(00:12):
Well, well, well, you're back. We're back.
And today's episode is #20 Jonesy, we made it to 20.
We made it to 20. Still going strong, Sonny.
It as a rock. Yeah, yeah.
So today, mate, is a special episode because it's, well, it's

(00:34):
episode 20, but also it's an anniversary episode of some
sorts. Is that right mate?
Let's see it. 30 years. What was that?
The 30 years of kit? No, 30 years of shirt.
Jeez, I can't remember that. Yeah. 30 years of shirt.
So, Jonesy, do you want to tell our beautiful viewers and
listeners what today's episode'sabout, mate?

(00:55):
Yeah. So back to the thumbs up, thumbs
down. So we're going to compare the
199596 to the 2526 new release kits now they're all out.
Now Liverpool have dropped. Yeah, we've waited a while.
We waited for Fulham. Fulham and your Fulham aren't
even in it, so we won't even worry about this one.
So we're going to go from yeah, we're going, we're going to do

(01:18):
the 9596 so. 9596 sorry, out this year.
I mean it's not been like everywhere, is it mate?
I mean, it's rammed down I suppose every day.
Yeah, I sent a message for this one.
Isn't it exactly the same? There it is.
Carlsberg as well. Amazing, Gerard.
Yeah. So we're going to go through the

(01:39):
comparing the 9596. Sorry, sorry.
Bournemouth, Brentford, Fulham. Yeah, sorry you guys missed out.
We're going. We're going back to the 90s,
aren't we? I can, I can categorically tell
you now though, I didn't rig this episode to get Sheffield
Wednesday back under the limelight.
It was purely on the basis that it was 9596 to this season.

(02:01):
Yeah, what way to start it mate?Yeah, yeah, excellent.
What are you wearing anyway? Well, I thought I'd dig into the
Chelsea archives this week. I have the I can't remember how
many seasons they used this for but it's a bit Marmite isn't it?
This one? So for those listen, I'm wearing
the Chelsea grey and orange cores shirt which I believe is

(02:25):
9597, is that right? Yeah, I think so, because that
shirt. Yeah, I mean, look at the badge
is 1. It's huge.
It's orange. And you know what I say, guys, a
badge within the badge makes theworld go round.
So yeah, What are you wearing, Jamie?
Support on the Wednesday, aren'tI?

(02:47):
Swoon. There we go, Sheffield Wednesday
home 9596 with this perfect jeezyeah.
Cracking shirt. Yeah.
Would you say it's your favourite Sheffield Wednesday
shirt? I think I prefer the the
previous years the. One before, yeah.
Yeah, yeah. Home, away and the third do I

(03:08):
think I think they nailed it. But I mean, so before we kind of
go into the format of how today's episode's going to go,
how much fun did you have looking at today's shirts and
the 9596 shirts, Jamesy? Oh, it's cracking.
It was it was good going back. And just to kind of get a touch

(03:28):
on as well, I went to the the local sports shop just to check
out the quality of some of the seasons.
Yeah. I could only find Arsenal, Man
United, Liverpool, that's it really, James and Wrexham but
they're not in it, but Wrexham represented here in Australia
sports shops. I, I know I've mentioned this
before because we, we spoke about obviously like the, the

(03:50):
wonders of JJB in a sport, lifestyle sports, I think it
was. But there used to be the shop
that I went to in Reading that Imentioned before as a kid, it
had all of the Premier League kits, short sleeve, long sleeve.
This is very hard to come by now.
And the fact that we're comparing the modern day shirt

(04:11):
and the retro shirt. What is like your opinion on it?
Have they got better, worse, or indifferent?
Indifferent, I reckon there's some good that's there's some
shirts this season that are trueactually, you know, putting when
I was putting this together, I was like, that's decent, but
we'll go through because I don'treally want to spoil the the

(04:32):
thumbs up, thumbs down, No spoilers, no spoilers on this
show, mate. Like we should really remind our
listeners though with regards asthis is a shirt episode, James,
if people want to go and buy a shirt because they've seen a
shirt and they go cheers Woody and Jonesy, I'm off to buy one
now. Can they find one through her?

(04:53):
Absolutely, if you want a Shepherd Wednesday 9596 or a
classic Chelsea UA classic football shirts get to the
checkout PL pod 10 Yeah, 10% off.
Nice, I mean enjoy. You'll probably save a couple of
quid on the Chelsea one because this is quite expensive online.

(05:15):
Yeah, because of the name sets the ad on there, but that's all
right. That's another that's.
Yeah, we'll get into that. Yeah, yeah, I'm dribbling enough
at the thought of this episode, Jonesy.
Sturdy on. Yeah, sturdy on.
But it's going to be fun and suggest, yeah, obviously,
because it's a shirt one. Watch on YouTube or watch on
Spotify. Yes, please.

(05:35):
Yes, Yeah. Come on.
So. You can see what we're talking
about. Yeah, we we try and be as
descriptive as possible. I know Andy Custom Corinthians
said to me, because he's a postman.
So on his round he listens to the pod and he says every now
and then he has to stop at a door or stop on his room and
have to quickly go to YouTube tofind out what we're talking

(05:56):
about. Yeah, which is we'll try and be
descriptive. Manchester United shirt It's
red. Yeah, just for just for Andy's
benefit this week we will try and make it as descriptive as an
audio book as possible, like Jonesy turned the page.
Yeah. So Wednesday.
No, it's going to be good. Yep.

(06:18):
So that's it. We're just going to go straight
on to it, isn't it? No, no segments, no nothing.
Just bang. We just want to get onto it,
don't we? You'll already notice Jonesy, my
my hands are free. I'm not holding a clipboard this
week. Binder less.
Binder Less Yeah, I feel a little bit naked without my
start of the week. I'm not going to lie by trust in

(06:39):
your system and I know what we're going to do.
Yeah, that's it, right. Cool.
I will play the intro and we will get to the other side.

(07:01):
Oh wow. Oh, what on earth was that?
How's your eyes? Oh no, I was literally was like,
Oh my God, I felt hundreds of thousands was being thrown at
me. Like whoa.
Is that word art? That was word art.
The end as well. That was class so.
I know we're not doing bruises prices right or Jonesy's prices

(07:23):
right. May I apologise, but that felt
like a game show. Yeah, yeah.
And if anyone knows that tune, please DM us.
Yeah, because sure, a few peoplewill.
We'll kind of twig what that music was.
Yeah. I'll leave it for the.
I'll leave it for the oldies. All right.
Yeah. Cool.
Excellent. What a start.

(07:44):
Yeah, let's have a look all. Right, I can't contain myself,
can't even breathe. All right, all right, so we're
going to do alphabetically. So we're going to start with the
Arsenal. All right, so I put 2 long
sleeve ones on here. Yeah.
I'm sure we've got a gripe. There's a lot of gripe online
with especially the Adidas long slaves.

(08:06):
There seems to be a little bit missing there on the slave.
What's missing on the slave? The stripes, it doesn't go all
the way down. What, down the middle or the
cuff on the slaves? Yeah, the Alpha sponsors.
Yeah, what they got on the Arsenal one, Rwanda or
something? Oh God.

(08:28):
Oh yeah, don't get me started. Yeah, this is going to get deep
if I start going on to sponsorships.
Yeah, OK, right. So firstly, both of these do
look lovely in long sleeve Arsenal fans, so
congratulations. I'm in love with this 9596
Arsenal shirt purely because of,I mean, the whole kit is just

(08:53):
incredible. I recently did a post on their
merchandise catalogues and I forgot how amazing their shorts
and socks were with this kit because this had the lightning
bolt on the side of the shorts, didn't it?
Yeah. And then the hoop socks.
So I can remember Stefan Swartz Merson.
I mean, Merson was a long sleeveman wouldn't they?

(09:14):
Oh yeah, yeah, we just admire the quality of a Drake Ramberg,
don't we? Yeah, yeah.
And the closer you get to this, the better it looks, baby,
because it's not only is it the lightning bolt within the
jacquard print of this, but the badge looks like someone has

(09:35):
literally stitched it on that morning.
Do you know what I mean? It's that like?
Heavy Crest. Yeah, so it's not the one.
The one I've got is the Ian Wright.
No collar, just the round meat one.
What do you mean you've tucked it in or have you cut it off?
Have you been trimming shirts, Jonesy?
That's that college I've. Got it somewhere.

(09:56):
Only Uncle Ian can wear that. I can't find it now but it's
basically just yeah with no collar.
It's just the round neck. I did not know you could buy
that. Yes, if I could find it. 2
seconds. Because for the listeners,
Jonesy has now stood up. Jonesy is now walking around his

(10:18):
kit room trying to find an Ian Wright special.
I personally think the kit looked amazing without a collar,
but it also looked nice with a collar I must say.
Oh wow, what have you done? I.
Didn't do anything. I bought it like this.

