(00:12):
Hello and welcome to that 90s Premier League podcast episode
23 Woody. How are you mate?
23 Very well, thanks mate. Yeah, how, how are you with that
Husky introduction there 23? It's.
Like a darts. Game going well mate, going

(00:32):
well. Good man.
That that time of the week to talk 90s.
Yeah, all, all in yellow as well, mate.
I mean, we certainly covered thedress code today.
There is there is no reason we're both in yellow.
By the way, guys, for you watching on YouTube or
listening, but well, it still looks good, right?

(00:53):
Yeah, absolutely. Yeah.
Stand out, don't we? Look at.
That, I mean, there is a trend though that we are going to be
talking about in this episode and there's a reason why Jonesy
tell our beautiful listeners andviewers what episode 3 is all
about. Yes, we're going to delve into
some of the third shirts from the 90s, aren't we, mate?

(01:15):
Yeah, we this is on the back burner, hasn't it?
How how was that rabbit hole, mate?
Dangerous it. Took a lot and a lot of WhatsApp
messages to and fro and from us going did you know this one?
Did you see this? Do you remember that?
Yes, it's hard, isn't it? Like as I said, we got, we got a

(01:36):
little list there when we you'vegot five, I've got 5, but we're
going to talk about others as well, but trying to cull fire
out. It's like everything's just all
scrabbled out. Yeah, it is literally like being
at the Judges Houses X Factor. You have to make the cut, you
have to make the decision. But who?
And we'll find out. Cool.

(01:58):
Anyway, what are you wearing anyway?
Let's get what are we wearing? Well, I am wearing Aston Villas
third shirt from the 9293 Premier League season, but it
was also used in the Football League season the year before.
So yeah, effectively it was there away the year before.

(02:20):
You will notice the huge Aston Villa sort of print faded in the
jacquard of the badge under the MiTo copiers.
The badge is the retro Aston Villa badge.
This is very Brazil, very kind of.
Yeah, kind of Crystal Palace. You know, it's kind of like the
light blue and the the light blue and the gold I.

(02:43):
Think when you sent me a messagesaying what what shirts on your
list or whatever we were wearingand you said the villa one, I
think I responded, I regret selling that sad face you did.
You don't know why I sold it. It's a cracker.
What was going on? Yeah, I needed money just to
kind of for us to live like. Feed the house for.
Living, yeah. Feed the Feed the Sun.

(03:04):
Yeah, that's got some money thisweek for your boy.
He sold a David Platt match. Form that's that's if I could do
a list we should do an episode one day shirt regrets that would
be on there 100. Percent guys do you guys if you
want to hear a shirt regret because what we'll do is we'll

(03:27):
come out to you for Strat regret, We will, we want to know
I reckon. There'll be a cracking episode.
Yeah, I think every episode we've got one, right.
Do you so far? Yeah, I've got a lot, yeah.
Anyway, what are you wearing, myesteemed colleagues?
Am I left? He was right.
Yes, I thought I'd try on the Blackburn Rivers this week mate.

(03:50):
Who are they by the way? Before you proceed, I love the
fact now we are getting commentson Instagram and DMS about you
being a closet Blackburn fan. It's almost like this is what
the world wants to see. This is going to get big.
This is going to be almost as big as who shot Mr. Burns on The

(04:11):
Simpsons. Is that going to be Jonesy's
going to be a Rovers fan? Just like the shirt and the
comfy tell you what there was I tried on a Yeah, I tried.
Sorry, sorry guys, it's the Blackburn Robbers 3rd 1993 to
95. I will speak more about it
because it's on my list because it's a rare one, but tell you

(04:31):
what Essex very comfy. I tried on a few shirts actually
yeah and this was the most comfy1 so as you.
Can see it looks very, it looks like a kind of a bowling shirt.
Do you know what I mean? When they've got like the thick
panels down the side, like if you carried on with the buttons
down the middle, that'd be like a stripe.

(04:53):
Yeah. Sutton stripe.
Stripe. Anyway, beautiful decision.
Yeah. Can you, can you just tell me
though, Jamie? Sorry mate.
Can you tell me what you've got behind you there?
Because you've got 2 beautiful shirts.
I know you're going to go into detail later, but just give us a
brief expose. Girl, so I've got the Liverpool.

(05:16):
What's that? 94 to 95?
I think there was the 96 as well.
Nice. What called the gold?
I'd say gold, I think. I've mentioned on the previous
episode it was by it's one of myfirst ever Liverpool shirts.
I've actually got for Christmas I think.
What I love about that shirt is the long sleeve.

(05:37):
They still had the three stripeson the elbow, didn't they?
Yeah, I've got that. It's almost like elbow.
Yeah, there's a famous one of the match programme, I think.
Was it John Barnes or Jamie Reddor something wearing it?
But yeah, you're right, it looksglorious in the long sleeve.
Yeah. And then just over there I've
got the Southampton 3rd as well.Looks like a leisure top.

(06:00):
We'll go into more detail later on, but.
Yeah. Yeah, I tried it on, took it off
straight away, but we'll go intomore detail work because did not
breathe. All right.
All right. You got to start because I think
we're going to go into start of the week.
Firstly, we've got a new binder.Jonesy, OH.

(06:25):
Great, look at that. It's not an upgrade, it's not a
replacement, it's just a, it's just, I'm giving the other one a
break, right? I love it though.
I said to you this before, before we went on record, £1.50
from Vinted. There you go.
I don't know what season this will be.
This would probably be. It looks like 9495. 9495, yeah.

