(00:01):
Prepare yourself for the hierarchy of power of the Tall
Tale Tavern to change. I'm Scott Esmond.
He's Kyle Davidson. This is the Tall Tale Tavern
Triple threat D20 talk show. Kyle Roll AD 100.
Let's go. Oh no.
It's the. TTTT.
Show the TTTT show hurry the fuck.
(00:27):
Up Kyle roll the TTTT show. Incredible.
I have rolled, he's rolled. 60. 1.
A 61. All right, Kyle, let's see what
is our first topic of the TTTTTTTT show.
Pick your ideal cast and director for the movie version
(00:48):
of Wild Love and we will have I'm Rolling AD 20.
Oh no, Buckle and Kyle, we got 18 minutes. 18 minutes. 18
minutes 18. Minutes.
One of us should pull up an 18 minute timer.
Oh yeah, that's a good idea. You pulling it up.
Right now. That intro was insane by the
(01:11):
way. I loved it because when I made
the folder and notes for this orwhatever I forgot how many TS.
So it's just I just hit T about 18 times and that's what the
notes are so. Excellent.
All right, timer starts now. Kyle, what is your ideal cast?
Wild Love? Who are the people in Wild Love?
(01:33):
Let's let's slow it down 1st. 'Cause we got 18 minutes to
just. 18 minutes to think of ourmost romantical cast members.
So this is cast, not director. It's both.
I, I, the way I envision these is, you know, if, if in some
sort of nightmare scenario, say somebody rolled in 18 minutes
(01:53):
for a discussion that would maybe take like 3 minutes, you
would think perhaps we just kindof dive into our own, you know,
whatever other details about thefilm we think might be
necessary, you know, for. 18 minutes not this is this is
good. I think we easily can hit 18
minutes. We didn't get 2 minutes
podcasts. You're right, you're right.
We're, we're the casting directors.
(02:15):
So we've got, so our cast, we have Adrastia, we have Adrastia,
the bride. The, the focus of the adventure,
really the, the, the, the emotional core to this one.
Her parents raised her and then told her that she is actually
sort of adopted because her cousin, they're the cousins of
(02:35):
her real mother who raised her and went out and raised her for
a bit. And then she got captured by the
hags and so and sacrificed herself to protect her daughter.
So she's the main focus, the main drive.
So we need like a young ingenue probably for this role.
How old is Adrastia? What?
(02:56):
What age range are we thinking that's people are getting
married older and older these days and we are millennial, but
what is? The average When do people get
married in Fayrun? That's the real question.
That's maybe they're maybe. It's way back in time and
they're like 14 years old and it's really weird.
Let's hope not. Well, what?
Wait, wait. Drastia is what?
(03:18):
What? I think when we she is human, I
believe. She's only human.
I think she's human or possibly half elf.
I just remember her family's allprim and proper.
They are very prim and proper which makes speaks LV to me but.
I think when we did the adventure, we were like, hey,
you're like young adults. So that's generally, you know, I
(03:41):
think 18 to 22 years old is generally what we just I think.
We're that sounds right. That's very that's very young to
be getting married, but I guess not in fantasy times to 1/2 orc
person barbarian. All right, so we need who's.
A. We need her groom Barb the Barb
(04:03):
now. Here's a a big question for Barb
is going to be is Barb a CG character or is Barb an
animatronic character? It's one of those.
Yeah, it's got to be or I guess could be make up, but you know,
you need somebody who's big, right For an orc, how like
they're going to have to be sizable, I think.
(04:24):
So you're we're thinking like a Batista type?
Here. And when I I think young adults,
I think of Dave Batista. Probably.
How old is Batista? You know, Batista is actually
one of those people who is surprisingly old because he like
joined the WWE and his faction was called Evolution, where the
whole point was like, we have the past, present and future of
(04:46):
WWE and he was the past, but he was older than Triple H who was
the present, which is confusing.Just a fun fact for you.
So probably not Batista. Yeah, he's, he's too old.
So we need a barbarian type that's CG.
Well, if it's CG, then we have all the options in the world.
(05:06):
Perhaps Andy Serkis is a well known CG character.
Oh yeah, Andy Serkis would be great for Barb.
One of Barb's Barb is very He's loud.
He's outgoing. A loud, outgoing character.
Maybe we get. Totally in love with Adrastia.
Totally in love. Who are most romantic, you know,
(05:28):
young actors. That's what I I know that if
like for me, I picture like in shape young people and I but
they're all old now, like Zac Efron's old right?
Like he can't be that young guy.And this is the this is today.
See. Well, the the magic of Hollywood
though, is you can cast people who are old and.
(05:49):
That's true, de aging exists. De age, de age them with CG.
There we go. There we go.
That's what we'll do for this. We need to fight a director
who's OK with this. But.
They're all into AI these days, probably.
You know it's fine. So we've got, we got to figure
out Barb and we have to figure out, let's see.
(06:11):
So we have Rolagar. Rolagar is the fierce defender
of address. Rolagar feels like he could be a
little bit older than the others, even though they are
ostensibly all young people. You know, I think we could go
because he's, he's the most responsible and he makes the
sacrifice. You don't want him to be.
You don't want him to be too much older because then it's
(06:33):
weird that it's like this old man hanging out with this young
girl. You know you.
We don't want that. That's what we need to avoid in
this. OK, great.
So we have we have Rolagar, we need to figure out him.
And then we have the final cast member, Diandra, this
necromancer wizard, who also we should probably cast Dead Girl,
(06:58):
right? Dead girl, you think so?
I was also, well, we we're goingto need to cast Christopher then
or the whatever his name is, Christopher Christopher, not
Christopher, Christopher. Very important distinction.
OK, cool. For Diandra, I feel like Diandra
(07:18):
has got to be. I mean, we just got to pick a
creepy young girl actor. I mean, janitor General Ortega
comes like screaming to mind because that's like what she's
doing right now. That's true.
She she would absolutely be on like the shortlist I think of.
I mean, in my mind, Iandra is always Katherine Hahn because
originally Katherine Hahn from How to Lose a Guy in 10 days is
(07:40):
what made me want to be Diandra. The way that she like sabotages
relationships and is overbearingon them at the same time, you
know, like, but we do have we dohave the magic of de aging, but
I still think maybe we don't want to do that because she just
played a witch and Agatha all along.
You know it's going to be hard to get her to.
Sign on. Yeah, yeah.
(08:01):
Like she's going. She doesn't want to be typecast
like that. You know, but Jenna Ortega will
have no problem, I think, being typecast this.
Let's let's let's lock in General Ortega for now for
Diane. She has temporarily been locked
in. She's at the top of the short
list for Diane. It's a good choice.
(08:22):
I mean, I can't think of anybodyelse that's like the spooky
chick right now, you know? Yeah, I keep thinking about
Adrasia because she's our main, our main person, our main, you
know, narrative drive. So we got to, you know, it's
like if we choose, we start with, you know, almost the main
(08:43):
character, then we fill everybody else in who's going to
have good chemistry with the main character, Right, OK.
Adrasia How do we describe Adrasia?
She's she's generally positive person, right?
Very loving and in love. So somebody who's a more upbeat
personality in contrast, I suppose, to our, our to General
(09:07):
Ortega. General Ortega.
