We explore how telehealth makes ADHD treatment accessible without sacrificing quality of care. Breaking down state regulations and medication options, we discuss both stimulant and non-stimulant approaches to managing ADHD symptoms remotely.

• ADHD can absolutely be treated via telehealth, similar to anxiety and depression
• State regulations vary primarily around stimulant medications and required in-person visits
• Non-stimulant options like Wellbutrin and Strattera can be prescribed completely via telehealth
• Same assessment questionnaires used in-person can be completed through secure patient portals
• Holistic and alternative approaches to ADHD management are available beyond medication
• Our care philosophy centers on "your body, your rules" - supporting informed patient choices

nicole (00:31):
Hi everyone, welcome today to Tattoos and Telehealth
with me, Nicole Baldwin andKelli White, and we're both
board-certified nursepractitioners and this is our
podcast for today.
We're going to talk about ADHDand telehealth.
We're going to get into alittle bit of details.
It's going to be a quick, quickpodcast, something you can

(00:52):
listen to quick.
Just be mindful this does notconstitute a patient-provider
relationship and this is not tobe construed as medical advice.
We're just two girls justtalking and you're happy to
listen.
So, Kelli, if you want to getstarted on ADHD and telehealth
and it's definitely somethingthat has a lot of intricacies to
it and very state by state soI'll let you take it Absolutely

(01:17):
so.

kelli (01:17):
One of the things I wanted to be sure that our
listeners understood is that youabsolutely can access services
to telehealth for ADHD.
It's not something you have tobe seen for in person.
It's just as if you were herefor a mental health exam.
If you guys are following us,you've heard us talk about being
seen for anxiety, depression,et cetera.
You can be seen viatelemedicine for ADHD.

(01:38):
Seen for anxiety, depression,et cetera.
You can be seen viatelemedicine for ADHD.
The big differences that you'regoing to see is whether or not
you take a stimulant medication.
That's where the lines are kindof drawn in the sand about
whether or not you have to beseen in person and when you need
to be seen in person.
Several states again check withyour state.
Find out what your regulationsare.
Your providers are going toknow this state to state whether

(02:01):
they're licensed there.
They know what the regulationsare, but I even have some
colleagues that work viatelemedicine that prescribe
stimulant medication and theyknow what the regulations are
like.
Maybe you have to see yourprovider in person once every
six months or once every threemonths or once every 30 days or
whatever, but you can still beseen via telemedicine.
That's not.
You know, that's not somethingthat you have to worry about,

(02:23):
but there are alternatives tostimulant medication.
Nicole, I know that we'vechatted about this.
You have prescribednon-stimulant medication for
ADHD patients via telemedicine,right?

nicole (02:34):
Correct.
Correct For mild ADHD.
I'll do Welbuterin um butstratera is another option um
adamoxetine um.
Patients do very, very well onthat.
It's easier to get because it'snot a stimulant, it's not
controlled um and so patientshave been, have been doing
pretty well and responding wellto that and they it doesn't come
with the side effects of thestimulant.

(02:54):
So it's been, it's been prettygood and we've chatted about uh,
repurpose.

kelli (02:59):
So there's other medications you can take that
help with ADHD, and then there'salso some other alternatives
that you can try.
And also, don't be afraid toseek alternative options for
your ADHD guys.
There is so much out there andthere are ways that you can
treat your ADHD from a holisticstandpoint.

(03:21):
You know, Nicole and I, we havethis.
We have this rule, your body, your rules.
You come to us, we're going togive you the facts, we're going
to talk to you about what youroptions are and we're going to
support you in your decisions.
You know, this is your body, these are your rules and if it
won't hurt you, we are happy tosupport you in your journey and
whatever you decide to do.
And so we just wanted to pop onhere, make sure you guys

(03:42):
understood that ADHD does nothave to be seen in person.
The questionnaires that youwould fill out in person, we can
flip that to you through theportal, through a patient portal
that we have you sign up for.
You fill out the samequestionnaire, we evaluate the
same questionnaire.
We're going to chat with youno-transcript.

nicole (04:22):
To help you, we you can establish a patient provider
relationship at Hamiltontelehealthcom.
You can find Kelli and I boththere and let us know if you
have any questions.
We'll certainly be happy toassist anyone out there or just
answer any questions.

kelli (04:37):
