Kelli (00:17):
Hey guys, welcome back to
another episode of Tattoos and
Telehealth.
I'm Kelli White, BoardCertified Female Nurse
Practitioner.
And this is my great friend, colleague, and partner, Nicole
Baldwin, also a board-certifiedfamily nurse practitioner.
And today we have someinformation about really kind of
taking it back to the basics.
And we're just going to talkabout what it means to have a
telehealth visit and how you gothrough that process.
(00:39):
But before we get started, please understand that listening
to this podcast, eveninteracting with us, does not uh
constitute a patient providerrelationship.
We're just going to be chattingit up and giving you some info
if you want to use it.
Also, our attorneys make us saythat oh, not medical advice.
This does not constitutemedical advice in any way, form,
or fashion.
We always encourage you tofollow up with your primary
(01:00):
provider and make sure that ifyou have any questions to check
with your primary providerbefore you practice anything
that we discuss here.
So, Nicole, we have had um apretty good response from
patients, even some new patientsthat are new to telehealth,
which is exciting because I feellike in today's day and age
that telehealth is old hat, butI forget that um it's actually
(01:21):
still pretty new to some peopleand they don't really know, you
know, what to do.
Like what's the gig?
What how do I do this?
You know, what do I do?
Where do I go?
And so our website is reallypretty nice.
You click on it, and when onceit pulls up, it just says get
care now.
And you literally just clickthe button to get care now.
But what happens after that?
Nicole (01:40):
If you go on our website
into uh hamiltontelehealth.com
and you click on get care now,it's gonna ask you very basic
information, name, phone number, date of birth, email.
And then it goes right to ourclinical staff.
It's all through HIPAAcompliance.
So you don't have to worryabout, you know, nothing gets
shared, everything'severything's secure.
And then one of our medicalstaff, they reach out and we
(02:00):
figure out how we can help you, whether it's acute sickness,
whether it's a medicationrefill, whether it's, hey, I
don't, I've never done thistelehealth before, but how can
I, how can I get started?
So we do get messages, patientswho have never done telehealth
before, and they're like, youknow, I I kind of just I don't
really know what to do with it.
So here's one of the ones wegot today.
It says, it was a voicemail andit says, Hi, my name is you
(02:24):
know, Jane Doe.
I just came across your profilewhen I was looking to make an
appointment with my regulardoctor, never done telehealth,
but it sounds amazing.
And I'm pretty sure this issomething that I could use in my
life.
I will go to your website andattempt to sign in, but I am
technically challenged.
So if you don't see anythingfrom me come through, here's my
phone number.
Please give me a call.
(02:45):
And that's exactly that wasperfect because you know, we get
these and we have no problemcalling you and walking you
through it.
We have a patient liaison thatis part of our medical team, and
she will call you and walk youthrough how to do it and how to
it is super simple.
(03:05):
Once you sign up, it's it'ssuper simple.
If you use apps on your phone, then you can do it.
In the states that require it,you know, we we can do a video
visit.
I send you a link.
In the states that don'trequire it, which is most of
them, we can stay via chat.
You can request a phone call.
I don't I don't charge extrafor those.
We just we know we don't.
We we love to connect with ourpatients, and so we don't charge
(03:25):
extra for patients who uh wanta video or a or a phone visit.
But just jump in, just go tothe website
hamiltontelehealth.com.
There's a button, get care now.
Just click it, see whathappens.
You can't set it up.
Kelli (03:38):
You need telehealth in
your life.
I'm gonna agree with her.
You need telehealth in yourlife because it's just so
simple.
It really is.
So we say, like, we'll chatback with you.
It's just a text message, guys.
It's like if you're textingyour friend, it's just a text
message.
It's super simple, it's notcomplicated.
We're not gonna like give youthese crazy things that you have
to do and go here, go there, and everywhere.
It's just a text message.
(03:58):
Yeah, it's just a text message,yep.
Nicole (04:00):
And we can also message
you through through the app.
Like if you were to go on tomessage through Facebook
Messenger or Snapchat orwhatever, we can message you
right through the portal aswell, just because you know, we
want to make sure it's you know, however is is most convenient
for you.
But we have an app, right?
It's it's just it's calledHamilton Health and Wellness.
It's a it's an app, but but wehelp you through that.
We help you download, you know, walk you, walk you through
(04:23):
those steps.
And we don't take insurance, but what we do do is we only
charge you per consultation.
So uh we charge $89 perconsultation.
So if you're sick and you'regonna go to the urgent care, if
your copay is $150 for urgentcare and you leave with an
inhaler and a prescription, itwould be much cheaper.
(04:45):
I mean, unless you have, youknow, trouble breathing,
shortness of breath, things likethat.
That's um that's not not atelehealth thing.
But if it's something where Ihave a UTI, I you know, I I know
what a UTI is.
I I've had them, you know, youand I just need a medication.
You know, we ask you a fewquestions, a few safety
questions, just to make surenothing's emergent.
And then, you know, we takecare of you and send you on your
(05:07):
way.
So it is a lot cheaper in most,in most cases, certainly
cheaper than than urgent care.
And we only charge you when youneed us.
So if you don't need us nextmonth, there's there's no
subscription fee.
I I just I just never felt okaywith charging people for
something that maybe they didn'tneed that month.
You know, I I just I justdon't.
I just I don't know why.
Some some companies do it andmore power to them.
(05:29):
There's reasons why they do it.
I get that.
Kelli (05:32):
And we can still use your
insurance for the prescription,
right?
Oh yeah, absolutely.
We can still go use theirinsurance for the like if we
order labs, you can use yourinsurance for that.
If we order a prescription, youcan use your insurance for
that.
