves, elves, half artworks, and even some
gnomes running about, all wearing similar tunics of black

shirts. They have their khaki colored
pants and they all have looks like several feet of rope
attached to carabiners strapped around their waists.
Well, thank you for having us. I think having a boat is
probably going to be pretty helpful.
My dear, this is no mere boat. This is a ship of monstrous

other than it is most fortuitousfor us to have a vessel like
this because I do think that we are all in need of a rest rather
than having to traverse this nightmare realm by foot.

I'm not, I guess I I'm not sure how far it is we need to travel,
if there might be time where we could rest aboard while the ship
continues its path. Yeah.
Wonderful accommodations for ourVIP, unless you would rather

sleep with the crew. We do have those accommodations
as well, but plenty of place to rest and recover.
We do have a fully stocked larder and a wonderful chef.
And she motions off to this halforc who is not wearing a shirt,
wonderfully muscled, who just grunts in response to her

calling him the chef. I know another.
I know another green skinned. Jacks.
You know, creature who would love to help cook.
I I could, I could help. Unless Naomi, do you want, do
you do you want company while you rest?

I don't want to. I mean, I don't want to put
anyone out. I'm fine with whatever I would
maybe I I don't think I could fall asleep around people I
don't know. Nothing against the crew or
anything, but if I'm going to arrest, I think maybe somewhere
a little more private. But I will offer you either the

quarters that we have below decks.
But if you'd prefer and she motions to the after the ship
and you see the at the ship, it's it's got a small upper
deck. But on that upper deck is one of
the massive guns on this ship. But just below the upper deck
are two double doors and she's motioned towards those double
doors. You'd be welcome to use my

It would be my honor. Oh, well, I guess before we go
in, how, how far are we going tobe going, 'cause I mean, how
far, how long do we have? I don't know what where we're
going or how long it's going to take.
Hopefully you have a heading. We have a map right that Twit

gave Twit. Gave us a yes.
So you take out the map. So you take out the map that
Twit had had had shoved to you as and the map.
It is a very well illustrated map of a of a Vernus that has
lots of different like points oflocation on it and then on like
(15:49):
scribbled on top of it are like thick lines of graphite markings
that Thwick has written on it. That shows the path on the river
Styx to go toward that looks like fairly long distance, but
you look and there's no scale onthis map goes towards a mountain
range near the edge of a Vernus,or at least this edge of this
(16:13):
map and shows the secret path toStygia that kind of is in that
mountain point. And so you can see that most of
the journey through a Vernus is on the water on the river Styx.
You flip over the map and you can see that there are lots of
words on there. Thwick has has added some
details and some information on the back and some of the one of
(16:36):
the first things he writes is found this basically this map
drawn by Silvara Silvira Silvicus.
Wonderful map that is somewhat accurate, but there's no scale,
unfortunately, and so unclear onhow many days it will take to
(16:57):
get to the mountain range. And then on the back you also
see a sketch that's much more inin Thwick's handwriting of the
plain of Stygia. You see like Ice Mountains that
he's labeled, and you see that the exit of the secret exit into
Stygia leads toward a location called the Tower of, erm, URM in
(17:21):
Stygia. And that route looks a lot
shorter on that part of the map.But there are other
illustrations and things. There's other details that
Thwick has put on the back of the map, but that's what you can
see kind of right off the bat. Savara having kind of leaned
over looking at Intero, looking at the map, and then she's going

to look around the horizon, any kind of reference point to see
if even the range is in view or to kind of get any kind of sense
of how long we're looking here. Do a survival check.
Going to only be a 10. On a 10 you can see that the

avernous air is pretty smoky today.
The visibility is not high as the in this area you can make
out where you're at X, there's alot's castle, there's a big X
there and the river kind of has a curve on the map that you
that's a fairly big like horseshoe type turn.
And so you mark that as OK, onceI get to this location, probably

can understand how far the rest of the distance is hopefully,
but there's no scale to the map.So it's really difficult.
So you have some information there just by looking at the
map, but can't really see in thedistance and understand it
further. Given that we have no sense of
scale, only a direction, and shelooks about being the first time

of the time on the top deck withour crew will be manning the
guns and their railings, trying to make sure that we do not have
any unanticipated interruptions.But for the rest of you, feel

used a lot of my magic up on Diandra's Zombie Horde so I

idly rubs that tattoo on the left side of her neck with her

up and they'll unfurl the massive sails to try to catch

controls for the ship standing there at the massive wheel and
she calls down through a little pipe that looks like a
communication device of some kind.

Silas fire up the engines and you hear this as the ship slowly
starts to creep forward. Now DM, one of the crew members
is a storm caller supposed to have the ability to help
manipulate the weather? I don't know if it would.

through the arcane with the arcane engines ever so slowly
through Avernus, and you all areable to grab a short rest for

There's some fries, some potatoes he's whipping together,
adding some cheese. There's a a a salad option as

But this is a pretty stocked kitchen that's kind of ready to
go for what they were expecting,which was, you know, hell and
whatever this adventure was going to lead to.
OK, so potatoes and fruit and. That's what he's cooking.

But you look through and there are all sorts of ingredients.
There's flour, there's there is an oven in there.

I think potatoes and fruit givesyou a lot of a lot of room to

Well, OK, so these are going to be like little pick me up snacks
and I imagine it's a little well, although Emtero and Namby

love heat, but it can be a little sweltering and I know
Namby's been extra sad. So, oh, I know what I'm going to

So I am going to make a carrot cake with like white fluffy
frosting that I'm going to swirllittle bits of pink through.

broke the camel's back. I'm just like everything is bad
here. I just slapped the cupcake out

Sorry, I just started gathering the cupcakes out and I dumped
them over the side of the ship. I've.

And then I go just like I walk off in the other direction.
You go and return the, the, the plate that to the kitchen and
you see, you see Korak like dumping out all of his like

fries and like his burger into the trash.
And he's like frustrated trying to make a burger and he like
makes 1 and takes a bite and just like spits it out and he
just throws it on the ground andhe and he just shakes his head.
And you see like there's he takes like a piece of fruit,
takes a bite and just looks likedisgusting inside.
And he said. What the hell?

he kind of tries to come up withsomething else.
I never thought I would miss thetaste of icore.

early in the rest, she abandons it and and tries to help you
figure out what's going on with the food because she feels

You all rest not sure if you're going to get a you know how long

awful, you do think about think back to your training and you
know that you have the ability to to prepare the greater
restoration spell. And as you remember this spell,
you know that part of it is thatyou can regain any hip points
that you've lost from an effect like this.

But I only have one fit level spell slot which I lost on
trying to bring that guy back. Correct.
That greater restoration spell also has a diamond requirement
of 100 GP cost of diamond diamond dust is is the is the

cost of that spell and you are down 15 HPI.

Max HP and then with the short rest I'm at 55 out of 56.
You you because I cast aid on her, which might be why she's

start to see your body kind of start to disappear and you have

a moment before you are completely gone.
If you would like to say anything as in your last moments
here. So would Bic's idea of this be
that I'm going back to where I had been from, or that this is
truly the end? You have no idea.
You think you're going back to your own story, but who knows
