(00:01):
Simply stunning. Hello and welcome back to that
90s Premier League podcast, Jonesy.
We are on episode 9. How you doing mate?

(00:23):
It seems a while since we've done one of these EPS.
Yeah, good, good time off then we.
Had a little bit of time off. Yeah, all refreshed, ready to
go. Absolutely mate, it's good to
see you again. Yeah, nice to.
See your teammate. Good, good to hear your voice.
Golden, golden tones. We we've chosen A banging

(00:47):
episode today to come back on, mate, haven't we Tell tell the
listeners what we've decided. If you've noticed from our
background, if you're watching, but due to this season's, if we
get into this season's title race being a pile of shit, yeah,
we're going back. We always go back to the nice.
We're looking at the race for the title.

(01:07):
The race for the title. Yeah, 90 style.
So we picked out a few, haven't we?
We're going to deep dive into. Well, we're trying to kind of
keep this in timeline with current day, aren't we mate?
So we know it's a few teams got relegated recently.
So our last episode was the relegations.

(01:29):
And then obviously as recently Liverpool have just won the
title this season currently. So we thought, you know what,
let's talk about title deciders and the run in for the Premier
League, right? Yeah, I guess as you said,
keeping it on point when we did the relegation, while the
relegation was kind of current, yeah.
So yeah, no, it's good to get into race for the title.

(01:53):
So what did you kind of think this week then?
Because obviously we agreed thislast week as to what we were
going to do. But your week of research and
looking into things, how have you found it?
Good, good. There's some good races in
there. Some seasons not so much.
Kind of A1 sided race but. Yeah.

(02:13):
That was quite, a quite a good number of battles in the yeah,
in the seasons we've picked out.You did message me though,
didn't you? And you said, hang on a minute,
this episode could go on for either 2 or over 2 parts or, or
a good couple of hours, right? Because we have to trim this
down. We did because thinking about
it, we did a whole app on 9293, so we've covered that.

(02:36):
Yeah. And there was a few other
seasons where we thought, you know, there was not much of A
race going on. And so, you know, and some of
these seasons as well, we could possibly go back into and deep
dive more, isn't there? Because that's the thing
recorded. I said, you know, because some
of these seasons, a lot happened, not just title races.
So yeah, yeah, excited to get into it.

(02:57):
Yeah, me too, mate, me too. OK, so should we get cracking
into it? What do we start with, mate?
What's on your list? What are we wearing?
What are we wearing? You tell the listeners today?
Let's have a quick reminder, Jonesy, right, yes, you're
you're now in the spotlight as being the editing king of

(03:18):
podcasts and Instagram. You're doing a lot for shirts
versus boots. You're doing a lot for this
podcast. Your own page is terrific.
Now we're on YouTube, aren't we?So and Spotify to WI.
Fi as well, yes. So if you're not watching us,
what are you doing because we make such an effort for you

(03:41):
guys. Hey, HQS as well, look what we
look at like when we set up the studios.
Look at that. I dusted the top of that photo
frame for you guys this morning, just in case you watched.
Yeah, and these. Shirts in the background kept
falling down. Look how the effort I've gone to
get to stick up. See, Jones, he's got his blue
tack out just for you. So This is why it's important

(04:04):
guys, because we make these videos, because it's a visual
podcast. We want to show off the shirts
we're wearing the merch. So for those of you that are
listening, yeah, exactly. So for those of you that are
listening on Spotify, firstly, thank you.
But secondly, give us a watch because it's it's it's cool.
It's worth your while. Rant over Jonesy.

(04:28):
What are you wearing, my friend?OK, I'm wearing the Blackman
Rovers Premier League Championship 9495.
Beautiful. Yeah.
So I think before we started recording we noticed that the
9596 has got the ASICS tick where the 9495 behind me, the
one they won the league and doesn't I.

(04:50):
Didn't know that personally. Yeah, not many people do.
But yeah, obviously I'm wearing this one because they've got the
Champions, got the badges, got the shear on the back.
What do you think of the red in the collar?
I like it. Yeah, it's nice.
I had it closed up before and I was like, now let's show the red
off. Yeah, because when I was hanging

(05:12):
mine up today, I was doing the collar up and I was kind of
thinking, now you got a flash, atiny bit of red there, haven't
you? Because Blackburn have had a
little bit of red always in their kit, just the tiniest
little slither. But it's always been that,
right? I think they brought it back for
this season. I'd love to get my hands on this
season. Shoot, actually, because it's a
bit of a throwback. Yes, yes, I once because it's

(05:35):
yeah. Was it 30 years?
Yeah, it's their anniversary kit.
I mean their Awake. It is just sublime as well.
Wait for those those super salesand giants who will jump on
that. Yeah, I've always, that's just
I've always been like an ASICS. I love 90s ASICS.

(05:55):
Yeah, yeah. So yeah.
And behind me of the chicken, I've just set up a kind of a
9495 wall. So you've got the Liverpool,
Blackburn, West Ham United, United Black.
Shirt. What a tasty wall.
Yeah, taste it. The 9495 wall last day of the
season will. Yeah.
I've also I've also got to say to you guys who believe that

(06:18):
ASICS is for marathon runners only, as you've just done the
London Marathon, the Manchester Marathon.
No, it's for 90s Premier League shirts and nothing more because
I honestly think ASICS is peak 90s football in my opinion.
You agree? Jamesy Yeah, absolutely.
Bring it back. All right?
What are you wearing? What am I wearing?

(06:39):
Thanks. Thanks for asking.
It's the Manchester United. Oh, now let me think.
Is it? This is 98 to 99 or is it 9799?
I think it's 9899 only. Yeah, 99.
Is it the one where? Yeah, it's the one where they
won the treble, Yeah. Yeah, right.

(07:01):
I get mixed up with Manchester United timelines because they
always used to repeat their kit for a couple of seasons.
Yeah, so this one is the 9899 Manchester United Home shirt,
comes with the Umbro Zip PremierLeague patches, and I've got big
yaps dam on the back, which I can't do a 360.
I fall off the chair. But yeah, I am wearing that one

(07:24):
today. And you know what I think in
terms of the Umbro taping on thesleeve there, the fact that this
is quite a nice thick material, but not too thick.
Yeah, were you a fan of the zip?No, I wasn't a fan of the zip
because it was a little bit needed.
No, I'm just trying to be smart and let's be Yeah, yeah, early

(07:49):
90s. We had the string, you know, the
pool, you know. Let's end the 90s with the zip.
Now I want to know on this shirt.
Ryan Giggs wore this shirt, right?
Ryan Giggs is synonymous for having a hairy chest.
Did this hurt his chest hair before he put it on every game
when he zipped it up? Because I mean, it might like,

(08:12):
it's quite tough. I wonder if that ever.
Impact if you if you know the answer to that question, yeah,
just e-mail in. We've opened the mailbag for
you, Ryan. Tell us about your chest hair.
Yeah, it's a quality shirt though.
Yeah, lovely. Not his, not his umbrella again,
mate. Asic's Umbro.

