Sarah Baker (00:00):
Hey there, and welcome back to Tech Savvy 101:

(00:02):
AI Automation Made Simple.
I'm your host, Sarah Baker, yourtech savvy bestie, who's here to
help you simplify your business, embrace automation, and save
hours every week.
Today, we're diving into anotherAI in Action episode, and we're
focusing on something that'sbeen a complete game changer in
my own business, the differencebetween regular ChatGPT prompts

(00:23):
and custom GPTs, also known asAI assistants.
If you've been using ChatGPT,but feeling like you're spending
too much time tweaking andmassaging the results, this
episode is going to be an eyeopener for you.
We're going to do a side by sideshowdown in real time during
this episode, showing youexactly how a custom GPT stacks

(00:47):
up against a regular prompt.
You'll see the dramaticdifference in quality,
specificity, and time saving.
And trust me, when you see thedifference, you're gonna have
one of those, Why haven't I beenusing this sooner?
moments.
By the end of this episode, you'll understand exactly when
and why you should be using acustom GPT instead of regular

(01:08):
prompting inside ChatGPT.
This approach is a serious timesaver, cutting your content
creation time in half or morewhile actually improving your
results.
Let's get started.
Before we dive in, let's do aquick 30 second refresher.
A regular ChatGPT prompt is whenyou go to ChatGPT and type your

(01:30):
request from scratch.
Maybe you're creating the promptout of your own brain, or maybe
you're cutting and pasting itfrom somewhere else.
But either way, you're startingin a completely blank ChatGPT
chat.
You have to explain what youwant every single time.
A custom GPT, on the other hand,is like your own personal AI
assistant that has been pretrained with your specific

(01:53):
instructions, your brand voiceand your preferences.

Think of it like this (01:56):
a regular prompt is like giving directions
to a complete stranger, while acustom GPT is like giving
directions to your best friendwho has been to your house a
hundred times.
One needs all the details.
The other just needs to knowwhen to show up.
It just gets you.
You know that thing when you canlook at your best friend and you

(02:17):
can talk with a look across theroom and you know what the other
one is thinking, that's a customGPT.
One brain.
So if you want more backgroundon all things custom GPTs, check

out Episode#120 Custom GPTs 101: How AI Assistants Can Save You (02:29):
undefined
Hours Every Week.
I'm going to include a link inthe show notes, but in today's
episode, I'm going to be sharingmy screen to show you the exact
difference between theseapproaches.
And in our test case, we'regoing to be using something many
of you have asked about, whichis optimizing Pinterest content.

(02:51):
So now let's talk about why thismatters for your business.
Custom GPTs debuted on November6th, 2023.
As of November 2023, there were19,100 public GPTs in the GPT
store.
As of December 2024, there wereover 159,000 public GPTs, which

(03:12):
is an increase of 732% in justover a year.
That is a lot of businessesrecognizing the value of
personalized AI.
Sam Altman, who is the CEO ofOpenAI, put it perfectly when he
said"the future of AI isn't justin general models, it is in

(03:33):
personalizing AI assistants towork the way businesses need."
And honestly, that is alsoexactly what I have found in my
own business.
The number one frustration Ihear from my own clients and
students inside my courses aboutusing ChatGPT and all AI models
is it takes too much editing andback and forth to get the

(03:55):
results that they need.
And listen, I get it.
That's because general AIdoesn't know you, your style,
your workflow, or yourpreferences.
It's like hiring an assistantwho doesn't know anything about
your business and expecting themto nail it on day one.
And I talk about this all thetime.
If you've listened to myprevious episodes, you know that

(04:17):
I love to say, AI is yourintern, Chad.
If you don't bother to trainChad, you're always going to get
Basic, bleh, results from yourunpaid, untrained intern.
According to McKinsey andCompany, automating content
creation with AI savesbusinesses an average of 40% on

(04:38):
time spent per task.
But, here's the thing.
That number goes way up whenyou're using a custom GPT
instead of starting from scratchevery time.
So if you take the time to trainChad and teach him everything
about you and your business andyour brand, well,

(04:59):
congratulations, you've justcreated SuperChad, and you're
going to save way more than 40%on time spent per task.
All right, let's get to the funpart, our head to head test.
If you're listening to thisepisode, you can grab the link
to watch this episode on YouTubeat your convenience in the show
notes.
As you can see on my screen, Ihave ChatGPT pulled up.