Yeah. I'm looking at lists right now
of like, young actors, you know, just just to refresh my mind.
Not that I need help rememberingwho's young.
Here's a here's a thought. I have two thoughts.
Both of them are millies. OK, Veto.
(09:29):
Veto. The second is Millie Alcock.
I don't. Think I know the name Millie
Alcock. Oh, you know the base.
To it, I'm sure I know them, butI don't, I don't hear it and go,
oh, Millie Alcott. So there's this recent movie
that just came out, Superman, ifyou've heard of it, I'm
superbly. Familiar with that?
(09:50):
OK, well that's the only thing Ithink I've ever seen her in.
But I mean just looking at her she does have a great look for
like a fantasy type role. I guess that's why she's also in
House of the Dragon since 2022. I see.
I think she's, yeah. So she's like really feisty in
House of the Dragon and she's going to be like feisty and
Supergirl. So I don't know.
(10:11):
I don't. She's she's a little less like
that in Sirens, the show that Carrie watches.
But I haven't seen that much of it, I don't think.
I don't, you know, I'm, I'm going back.
I'm not sure that the Millies are going.
Back on the Millies. I just think millies are going
to be it. I just think Millie Bobby Brown
probably isn't actually a good actor or a fun hang on set.
(10:31):
I'm just saying I don't think I'd get along with her.
She just adopted a kid, apparently.
You know, I don't have time for somebody with a baby in their
life to. Focus on her baby.
She truly does. Yeah, it's insane.
We we shouldn't. We only have 8 minutes and 40
seconds. Throw me off.
Topic but but it's wild to me that one of the kids from
(10:53):
Stranger Things has a kid now. Yeah, by the time before.
The series. Even ends, but the series ends.
I think about this all the time. When that show started, Barack
Obama was president still. That's how long ago Stranger
Things started. Just think about that.
When? Stranger things started.
I hadn't played DND. Wow.
When Stranger Things started this list of young actors I'm
(11:15):
looking at, none of them were alive at that point.
No way. What about a a Kiernan Chipka?
Who? Of course she played.
She played Sabrina in the Wickedin the Sabrina Show and Sally
and Mad Men, I don't think. You're going to have to, you're
going to have to take the reins on that one.
(11:37):
All right, all right, forget about that.
Let's go FAMO casting General Ortega as a Disney girl right
she from a Disney show let's bring the let's bring the Disney
all the way in famo cast and huge person blowing up right now
Sabrina Carpenter I know she hasacting roots she was on girl
meets world you going to tell meshe couldn't play the part
that's where I know Sabrina Carpenter from is because.
(11:59):
I watched Girl Meets World VMAs whenever I watch.
Whenever I watch her perform like Alive, I just feel like
she's not totally into it. So it very surprises me that
she's like maybe an actress. Interesting.
OK, All right. Well, maybe that's when.
You started with when you started that sentence, I thought
you were going to go Selena Gomez.
And I think that she's actually probably actually a decent fit
(12:21):
for this, but. I don't mind Selena Gomez, it's
just she is, and I'm not trying to age shame anybody, but she is
33 years old, which is outside of the age range that we were
originally given to read as young.
Adults, that's true. But de aging, The magic of de
aging could make Selena Gomez look young and desirable, I
think. I think we got I think we I
(12:42):
think we have to keep moving andwalk in.
Sabrina Carpenter, as are addressed to you all.
Right, Sabrina Carpenter is addressed.
That's going to put asses in theseats.
Yeah, you know that Now who's inOrtega already?
I feel like is I mean. We got an A list cast.
This movie is Green Blitz. Oh.
Man, it's going to happen. Who?
(13:05):
Excellent. We need a good romantic pairing
now for Sabrina Carpenter. Does she have any dating rumors?
Look, can we let's just, let's get some music cast in here.
Benson Boone, Who knows if he has any acting chops?
Probably. I'm not even sure I know which
one. Benson Boone is Benson.
Oh, wait, I do know him. He's the dude on SNL.
(13:26):
Yeah. He's the he's the dude that does
flips. Yeah, yeah, OK.
And I could see a charisma we did maybe need some acting
lessons. I would pay.
For those, you'd pay for the acting lessons out of pocket.
Well, no with the with the with the bud budget.
OK, so we're all paying for it as producers of this film then,
(13:46):
is what I'm hearing? Not just.
Right. Well, we need a big producer for
this. Who do you think we need?
So we have to add that to the list of people we need for this.
Steven Spielberg and you think he'd be in?
I think so I could pitch it to him.
Yeah, why wouldn't he? I mean, he, he connects, I've
never seen him do like a straight up fantasy story,
(14:08):
right? Other than Hook I guess.
How many minutes do we have left?
We have 5 minutes left. Plenty of time, plenty of time.
Let's ease up off this throttle. If anything, I was thinking not
musical, but for a Barb type, wecould get like an Austin Butler.
(14:28):
He's hot right now, you know, and I think.
He Let's get Austin Butler. But he's usually kind of terse
as well. I feel like we it could just be
because it's a tiddly character that I'm like, this has to be
somebody who is going to be. Really boisterous.
Yes, very boisterous actor. In my mind the problem is too
many actors want to be cool and not boisterous.
(14:51):
Yeah, he's very cool. Austin Butler is the epitome of
cool. Way too cool.
That might be the best one we'vegot so far though.
I mean, he if we're just trying to sell tickets at this point,
then. Yeah, I think at this point we
may be honestly, he could maybe play Rolagar.
I could see him giving the performance to like.
Let's slot him as Rolagar. Got him slotted in and that.
(15:19):
So I guess then we're just stuckwith Benson Boone as Barb,
right? You know what, I like it because
it has alliteration. Introducing Benson Boone as Barb
I think is pretty fun. And we get to watch him do flips
and stuff. Yeah, he would be good at the
physical stuff, right? I was thinking maybe we'd get
like a wrestler who was popping or something.
(15:40):
But I'm I'm fine with with. Benson Boone Pro wrestlers I
know are all the old ones, so you'd have you'd have to.
Well, yeah, we're going to get the.
We're going to get the corpse ofHulk Hogan to play the.
Role of dead. He's playing Flicker.
That's fine. That's fine.
Let's move on to director. Perfect.
(16:03):
Because the director's very important.
The director's gonna come aroundthis movie and he's gonna be the
driving force for it. And.
You hear that? Gender bias.
He or she he or she gonna gonna come into this and and give us
that emotional weight, the emotional weight to the story
that is in the Fay wild with bully wugs and and.
(16:24):
The Queen. The queen and hags.
Evil hags boy. Who do you got for this?
I actually think I know who it should be right off the bat in a
way that's like, it's too good if I can, if I can be honest.
And I think it's John M2 who wasthe director of Wicked.
(16:45):
Wicked, yeah. And like step Up and Crazy Rich
Asians, like the one thing I know John M2 can do is a big
fantasy thing and a romance story.
Like those are the two things that.
That makes so much sense becausethe wedding scene in that with
(17:06):
Adrastia and Barb, her walking down the aisle, the like growth
of all of the the flowers behindher and the the the Chapel
transforming was inspired by Crazy Rich Asians by that
entrance. So it's just meant to be that
John Chu has to be the director for this.
We've done too good a job then because we have two more
(17:27):
minutes, Kyle, to discuss so. Two more minutes.
