Alright, let's get started withtoday's episode.
(00:44):
Get ready to be inspired andempowered.
Today we are going to addressthe three common roadblocks that
often hinder teachers fromembarking on the side hustle
journey.
The first one is fear.
The second one is theuncertainty about what to do,
and the third is the process theprocess on starting a side
hustle and where to begin.
(01:05):
Fear can be a formidableopponent holding us back from
pursuing our passions.
As educators, we're used todiving into the unknown, guiding
our students to challengingsubjects, complex tasks and
other activities, but when itcomes to starting our own side
hustle or our own business.
(01:26):
Fear can sneak in, whisperingdoubts in our ears.
Remember, it's natural to feelafraid, but it shouldn't dictate
our actions.
The inspiration for my sidehustle came unexpectedly.
I had always dreamt of becomingan administrator, but I never
anticipated the sacrifices thatwould come with that role.
And to achieve my dream, Idedicated myself to study,
(01:50):
earning a master's degree andtaking on various leadership
roles and responsibilities atschool.
Simultaneously, I worked as aninstructional coach, providing
support to teachers.
My days were long andexhausting, and they only grew
longer once I finally becamethat administrator.
However, in that role, I foundmyself with hardly a moment to
(02:12):
embrace my true passion forteaching and helping students
thrive.
That's the whole reason why Ibecame a teacher.
Instead, my days were consumedby an endless list of tasks data
analysis, test planning, disciplinary matters you name it
.
Whatever surface, I had to takecare of it, and it became a
repetitive cycle that left mefeeling disillusioned, reluctant
(02:37):
to let go of the haunting fearfailure.
I held onto a dream withunwavering determination for
what felt like an eternity.
During that time, uncertaintytightly grits me, leading me to
think about every move withcareful contemplation.
It was exhausting and I oftenthought must I endure this
(02:58):
relentless discontent.
Despite the blood, sweat andtears that I poured into
becoming an administrator,pursuing this endeavor, I can't
help but wonder if others aretrapped by this same misery that
engulfed me at that time.
I found myself torn, desperately seeking solace.
(03:19):
Peace guided something, yet Iwas unable to find the support
or guidance that I was lookingfor.
So during the Christmas break, around that time, my future took
an unexpected turn, when I hada serendipitous encounter with
an influencer.
It all started with a randomstumble upon a Facebook Live
(03:42):
where this remarkable individualgenerously shared their writing
and blogging journey.
Their words resonated deeply, highlighting the power of giving
back to the community, andlittle did I know that fate had
something extraordinary in storefor me.
Fast forward to a workshop inMiami, and there I was face to
(04:04):
face with the very person whohad ignited a spark within me.
He showed that it was able tohappen, that this life could
actually happen.
It was a moment that marked thebeginning of a new year.
In newfound inspiration, withcourage in my heart, I set sail
(04:24):
into uncharted waters, unknownwaters, armed with skills and
determination to make a lastingimpact in this online world.
I had absolutely no clue whereto begin.
All the things becameoverwhelming, with countless
options to navigate.
But one thing I was certain ofI possessed skills and talents
(04:46):
that could be leveraged in thisworld my knack for planning
lessons and organizing schoolfunctions I've done plenty of
those turned out to be avaluable asset for an
entrepreneur.
Thinking on my feet, writingand teaching, writing and even
mediating all those abilitiesproved to be invaluable in this
(05:11):
space.
And, just like me, I'mconfident that you, too, possess
a unique skill set andexperiences that you've gained
from a multitude of tasks andactivities.
Embarking on a side hustle cantransform into a flourishing
business, showcasing how themost brilliant idea sprout from
the simplest needs.
(05:32):
It's a journey filled withendless possibilities that allow
you to harness your expertiseand passion.
There are so many possibilities, from virtually supporting
fellow online entrepreneurs, starting a blog where you offer
guidance and sharing insightgained through your own
experiences in teaching or otherhobbies, jumping into online
(05:55):
tutoring, empowering studentswith knowledge and helping them
reach their full potentialonline.
Starting a side hustle does notonly mean crafting and selling
educational materials onplatforms like teachers pay
teachers.
It can be so much more.
The options are as limitless asa teacher's unwavering patience
(06:16):
during a heated parent-teacherconference.
So now that you know you canuse your skills and talents to
start a side hustle.
How do you start?
I faced that same question.
Well, that question and manyothers what do I need to start?
How much time will it take tomanage a side hustle while also
(06:37):
teaching full time?
Do I need any special equipmentor materials from my side
hustle?
Oh, the questions never stopped.
I found myself faced with a tonof questions.
It was a bit overwhelming andslowed me down once again.
It was daunting facing all ofthose questions alone.
I managed to piecemeal help andsupport from researching and
(07:01):
buying this digital product oranother and watching countless
videos.
What I really needed wassomeone to keep me focused and
guided on this journey.
Well, this is where I come in.
Your side hustle should be anextension of your skills, not an
additional source of stress.
I've had the privilege ofspeaking to a group of teachers,
(07:23):
just like you, who aspire tokick start a side hustle this
year.
However, they are plagued withfear and uncertainty and unsure
of how to begin or what steps totake Same feelings I had when I
first started.
Yet they all share a commonlonging, a burning desire for
more in their lives.
(07:44):
They yearn to create financialoptions for themselves, breaking
free from the reliance on apotential raise that might be in
the works at a school districtthat still remains uncertain.
This is about taking control ofthe one thing you have power
over, both in the classroom andin your life, and that's
(08:05):
yourself.

varying abilities andachievement levels and classroom
curriculum that you had todifferentiate and adapt.
You had to analyze their data, manage the classroom, face
parent teacher conferences andgreat assignments.
(09:10):
Without the knowledge or aprocess on how to balance all of
these demands, it was lonelyfor me.
I vividly recall receiving acheck-in from an instructional
coach, from which I wasimmensely grateful.