(08:34):
Unsung heroes in the footballingworld, I say.
And also in tribute to yourself, mate, in the background I have
your Premier League champions, not your 495 shirt.
It doesn't have the patches on the sleeve or the Shearer.
But I agree, it's beautiful. It's beautiful.
Excellent. What's next?

(08:54):
I think we're going to start of the week.
I've missed the start of the week.
Let's. Get the week Okie doke right, So
my start of the week this week. Obviously some of you may or may
not know if you're a Premier League freak like me and Jonesy,
but Manchester United won the first four out of five Premier

(09:17):
League titles with Blackburn winning the 5th.
Now the start of the week for meis Manchester United won 123 out
of 202 matches within that time period.
Now 123 matches out of 202. That's incredible in terms of a

(09:39):
win rate. Now I know for a fact that
Manchester United used to bore me where they always used to
win. Yes.
I used to get on my nerves and then when someone beat them on
Match of the Day, I was literally like glued to the
telly. Whoever it could have been, if
it was Paulo One Chop with Derbyor Darren Huckabee with
Coventry, I was glued. But you know, like, it never

(10:03):
like really happened. And that just tells me why
that's an incredible start. That is a very good start.
You can have that. One.
Thanks. Thanks.
I missed the start of the week, so thanks for that one.
Thank you. Excellent.
All right, I think we're going to go to hold the Backpage.
Let's play that music. I think this is a good one.

(10:31):
I reckon it's a good one. All right, let's go to the 6th
of May 1998. Don Hutchinson.
Hutch, I'm so sorry. OK, What's Don Hutchinson done?
I will tell. You.
What have you done, Don? So Don Hutchinson was shocked
into making an apology when the Mirror yesterday exposed his

(10:52):
X-rated tackle on Arsenal's Emmanuel Petite.
After seeing our graphic Backpage photo of the horror
challenge in Sunday's title decider at Harbury, the Everton
star immediately faxed Petite a message.
So 90s. However, the Frenchman never
received it, having already already leaving that Gunners HQ.

(11:16):
Yeah, what? Was it like, sorry, best wishes,
Dom, Yeah. So the one the graphic backs
page I've got as well. I went back a day which was
dirty Dom in trial by video. Look at Emmanuel, OH.
My God. It's like, you know, like one of
those local newspapers where it's like I scratch my leg on

(11:36):
park bench and they sit there and show the yes.
Yeah, and I won a free holiday to Magaluf.
Yeah, So I went, I went back andlooked at this game.
Right. So Hutchinson went in two
footed. No yellow card, no nothing it.
Was nothing nasty. Nothing.
I'm looking at the picture therenow mate.
That tackle looks horrendous. That's two footed.

(11:58):
Two footed. So what I'll do obviously,
because I'm not allowed to, because every time I try and put
stuff on YouTube, if it's kind of copyrighted, I will tackle on
Instagram after the obviously the episodes come out and I will
put it on there and it is a nasty thing.
And we'll hashtag it Dirty Dawn.Don't know if you can see you as
well. Can you see how in the corner

(12:20):
her or injured you could be entitled to compensation during
the last three years if you suffered?
Oh my God. Contact Emmanuel Petite by fax
at the bottom. Sorry, he looks like he said
just left the game. Emmanuel Petite obviously got
taken off. Is he just gone into the car
park and just said right? Take a photo of this for.

(12:41):
The mum. Yeah, so the FA, yeah, So the FA
obviously are going to look intoit.
Video evidence, you know, that was the kind of in thing then as
well. You know, his apology, you know,
it wasn't good, Hutchinson said.I totally apologise to him.
I've seen it on TV and it looks quite bad, but I didn't mean it

(13:02):
quite. Didn't mean it.
Come on, Don, if you're listening, Don.
In in the game, Andy Grey goes. That's the second time now
Hutchinson's trying to do so. So yeah, he had that in his
locker though, didn't he? Yeah, he did.
He did, yeah. So after the game, apparently
they shook hands. But he was doing, he interviewed
at times who couldn't really speak to him.

(13:23):
I sent him a fax apologising andwishing him well for the cup
final. However, Hutch misspelt the
Frenchman's name and the fax, calling him Petit.
Oh dear, the plot thickens for Don.
Yeah, so, yeah, screwed up with that one.
And there was fears at the take could, you know, missed the FA

(13:43):
Cup final and potentially be outof the World Cup as well, which
didn't happen. But that that game it was it was
this this actually goes to the title because it was the four
nil win where Arsenal. Yeah.
Yeah, Tony. Would you believe it?
Yeah, in that game as well, if I'll share it as well, which

(14:04):
funny, Duncan Ferguson is wrestling on the floor with
Martin Martin Keon and Keon's trying to escape.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. The pure fear in his eyes as
well. He's like, get off.
Sorry. So yeah, also, yeah, on that
same Backpage as well. Look at this.
This is not football related, but if you can see, look, look
at that guy biting his, the rugby player biting that guy's

(14:25):
head. Rugby's new biting shame.
Wow. So it was all having X-rated
tackles, rugby players buying each other's heads Made in 1998
was. A dark time.
Dark time for sport, yeah? What was?
What was? Riding on Everton there though
mate, for them to be so vicious in that game.

(14:46):
I don't know but come. On.
You look at it now, it would be like obviously VIAR and stuff
like that. Yeah, either gone.
Yeah. But you watch that game because
they have the whole game on on YouTube, but it's literally like
Petite has the ball, Hutchinson comes in two footed bang.
You see it clearly. Yeah.

(15:07):
It gets ignored by the commentators, it gets ignored by
the referees until Petite's getting substituted off.
Yeah. So how did everyone miss that?
Yeah, no, I mean, there are certain parts of the modern game
that I think VAR ruin because, you know, you can kind of get
away with that fingernail offside and oh, he scored.

(15:30):
But yeah, those sorts of things.I mean, was the facts OK?
Is it Don? Come on, come on.
Facts. Bloody hell.
OK mate, that was a good. One What should I do?
Yeah. Facts.
Yeah. 90s back pages, eh? Unbelievable.
Unbelievable. Excellent.

(15:53):
Yeah, that was obviously a titlerace game as well.
So yeah, I guess we just jump into it.
I think start from the 9495. Yeah, let's do it chronological.
Yeah, sorry, as I said, we've we've covered off 9293 obviously
with the first episode 9394, I think it was a bit one sided.

(16:14):
You know, I did romp to it because you know, they they had
that experience of winning leagues.
Yeah. So they just kind of went into
it. So 9495, interesting one,
everyone. All right.
Tell us what you think, Jane Z. All right, well, Jane Z's been
to the bookies, so you don't have to.
Here we go. Let's have a look.

