Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey guys, welcome
back to another episode of
Tattoos and Telehealth.
This is my great colleague, nicole Baldwin, and I'm Kelly
White.
We're going to chat with youguys today about some
interesting stuff regardingweight loss.
But before we do that, ourlawyers make us say that this is
just a chat with a couple ofgals.
This meeting, this conversation, does not constitute medical
(00:20):
advice and this also does notconstitute a patient provider
relationship.
So today we are going to talkabout some different ways that
you can supplement what you'redoing for weight loss, and by
supplement I mean other stuffbesides what you see with the
branded injections.
We can't say the brandedinjections names, and that's
(00:41):
okay, but I want Nicole to chatwith us because she is our
weight loss expert.
She's the gal, she's the go-toyou have weight loss questions.
She's your girl.
So what in the world are Mikeinjections?
Is it Mike, mick?
What is it M I C?
What are these injections?
What does it mean for ourpatients?
Can they take them every day?
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Can they have it.
It's the Mick drop for ourpatients.
Can they take them every day?
It's the Mic Drop, micinjections, mic.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
Drop the Mic, drop
mic injections.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
I love it.
Shots fired, shots fired.
The wellness edition I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
So tell us about
these injections, because I have
patients that ask about it.
I'm the functional medicinegirl, nick.
You're the weight loss girl.
What are, what are Mcinjections?
What do they do?
What's all the hype?
Why do people want them?
Pros, cons, goods, bads, what.
What is this so?
Speaker 2 (01:33):
boosting your burn.
Really there are.
It is a.
Some people call them theMcBurn the McBurn injection,
because they help you burn.
Yeah.
So if you ever feel like yourmetabolism needs a jumpstart,
like you're doing all the rightthings but the scale just won't
budge or your, your energy islagging.
So today we're going to diveinto the Mick injections, what
they are, who they help and whatyou need to know.
(01:56):
So Mick stands for methioninethat I say I cannot get that out
.
Methionine, you got it.
Methionine, and that is anessential amino acid that helps
the liver process, um, fat.
And then a no, so tall, thataids in fat metabolism and also
may support mood regulation, um,and then the C stands for
(02:17):
choline, which supports liverfunction and fat transport out
of the liver.
So that's what mix stands for.
But what do they do?
So what is?
What does all that mean?
So make injections actuallysupport the fat breakdown and
your metabolism, to give youthat boost, and with that they
enhance the energy, give youmental focus, mental clarity.
(02:37):
A lot of patients love it forthat, for that reason alone, and
it's often used in weightmanagement programs.
And that's because you havemore energy, so you're busier,
so it does the mood balance.
And frequent add-ins to that isB12.
And B12 is also used for energy, mood, red blood cell support,
(02:59):
things like that.
But so the common add-ons thatare with the MYick injections is
the b12, which is what makes itpink, if you have a pink one,
um, and then sometimes it'spaired with um l-carnitine,
which is added for additionalfat burning potential, and so
those are the two common thingsthat are added with it, but they
(03:20):
are great for um, mostlyeveryone.
See, the b12 is a water-solublevitamin, and so you know some
people that will run their B12level like my B12 is really high
.
Whatever you don't use, you'regoing to pee out.
So you know it's.
It's a relatively safe for mostpatients injection with these
(03:41):
amino acids with the combo thatit has.
So it's a nice little cocktailto help with.
You know, energy, mood, metabolism, all those things
that most of us struggle with.
So patients who might benefitare those that are in a
supervised weight loss program, individuals that suffer with
(04:03):
fatigue or just a slowmetabolism, especially, uh,
perimenopausal women, um,menopausal women, um, and then
just your everyday normal personmight suffer with fatigue, um,
for whatever reason, right, um,and then also for patients who
suffer with um, non-alcoholicfatty liver disease.
(04:23):
Because it helps transport thefat out of the liver, it can
actually reduce excuse me,reduce the fatty liver.
So patients with non-alcoholicfatty liver disease can really
really benefit from this, and insome cases PCOS or metabolic
syndrome can be helped with thisas well.
(04:43):
It can certainly help withthose, and that is something
that is becoming more widelyrecognized is the treatment for
that with the PCOS.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
So is it safe to take
if you are in a normal BMI
range, like, let's say, you'renot overweight but you have
non-alcoholic fatty liverdisease or you have a?
You know you're perimenopausal, you're having these fatigue,
this fatigue and it thisoverwhelming.
I can't get enough sleep.
Is it safe to take if you're inthat normal weight range?
Speaker 2 (05:08):
Certainly, certainly,
certainly, absolutely it's,
it's.
It's safe for anyone with anyBMI to take.
In most cases it's.
It's generally very welltolerated.
Allergic reactions are possiblebut they're very rare.