Wow, we've we nailed it. I.
Know that's the problem. I should have held off on it
because I'm like, it's almost too good to say this director
right away. I think he fits so well.
I can't think of anybody else who's like, done both romance
and spectacle in such a large scale, right?
(17:51):
Because obviously there's going to be a lot of spectacle in like
a Swiss wild love that effects Laden.
Well, yeah, there's all the orcs.
And I think that, you know, if she wasn't so busy with The
Chronicles of Narnia, having Greta Gerwig step in would be a
really fun choice. You know, I think that she has
(18:12):
the ability to do, you know, emotional weight.
I didn't see Little Women, though.
Did you see Little Women? Oh, I've seen, not only have I
seen Little Women, I own Little Women.
It's, it's sitting on my Amazon Prime account right next to
Superman. Does it hurt that I want to
watch it? Anything.
You know what, if you heard correctly, it is great.
It's a really good movie. Although, you know, I'm less on
the Timothy Chalamet train than some.
(18:35):
So his presence in the film hurtme, hurt it at the time, But I
think I can get over that now. I am.
I am fully on the Timothy Chalamet train, just I'm the I'm
the conductor. Of I won't, I won't accept that
only during NBA playoff series when we're facing the Knicks,
because I can't have you voting in those.
(18:56):
Yeah. I like Timothy Chalamet.
I think it's he's one of the actors that's just, you know,
what, is he getting overexposed? We only got 20 seconds right
now. Timothy Chalamet is Christopher.
I mean, I mean, he's kind of gotthat little fawn.
He was. He was.
Goofy and Willy Wonka, you know, like he could be goofy.
Got that? There it is.
It could work. We almost didn't gas.
(19:18):
Christopher. I know.
Christopher. Granny.
Christopher. Christopher.
Christopher there it is different.
Things wrap it up. We've got for at a.
Time no longer allowed to speak on this subject, Kyle.
It's over. It's over.
How do you think that went, Kyle?
I think we could take that time after our first role to in my
show notes, I have assessed how it went and I guess introduce
(19:40):
the show and the concept at thispoint and address any other
business that we have. Incredible.
Before we start recording, I asked you, so what's the plan?
And he said don't worry about it, just we're going to start
recording. All right, sick.
It's good. I was hoping.
You wouldn't ask because I really wanted to come in as low
energy as possible and like, OK,we'll get started on the record
(20:03):
and then hit you with it, right?Away so that was amazing
incredible yeah, this is the thetotally terrific tall tale
Tavern triple threat. Yeah, well, I.
Added 20 talk show it. Was originally the Tall Tale
Tavern three times D20 talk showbecause originally, as we both
know it was the daily D20 was the original concept for this
(20:27):
where we just we just do one of those every day and splat it
out. But we decided we want to be
allowed to be loose and goose and talk in between and things.
So we'll just do three of them and allow room for a little bit
of shooting the shit, as they say, which is like a fun way to
say you're hanging out with yourfriends, but a disgusting thing
(20:48):
to do with your friends to shootshit, you know, it's pretty
brilliant. Any definition of shooting,
really. Is.
Yeah, filming it, shooting it, whether it is the thing being
shot or like a like a turd bullet or a bullet going into a
turd, both are disgusting and not things I want to think
about. I'm glad that we are talking
(21:08):
about shit on our first episode. That's great.
And how to shoot it and load it,Make it into small pellets.
I can make AD and D character out of this guy.
Whoa, like a like a space age like chimp who instead of
throwing his poop, Dozy. Yeah, Dozy that.
Shoots they've evolved so far. Instead of throwing it, they've
(21:28):
created a pellet so they could load it into their shooters.
Maybe just a yeah, yeah, yeah, that's, that's incredible.
You can do different timelines and there's slingshots you could
do. But yeah, your next character
for Spell Jammer, guys. I gotta reload.
It's like a musket, so you have to crap it into the barrel and
(21:51):
then take the rod and shove it down in there.
It's a plunger. It's like a little plunger that
I'm shoving. I'm leaving just.
For the flavor. If I'm a player in this, I'm
leaving the ship. Even if even if I'm D Ming it,
I'm leaving the ship. I'm leaving you alone.
I'm putting a banana in a in an escape pod and then like seeing
(22:12):
if they iced you in. Yeah, and then I'm hitting the
button to eject you far away. That's fair.
I think that's very fair. But yes, Kyle, this is with the
totally terrific part. I don't think is necessary to
always be on there. I added that it's implied it's.
Implied. It is totally terrific.
And if we ever, you know, had a full theme song, I was like, I
(22:34):
want to add a bunch of teas to it, you know, throughout a theme
song. So I just start with totally
terrific. You know me.
I love to take a thing that's already cumbersome and just keep
building on it as much as possible until it loses all
shape and is awful. So.
You'll see the The Amorphous. We'll just eventually.
This is the amorphous show of the Tall Tale Tavern.
(22:56):
The Amorphous Tea. It's just a big ball of teas
floating around a big geladdis cube.
But yeah, this is our our new, our new content, a new form of
content for us that we have created.
And you are listening to it right now.
If you are in fact listening to it, most people aren't.
(23:16):
So most people, if you're not listening right now, keep doing
going about your day and not listening.
But if you are listening, you'relistening to what is eventually
meant to be paid Patreon content.
Yeah, I think that there will befree, free episodes of the show
or versions of the show, but there will be lots of Patreon
(23:37):
episodes of this show. That will be where the bulk of
it goes. And so if you listen to this and
you say I need more, I want morethan than the Patreon is where
we will. Guess what?
Pony up the doe if you want more.
And and don't, don't act like we're greedy because we don't
ask you for shit. And as a matter of fact, I was
before this record a mere hour ago.
(23:58):
Don't needing my plasma for money.
So OK, I'm still. I'm still.
Selling a. Bandage on my arm.
I was actually very surprised that, that, that, that you were
donating plasma 'cause I feel like we've had a conversation
about like, like blood donationsor something and it's just been
like, it's like my body I'm donating now you're selling
(24:19):
yourself I've. Become I've become Cosette or
whatever, or not Cosette. Who's the one?
What does Anne Hathaway play in Les Mis?
What's the name? Cosette.
Is it Cosette? Well, is that the kid?
I can never remember the names of the characters, but you know,
she sells her body for for money.
She sells her hair, teeth. Oh, it's F you think?
(24:40):
The guy that loves Les Mis and has seen it.
That's why I was hoping you would know directly.
Remember Fergie? Fergie Fergalicious Fergalicious
Fontine Fontine. My favorite cheese slash Les mis
character. How could I forget?
I gotta take this bandage off now though.
(25:01):
I just remembered it was on while giving that you're.
Gonna start bleeding out on the podcast.
There is blood on my arm. Look at it.
Look at it. Gross.
You. Do talking about blood or
talking about poop. Yeah, so give so so so if you're
listening to this also and you're thinking I don't want to
listen to this, but I love the tall tale Tavern.
Well, don't worry, the regular adventures will become because
(25:22):
we are this. We haven't even announced on Bop
Bop hold on my computer froze, but it's back now because we we
have not even announced on anything that we are taking any
sort of like break officially, right?
Is this the official announcement right now that
we're taking a break? We had no plan.
(25:44):
There is no plan for this episode announcements.
