Sarah Baker (00:00):
Hey there.

Welcome back to Tech Savvy 101: AI Automation Made Simple. (00:00):
undefined
I'm your host, Sarah Baker, yourtech savvy bestie, who's here to
help you simplify your business, embrace automation, and save
hours every week.
Today we're continuing our AIEssentials miniseries, where
we're exploring powerful AItools beyond just ChatGPT.
In this series, I'm walking youthrough the most valuable AI

(00:22):
platforms that can transform howyou work and create content.
Each tool in this series offersunique capabilities that might
be perfect for specific tasks inyour business.
By the end of this mini series, you'll have a complete AI
toolkit at your fingertips andknow exactly which tool to use
for different situations.
In today's episode, we're divinginto Gemini, Google's powerful

(00:45):
multimodal AI system that'sgiving ChatGPT, some serious
competition.
According to data fromSimilarWeb, Google's AI tools
have already captured nearly 25%of the consumer AI market share,
despite being newer to the scenethan open AI's offerings.
That rapid growth shows just howpowerful and compelling Gemini

(01:07):
really is.
By the end of this tutorial, you'll understand exactly what
Gemini is, how it compares toChatGPT, and most importantly.
I'll show you in real time howto use its unique features to
solve problems and createcontent in ways that other AI
tools simply can't match.
Let's dive in.
You can start by accessingGemini at gemini.google.com.

(01:30):
Gemini represents Google's mostadvanced AI system to date, and
it's undergone a bit of anidentity journey to get here.
What started as Google Bard inearly 2023 evolved into Gemini
in December of 2023,representing a significant
upgrade in capabilities.
According to Google's ownbenchmark testing, gemini Ultra,

(01:52):
which is their most powerfulmodel, outperformed GPT-4 on 30
out of 32 standard academicbenchmarks used in the AI
industry.
Gemini comes in three differentversions.
You've got Gemini Ultra, whichis their most powerful model
available in the paid Geminiadvanced, Gemini Pro, which is a
balanced model available in thefree version, and Gemini Nano,

(02:15):
which is a smaller modeldesigned to run on mobile
devices.
Once you log into your account, you can see that Gemini has a
clean, intuitive interfacethat's somewhat similar to
ChatGPT, but also with some keydifferences.
There's a text input at thebottom where you can type in
your prompts and yourconversation will appear above.
On the left hand side, you'llsee your conversation history,

(02:38):
and on the right hand side,Google will often provide
suggested follow up questions orrelated topics.
One immediate difference thatyou'll notice is the"add an
image" button right in the inputbox.
This highlights one of Gemini'skey strengths.
It's built from the ground up tobe multimodal.
This means it can understand andwork with text, images, audio,

(03:01):
and more.
Gemini is available for freewith some limitations, but
there's also Gemini Advanced for$19.99 per month as part of
Google one AI premium, which iscomparable to ChatGPT plus at$20
per month.
Now let's explore what makesGemini special and how it
differs from other AI tools thatwe've also covered within this

(03:22):
series.
The most distinctive feature ofGemini is its native multimodal
capabilities.
While ChatGPT added multimodalfeatures later with GPT-4
vision, Gemini was designed fromthe beginning to understand and
work across different types ofinformation.
For example, you can ask Geminito analyze an image of a

(03:47):
business dashboard, or aspreadsheet.
You can upload the dashboard andask Gemini to analyze it and
suggest insights by saying,"whattrends do you notice in this
data, and what recommendationswould you make?" Once Gemini is
able to do the analysis, you'llsee that it understands the
visual information in thedashboard.

(04:09):
It can analyze and identifytrends and also provide business
recommendations based on what itsees in the image.
This capability extends farbeyond just recognizing what's
in an image.
It's actually understanding thecontext and the content.
According to a study byStanford's HAI Institute,

(04:30):
multimodal AI systems likeGemini demonstrate up to 37%
better performance on complexanalytical tasks that involve
both text and visual datacompared to text only models.
Another powerful use case isanalyzing a complex diagram or a
process flow.
You can upload an image of amarketing funnel or a business

(04:53):
process and ask Gemini toexplain the process, identify
any bottlenecks and suggest anyimprovements.
This multimodal understandingopens up entirely new
possibilities for how you caninteract with AI.
Instead of having to describeeverything in text, you can
simply show Gemini what you'reworking with.

(05:15):
A report by Gartner predictsthat by 2025, this year,
businesses using multimodal AIwill achieve 40% faster problem
resolution for complex issuescompared to those using
text-only AI systems.
One of Gemini's most powerfulfeatures is its deep integration
with Google's ecosystems oftools and services.

(05:38):
This creates a true, uniqueadvantage over other AI tools.
Gemini has the ability to searchthe web in real time, giving it
access to the latestinformation.
And this is particularlyvaluable for topics that are
constantly evolving.
According to Google, Gemini withsearch can provide information
that's up to 97% more currentthan AI models without search

(06:03):
capabilities, especially fortopics like current events,
product releases, and industrytrends.
I.
If you're a Google Workspaceuser, Gemini can also be
integrated directly into Gmail,Google Docs sheets, and more.
A survey by productivityintelligence found that
professionals who use AI withintheir existing workflow tools
save an average of 2.3 hours perweek compared to those who

(06:27):
switch between different AIapplications.
And Gemini also has impressivecapabilities when it comes to
location-based questions andlocal information for businesses
that serve local markets.
This integration can provideextremely valuable insights in
about area demographics, competition, and trends that
might not be as easilyaccessible through other AI

(06:50):
tools.
Gemini also recently launchedextensions, which allows it to
interact with other tools andservices.
This is similar to ChatGPTsplugins, but with some key
differences.
Gemini offers extensions forthings like Google Flights,
Google Hotels, Google Maps,YouTube, Instacart, and more.