(10:39):
I think I've got off classic football shirts.
Promised me you didn't take Crayola.
Scissors for that. Beauty that is incredible.
Yeah. So I think.
It's the sponsors. Wow.
But that's alright, I can get that fixed.
But look at that. How good is that?
Yeah, that's nice. I've changed my mind.

(11:00):
I think I like it without the collar now.
Yeah, Yeah, because that's got anice bit of red detailing,
hasn't it? It does.
Look at the blighting bolts. The Gunners down there as well.
The Arsenal on the back. Look at that.
Yeah, beautiful. Yeah, beautiful shapes.
And as you said, you were right about the badge as well.
Look at that. Yeah, it's just stitched it
crispy, you know. Yeah.

(11:21):
So, yeah, there you go. Yeah.
So this season's have you checked out this season's you've
been to the. Sports Shop.
Yeah, well, not to be cheesy Jonesy, but I did use PL Pod 10
this one 'cause I I bought it for my younger brother for his
birthday. Oh, brilliant.
Because he's a gooner. So yeah, close up.

(11:42):
Do you know what? I was very sceptical when I saw
the Instagram kind of release with Declan Rice in the shirt
etcetera. I thought it looked a bit plain,
a bit boring and a bit samey from like all the seasons gone
by. But again, and with a lot of
football shirts nowadays, the detailing is different and there
are hidden gems within these shirts.

(12:04):
So that one, the closer again you look at it, it just looks
good. It looks clean, fresh and
professional. How are you?
Yep, that's it. I like the the A, the the A's on
there. As you can see.
I'm yeah, in the in the shirt there.
That was like the old Arsenal, wasn't it?

(12:24):
The old yeah, yeah, yeah. So I checked this out in the
local support shop. I liked it.
The only thing I would change. What do you think I would change
about that shirt, Denzi? The Adidas logo.
Oh my hero, yes it is. I don't.
Yeah, that's my gripe. You know what?
I don't like this. Yeah.
No, I'm not a fan of this new Adidas logo, no.

(12:46):
Trefoil. Trefoil me all the way.
Look how tiny the Nike is on like the yeah come on.
I know, but again, right. I also prefer the Nike kits with
the word Nike above the swoosh. Yes, you know, I mean, you can
tell we were born in the 90s, Jamesy, because the preference

(13:09):
is is key. OK, Right.
Shut up, Woody, let's vote. We doing this on are we do it?
Yeah. Are we doing this on both or am
I voting on the the home share and what's best out of two?
No, we're doing like we do. So thumbs up left, thumbs up
right. OK, OK.
Well, I'm definitely going. Thumbs up for the Home 9596.

(13:33):
Yeah. They're both the home.
Shut up, Woody. Yeah.
Thumbs up for the home. And I'm going thumbs up for the
home. This season's 2526 as well.
Yeah. I'm going to agree with that
one. So thumbs up spamming easy.
All right. Next, Aston Villa.

(13:55):
Some of these shirts I haven't seen yet though, like in in
Great were. You were you owing over the new
shirt or the old shirt? I was owing over the old I love
the Reebok era. Yeah, old.
Yeah. And you know what?
I've been fascinated with this. And I told you because when we
saw Ross Sabutio Brahmi wearing it in the Sabutio episode, I was

(14:17):
literally reminding myself of how nice that shirt is.
And also it kind of like it's a deep blue, isn't it?
One of my regrets why I sold that shirt.
I don't know why. Me too.
Yeah, me too. Why do we do this to ourselves?
I don't know. And I like the gold on the

(14:37):
Reebok as well. That's a little subtle touch
there as well. Me too.
And you see on the on the collaras well that see this the little
details. Yeah, again, shorts and socks
with this kit. Dreamy.
Yeah, like it was the they had hooped socks, didn't they?
I. Think so I can put it what?
Was it with 9596 and hooped socks I.

(15:00):
Think we I think we've forgottenabout the the seasons.
Yeah, we just talked about the. Yeah, I just.
Yeah, so. You hadn't you hadn't seen this
seasons one? No did you?
Did you? Just thought I'd put a picture
up of last season's OR. I kind of thought like you are
an attention for detail like manwith all this and I would never
ever like judge you or question your choices so But when it came

(15:23):
up, I was like, oh, James, he's picked last season.
Always last season. I'm going to have a look
actually. It was very similar I think.
They all say me. I'm sure the Villa fans would
let us know. But to the untrained eye, I mean
the sleeves here look almost white, Don't.
They yeah, with a yeah, I see what you mean.

(15:44):
You see the the Adidas stripes as well.
I mean, they played in for you. They do, don't they?
Yeah, I mean, yeah, you're right.
It's last season. So yeah, I'll have to put last
season very similar. They had the striped neck, but I
put a yeah, let's go on. They had Claret detailing on the

(16:06):
sleeve last season. They.
Didn't they? Yep, and round the neck as well.
Same sleeve sponsor. It's one thing we didn't have in
the 90s mate. No slave sponsor.
Yeah. Just a Premier League badge.
We didn't need sponsors back in those days, we just needed Ian
Dowry on a wet Tuesday night. That was the only thing we

(16:28):
needed. That's it.
I think I'm going to give our first thumbs down of the review
here mate. Yeah.
So thumbs up for the home shirt because AST computers, Reebok
and a deep, deep maroon or a thumbs up for me.
Yeah, beautiful shirt. Did they want the Coca-Cola cup

(16:52):
in this one? Right.
Yeah, they did three nil leads, yeah.
Boom, Yeah, beautiful shirt, Theone of the Yeah.
The Villa one stick on the Adidas that is that a betting
sponsor as well, but I know, yeah.
I think it just stays away a bitfrom Villa this this time if the

(17:17):
sleeves are a bit darker, probably, but I think it's not
as inventive. It's too similar to last seasons
and I'm a little bit kind of like, come on, try a bit harder.
Yeah, I agree if I probably haveto check it out in person if I'm
going to find a Village Village shirt in the shops over here,
but yeah, I think I'm going to be the same thumbs down.

(17:39):
I think they could have done a lot better.
Yeah. Yeah, there we go all.
Right now it goes, you win. All right, and next to the first
Championship Blackburn rivals. Jonesy, right, This is your
segment, mate, because you're a closet Rovers fan.
There you go, right? I just like the colour blue and

(18:01):
white. No, you don't, right?
I know you've got like a Mike Newell mug at home.
I do. And an A3 poster of Colin Hendry
in your bathroom. The reason mate, the Rovers
thing, I told you it was an experiment.

(18:22):
I had to get a It was a challenge I sent myself.
I had to get an entire team's home and away and 3rd outfield
players and Blackburn was the team I picked.
I'm fell in love. With you, don't worry about the
Rovers pictures all on my wall here.
This. Can I just say, looking at these
two shirts right, they have taken into account of 95 and 90

(18:48):
sixes kit from the the home shirt, haven't they for the new
shirt? The last seasons as well was
pretty. That was calm, yeah, yeah, no,
last year's they had the pretty similar as well, like the colour
and things like that. Not really a fan of the Watson

(19:09):
Ramsbottom solicitors. Yeah, it's a bit big, but at
least. But at least it's the same
colour of traditional sponsors. Yeah, Yeah.
Because if we talk this season'skits for the Championship,
Sheffield Wednesday, I've got a sponsor called Mr. Vegas, which
is bogey green and it is on a blue shirt.
Well, it's horrendous. Mr Q for Watford, where they

(19:32):
what? They've got a yellow and red
kit. I've heard about that, yeah.
It's. Blue, like at least Blackburn,
is sticking to a theme here. Yeah, I agree.
I like it, Macron. I tell you, over the years,
they've come a long way. I, I some of their kids, yeah,
they've done well. The silent assassin of the
football kit community. Absolutely, yeah.

(19:54):
I like it. I like it.
I don't know if I'll buy it. Is that it?
You like it. Nothing else.
No, No emotion from you there. No, there's no emotion.
He's got Venke. Wow, slave, isn't it?
Look at that big. Get rid of the Venk, is it?
Yeah. Get rid of the Venkeys.
And then are they? Still there.
Yeah, on a sleeve. Oh my God, so they're still

(20:15):
eating chicken like every. Yeah, no Jack Walkers.
Relief. Yeah.
OK, right. Let's get that thing brass
packs. I like it.
We all know our feelings about the 9596.
You know, I could talk all day. Don't hold that.
That's on that kid. Yeah.
That's their best shirt of all time, that one.
Best shirt of all time? Yeah, I think.