(05:21):
Let's start with round one, theregular prompt.
I'm going to use a typicalprompt that any of us might use
with ChatGPT.
Here is what I'm doing.
First off, I want to note that Ido have the paid version of
ChatGPT.
The only difference here is thatI am able to attach documents.
So what I have done is I haveattached a transcript of one of
my past podcast episodes, andthen I'm going to add in this

(05:44):
prompt.
"Please act as a Pinterestexpert.
Create 10 Pinterest pin titles.
Suggest highly searchedPinterest keywords and write
three Pinterest optimizeddescriptions for my podcast
episode.
I'm attaching the transcript ofthat episode.
Please make sure the titles areattention grabbing and include
keywords that help with SEO forPinterest.

(06:06):
Please also include a CTA foreach description." I think
that's a pretty solid prompt.
Now let's see what regularChatGPT, with a prompt, comes up
with.
We're going to hit enter.
We've given it a pretty solidamount of detail with the
prompt, and also by providing itwith the entire transcript of
that episode.

(06:27):
So it's giving us 10 attentiongrabbing Pinterest titles, 7 AI
myths that are holding yourcontent back, number 3 will
shock you.
Think AI is too expensive?
Here's the truth about AI forcontent creation.
The biggest lies about AI andcontent creation.
Don't fall for these.
So it's given us 10 titles.

(06:48):
It's giving us highly searchedPinterest keywords for SEO, such
as AI content creation, AI forbloggers, AI tools for content
creators.
And it's come up with threePinterest optimized descriptions
with a call to action.
Think AI is too complicated, tooexpensive, or makes robotic

(07:09):
content.
Think again.
In this episode, we're bustingthe seven biggest AI myths,
stopping creators from using AIeffectively.
Learn how to use AI tostreamline your content creation
process and grow your brandwithout the overwhelm.
Tap to listen now.
It's not bad.
It's not exactly my voice, butfor Pinterest pin descriptions.

(07:32):
You can give or take.
So I've got 10 titles, somekeywords and three Pinterest
descriptions.
Not too shabby.
Now what we're going to do is Ihave my PiperBot, which is a
custom GPT that I have built.

(07:55):
Now, you can use it two ways, because I have built this to be
forward facing.
This is actually one of theresources inside of my AI
Evergreen Content Machine coursethat students inside the course
get access to.
So if you Click on let's pin.
It'll prompt you through how touse it.
It'll say, hey there, let's getstarted with your Pinterest pin.
Tell me what you're promoting.

(08:16):
It'll ask you some questions tostart, get started.
But again, because I want to dothis as an apples to apples
comparison, what I'm going to dois just upload the transcript
again.
So I'm going to upload thetranscript and say, please give
me keywords, pin titles, and pindescriptions for this podcast

(08:39):
episode, one of the thingsyou'll notice right away is that
you don't have to be as Lengthywith what you're asking because
with custom GPT's you've frontloaded What you're asking and
you've already given the customGPT a lot of information.
It already knows what to do Sowe're gonna hit enter.
Here's a fully optimizedPinterest strategy for your

(09:02):
podcast episode High rankingPinterest keywords.
These are optimized for searchvisibility AI content creation,
AI tools for business, contentcreation tips, small business
automation, and it's giving me20 Pinterest pin titles, because
inside of the bot, I have toldit I want 20 Pinterest titles,
and it's giving me a mix ofcuriosity driven, SEO friendly,

(09:24):
and list style formats, becauseagain, this is the type of pins
that I want.
So it's writing me all of thesepin titles.
Because that's the strategy thatI like, is to have a lot of pin
titles to mix and match both inthe actual pins themselves.
And when I'm pinning onPinterest, I like to have a lot
of pin titles.