(06:47):
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
Right, it's got a collar. Oh yeah.
Just noticed. Oh, there you go, evil eye.
Yeah. All right.
Well this is my new start of theweek binder so.
Excellent. Weeks start of the week.
So Manchester United won their first Premier League title in 92

(07:11):
to 93 season. Their purse for winning the
league that year was 815,210 lbs.
Now roll on four. Yeah, roll on four years when
they won it again. Obviously they want it before
that, but four years later, justto show you the difference,

(07:32):
Manchester United won £2,114,300.
So we're starting to see a substantial financial growth in
the Premier League. Liverpool last season in the 24
to 25 season when they won the Premier League, won 174.9

(07:52):
million. Wow.
So it just goes to show you mate, how much money is in the
Premier League now. And just for the fact that Man
United won 800,000 back in 92, that's probably a well, I can
imagine that was a lot of money.Do you think if you're a player
in the 90s, you'd be pissed off now?

(08:13):
You would hugely, hugely with the with the wages that yeah.
Yeah. And but that's why a lot of
makes us makes them sound like they're sort of tramps.
They're not, but that's why they're always doing like these
kind of like after dinner speeches or like punditry work
because you can't just retire onthat sort of salary unless you

(08:35):
kind of were involved in property and there wasn't all of
that foundation of like, financial information support.
So yeah, I'd be kicking myself. Oh well that's a good step mate.
Thanks, mate. Yeah, there you go.
All right, cool. Welcome to Pop of the Tops.
Couldn't use top of the tops Grandma pop.

(08:56):
Of the top. Pop of the tops.
All right, cool. There we go.
Welcome. So yeah, just in there kind of a
countdown. I was thinking do we do top
five? But I think we're just going to
do a 5 because it's so hard to pick a number one.
I think I'm just kind of becauseI'll be there, like I think the

(09:16):
ink on my fire would just run out with all the crosses I've
done. So oh, So yeah, starting off
with a Southampton 3rd, as I mentioned, the one behind me,
the 9495. Yeah, I'll tell you.
Can you? Can you ever remember that being
worn I? Can't, no.

(09:36):
So it was only worn once againstCrystal Palace in November 1994
and a nil nil draw. There is never actually
acknowledged of the third shirt, even though I've got it as a
third shirt. It was only as a leisure shirt.
What's your opinion of only wornonce shirt?
Do you find as a shirt collectorit's a shame or do you just like

(09:58):
it and make even more unique thefact has been worn?
Yeah, I like, I like the fact. Yeah.
Because as I said, by look at that, I mean, I don't know, it's
yeah, it looks like a leisure shirt.
It looks like. I don't know.
Do you think it looks like a goalkeeper shirt or?
A little bit. I mean, Pony started to go that

(10:20):
way, didn't they? But.
Yeah, that collar, it's like theCoventry one.
If I lift it up, it's. Got oh is it?
Yeah, that's why I tried it on before, before I as I'm not
wearing this. That Coventry one was pony,
wasn't it? As well the the Victor Collar 10
dear. So I've got here that, so there
were witnesses before it was released, there was rumours that
the shirt was going to would be the de facto away kit in the cup

(10:42):
competitions, but that never happened.
So it was only worn once in the league and then that was it.
What's your opinion of the scaleof yellow to blue and then?
Black No. No.
Bit weird in it. It is, yeah.
It's good to have in the collection.
Oh yeah. I mean, that's why it makes it
look like a goalkeeper top, I think.

(11:04):
The black collar. Yeah, There you go.
Do you know what I mean? Put Bruce Grubler on that.
Give me a little bit more detail.
Saints badge? Is it flat embossed?
There you go. It's very, Yeah, It's a bit
flat, Yeah. You know, got the pony dimplex.

(11:25):
Dimplex. Yeah.
So what do you think? Do you reckon they could have
made that? What about if you put like
generally, you know, badge to the badge to the side?
Yeah, yeah. Put some stripes in there maybe?
Yeah, I think. I don't know.
Do you reckon I was just a pony?Just had a template lying

(11:46):
around. Do you know for some Sunday
league kit if the. Black.
Yeah, it does look a bit lazy. If the black bits were swapped
with yellow, I think it looks different.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, the trim's nice.
But it's funny that they obviously born once but you go
on the Southampton website you can order a re release of it,

(12:08):
no? Way.
Yeah. Strange.
See, the more yeah, the the better though, I suppose.
Isn't it so? It's, you know how obviously
Pony, we was chatting about earlier Pony doing the re
releases. They're doing re releases on
pretty much everything. Yeah, but as I said, yeah, I
don't know. What are your thoughts on that

(12:29):
one mate? It's, I like it for nostalgic
reasons, but it's a thumbs down on design.
I think it's one of those shirts, though, you have to like
because of its kind of uniqueness.
And for a collector, it's more kind of wanted, isn't it?
Yeah. It just doesn't, yeah.

(12:50):
Yeah, as I say, I'm on a kind ofa Building 495 collector's trek.
So if I can see like, like I'd love to get the actual away one.
It's like the blue because I've got the, I've got the home.
You just need to get the away. And obviously this, I saw this
come up and I just had to buy it.
But as I said, not not one of the best, but good to have in
the collection. Yeah, I agree.

(13:12):
All right, thumbs down you go. Oh, stunts.
Yeah, this is a tough start for Southampton.
Excellent. All right, let's get on to your.
There you go. Is that the one?
Wow, I've do you know what? Now he's done.
It's exactly the same as about five times.

(13:33):
Completely forgot this. Oh.
Yeah, welcome to the pony template.
Welcome to the pony template. Welcome to the pony pod.
What does pony mean? We've been told before.
Oh. Gaz What did he say?

(13:57):
Play place of New York, Positionof New York.
Sorry, what does it mean now you've tested me?
Dude, you've got to find the answer because I sound like an
idiot. I.
Don't know if you. Take a love, New York.

(14:19):
Oh geez, product of New York. Product of New York, right?
Thank God for that place of New York.
What a goon. It all out it all out mate.
No, leave it in. I deserve this, right?
So. I've spoken to a few West Ham
fans, Harry and Darren. They've obviously confirmed that

(14:40):
this is probably up there of oneof West Ham's greatest kits from
the 90s. I'm tending to agree.
I'm very much on the fence with West Ham though with having
light blue. I like their light blue kits for
an away I'm. Just every time I've seen it.
I mean I can't remember them wearing it but I don't know if

(15:02):
I'm thinking that seeing Harry Redknapp wear it in a pre scene
like on the bench or something. Yeah.
Well, I think if you if so, I think because I've done a little
bit of like research into this kit.
So I looked and it looks as though they're wearing it in a
team photo, but I don't know if it's that or not because if you
look closer, it looks like it's got a collar on the team photo.