(20:38):
I think it's, I think it's smart, it's good.
It's a good, it's a good effort.I think I preferred last year's
because last year's was a a tribute to the 9495 as well.
Yeah, yeah, I think they had thered as well.
Do you know we all have the the red?
They did. Yeah, so I just don't get that
shirt. Yeah, but this one, yeah, I like

(21:01):
it. I don't know.
Yeah, I do. Yeah.
I like the fact that they've done the kind of half and half
collar as well, where they've gone blue and blue and white
again, like the old the badge. They haven't changed and they
don't need to ever change that badge because that is one of the
best badges in football history.Never change.
Yeah, never change. Never change.

(21:23):
No one needs to rebrand. No one.
Why did you sound like a 60 yearold wedding DJ when you said
never change never? Change.
Rock on. All right, so are we getting a
thumbs up? Yeah, thumbs up for both.
Yeah, happy days. Happy days.
All right, Go. All right.

(21:45):
Next Walton. Victorian Plumbing.
Oh, OK. That's a local business.
Yeah, back to local. I mean, is it, I guess it's
don't know. Is it?
I don't know. Victorian Plumbing, I think I
saw an advert with Peter Crouch with Victorian Plumbing the
other. Day.
Oh, really? All right, don't worry about it.

(22:06):
Then possibly Mac another Macron.
Yeah, I know. I just this is a bit too white
for my liking for Bolton. Yeah, Bolton has always been
synonymous with a bit of a deep blue for me.
Yeah, yeah. This is a bit too Tottenham, a
bit too Leeds. I mean, I do like though.
Oh, hang on, I was going. To I was going to say the

(22:27):
pattern. Have you seen the pattern?
Along the side yellow, Is that the Union Jack?
I don't know. I don't think you'd like the
Union Jack anymore. Are you?
No. Oh, Jonesy's getting political.
I don't. All right?
I don't live there. I can say what I want.
All right, let's go. Because looking back at it, I

(22:49):
guess it looks very familiar. If you can go back further.
Yeah, I like the patterns. I guess early 90s don't know
that little the yeah. My my first thoughts are sponsor
colouring is horrendous. If they'd had a Navy blue

(23:10):
sponsor or red sponsor, it wouldbe a little bit different.
I know Victorian Plumbing is green.
I know they're kind of colouringis green, the home shirt for the
9596 season with Reebok and the centralised badge is glorious.
Yeah, like it's just a dimple shirt.

(23:31):
Looking back at last season's aswell, I didn't notice Bolton's
last looks like they I was to share last season's last season
is all right. They had the middle middle
Macron, middle Bolton badge and then the away looked like a
tribute for the 90s as well. Victoria Plumbing.
Before that it was service my car that just that sponsor was

(23:51):
giant Jesus. Wow.
Then home bargains. Oh yeah, I remember Home
Bargains. Well, that was a bit grim.
OK, just I'm a little bit disappointed with this one for
Bolton, I'm afraid. The new Seasons kit.
So were you a fan of the 9596? I had that.
One, Oh yeah, yeah, I was a fan of, we said this before we

(24:13):
started recording. I was a fan of the season before
when they got into the playoffs, weren't they?
Which you've got on screen. Is that right?
I've got it here, actually. This one.
Yeah, look at that, Reebok. Massive change though, in terms
of the look of the shirt. The look of the shirt's not

(24:35):
massively different though, is it?
But we love Reebok, don't we? Yeah, it just worked, didn't it?
I don't, yeah, as I said, this 95 and I don't know why I sold
it. I don't know.
It's one of the when I was putting this together, I was
like, gosh, do I have this now? I sold it.
These episodes feel like punishment sometimes, don't
they? Let's be honest, go.
Back a few years and say you'll be doing a pod in a few years

(24:59):
writing kits you need to sell I think.
The Aqua theme tune turn back time.
Like every time we mention it now.
Right, All right, let's, let's get down to it.
Josie, thumbs up, thumbs up. 9596 thumbs down.

(25:24):
Now you've mentioned the Victorian plumbing and yeah,
yeah, I'm the. Same, Yeah.
Thumbs up home for 9596 Thumbs down new home chat.
Yeah, sorry, bolted fans. Yeah, sorry for listening.
Thanks for listening. I yeah.
Cheers. All right, Chelsea, Chelsea,

(25:45):
which one do we? Which one we is it?
This is a week we're looking back in our in over.
May I'm, I think I'm both here. Yeah, I've, yeah, I've got the
home share for 9596. I had it, but I think we've
talked about in a previous episode the cause.

(26:06):
Yeah, the cause does go, but I've got 1 still intact.
But it's pretty boring. Yeah, again, the badge and Umbro
are the only things that save this from getting the bin.
You know I didn't. Have the season the season
before that. I just had to check my badge to

(26:26):
see how big that was. Yeah.
So yeah, I mean it's a bit blur.So as far as it got, if you
think about the couple of seasons before when it was Cause
and Amiga and they had that red Umbro taping round the sleeve
I've. Got the Amiga 1 somewhere.
Have you in? The in the HQ.

(26:46):
Jonesy just stand up for the whole episode, mate.
I mean, go through your wardrobe.
So we've got the Chelsea Home 9596 and the Chelsea 2526.
I'm sure it's on screen right now.
And I'm underwhelmed with both, James, I've got to admit.
I was going to say I'm not. Yeah.

(27:08):
Did you like the 97981? Yes, probably a bit more than
this if I'm honest. Add a bit more character to.
It Yeah, yeah, I don't think yeah, I mean, yeah.
I after the cause went, I sold the shirt pretty pretty quickly
at a reduced price. Of course, we're not in the
business of ripping people. No, no, I get it.

(27:30):
EBay description damaged Chelseathat was on the eBay
description. New with tags I.
Wasn't blown away about this oneto be honest.
I like the richness of the blue. That's the only thing I like.
Yeah, and I don't think I'd likethe Chelsea current shirt for

(27:51):
Can't Remember. No, they've they've had some
absolute waffle for the last. I don't, I don't know.
Let's let's see what's yeah. You're right, remember a Chelsea
shirt that I've liked since the brown of this era?
Yeah, I can't remember Samsung era, maybe Samsung Yokohama

(28:12):
tyres era. My favourite home shirt of
Chelsea's was the 2 thousand 2001 fly Emirates with the
collar and it was just before they were bought and it had like
Lasso, Gronkier, Melchior, yes, like it was just beautiful.
I had that shirt. But these ones are a far cry
from this. Now they just look like Chelsea.

(28:35):
I don't know why they they mess about with the sponsor all the
time. Like get it sorted, put it on a
shirt. What's?
What's with that? One so they just, they just
can't find a sponsor. I mean, I don't really follow
this kind of thing, but yeah, what's what's the story with the
sponsor? Can't find anyone.
I don't know because they they have one every time they play.
It's infinite athlete, isn't it?Or something like that.

(28:57):
But like the this shirt here just looks like one of those fan
shirts that you find in Sports Direct for like 1299.
It's just I don't like them. This thumbs down for both.
Jonesy get this off my screen. I'm appalled.
All right. Are you doing it as well?
Yeah, I don't know shit. Don't be swayed by me, James, if

(29:19):
you. No, no, because I've got bad
memories of that. I mean, when I was looking at
the Yeah. So when they, when I put it up
the 90 fives, I was like, oh, but looking into it, I had, I
wasn't kind of. Yeah, I remember being
underwhelmed when I had it. And yeah, that sponsor thing
pissed me off. So yeah, yeah.
Screw you, Chelsea. All right.

(29:42):
Coventry. Coventry.
Yeah, All right. You know I've got depository
ones, don't you? Yeah, it's beautiful.
Just want to see. For some reason though, I always
thought that shirt you've got there, so that's the home shirt
for 9596 you're holding up. Is that the player issue 1?

(30:03):
No. I don't know where that is,
probably somewhere on the floor. But that's a version of that
same shirt there, right? Yeah.
So I always thought that shirt was earlier than 9596 because
they must have carried the shirts over for a few seasons.
Yeah, trying. To think where the other one is
going for the long sleeve. I mean, that one was already the

(30:28):
classic. You've got that. 1.
Yeah, yeah. It's nice that one.
Yeah, the only thing I don't like and.
That was that's 9798, that one you held up there, wasn't it?
Or I think so, yeah. The Peugeot.
Yeah. Yeah, the Cox sport teeth.
The only thing I don't like. Same with the Southampton.
This this. Yeah, choke the vicar.

(30:48):
Choke. Yeah, it's a choke.
Just chokes the life out of you.Yeah.
I don't know. I like it, but I don't say I
don't know. I have mixed feelings about this
commentary. One because I'd like to wear it,
but I just can't wear it. Yeah, it doesn't beat the 95.
The 9294 home shirt by Ribero. Yeah, of course.