(07:12):
According to Google's internaldata, users who utilize
extensions complete tasks 42%faster than those who use
separate tools for each part ofthe process.
One unique aspect of Gemini'sextensions is how seamlessly
they integrate with Google's ownservices.
This creates a more consistentexperience compared to the third

(07:34):
party plugin model that ChatGPTuses.
For example, you can use theYouTube extension to find and
summarize relevant videos on atopic for content creators and
marketers, this ability toquickly research, analyze, and
incorporate information fromvideos offers a significant
advantage.

(07:54):
Now let's dive into some realworld use cases.
Here's how I use Gemini in mybusiness for various tasks.
Use case#1 is for multimodalcontent analysis.
Let's say I want to analyze acompetitor's landing page to
understand their messaging anddesign choices.
I could easily upload ascreenshot of my landing page

(08:17):
and ask Gemini to analyze thelanding page and identify the
key messaging strategies, conversion elements, and design
choices.
And then say what could beimproved?
Once Gemini analyzes it andgives me the response, this type
of analysis would typicallyrequire multiple tools or
specialists, but Gemini canprovide those insights to me

(08:39):
within seconds.
Use Case#2 is for datavisualization help.
Gemini excels at providing datavisualization and
interpretation.
I can upload a complex chart orgraph and ask Gemini to help me
explain what this data shows andsuggest better ways to visualize
this information for anon-technical audience as I am a

(09:03):
technology and automation coachwho helps individuals who are
not technical, this is extremelyhelpful for me.
To make sure that I am speakingto my audience in a way that
they understand.
According to a study by the datavisualization society, effective

(09:23):
data visualization can improveunderstanding of complex
information by up to 78%.
So Gemini's ability to bothinterpret and suggest
improvements to visualizationsmakes it an extremely powerful
tool for data-driven businesses.
Use case#3 is multimedia contentcreation.

(09:43):
Gemini can help create contentthat integrates different media
types.
A report by Hootsuite found thatposts with both optimized text
and visuals receive 94% moreengagement than text only
Content.
Gemini's multimodal capabilitiesmake creating such integrated
content much easier.

(10:04):
Use case#4 is realtime researchwith search integration.
Gemini's Search integrationhelps with up-to-date research
for businesses that need to staycurrent with industry
developments.
This realtime search capabilityis truly invaluable.
Remember, you've got the fullpower of Google behind you when
you're using Gemini.

(10:25):
Now let's talk about someadvanced features and pro tips
that will help you get the mostout of Gemini.
Tip#1 is to use adjust for toneand length control.
Gemini has a unique adjustfeature that lets you modify
responses without starting over.
According to a user experiencestudy by the Nielsen Norman

(10:47):
Group, contextual editingoptions like this can improve
the user satisfaction with AItools by up to 43%.
Tip#2 is the multi turnconversations with images.
Gemini maintains context whendiscussing images across multi
turns in a conversation.

(11:08):
Tip#3 is using extensions.
You can combine multipleextensions in a single
conversation to get reallypowerful workflows.
Tip#4 is to save and categorizeyour conversations.
Gemini allows you to save andorganize conversations for
future reference.
According to productivityresearch by Asana, professionals

(11:30):
who organize their digital toolsand resources spend 42% less
time searching for information.
So once you've had a really, really powerful and productive
conversation inside Gemini, makesure you save it and rename it
so that you can find thatinformation quickly and
efficiently in the future.

(11:51):
While Gemini is powerful, it'simportant to also understand its
limitations.
Limitation#1 is its regionalavailability.
Unlike some other AI tools,Gemini is not available in all
countries and regions.
Currently, it's available inover 150 countries, but it does
still have some geographiclimitations.

(12:13):
Limitation#2 is privacyconsiderations.
As part of Google Gemini's datapractices differ from other AI
providers.
Google's privacy policy allowsthem to use conversations to
improve their services.
Although you can delete youractivity history.
A survey by the Pew ResearchCenter found that 81% of users

(12:35):
are concerned about how theirdata is used by AI systems.
It is important to understandeach platform's approach to data
and privacy.
Limitation#3 is handling veryspecialized knowledge for highly
specialized or technicaldomains.
Gemini may sometimes provideless detailed information than
experts would expect.

(12:56):
And finally, limitation#4 isextensions that are still
maturing.
While Gemini's extensions arepowerful, the ecosystem is still
growing compared to somealternatives.
And there you have it.
A comprehensive walkthrough ofGemini from its multimodal
capabilities to its Googleintegrations and practical use
cases.

(13:16):
As you've seen, Gemini can offera powerful alternative to
ChatGPT with some distinctivestrengths.