(15:26):
So I don't know if that's the leisure shirt and that's the
away. Of course.
Yeah, I don't. I don't know.
But is that another one of it? Like it looks like?
It does look like a legend, justlike the Southampton 1, isn't
it? It does.
What I love about this one is, though, the pony taping on the
sleeve in the Navy blue against the burgundy looks lush.

(15:47):
Yeah, the collar looks better than the Southampton one by, I
mean, already. Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the
centralised badges on this one for some reason and I think it's
because where the shirt goes in at the shoulders it almost
narrows everything down and squashes everything into the

(16:08):
kit, if that makes sense. Yes, just needs a bit of space.
Dagenham Motors is a great sponsor though.
In answer to your question, theydid wear this kit in the 9495
season. They wore it in round three in a
2 nil win against Wickham Wanderers away.

(16:28):
Thanks. Thanks Harry.
That was his update. But yeah, I think I can't
remember them wearing them in the Premier League.
It's still quite close Kit clashto Aston Villa, isn't it?
I just, I can't picture any players wearing it, but I can
picture Harry Rednap and Frank Lampard Senior.

(16:50):
Yeah, wearing it. Yeah, it had Nate.
It had maroon burgundy shorts and white socks I believe from
what I saw in the picture. I'm going to dig in on that one.
I'm I'm still giving it a thumbsup mate.
Yeah, for that one, comparing that one to the one I've got, I

(17:12):
prefer that one. Does your Southampton one have
the pony? Tape it on the shoulder it.
Does and in the middle, as well as on the blue under the yellow.
But it's got the stripe on the shoulder all the way down.
Oh sorry, not the typing note. It's got the party.
Kind of like the arrows going through it.

(17:32):
It doesn't have typing, no. I see.
If that had typing on the Southampton one that would
elevate it slightly more for me.I.
Reckon if that had the colour aswell.
Yeah, I think, yeah, I think yeah, I like it.
Yeah, I like it mate. I.
Could be quite happy to have that one in the collection.
There you go. So we've gone from 2 thumbs down

(17:53):
to two thumbs up. Excellent.
OK, what do we got? Surprise, surprise.
All right. There you go.
Blackburn Robbers. Welcome to the Background
Robbers podcast. This is the third.

(18:13):
It's the one I'm wearing. It's the the 93 to 95 third
shirt. I'm going to call you Jonesy
Dalgliesh from now on. So I I love this shirt.
Yeah, I do, yeah. Yeah, it's only ever worn once,
really. Yeah, it's one of those other
ones as well in the 1993 Coca-Cola Cup defeat to

(18:35):
Tottenham, but. It was carried on.
From SO 93 so it's worn. It was classed as a third shirt
for two seasons but only ever worn once.
I can't. Get my head around this being
yellow though. For Blackburn.
No sorry mate I just against Tottenham.
Why didn't they wear red and black?
Yeah, I don't know, but the game's on YouTube.
It's great. I love the but the name set and

(18:59):
stuff, like really good. But yeah.
What do you think? Classic Essex?
Yeah, I think. Do you think they could have
done something else with it? Do you know, it would have
looked really nice if they'd have had yellow and black
stripes, like the black and red stripes that would have looked
nice. Yeah.

(19:20):
Because the early 90's, the kindof when the Blackburn had, did
they have Ribero? Was it Ribero?
Yeah, before they got into the Prem, Yeah, they had the yellow.
Is it yellow? Was in blue?
Yes, it was yellow, I think. Yeah, but.
What the thought why of sorry mate Caricom.

(19:43):
No, I'm just saying there's a bit of so the season before, so
the first Premier League season,yeah.
Did you ever see this, the plainone?
The did you ever heard the story?
It was just a plain yellow 1. So before this kind of, they
just had plain yellow. Never, never sold.
I've got a bit of a thing on there from Museum of Jerseys.
Here we go. Do you remember that shirt?
That's the one. Yeah, so this is the ASICS on No

(20:05):
dad, the previous year the Rivera been the ASICS.
So the first Premier League season it was a one off shirt.
They only wore it in away game against Arsenal and I've got
from 2018 the tweet what someoneput after Museum of jerseys
shared it. So someone put the 9293 all
yellow kit was given to our school and we wore it in ours

(20:26):
our kit in the year 11 and 6. 40my.
God, not a great look for a Burnley school.
Was it really? And someone's replied, I
remember playing against your school when they wore that kit.
It was it was from an away game versus Arsenal.
But yeah, the third yellow and black shirt was willing only

(20:48):
once against first sight. Rovers given away to us.
I love that. Imagine that.
Yeah. And also though like that, that
almost became like a Friends Reunited episode there we were
like in like reconnecting peoplefrom schools over that one
football kit. It's incredible.

(21:10):
You know what I mean though, Yeah, you the Ribero one, right?
Yeah, yeah, absolutely. I'll share it.
Let me just. Yeah, same colour, just had kind
of like a blue, kind of a like blue stripes kind of down like a
thin, yeah, but very similar. But that's a great story like
that. Imagine going on, go on and

(21:31):
play. Are you playing against someone
wearing Blackburn Rovers in a Burnley school?
No, that's a great story mate. Great.
Great find on that one. Yeah.
So what are you thinking about this one?
I don't want it. Mine.
Oh it's a definite thumbs up forme.
I mean I I think Blackburn can do no wrong in the 90s if I'm
honest. No, that's why I got all the
kits mate. Yeah, I know.
It's just, you know, I like to wind you up every week.

