Each tool in this series offersunique capabilities that might

(00:44):
be perfect for specific taskswithin your business.
By the end of this mini series, you'll have a complete AI
toolkit at your fingertips, andknow exactly which tool to use
for different situations.
In today's episode, we're divinginto Claude, an incredible AI
assistant that deserves way moreattention than it's been
getting.
According to a recent survey bythe Pew Research Center, 62% of

(01:07):
Americans are now familiar withChatGPT, but only about 18% have
actually used it or another AIchat bot.
When it comes to Claude, specifically, awareness is even
lower, but those who use itoften become strong advocates
for it, and that's what we'regonna change in today's episode.

(01:27):
By the end of this tutorial, you'll understand exactly what
Claude is, how it compares toChatGPT, and most importantly,
I'll show you in real time howto use its powerful features to
save time and create bettercontent for your business.
Let's dive in.
Let me start by sharing myscreen and showing you what
Claude looks like.

(01:47):
As you can see, I'm atclaude.ai, which is where you
can access Claude directly ifyou don't already have an
account.
Signing up is super simple.
You can use your email, yourGoogle account, or an Apple ID.
The basic version is completelyfree to use, with certain
limitations that we'll discusslater.
Now that I'm logged in, let'sexplore the interface.
As you can see, it's clean andvery intuitive.

(02:10):
If you've used ChatGPT, thesetup will feel familiar, but
with some key differences that Iwanna point out.
You'll see that if you hoverover the word Claude in the
upper left hand corner, yourchats will pop up.
This is your conversationhistory sidebar.
You can organize and name yourconversation.
You can see all of your pastchats and scroll down, and if

(02:30):
you hover over the words, it'llpop up and you can go back to
reference that previous chat.
You can organize and name yourconversations, which is super
helpful for keeping track ofdifferent projects.
You can also create folders forcontent ideas, research, and
client work.
At the bottom you'll see thatthere is a text box where you
can type in your prompts.
And then down here at the bottomyou can see this is where you

(02:53):
can access your accountinformation and your settings.
You can see that I currentlyhave the professional plan.
I use this a lot.
So when you click on your email, this is where you will find your
settings.
You can enter information suchas your profile, your
appearance, if you want to editany information such as personal

(03:14):
preferences that Claude shouldconsider in your responses, you
can turn off capabilities andyou can turn on feature
previews.
Claude just recently enabled thefeature of being able to search
the web, which is a game changerthat it previously did not have.
I'm very excited about this newfeature, but you do need to

(03:35):
enable it by toggling this onand the analysis tool, which you
also need to toggle on.
You can also connect your GoogleDrive if you want to be able to
upload documents for Claude tobe able to analyze.
This is really helpful if youhave large documents that you
want to add to Claude forcontent purposes, for example, I

(03:58):
upload things like my podcasttranscripts so that Claude can
help me to work on blog posts orif you want to upload
information about your business,so Claude can help understand
your brand voice.
You need to be able to uploadunless you wanna upload directly
from your desktop.
If you wanna be able to uploadfrom your Google Drive, you need

(04:19):
to connect your Google Drive andyou would do that here.
You can also connect yourGitHub.
So those are some of the otherthings.
You can also edit the appearanceby changing the font or the, you
can set it to light mode, darkmode, or match the system
depending on the time of day.
You can also log out of alldevices.

(04:40):
There is a very helpful mobileapp that I use frequently, and
for any reason, if you wanted todelete your account, you could
do that here or export all ofyour data.
And you can edit your billinginformation from the settings as
well.
One of the first things tounderstand about Claude is that
it comes in different versions.
Like I said, right now I amusing the paid plan.

(05:03):
I think it is one of the bestinvestments in my business that
I have made.
It is$20 per month.
I think it is absolutely worthit.
Claude 3.7 sonnet is a gamechanger.
The quality of the content thatI get out of Claude is
fantastic.
So if you upgrade to that, it isfantastic, and in my opinion,

(05:23):
definitely worth it, especiallyfor how much I use it on a daily
basis.
However, if you use the freeplan, you are also going to get
fantastic content.
The difference primarily betweenthe free plan and the paid plan
is you get higher usage, priority access, you get access
to some of the newer featuressooner.
And I find that based off of howmuch I use it, the higher usage

(05:48):
limits is very important for me.
One of the coolest things that Ifound is that Claude three Opus
scored an impressive 86.8% onthe MMLU, which is the massive
multitask language understandingbenchmark, which tests knowledge
across 57 subjects ranging frommath to law.
For comparison, the averagehuman college student scores

(06:10):
around 89.8%, which means Claudeis approaching human level
performance on these tests.
So let me show you how to starta new conversation and change
between Claude's versions.
When you're starting a new chat, all you're gonna do is enter in
the box, just like if you'reusing ChatGPT.
If you're already familiar withthat, you would enter your
prompt right here where it says, how can I help you today?