Yeah, we have a little bit of a break, but we also don't know
when this episode is coming out.So it's all kind of in the in
the nebulae we have you may. Already have been in the break
for a very extended amount of time without realizing that you
are in fact in the break. So we hate to break it to you
(26:04):
that. That has been in the break,
yeah, That you already know about.
But we are actively recording and editing future stuff.
We just want to change up the release structure, right?
Yeah, the, our previous release structure idea was consistent
content, like every two weeks putting out an episode, so you'd
(26:24):
have kind of a new adventure each month to listen to, listen
to. We did that for a while, and
we're switching it up to yeah, yeah, two years.
And we're switching it up to kind of have breaks between
adventures, have some sprinklingin of longer and shorter
adventures so that when they do release, it'll be something more
(26:49):
like a little hyped up a little more.
Hey, this is a new adventure andit'll come out weekly and we can
enjoy it together, maybe do somethings like watch parties and
you know, live episode releases to kind of listen to together
and to enjoy it as a group together.
And I think that that that is more in line with how I think
(27:11):
about making content in general is in that way, it's.
Because we're children of of thetrue television era, right?
We're used to a world where a show makes a bunch of episodes
and releases them for a season, and then you don't hear from
them for nine months. And then they come back and they
do that again, and you stay in touch with the show and you're
(27:32):
excited for them in spite of thefact that you don't get reminded
about it every single day. So I'm a fan of this idea of
yeah. We're all.
Well our old YouTube format is more like make a thing, release
it. That definitely has a
cliffhanger. Definitely promises more is to
come. Have 0 plan for that.
(27:54):
Cliffhanger or what to? Make so we're a little bit
better than that in that you, I think have a full vision for the
campaign that we're recording right now and you're not you
think. You think?
We've recorded like three of them and maybe we'll schedule
more, maybe not, who knows, maybe.
(28:15):
We'll wrap it up next episode. Perfect.
That would be quite shocking if that were.
Oh no, I got this campaign all Imean, mapped out.
And I mean that's the the general way I do it is with big,
old, big ol outline to outline the major plot points, make sure
everything's going to fit and work well.
And then kind of start with doing it episode by episode
(28:37):
because in the TTRPG space, the storytelling can go in different
directions. And so I don't write out every
single detail beforehand becausea lot of those details change.
And so if the if the cruise goesinto a different direction or
something else happens, it influences the world, then then
(28:59):
that's what happens. So.
One of these days on the podcast, I'm just going to, I'm
just going to commit to going 100% against what I think you
have planned. Just not acknowledge just though
there's a hook this way. No, we're going the other way,
everybody. We're turning around.
We're going. I would like to not do that.
(29:20):
In fact, what town are we? Yeah.
Is there an in perhaps. Is there a, you know, can I go
shopping? Yeah.
Yeah, changed my mind about thisone.
My character, they want to go buy a new cat.
And so we're just going to go buy.
We're going to do cat shopping, Kyle.
We're going to abandon the lich that is attacking the town,
(29:40):
church or whatever and go do something else.
That's it. That'll be the premise of the
adventure. Maybe is I'll have something
planned but then it ruins it because then like I'm planning.
For you to screw it up, it can'tgo off the rails if oh look,
it's just more rails. That's not true.
This will be you'll give me backwhen we do when we end up doing
(30:04):
the idea that I had where it was.
Every character gets a get gets a magic item that allows them to
ask me, the DM, one question or ask for something.
And I have to say yes as the DM where the player gets set gets
to request anything to happen, like a supercharged wish spell I
(30:27):
feel like. You've mentioned that to me
before and literally the first thing I was like, well I'll just
ask you if I can be DM Can I be DM now?
Great, yes. And then we would switch places
give. Me your papers.
Let's do this. Or you said you wouldn't give me
the papers. Yes.
Oh yeah, I wouldn't give you thepaper, the prep.
This is my prep. I well, I'm not trying to be the
writer, I'm trying to be the game master, so.
(30:48):
You see, it's also need the outline.
How about? That's all I need.
That'll be, you know, if there'smonsters that are about, I'd
like to have their stat blocks handy is all.
It's true. Yeah.
So yeah, if you like this show that you're listening to or if
you like the normal version of this show that's not like this
and you want to support that show, either way, the money you
(31:12):
spend on this goes to supportingus making that other stuff and
hopefully eventually goes to me not selling my body, but I'm
kind of into it, so I mean. You're kind of into.
The point kind of into it kind of like that feeling when the
blood goes back in cold or like the saline, you know, and you
start getting the shivers. A nice feeling.
(31:35):
I like being in a place where I know I'm one of the only people
who has like, washed their clothes.
It's kind of the vibe around. A lot of the people around me
are a lot of people wearing their pajamas still have clearly
just woken up and come. You go to you dress up nice when
you go to the plasma. Donation.
I'm dressed up. I wear my tux.
(31:55):
Yeah. I got a beaten here.
You show up. I mean, it's a, you know, you're
selling your body and you want to present your body in a good
way. My body is a temple.
So of course, if we ever do the an adventure where we shrink
down and we go into somebody, there's got to be a joke about
how the body is a temple. You know, like it's like we're
(32:15):
entering. That's one of the that's that's
one of the religions in the bodyis they they believe that it's
all a temple. It's a temple, OK that we've.
Addressed what? So, yes, so if you like, yeah.
So all the, the, if you've enjoyed the show, yeah.
Supporting us through the Patreon is really helpful.
So Scott doesn't have to continue to sell his body.
(32:38):
And I mean, where, where does itend?
Scott, how much are you willing to sell?
Are you willing to sell a kidneyfor the show?
I mean, is it? You don't need 2 kidneys, right?
No, you don't need 2 kidneys, no.
I'd get rid of 1 I think. Well, I don't really.
I don't really drink. That's what you mostly need them
for, right? I don't drink anything.
I mean, like, I don't drink liquids in general, so it's
(33:00):
like, I don't need one. Yeah.
Is it your liver? That's your liver that you need
your for drinking. The liver filters out alcohol.
Yeah, and kidney, the kidney. Gets all of the toxins out of
your blood and so. So alcohol is not a toxin?
What the fuck? Well, the liver.
The liver has the enzymes to to take care of the, the, the
alcohol and then your body converts all these, you know,
(33:25):
nutrients and things into, into, you know, urea and whatnot.
And the kidneys filter that out and resorb everything that you
need so you don't lose like yourprecious, you know, blood sugar
and whatnot. And then it becomes urine and
then you pee it out. And so, yeah, so you need your
kidneys. If you don't have your kidneys,
you're, you're not going to havea good time.
(33:45):
You need dialysis, you need your, you need a big machine to
do the kidney, the work of the kidneys.
But. All right, and you've got what,
6 kidneys at your house? Well, yeah, but yeah, I collect
them, yeah, from patients, you know, just.
I see what I was going for therewas your children all have
knees. So that's that's six kidneys.
(34:06):
No, I thought you were saying that I do some here's your
medicine in my office. I'm not joking about the real
situation of your. Office guy.
I'm not talking about how I always wake up in a bathtub full
of ice after every visit, but new.
Scar so hashtag Save Scott's body.
(34:28):
Save Scott's Kidneys GoFundMe for the show so you can save
your kidneys so you don't have to sell them.