(09:46):
Now it's giving me six engagingPinterest pin descriptions in
three different styles of pindescriptions.
SEO and engaging focuseddescriptions, curiosity driven
and value packed descriptions, and problem solution pain point
focused descriptions.
So as you can see, these arealready much more custom

(10:09):
tailored to the exact type ofcontent that I am looking for,
meaning I have moredescriptions, I have more
titles.
They are exactly the type ofcontent that I'm wanting when
I'm using Pinterest and thedescriptions alone are already
more nuanced.
Now I didn't answer thequestions.
Again, this is a forward facingpin, meaning it's not customized

(10:33):
to me, but if I had gone throughthe questions at the beginning
of the bot, where it says, first, tell me about what you're
promoting.
What is your business andcontent about?
Who is your ideal audience?
Busy moms, entrepreneurs, healthconscious professionals, and do
you have specific keywords you'dlike to target or would you like
me to suggest high rankingPinterest keywords for your
niche?
So if I had gone through andanswered those questions before

(10:53):
I just launched into asking itto provide me with the content
that I was asking for, thekeywords, the pin titles and the
pin descriptions, then Thedescriptions would even be more
tailored to me and my niche.
Meaning that they would be evenmore geared toward who I want

(11:14):
finding my pins.
So, even taking that extraminute or two to answer those
questions at the beginning wouldmean that my content would be
even more tailored.
And the difference here isbecause again, I've created this
specific bot to be a resourcefor students inside my course,
so I've created it for manypeople to use, but I also have

(11:37):
another bot that is just for meto use, so I have trained that
bot on my brand voice, and inthat case I get even more custom
results because it is a uniqueto me bot.
When we compare the results fromthe custom GPT versus the
prompt, we can already see thatwe've gotten over double the

(11:59):
content from the custom GPT,because that was what the custom
GPT was trained to do.
Additionally, looking at the pindescriptions, we've gotten much
more tailored descriptions inthree different styles, the SEO
and engagement focus, thecuriosity driven, because that
is what the custom GPT wastrained to do.

(12:22):
This is just a snippet of whatthe custom GPTs are able to do.
You just need to tell it on thefront end once what you want.
Now if you had a more complextask, more complex than writing
Pinterest descriptions, you cansee how long those prompts could

(12:43):
get.
And then if you don't get theideal output, you have to go
back and say, okay, change this, change that, add this, include
that.
And that eats up your time.
So let's break down the exactbenefits we're seeing with the
custom GPT.
First, there's the obvious timesavings.
Creating optimized Pinterestcontent can take up to 30 to 45

(13:04):
minutes of research and writingper blog post or podcast
episode.
With this custom GPT, it isliterally done in two to three
minutes.
For someone who posts regularlyon Pinterest, this could save
hours every week.
Second, there's the platformexpertise built right in.
The custom GPT knows exactlywhat works on Pinterest from

(13:26):
character count to keywordformats to the types of titles
that get clicked the most.
You don't need to be a Pinterestexpert yourself.
However, if you do havepinterest knowledge or knowledge
in whatever the GPT is about, you can build that in and add
that value to the GPT.
Third, there's consistencyacross your pins.