(06:32):
If you want to change theversion of Claude that you're
using, similar to ChatGPT, allyou have to do is click on where
it says Claude 3.7.
For me, it says 3.7 Sonnetbecause that's the version I'm
using.
And you can click and there's adropdown like with ChatGPT,
where you might be using 4.0 andyou can click on that dropdown

(06:52):
and select if you want to use.
o1 or regular ChatGPT, and youcan select and drop down.
It's exactly the same.
You can go to normal, which isbest for most use cases.
You can go to 3.5 Haiku, whichis fastest model for daily
tasks.
Or you can go to extended, whichis best for math and coding

(07:14):
challenges.
There are additional models.
Opus, Sonnet, which is as ofOctober 24.
You can choose which model isbest for the task that you are
asking Claude to do for you.
So that is just a dropdown righthere, and you ask it your task
and then choose which model isbest for you.
I typically stay in 3.7 Sonnet, and that one works really well

(07:37):
for me.
I tend to use Claude when I amworking on creative content.
Having it help me develop ideasfor this podcast, having it help
me write blog posts, having ithelp me with emails, content for
my website, anything that's avery, word heavy is where Claude

(07:58):
really excels.
In my opinion, it knows my brandvoice backwards and forwards,
and I feel like the content thatcomes out of Claude sounds the
most natural and requires theleast amount of back and forth
to really get content thatshines.
So for me, Claude is my go-tofor copywriting.

(08:21):
Obviously, as with everythingelse, I still put my own final
touch on it.
But when I get a rough draft outof Claude, I feel like it needs
less back and forth to tweak itand massage it and get it to
where I want it, and then Istill go in and put my final
human touch on it.
So that is really where Claudeshines.

(08:42):
Now let me show you one ofClaude's most powerful features,
document analysis.
This is something that reallysets it apart from other AI
tools.
As you can see here, I can clickthe upload button and add
documents to Claude foranalysis.
Let me show you how this workswith a real example.
You can either upload directlyfrom your desktop using the
paperclip, or you can uploaddirectly from GitHub or Google

(09:06):
Drive if you have connectedthose.
So I've already uploaded a PDFdocument here that I want Claude
to help me understand.
Watch how easily I can askClaude to analyze this document
for me.
This document handlingcapability is exceptional.
According to a benchmark studyby Arthur AI, Claude can
effectively process documents upto approximately 75,000 words,

(09:27):
which is substantially more thanother consumer AI assistance.
This makes it particularlyvaluable for analyzing lengthy
reports, research papers, oreven legal documents.
Now that the document isuploaded, I can ask Claude
specific questions about it.
I'm going to type in,"Can yousummarize the key findings from
this report and identify thethree most important trends

(09:48):
mentioned?" Claude is analyzing, reading, and giving me a
response based on the coursecreator Google Drive cheat sheet
document.
Here's a summary of the keyinformation and it has presented
all of the information in a veryeasy to read, formatted with
bullet points.

(10:09):
And I can now go back and askadditional questions if I want
to.
Claude has read through theentire document and extracted
exactly what I asked for.
This feature alone has saved mehours of reading and note
taking.
You can upload PDFs, worddocuments, text files, and more.
The free plan gives you fiveuploads per day.
The pro Plan increases thislimit.

(10:29):
A study by Forrester Researchfound that knowledge workers
spend an average of two and ahalf hours per day searching for
information.
Using AI tools like Claude fordocument analysis can
potentially reduce this time byover 60 to 70%, freeing up
significant time for highervalue tasks.

(10:51):
Let me show you another exampleof how you might use this for
your business.
Let's say you are working oncreating a presentation and you
want to use Claude to identifyif you have any gaps in your
presentation.
You could very easily using theGoogle Drive feature, upload the
work you have done so far andask Claude to analyze your own

work and say (11:15):
hey, Claude, am I missing any key features?
Explain what you're working onand have Claude analyze what
you've done so far, and say, amI missing anything?
I have done this many times andClaude has been extremely
helpful in helping me toidentify that I might be missing

(11:38):
a component here or there, alesson here, there in a course
I'm building.
Or even helping me to reorganizethe work I've done.
So it makes it flows better in amore logical order because
sometimes when you're in thethick of it, it's very hard to
see the forest through thetrees.
But having Claude analyze yourwork in a matter of minutes can