Next order of business, Kyle. The people who are listening to
the show don't know it yet, but they are part of this show.
We need to ask our Discord for somebody to roll AD 100 and AD
20 for the third topic. OK, we'll have them rolled now
(34:48):
so that by the time we get to our third topic, we've got the
numbers. I think that makes the most
sense, right? Sounds good.
So we should go. One of us should go in there,
probably. Me into the lounge?
Yeah, I'll just sit on in the lounge.
At everyone, give me AD 100 and AD 20 roll please, Anybody,
anyone, even at here in case people don't want to get
(35:09):
bothered or aren't actively there.
And if they don't respond, I'll just text Becca directly or
mail. Directly at everyone.
You're about to mention 100 pluspeople.
Are you sure? Whoa, whoa, bragging that
there's a hundred plus people inour Discord?
Kind of. Bragging.
So there will be 100 plus Patreon subscribers is what that
I'm sure there'll be 100 plus ofyou that are in the discord that
(35:33):
all subscribe to the Patreon. I I'm positive of that.
Well, we'll see. We'll see who gets back to us on
that. Whoever responds first is our
favorite member of the Tavern, and we will.
Never. That will be Canon.
Yes, that will be. If it's not, back to shaver.
They get a specific seat in the in the Tall Tale Tavern with
(35:54):
their name labeled on there, so a nice.
Whoever responds first, they getdibs to be in the next one shot
that we do. OK great.
Oh, shit, what's happening? It's not Kyle.
We're not worried about that yet, though, because it's my
turn to roll for a topic. We're going into our second
topic. I'm rolling it.
(36:14):
Let's do this second to roll howlong you do the D20?
I'll do the the topic itself. Let me see what we got.
We were rolling because it was literally one number beneath
what you rolled. I rolled.
You rolled 61, I rolled 60. That's garbage.
(36:36):
Garbag. Garbaggio.
OK, Kyle, I have our topic. OK.
We will be discussing which character not played by you on
the show do you most wish that you could play Slash would have
thought of and how long will we be discussing that?
(36:57):
We will be discussing this one for. 12.
Minutes. 12 minutes. That's doable.
That's doable. We can do 12.
I just, I just need to listen, let me just restart the timer.
I definitely I definitely was prepared for this part of the
show. So just don't worry about it.
It was done perfectly and our time starts now.
(37:19):
OK, so we have to pick a pick a character, Yes, any.
Character on the show that you did not play that you think
would be fun to play. OK, You wish you had thought to
play. My first thought is I'm just
going through the characters that you have played because
you're the person who's right infront of me and that's how my
frame works. And I do think of all the ones
that you played, I think Bob would be the most fun.
(37:41):
Oh. He's a plasmoid.
Plasmoids are so fun. And he's he's just pure goofball
energy. And yeah, Plasmoid lets you do
like fun shaping things wheneveryou want, you know, to your
character, which is just come on, that's that's rich for
opportunities throughout a century.
And he's a Midwest dad. Like that's just easy and fun.
I. Mean, I already exactly copied
(38:02):
his vibe with Don Donaldson, so there's.
Your characters. You just have a short list of
characters. Yeah, I've played one or two on
the. Character L10 seem L10 seems
like a massive headache to play but I do like his vibe.
I love a little dude who just wants to help.
That was my initial thought. And I'm like, oh man, no, I got
to know all these rules and spells you.
(38:24):
Just have to have the 5E tools website up next to you so that
you can search through like 400 spells at any given moment to
try to figure out what seems most applicable.
Does it sound like your jam? Yeah, maybe.
Sort of. Yeah, it'd be fun.
It'd be. It'd be interesting, but I don't
think you're going to. First thought would be.
(38:46):
Just knowing that that's the first of my characters that you
did kind of try to play. It's true.
I was very excited about playingas to Odd Evil to Odd and an
Expedition Untold that was that was a blast.
I was very excited to play an Oath Breaker, Oath breaker
paladin of of Tawad. He would be very fun.
(39:07):
I've always, I don't. I've never.
I've yet to play a paladin, I think.
Interesting. I think you would love a
paladin. Yeah, well, my, you know, my
groggy character from our one ofRyan's home campaign that we
play in, He's a cleric of Thor that swings a hammer and he's
basically a paladin. And then he literally has oaths
(39:29):
now to Thor because, you know, he tried.
He shocked himself with a lightning bolt in order to speak
with Thor because he's obsessed with them.
So he's like basically a paladin, but I've never actually
played a paladin. And I think that I would love to
do it. It's just so fun to have like
because all all, all character work is in a way like what are
(39:51):
the rules for your character, right?
What's your game, so to speak? And paladins have very well
defined, I believe this thing. And I always do X when presented
with Y, and that makes it very easy to get into the character.
I think of a of a paladin personally.
(40:12):
I think Zaz would be a lot of fun to play, just like Aloof
Bard. I would.
It would be easy for me to just choose Zaz.
Honestly I I think bards are hilarious.
And if you were playing Zaz, I think I would have a ton of fun
playing Aura dealing with the Zaza.
It would be a real role reversalof the dynamic for us for you to
be the one constantly pestering me and annoying me I feel like.
(40:36):
Yeah, I think Zaz Zaz might actually be a pick of mine and
he's he's a top contender, all right, but yeah.
Bards like through each one now in my.
Head I feel like bards are one of our technically my favorite
class. You know, I think I just love
the idea of music and and the music affecting spells and
(40:58):
things like well, I recently watched K pop K pop Demon Hunter
and I'm like, Oh, this is sick. They're all bards and I and I
love love that. You know, so my first character
was a Bard, so I remember I think I'd I think I'd have to
pick Zaz. I just it's it's their easy.
You're not everyone else has ever played a Bard on this
(41:19):
podcast. Go fuck yourself.
You're not as good as Zaz. No one's as good as Zaz.
Who could ever dream of being asgood as Zazz?
Take that. Solo and and an expedition
untold. Legendary.
Hell yeah. And your first thing I remember
the first time you played D&D, you like told me like that you
had played a Bard and you had killed a wolf with a recorder or
(41:41):
something like that, or playing your recorder or.
Playing Oh, yeah, that was like my first session.
I like, like I I use dissonant whispers or something to or
vicious mockery, something to play who let the dogs out loudly
into a in a wolf's ear. And it blew up like that was I
was like, oh, sick. Yeah.
This is this is this is the gameI love.
(42:02):
This is my new obsession. I'm starting a podcast.
Yeah. I'm starting media.
At least I'm starting a podcast. Here we go.
And folks, one week later, Can you believe it?
Here we were playing Wow. It was that fast.
You can do it too. I'm looking through all the
adventures here. I mean, I can't believe I didn't
say what I think of my genuine answer would be.
(42:24):
And I think if you think about which character I was the most
excited to show up for during Expedition Untold, then you
could probably guess who I wouldwant to be.
And that answer is obviously from the Wild West.
Diandra. Not Diandra, that's my
character. Oh, Cassie, no sense.
Oh, oh, Mike. Oh who?
(42:45):
Was I excited about? Valley, Jack.
Valley Jack is Jack would reallywant to be his Valley Jack.
