The Israel–Hamas peace plan.

On Wednesday, Israel and Hamas agreed to the first stage of President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza. Precise details of the agreement are still being worked out, though the initial provisions took shape over night. Under the terms, within 24 hours, Israel will retreat to agreed-upon deployment lines — remaining in control of about half of Gaza; within 72 hours of Israel’s retreat, Hamas will release the remaining hostages. Israel will also return a multitude of imprisoned Palestinians, but it reportedly does not intend to release several prominent detainees, including Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouti
