It is through God’s divine guidance that God's shows us the path that He has for each individual's life. This guidance comes from being discipled. This can be as a child and your parents teaching you the “rights and wrongs” for your actions and behavior. Or it comes from a teacher or counselor helping you learn skills for as you grow and use in life.

As christians, we get guidance from our pastors and evangelists that bring a word from God to strengthen, encourage, correct or rebuke us. But each of us should have a close relationship with a leader or mentor that is discipling us.

Paul wrote letters to Timothy and Titus as their mentor to strengthen them as leaders. This is what discipleship is about.

This is evident when Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy chapter three verses 16 & 17 that “All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.”

You know that the Word of God is inspired or God breathed and that it is useful for the training and edification of the saints. So how does each person apply this in their individual life?

There are 4 points that Paul shared with Timothy in those verses that I am going to share. Two of them are on beliefs, what we should or shouldn’t believe. The other two are on behavior, what each of us should or shouldn’t do.

  1.  Teaching-These are instructions through God’s Word. God reveals His Word through His Spirit to us.
    • 1 Corinthians  2:12-13
    • John 6:64
    • Psalms 71:17
    • Colossians 3:16
  2. Rebuking-This is when God through the Holy Spirit brings conviction of sinful actions.
    • 1 Timothy 2:14
    • 1 Corinthian 15:33
    • Proverbs 15:32
    • Romans 8 :5
    • 1 John 2:16
    • Titus 3 :3
  3. Correction-This is a revealing of bad behavior that comes from conviction of those sinful actions.
    • Proverbs 15:32
    • Proverbs 10:17
    • Proverbs 3:11-12
    •  Proverbs 19:20
  4. Righteous training. This is developing the right behavior of what God wants you to do and act.
    • Romans 7:6
    • 1 Peter chapter 3:1
    • 1 timothy 2:14
    • Titus 2 :1
    • 1 Peter 1:15
    • 1 Peter 3:17
    • Ephesians 5:1- 2
    • 1 Corinthians 11:1

In conclusion, I want to go back to those verses in 2 Timothy chapter 3, but this time as you read it, insert your personal name, where it says “man of God”.

It would sound like this” All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training righteousness, so that Ryan Hare, may be complete, equipped for every good work.

When you go to build a house, you don't just start
constructing how you picture itin your mind.
You would sit down with anarchitect and share what you
envision your house to look likeand what you want on the inside.
You would go into great detailsof all the things you want and
don't want to be included.
Some are key areas like the sizeof the home or how many rooms

(00:23):
and bathrooms that are needed.
But then you also tell them ofthe small details that you want
including the specific style tubor shower, shelves, kitchen
setup, and all the otheramenities.
Then the architect will sit downand show you what it would look
like.
And if it's possible to do thosethings, there may be some things

(00:46):
that he will have to changebecause of codes or regulations
that are required for you andyour family's safety.
The same is true in yourspiritual life.
I will be sharing with you abouthow God has a blueprint.
To empower you on life's journeyin this episode of the 318

(01:07):
project.
This is the 318 project, a guideto equip men through godly
principles and develop hishusband's fathers and sons.
And now your host, Ryan hair.
Hello.
I'm Ryan here and welcome to the318 Project.
So, how does each of us knowthat we are walking the right

(01:29):
path that God has for our lives?
Each person is unique and hastheir own personality, quirks,
and talents, but God still givesus basic equipment and training
tools through his word in theBible to equip us as his
servants.
It is through God's divineguidance that he shows us the

(01:53):
path that he has for eachindividual's life.
This guidance comes from beingdiscipled.
This can be as a child and yourparents teaching you the rights
and wrongs for your actions andbehaviors.
Or it comes from a teacher orcounselor in school helping you
to learn skills for as you growto be able to use in life.

(02:17):
As Christians though, we getguidance from our pastors and
evangelists that bring a wordfrom God to strengthen,
encourage, correct, or evenrebuke us.
But each of us should have aclose relationship with a leader
or mentor that is discipling usat the same time.

(02:38):
Peter wrote letters to Timothyand Titus as their mentor to
strengthen them as leaders inthe churches they were a part
of.
This is what discipleship isabout.
This is evident when Paul toldTimothy in 2nd Timothy chapter 3
verses 16 and 17 that AllScripture is inspired by God and

(03:01):
profitable for teaching, forreproof, for correction, for
training in righteousness, sothat the man of God may be
adequate, equipped for everygood work.
You know that the Word of God isinspired, or God breathed.
And that it is useful for thetraining and edification of the

(03:22):
saints.
So how does each person applythis in their individual life?
There are four points that Paulshared with Timothy in those
verses that I'm going to sharewith you.
Two of them are on beliefs, whatwe should or shouldn't believe.
The other two are on behavior, what each of us should or
shouldn't do.