(31:09):
Yeah, you've got that one. Yeah.
And they're away shirt for this season, which is the beautiful
purple and yellow shirt, which Trump's that one in my opinion.
Which one the this season's away, I mean.
No, the 9596 away. Sorry for that.
Coventry was the purple shirt, wasn't it?

(31:30):
Yeah, I've got the green one. Yeah, I've got the green.
Which what did they did they have the No, it was the
chequered shirt, wasn't it? It was chequered.
I've got that's the player issueone with the long sleeve.
Oh nice. Try getting long sleeve.
Yeah, it's nice and long, Steve. So I think that was 9495 away.

(31:54):
So the green and Navy blue stripes for the listeners.
So 9596 was that purple? Yes, 90 and then 9697.
Was the chess board. Yes, yeah.
OK. And you can get these, I think

(32:16):
that Purple 1 you can get on theCoventry.
It's a re release, isn't it? I think we talked about re
releases earlier. Yeah, yeah, I like them.
We. Have we haven't even spoke about
this season? Monzo.
What's Monzo? Yeah, I saw the Coventry ad for
Monzo and it was Frank Lampard sat in a training room or
something. He was on his phone.

(32:38):
Oh, it's a credit card service. Yes, credit card to bank, Yeah,
So it looks nice on the shirt tobe fair.
And the shirts quite retro. And I certainly think Hummel,
yeah, Hummel isn't it. So I personally think Coventry
have actually done well with their home shirts for a few
years now with Hummel. Always.
Oh, they had Monzo last year. It's not.

(32:58):
It's not too much different fromlast year's.
Yeah, it's not a garish kind of sponsor though, is it?
It looks quite good and they've kept the traditional badge,
which again, I love. Yep, Yep, tradition.
But you know what? Can I shock you, Jamesy?
Shock me. Thumbs down for the 9596 and

(33:20):
thumbs up for 2526. I would probably agree with
that. I mean I have a love hate
relationship with the 90 Fortnite.
I don't know, it's just a collar.
Yeah, the collar ruins it for me.
This is like a joke. You put it on and you're like,
you can't breathe. Yeah.
Especially your ways stuff there.
But I'm agree and it's, yeah, I mean, I'm glad I just got

(33:41):
obviously player version and stuff like that, but I don't
think you'd see me wearing walking down the local High
Street and that. No, and I mean like Gordon
Strachan's voice was high enoughalready.
I mean, Can you imagine him withhis little ginger Muller in
that? What to do in the month?
But I I like Hamel. I I actually it looks smart.

(34:02):
Yeah, it does. Yeah, I think, yeah.
So I think thumbs down for the 95 and 86 thumbs up this season.
Jamesy, eh, We've just dismissedRetro.
There we go. That's fine.
We did that. Chelsea's as well, Yeah, All
right, next one Everton, which is a 9596 or.

(34:29):
I'm just a little bit like, you know, when you kind of compare
shirts now I'm looking at like retro ones a little bit
differently. Yeah, not a fan of well.
I again I had the Danker 1 and this is the one.
This. Is this the kit they won the FA
Cup in? It was, but they had NEC so it

(34:51):
was one of those ones. Get to cup final, new kit, old
sponsor. Oh.
OK, right. And you know what?
I put this in the same category as the Chelsea because I had it,
Yeah, and. And the danker came off.
Well, it's the same, It's the same.
It's pretty much the same kit, isn't it really?
Same. I was pissed off with that as
well. Yeah.

(35:11):
You know, you just rub it together, it comes off.
Yeah, that's horrible. Jonesy flash sale.
Get rid of it. Oh.
Wow Jonesy, I feel really disappointed now I'm seeing both
of these are there. So so let's talk about this
season. So that's let me get rid of the
steak.com. What's Castoro?
Isn't it? Castoro Yeah, not many people

(35:33):
are thrilled with this because it's a what season was it?
It's a throwback to Is it 80? It looks like an 8586, doesn't
it? Like a Peter Reid kind of era.
Yeah, no, I have to go back. Maybe it was 90, early 90s,
ninety, 1/19/90. I don't know.

(35:55):
Oh, what was the small NEC sponsor?
Could be what they said, What's what's the, is it something to
do with the, the river Mersey, the waves or something?
I don't know, like I saw some story but I wasn't taking any
notice, no. It's OK again though, it just

(36:17):
looks too. I don't know, it just looks too
plain. Like, do you like that, Jill?
Do you like their away one? Have you seen their away one?
They like the. The cream one.
Yeah. No, that is grim.
That is grim. What's your thoughts on Kastori?
Are you? Not a fan, no.

(36:39):
I mean, I've, I've heard their shirts are well made and I've
heard that cricket gear from Castore is good, but we don't
talk cricket on this pod. So in my opinion, I I'm just a
bit kind of underwhelmed by it. I've seen a lot of stories on
like Twitter and stuff where people have got the shirts and

(36:59):
the sponsors on the Upside Down and.
Had a problem didn't they with Castore like a couple of seasons
ago didn't they? Because it was too hot for the
players to wear. Was that the sweat one?
Yeah, yeah. It's going to be a double thumbs
down again, I think. James E.

(37:20):
Yeah, I think I'll go. I preferred the 9495 Everton
ones in the previous Yeah with the white Collar and EC, Yeah, I
think yeah. Anything where like the quality
on that one with a sponsor, as Isaid, just yeah, that pissed me
off and it's just like it's disappointing.
Yeah, it is. It looks cheap that.
Yeah, sorry, Everton fans. Yeah.

(37:40):
All right, next Leeds. You've got that shirt, don't
you? The 9596.
Yeah, the milk. Does it feel polo shirt.
Yeah. I wasn't a fan of this one to be
honest when it came out. It's so, yeah, I remember I was

(38:00):
just like, I couldn't decide. You've got the ASICS, the Little
Leagues badge, and the LUFCI wasjust like, what's just aside?
It's a bit evil scientist, isn'tit?
From like Frankenstein. You know, the ones that they
turn. I've got the high collar on with
all of the potions. There's a bit like bit.
Yeah, like Gary McCann. They're in this.

(38:20):
I mean, we all know that Tony Gabo's goal against them will
pull back. I remember seeing it Match
magazine. I've just been underwhelmed.
I'm like because I've got the previous years.
Yeah, I had Sabutio in this and that was detailed.
It was nice. I think like what I like about
this kit though, is it's very traditional and it's iconic.

(38:44):
It's got icon status this kit. Just for the listeners as well,
I've put long sleeve so I forgotto ask, what's your thoughts on
long sleeve? Lovely.
Different. I mean, it's different.
No, it's the same. Could they put like a lightning
bolt or something on there or flames or something to just.

(39:08):
Like if you put a blazer over that shirt like it would, that
would be an outfit and a half, wouldn't it?
It's a bit weird. The fact that it's got about 8
badges on as well was a bit different.
Did you like the Puma era after that?
So I remember the Packard Bill 9697, Ian Rush, remember it
didn't seem right when we didn'tsit right.

(39:29):
Me in Russian Leeds. Come on, the favourite era for
Leeds would have either been theAdmiral or their Strongbow Nike
kind of era with the Duker and Keel.
All them. Yeah.
I think they lost a little bit of identity when they went to
Puma. The kits were still nice.
They were OK because of the taping on the shoulder and stuff

(39:51):
with the Puma logo. Yeah.
But yeah, I just think it was a bit of a weird period.
I'm only liking this home shirt from 9596 because it's iconic.
It's like, OK, Thomas Brolin, Tony Ibowa, Gary Speed
McAllister, you know, it's that kind of Carlton Palmer era.

(40:11):
And I like the LUFC and the little tiny badge above the
ethics. Thinking about it, this one, the
League Cup final, wasn't it. Yeah.
They didn't have names on the back, did they?
They just had numbers. Yeah, but again, it's very Billy
Bremner kind of Norman Hunter here, isn't it?

(40:32):
Yeah, yeah, sorry, we haven't even gotten to this season's.
Gross. You don't like it?
No I don't. I don't like their kit with Red
Bull. I just think it looks horrible.
Red Bull, I'm a big fan. I drink your drink every
morning. Keep.

(40:54):
Going I've never drunk a Red Bull.
Don't. Only in like mixers, but never
like an actual count of Red Bull.
It just looks too kind of template Y.
OK, what about the away? That's a throwback, isn't it
too? Is that the blue and yellow?

(41:16):
Yeah. So that one, the Red Bull logo
is all yellow. OK, fine.
Yeah, this one, this one doesn'tdo I like it, but it's all
right. It's all right.
It's all right. I think I'd prefer the home of
9596 to this one. I think Lee's of of as of late

(41:41):
when they've gone to Adidas, it's great there with Adidas and
Adidas make nice kits. But I think they've, if you look
at Newcastle with Adidas and compare it to Leeds, Leeds have
been given the template off cuts.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're not in that kind of,
yeah. Because it's, there's a, there's

(42:01):
a hierarchy, isn't there? There's like different gradings,
yeah. Yeah, yeah.
OK, so you so you're going to gothumbs, thumbs up for 9596.
Nostalgic reasons only. Yeah.
All right. Yeah, Jones is going to go the
opposite way. There you go.
That's not ASICS, by the way. Is it that home shirt?