(12:04):
make everything so much clearer.
So that is another really, really great way to have an AI
tool like Claude just take animpartial look at what you've
been doing, and give you anoutsider's perspective.
So now we're gonna do aside-by-side comparison of

(12:25):
Claude and ChatGPT to see howthey handle the same prompts
differently.
I've got ChatGPT and Claudeside-by-side on my screen.
According to the Stanford HumanPreferences Benchmark released
in March, 2023, Claude threeOpus was rated as more helpful
than GPT-4 by human evaluatorsin 69.7% of cases and more

(12:49):
harmless, and 82.9% of cases.
So that is a significantdifference that reflects
anthropic, which is the parentof, for lack of a better word,
the creator of Claude's focus oncreating helpful and harmless
and honest ai.
So let's start with a contentcreation task.

(13:10):
I'm gonna ask both AI's to writean introduction paragraph for a
blog post about using automationto save time in a small
business.
Alright, here's what we've got.
In Claude, it came up with atitle.
Time saving automation for smallbusinesses work smarter, not
harder.

And the paragraph is (13:30):
In today's fast paced business environment,
small business owners often findthemselves juggling multiple
responsibilities with limitedresources.
Implementing automationstrategies can be a game
changer, allowing you to reclaimvaluable hours while maintaining
or even improving the quality ofyour operations.

(13:51):
From streamlining customercommunications to simplifying
inventory management, the rightautomation tools can transform
tedious manual tasks intoefficient digital workflows.
By identifying your most timeconsuming processes and
gradually introducing targetedautomation solutions, you'll
create space to focus on whattruly matters, growing your

(14:12):
business and serving yourcustomers.
Not bad.
Now, given that I gave it very, very few parameters, all I asked
was, please write anintroduction paragraph for a
blog post about using automationto save time in a small
business.
That was pretty good ChatGPTgave us: Ever feel like your
to-do list is breedingovernight?

(14:34):
You're not alone.
For small business owners, timeis the most valuable and limited
resource, and yet so much of itgets sucked up by repetitive
tasks that don't actually growthe business.
That's where automation stepsin, like your new favorite
employee, one that works 24 7,never needs coffee and doesn't
drop the ball.
In this post we're breaking downhow smart automation can help

(14:56):
you reclaim your time, reduceburnout, and finally focus on
the big picture stuff likeserving your clients, scaling
your income, or heck taking areal day off.
Also not bad.
In my opinion.
The ChatGPT one feels a littlebit more like it was written by
AI.
Now I'm going to start freshwith clean chats, and I'm going

(15:17):
to give it a new prompt ofsomething that requires a little
bit more analytical thinking.
I'm going to ask it to explainthe pros and cons of using email
marketing versus social mediafor a service based business.
All right, it has given us theresponses and right off the bat
what I've noticed is that theClaude responses are clear.

(15:43):
They've given us more detailincluding facts.
Claude has told us right off thebat, email Marketing Pros: email
marketing typically generatesbetter conversion rates than
social media with averageconversion rates of 15 to 22%
compared to social media's, 1%to 2%.
Better ROI Email marketingaverages.
$42 return for every$1 spent.

(16:06):
Scrolling down, it's given usbullet points.
Platform volatility, content,treadmill, less direct
conversion, and at the bottom isalso analyzed: best approach for
most service businesses.
A combined approach works best.
Use email marketing fornurturing leads and driving
conversions while leveragingsocial media for brand
awareness, community building, and top of funnel lead

(16:27):
generation.
It then asks us a question.
Would you like more specificinformation about implementation
strategies for either channel?
Whereas on ChatGPT, it's givenus more high level information.
a lot of the information is thesame from both ChatGPT and
Claude.
You own your list, higherconversion rates, personalized

(16:48):
and targeted.
However, on ChatGPT, it's notgiving us those facts.
It's at higher conversion rates.
For email.
Email consistently convertsbetter than social, but it
didn't give us those facts.
So again, we would have to goback to ChatGPT and ask, well,
if it's a higher conversionrate, what is the conversion

(17:08):
rate?
It said better analytics, openrates, click rates, conversions.
You actually get data that meanssomething, but it didn't tell us
what.
It did provide us with the sameanalysis.
Which one's better for a servicebase biz?
The answer, you need both.
You use them differently.
And then it asked us want helpmapping out your funnel from
scroll to scale?