(21:53):
But yeah, you are right. All right, on to your second
one. There we go.
What have we got? Well, it's Oldham athletics
third shirt from 91 to 93 for those of you that are listening
and it's a beautiful green ensemble, right?

(22:15):
You'll find the IT almost looks like mountain tree landscapes
like on the kit. So I came across this and nearly
spat out my Coco Pops to be honest, because I just can't
believe this kit existed for Oldham and that's no offence to

(22:37):
Oldham, but it's an absolute banger.
So Celtic had this kit, didn't they?
Jamesy? Do you remember that with the
Ford's people one on it? The sponsor?
Absolutely. This sponsors Bovist.
I don't know what Bovis is. I mean, is it like budget bread,
Hovis, Bovis? I don't know.

(22:57):
When you were researching this, did you find a picture of Dennis
Irwin wearing this shirt? I did, and that unsettled me
greatly because when you see someone that's been at the club
for so long wearing a different shirt, no matter what, it just,
it didn't cuddle around with my eyes.
Yeah, so I mean have. You ever seen have you ever seen

(23:19):
this one for sale? No.
And This is why, because I just think this is unreal for 1/3
shirt and Oldham have no business whatsoever in having a
green kit. Like, where on earth did that
come from? But like, like that whole kit

(23:39):
itself, like the actual templatefrom Umbro is unbelievable.
Yeah. And I mean, I don't know what
you think of this from a design perspective, Jones, if I just
think this typifies the 90s, like in one unbelievable shirt,
to be honest. I love it.
I love it. As I said, I like the kind of

(24:00):
the weird wacky shirts is this. I mean, you see on online,
there's like worst shirts of alltime.
This would probably appear on there, Yeah.
Yeah. Probably, yeah.
Yeah, I see how most of those shirts that appear on there I
actually like, but my. My view of these kits right, so

(24:23):
this was used in the season before the Premier League again,
so similar to the Aston Villa one, but what I love about like
not like Division One, division two, Division 3 football back in
the 90s, they had such wacky kits like they had the
Brighton's TSB one they had the whole Tigers one they had that

(24:46):
like. You know, I know, I know.
We're a Premier League podcast, but one day I think we venture
into Football League. Oh.
Yeah. Yeah, we have to, yeah, because
most of these kids so see like the carry ONS as well, wasn't
it? Yeah, yeah.
I mean, just thumbs up all roundfor this one from me I mean.

(25:07):
Yeah. Navy Green.
Navy Green. The green thumb blends in look.
They have dark green shorts and dark green socks with this I
believe as well which looked even better.
I will share that. That's a good pic though mate.
Sure. Can that shirt be going for on
classical blue shirts? Yeah, I reckon so.

(25:30):
I mean, that is incredible, but yeah.
I'm a fan, absolutely. Imagine rocking down the High
Street wearing that. Yeah, I know, I know.
It's like what? That is a real statement piece
of a shirt there, in my opinion,Yeah.
Yeah, love it. All right, next one back to
Southampton. Oh, James, you didn't.

(25:52):
What? Why are you?
Going to take this. No I've just I saw this about
8,000,000 times. It just looks Sheffield
Wednesday. All right, OK, so Sam, sorry.
Southampton 3rd 9597. Right?
Never worn. Really.
Yes, that's why I put it on there.
You try and look for a picture and that's the information I

(26:13):
found. There's one similar a few
seasons before or after. This one was never worn.
No. Yeah, that's why I put it on
there. I just don't put it on there.
Wow. Yeah.
So what could you echo? Kind of Yeah.
Yeah. Is that the colour?
Milton? South Hampton.
Yeah. Sorry, I could not find any
pictures wearing this. There was a similar one, a few.

(26:35):
There was a few seasons before or after.
I think what you want, you mightbe getting confused, but this
one was from the information I found.
Please, Saints fans, if you're watching and you'd know a
different, let me know. But from the information I got
there was this was never worn. Hang on a root and toot and
minute Jamesy, we have just discovered something X-Files

(26:57):
related here, right? That shirt that you're looking
at there is that not the exact same template of West Ham's at
cruise shirt that season? Also Pony.
That's where I put The X-Files and that music on.
Yeah, sorry, because they had because they had a white one

(27:17):
after this one, which is very similar.
But I think you are right. Let me just delve into the
archive here for West Ham. I think you actually spot on,
mate. Let me have a look.
Let's have a look maybe. Oh.
Is there a subtle difference? There probably will be.

(27:40):
Yeah, yeah, it's, it's a centralbadge.
Let me. Yeah, it's a yeah.
Go on. Yeah, right.
Yeah, OK. Very smooth.
Oh, hold on. Yeah, no, yeah, Little
difference, but yeah, there you go.
I have to keep flicking on. But yeah, never worn.

(28:01):
So the season after they had a white whip like stripes down as
well, which is looked very similar as well.
But yeah, apparently this one was never worn.
That's that sponsor is just so comforting to see.
I just don't know what it is. I'm I'm slightly biassed but
like, it just looks good there right?
Could you put a Shepherd Wednesday badge on that?
Yes. To be a goalkeeper, wouldn't it?

(28:24):
Yeah, I mean it. Yeah.
Yeah, it is. I mean, the badge is.
I mean, it looks a bit weird with the red badge.
I'm not the. Red yeah.
Giant shield, yeah. If they had just the badge and
without the shield, or the shield with a cream background
and like a blue trim round the edge, that would look nice.