(42:23):
I mean, it's not like traditionally an ASICS shirt
like that. No, and that's why I didn't
like. I don't.
That's just weird, isn't it? Yeah, You think the year before
as well. I've got that one, but I won't
get it out. But yeah, All right.
Cool. Glad we agreed on that.
Our first divide. All right, next, mighty Reds,

(42:46):
Liverpool. There you go, behind me.
OK. All right, let's get on to it.
9596 for those of you that are listening Liverpool home and
2526 Liverpool home. So yeah cricket collar huge
didn't like it didn't like it either.

(43:07):
However, I like the word Adidas as opposed to the the actual Oh
yeah, I mean. Please.
How are we going from there? Yeah, I was disappointed.
I think I've told you I saw thatin a match magazine or
something, The Dirty sports advert, and I saw that kit and I
was. The whole kit's nice.

(43:29):
Oh, I got a full kit when I was a kid, yeah.
The the whole kit's nice. The the fact that it's got like
faint stripes in the kit is nice.
The badge being humongous is nice.
I also like the word Adidas as opposed to the stripes, that's
quite cool. I can't this one, like I was
going to think they're wearing it for the pod, but I just, I

(43:49):
can't breathe. It's, yeah, it's the collar.
It is the collar, yeah. I just good memories in that
shirt. Yeah, that's a 4/3.
It's, and then this is the thing, James, and I'm sure you
will agree on this with me. Sometimes from a design
perspective, it can be a monstrosity, but from a
nostalgic, iconic memory perspective, it can be

(44:10):
beautiful. Yeah.
And, and this is where my mind is leading me for these kit
reviews is when I look at that kit, I'm thinking of Collymore,
you know, and Keegan hanging over the sponsors, you know, and
I'm, I'm kind of thinking of that as opposed to the cricket
net collar modern shirt. I mean, we waited a long, long

(44:33):
time for this. And it's yeah, they had to get.
Out of they had to get rid of that Nike deal, didn't they?
I mean, before it. I think it's a throwback to that
one, isn't it? Like it wasn't.
Yeah, to me, I wasn't. It's Carlsberg season makes that
kit. Yeah, yeah.
OK. So that's 2006.
Yeah, I. Think.

(44:54):
Sorry, Very underwhelming, I know.
Yeah, there's probably spend a fortune on advertising because
it was literally everywhere, wasn't it?
Like. Yeah.
Even the Australian shops as well, Rebels for Ultra Football
went mad over here with it. Yeah, big launch, but yeah, it

(45:14):
looks. It looks nice long sleeve, that
one. That's the only thing I'll say
about that shirt. Yeah, yeah.
But as homes go, I think again, it's a little bit too kind of
like this is your first kit backwith Adidas for many years.
Liverpool and Adidas have been amarriage made in heaven for
quite a while and they've made that and I'm a little bit kind

(45:37):
of like, oh man, do you know what I mean?
Did you like the Remember the New Balance suit?
Did you like the New Balance eraof Liverpool?
Absolute pulp disgusting. Then like then I didn't.
I didn't like warrior either. I didn't like I was.
Going to say. Oh.
I was going to go and grab the Warrior, but I'll leave.
I'll leave the Warrior. I think the Warrior, the New

(45:58):
Balance was the last Liverpool shirts I bought.
The Warrior, actually I think it's, I think it's the ten
years. The 2000 and 1415 was the last
Liverpool shirt I bought. Wow, and the restaurant has been
Blackburn, right? Have you even got that Rovers?

(46:19):
I even had Silent caught me off guard there.
I even had that third shirt as well.
The kind of. Oh what the purple mix match
one? No.
Oh, I did have that one as well, yeah.
That was grim. I was invested in warrior
cheese. I did.
I've had of course I had to HomeAway 3rd for that.

(46:40):
I had I think. Josie, if you ask any Liverpool
fan, that was the time where your club was in crisis.
Like you add Voronin, like Daniel Agar, you add Joe Cole,
you add like, yeah, that David Ungog or I don't know, you have

(47:01):
the names like I think, Oh my God.
Yeah, I know The Ultimate Warrior kind of era doesn't not
kind of, Joe. Allen.
All right, back to this season. Sorry, sorry, Liverpool fans.
I know there's a few Liverpool fans that listen and I know that
they're big fans of the pod, so I apologise, but I'm going for

(47:23):
Beauty Within History for the home shirt for 9596 and I don't
like the new shirt. 2520 OK there.
You go. All right, I'm going to Yeah.
This is a tough one. As I said, wearing that 9596 as

(47:49):
a kid, it was uncomfortable. I didn't it's.
Because we can have beards now, Jonesy.
Thumbs down for both because I'mvery underwhelmed by the the
seasons because they could have done a lot better.
But I know you know, it's everyone loves it.
You've, you've got to take into fact now that young Jonesy put

(48:10):
in that home shirt on a 9596, you didn't have stubble, you
didn't have a beard and you didn't have indigestion.
Right now in that 40s, putting that shirt on, we have got so
many more contributing factors as well as man boobs.
So I put that shirt on. I tried to put it on on, so I
put it on. I can't.
I can't wear this for a whole episode.

(48:31):
And I have to do like. I have to do a change like.
There you go, Sage. Older us, yeah, Would struggle,
yeah. Hopefully from next season and
it's the always been released yet the Liverpool.
The the white one, but yeah, notthe elusive emerald.
Yeah. You're, you're definitely going

(48:52):
to buy that if that's coming out, I know you will.
Oh, absolutely. Yeah.
I've got the candy in that kind of.
Yeah. Yeah, I do.
I do love a throwback. All right.
Cool, Liverpool. We love you.
All right. Manchester City.
Oh, brother. Oh.
Brother, I'm going to be quick with this one.

(49:14):
Umbro have really let me down this season so far with Chelsea
and Everton's kits thus far, andthis kit makes no exception
because I don't like the stripy collar on this one.
You know what? I was never a fan of this one
the year before. Yeah, that one for my 9594, if

(49:35):
you got this the previous years.Yes.
Yeah, I like that one. This one, I remember when it
came out. Yeah, same thing.
I wasn't, I don't know, I wasn'tkind of bothered about it.
It's just me. Never been blown away by it.
Now again, it just looks a bit cheap.
I just, I don't know why. I've never really thought like

(49:55):
this before. The the new shirt for Man City
2526 is one of their worst I've seen.
Yeah, What's going on with that Puma?
Like the collar looks massive. Why do they keep having to put
us bash down it all the time? What is with Man City and

(50:15):
sashes? So they're in a beauty pageant.
Like just leave it. Very.
It's very underwhelming, isn't it?
It's like they've just got I'd love to know the thought process
between how do we what we're designing new shirt like go for
it sash yes all right, cool. Next.
Well, I know they're I know they're away.
Kits have had sashes over the years so I I get it but.

(50:40):
Puma do. I mean, Dortmund's a bit of a
hit and miss as well, but they do a bit more, don't they, with
the Dortmund. I think that's traditional.
That's because it's Dortmund. But.
They they do, but I've fallen out of love with Puma for quite
a while because of their kits. Yeah.
Yeah, and I just think both of these are worthy of a red.
Thumbs down, Jonesy. Yeah, yeah, I think so.

(51:01):
What did you think of the World Club Championship of the
Universe, Puma kind of awful. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I agree. Yeah.
Not blown away. I don't think I'm going to join
you on the double. Thumbs down for that one.
See you later. All right, next Manchester
United. There we go.

(51:22):
What are you thinking, 94? Yeah, there we got.
So we got the 9596, the Old Trafford in there.
This is the only difference to me with this shirt.
So again, the nostalgic element of this one is good because I
can remember this being a point where I hated Man United and it
was always Fergie tapping his watch kind of era.

(51:45):
But this differs from Everton, Man City and Chelsea's template
of Umbro because it's got Old Trafford on it.
Yeah, and they've put a little bit more effort into this kit.
Did you prefer the seasons before though Obviously the lace
up 1. Oh, no, that's that was a nice
kit. Yeah.

(52:06):
I don't mind this kit as far as Man United go.
I mean this. If I were to say what was my
prolific memory of Man United inmy childhood, it would be that
kit. That one.
Yeah, because I can remember thename sets on it.
I can remember can't now with Collar Up, Andy Cole's first
season in that kit. Sorry.
Yeah, yeah, the nine nil Ipswich.

(52:29):
Yeah, yeah, it's just a, it's a biggie, you know?
And as a collective, I mean, it was 9596.
So it was this one as well, wasn't it?
That was the away. Yeah, yeah.
Well, they had it for the seasonbefore, didn't they as well.
So it was 9495 as well, wasn't? It yeah, continue on with kids.

(52:50):
I like it. I like it.
I like the old trap but it was abit different.
And good memories as well. Looking at nostalgic.
Yeah, Sharp. Yeah, you don't mess with Sharp,
do you? I mean like.
What the Hell's a Snapdragon? Yeah, sounds like AWWF move,
doesn't it? A.

(53:10):
Triple Snapdragon suit. He's got him in the Snapdragon.
All right, let's go on to Manchester this season.
Bit underwhelming, wasn't it? It is a bit and again I just
when I look at the these kits, Ijust look straight at the Adidas
logo and it's just horrible. Do you?

(53:31):
Reckon in the future those logoswill get a little bit bigger.
Probably. I mean, it'll go, it'll go the
size of a Toblerone for next season.
I don't mind the white and blackdetailing on the collar and the
cuffs. Yeah, I like to say that's
that's nice. To be honest, when I was in the
sports shop I didn't even, I didn't even look at it, take

(53:54):
much notice on this one. I haven't taken much notice of
Manches Manchester United shirtsin the over the last few years,
but there seems to be a bit of detailing, seems to be a bit of
a pattern going on there. It's not bad.
It's not. It's not like wow.
No, it's very underwhelming. Like, you can't really do much
with a Man United. OK, OK, Thumbs up for the Home

(54:19):
9596. Yeah, Oh.
If I could pick a middle thumb of undecided for the the modern
show, I would. How would how would the modern
one look like with a sharp? Do you think that would change?
Oh yeah, it would. Yeah.
And if it had the trickle or not, trickle or trefoil, sorry,

(54:41):
it would look different. It Thumbs down for the Home Show
for 2526. I think I'm going to join you.
Yeah, even. A reluctant.
Thumbs down. Yeah, I'm going to go.
Thumbs up 9596. Good memories.
Not bad memories, Liverpool fan,but like, obviously nostalgia.
Good times. Yeah, just a different era,

(55:05):
wasn't it? All right, cool.
All right, move on on Middlesbrough.
Hell's going on with you? Whoa.
Middlesbrough All right, Castor,Yeah, there's.
Like a crab stick there. All right, let's talk about,
let's, let's forget about, let'stalk about 909596.

(55:26):
Yeah. Got a lot of time for this one.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's.
Like a warm mug of stoop. This shirt, you know, it's,
yeah, it's nice. To see it can't be.
Yeah, I like the big white collar of this as well.
Have they? Recently just gone to Castor.
Have they? Because I.

(55:47):
I think so, because weren't they?
Who were they before let? Me have a look oh they were live
they. Were Adidas, weren't they?
Oh, no, they were. Yeah.
Then there was Hummel, Adidas era, Cool they won't live.
Was it era era. Is that how you said they would
do it? Then from 1994 to 2009, Adidas,

(56:09):
2009 to 2018, Hummel 2018 to 22,area again, 22 to 25 and Castor,
that was last. Even last year's Middlesbrough
wasn't that, yeah, I mean nice last year, although away.
This year they've gone back a bit of the throwback as well,
but we're talking about the homeanyway.

(56:29):
What's the away even 3? Plays the way is a kind of a
throwback to Let's have a look what.
Well, the light blue or the purple and.
Voice 6 like the blue. Oh yes, so it's like a the dark
blue and black stripes. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that

(56:51):
always works by the phone. Yeah, OK.
The the the home shirt this piece and borough fans is pretty
gross. If I'm honest, fan the badge go
back to the round badge. Yeah, the badge doesn't look
right, but I think there's just too much white on there in the

(57:13):
middle. Get rid of this, get rid of this
uni bit shit. Yeah, what is that about?
What's underneath it, Jamesy? 0% mission.
Oh my. God.
What's that trying to be like? Save the planet or.
Yeah, lose all your money, but save the trees.
Yeah, 9596, yeah, definitely thumbs up.

(57:35):
Love to get that one. I've got the season afterwards.
I've got this one, it is nice. Yeah, yeah, it just looks nice.
This season's dog shit. Yeah.
Sorry, borrow pants. All right.
Yeah, all right, Newcastle, how could you take?
Oh, this, this Newcastle best shirt of all time, Newcastle's

(58:02):
9596 home shirt. Just everything about it I
adore. So smart, wasn't it?
Yeah, from the collar, from the sponsor, the badge.
I remember my brother had it andI was very.
There's. Me rocking around with rocking
around with that behind me. The Liverpool, yeah, he's

(58:22):
wearing, he's wearing that. But again, prolific moments in
Premier League history. Mate, that game, the four,
three-game was incredible. Yeah, this is sheer as.
Best of these? Yes.
No, it was you're a second, second year.
OK. She's been imposing.
Yeah. Les Ferdinand, David Janola.

(58:44):
Yeah, right. Such a good team.
Yeah, the only thing I don't like about this season's kit is
the element of light blue. Yeah, I didn't do it here.
No, I know it looks a bit. It's too electric.
What about the fuzzy 3D kind of?You need 3D glasses for the

(59:04):
stripes. Yeah.
And I don't like that either. I do like, I've always liked
Newcastle kits. I always have.
But this one, I know they had the kind of light blue element
in the 90s, early 90s, like the green, all kind of kits like
Mickey Quinn and Mark McGee and all that kind of era.

(59:27):
It's OK. Do you know what?
I like both of them. I'm going to shut up.
I'm going to be I'm going to be a tune fan just for today.
I like both of them. It's just.
So it's yeah. So it's.
Dial it down a bit. So it's kind of like, yeah, I
mean, they got a blue in the 9099, 2002, 1000 and 2001.

(59:50):
They had like blue in the collarfor the kit with Michael Owen as
well, didn't they? Yeah, Yeah, they did you
actually. Yeah, I had that.
I had that one. OK, so now you've said that
mate, you've kind of twisted my arm a little bit more and I
think Adidas and Newcastle are amatch made in heaven.
Do you think, do you think it would look better if the Adidas

(01:00:12):
was Adidas lettering Adidas get rid of that.
Yeah. If they have the same as they've
got on that 9596. Yeah, I do.
I do. Yeah, that would change.
It's the subtle things, doesn't it?
But things have changed, like toperspective.

(01:00:34):
I think that would look a lot better.
And if you had a. Get rid of that bullshit sponsor
as well. What's that sponsor?
Is that that betting company as well?
Well, they've also got the seller trophy this weekend,
haven't they, in Newcastle? I don't even know what it is.
Is it betting company so we're talking pre season tournaments?
I'm not sure. Not sure.

(01:00:54):
Can Newcastle brown ale on that?Yeah, yeah, I just.
Say that changes everything. It does, I just think they
should be sponsored all the timeby that one sponsor and just
change the kit around it. So like if you get Newcastle
Brown Ale, you're sponsored for life by Newcastle Brown Ale.
Yeah. Yeah Arsenal, JVC, Man United

(01:01:15):
was Shark, just keep it there. Just changes the whole dynamic.
It's it's still a thumbs up fromboth.
I've covered it up by my face, but what do you think?
The yellow sleeve kind of sponsor as well?
What's what's? Horrible.
Yeah, horrible. Yeah, All right.
I think we've got thumbs up for both.
I, I don't mind this. It's this.

(01:01:37):
I'll change a lot, but I think it's a good effort.
It's scraped. Through.
Yeah, cool. All right, let's move on to not
an emporist. You know what?
That was going to be my shirt ofthe year, but they had that
bloody sponsor. What is Bellies?

(01:02:00):
Do you know what? I'm exactly the same and I made
it public that this shirt was going to be shirt of the year.
If you didn't add that sponsor it would look incredible.
I saw, I saw, I saw it on Instagram, this sponsor.
And I was just like, yeah, I didsay, yeah, I was just like, oh
really? I thought they were going to be
sponsorless. That would look so good.

(01:02:22):
Yeah, or put Shipston's on it, or Labatt, Labatt just for a
season and you would be on to a winner.
The template of that shirt, the badge is beautiful.
So Forest fans, do not get me wrong, you have a beautiful
shirt, but your sponsor is horrendous.
That ruined it for me. I was like so happy when I first

(01:02:42):
saw. I was like, cool, this is we're
on to a winner. Like, I mean, I love a
throwback. Like was it 909293?
Yeah, yeah, I'm looking at that now.
Shipsteins, the bats, the art that yeah, King.
I I don't know. Yeah, that sponsor kind of did
it for me. It's been like comparing it to,

(01:03:04):
do you know, the MLS shirts? You're like, oh, that's a shirt.
And then you see the sponsor andit just like, yeah, yeah, just
some random. That was a shirt. 9596 forest.
I've got that one summer, yeah. Nice.
It's yeah, yeah, it's nice. I've always liked Forest.