(17:29):
So overall, it pretty much gavethe same answer.
I would just say in this case, that Claude just gave us a
little bit more, including thosefacts about what the conversion
rates are and what the ROI is.
But overall, they pretty muchgave us the same information.

(17:49):
Just may be a little bit morevague on ChatGPT.
You might have to go back andask it a little bit more detail.
I also have found lately thatChatGPT is just giving so many
emojis.
No matter how many times I goback I and say, please remove
the emojis.
So it's a little bit more, especially if you're copying and
pasting that information into adocument.

(18:12):
I'm having to go back a lot andsay, okay, chill on the emojis.
I like the formatting of Claudea lot more.
Both tools are definitelyimpressive and you can see that
they each have their ownstrengths.
In my experience, Claude oftenshines with more nuanced
reasoning, longer more detailedresponses, and better handling
of complex documents.

(18:33):
It's definitely morestraightforward acknowledgement
also of its own limitationswhile ChatGPT often excels at
more concise responses, certaintechnical tasks like coding, if
you're using that, and creativewriting in very specific styles.
It also has a broader ecosystemof plugins and extensions.

(18:54):
I've covered this when I talkedabout custom GPTs.
According to a comparativeanalysis by scale ai, while both
models perform very well acrossvarious tasks, Claude tends to
outperform on tasks requiringreally nuanced understanding of
complex instructions and reallydetailed reasoning.
While ChatGPT performs better oncoding tasks and adhering to

(19:17):
specific formattingrequirements.
So at the end of the day, havingboth tools in your arsenal gives
you more options depending onthe tasks at hand.
Now let's dive into some realworld use cases.
I'm going to share exactly how Iuse Claude in my own business
for various tasks.
A 2023 survey by Capterra foundthat businesses using AI for

(19:39):
content creation reported a 50%reduction in content production
time and a 37% decrease incontent creation costs.
These are significant numbersthat directly translate to the
bottom line Use Case#1 iscontent creation.
First, I provide context aboutmy business and audience.
Then I give specificinstructions about what I want.

(20:02):
For example, I might tell Claudethat I am creating content for
my AI Evergreen Content Machinecourse.
Claude would then create aseries of captions that match my
unique brand voice and targetspecific pain points for my
ideal customers.
Use Case#2 is for research andsummarization.
Now, I've already shown you howquickly Claude can read and

(20:26):
summarize documents.
You can use Claude to help withresearch.
I previously uploaded thatdocument and now I wanna extract
specific information.
I can ask Claude any number ofquestions about the documents
that I've uploaded, and then Ican have Claude help me to
analyze that information andapply it directly to the work

(20:48):
that I'm doing.
According to a study by theinformation overload research
group, the average knowledgeworker spends 25% of their time
managing information overload.
That sounds exhausting! Using AIto parse and summarize
information can significantlyreduce this burden.
Claude can pull needle in ahaystack information from

(21:11):
lengthy documents, saving youhours of reading and note taking
Use Case#3 is for contentrefinement.
I've already given you anexample of how I use this by
uploading all of the informationfor a project or course or
presentation that I'm working onand asking Claude to help me
refine my own work, for example,I'm currently in the process of

(21:36):
preparing to launch a coursethat will be launching this
fall, and I have used Claudemultiple times to help me
reorganize the lessons to makesure that they're in the optimal
order for my students and tohelp me figure out if I have any
knowledge gaps within thecourse.
It has been extremely helpful inmaking sure that I have every

(22:01):
piece of information that needsto be in the course and not
anything extra because it'simportant that my students can
make sure that they make itthrough the course in the least
amount of time possible.
I'm not here to be wastingpeople's time with unnecessary
fluff, so I want to make surethat I have the most efficient

(22:22):
and streamlined course possiblewithout forgetting to include
relevant and necessary lessons.
So I have been using Claude toupload my course outline as I'm
working through building thiscourse and asking Claude to give
me feedback, and it has beenextremely helpful.

(22:45):
A study published in the Journalof Marketing found that
personalized email campaignsachieve 29% higher open rates
and 41% higher click-throughrates than generic campaigns.
So using AI to refine andpersonalize your email content
is another way to directlycontribute to these improved
metrics.
You could very easily uploadyour email campaign through

(23:09):
Claude, just as I've been doingwith my course in progress, and
have Claude make thoughtfuledits and suggestions about how
you can stick with your coremessage while making it more
engaging and clear.
Now that you've seen the basics, let's explore some advanced
prompting strategies that willhelp you get even better results

(23:30):
from Claude Research fromStanford University's Human
Centered Artificial IntelligenceInstitute found that well
crafted prompts can improve AIoutput quality by up to 30%
compared to basic prompts.
Let me show you how to implementthis research in practice.
So strategy#1 is system prompts.

