Speaker 1 (00:00):
Do you have the
courage, do you have the faith
in whatever your dream is, totake those steps?
Everybody who's ever beensuccessful before you or in real
time with you has done that.
They've said fuck the statusquo.
When I was a freshman in highschool a very long time ago, I
(00:27):
lived out in the suburbs at aplace called the Front Range,
which is really nestled right upagainst the Rockies here in
Colorado.
At that time it seemed prettyfar outside of the city of
Denver.
It seems much closer now thatthe city has grown so large.
But in my freshman year we dida field trip called A Day in
Denver.
Now I was excited about thisfield trip because I got
(00:49):
partnered with a girl that I hadbeen fond of for that entire
school year.
This was toward the end of theschool year in the springtime,
and I just thought she was themost beautiful thing I'd ever
seen in my life at that time andI was so excited to be her
partner.
So we get close to the timewhen we're getting ready to go
and we've got to have a plantogether and we talk about the
(01:10):
things that the teachers want topoint out or find or discover
about being in downtown Denverand I realized something my
interpretation of what they areasking us for, they're asking us
to do, was very different thanhers.
She wanted to consider what theteacher wanted, not just what
the paper said, and thenexecuted our own way.
(01:31):
But she wanted to execute itspecifically in the way the
teacher wanted.
And I engaged her a little bitand said, man, you know, fuck
that, let's do this a differentway, let's do this our own way.
She didn't like that and shedidn't like that at at all, and
she made it very clear to methat that was not acceptable.
And I can tell you in aninstant she went from being
something that I, a girl that Ihad been very, very fond of, to
(01:55):
a girl that I didn't find wasattractive at all.
Coincidentally, the group nextto us was the daughter of one of
the largest strip clubs, afamily that owned one of the
largest strip clubs in DenverLong blonde hair, tall, really
just like an early 90s rockerwho I had always been a little
bit intimidated by.
I was aware of her.
In the same time, the samemoment, I hear her really
(02:19):
verbalize my same attitude.
She didn't give a shit what theteacher wanted.
She wanted to go downtown, explore Denver and not be afraid
.
And in an instant she became sobeautiful to me, just her
attitude, her outlook, her beingfearless, on wanting to find
(02:39):
out and discover things her ownway.
Anyway, from that day forward,I recognized very clearly and
that haunted me into college.
Honestly, college I didn'tfinish Not just categorically
rejecting the advice or thedirection not advice, but the
direction of others.
Right, get into a college courseand they're like well, that
technically answered thequestion, young Mr Fierstein,
(03:01):
but it didn't do it our way.
Like I get this incrediblerebellion, this rejection of
this idea that I have to doanything anybody else's way, and
I've always been that way, andit sounds arrogant.
I don't mean it to be arrogant,it's just really.
As I've gotten older, Irealized what a gift that is.
Nobody doubts that otherlargely successful people, other
(03:24):
just largely successful people,are innovators.
Right, they do things their ownway.
And so I question all the timeso why does anybody take
direction from others?
Why don't we do everything ourown way?
And that's evolved into thisidea that God, in my opinion
this is just my thought createseach one of us with a purpose in
(03:46):
equal measure.
He gives us the things we needbefore we're born to attain that
purpose, discover it and tolive in it.
I don't blame that on anyparticular God.
I don't.
I'm not associated with aparticular religion.
I don't mean that politicallycorrect, I mean I don't.
I believe in my creator, my ownway.
I don't require direction inorder to do that.
(04:08):
You pay a price living your lifethis way.
On one hand, it's much easierto conform, do what you're told,
be good little boys, goodlittle girls.
Follow the envy that wediscover now on social media
platforms, compare our lives tothose people and always come up
short.
Somehow Somehow seems to be thenorm, right?
This guy has this car, thatperson has that thing, or they
(04:28):
have this lifestyle.
Or I made how many dollars bythe time I'm 30?
I'm so tired of hearing thatI'm nauseated at this point,
constantly building constructsaround us to compare ourselves
to.
I bring this up because one ofthe things I value more and more
as I get older and I have moreand more of a life to reflect
back on.
I realize the times I made myown decisions, regardless of
(04:52):
those around me, their thoughts, their input, their need to
control, most importantly, theirfears.
I realize that those times Ilistened to what's right here
inside of me were the times Imade the very best decisions.
And that's not revelation.
We all know that.
But it's so hard to live ourlives that way and it's gotten
(05:13):
worse.
This next generation coming upwith cell phones and things from
the time they were born, these, you know 20-something,
30-something-year-olds Again aconstruct.
Look at what this person isdoing.
Look at what that person isdoing.
Do you have a Lamborghini at 22years old?
Do you have $100 million inyour bank account by the time
you're this old?
Come on, those are ways ofsaying I have this and you don't
(05:36):
.
You should do it my way.
You should conform to thisdirection, you should be under
my control so that you canaccomplish this outcome.
We all want to share the thingswe've done in life.
That brings us reward, and thebenevolent side of all people
wants to promote that, wants toshare it, and we should.
(05:57):
But as individuals we candecide.
If we want to really listen tothat.
Do we want to bend the need offear and conform to what others
have done before us?
What happens when we do that?
What happens when we take thedirection of other people?
Not advice.
Advice is wonderful.
Nostalgic advice is even morewonderful.
(06:20):
Right Stories from our historyand the wisdom of those that
came before us has a huge value.
