(00:07):
Welcome back to another episode ofthe Micro Podcast on Podcasting.
I'm your host, Christine Blosdale, your multimedia coach, and today we're
gonna talk about the importance of.
Drum roll, having awebsite for your podcast
and to reiterate the importanceof having that website.
(00:30):
My guest today is Dotty Scott.
She's the purveyor of premiumwebsites.net and ask dotty.com,
and she's gonna tell you why it'simportant for you to have a website
associated with your podcast thought.
You, you're amazing and I adore you.
And, um, I cannot express enough to peoplewho have podcasts, the importance of
(00:51):
creating a website or at least a page ontheir, um, website, uh, dedicated to that.
Can you talk really quickly about that, the importance of having a website if
you have a podcast or at least a page?
Sure.
So if you have a podcast, I'm assumingthat your goal is to get listeners so.
(01:12):
You can sell advertisement andmake money with your podcast.
I'm just gonna make thatassumption that that is your goal.
So if you want to attract the rightkind of audience, then they need
to know what they're listening tobefore they get into that podcast.
(01:33):
And you can do that by creating a websitethat talks all about whatever your topic.
That has your personality and yourcharacter, because I'll be honest, there's
probably a thousand different marketingpodcasts out there, if not more than that.
But you're gonna listen to and gravitatetowards the people that you enjoy
(01:54):
listening to the people that are likeyou, that talk like you do, and resonate
with where you are in your business.
Having a.
Or landing page.
Either one is going tohelp you find those people.
It gives you a place that you canembed your podcast so they can
listen right from your website.
(02:16):
If they're not subscribed toany of the podcast places, um,
which I haven't been for years.
I listen.
The ones I choose to, Ilisten from their websites.
So if they didn't have one, they're not getting me as an.
So there's a lot of, there's aton more reasons, but the biggest
(02:37):
thing is so people can find yourmessage and join your tribe.
Absolutely.
And also so that you can comeup in search engines as well.
Right?
Yes.
That's, that's part of Find your message.
Yeah.
Because if you're just listed on,even if you're just listed on Spotify
or Apple Podcast, which is a greatfeeling as a podcaster to be finally
(03:01):
listed, ah, my show is finally listed.
But if you're not in the search engines, then how are people supposed to find you?
So you wanna be found by anybody.
And here's the key.
So if you want to, we'll take, Christine, you're looking for people that want
to learn how to create a podcast.
So if you are that person, You arebusiness owner, you're thinking,
(03:23):
oh my gosh, my business coach tellsme I need to have a podcast and
I don't even know how to start.
I'm gonna go to the searchengines and I'm gonna Google.
How do I start a podcast?
If Christine has a website with a titlethat says, how do I start a podcast?
It's gonna show up in Google.
And if she has her podcastembedded on her website, which
(03:46):
I don't know if she does, or.
Then they can listen rightthere and they can say, oh wow.
She really knows what she's talking about.
I really resonate with this person.
I'm going to learn from her.
What else does she do?
What else can she teach me?
Does she have courses?
You know, all these things becauseshe was found in the search engines.
(04:09):