(23:52):
A system prompt is essentiallyinstructions about how Claude
should behave throughout yourconversation.
So for example, you could typesomething like you are a
marketing expert specializing inemail sequences for
service-based businesses, yourresponses should be practical,
actionable, and tailored forentrepreneurs with limited time
use conversational language andprovide examples whenever

(24:15):
possible.
So now when I ask questionsabout marketing, Claude will
maintain this expertise andstyle throughout our
conversation.
For more tips about how to writereally effective prompts, make
sure you check out Episode#105,where I go through all the best
prompt writing tips.
Strategy#2 is step-by-stepcollaboration.

(24:38):
Rather than asking Claude tocomplete a complex task all at
once, I often break it down intosteps.
First, I ask for an outline.
Then I refine the outline withClaude.
Then I ask Claude to developeach section.
Finally, I have Claude edit fora specific tone and style.

(24:59):
You can always teach it yourstyle first, if you have
developed a brand voice, and ifyou haven't, make sure you check
out my episode where I teach youhow to develop your brand voice.
I will also link that in theshow notes, but in general, if
you give it too many steps ortoo many tasks all in one
prompt, your results will bemixed at best.

(25:22):
Think of it like giving atoddler five tasks at once.
The odds of getting all of thosethings done are slim.
Research from the IEEEInternational Conference on AI
assisted learning found thatinteractive iterative approaches
to working with AI led to 45%higher quality outputs compared
to a single prompt approach.

(25:44):
Again, if you haven't heard myepisode on iterative prompting,
I will also link that in theshow notes.
This collaborative approachleads to much better results
than trying to get everythingperfect in one prompt.
Strate#3ree is using Claude'smemory effectively.
Claude has a really impressiveability to remember previous

(26:05):
parts of your conversation, soone of the best ways to do this
is to develop differentconversations and then continue
on inside of thoseconversations.
For example, I have one that isall about one of my programs.
I have one conversation that isall about another program.
I have one conversation that isall about podcast episodes.
Each conversation is about adifferent part of my business,

(26:27):
and by continuing on thosedifferent conversations, Claude
is able to remember what I'veasked it for.
That way, the results that I getin each of those conversations
is very consistent.
Claude knows all about thedetails of each of my programs
and courses because I continueon that conversation inside of
the thread.

(26:47):
Now, let's talk about some protips and best practices.
Based on my extensive testingand use of Claude, here's some
pro tips to get the most out ofClaude.
Tip#1 is be specific about youroutput format.
Claude responds very differentlywhen I'm vague versus specific
about the format that I want.
For example, when I have Claudehelp me with my blog posts, I'm

(27:08):
very specific about wanting itto be formatted for a WordPress
post with H1, H2, and H3formats, I always make sure to
ask Claude to format my blogposts to be optimized for SEO.
By doing so, Claude always makessure to put the keywords that I
provide it with in theheadlines, which helps it to be

(27:31):
optimized for SEO.
Research from the University ofWashington's Human AI
Interaction Lab found thatproviding clear format
specifications improved theusability of AI outputs by 56%.
This is especially important forbusiness content where
consistency matters.

(27:52):
Tip#2 is use Claude's strengths.
Claude particularly excels atdocument analysis, nuanced
reasoning, detailedexplanations, and balanced
perspective on complex topics.
Tip#3 is to combine Claude withother tools.
What I have found with all of myuse of AI tools is that you

(28:14):
should never rely on just onetool.
I often use Claude as part of alarger workflow.
For example, I do a lot ofresearch using ChatGPT.
I outline with Claude.
I draft my content with Claude,I refine with other tools, or I
do that manually.
Remember, it is always importantto have that human touch.

(28:34):
And then I do a final edit checkwith Grammarly or with Hemingway
app.
According to Gartner's HypeCycle for artificial
intelligence reportorganizations that implement
integrated AI workflows withmultiple specialized tools, see
35% higher productivity gainsthan those using single tool
approaches.

(28:54):
This is also what I teach insideof my AI Evergreen Content
Machine course.
How to use a few key AI tools tobuild your content machine.
From one core piece of contentto create up to 20 individual
pieces of content in just twohours per week.
Next, it's important to also beaware of the limitations of

(29:18):
Claude and all AI tools.
While Claude is powerful, it'simportant to understand that
like everything, it does haveits limitations.
Let's talk about them.
First, it's the knowledgecutoff.