(03:44):
The first is teaching.
These are instructions throughGod's word.
His word through his spirit tous.
First Corinthians chapter two, verses 12 and 13 says, now we
have received not the spirit ofthe world, but the spirit who is
from God, who that we may knowthe things freely given to us by

(04:07):
God, which things we also speak, not in words taught by human
wisdom, but in those taught bythe spirit, combining spiritual
thoughts with spiritual words.
As you read and study God'sWord, the Holy Spirit will teach
and guide you to understand whatyou believe.
Even Jesus told his disciples inJohn chapter 6 verse 64, But

(04:33):
there are some of you who do notbelieve.
It isn't about pushing personalconvictions onto others, but
simply sharing what God's Wordsays how each Christian or
individual should believe.
And that is where we encourageone another.
David David then said in Psalms71 verse 17, he said, Oh God,

(04:57):
you have taught me from my youthand I still declare your
wondrous deeds.
David held onto those beliefsthat God revealed to him as a
young man in the fields thathelped him as he later became a
mighty warrior and king ofIsrael.
Colossians 3 verse 16 says, Letthe word of Christ richly dwell

(05:19):
within you, with all wisdomteaching and admonishing one
another with psalms and hymnsand spiritual songs, singing
with thankfulness in your heartsto God.
Now, God's word will teach andinstruct you as you grow in
wisdom in those areas of yourlife that God is wanting to use

(05:41):
you in.
The second area is rebuking.
Now, I know this sounds toughand harsh, but this is when God
through the Holy Spirit bringsconviction of sinful actions.
This comes in many differentways, such as conviction while
you are reading the word of God.

(06:02):
Maybe you felt conviction when apastor, a teacher, or evangelist
was sharing a message or lessonthat God had given them to
speak.
Or, maybe it was simply the HolySpirit convicting your heart
when you were doing somethingwhether or not you knew it was
sin.

(06:23):
Paul instructed Timothy to notbe deceived.
In 1 Timothy 2, verse 14, hetells him, And it was not Adam
who was deceived, but the womanbeing deceived fell into
transgression.
Yes, Eve was deceived by Satan.

(06:43):
Adam didn't do what God wantedhim to do in leading his family
and marriage.
As a leader or mentor, they musttake the time to instruct those
they are leading on what God'sword says to help them watch for
the attacks of the enemy and howto use God's word to fight
against him.

(07:04):
Paul would even tell the churchin Corinth in first Corinthians
chapter 15 verse 33 of not beingdeceived.
That of bad company corruptsgood morals.
Again, there are times when youmay have those intentions to
help, but you are led astraybecause of those things that are
tempting and enticing to you.

(07:26):
Each of us must developdiscipline in our actions and
beliefs.
Proverbs 15 verse 32 says he whoneglects discipline despises
himself, but he who listens toreproof acquires understanding.
As you begin understanding God'sword, it will reveal those false

(07:47):
beliefs that were picked up fromyour old sinful nature.
It is that sinful nature thatPaul spoke of in Romans 8 verse
5 that says, For those who areaccording to the flesh set their
minds on the things of theflesh, but those who are
according to the Spirit, thethings of the Spirit.

(08:09):
And he also said in chapterseven, verse five, that for
while we were in the flesh, thesinful passions, which were
aroused by the law were at workin the members of our body to
bear fruit for death.
In 1 John chapter 2 verse 16, itsays for all that is in the

(08:32):
world, the lust of the flesh andthe lust of the eyes and the
boastful pride of life is notfrom the father, but is from the
world.
It is that sinful nature of manthat wants to rebel and go
against what God truly wants.
each of us to believe.
Titus 3 verse 3 says, For wealso once were foolish

(08:55):
ourselves, disobedient,deceived, enslaved to various
lusts and pleasures, spendingour life in malice and envy,
hatefully hating one another.
When you allow the Holy Spiritto rebuke or bring conviction,
it brings a change in your life,in your beliefs, your actions,

(09:19):
your manners, and your behavior.
The third area is correction.
This is a revealing of badbehavior that comes from that
conviction I was just tellingyou about.
of those sinful natures andsinful actions.
Solomon wrote many proverbs oncorrecting wrongful behavior and

(09:42):
what you and I should orshouldn't do.
Proverbs 15 verse 32 says, hewho neglects discipline despises
himself, but he who Listens toreproof, acquires understanding.
When you are truly repentant ofyour past deeds, you listen to

(10:03):
what God is telling you and youbegin to gain an understanding
of what the father is teachinghis child.
Proverbs 10 verse 17 says he ison the path of life who heeds.
instruction.
But he who ignores reproof goesastray.
There are those, just as Jesussaid, that followed him, yet

(10:26):
some didn't believe or ignoredhis teachings to change.
Proverbs 3, verses 11 and 12says, My son, do not reject the
discipline.
of the Lord, or loathe hisreproof.
For whom the Lord loves, hereproves, even as a father
corrects the son in whom hedelights.