Come on. That's the dream right there is
to be the the ultimate full herohimself and just get to make up
nonsense. I don't think I could do it,
though. I think that is a character I
would be too nervous to try and play because I don't think I'm
(43:08):
on Charlie's level or or wavelength exactly for coming up
with like the tallest man entersthe room.
You know, it's like things like just the way the biggest man
you've ever seen. Yeah, just it's so fun to me in
a way that I don't necessarily think I could pull off.
I'm looking through each adventure now, trying to think
(43:30):
of who I would want to be that Iwasn't Monster Bash.
I don't want to be anybody because I don't want to be the
bag man no matter what. Sorry.
I don't want to pick. Anybody just on the chance that
I somehow, yeah, I would. Love to play the bag man.
I would love to play the bag man.
It's so weird and creepy and awful.
I think I love characters like that that are just like kind of
gross or creepy and and unnerving to be around.
(43:52):
I mean, I do like getting to do that, like kind of noise for his
mob. Honestly, do think that of that
group, the one I would most wantto be is Brian's Barty.
Thala. Barty the smarty nobody.
I never get to be a character that gets picked on, you know?
I'm very rarely the one who is picked upon because.
(44:13):
I pick on you, dude. Yeah, we gotta, and we gotta
bully you a little bit. We need a character.
I need a character who's bullied.
The problem is I'll have to. Suppose a little bit to clap
back. Yeah, well, your character in
Monster Bash, you guys got bullied a little bit and then
you immediately charged and fought them, Yeah.
Bullies. That's true.
See, he was not a good characterto bully, though.
(44:34):
I need somebody who takes the abuse in a way that I don't
think I've had that. And I think that Barty the
smarty would allow me to to do that.
Brian always plays characters that are very like whatever's
happening. I'm fine with it.
You know, like half his characters know that they're
characters, it seems like. So true.
(44:56):
He's just like, sure, OK, we're going along with it.
And yet somehow, even though in the moment when we're recording,
it often feels like he's not invested or like he just doesn't
care, somehow it ends up being like the funniest stuff in the
episodes to me. When Brian is on Cloudy with a
Chance of Fireballs, I think I would choose Agathis is who I
(45:17):
would want to play as in that one.
I liked Agathis a lot. He was.
Just from a build perspective, I've never gotten to play one of
those dudes that plays like the plus 10 to the persuasion
innately or whatever where you're just.
Like the eloquence bar where it's, it's, it's not a + 10,
it's the lowest you can roll is a 10.
And so, so by the time you like get that ability as an eloquence
(45:41):
bar, you already have a + 10 to like persuasion and deception.
So it's so on those roles, the lowest you can ever roll is a
20, which is just wild. And it's amazing and it's a
challenge for the DM. I'm sure what it's like.
Hey my character literally neverrolls less than a 20 on their
(46:02):
like Charisma some of their Charisma checks.
I don't want to say anything toomuch about myself, but I feel
like I really would be a nightmare in that situation if
you gave me the ability to basically guarantee I'm going to
make every persuasion check to anybody I talk to.
I imagine, I imagine like it'd be really fun to play as a
prankster for that. So like Cassie, no sense your
(46:22):
character as a prankster. Imagine if like her persuasion
was always like her deception was always minimum 20, you know,
on whatever she was trying to convince people to do.
I do like that. Gosh, I love Cassie.
All right, we've got Kyle. Our time is at 2 1/2 minutes to
to really lock in on who our number one choice would be.
(46:43):
So I'm looking at these other ones here.
I don't know if there's anybody.I mean, actually, I do think I
would have a lot of fun playing Kringle.
Hark and Kringle in A Christmas Peril.
Yeah. Yes, that's just Santa's.
Hi. Hi, bro.
Son who's just like everyone loves him.
Life of the party. Yeah, and I love.
Playing like a doofus barbarian?I haven't really.
(47:06):
The only barbarian I think I've played on the pod was in was
Belk and Gladion theaters and technically score in one
episode. I've only played one barbarian
in my life and it was. Which you forgot about that you
had even done. You and I were having a
conversation and you had forgotten that.
What's his face from Mav's haunted house?
(47:26):
Cam Oh, yeah, so I played too, because I just forgot about him
again. Zip.
I forgot about the zip. It's because he was so weird.
He was a he was a he, he he was the haunted one or whatever
where he like could grow claws and and and like became a little
evil goblin man when he raged. I totally forgot about it.
Who was the one that did play that you remembered?
(47:49):
But. Was the recent one that we did
with it was one of the ones thatRyan did through the Tavern
where we kind of just like whoever can play can play and I
played Marcus the booger man, a sentient booger that a giant
sneezed out of is. I love that character, by the
way. That's probably my favorite.
Character that you've made. He's great.
(48:11):
He's so gross. He's got a big nostril hair of
the giant that courses up through his body and kind of
floats in there and pokes out the top of his head, and he
knows he's made out of mucus, but he doesn't know much because
he just really recently came to life.
But he's trying to find love, trying to find purpose and
trying to get gold because that's what that's what he heard
(48:32):
was was a good thing to to find.See, I understand you're looking
for gold. He also does think that he's a
good, he's a good candidate for love because he heard love can
break your heart. He doesn't have a heart.
And so he thinks that he's actually a pretty good candidate
for love. So he's out there looking for
love and gold and love. Marcus I would like.
(48:52):
I would play a campaign with Marcus.
Oh yeah? Well, Kyle, we have 20 seconds
to lock in our final answers. I'm going to throw out a couple
things really fast. Rapid fire.
It'd be great to play Hugh so I can do unreal amounts of damage,
but I know I'm never going to roll those.
You're never going to roll. You're going to play Hue and
you're like, this sucks, I can'tget anything.
Ass so I'm not going to eat up anymore.
This time I'm just going to lockin Thwick as my answer.
(49:13):
You have 5 seconds to lock in answer.
Namby lock it in, I won. I love clerics.
Boom. We.
There it is. We.
Crushed it. There it is.
That was 12 minutes of discussing that and we're never
allowed to discuss it again. So.
We sure aren't. That's a real.
Shame. Well, we asked the discord what
it is. Kyle, it's not time for that.
In between the second rule I have written here in my notes,
(49:35):
this is where Kyle does his big segment he has prepared.
Right, my big segment that I have.
Your big segment, we're all ready for it.
Yeah. Thank you all for coming to my
big segment. This is the first, first
installment of the big segment. I would like to discuss some of
(49:57):
my own expertise. I think this is a good place to
discuss different blood, blood pressure medications, their
dosing and and their effects on the body.
And so yeah, is this, is this good?
This is what we should. Do I think so?
I mean it ties back into the plasma donation in a way, right?
So I think it's nice to keep things on a blood focus sort of
(50:20):
discussion right now. What is it that they put in in
the thing that makes it so like my lips feel kind of tingly for
a second. Like I think it's like the anti.
In the plasma donations. Yeah, there's something like
that when they're when it's feeding back in the blood, some
sort of coagulant or anticoagulant or something.
I can feel it when it first hitsbecause my lips start to get a
(50:41):
little tingly numb for just a second.
I'm like, oh hey, it's coming, whatever that is.
That is interesting. I have no clue what they how the
plasma donation even like works and how they like filtered out
and what they give back to you so.
We'll have to learn. I'll do my best to learn next
time I'm in there. That'll be next that'll be
(51:02):
that'll be next episode segment what happens with the plasma
donation and I'll. Perfect.