(28:44):
I don't know why they chose the red backing though.
Very nice. What do you think anyway?
I like it. I think it's.
I think it's smart. Yeah, it is smart.
I'm I'm going thumbs up for thisone.
Yeah, me too. I like.
It OK. It's just strange.
Yeah. If if Southampton fans are
watching and listening and you know, any more information about

(29:05):
it, please just comment on a on a post or reach out to us
because yeah, I can find any. The information I found was it
was never worn. Yeah, OK, okie, Doke, let's have
a look. All right, onto yours kind.
Of spoke about this a lot already haven't I but yeah we

(29:25):
can we can cover this quickly that's the yeah that 91 to 93 it
looks like someone's left their coffee cup on the shirt and then
kind of walked away than it on that one but.
You see things like that. I don't know why, it's my weird

(29:48):
mind. I like this.
I like the simplicity of the shirt, the fact that it's just
yellow with that badge and there's no other detail to the
shirt other than that. There's no trim around the cuff,
nothing. Would you all right if if I
remove the? The big giant villa badge is
your what do you think? Just just a just a plain shirt?

(30:08):
Isn't it nothing special? Or do you think that badge makes
it well? It's not the chef or Wednesday
1. Oh yeah?
Oh yeah, you're right. Pretty similar.
Is it replicate? It is, isn't it?
Is it what? Sorry.
Is it umbero replicate? Yeah, yeah.

(30:32):
Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
And does it feel like the the Manchester United blue one as
well with the the badge? Yes, yes, mate.
Yeah. Good foul.
Yeah. I think it's just a bit wacky.
I quite like it. It works.
There's a thumbs up for me. It looks smart.
Oh. Absolutely.
Yeah. OK there.
Loving it. All right, what we're on to now.

(30:55):
Let's go to the next one. There you go.
The one behind me. Liverpool 3rd, 94 to 96.
Sigh, what do you think? So I've got a story about this
one. So what have I got on my 9th?
First ever shirt I got as a kid Christmas Day in 1994.
So it was an emergency third away shirt that was created by

(31:16):
Adidas on the assistance of the FA and the referee as
Liverpool's green and white shirt class clash clashed with
Sheffield United's red and whitestripes.
So they had to come up with an emergency.
Look at that for an emergency kit.
How's that an? Emergency, yeah.
I just like the fact that a kit manufacturer, yeah, could come
up with that as a third kit, an emergency kit that.

(31:38):
Could have just brought that outwithout Taco Bow.
Yeah. And it wasn't going to be sold
as well, was it? So I've got it was.
That's OK. It was going to be used against
Southampton in the same season, and because it was only going to
be used for two matches, Adidas felt it was inappropriate to
manufacture. It's for the public.
Yeah. So he's also worn in the 9596

(31:59):
season. Imagine that.
Yeah, it. Looks good, doesn't it?
It looks so like meat. Yeah.
But Carl's? I think this looks incredible on
it in black as well. I think we spoke about as well
how Rangers kind of had yes, yeah, they had their badges and

(32:22):
stuff, kind of look at that. I love it's.
Beautiful. Yeah, I've got it.
I love it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But here's a question. Who did I have on the on the
back back in the 90s? Which player did young John have
on the back? You're going to have #9 rush
surely on there. Correct.

(32:45):
Although Fowler would have died coming through then, wouldn't
he? Did he wear that?
Yeah, he did. Yeah.
Yeah, it's 9496. Yeah.
But as I. Spoke to a long sleeve though.
I'll put a picture up if I can find it up long sleeve because
it's the glorious yeah. Just I think it's it's one of
your top away kits of all time, but I'd.
Be surprised with this new EddieDusty if they don't re release

(33:08):
that. Oh yeah, yeah.
I mean, they'd be a fool not to because it's not really spoken
enough about in my opinion. It's definitely a thumbs up.
The LFC on the collar as well. Just the little details.
Yeah, matters, doesn't it? It does, right?
I think. Double thumbs up.
Triple thumbs up. Yeah, absolutely right.

(33:28):
Yeah, excellent. All right, from Liverpool to
Yeah for a little win to say. Chef weird.
So I've got this in a replica because for anyone that knows
this shirt, I don't think you you couldn't have bought this
commercially anyway. Yeah, what's the what's?
The. What's the story on this one
mate? So what's the Sheffield?

(33:50):
Wednesdays 93 to 94 again. Now some fans would say this is
the third shirt, some would say not, but the story behind this
is this again is another emergency shirt created by Puma
for Sheffield Wednesday. So it was worn at the League Cup

(34:10):
fourth round versus QPR on the 1st of December 1993.
Sheffield Wednesday win the tie.Who won again?
The clip is available on YouTube.
The black kit was just deemed unavailable.
Now it's unavailable. Wow.
The reason the reason why it's deemed unavailable is because
back in the 90's the referees had a green kit.

(34:36):
For. Premier League matches and then
they had a domestic cup kit which was black.
So they couldn't actually wear the black and yellow pinstripe
away shirt at QPR for the cup because it was also worn again
at Wimbledon for the same reasons.

(34:58):
And Wimbledon, weirdly enough, that season in the cup wore
white at Selhurst Park. So they didn't wear their sort
of Navy blue kit because it again clashed with the referees
black. And Sheffield Wednesday couldn't
wear any other away kit other than the yellow.
So Wimbledon wore a white away kit and Sheffield Wednesday wore

(35:22):
yellow. Now this kit itself, because
I've actually got match worn shorts with this kit in my
collection because they're very Yeah, they are incredible.
So there was a variation to thisparticular kit.

(35:44):
You could have the same kind of gold yellow shorts with it or
because they wore that and then they had black socks with a
yellow top, or you could have black shorts, black socks
dependent on the kit. But yeah, I just think this is a
as far as it's not. So as far as like emergency

(36:06):
shirts are done, I think Liverpool's attention to detail
for the previous kit you showed was probably a bit more specific
and a bit more kind of detail. But that still is a lovely
looking shirt and the fact that it kind of goes with this one
which was the 3rd shirt for the season which was the white away.
Yeah. And this was worn at at

(36:28):
Newcastle St. James Park, which again
Newcastle wall there blew away because again they couldn't have
a kick clash because shuffle Wednesday's awake.
It was black. So this was another one created.
So the Puma factory was busy Jamesy.
Yeah, Busy, busy. Excellent.

