On September 1, 2024, around 9:32pm in a convenience store, Chef Wendy Drew, who appeared in the Netflix series “You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment” was the victim of a brutal hate crime by 31-year-old, San Francisco resident, Irving Rivera-Lara. Allegedly, Rivera-Lara first called Drew the "N-word" and after she confronted the suspect, he began hitting her in the head repeatedly, which was all captured on a video surveillance camera.