(10:49):
As a parent, correction shouldcome out of love and not anger.
This is to help teach the childthat there are consequences for
bad behavior, but that thecorrection is in love to help
them grow and learn from thosemistakes and actions.
Even in Proverbs 19 verse 20,Solomon said, listen to counsel

(11:12):
and accept discipline that youmay be wise the rest of your
days.
When you receive godly counseland allow it to bring correction
and freedom, it will bring achange in your life for God's
glory.
Even as a parent brings thatcorrection, it may be painful
and harmful and hurt even theparent to bring that correction

(11:35):
and punishment.
But they are doing it out oflove and not out of hate.
Now, finally, there is righteoustraining.
This is developing the rightbehavior for what God wants you
to do and act.
Romans 7 verse 6 says, But nowwe have been released from the

(11:57):
law, having died to that bywhich we were bound, so that we
serve in newness of the Spirit, and not in oldness of the
letter.
Peter wrote in first Peterchapter 3 verse 16.
He says and keep a goodconscience So that in the thing

(12:20):
in which you are slandered Thosewho revile your good behavior in
Christ will be put to shameThere will be those that come
against you when their lives areconvicted by the righteous
behavior you lead.
There are times that it isn'tabout condemning others for

(12:41):
their actions or behaviors, butto simply live a holy and
righteous life before them as anexample in love and not in
pride.
Paul would encourage Timothy andTitus to godly behavior.
1 Timothy 4 verse 12.

(13:02):
He says let no one look down onyour youthfulness, but rather in
speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity, show yourself an
example to those who believe.
It is being that example toothers, even at whatever stage
of life you're in, whether youare still a young person in your

(13:26):
middle age or as an older personthat has gone through life, you
can still show yourself as anexample in those areas in your
life.
In Titus two, verse one, hesaid, but as for you speak the
things which are fitting forsound doctrine, again, it is

(13:47):
that sound doctrine that linesup with the word of God, that as
you speak, it is correspondingwith what God's word says and
not just what you are, how youthink it should be or what
others have told you, but whenyou have truly sought what God
is telling you to share withothers, We must also display
godly behavior in times oftrials and temptations in first

(14:11):
Peter chapter 1 verse 15 He saysbut like the Holy One who called
you be holy yourselves in all ofyour behavior Even when you are
being tested and tried it isholding to those convictions
that God has given you Throughhis word Peter also said in

(14:33):
first Peter Chapter three, verse17, for it is better if God
should, will it so that yousuffer for doing what is right
rather than doing what is wrong.
There are those times that theenemy will test and tempt you to
see if you will hold to therighteous life and standards

(14:53):
that God has called you to live.
Satan will do whatever he can todestroy your testimony.
We are then to imitate Christ inour behavior.
Ephesians chapter 5 verses 1 and2 he says, Therefore be
imitators of God as belovedchildren and walk in love just

(15:15):
as Christ also loved you andgave himself up for us an
offering and a sacrifice to Godas a fragrant aroma.
He would then also tell thechurch in Corinth in first
Corinthians chapter 11, verseone be imitators of me, just as
I am of Christ as a leader andmentor.

(15:38):
You are.
Taking what you have learnedfrom God's word and you are now
training and showing it toothers leading them but also as
someone that is being Discipledyou are looking to your mentor
and you are wanting to make surethat their character and their
behaviors are lining up with howGod's character and behavior

(15:59):
was.
So again, it is lining up ourfaith, being in imitators of God
in Christ.
Finally, we see that the writerof Hebrew said, remember those
who led you, who spoke the wordof God to you and considering
the result of their conduct, imitate their faith again, as we
look to those that.

(16:20):
Are leading and guiding us.
Do they line up what they aresaying?
Is it lining up with the word ofGod as a child of God?
We must look to those that walkin a godly and righteous manner
that is in accordance with God'sword and follow them.
It is then that your life willmirror what God has for you.

(16:43):
In conclusion, I want to go backto those verses in 2 Timothy
chapter 3, but I want tochallenge you to this, that as
you read it, insert yourpersonal name where it says man
of God.
It would sound something likethis.

(17:03):
All scripture is inspired by Godand is profitable for teaching,
for rebuking, for correcting, for training righteousness.
So that Ryan hair.