(16:35):
So we're title favourites. Look at this.
I've been down to the bookies, all right, So Manchester United
with title favourites 5 to 4, Blackburn 4 to 1, Arsenal 5 to
1, Newcastle 7 to 1 and Leeds 16to 1.
OK. We've got £50 on that.

(16:56):
Yeah, wow. Well, I mean, Blackburn came
close, didn't they? The season before?
Was that right? Yeah, yeah.
And obviously they splashed the cash that summer as well, didn't
they? SAS was formed, was it not?
Yeah, I mean, he writes down whothey got.
Yeah, so they got Chris Sutton. Yeah. 5 million, yeah.

(17:19):
Yeah. He did well.
Who else did they get? They've got Paul Walhurst that
season maybe, or they've had in the year before.
I love Paul Walhurst. Yeah, great player.
Well, you know, but like, I've looked at his career and like he
has played for so many Premier League teams, Oldham, Sheffield

(17:41):
Wednesday, Blackburn, Bolton Palace.
I always forget about the yeah, I mean, I mean, I remember him
at Sheffield United. He scored anyway for cup game.
I got injured, I think, didn't he in one?
Yeah, I remember soon. Yeah, it was a sporer.
Luxemburg maybe? Yeah, big winner wasn't.

(18:02):
It, yeah, but yeah, he's a Premier League journeyman and
you know why? Because he could play centre
back, midfield, up front, on thewing.
Great player. Yeah.
Yeah. I've got a little stat for you,
though about Blackburn and particularly SAS Jones.
If you want one. You don't have to do the Jingle.
I'm just giving you this for free.

(18:23):
Out of the 49 goals that Blackburn scored right, 61% of
the Blackburn goals came from Sutton and Shearer.
Now we're talking an investment and we're buying Chris Sutton
from Norwich to partner Alan Shearer.
Are we saying this is probably one of the best pairings of 90s

(18:45):
history? Yeah, they're 90s history.
They were my favourite partnership.
I love the SAS. Cole and York.
Yeah, but. I'm I'm with Sheer and Sutton
past the. Lead, they just comp yeah, they
complemented each other so well and they've had interviews as
well together and they've said as well.

(19:07):
It just it just clicked. So why did they not replicate
that for England if? We go back to that Why didn't
they start? Weird.
Before we uncover more annoyancewith the international scene,
let's let's move on, Jamesy. All right, so going in that to

(19:28):
that season, the 9495, yeah, thefirst time 10 games I've got
Blackburn won the six of the 1st10 games, 3 drawers, one defeat
United, six wins, one draw, 3 defeats.
Now obviously this was the season United lost Cantona.
Isn't it because of the the KungFu kick right?

(19:51):
Yeah, but I've gone into that one.
I mean, I can get too late. But did it affect them?
I mean, so the Kung Fu kick happened 25th of January.
After that they had 17 games to play.
They won 10, drew 5, lost 2. Yeah.

(20:11):
I mean, you said draws and stuff.
Like that. But yeah, I suppose that's not
massive. A massive impact though, is it
really? No, no.
And yeah, as I said, we got backto Shira's scoring in, in, you
know, in and out every week, youknow, goals.
So they were pretty much neck and neck and traded wins at the

(20:33):
top. You know, between February and
April, Blackburn started to wobble, start to lose key games.
Yeah. But yeah, with three games to
go, Blackburn led by five points.
Oh wow. Yeah, I've got, I've got a
little stout up here. I've got the last from the.
I don't know if you can see. So you can see from January to

(20:55):
May. So Blackburn, as you can see,
they probably got nervous from the 17th, Yeah, you see, they
lost to City, beat Palace, lost to West Ham, beat Newcastle,
lost to Liverpool, where in thattime United just lost to Everton
and Liverpool, eh? Yeah, but this again though,

(21:17):
mate, is right. And this typifies Manchester
United in 90s football. They always finished strong,
didn't they? Yes, yeah.
Regardless of like any season where they've won a title or
not, they always used to finish strong and they took it to the
wire. And I think that's why I admired
about Alex Ferguson and the kindof 90s era for Man United is

(21:39):
because they never gave up. No, no.
Whereas a lot of clubs had a wobble.
Yeah, I think it's just the confidence.
Yeah, yeah. They just didn't want to plays,
just didn't want to get, you know, shouted at.
Night. But yeah, the last day of the
season though, I think. Do you have a?

(22:00):
Member I remember it season yeahbecause this was kind of like
the you remember like the classic like split screen in the
old. I was going to say yeah, yeah,
race for the title VHS on the YouTube and it got to that point
where it split screen. I was like, yes, yeah.
And we're going to Upton Park. And by the way, Upton Park's
pitch looked horrendous for thatgame, didn't it?

(22:22):
So they played on the beach. So going into that last one as
well, so Blackburn were leading 89 points.
You know, I did 8087 and it justBlackburn lost two on a
Liverpool. Hold on a second Jonesy for for
the listeners, can you just tellus who is third and who is 4th

(22:45):
that season? Nottingham Forest the 3rd and
Leeds United the 4th. Did you know that?
Well that was the sort of the final table Leeds lost, so they
said they dropped down the because the 5th, but it was
Blackburn Rovers, Manchester United, Nottingham Forest,
Liverpool and Leeds. Oh my God, but I did not know

(23:07):
that. My memories are the last day I
sat in my bedroom. I didn't have Sky.
I had the radio on. Yeah, and the radio was great as
well because it would go from both games.
Yeah. And just wanting United to lose
so much. I mean, it was mixed feelings
when Liverpool scored. I could tell that watching

(23:28):
Anfield to be honest, because when Redknapp scored the free
kick, it was everyone was like, he still puts his hand up like,
yeah, sorry. Yeah, but that Cantona thing, I
think as you said, I mean I've got after they, you know, they
lose the cup final. I think there was an article
Cantona cost us the lot for Fergie's feeling so low.

(23:51):
Yeah, they're just looking for ascapegoat here, aren't they?
They still had a squad for crying out loud.
They still had a squad. Have you ever seen the Romans
victory video they had after where Kenny's in full kit?
I'll show it here so. Please don't.
Let me just see if I can get it when I can just unmute as as

(24:13):
well. So you can see kind of yeah, we
go and there's penny full kit. Why is he in a full kit?
That's disturbing. Kind of, you know, I want to

(24:37):
fight I. Don't know.
If no, that's nothing like John Terry.
That's the manager. That's like Arsene Wenger
putting on the Invincibles kit and walking out like, yeah, I
played the key part in the squad.
Played a testimony. Yeah.
Or, but I saw it's like Kenny's in full kit, he's got the
number. There was as well.
Yeah, there was mud on those knees.