You, you know, and it's.
It's not a magic bullet.
It's not just used for weightloss, it's used as a weight
(05:28):
assistance.
It's not going to you're notgoing to take this and you know
the pounds are going to melt off.
You know this is somethingthat's used in conjunction with,
you know, diet, exercise.
If your Just any kind of brainfog, any kind of clarity that
(05:51):
you need mental focus, you cantake it for other reasons other
than weight loss and notnecessarily have to even focus
on the weight factor of it atall.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
I love that mental
component, that brain fog, that
mental fatigue, because so manyof us, especially professionals
nowadays, man, we just burn thecandle at both ends.
This these make injectionssound like they have a much
broader purpose than what we'reusing them for, even yeah,
absolutely.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
I think patients just
think of it as, oh, I've gained
some weight or I need to, youknow, get a quick boost of
energy.
But it really goes.
It really goes beyond that.
I mean, it's not a magic bullet, right.
If you're trying to lose weight, it works best with proper diet
and exercise and you know, whether you intermittent fast or
whatever, whatever type, itcertainly can be used for that.
(06:41):
But you know it's it can beused for different things.
Just with the mental clarity, Imean that's a great thing.
There's so many things going on.
Now we all have alarm fatigue, fatigue, right, we get a message
for this and an alarm for thatand a ding for this and a.
You know, there, it's not justin the medical field anymore
where we have alarm fatigue.
Right, there's so many alarms,um, but it's actually just.
(07:02):
You know, alarm fatigue is more, it's more.
Everybody seems to be gettingthat right.
You hear, we hear all thesedings and honks and beeps and
it's just like, oh, my gosh, gosh, like, I just give me some,
just let's just, I need someclarity with my brain.
So, um, but you know, it's notrecommended in pregnancy for
those who are planning to becomepregnant, pregnant or
breastfeeding, of course not Um,or, and it's also not
(07:26):
recommended for patients withcertain liver and kidney
conditions without theirspecific provider clearance.
So those are things those aredefinitely hard nose.
And there's other hard nosebased on, you know, every
patient's different right.
It's, you know, not everybodywe can just put in a box and say
it's safe for everyone if, likeyou know, everybody has their
different, everybody's body'sdifferent right.
(07:46):
Everybody has their ownfingerprint and so you always
want to check with your providerto make sure that it's safe for
you.
But generally it is pretty good, pretty well tolerated, and
they're only given one to twotimes weekly.
Right, there's a subcommitteein Jackson, so it's given one to
two times weekly and that canbe customized based on your
needs, you know, and these areoften used in short-term cycles.
(08:08):
But what we're realizing isthat they can be continued for
maintenance.
You know they can be, you know, given um.
You know bi-weekly they can begiven, you know it's.
You know it can be tailored towhatever the patient needs.
You know whatever the patientneeds at that time.
So that's really nice, is that?
What we're learning is there'sa big flexibility on it, right,
(08:30):
um, it's not just used anymorewhen there is some sort of
deficiency, you know like a,like a beach ball deficiency, or
or you know some other vitaminthat's that the patient's
struggling with, or some kind ofmetabolism that the patient's
struggling.
It can actually just be forcontinued maintenance, for those
things.
So it can be given in several, several different, different
(08:51):
ways and cadence.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
And these work well
in conjunction with peptide
therapy, like patients that areusing NAD supplements,
glutathione, nac, things likethat, like in functional
medicine.
I see a lot of patients thatare in that wellness mode right,
like they're trying to be fitand they're working out and
they're supplementing with aminoacids and peptides and this
works really well in conjunctionwith in conjunction with those
things too, right?
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Absolutely,
absolutely.
And peptides are the new thing, and I'm so glad that we have
now just started offering thembecause, um, they.
There is such a push now aboutjust taking care of yourself,
taking taking responsibility foryour own health, right, just
taking care of yourself, takingtaking responsibility for your
own health, right?
You know, it's always good tobe able to rely on on on a
(09:41):
provider, on your provider, butno provider has just one patient
that they have to focus on,right?
We are, truth be told, we areall.
I mean you and I, we have all,we have our own practice.
So, right, so so we can saywe're not accepting any more
patients, if you know, if we, ifwe need to.
But a lot of times, patientproviders can't say that, and so
they have hundreds andthousands of patients, and so
(10:02):
it's easy to the only personthat can really be in charge of
your health is you.
And so now patients can orderlabs on their own.
They can go to Quest or LabCorpand they can order labs on
their own.
They don't even need a providerorder for that.
And so there's more and morethings that are becoming
available for patients to beable to do on their own and take
charge of their health, andthat's really the way that the
(10:23):
world is going.
