Jacqueline sits down with another one of her grad school classmates – professor, author, and poet, Dr. Nicole Lavalais. Dr. Lavalais discusses her debut novel, Summer of the Cicadas and why it was important for her to write about a character who struggles with mental illness. She also opens up about going through a divorce after 24 years of marriage, discovering new-found joy in mid-life, and enjoying the process of making herself a priority. She is currently working on her next creative project.