(24:59):
Kenny had a, Kenny had a game. We'll give him that.
But yeah, it's just. Such a 90s.
I know. Yeah.
That is literally like the finalsong of a rock concert where
like they're waving everyone home and like, the old lighters
are out. That's so cool.
Love that 4. 95 was I think my one, as I said, obviously one of

(25:23):
my favourite seasons. I've got like, where is it?
This VHS here was the most played.
Still the same one for the childhood as well.
Yeah, I, I don't even, Yeah, I mean, just shake.
That for me for a little bit, Jonesy.
But see, like do you get that now shake that VHS Jonesy.

(25:43):
Oh, and. Look how good the covers were as
well. It had a whole.
Yeah. Stats.
Oh. Unbelievable fastest goal Chris
Sutton, Everton versus Black win13 seconds.
Yeah, yeah, 13 seconds. Lowest attendance Wimbledon
versus Manchester City, 5000. 5000 Oh my God, I do.

(26:10):
You know, I remember. So I remember the last day very
well, right? And I can remember watching,
obviously, West Ham, the atmosphere, Upton Park was
incredible because I think everybody wanted to stop Man
United. I think the whole country turn
Blackburn fans, didn't they, forthat one day.
And I can remember like Andy Cole, throw in the kitchen sink

(26:34):
at West Ham. I mean, was that Ludo Mcclusko
in goal? I think he had an incredible
game. What did West Ham have to play
for? I know, but that's what I mean.
And, and this is like, because you always get this, don't you?
And it still happens now that when you get to this point of
the title deciders and you look at the team that the winning

(26:56):
team are playing, you go, yeah, they're going to give up, yeah,
they'll let them win. No, that'll happen.
And then all of a sudden it's like, oh, Liverpool got
Blackburn. So Man United fans are already
going to go. Liverpool, do us a favour here.
Does that actually happen? I don't think so.
That's what. I mean, it's like good football.

(27:19):
Good. Football absolutely so I I just
said 9495 my favourite season love to deep dive into that one
yeah yeah one day and a favourite kits we've agreed
right yeah well that's why I'm on my 9495 you know like 3-2 or
three to go I click home shirt collection special season.

(27:43):
Special surprising. Fast forward a year then, mate.
All right, Jones, you've been down the bookies again.
Here you go. You've got to stop this.
Yeah, got it, got it. Problem.
All right. So Manchester United were three
to 1 favourites. Blackburn, you know, Kenny's
gone, but they're still 7 to 2. Newcastle 4 to 1, Liverpool 9 to

(28:06):
2 and Arsenal 6 to 1. Where did Kenny go?
Upstairs, right, OK, what did helike pull a hamstring in that
match and then go I can't be manager anymore?
Research ages ago I looked into this, went through a few
articles. Right.
I don't know if it was true he didn't like working Sundays.

(28:27):
Oh my God, Kenny. But I think he was just over.
He's just like, yeah, won it, done it going upstairs, right?
Yeah. OK, son.
I respect that a little bit because sometimes it's like
winner league. Don't outstay your welcome,
don't ruin it. However, if you've got the squad

(28:48):
and you've got the momentum on Manchester United and you're in
the Champions League, why don't you want another go?
I don't know. I mean, he took them from, you
know, the old Division One. Yeah, he took them.
Two, Yeah, he took them, you know, the playoffs and things

(29:09):
like that. He took over when there was
nothing. But that's what gets me.
Yeah. Yeah.
He'll go up top and then start barking orders down a minute.
Kenny, if you can do better, come and sit in the dugout.
That's what gets me. Yeah.
Why? That's it.
And he used to always go upstairs.
Steve Couple did the same when you guys had enough go upstairs,
Lombardo. Here's the case, son.

(29:31):
The bald eagle we've mentioned before, he.
Used to just be I'm just going upstairs, what's upstairs?
What do you keep saying that right?
What's your memories of 9596, Jamesy?
It's Newcastle for me, right? I.
Think it was defined by mind games.

(29:52):
Yeah. It was a bit of yeah, yeah.
Comebacks, meltdowns, meltdowns.I mean, obviously, we'll touch
on it. The start of the season.
Yeah. That first match of the day.
Alan Hanson. Well, United were scarcely
recognisable from the team we'veknown over the last couple of

(30:13):
seasons. What's going on, do you feel?
I think they've they've got problems.
I wouldn't say they've got majorproblems.
Obviously three players have departed.
The trick is always buy when you're strong.
So he needs to buy players. You can't win anything with
kids. You look at that line at
Manchester United today in Astonville at 2:15.
When they get the team sheet, it's just going to give them a
lift and it'll happen every time.
He plays the kids, he's got a buy players.

(30:33):
Yeah, yeah. Can't win nothing with kids.
Do they get beat by Aston Villa 3131?
Right, OK. Because that summer they sold
Konchelska's shoes in Really. But I didn't want who's the site
now? I just got the kids coming
through. So who come in, we've got Gary

(30:54):
Neville was already playing a little bit when they he was
already there because he played the FA Cup final against
Everton, didn't he? His goals.
But yeah, Beckham, yeah, Phil Neville.
Phil Neville. He had like, I don't know if you
got injured like Ben Thornley. There's a few others as well

(31:15):
that come through. But I remember just the I mean,
I've got the footage like they lose 1 game, right?
And this is where you think Fergie, you know, how many
titles you know, has he won? And look at the pages.
Forget it. Flop.
Fergie must fear sack. This is after the first game of
the season. Bye.
Bye Alex or bye bye United. So they'll all.

(31:35):
Be like, Oh my God, that is justthe typical English media isn't
it? That's so stupid.
The first game of the season andalthough you know, you know what
after that, right? So they lose the first game of
the season. You're like, oh, during crisis.

(31:56):
But then after that, from Augustto the 4th of November, they
played 10 games. 18 Drew 2. 18 Drew 2.
All right, Yeah. So the first eleven games they
won 8 drew, 2 lost one. Is that crisis?
Nah, Nah. It's amazing, isn't it, how they

(32:17):
jump on his back straight away and that just goes to show the
resilience of the man as a manager, though, in terms of
reading that after one game, like that's just ridiculous.
If that was three games in a row, lost right after, losing
the title, losing the FA Cup theseason before, I could, you
know, I could understand the season end game.

(32:39):
Did they lose to York in the Coca-Cola Cup that season as
well? Yes.
So what's your memories? Well, so I just, I want to cover
that a little bit more on the basis that if that happened in
today's game, so say Liverpool, right, win the league next

(33:02):
season, they ship out a few of their players and they bring in
five or six youth team players into their squad.
Now 5 or 6 youth team players into their squad as starters
this day and age would be absolutely unheard of because
you can understand one player coming in slowly being

(33:25):
introduced. You know, like the soccer, Miles
Kelly, like you've got Connor Bradley at Liverpool, Rico
Lewis, Man City. Like that would never be done
now. And I just think that was such a
huge gamble and to win the league is an Inc.