And guys, we we can still orderlabs on you in that visit.
Like we're full providers, weare board certified nurse
practitioners.
Just because you saw us viatelehealth, that doesn't limit
the scope of what we can do.
We can refer you, we can orderlabs, we can send prescriptions,
(05:54):
we can do all the thingsanybody else can do.
So don't think that that limitsour scope of what we're allowed
to do.
We can still do those thingsfor you.
Nicole (06:01):
Absolutely.
We have patients come in thatsay, Hey, I can't get into my
primary care doctor for anothertwo months.
My blood pressure's beenrunning high.
Can you help me?
Yes.
Yes, okay.
Tell me what the recent bloodpressures are reading.
Tell me what you're currentlyon, and let's see what we can
do.
You know, we can be a bridgecare, right?
A go in between.
Primary care doctors arestretched so thin.
(06:23):
The expectations that they haveis so high that, you know, they
can't spend more than 10minutes with a patient, which,
you know, that's that's justit's just the way medicine is,
unfortunately, in America.
And it's it's terrible, butnonetheless.
But you know, if you needsomebody to help you with that
in-between stuff, we canabsolutely do that.
And yes, Kelly, you patientscan use you can use your
(06:45):
insurance for labs, formedications, for all those
things.
There's value in it because wecan also provide a worknote as
well, right?
If you're sick, we can, youknow, we can we can provide a
worknote, and that's that's allincluded, right?
That's that's all included inthe in the consultation.
So $89 and can we can get youeverything you need.
And, you know, for a lot of theworld, there's something to say
(07:06):
about convenience, right?
There's something to say aboutconvenience.
And, you know, especially foryou know, moms and dads who
have, you know, a couple kids, dragging them to the to the, you
know, the pediatrician or to tothe doctor with them because
they're the ones that are sick,it's a task, you know, and
there's there's just somethingto say for convenience.
And and that's really we wantto provide quality care.
(07:27):
We want it to be convenient foryou.
And sometimes we see patientsor we're chatting with patients
and they're in their bed, andthat's completely okay.
That's completely okay.
That's we're we're here for it.
So if you've never donetelehealth, just go to the
website, click the button, getcare now, hamilton
telehealth.com.
It's super, super simple.
If you if you mess it up andyou can't, but if you do, we'll
(07:49):
reach out to you, we'll let youknow, we'll say, hey, you know,
whatever, you know, we'll helpyou download whatever you need
if you if you need it, and ifyou just all the things, we'll
do we will help you.
We have someone that is onevery day just to help patients
get set up.
And it's hard, it's not hard.
Kelli (08:07):
Oh, and even if you are
super sick and you're like
laying in bed and you pull upthe website and you're like, I
don't even have the energy toclick on this button and fill
this format, just call the 800number, just call the number.
Like, like Nicole said, we havea patient liaison, we have a
nurse on the other end, theywill walk you through it and
they will help fill that formatfor you.
If you are sick as a dog in bedand you just can't fill that
out, just pick up the phone andmake a call.
(08:28):
Like we have our patientliaison will help walk you
through that process.
We'll get you feeling betterand take care of the rest, you
know, when you when you arefeeling better.
And so it's just, you know, like Nicole said, like,
especially right now, like we'recoming up on flu, cold and flu
season.
And I, you know, I think Istress about those moms or dads
that are stay-at-home dads thathave children and they've got
one sick kid and they know theytake that one sick kid to the PD
(08:51):
office with the three otherkids, they're all gonna get sick
because they're in an officefull of sick people.
And so telehealth bridges that, you know, we can take care of
the one sick kid or the one sickparent and not get the rest of
the family sick.
Um, and it's just it justbridges that gap.
It helps people be able to one,not leave work because you you
don't have time to take time offwork to get something done.
(09:11):
You don't have time to taketime off to, you know, go here,
go there, go to the provider, goto walk in.
Like, you know, if you ifyou've got a UTI, you're
working, you know you have aUTI, or you know you've got a
cold, or you know something'snot right, but you physically
can't leave work to go to urgentcare and get that taken care
of, or call your PCP and get into get that taken care of.
You can call us and we'll getthat taken care of.
(09:31):
We'll get a prescription calledin for you.
So you're not having to takethat time.
Nicole (09:35):
Yeah, there's definitely
something to say about
convenience, and and we aredefinitely here for it.
And we're here for when youneed us.
And when you're not, then hey, then that's okay.
We will we'll stand by.
So it's it's very, very simple.
We make it very simple.
And if you and if you aretechnically challenged, that's
okay.
We will help you through thattoo.
(09:56):
So you're not the only one.
So um I feel technicallychallenged.
unknown (10:01):
Yeah.
Nicole (10:01):
So you can even go on
and just to get set up in case
you need us, you know,HamiltonTelehealth.com, get care
now, fill out the basicinformation, you can say, hey,
I'm just getting established.
Okay, fine.
No big deal.
Kelli (10:13):
Now you're in the system
and you'll we'll be there if you
need us.
Nicole (10:16):
Yeah, for sure.
If you want to come by, we willbe at an Ocala event.
We have a healthcare coming up,don't we?
We do.
We have the health expo comingup, and that is on October 18th,
and we'll be there from 10 to3.
So if you're if you're inFlorida in the Ocala area on
October uh 18th on a Saturday,2025, come by and see us.
We will be uh at one of thefirst booths there.
(10:38):
It'll be me and Kelli and acouple of couple of our our
staff will be there.
We just are just excited tomeet some of our patients and to
uh help anyone out who just youknow is out there and just
needs just needs some care.
Maybe you're in a rural area, maybe you don't have an
established primary care.
And so we're here for it.
Kelli (10:58):
Definitely.