(36:49):
All right, I think we're going to go.
We have to go. A thumbs up, don't we?
It's a thumbs up from me, Yeah, I mean, not just because I'm a
Wednesday fan, but just the design.
I like it. I like it.
Excellent. All right, you're going to go to
my last one. Do you know how we were talking
about Oldham? Did you say that one?
Yeah, do you know what This was one I cut from my list.

(37:12):
I did some. Research right?
It's beautiful not ending Forest3rd 92 to 94 all right
apparently didn't work They I couldn't find a picture of
anyone wearing it right and I did some research.
Hopefully I'm right. They only wore it against
Lincoln in a friendly. So their away kit for that was

(37:37):
what was their away kit? Was it white?
It was, yeah. So that was the white one with
black shorts, black socks, wasn't it?
It was, yeah. So it's just like.
Why wouldn't you have worn that out like Arsenal or Liverpool
though? It doesn't make sense.
Yeah, I mean, it went for two seasons as well.
So from 9293 Shipston's and thenI found it 9394 Wheeler Bats.

(38:02):
Is that like the graph of like Nolan Forest's career stats on
the middle there or it's so wacky, isn't it?
It is. I mean, it's yeah, amber.
I think it's a replicate. Apparently Everton had it as
they wake it from 1990 to 92, then Chelsea had it from 91 to
93 as a third. I've just realised that sound

(38:24):
like an 80 year old woman sayingthe word wacky as well.
Jamesy, can you try and try and cut that?
Got that from the pod. No wacky tools in this pod mate.
Just have a look at the Everton one as well.
Because I was it. Yeah, Everton had it as a way, a

(38:47):
few teams had it as a. What are your thoughts on it?
I've got the Everton one, the yellow one.
That's the one, Yeah, the yellowone and Chelsea had, They had
the yellow one, yeah, yellow andblue.
Yeah, so they had more blue on it than the Everton one, didn't
they? Or was that the same?

(39:07):
Yeah, I think it's the same, yeah.
I just it's a a weird template but it works, doesn't it?
I was going to say, comparing that to Alden, both Umbro and
then Alden, I think Alden stealsyour heart doesn't.
It Oh yeah, Bo Bovis for president, mate. 100% so

(39:29):
everything, yeah. So everything had the yellow
with the blue. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I like it, but
I think I prefer. The Oldham.
Do you know what makes this special though?
Right, This one. And it's the same thing for a
lot of the Umbro templates in the 90s, just the light green
triangles underneath the lines. Yeah.

(39:51):
Just, you know, it gives me thatkind of oof.
You know, just a detail, mate. Detail.
Just a detail, mate. What are you thinking?
Thought it's thumbs up, mate. It's thumbs up 100%.
It just yeah, it doesn't beat. I like it.
That green. Green.
Yeah, I prefer the Oldham. But you know what?

(40:11):
If this came up for sale and theprice is right, I would snap it
up. Would he be shocking if that
was, you know, my God, I'd love that, Yeah.
All right, let's get to your last one.
Arsenal 3rd 199496. Yeah, just.

(40:33):
Another yellow? Yeah, kind of.
Yeah. Whatever you got.
What do you tell me about this one?
Arsenal's third shirt, 9495, wasn't actually available
commercially, so it wasn't available to buy.
It was only worn twice in the League Cup versus Liverpool in
9495 and then again versus AstonVilla 9596.

(40:55):
So let's think about and that again, Arsenal fans, if you
prove me wrong then, because forsome reason, the only thing that
I could have thought it would have been was, you know, that
Dennis Bergkamp goal away at Sunderland when he turns to the
camera, puts his hand over his mouth as kind of like, what have

(41:15):
I just done? Kind of like that amazing goal
from like 20 yards into the top bins.
Yes, I thought it was this kit, but it's not.
I think it's the 91, the 9697 kit which is all blue sleeves.
Ah, yes, yes, yeah, yeah, yes. All I've just I mean, I can Paul

(41:39):
Merson where Well, that I think I've seen a picture of Paul
Merson. Yep, yeah, sorry.
It the sleeve the top of the sleeves is from the the blue
away, isn't it? Yeah, because the blue away for
that one was obviously the Dramberg, kind of like the
lightning bolt jacquard print, wasn't it?
Wasn't the half and half one. Yeah, but that was a beautiful

(42:03):
away kit in itself. It's one of my favourite Arsenal
away kits. Just the Navy blue looked
amazing. Do you have that one?
I have the Navy blue one. Yeah, I just, the only thing I
don't like about this one is thelight blue trim on the sleeve.
You think they could have done without that?
Either that or made it yellow, you know it.

(42:25):
Just I was going to say, if you got rid of that blue and just
all yellow, do you think it would still be?
Yeah. Or if the sleeves are all blue.
Yeah, I mean again though mate, why did they need this kit?
Don't know you have to send a message to Dramberg mate.
But if it wasn't commercially viable for not commercially

(42:48):
viable, it wasn't commercially available.
Sorry for people to buy. What was Arsenal's intentions of
having it? Because surely their blue shirt
would still be OK at Aston Villa.
Let's see if I can in the league.
Yeah, let's have a look. So I need to know a bit more
about this. So it's only one.
Yeah, yeah. I don't know.

(43:11):
I need to know a little bit moreabout this listening because it
unsettled me seeing it because Ikind of thought, whoa, what is
this? Because you know, you can see
some of these ones that like they're a little bit Nike
template and it's kind of like, was that yeah, fake?
Is that real? Let's have a look.
Yeah, it's. Still nice, it's a lovely shirt.

(43:32):
This is the one we have to go I think down the rabbit hole and
do some research mate. It's a cracking shirt, though.
Yeah, it is. It is.
Do you think JVC could have beena bit light or do you think
that's it works? No it works.
It's borderline becoming a goalkeeper top though for me.
No. Now you mentioned that.