(33:46):
I think that's not sung about enough, personally.
No, yeah, absolutely. So you've got Newcastle, they,
you know, you bring in Les Ferdinand, Warren Barton, David
Ginola, Shaka Hislop. So they spend the money.
Yep. So they spend the money that

(34:07):
season like 16,000,000 and they started well.
So from the 18th of August to the 21st of October, they won.
Nine out of eight they won. So they had nine out of eight.
Yeah. OK.
Yeah, that's incredible. Yeah, and by Christmas they're
10 points clear and they beat Bolton and they were 12 points

(34:30):
clear from January the. Fast.
I think that's quite a margin, 12 points clear. 12 points clear
and then as I said, I've got thebit of a rundown from the 27th
of December to the end of the season.

(34:50):
So you look at the from Februaryto April, Newcastle's bad period
and we, yeah, Manchester United's consistency, look at
that. I mean, from the 1st of January
they lost against Tottenham and then 13th of April, that great
kit game against Southampton. Yeah.
But Newcastle, you know, they gofrom losing against West Ham,

(35:14):
Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, obviously that famous
4/3. Yeah.
Yeah. And yeah, my theory was sorry,
going back to that kind of February period.
So the 10th of February, before that they signed Faustino
Esprilla, right? Yeah.

(35:36):
OK. Then they put him in into the.
Did they need him because that period where they signed him,
Yeah. So they kind of lost their
rhythm a bit, yeah. I mean, even the press.
Here we go, kick up the ASP. So I think they lost.
So I think they lost two nil against West Ham.
Fastino Esprir threw away his designer gloves, rolled down his

(35:57):
socks, and did everything Kevin Kaywood demanded except provide
the knockout blow. You just couldn't provide it.
The media is harsh mate, isn't it?
This this season's Oh my God. I mean angers to tell you.
I feel sorry for Newcastle this season though, if I'm honest,
because there was a lot of hype. They had some great games, they

(36:20):
played very entertaining football that season.
You know, they were giant killers at times.
I mean like they always used to have the big games at Saint
James's Park, didn't they? Atmosphere was incredible and I
think probably again, most of the country wanted Newcastle to
win a league because Kevin Keegan was infectious, obviously

(36:44):
a national hero with England. There was a good feeling about
this going in for the last few games of the season and then
Newcastle just literally crumbled, didn't they?
They did so the 4th of March, they lost against Manchester
United at home. So this is where it's so then
they obviously goes from the 12 points down to the one point and

(37:06):
Newcastle still had the game in hand.
But then going on for that, here's a few headlines as well.
They'd lose the Man United Backpage frog on the Tyne
because Canton has scored and then they look against
Liverpool. Yeah, Tyne sync the Tyne panic.
That is brilliant. Oh, but then Kagan obviously

(37:28):
goes on. His is a little, he said.
It's almost standard. He's gone down in my estimation.
Then his tune. This tune ain't big enough for
the both of us. You did this on your personal
Instagram page the other day there.
Is this the anniversary of the Keegan rant?
When you do that with footballers, like he said about
Leeds and when you do things like that about a man like

(37:50):
Stuart Pearce, I've kept really quiet.
But I'll tell you something. He went down in my estimation
when he said that. We have not resorted to that but
I'll tell you. You can tell him now if you're
watching it. We're still fighting for this
title and he's got to go to Middlesbrough and get something
and, and I'll tell you honestly,I will love it if we beat them.
Love it, yeah. And there's the final table as

(38:11):
well, yeah. Right, OK.
Yeah, but that's a that still gets talked about.
As I said, that's iconic. Yeah, it's massive mate.
I mean, yeah, the bit where he says like he's got to go to
Middlesbrough and win something. They win 3 nil.
Cheers Kev. We're still, we're still
fighting for this title. Oh, do you know, I, I the

(38:34):
problem is, I think at that point, Newcastle fans were so
cheesed off of their form. They were just kind of like,
shut up, Kev, just like keep your head down, win US a few
games because didn't they go to?Was that was that off the back
of their win at Leeds or was offthe back of their drawer Forest?

(38:54):
That meltdown, yeah, I think it was.
Was it the winner? I think it was the winner.
Leeds wasn't it? Yeah, because that was when,
yeah, that was where the mind games.
Yeah, yeah. But like you've said, but going
back to that 9495 where we put that article, you know Canton

(39:15):
our cost us then for him to comeback and then become the
Talisman and lead into the title.
The frog and the time. The time you know and then what?
A team as well. Schmeichel, the You know the
rock at the back. David May was in full swing that
season, I'm sure. Yeah, David May and then yeah,

(39:38):
double winners, that classic final against Liverpool.
Yeah, God, do you know like that?
I think that was the answer Man United fans wanted though,
wasn't it? They they had to, I think if I'm
looking at it from the outside in, right, there must have been
an incredible amount of pressureand expectancy on Alex Ferguson

(40:03):
and that United team. Young players coming in, not
winning anything the season before.
Like having such a rich history of winning those titles leading
up to that season. Like for them to deliver a
league and a cup again followingthat is a very impressive.
And I often don't give Man United the credit they deserve

(40:25):
because, again, I was never a fan of them as a kid and I hated
the Fergie time tap in the watchand you know, all of that stuff.
But if you look at it from a managerial footballing kind of
club, incredible. Yeah, yeah, a great season.

(40:45):
I enjoyed that one. Yeah, so obviously Man United
scoop the title at the Riversidein their blue and white striped
kit. Yes, yes, didn't they?
Yeah. So again, disappointing finish
from a Newcastle perspective, but it was the inevitable
because the Red Devils came charging through.
Jonesy, my friend, What season have we got next, I think.

(41:10):
We're going to go to 9798. There we go.
There we go. All right, so 9798.
So Manchester United with favourites 3 to 1.
Then it was Blackburn. Again.
Yeah, 72, Newcastle 4 to 1, Liverpool 9 to 2 and Arsenal.

(41:33):
Who'd have thought it? Yes, so that.
This is a very important season to me, Jonesy, because I think
I've grown up around Arsenal fans for Brothers, right?
This was the VHS of all VH SS I used to watch as a kid, and I
used to watch this season all the time.
This was probably the first season that I really invested

(41:58):
in. Arsenal, I was going to say
fully invested. Yeah, I knew of Arsenal.
I used to love watching their kind of night, early 90s teams,
their kids, their players, Ian Wright, all that sort of stuff.
But this season was the first season that I went, whoa,
something's different here, right.
We've we talk the Wenger effect.I think we'll do a managerial

(42:19):
special at some point. So I don't want to go into too
much but obviously he gained English football and off air
mate. When we spoke about this we said
something changed in English football from this season.
Would you agree? Absolutely, yeah.
Now my memories of this to you Arsenal fans out there was

(42:43):
obviously the fact that Arsenal win this season, first of all
for you listeners, but obviouslyArsenal signed a man who Petite,
Mark Overmars, Gilles Grimandi, Christopher Ray, Luis Beau
Amorte, Alex Manninger. Now at that time I would only

(43:07):
say to you man, agree. I'm sure you'll agree Petite and
Overmars were the only big signings from that kind of
window because I would have never have heard of Christopher
Wray or Boamorte or Gilles Grimandi.
But if you watched them in that season, every single one of
those players played a huge partin that title race.

