(00:11):
Welcome back to the MicroPodcast on Podcasting.
I am your host, Christine Blosdale, yourexpert authority coach, and I'm also a
podcast coach for you folks who wannacreate a podcast in your beginning.
Your journey.
Today's very special because in thisepisode, we're going to be speaking
with Julie Hood, who is the creatorbehind course creators hq.com, and
(00:35):
she's gonna talk about the importancethat if you have a podcast, why you
want to create a course based on yourexpertise and promote it in your podcast.
Let's listen to what she has to say.
Do.
Can you talk about the importance ifsomeone has created a podcast about
the importance of creating a courseand about how they can advertise
(00:58):
that course in their own podcast?
Yes, yes.
Right.
So I work with a lot of podcasterswho have recognized that building
up an audience to where theycould get to normal advertising
rates, it's gonna take a while.
So instead to have a monetizationto your podcast, One of the things
(01:23):
I really, really love is to use amini course or a course of your own.
So especially if you have a nonfictionpodcast where you're in helping people,
teaching people, instructing people on acertain topic, if you can put together.
A mini course or a smaller course, andyou can sell that then on your podcast.
(01:46):
And it doesn't have to becomplicated or super salesy.
It's just a short little thing.
Hey, by the way, I've got thismini course I put together.
If you wanna learn more and youwanna know about it, here's the link.
I'll put it in the show notes.
You can click over and it becomes areally good revenue source for podcasters.
That is not a typical one thata lot of people do, but I.
(02:07):
I've been thrilled with it becauseI use my podcast all the time to
help connect with my students.
Um, I would suggest that peoplealso, if you have, if it's a, you
know, if it's a book, if it's a,if it's a, a physical book or a
course that is an evergreen, right?
So that if anybody's listeningto it in February or January,
(02:28):
wherever, um, it doesn't matter.
But if you, um, if you'reable to create in Zoom.
Make a 30 to 42nd.
Um, recording in Zoom with either andshowing them, you know, you, you, you can
get this book or you can get this course, any kind of visuals that you can have,
and it can go, you can do that in editing.
(02:50):
You can actually put the visual ofthe course, the artwork and things,
but if you're able to create that inZoom, then you have the video version
of it and the audio, um, so that youcan insert it in your podcast, but
you can also put it on YouTube withthe video version of your podcast.
Um, I do that right now with just,um, um, announcing, uh, my strategy
(03:13):
sessions, the free strategy sessions.
But I think for products specificit would be very, very smart
to just put that in there.
And again, don't make it like she wassaying, don't make it five minutes long.
You know, make it like a commercial.
Make it short, short and sweet.
Boom.
Right.
And give yourself plenty of runway.
I had a coach once that told me six toeight weeks out from a specific thing,
(03:37):
you should be starting to talk about it.
And I remember my mouth kind ofdropped cuz I would do maybe a couple
episodes, two, three episodes andshe's like, oh no, you people need to
hear it over and over and over again.
So six to eight weeks ahead.
So, Yeah.
Yeah.
And same thing for youremail blasts out as well.
You gotta remind people, give them, anddon't do a countdown clock necessarily.
(03:58):
You don't have to, but you couldsay you got four days left, you
got, you know, 24 hours left.
Those type of things.
Um, people will, um, especially whenthey're, they're reminded that they don't
have much time left, they will, you know, hopefully respond and, and get on there.