(01:03:29):
I've always liked their kits. I just think Ian Wine, Steve
Stone, you know, is. I like the 90, the 9697, so
you've got the black in the middle.
In the middle I've got that kit as opposed to that one.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Very disappointed about this
year. I like it, but if they could do

(01:03:50):
it without a sponsor that'd be brilliant.
Yeah. Are they going?
To do that. No, I don't think they will
because they've released the away kit with it on as well,
haven't they? I like there is a little bit of
a nostalgic element to their sponsor.
It looks a bit kind of old school, but it just doesn't fit
the kit brief for me. What?

(01:04:10):
Is the what is bellies? Anyone.
I don't know. I don't know mate.
Pissed off? Let me have a look.
I thought at first it was Bailey's and I thought.
I think gambling company pissed right off.
Yeah, no, definitely no. Right.
So yeah. Home shirt for 9596 thumbs up.
New shirt 2526 thumbs down mate.Oh, I'm going thumbs up for

(01:04:33):
both, even though that's the answer.
E-mail made a big song and danceabout it.
Said that I just ruined it for me.
Yeah, it's ruined. So you're going thumbs down for
the Yeah, if I need could someone can remove that sponsor?
Yeah, sell it as just a sponsor list.
You know, you could probably getone of those Aliexpress shirts

(01:04:55):
without the sponsor. Somebody's talk.
Someone was talking to me the other day about getting this
from Aliexpress, and I was just oh, OK, cool, enjoy.
But you think you'd probably getit without the sponsor?
Oh, yeah, yeah. The contender.
It was the contender for sure. The season, probably.
Yeah, it still is for this season, but just disappointed

(01:05:17):
the sponsor. Now it's a gambling sponsor.
I just don't. I don't need.
Nope. No.
OK, all right. Had enough for that one.
All right. QPR view from 9596 era.
I quite like this year's kit. I need because the copy bet

(01:05:42):
sponsor has like a football as the O.
No, just the fact that it's justa bit old school, isn't it?
Like I quite like it, it's a bitclassy, I love that compact view
from kit and in long sleeve it looks lush.
Yeah. I've got Trevor Sinclair.

(01:06:02):
I want them. I've only got the.
I've got that one. Oh yeah, what care?
That was a crack at the away. Very nice as well as wear silky.
I'd love to get that that home 1.
Yeah, I've got the home one. It's nice, It's nice.
Yeah, it's very smart. But you know what I'm I'm just

(01:06:24):
simply going to go thumbs up forboth.
I think QPR have done quite a good.
It's do you know why I like the new seasons QPR kit is because
it fits the club's brief. It's blue and white hoops,
there's nothing extra to it, there's nothing fancy about it,
it's just a standard QPR kit. But they've done it nice.

(01:06:46):
It's nice colours and I like theI like the white on the sleeves.
It's smart. OK, so you're going thumbs up.
Yeah, sorry to disappoint you. I'm going thumbs up.
Thumbs down I'm not a fan of. Fair enough.
All right, cool. Who are we moving on to now?
Surprise, surprise. All right, talk to me about this

(01:07:09):
is this season's where we spoke. We've spoken no like so many
times about the shirt I'm wearing.
We could talk all day about it. Absolute classic.
Talk to me about this seasons. What was your feeling?
This is me interviewing you now about?
What was Woody's reaction when he saw that kit reveal?
I was really disappointed if I'mhonest.
Yeah, yeah, Macron. As as I look at it now, Macron

(01:07:31):
have done some nice kits for us,but I'll look at it now.
It just looks quite boring. How high up is that badge?
Is that real? Yeah, it is.
And they are high. Up nearly it's nearly to to to
like to show. Yeah, I like, I like the fact
it's got SWFC as that kind of jacquard print through the

(01:07:52):
stripes. It's nice.
The back of it is plain blue, soit's not stripes on the back.
It's blue shorts, blue socks with a white top.
So the kit itself looks OK, but I like a bit more effort in the
kit to be honest. I mean, there's a little bit of
gold detailing around the Macronbadge as well, which is.

(01:08:15):
Spoken into that. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It just doesn't seem you know. I think if you take if you take
the badge off, it's just a standard box tablet template,
isn't it? Yeah, that's what I mean.
It just looks a bit cheap. Together.
There was no sponsor on the siteI've borrowed the pictures from.

(01:08:36):
So what is the sponsor, Neil? Betting, Mr. Vegas and it's
bright green. OK, well I'll put that up once I
get a photo of it to share. It's.
Horrible. Badge.
No badge, I just. I miss the old badge.
Yeah, I mean, we could go into awhole episode of your What's

(01:09:00):
Going On with Sheffield Wednesday.
We spiked before we recorded, didn't we?
About what's going on at the moment.
It's pretty tragic. Yeah, it just feels it though in
the kit release as well, mate. It just doesn't feel like
there's been any emotional heartand soul put into the kit, you
know? We're not.
Fans aren't wanting to buy it. We're not proud of it, you know.

(01:09:21):
Have you you didn't pre-order any kit this?
I have the third kit which is the commemorative kit for the
198586 season. Has it been released since the
end of this? Month and I've not seen what it
looks like. Oh goodness.
Oh shit. It's already paid for.

(01:09:44):
What's going on with the away? Yeah, horrible.
Just don't talk to me about it. Honestly, I want to.
Look at a tough spot. Yeah, the the one on the left,
the home ship for 9596 is beautiful.
I've got a few of these and I'vegot a long sleeve match worn
Chris Waddle and you know, beautiful shirt.

(01:10:04):
If you compare, just look at thetwo mate right?
Just honestly. 30 years they think things get things get
better in age that's. What I mean, just look at that,
it looks like a school kit. I'm.
Released if they if Puma broughtthat out as the new kit.

(01:10:25):
Tomorrow you would be like, oh, cool.
Yeah, with the old badge. Yeah, yeah, the black and
yellow. Shirt I'm wearing, yeah, it'd be
like, that's a decent shirt. Yeah.
Sorry, it stood the test of time, I think.
But yeah, this is not a disappointment.
No, it's it's, it's a thumbs up for the home and a big thumbs

(01:10:48):
down. I was going.
To say I shouldn't, it's no point me even asking what you.
Yeah, press the red. Button all right, going the
same. All right, cool.
And next Southampton. Yeah, I I'm a big fan of
Southampton's kits this year. Puma.

(01:11:09):
Yeah, yeah, I like their their away as well.
They're yellow and blue away. I would actually, I think in
championships, just shirts of the season.
Yeah, they are very nice. Right.
Haven't they? I just, I like both of these.
I can remember this was my firstkind of time of seeing

(01:11:31):
Southampton, a Sanderson kit andI was a bit like, no, it looked
a bit too Sheffield Wednesday, but red and white.
I was like a bit like, it was like Sheffield United had made a
home shirt and kept the sponsor.I love that they've got the home
away and 3rd they've they're allthrowbacks.
Yeah, I'd I'm a big fan of both,to be honest.

(01:11:52):
Yeah. Yeah.
The badge is great for Southampton, like on the 96th
the 9596. Yeah, we'd love a big badge.
Lots of stripes as well, which is busy.
Quite smart, but it's not. It's not like it's just again
straightforward Southampton playing red and white stripes.

(01:12:13):
It's quite bog standard, but they've done it quite well.
The home shirt this season. Pretty cool.
I think the sponsor looks all right for Piers.
I was going to say, I was going to say they, it looks all right,
doesn't it? They've they've done it.
It's justice. I think the Southampton's kit
has been like that, that at one point, hasn't it?
It's an Admiral kit, wasn't it? And they had those kind of

(01:12:34):
stripes years ago. It's a throwback to what?
Is it 8485 or something like right?
Or even like 8182. Yeah, OK.
Yeah, it's a thumb. It is a thumbs up for both.
I think they're they're very smart.
Southampton is a good kit. Yeah, I'll tell you when I saw,

(01:12:57):
I mean, I love like, I love it when a team does a nod like
their video. Did you see the video?
The bedroom. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, sometime, yeah, even
saying that Fulham's away shirt, the video for that as well.
I love that one. I'm not saying that, yeah.
You do a throwback. Oh, it's the green.

(01:13:18):
It's the green away shirt. Yeah, it's like with a teletext
and things like that she borrowed from me.
Jonesy TM in the corner, damn it.
Yeah, I reckon, Yeah, absolutely.
Yeah. If I bought these days, I would

(01:13:39):
probably buy that one. But yeah, there we go.
Just to post it in packaging. This just kills me.
All right, Tottenham. Is that just.
Is that a training top or is that the actual shirt?
I don't know. I have to think about it when I.
When? I put that together, these are
both grim. It's so like going back to 9596.