(43:52):
I could see David Seaman on that.
Yeah, it just, it does look a bit goalkeeper, I think because
it's just all yellow on the on the kit and also because we've
had a consistent kind of involvement of blue in the 90s
on all the other Arsenal ones. So you've got the three Adidas
stripes, you've got the bruised banana, you've got the kind of

(44:16):
heavy zigzag lightning bolt on it and that just where it's, it
just looks yellow. I know it's probably got has it
got the zigzags? It has, doesn't it?
It does. Yeah, it does.
So it just looks all yellow but I I still like love it.
Do you see how tiny the Nike theNike is?
And you consider when we spoke the other week about the Adidas
logo getting beer, how tiny thatNike?

(44:40):
Yeah, yeah, it just looks nice. It's a very nice kit.
Is the colour black or is that blue mate?
I think that's blue as well. It's.
Blue, thank God. A jump, right?
I think we'd do some more digging about Ellen or if
Arsenal fans let us know if you know, I'm sure.
Yeah. I'd hit man, a man or someone,
wouldn't I? Wouldn't he?
Yeah, well, we've, Andrew Bick is a very keen fan of the pod

(45:04):
and he messages me a lot about Gunners trivia.
So Andrew, you're listening mate.
If you can come back to us on this because we want to update.
I think what we'll do is if we put this out to the listeners,
maybe we can update him next week.
Yeah, absolutely. Thumbs up, thumbs up.
Da da, da, da. Yeah, That's a great one though.
Yeah, Yeah. I think that's pop of the tops,

(45:28):
top of. The tops?
God, that takes some saying, doesn't it?
Pop of the tops doesn't sound right, does it?
Have you got any more though? That didn't make the cut mate,
You must have. Yeah, what did I have?
I mean, I had that Bolton, that Bolton one.
Yeah, Bolton. Yeah.
I think that was the naive 9596,the Reebok, this the yellow

(45:51):
yellow as well. Like a lot of them on my list
were yellow that I loved that Bolton one, but they were I
think previously in the in the First Division.
It's quite a safe bet though, isn't it?
Yellow? Like, yeah, it's almost like
you're either away at Norwich orthat's it.
I've got or Watford, I don't know if you've got on the list,

(46:13):
the Chelsea Amiga. The yellow with the black
stripes is the black stripes. Have you got Yeah with the like
the pin? Stripes.
Kind of, but yeah, that's another yellow as well.
That's a Chef for Wednesday shirt.
It is. Yeah, absolutely.
It is the same one. Yeah, what else have I got?

(46:34):
I think I put that Ipswich one. I sent you the the red and black
Ipswich third shirt from I think9394.
Yeah, the the faisons on that bepoppin.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I only think red and black,
similar to black. Monroe was top actually.
Yes, yes, yeah, yeah. And then otherwise just ones

(46:55):
that were hardly used by like that Tottenham one, the yellow
one, the Ronnie Rosenthal third shirt which which was used for
like 7 seasons. Yeah, yeah.
It was used a lot, wasn't it? But it's yeah.
That was a great third shirt. Yeah.
What have you got mate? Any honourable dimensions?

(47:16):
Well, QPR 9394 and then 9495. Black.
Yeah, that was yes. Yeah, black and red.
Yeah. Like because I know they're
predominantly their away shirts were red.
This one is black. Yeah.
Which were clubhouse shirts withthe compact sponts.

(47:40):
That was 9495. Yeah, the season before it was
CESF or something. The light blue.
Season yeah, there you go because I love that away shirt
for the 9293 that the red and black kind of.
Strive, but that's. Dennis, let's just bring it.

(48:05):
Oh, there we go. I don't know how I missed that
one. It's lovely in there.
I don't know do you think do youthink the 9495 is better?
I think because of that blue CSFI think it works better with
the compact. Yeah, compact, Yeah, because
again, how different a sponsor can make.
You know, when you look at it isa kind of like, oh, light blue.

(48:26):
Yeah, absolutely. I got to put.
I'll put these up to compare them, yeah.
Another one I looked at was Winden's 949394 Third, which was
white with red pinstripes made by I.
Think I just scroll past. Sorry, Swindon.
Yeah, yeah, I did. Happens sometime to sign.

(48:55):
Sorry, Swindon fans. Oh, yeah, OK, I.
Mean it's it's a bit unbrowy, but I can't remember seeing them
in the kit. That's the thing.
No, it could be a Chelsea kind of early.
Yeah, OK. Yeah, I like.
What else have we got? Right, This is another one that

(49:16):
I need help with and we spoke about this Jonesy, another one
that unsettled me to my very core.
Leeds United, 9596. Yeah.
Yellow. Now we spoke about this, didn't
we? This was, we reviewed this a
couple of weeks ago, which was the Thistle Hotel's kind of

(49:39):
suave polar neck White. What did you say?
Wasn't it? Doctor Frankenstein dine or
something, wasn't it? That's.
It, that's it. So it's the Tony Ibowa era.
You also showed us the away shirt, which was the sort of
emerald green and blue stripes with the Thistle Hotel.
Yeah. So I came across the yellow away

(50:02):
shirt, which I'd never seen, ever.
Spoke to a few people, they saidyeah, it was worn.
I just can't see or recall where.
All right, I found some information.
All right, so here we go. So the information I've got one
of the rarest shirts there is ofa Leeds United.
In recent past it was only it only has been worn once in an FA

(50:24):
Cup outing against Port Vale. Wow, can you bring up a picture
of this on the pod? Yeah, absolutely.
I'll show. It it's a beautiful shirt,
honestly. I'll try.
I'll try and find the match for the poor Bell game as.
Well, the difference between that shirt and the home shirt is
though, it's not got just the polar neck collar, it's actually

(50:46):
got the Grandad deck. So it's got the three buttons in
the top and it's got a blue Thistle hotel and it's all just
the beautiful colour of yellow. It is a lush kit, honestly.
Think there's a oh there's a video on there buddy you can
watch after the pod. The whole game's on YouTube
mate. Well, that's my Friday sorted.