(13:48):
In this example that we'retalking about, the custom GPT
ensures all your Pinterestcontent follows the same high
performing format, which helpsbuild your brand presence on the
platform.
But if we were talking aboutsomething else, say, Email
marketing headlines for youremails and you had a formula, an

(14:08):
additional knowledge in reallyjuicy click worthy email
headlines.
You could take all thatknowledge out of your head and
build it in on the backend ofthe GPT so that you were
creating essentially a reallyjuicy email headline GPT, and
then just put in what your emailwas about and it could become a

(14:31):
juicy headline generator GPT.
And fourth, and this is huge, you get better results because
you're using optimized contentfrom the start.
According to a recent HubSpot AItrends report, 82% of businesses
using AI automation, reportincreased efficiency in content

(14:55):
creation and marketing, butwhat's even more impressive for
this specific bot that I'vecreated for our test case in
this episode is that properlyoptimized Pinterest pins can see
up to 30% higher engagementrates than generic ones.
So this type of stat whereyou're seeing higher engagement
and better results can translateacross the board for most custom

(15:19):
GPTs because you're giving thatcustom GPT all the knowledge
base that you have and you'reinputting it into the GPT on the
back end when you first createit versus when you're doing a
standard prompt you're much lesslikely to take the time and add
that knowledge every single timewhen you're prompting ChatGPT.

(15:43):
It's simply too time consuming.
You're not going to beconsistent with giving ChatGPT
all of that information everytime, meaning you're going to
have inconsistent results eachtime that you go into ChatGPT.
Now, let's talk about some otherreal life use cases where custom

(16:04):
GPTs absolutely shine inbusiness.
Content creation is the obviousone, right?
Blog posts, social captions, newsletters, YouTube scripts,
podcast outlines, reallyanything that you regularly
create that follows a similarformat is absolutely perfect for
a custom GPT.
Marketing materials are anotherbig one.

(16:26):
Generating ad copy, calls toaction, email sequences, landing
page content, because It allbecomes so much easier when your
AI already knows your offers andyour style.
Client communications alsobecome a huge time saver.
You can create custom GPTs forresponding to DMs, answering

(16:47):
frequently asked questions, andeven creating personalized
onboarding materials for newclients.
And don't forget about yourdreaded administrative tasks.
We're talking standard operatingprocedure or SOP generators,
meeting notes summaries, projectplanning, these are all perfect
for custom GPTs.

(17:08):
You can even make fun ones.
Remember my Buddy the Elf GPTthat I made over the holidays?
It planned an entire Elf on theShelf calendar so I didn't have
to rack my brain for creativeideas every night.
My kids thought I was a holidaygenius, but honestly, it was
just my buddy the elf GPT doingthe heavy lifting.

(17:30):
The key question to ask yourselfis: Where are you spending the
most time on repeatable tasks?
That is where you need a customGPT.
So let's wrap this up.
Today we've seen the massivedifference between using a
regular ChatGPT prompt versus acustom GPT tailored

(17:51):
specifically, in our test case, for Pinterest marketing and how
much time you can save and howmuch better the results are when
your AI assistant already knowsplatform-specific best
practices.
We also saw the clear qualityimprovement when your AI is
trained on exactly what worksfor a specific task.

(18:15):
The bottom line is, AIassistants aren't just for big
business, they're for anyentrepreneur who wants to work
smarter, not harder..
So if you're spending too muchtime rewriting, reformatting, or
prompting AI the same way overand over again, it's time for a

(18:35):
custom GPT! Now I know you mightbe thinking, but Sarah, building
a custom GPT sounds extremelycomplicated.
And that's exactly why I wouldlove to do it for you! So if you
want your own custom GPT, that'sperfectly tailored to your
business, head to the link inthe show notes to get started.

(18:55):
I'll build it for you, so youdon't have to figure out all the
technical details yourself.
Or if you're still on the fenceand you want to chat about how
this could work for yourspecific business, just email me
to chat about the details.
And there you have it, acomplete comparison of regular
ChatGPT prompts versus customGPTs for your Pinterest
marketing needs.

(19:16):
This approach is a game changerfor saving time, optimizing your
content quality, and creatingplatform optimized content
without needing to be an expertyourself.
Thanks so much for tuning in.

this episode for the full screenshare demonstration, where you