(43:31):
And I just remember, like the kind of Arsenal winner Old
Trafford, which was in March by the way of that year, but kind
of everybody kind of said that was the kind of title decider
because Arsenal beat Man United at Old Trafford.
And that was obviously Mark Overmaster and Gary Neville, a

(43:52):
new one. And, you know, and I think
obviously he's famously said that he is one of the most
difficult, that was the most difficult Arsenal side to play
against from a Man United perspective.
Yeah. What do you think?
What's your views? Before we recorded today, I
watched that 9798 season review.Arsenal explosive Anelka.

(44:18):
I forgot how good he was. Yeah, over Mars.
I just like jaw. Like, what a time.
So doing a bit of the old research going back to January,
look where Manchester United are, right?
So they got 49 points, Arsenal 5th 37.

(44:39):
Yeah, so look how far behind they are, 12.
They lost. They lost twice to Liverpool
that season, by the way. Arsenal.
So they're 12 points behind in January.
And then as we just mentioned, you just mentioned before as
well that that Manchester United, Arsenal over Mars game.

(45:02):
So that left Arsenal with three games in hand, 6 points behind.
Yeah, I mean. Vantage there, haven't they?
They must have had a few FA Cup,Coca-Cola Cup replays that
season, I remember, and that's probably why they were so far
behind, wouldn't it? Yeah.
So this is. Yeah, I think you're right.
I've got a bit of a rundown as well.

(45:23):
So you see, November to December, Arsenal had a bit of a
sticky spell, you know, And sorry, November to December,
Arsenal lost 12344 games, those against Derby, Sheffield
Wednesday, Liverpool and Blackburn.
My theory is right. Do you remember the the game
against Wimbledon, the floodlights?

(45:44):
Yeah, went off, yeah. That could have helped them,
right, Because they're on a bit of a sticky spell then.
All right, so that game's postponed, so they've got time
to rest. So from that, hey, goodness me,
they go from, you look from December the 26th to the 3rd of
May, Yeah, They win all their games bar three.

(46:07):
They try. Yeah.
And obviously at Chester United had a bit of their sticky spat,
you know, they spelled December to March as well.
Yeah. What were you going to say?
I was going to say, watching theArsenal video of that season, I
think they stop the video at Everton at home because I've
just seen their last two games were defeats, weren't they?

(46:30):
Yeah, they lost four nil. They're already on holidays so
it's four nil against Liverpool and one nil against Astonville
on the last day. Because they won the season
against Everton at home and that's obviously the famous like
they got the Tony Adams charge. And then they and.
Then they go, you know. Yeah, then they get the trophy,
don't they? And then?
Yeah, I don't think they show iton the video of those two games.

(46:56):
But you look at Manchester United, 7th of March, Sheffield
Wednesday, wow, what are you doing?
You stopping United? Yeah, in the title, you know,
then they you're welcome. That.
Yeah. Then they look draw against West
Ham. Then they lose that 14th of
March game against Arsenal. And then, you know, they go on
out of that, they win the next five games, draw 2.
So yeah. But I think it was too too far

(47:18):
gone. I think there's the really funny
memory to me, and I always remember this, but can you
recall them panning to a Arsenalfan in the crowd, Old Trafford
after the win? So there's a famous clip and
have a look if you can, but the guy looks like simply red, as in

(47:40):
Mick Hucknall, right? And he's wearing like a leather
jacket. And honestly, the passion in
this guy's face, he's like, that's screaming, but like, he
literally looks like he's ready to like, commit murder.
His eyes complete dico. But honestly, it was so
passionate. And you know what?
That's how much it meant to Arsenal because that season, I

(48:02):
think, was the kind of birth of this beautiful rivalry between
Arsenal and Man United. Would you agree?
I agree and you agree they did the double as well that season
didn't they? Yeah, yeah, be in Newcastle, at
the at Wembley, over Mars and America and again the the the

(48:24):
creation of Arsenal's Hot Stuff, the song that they released for
the FA Cup tune. But that season as well, the
Bergkamp. Yeah, stop.
Stop it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Just stop, I believe. Goal of the Month.

(48:45):
I like Reel himself. Wasn't he that season?
I think. Well, that was his hat trick at
Filbert St, wasn't it? Yeah, that's where I saw.
I was just watching earlier. Disgusting hat trick.
And then was that? Sorry, yeah.
But that was that was 3 all, wasn't it?
Three all yeah, because where Ian Wright's trying to fight
Steve Walsh at the end. Who wouldn't want to fight Steve

(49:06):
Walsh? He was a pain in the bum when
he. But yeah, yeah, there were some
amazing goals that season. But yeah, they already had a
good squad. But it just, it just clearly
took because obviously Paul Merson left that season and
David Platt was also rumoured toleave that season as well.

(49:28):
And he was supposed to go to Middlesbrough.
They deal, but the deal fell through, right?
So Merson goes to Middlesbrough and David Platt famously scores
that. Absolutely beautiful glancing
header at Highbury against Manchester United in A32 win.

(49:49):
So if they'd have sold David Platt, they wouldn't beat United
at home. No, There you go.
There you go. All right.
But moving on. Season underrated season I
reckon. Yeah, yeah.
All right. I like that one.
That was a good. One, yeah, yeah, sorry.
I think we're just going to finish up on the 199899 season.

(50:11):
United versus Arsenal Round 2, wasn't it?
Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, let's go to the
bookies. All right, so yeah, there you
go. I think United just title
favourites the entire season. Why?
I mean, every season, sorry. 7 to 4, Arsenal 5 to 2, Chelsea's
4 to 1. Where have Chelsea come from?

