Living Without Regret by Steve Adams
Many years ago, I heard an interview with Jon Bon Jovi where he talked about going for his dreams and not looking back to say, “I should have done that”. I thought it was a powerful idea and wrote to my kids about living without regret.
I commented about how I worked to become an engineer, but achieved that and how finding that special wife was such a challenge, but found their mom. I wrote about how I would dream of meeting someone from another country and how that too became a reality and how I always wanted to create a business that I still enjoy today.
I wrapped up the letter by telling the kids that while I always wanted a family, the incredible luck we had in all of them was not something I DID, but something WE did together.
Today, I don’t look back and state, “I could have” or “I should have” or even “I would have”, but I am thankful that I took the opportunities to follow my heart because the joys of knowing “I DID that” are humbling. It’s MY life and it’s Now or Never.