(51:08):
It was. Thanks for listening.
It was this is a beauty, it's a beauty.
It was shown on Sky FA Cup fifthround replay.
It's on YouTube Football againstLeeds, 27th February 1996 whole
game. There you go mate, you know what
you're doing, but. You know, we said though the
LUFC and the badge either side of the kit looked a bit weird,

(51:30):
didn't it? With the ASICS?
Yeah. Why does it work on the yellow?
I was. Going to say I'll bring them up
a girl the the home and away. I'll put them both side by side.
And you know what? It works better in the yellow OH
long sleeve as well. If any of our listeners have got
it and they want to send us a picture, please do because I I,

(51:52):
I shouldn't like Leeds as much as I do, but that one is nice.
Found a picture of Carlton Palmer wearing it short sleeve.
I think I like it better long. Sleeve.
Yeah, he's wearing a long sleeve.
Count Palmer's wearing its shortsleeves.
Rest with the Prem patches though as well.
With the Prem patches. Yeah.
Yellow shorts, yellow socks. I will share.

(52:14):
That's a cracker. Oh.
It's like knee rubbing worthy though.
Come on, I'm going to watch thatgame.
Are you? We should do a watch along
straight after this Port Vale versus Lee.
If everyone's got a bit of a fewhours to spend, I'm going to

(52:34):
full bell slates on. And also, I've got a mention.
I'm not plugging anything right, but I've got to bring it back.
We want to talk about Man City'swhite shirt.
Jamesy, we've got a reason to promote this.
Because this was in your top five, was it not?
It was, yeah. Did you scrub it out?

(52:58):
I did. Why?
Just thought it's one of course everyone at the moment there.
Yeah I tried to deep. Why is the Everton one not as
well known as the Man City one mate?
I know, I know and I saw the Everton one as well and that is

(53:18):
beautiful. It's a beautiful shirt.
You could put a tie with that one and go to work.
You could. You could, yeah.
It's such a nice shirt though, isn't it?
Because if if I remember correctly, the shorts are Navy
blue but with a white trim at the bottom and the badge within
a badge on that shirt just looksunbelievable.

(53:44):
Tell you what, As I said, yeah, I crossed so much stuff out.
Oh, there we go. Yeah, it looks so good.
Yeah. I mean, I think the brother
Trump's the NEC. Looks good though against the
white and the Navy blue. Again, that doesn't have a
brother sponsor. It does.
Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Even the Everton one looks good.Yeah, yeah.

(54:06):
Cool. What a shirt.
Yeah. All right, let's get out of here
and then we'll just debrief. That lead shirt put us off
guard, didn't it? There we go.
Tell you what? Yeah, it's been good to tell

(54:27):
you. As I said, it's a it's a one
that there's, there's plenty more.
And I'm sure the listeners couldtell us as well if they've got
any third shirt memories. Yeah, please do guys, because
you might have a third shirt we've not mentioned and you'll
go, hey, would you? Hey, Jonesy, what have you not
mentioned this? And we'll be like, sorry, it was

(54:47):
our top. Five.
Yeah, because we tried to do therarest.
I mean, we could do, I mean, I mean in the future we could do
the, you know, our most favourite because there's a lot
to take in just the regular ones, but we just tried to find
the rarest ones and the forgotten ones, didn't we?
Yeah, I think the the forgotten element of it, I suppose is the

(55:09):
biggest. But I know if you're an Aston
Villa fan, if you're a Blackburnfan and they'll be like, hang on
a minute, we knew that shirt existed.
Well, you're wrong, because I didn't know that Leeds United
shirt existed and my world has been rocked.
How is that? You're just scrolling through
and you're like, whoa, hold rewind.
Yeah, it was like the episode. It was like the film with the

(55:30):
old Ace Ventura when he finds out about Ray Finkel was Louis
Einhorn. Like, I was in the shower with
a, like, a toilet plunger tryingto cleanse my mind.
I didn't know a shirt existed. I felt like I'd failed the
Instagram community, Jay-Z. That was me being honest, you
know, I didn't know a shirt was there.
I'll. Tell you what, we learned

(55:51):
something new every day. I know, I know.
I hope the listeners did as well, but yeah, it's been a
great one mate. Yeah, thoroughly enjoyed it,
mate. Thank you for that and thank you
for your graphics as always. So guys, we've had some people
use PL POD 10 this week. Yeah, yeah, absolutely.

(56:11):
Big shout out to Stevie with hisGermany goalkeeper purchase.
I did the same. Good choice.
Yeah, guys, I know there's lots of shirts out there at the
moment. If you do want to go on classic
football shirts and use PL POD 10, that is your 10% discount
code to make a beautiful purchase.
If you can find a third shirt onthere, if you find an Oldham one

(56:33):
on there, save it for Woody. Jeez, tell your ass so I'm going
to be on eBay now. Oldham third shirt.
But out of all of those shirts today, James, if you had a
golden ticket on classic football shirts, which one would
you get? Oh.
That's a tough one. It would have to be Eric and

(56:54):
Oldham. I think you won me over on that
one. We do like the Arsenal one as
well. Just because it was.
Yeah. Yeah, just because it's rare.
The leads long sleeve. Does anyone own that leads long
sleeve? Let us know because I'm
intrigued like. First out of my misery.

(57:15):
Yeah, my. God, right Or you're going to
have to. You've got the Home Ave.
Is there a way you can diet? Yeah, what mustard?
Soak it in watery mustard for 72hours.
Oh. Yeah, goodness.
Well, that's been good. It's been good Chatting Kit,

(57:36):
hasn't it? We love Chatting Kit.
Yeah, if. We want more reasons to chat kit
because it's the reason how Jonesy and I become introduced,
other than the love of the Premier League and obviously
we're part of the shirt community.
So if you want to hear more shirt chat and hearing U.S. chat
shirt then let us know because if there's more subjects you

(57:58):
want us to cover, let us know. I think what we are going to
have to do, Jonesy and I think what come to me recently from