Is that patients really want tosay, look, I want to take care
of myself in the most naturalway, in the best holistic way,
if you will, and that's whyfunctional medicine I mean your
specialty in functional medicinehas just been amazing, um, it's
, it's just been amazing, but,um, that's, that's just the way
the world's going.
(10:44):
So, take charge of your health.
Reach out um see if you're agood candidate for this.
You know, um, while anyonetaking a McInjection, you always
want to stay well hydrated, um,and that our organs always
function best when we're wellhydrated, regardless.
So, whether you want to make ornot, hey, staying hydrated is
huge, um, because even hydrationcan affect fatigue.
(11:04):
It can affect mental clarity,um, headaches, things like that,
even if you just don't, youknow, you just don't even
realize it, um.
So staying hydrated is superimportant, whether you want to
make or not.
But be consistent.
You know results build overtime.
Um, make injections also do verywell with protein rich meals,
um, and also with, with, with, with movement, you know, get
(11:25):
your metabolism going when yougo for, you know, uh, a brisk
walk, get that heart pumping, get those things you know, get
things moving, um, and so themake injections, um, with the
ingredients and these, it reallyjust helps to just really boost
that.
You know a brisk walk is, youknow it's some like when you
pair them.
It's like two plus two is five, right, because you're pairing
(11:47):
two separate things that havethis symbiotic relationship.
And when you go for that briskwalk, it's like, you know, extra
, you're getting extra benefitfrom it, right, because you're
pairing it with with the mickinjection and with those, those
ingredients that your bodyalready makes.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Uh and so super,
super holistic, um for women
that have chronic migraines, lowB12 increases your frequency of
having these headaches, so ifyou're like me, I suffer from
chronic migraines.
Low vitamin B12 levels increasethe frequency of migraines, so
this could be something thatwomen that have chronic
migraines could even try.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
Yeah, absolutely
Absolutely.
It would be worth a try, because, you know, sometimes
patients have hormonal migraines, cluster headaches, tension
headaches, all kinds, all kindsof you know a lot of some
patients, especially as theirhormones start to change in
their thirties, these migrainesget get more persistent, and so
they want to try differentthings.
(12:44):
And it's it's, it's just, it'sworth a try.
It's super simple, um, andsomething that's really not hard
to obtain.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
So um, we get that
from compounding pharmacies
online.
You guys can come see us viatelehealth, um a quick visit
with myself or Nicole and weordered that compounding
pharmacy.
Guys, it comes to your door,it's refrigerated, you got
everything comes in.
You comes to you quickly likeit's very easy to obtain.
You don't have to go to thepharmacy, you don't pick it up,
(13:11):
we're going to get it shipped toyou.
Very simple process.
Telehealth is amazing.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
It is, it is, it is.
It is absolutely amazing andand you know we've, um, it's
really been a big push forpatients because it's easy, it's
from your house, it's, it's youknow we're, we're board
certified.
This is, this is what we, thisis what we do.
Um, you know, we've doneseveral, several years and and
even even decades of ofin-person care and we can reach
(13:38):
more patients this way than wecould ever reach in an office,
and so, and we also reachpatients in rural areas who
wouldn't otherwise have accessto care.
If you're in a rural area andyou don't have, um, this type of
provider, that will help youwith these.
You know, with these thesethings, that maybe we're here.
So you always want to reportany unusual symptoms rash,
(14:00):
dizziness, gi, upset althoughit's rare, it certainly can
happen.
When you get in the car, youalways wear your seatbelt just
in case.
So we want to make sure thatyou know that you always want to
report any, any abnormal sideeffects or anything that makes
you uncomfortable.
And then I think that's it.
I just, you know, makeinjections can be a powerful
tool in your health journey.
Certainly can, but they shinebrightest when paired with good
(14:22):
habits and with a providersupport, and just ask your
provider.
If this is a good thing and itmight be right for you, your
primary care provider may bewilling to send it for you.
You know, it's not aboutshortcuts, it's about support.
So we are here for you.
We can certainly help, certainly help you with that, um
.
You can find us at Hamiltontelehealthcom Um, just click,
(14:45):
get started and we will be happyto help you.
Um, if your state allows it, wecan do everything via chat, um,
and so, you know, depends onthe state requirements, but, um,
we're happy to see you too overthe.
We'll call you, we'll do avideo if you prefer.
(15:05):
You know, some patients justwant to want to see our, see our
face and see that we're on theother end, and that's okay too.
So, but B12, I'm sorry, b?
Um make injections combinedwith B12 or L-clarinatine, um,
sometimes even glutathione now,um and so things are evolving in
this holistic, functional way,um, and we're here for it.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
So yeah, for sure,
guys.
We hope that that helps clearup the mud a little bit when it
comes to McInjections, and, likeNicole said, we're here for you