(01:14:02):
I was so disappointed when that Tottenham shirt came out, going
from Umbro Holston to that. I like the purple away kit they
had. Yeah, the away kits, they nailed
the yeah. And the yellow and blue.
But that was never their home isgrim, isn't it?

(01:14:24):
Yeah. Yeah, I was never a fan of the
that. Bad as well.
Oh, this is quite a quick one for me.
I'm. Going to say this is quite a
quick that. How much effort have they put in
this season's what a lot of dog shit.
It just doesn't seem like their kits change at all though.
Like it's just white red AIA. Like like boring.

(01:14:48):
Get a little bit of identity Tottenham.
Like every time you wear a new kit they just all merge into the
same shirt. Like if I was a Spurs fan I'd be
bored as hell. You wouldn't even bother buying
it, would you? Take take the take the cock off
there and and then you've just got the night.
It's just a legend shirt. It's just like.

(01:15:10):
And put him up front. Yeah.
Rich Allison, Yeah. There's a quick one there.
Yeah. Double thumbs down for that one.
Yeah. All right, cool.
Like moving on. Where are we?
West Ham. Sorry.
I found the West Ham one becausethe sponsorless one because I

(01:15:30):
couldn't find a picture. The only picture I could find
with the Boyle one is the player, like leaning on.
And I don't want to already put someone's head in there as well.
All right, so 9596, the pony. I had this one.
You had this one. Have you got this?
One. I got it yeah yeah, I like it
yeah. I liked West Ham's kits in the

(01:15:51):
90s. I think they had smart.
I think I preferred the 9394 onewith the round collar and the
Dagenham motors. I still like this one, though.
That's it. Yeah, I prefer that one, but
again, this kit had the kind of white shorts and then the stripe

(01:16:12):
socks, so it's still a smart kitfor me.
Badge. Yeah, I do look at that Super
shield. Yes nice.
It just looks like a classic football kit, a dag and a motors
as well as quite a good sponsor this season is I mean, I've put
it up without the sponsor. Was it Boyle Sports or
something? Yeah, just is that is that

(01:16:33):
betting company as well. I'm, I'm probably going to say
yeah or it might be a sports management.
Is it? Boiling as soon as I put boiling
it comes up gambling's company all right surprise surprise all
right so out without the sponsorit just get rid of the badge
it's. Terrible though, isn't it?

(01:16:53):
It's like we live in a day and age where we're encouraging
people to not bet or bet responsibly and every football
shot is betting companies now I.Thought they were done, Are they
not done? It's a few more.
Years thought they were, yeah, but this, this shirt for West
Ham is probably one of the worstones I've seen in quite a while.
Should ask Darren Booty what hisopinion?
Was yeah. Did he say he liked this one?

(01:17:19):
I'm not sure. I just, I'm not moved by at all.
It just it's there's nothing to it.
It looks like a club polo shirt, like when you get off the coach.
Whack dag the motors on there, change your mind.
No, it needs more Clara. It needs more Clara and Blue.
You know, it's a bit. It's boring, isn't it?
You'd be, yeah, you'd be like, that comes out, you're like,

(01:17:41):
that's it. They have the fancy video, you
know, they spend thousands of pounds coming up with all these,
you know, and you're just like, is that it?
Yeah, this is a bit boring. It's very similar to like
Chelsea's, kind of like put a bit more effort into it.
It's not, I mean, what's the what's the theme this year?
Is it sat in a CAF with like, like Jelly deals?

(01:18:03):
Yeah. But I don't know.
All right, I got a thumbs up for9596.
Yeah. Yeah.
Crap. All right, you as well.
Yeah. Cool.
All right, next Wimbledon. I am so happy they're back with
Lotto. And I love that shirt.

(01:18:23):
Yeah, long sleeve as well. And you've got 969596 with core.
I think that was an in house, don't know.
What the He wasn't Lotto. Lotto is the year before because
when I was putting this together, let me just check.
And then they went back to Lottoagain for 9798, didn't they?

(01:18:45):
Yeah, I'll just check Wimbledon because when I was putting
together, yeah, it was I wanted to get the right Yeah Core 9596.
So they went from in in house crazy gang to cool and to Lotto
Naughty 697. So what was cool?
Did they make any other shirts? They did, yeah.

(01:19:07):
Oh, Ipswich, they did. Yeah, they did.
Ipswich Town. Yeah, it was good Ipswich.
Brentford, a lot of Scottish teams.
St. Mirren.
They sponsored sponsored air. What do you think of the 9596?

(01:19:27):
Yeah, classic Wimbledon. You know, LNX the badge.
Yeah. Just lovely.
Yeah. Love it.
Yeah. Yeah.
Always like Wimbledon? Yeah, what about the seasons?
Beautiful. I'll tell you what, when I saw
them, I was like core, I'd love to get an AFC Wimbledon core.
Blimey, I mean, do you like the the away the?

(01:19:48):
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Beautiful.
You know, Wimbledon, like classic.
Don't forget your roots, you know, and and that's exactly how
it's done. It's remembering the good kits
you've had before. The badge is brilliant and the
colours are great. Yes, please.
Sort of put the long sleeve on there because yeah, it looks so
good. All right, double thumbs up,

(01:20:11):
girl. All right, I think we've reached
the end. Let's get out of here.
What a rush. I mean mentally exhausting
because I'm looking at how disappointing shirts are now,
but also when you compare them with now on some of them, I've

(01:20:31):
also realised how some of the shirts in 9596 were also
disappointing. One eye opening episode, Jonesy.
Yeah, yeah, very. There we go.
But a fun one. It was good.
We need to do, we need to do more kit comparison episodes,
But I think that was quite poignant because the season
starts next weekend, because it's Community Shield this

(01:20:52):
weekend. Yes, charity.
Shields and Palace and the pool.I still call it charity.
So do I. I know I still.
Call it Coca-Cola Cup. Yeah, so do I, Yeah, Yeah, I do
too, mate. I'll tell you what, what was the
you've just shared on your Instagram?
Is it is it 9798? What was the 98?
What was the magazine you've just shared on Match?

(01:21:14):
Magazine. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah. What year was that one?
Yeah, it's August 98, so I thinkthat would have been the 9899
season. Tell you what, yeah. 15th of
August though, that magazine came out and that's they didn't
have some of the kits still known in the the obviously the

(01:21:36):
magazine. Just just looking there, Aston
Villa, a question mark on the away, yeah.
Yeah, I was like, well, like, it's season that probably
already started that weekend. There we go.
Yeah, there you go. Yeah, that would be a good one
to look back at in the future aswell.
That was an iconic year, I think, for kids.
Yeah, we. Need to do a match magazine?

(01:21:59):
Don't we pile here. But yeah, we've had some some
fantastic feedback this week, guys.
We've had some great emails, some great DMS obviously we've
had from Mr JB who listens to the pod.
Just saying that how well he like we do the podcasts, how it

(01:22:22):
makes him want to use his Super Nintendo and breakout FIFA97.
I mean, if, if what we do inspires you to be a kid again,
we're doing it right, Jamesy, isthat right?
Thank you. Yeah, It's, it's.
It's so nice, Yeah. To wake up and see these
messages and things like that because.
Yeah, as I said, we just do it because we love the 90s, don't

(01:22:44):
we? We want to share.
You know, we're very passionate, aren't we?
Yeah, It's. Like if we're helping you relive
your childhood and you're going back on eBay and looking at
Premier League sticker albums oryou're buying a pack of Pogs,
you know, Yeah. Or it's the booty.
Oh, it's, it's what we're doing it for.
And it's really humbling for when you guys send us emails

(01:23:04):
because you, you shared with us,didn't you?
Yeah. Even when putting this together,
I'm like going back and like, you know, it's not a chore.
This is like looking at kits. Yeah.
I yeah, you know, I'm going to be talking 90s.
This is like. Yeah, but if you've got any
suggestions as well, we've had acouple of suggestions for future
episodes. But yeah, if anyone else has got
any, just just send us a messageon Instagram.

(01:23:28):
I think an episode we need to look at in the future because
Matt Brown sent us an e-mail we've and we've had a couple of
other people mention computer games from the 90s.
Football, yeah. So maybe we do need to go a
little bit sports for a few episodes maybe.
I'll fire up the spectrum. Yeah, that's going to be a tough

(01:23:50):
edit for you mate, I'm not goingto lie.
Steve Jobs video game episode. Absolutely.
Yeah, yeah. I could talk about Championship
Manager for hours. Absolutely.
Yeah. Yeah.