(50:32):
You'll see Same. So Liverpool's 6 to 1 and
Blackburn who get relegated 20 to 10.
Dear, come on, Blackburn. Looking into it I thought it was
a 2 horse race but Chelsea come close.
Tell me because I again, I zonedout.
If it wasn't Arsenal, Man United, I just kind of focus on
those two and I'm not being offensive to Chelsea fans, but

(50:54):
where the hell did they come from?
They were doing well. They would have won it.
Seriously, they would have won it if added their fixtures in.
If they beat Arsenal and they beat West Ham, they would have
won the league. So from November to May,
Arsenal, United, they have a bitof a kind of sticky spell the

(51:16):
same. And then it's just full win
draws for the rest of the seasonuntil Arsenal get to the 8th of
May lose against lose against the Leeds.
But Chelsea would all right, let's go to 5th of May, right?
Because this is where it gets sticky.
Right. OK so 5th of May so 36 games

(51:38):
played. So Arsenal are top with the 75
points. Manchester United you had 30
played 35 games 72 Chelsea 71 right?
So this is where Chelsea beat leads Liverpool draw with
Manchester United. Paul Ince.
Yeah. Scoring for Liverpool and
Tottenham lost against Arsenal. Three one right, so 5th and back

(52:02):
pages United can kiss the title goodbye all right, so they're
saying pull insurance United sport against so that's it see
you later titles all over, whichis crazy right because of the
stat I got so and then you go tothe 12th of May OK, so 12th of
May where Leeds beat arsenal Blackburn draw with Manchester

(52:27):
United, so Manchester United arenow top one points arsenal.
Leeds delivered Man United a solid there, didn't they?
Yeah, so Manchester United 76, Arsenal 75, Chelsea 72.
So I'm just saying if Chelsea won those two games.
Yeah. You know, but that what I was

(52:49):
the draw against Blackburn was funny because I really, it's not
funny because Blackburn got relegated, right?
But Brian Kids was the manager at Blackburn when it got
relegated. Fergie didn't realise after the
game that they got relegated. Right.
So someone asked him an interview and he got confused
and he said, what do you mean? Don't they still need to go and

(53:10):
say yeah? So his good old friend Brian Kid
was relegated having a yeah, having a tear in the changing
room. Sorry.
And there was another good photoas well where Wenger looks lost.
Leeds won Arsenal. Neil, Look at Wenger there.
Yes, I remember that. It's all yours United, it's out
of our hands and this is before United played Blackburn.

(53:35):
It's out of our hands and I wouldn't bail and help from
Rovers. That's so frustrating because I
you can I forget that title run was that close because obviously
it finished 7978, didn't it points.
Yeah, so just getting into it right.
So before the last guy this Sunday, ex gunner George Graham.

(53:57):
Oh, it was. George Graham as.
Well, now he was at Tottenham, all right.
No, that's what I thought. So just Sunday, ex Gunner Graham
can hand Arsenal the title if hestops United and someone's put
upon APS. Do you know?
Do you know in goal, George, obviously, Because why is why is
why is George going to help out his old fame?

(54:19):
I love that. Yeah, but looking into it, I
didn't need the graphic, But do you know how we talked
previously about that playoff, Newcastle, Arsenal playoff,
right. So when we get to 36 games, so
36 games identical. So Manchester United, Arsenal 36

(54:42):
games, both 121, Both Drew drew 12, both lost three, both have
75 point points, both have a goal difference of 42 identical.
Whoa, yes. So you talk about playoffs.
Did they consider I mean, I couldn't find anything on it.
This is with two games to go as well.

(55:03):
I'm sure the FA would have said a game of tiddlywinks between
Ferguson and Wenger or something, but on earth, how
would that have finished? Yeah, so that says how it
finishes going. I did with 79 Arsenal, 78
Chelsea, 75 West Ham. Look.
Yeah, well done, Hammers. Look at that, miles off but well

(55:23):
done. Just looking at and they
conceded. Arsenal conceded 17 goals that
season. 17 goals, that is. Yeah, but I mean, one nil to
lead to Ellen Rd. Like, that's a shocker.
What difference a point would have made Lloyd Hasselbank,

(55:44):
Jimmy Floyd. I can remember.
So that final day was the lob byAndy Cole against Tottenham, so
I remember. And then the free kick.
Was it a free kick by Beckham orwas it just a a beautiful goal
by Beckham? Beckham and Coles scored, yeah.
Because that was the one that was like the outswinger that

(56:06):
went straight into the top corner.
And obviously Beckham looked absolutely glorious at that
point, didn't he? Because he had the old sort of
part in with the blonde air and then the old long sleeve shirt
in the corner and just. But this was just after his
debacle in France 98 wasn't. It it was he's he's kind of

(56:28):
resigned himself. He's back.
He's looking at it. Let's have a look.
So, yeah. And that was the first step on
to the travel for Manchester United.
What season? I think Dwight York as well.
I mean, what a signing. Yeah.
Well. If you look at their signings

(56:50):
that season, there was the App Stam, Dwight York, Bloomquist
come in that year. So I think stabilising the
defence was huge for Man United and the App Stam was an absolute
colossus rock. Hence what I've got his name on
the back of his share, but like it was incredible the difference

(57:10):
he made. The Dwight York, Andy Cole
partnership as well, Teddy sharing them on social was still
doing the business. So when they came on.
Yep. By the way, had a great final
against Bayern Munich. They all did a job.
They all did a job. Wow.
You just think I've written the key players down from that.

(57:33):
So yeah, Dwight York, Roy Keane drove the media like, yeah,
Beckham. Yeah, Dennis Bergkamp and Anelka
for Arsenal. So Tony Adams, another solid
season. You could say that with their
seventeen goals conceded. Adams, Dixon, Keone
Winterbourne. Yeah, and that was where they
famously played their Champions League games at Wembley that

(57:53):
season. Of course I had a busy that
season and it was as torrid time.
But I mean, but again, that was another one of those FA Cup semi
finals, wasn't it? I know we're going to touch on
FA Cup so. Woody Oh yes.
Dimmer this, but obviously that was Arsenal, Man United Arsenal

(58:15):
Man United Arsenal Man United 1 incredible season and again
that's another one that I think like to win a treble Man City
fans incredible, especially in this day and age because
football has become more technical faster like your teams
have become more competitive. I I agree and I salute you, but

(58:36):
to win a treble for the first time, Champions League, FA Cup,
Premier League, like on the backof losing the Premier League the
season before, losing the FA Cupthe season before, like it's an
incredible turn around again from Ferguson.
This is an absolute master classof an episode.

(58:56):
Because you think about all those games they've played.
So look in here. So Oh yeah, Arsenal second FA
Cup. They came in the semi final.
The cup went out in the fourth round.
Champions League that went out in the group stage.
Yeah. So, you know, I didn't, you
know, they think having less games is going to going to help.

(59:17):
But of course, I think, you know, I just had the momentum,
didn't they? They just got stronger and
stronger and stronger didn't. They had a, they had a kind of,
you know, a target. They wanted that treble and they
got it. One thing they didn't do though,
Jonesy was, oh, what was it? They couldn't beat Sheffield
Wednesday at Hillsborough. Thank you. 32 boys have that.

(59:41):
Sorry, that's a sprinkle. That bit at the end.
It can't be too much Man United. It's like, I know I'm wearing
the shirt. Sheffield Wednesday beat Arsenal
September. Yeah, 3/1.
Yeah. That was my first ever chef, a
Wednesday game that season at Hillsborough.
That was at the Canio referee game.

