As a teacher on the cusp of completing my 28th lap around the academic track, I've collected a trove of stories—one for each vibrant year, each unique classroom. This episode is no ordinary reflection; it's a celebration of a journey adorned with the creativity and growth of students from their first letters to their first leaps into pre-adolescence. We waltz through the lively dynamics of our maker space and unravel the distinct charm each grade brings to the educational tapestry, from the wide-eyed wonder of kindergarten to the burgeoning independence of sixth grade.

Joining me in this auditory class picture are two of my fifth-grade standouts, Sienna and Allie. They step up to the mic with the ease of seasoned storytellers, sharing their candid takes on what lights up their school days—from the anticipation of field trips to the eureka moments in tackling tough subjects like math. As their teacher, I beam with pride, not just at their articulation but at their embodiment of 21st-century learners—eager, innovative, and unafraid to color outside the lines. Tune in for a heartfelt finale where we cast a hopeful gaze at the future, rooting for every student to find joy and unleash their boundless creativity throughout their educational voyage.

very special.
In my book.
I'm starting with kindergartenin the summer.

(00:55):
I started my career in firstgrade and each grade lends
itself well to just adding somuch to their academics, and I
always strive to give kids achance to be creative.
Hence we're in maker spaceright now.
Looking back, I remember myfirst grade classes.

want to talk to them about whatmakes fifth grade cool.
If they want to, they can shareabout how previous classes were

(02:06):
, allow them to be creative, what they look forward to in
their future.

about and whatever other twocents they want to share about
just why school is cool and whatmakes school fun.

What contributes to making fifth grade fun is the
teacher you have.
I know Mr Newton is an amazingteacher and he makes fifth grade
really fun.
Another thing that makes fifthgrade cool and fun is our field
trips.

previous grades have been, or,looking forward to your future,
what you look forward to.
So this is Miss Allie.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Hey guys.
So I think that school isreally fun because you can be
with your friends a lot.
And I know that some peopledon't love school a whole much
because you know it's kind ofhard to learn, but, trust me,
once you get the hang of it,it's actually a lot of fun to do
these things that were hard todo before.
I know with me that is math, because math is super hard for
me.
But once I learn how to do itit's a lot easier and I'm really

(03:30):
looking forward to futuregrades so that I can learn a bit
more and so that in the futureit's easier to do.
So yeah, that's my two cents.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Again.
You see, friends, howarticulate and how amazing my
classes and my two guests arefor today.
So in the last section, lastsegment of our show today, we'll
talk about what we do in class, what we've done, what we'd like
to do in the future, and justtalk about why students are just

(03:59):
so amazing.

Friends, we are back for ourfinal segment of why students
are amazing.
In the last segment you heardfrom two of my students and I

(04:19):
think you'd agree.
They're absolutely amazing, andI wanted to kind of end our
episode today really talkingabout the 21st century student.
I truly hope they get anopportunity to be creative,
whether it's in kindergarten orfirst or all the way up to sixth
grade and even junior high tohigh school.
There are so many greateducational technology programs

(04:43):
that really feed into students'love of learning.
I hope every student at schoolhas a chance to explore their
creativity and just see howschool can be so much fun.
I have been blessed with suchamazing students over the years.
I think back when I firststarted teaching kids how
important reading is and, astime has gone on, shown them how

(05:06):
important Dr Seuss is withliteracy, and now, as I enter my
techie age, it's really justshowing kids how amazing
learning is.
And with educational technology, friends, the sky is the limit.
So I hope you've enjoyedtoday's episode why students are
amazing, and I'm going to leaveyou with just give kids a

(05:27):
chance.
Give kids a chance to becreative, give kids a chance to
explore and, as I visited Appleabout four years ago, really
again allowed them to becreative.
Have a wonderful rest of yourday, friends, and we'll catch