That is our next segment. Folk.
I do have written in here, not that you actually should have to
have the segment, but there probably should be something
between roles 2 and 3, loathe asI am to say it, that we could be
reserved for a classic made for TV podcast style game of some
(51:23):
sort of anybody. No, no, I know.
Oh no, I also have written. I mean, there was Landy's so
desperate for us to do his PhD and D or whatever the hell his
D&D school concept, but I don't know if there's you and I both
have basically agreed that we'reidiots and we're not the right
people to. Rule.
Yeah, we're not the right people.
You are probably more than I am,Which is ironic because I'm the
(51:45):
DM who's like adjudicating rules.
I think when you're in the DM seat, you have this, you have
this ability to like, say, you know, that rule doesn't you
know, we're just going to skim over that right now and like you
have some of that power. And so it so it makes it so you
may maybe forget that you that to like know the details of all
the spells you know and all the things when you can kind of
(52:08):
fudge over it. I think that's fair because you
have ultimate authority anyway. So it's like, do I need to get
down into the nitty gritty of exactly how to rule this thing
that intuitively makes sense to me, how to rule it?
You know, Like, I understand that.
Well, we'll come up with something that should normally
go into it. Could be something where like
(52:28):
the like patrons could come up with something to.
If you're listening right now and you've got any segment ideas
for what should go between the second and third role of the
TTTTTTDT show, then please it'll.
Be the TTTTT Showtime out. There we go.
(52:52):
I like that. Time out, we have a Patreon
question. There's I did have listed like
possibly like the polling of ahead of time.
One of us would have had to do this.
We didn't do it this time, but polling of like if there's any
sort of Reddit controversy, you know, like there's always some
post. It's like my DM told me that I
(53:12):
couldn't roll with advantage andthen kick me in the nuts.
Should I leave the table? Like there's always things like
that that pop up. Sorry, that's not a real one.
That's what happened on our last.
Session that happened at your last session.
It's frequent. It's a, it's a mechanic at our
own table. It's a one of my home rules.
You asked a stupid question, getkicked in the nuts.
(53:32):
Stand up, kick in the nuts. It's really a boon for the
females at the table. You know the males are.
Really affected by that. It's a.
Strong advantage. Me and Tyler are being punished
unfairly, I think. Yeah.
So, OK, we'll come up with something for that in the
(53:53):
future. Or you will.
Listeners, I had something else.Oh, I know we're already going
along on our time right now. But you mentioned the plasma
donation. You were surprised I would do it
because I've said probably before that I wouldn't do that.
And you know why? Because the first time I went to
donate plasma 12 years ago, the machine or whoever was handling
the needles poked them through too far.
(54:14):
So filtering the blood back in wasn't working.
It was just like pulling up basically and bruising gross
right? So they did it on the right arm
1st and she's like I'll just move the left arm.
Did the same thing on the left arm after I had given because
they they take you know, like 200 millilitres of blood and
then they filter it and they putit back in and then they take
again and does that like 5 times.
(54:35):
It was after I had given the 200millilitres of blood and they're
like well, we just can't put it back into you now.
I'm like OK this. Is our blood did they have?
Did you look closely? Do they have like, sharp fangs,
pale complexion? Yeah, they did have.
Extremely Buffy score heads. Yeah, those vampire crinkles.
But they were. Sank sank their teeth into the
(54:58):
bag as they walked away and drank it.
Yeah, so that happened and I fainted because I hadn't like,
eaten like you should. If you're gonna donate blood
versus plasma especially, you should probably eat something.
So I stood up. I fainted.
I never went back. I went to sign up to donate
plasma again. There's a mark on my record that
says it needs a doctor's approval because I fainted the
(55:21):
last time I gave plasma. They can only approve it at the
Bloomington location with a doctor there.
I called up the Bloomington location.
I say, hey, you might know, 12 years ago I was in and I
fainted. Do you guys remember that?
They say, no, we destroyed all paperwork because it's over 10
years old. We can't do that.
We cannot to approve this, so I had to get a district quality
(55:44):
manager from Bio Life to approveremoving that, which took two
weeks of me calling and coming in repeatedly to finally be able
to give my place. It says right here on your
record that you're a wuss, yeah.Exactly.
Every single time I'm like, I was like, yeah, I fainted.
And they're like, oh, I'm like, it wasn't like, it's not like
I'm a wuss. It's like the energy I would
always have to bring. Like they took my.
(56:05):
Blood and they didn't give it back.
That was part of the. Problem.
You have my blood. You owe me 200 millilitres of
blood. Still, you owe me blood.
Give me. Blood all right, so there's that
story. That was our that was our
segment here. Now Kyle, you were going to
bring up we did ask this discordfor some roles for our third
(56:25):
discussion Gothic. We got some responses, let's say
over here. You guys just said how first one
wins. Yeah, we probably should have.
Now they're all expecting this to mean something when only the
first one does, only the first one means anything.
And that is Robbie. Robbie.
Robbie Ronde member You're the 1st.
(56:48):
Contestant. Yes.
Robbie helped with the with the Gladiator's play tests.
Actually he was one of the play tests do.
You remember. No on the play test.
You've only DM for like 400 characters?
I remember them all. The play test was like, you
know, 2 hour segment. I remember they were the play
test where they basically just tried to grapple each other and
(57:10):
throw them into, into one of thepits, but everybody kept failing
the rolls. So like they, we went through a
round of initiative and they're all like, all right, so we good,
are we good? Then they kept moving after they
like both tried to throw each other in and then it failed.
It was pretty funny. All right, Kyle, I think this is
when you're going to have to be in charge of because Robbie has
rolled an 82 and that is random monster manual page have to.
(57:36):
Talk about that. We have to talk about the
monster and this is these. Are Kyle pitch this question?
So he must be. The one.
So let me grab. I got a I'm gonna grab it.
I'm gonna. Grab it as folks all chill and
fill the air. Chill and fill the air.
I'm over here singing a song while Kyle's taking ways too
(57:57):
long because I'm singing thing. He's going upstairs.
I don't know what he's saying, but he's talking to the mic and
I didn't hear a word that he fucking said because I was
singing along instead. Here I go singing a song,
building the time all along. I don't know what else to say
and so I'm going to roll a die. Hey, A7 on AD 10, everybody.
(58:22):
So pretty good, pretty good. Accidentally deleted the
question inside of the the goodness.
I deleted a cell of my, of my big spreadsheet of questions for
the TTTTTTDTT S, the show, the talk show, the, you know, I
deleted a box, but I've, I've replaced it, folks.
(58:43):
I've filled it back up. So don't you worry.
And if you're wondering how muchtime we will have to discuss
this, well, you'll find out in just a minute because Kyle sat
back down with the book now, andthus I can stop talking to
myself exclusively. Hey Kyle, is it going?
You found the book? I didn't hear what you said when
you talked into the because I was singing a song when you came
(59:04):
up and I couldn't break the song.
I can't hear you. You couldn't hear.
You can't hear me. Oh, I am muted, Kyle.
I'm muted. That's fine.
I mean, I'm not muted on the record, so it's not it won't
affect anybody else. Oh, I figured you're sharing
some secrets. No, no, no secrets.