(01:00:02):
Oh yeah, that was on that documentary.
Just watching. Amazing again.
Another awesome season. Game to go to.
I know, I know. I remember because like, yeah,
yeah. No, I've recently acquired,
thanks to Wally at the third kit, a photo of the cameo

(01:00:22):
pushing Paul Alcock over. And I thought, you know what?
I think I've sent you the picture and I actually haven't.
I Oh, I think so, yeah. I think I'll try.
I've got the programme as well. So what I might do is do a
little combo, you know? Yeah, we'll save that.
Yeah, well, we've got to do a Premier League bad Boys episode.
Haven't. We absolutely, yeah.

(01:00:42):
I'd love to kind of find out your feelings and the stadium's
feelings once, because that is another iconic moment that we
still talk about today. Yeah, yeah, always.
We've got so much more to discuss mate, so much more.
We've got too much. We're not.
We're never going to run out this.
Is brilliant. What do you think of that
episode, mate? Good, good.

(01:01:05):
Good. We could have, as I said, we
could have done A2 parter, you know, a three parter.
We just but as I said, there's stuff though.
Absolutely. And we're going to jump into I
think some of these seasons morebecause as I said before, we
recording a lot did happen, you know, half in title races.
Yeah, you know, a lot did happenin these seasons.
So we'll definitely love to touch back on them.

(01:01:27):
I love that. Yeah, absolutely.
We've got to show you this as well.
So after the 9596 I forgot I hadthis.
Is is that the? Newcastle So Newcastle brought
out the official review of 9596 that I've got the VHS here, so

(01:01:49):
they've. Titled it so close.
Yeah. That's a good one, actually,
Yeah. Why would you title it so close
though? Yeah, I know, but if anyone has
Avhs player, seriously, get yourhands on these like I've got,
I've got, you know, I've got them, I've got them all.

(01:02:09):
Jonesy's basically bought the rights to Blockbuster, so like
I've. Just got to get a video player
because my video player kind of chewing up another tape.
So I've got to get one because Ilove watching and they put them
on YouTube. But obviously because of the
rights there's so badly edited, like cut stuff out.
It's annoying and there's parts missing.
Yeah, whenever I get a tattoo mytattoo artist has got Avhs play

(01:02:34):
and we watch movies whilst I tattoo, so I might just get
loads of Sheffield Wednesday season reviews and just take
them I've. Got so many.
I've got season reviews here from Manchester, I've got
Newcastle, Liverpool, there's somuch random ones I've got,
they're great. It's just glorious though, isn't
it? Like Wednesday reviews did.

(01:02:54):
You they did. I, I, I never got them as a kid.
I remember getting a few, the kind of late 90s ones and then
it went to DVD. But I have got a few in my like
list on a few sites, so I might pull the trigger now I've seen
it because there's nothing like that kind of feel of a VHS

(01:03:15):
cassette, you know, I've. Got the I actually got one.
There was someone who they were selling reviews transferred to
DVD from VHS. So I got the Manchester City
9596, the one where they get relegated and it's suddenly
edited that you don't can, you know, oh, they haven't a bad
season or like. Man City are on the charge to

(01:03:37):
division. One, talking about those last
two games of the Arsenal, you know the title win the season,
they cut the last two games. Out, yeah, but really quickly,
yeah. The end.
The end. Put on a dodgy victory song, but
yeah. Oh great, I enjoyed that one.

(01:03:58):
Yeah. Me too mate.
You know, it's a lot of deep diving.
Obviously we've probably missed out on bits, but I think we
covered covered the bases well. We, we did good boy, we did
good, don't you worry about that.
I'll tell you what, right? We've advertised time added on,
haven't we mate? So we have already released your
episode which was about you being a Liverpool fan and all of

(01:04:20):
your beautiful memories. Yeah, we've had some interest in
coming on, which is great. So we haven't forgotten you
guys. We are basically just trying to
work out the structure of our next few episodes because
obviously we want to tie it intoChampions League, FA Cup.
We want to do a bit more nightlystuff as well.
So don't worry, we haven't forgotten your interests.

(01:04:41):
So thank you for DM and us a bigthank you as well Jonesy, I'm
sure you'll agree to those that sent in their Foreign Legion 11.
Yes. Because that looked incredible,
right? Which was amazing.
So, yeah, thanks ever so much for doing that, Jonesy.
I'm sure you want to thank a fewpeople in a minute, but a

(01:05:02):
massive thank you to everyone that's sharing our stories and
that everybody that is commenting on our page, sending
us DMS, telling us how much theylove the episodes.
It's really humbling. And yeah, you've not gone
unnoticed, James E. What would you think mate?
Oh, it's when I see a story shared from someone, it is like

(01:05:27):
loving this podcast just on my daily walk, listening to this,
this like it's, it's good. It's rewarding because we do
this, you know, you know, off the, you know, off our own
backs, just, you know, because we just want to talk 90s, don't
we? It warms.
It warms the cockles of Jonesy'sheart in 40° Australian heat.

(01:05:49):
That's why I don't run. That's why I don't run or
anything. Listen to podcasts just.
Read a review. It's too.
Hot yeah, also as well as it helps if people listening to
whatever you listen to on Apple,if you could give us like a five
star review and write a comment, that helps us as well because it
bumps us up and it helps the podcast get noticed as well

(01:06:12):
because we want everyone to lookinto this.
Yeah. Why have we not mentioned this
before? I don't know.
I was just, we're humble. Yeah, that's it.
Apparently that's what they do on podcasts.
They're like give us a Fire a Star review and.
You're right. Yeah.
Come on, guys. Trivago.
Yeah. Love your stay with the 90s
Premier League podcast. Yeah, and if you can subscribe

(01:06:36):
as well to the YouTube channel, give us a comment on there that
helps as well. Send us your memories as well.
I'm going to probably share moreon the Instagram as well.
So clips from the pod I can't show because of copyright I can
show on Instagram. So yeah, look at for them, like
share all the fun stuff on that one Instagram is.

(01:07:02):
That 90s Premier League podcast.Sorry, James, I thought you're
waiting for me. I was.
I was. I was just watching you, right?
Can you hear me round? Your righty and.
Right. Sorry mate.
Where can they find? You, me.

(01:07:22):
I have a football Dot Jonesy. Where can we find you, Woody?
Oh, steady. But you said that Jonesy people
are going to be looking at Joan and then Z, be careful.
It's Jonesy, not Joan. His name's not Joan, No.
Football dot Joan Z. I'm at Woody W 1988.

(01:07:43):
So yeah, thanks ever so much forfollowing.
Thanks ever so much for listening.
Jonesy, do you want to say goodbye, my friend?
Goodbye to all our friends out there.
We'll see you. We will see you on the next one.
