Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hey everyone, welcome back to the 3W podcast.
I'm Kasie Yokley.
I am always the one hostingthis and usually I have guests
with me.
But I don't have any guestswith me today because I just
wanted to hop on here and say hiand welcome back, because it's
been six plus months since we'vedone a podcast.
3w is a super small businessand, with full transparency, I

(00:27):
just wanted to come on here andjust be myself and I tell you
that we had a few snags alongthe way coming back to you, but
all of that has been resolved.
It was mostly all out of ourcontrol, so we are back full
force.
So hopefully these will stillcome out every other week or
maybe weekly, I don't know,we'll see.
We're going to do a bunch ofnew things this year per se or

(00:50):
this season of podcasting, sowe'll just hopefully you'll tune
in and just see what continuesto happen.
If you are new here, thank you.
If you're returning, thank youas well, but I will tackle onto
the new people.
If you're new here, just quicksnippets about me.
My name Kasie Yokley.
I'm a transplant to NorthwestArkansas, originally from

(01:11):
Oklahoma.
Yes, I bleed orange, but I willabsolutely cheer for your
Razorbacks.
I think that is so fantastic tohave that school right down the
road.
It's such a great school.
And um, but 3W Magazine itstands for the who, what, where.
It's a local annual publicationdevoted entirely to the
nonprofits in Northwest Arkansas.

(01:32):
Um, it's 17 years old.
I'm sorry for saying um, so Iapologize.
Also, I have notes in front ofme so I do have to continuously
look down at them, so just bearwith me.
I guess Also I've said so abunch Good times.
Anyways, the magazine is 17years old, so we've been doing

(01:52):
this for a crazy amount of time.
We have survived a recessionand a pandemic and now it's just
onward and upward.
I feel like actually, I didn'tjust start it alone.
I have a great.
I am the sole owner now but Ihave a great team of people
behind me, but it was LeslieZanoff and I that started it 17

(02:13):
years ago.
She's moved on to a health andwellness journey full of
meditation and public speaking,so that's exciting for her.
And then I'm just going tocontinue on the publishing path
because that's what's excitingfor me.
And then I'm just going tocontinue on the publishing path
because that's what's excitingfor me and I absolutely love dot
connecting and raising fundsfor our area nonprofits via

(02:34):
awareness.
So I just I love the nonprofitworld.
I did not know that almost 20years ago when we started this,
but I truly have a heart forthem.
Another that's excitingNorthwest Arkansas is a special
little bubble.
I like to say that's why 3Wexists.
A few years ago, benton Countywas voted the most giving county

(02:58):
per capita in the country andit makes me sad that Washington
County wasn't included in thatbecause I truly think had they
been looped together, they wouldhave been the most giving two
counties in the country percapita.
But I don't like the rules, soit's okay.
Regardless, it's essentiallywhy I have a job.
Before all the fancy foodieeateries and amazing trails and

(03:23):
the consistent and electrifyingmusic scene that we have, I mean
the culture has absolutelyevolved, but almost 20 years ago
when we started this magazine, the culture was nonprofit events
.
That's where you went to beseen and to do good in the
community and it's just I kindof fell in love with it.
So that's why 3W exists.

(03:44):
How exciting is that?
3w also is not anyone, it's not,it's not just me.
I have Ashley, who you all seeall over town covering all the
events, getting all the socialmedia posted.
We have an amazing photographer, courtney Matthews, who is so
great and creative, and we haveLaura Taylor, our designer.

(04:09):
So, and then we also haveinterns.
We have a new intern starting,I think, at the end of May, so
that's exciting.
I always love to get new peopleback in and kind of pick their
brains and see what they areinto.
So she goes to the Universityof Alabama.
So how fun is that going to be?
Don't hate on her just becauseshe says Roll Tide, it's good to

(04:31):
love everyone.
3w keeps us super busy.
You know.
We also have the magazinethat's the first and foremost
baby.
Then this podcast that takes alittle bit of time, and then we,
you know, hit all the eventsand try to deliver and post and
do all the good content for youall.
I am a mom also of two boys.

(04:54):
I have a 15 year old and a 10yearyear-old.
Actually, he'll be 11 at theend of the month, but for the
sake of this, he's still 10, andhe is my baby.
They play baseball and soccer,so you won't see me at very many
events these days, because I'malways on the field cheering

(05:14):
them on, and that's where I wantto be.
So 3W the day job.
I'm always at work but I don'tget to hit as many events as I
used to.
But don't worry, I'll be back.
You know I don't get tochauffeur them around or attend
all their games forever, buthopefully 3W will be around

(05:35):
forever anyways.
So I love all of those thingsand, like I said, this is super
fast, quick end and you know Ihave my notes and have to read
from them Side note, and I'm allover the place.
So I apologize.
I have very consistent, wellpolished notes, but I'm not
feeling very notey right now.

(05:56):
So I apologize because we'relike all over the place and
zooming around or I am.
Did you know?
Going back to the per capitaand the giving counties, did you
know that Benton and WashingtonCounty have over 4000
nonprofits?
I think that's an insane numberand that is just a true
testament to how philanthropicNorthwest Arkansas is.

(06:17):
It is a shiny little goldbubble that steps up for its
neighbor in any shape or form, and I could not be more proud to
live here.
I just think that's insane andawesome.
So I just I hope you all leavewith that fun little nugget of
information.
Change is the only constant.

(06:37):
While scary, it's what we need.
Change is good.
You just need to be open toreceiving it and seeing it.
That is why we have 4,000 plusnonprofits.
I think it was like 15 yearsago.
Someone asked us how manynonprofits there were and we did

(06:58):
a quick Google search and Ithink it was like 2700 in the
two counties and now we have4000 plus and I only expect that
number to grow up, to grow asour population grows.
But I just think that is that'sthe good change that you see,
and also the amount that's beingraised is the good change that
we want to see, because that'sfurthering the nonprofit

(07:21):
submissions all over our areaand that only benefits us.
So it's very cyclical and Ilike it and it's just a giant
hug on Northwest Arkansas.
Speaking of change, the 3Wpodcast has an official sponsor
this year.
So that's fun and I meant tostop and get some, but I was

(07:42):
running late from a boardmeeting to record this podcast.
But it's Hershey's.
And not just Hershey, butHershey's Saucy Snacks.
Did you know they have SkinnyPop and Dot's Homestyle Pretzels
?
Yum, I mean.
Skinny Pop is always in theoffice and definitely always at
home, and when I pick the boysup in the afternoon.

(08:03):
I always throw bags of skinnypop in there for him.
But have you had the dotshomestyle pretzels that are
cinnamon and sugar?
Because if you haven't, pleaselet me know.
I will absolutely drop off abag to you at work or at home.
They're freaking amazing Likethey're such an amazing guilty
pleasure.
It sounds kind of like an oddcombo, but it is so good.

(08:25):
So definitely give them somelove.
Shout out to Hershey saltysnacks.
Definitely grab you some skinnypop, popcorn or dots pretzels
the next time you're at Walmart, because those snacks are where
it's at and with that I'm done.
I told you I was going to besuper fast.

(08:47):
I don't want to take up a lotof time.
It's Maycember.
We're all in the throngs ofMaycember.
It is such a delightful, chaotic time of the year.
I cannot believe there are justdays left in the school year.
So I can't wait for summer.
I just want you all to enjoythe May, the chaos that is

(09:07):
coming our way.
Welcome back to the 3W Podcastand please keep inspiring a
culture of giving Till next time, everybody.
See you later.