I was. I was saying that I didn't hear
(59:25):
anything you said when you came up to talk to the microphone
because I was actively singing asong about you looking for the
book. And so I couldn't stop.
No, I said no. I just said that the book is all
the way on my night stand because I read it before I go
night night and I read my about the little monsters.
It's become very disruptive actually for Carrie, for my
(59:45):
wife, because I turn the page and it's, if it's a
particularly, particularly scarymonster, I'll scream, you know?
Every time. Can you pull up actually a
random number generator for this?
Gosh darn right. I mean you want me to just post
in the discord random number generator?
(01:00:06):
Between 1 and 384. Let's see if this will work.
Generate Kyle. Oh, that's beautiful.
And round 100. Whoa.
OK, Page 100. OK, Do you have the time?
Oh, we do. We have the time yet.
We have the time. I was waiting for you to just
say the monster, but I do have the time.
(01:00:27):
Here's the monster. We have a oh, a doppelganger.
That's a good choice. We got a doppelganger and we
have. 6 minutes to discuss it starting now.
OK, what the hell doppelganger? The doppelganger is this shape
shifting infiltrator. It is a supernatural being with
(01:00:48):
the ability to shape shift into any human like form.
And this is a great monster for me to talk about because perhaps
my favorite character I've ever created, my favorite NPC of all
time was a doppelganger in our home campaign of Arkindel, where
the the the principal of the school, principal Arrington, the
(01:01:12):
the bald eagle principal Eric Okra was in fact a doppelganger
who had taken his place many years ago.
But but yeah, the doppelganger is something that can shape
shift. And the whole point of it is to
really just trick the players into it being something else.
And so the, the IT was he was the main villain essentially of
(01:01:35):
our home campaign. There was a legend in the
basement, but he was kind of theconstant presence that was
trying to convince the party most of the time that he was
part of their crew and like helpful and wanting to help when
really he was working for the enemy.
He was basically the enemy. Yeah, Kyle Mad.
I moodied the shit out of us forlike years.
(01:01:56):
Like we were with Arrington we just thought was incompetent for
years. Not that he was evil like.
Yeah, he was incompetent. He was supposed to be the, you
know, the principal of this magic school.
So like supposed to have spells. He, he's a doppelganger, didn't
have any magical ability other than the ability to use magic
(01:02:16):
spells from his wands and his rings.
So he had a belt of all these like confiscated wands that he
had. He had his hands fingers were
full of rings. One of those rings had to be a
ring of mind shielding because the the Bart in the group Brooks
character can like read thoughts.
And but that is eventually what was his undoing was that was
(01:02:37):
that ring of mind shielding us being fed up with not being able
to read his intentions and goingfull, I don't know, like it was
like mental breakdown mode, but it was apparently the best
decision we ever made was to suddenly decide we're gonna
steal his ring and swallow it and like.
(01:02:58):
Yes, so funny. They're on.
You guys are on your way to something and and he interrupts
you in the hallway and you're like, you know what, we're done.
We're we're we're we're attacking him tying him up
stealing the ring off his fingerBackus character EU auntie just
opened up her giant mouth and just swallowed up the ring and
it's gone and we're going to read your memories and you found
(01:03:20):
out that he was evil the whole time.
Incredible because there's all these different ways that could
have you know for him. It's so hard to keep it.
It was really really difficult to to keep an MPC around that
you you guys didn't know was a doppelganger and to not like
have that be easily revealed. There's so many tools that
players have to like roll insight checks and things to see
(01:03:43):
if someone's lying, you know, there's the detective.
A bunch of dip shits over here. No, it wasn't because like the
ring of mine shielding he put onlike after, you know, a couple
sessions after like a spell had been cast in a room that he had.
You know, there was a he had a statue in his office that if
someone cast a spell in the room, it would like notify him.
(01:04:04):
And so that like indicated he needed to put on the ring.
Yeah, that was he's he's my favorite character I've made and
and ever was this doppelganger. It was truly an amazing reveal.
I think for us, like because even when we even when we had
kidnapped him and taken the ring, we still didn't know he
(01:04:24):
was a doppelganger at that point, right?
I'm pretty sure he maybe got killed before we even found out
that information by the Lich. I can't remember, but I just
know that Tyler, yeah, that Tyler and I, like, went to
Arrington's office and we're like, we just happen to like,
find a trap door or whatever in there while we had him
(01:04:46):
kidnapped, we thought. And then we get in there, it's
like door to portal to a beach with fat old Arrington there and
we're like what the fuck is going on?
He was trapped like this, you know, on this island, had been
there for like 80 years or whatever, living on this beach
alone. And yeah, yeah, you guys didn't
(01:05:08):
find out it was a doppelganger Ithink until he died and assumed
his, his previous form or his his true form, which is just
kind of like a formless creepy dude.
It truly, I don't know, I feel like because of the fact too,
that we had gone through such anarc with him of like initially
hating him, being distrustful, and then really hating him
(01:05:29):
because he got one of us killed basically, and then like
starting to trust him when he seemingly was like, all right,
I'm laying it all out on the table, guys.
I understand things are bad here.
Let's work together to make thiscool.
Fix it, you know, and we're like, we bring our friends back
to life and I feel like there's so many times I'm like, Brooke
was so nasty to him. I was like, we've moved on.
(01:05:52):
It's OK, Brooke. I know there's trauma, but we
can trust Arrington, don't worry.
He's fine. He's a good guy.
He's just kind of bad at being aprincipal and bad at being a
magic user and all this stuff. When I think my favorite, my
favorite detail of this was he had the he had a magic wand that
he promoted to all of you as this like is like this was
(01:06:14):
passed down through the centuries through my family
since the ferry wars. And it's this, you know, it's
ultra powerful wand and he coulddo all these spectacular things
with it, all these different types of abilities, and then you
end up finding out it was just awand of major image and it was
all illusions. So when he was so behind the
screen, I'm like rolling attack rolls, I'm like, oh man, he miss
(01:06:35):
as the like razor blades he formed.
Fling out the at the giant tree on miss.
Kyle Kyle no longer allowed to speak about this ever again.
Time is up. Gone time up.
That was the doppelganger. Was our doppelganger talk, and
that's three. That's the that's the triple
threat of. That's the triple threat.
(01:06:55):
Of the totally terrific Tall Tale Tavern triple threat D20
talk show. We've done it.
I guess it's. It's over.
You feel like we should be done.If you're satisfied with that,
if you're listening and you liked it, then, you know, make
sure you go to our Patreon, which is probably
patreon.com/talltale. Were they all?
Were they all factors of of 6? We had 6 minutes.
(01:07:17):
We had 12 minutes and 18 minutes.
Oh yeah, they were. That's weird.
That's three. 3 * 6 The true threat.
Well then if we subtract 6 minutes each time, then we have
0 minutes for the fourth topic, so.
We are thinking. This wrapping up at this point,
thank you to whoever did our artwork.
(01:07:38):
Maybe we're still using Zayzar'sartwork.
Thank you to whoever did the theme song for this show.
Maybe we're using the one that Idid at the beginning.
Thank you to. Yourself.
Thank you to. Me, thank you to me.
But on that note, make sure you go to our Discord, make sure you
give us a five star review and all that other business.
Kyle, we're done. We're done.
Cut it off. We can't talk about it anymore.
Cut it.