But at the end of the day, weput that value into our hearts
and we make a choice.
We consider the advice, ofcourse, but do we take the
direction from others To whatend?
So that we can become like them?
Is that the point of this envyfor this next generation,
(06:40):
slathered all over social mediaevery waking moment of their
lives?
What's lost?
What's lost is that voiceinside of us.
Whether you blame that on God orintuition or the universe, I
don't care.
I personally think it comesfrom our creator.
I think that voice is whatguides us into our purpose.
No matter which creator youbelieve in, it doesn't matter to
(07:02):
me and I certainly have noauthority in the subject.
I do believe in God.
I do believe we were created bya higher power and I believe
that higher power is strictlyand purely benevolent and that
they, that higher power,instills purpose.
That part of the journey oflife is discovering not just
(07:22):
what that purpose is, but thestrength within ourselves to
discover it.
I say that because the world atlarge is so against it.
Do what you're told, follow thestatus quo, bow your head, bend
your knee and accept your fateas drawn by other human beings.
(07:48):
There's people in this worldthat need that, that enjoy that,
and that's okay.
This isn't about judging them.
I'm speaking to those whoreject that idea.
I'm speaking to those that havea feeling, instilled by their
gut, by God, whoever thatthere's something wrong with the
construct.
There's something wrong whensomebody else is telling us to
(08:11):
do something, to take our livesdown a trajectory.
I don't know how many peopleI've talked to whose mom and dad
said you'll either be a lawyer,an engineer or a doctor, and
anything less will devalue youas a human being Coming from a
pit.
What kind of fear drives that?
I can tell you, the voice ofbenevolence, the voice of a
(08:32):
creator or just the voice insideof ourselves, never says that.
It never tells us bend to fear.
It never tells us to join thecrew, join the club, follow what
the others are doing, becausethe outcome is inevitable.
We end up like them.
To those who want to do betteror have a different idea of what
(08:53):
victory is in their life, whatsuccess is, money, anything
whatever, doesn't matter, justaccomplishment, contribution to
others.
Self-sacrifice might be yourgoal in life.
Sacrifice things in your lifefor the betterment of others,
because that's your contribution.
It doesn't matter, I don't givea flying fuck if you drive a
Honda Accord or you drive aBugatti, it doesn't matter to me
(09:17):
.
What I want to connect with arethe people out there who have
that voice.
They hear it and whenever theydo anything of them, heed that
calling.
There's a sickness thatovercomes them.
I want to let you know you don'thave to do it.
You don't have to bend the headbow to the way of others
because they're afraid that, left to your own devices, you
(09:40):
might not do things their way.
They should be afraid of that.
The truth is, they should honorthe fact that you have the
courage let's call it is theballs to do it your own way.
That's the test of life.
Do you have the courage, do youhave the faith in whatever your
dream is, to take those steps?
(10:00):
Everybody who's ever beensuccessful before you or in real
time with you has done that.
They've said fuck the statusquo, forget what the other
people are doing to secure asafe, dependable, predictable
life and follow that voice, follow that intuition, that gut
(10:22):
feeling, follow your purpose.
Follow the pursuit of yourpurpose.
We're all individuals.
We all have an individualpurpose.
Do it your way.
You know I'm going to relatethis to technology.
That's what we do here, and I'mgoing to do that now to the
younger people that are outthere that know there's
(10:45):
something wrong with theirlife's direction.
I feel right here, right here, there's another way to do life.
I invite you to not be afraid.
I invite you to go down thatrabbit hole, dig deep inside of
you, all the way to the bottom, and look at that purpose right
in the face.
Even if you can't read it, evenif you can't come up from that
(11:09):
exercise and write down whatthat purpose is, know that it's
there and then look around you.
There are resources everywhere.
Think of your life in pursuitof that purpose.
Think of your life just tryingto figure out what that purpose
is.
Who cares what social mediatells you it should be or what
(11:30):
that should look like?
Look inside of you.
It's there 100% of the time.
It's there.
The resources are all aroundyou too, more so today than ever
in history.
There's a lot of peopleestablished who are rejecting
the idea that this is happeningright now.
(11:52):
Let them reject it.
Let them be afraid of the worldas it turns, as it turns into a
world based on human ingenuityand the manifestation of
artificial intelligence.
Let them For those of us tryingto discover purpose, for those
of us looking maybe to mentorsor people who came before us
(12:13):
living in real time with us, buthave been around that block a
few times, let them, let youhear the things we could have
done had this technology beenavailable to us in our 20s.
The trick is to their advice.
The fundamentals don't change.
It still comes down to courage.
It still comes down to beingwilling to take that first step
(12:38):
in pursuit of that purpose.
Just realize that you've gotmore around you today than we've
ever had before.
There's less to be afraid ofnow than ever before in that
pursuit.
If you have a calling and I knowyou do if you're the kind of
(12:58):
person who's confused about whatto do about it, if you're the
kind of person out there who'sgot this nagging, longing for
something more and you're notsure how to do it, you're not
sure where to go, you're notsure how to get it, you may not
be sure what the next step is,you're not ignorant.
You're just about to embark ona journey to turn your life into
(13:22):
the greatest adventure youcould ever know.
If you take the step, takecomfort in realizing there's
more around you, moreopportunity than there ever has
been in history.
So why not?
You heard me say it many timesthe homeless guy with a laptop
here, right here in our city thecity I now live in, by the way
(13:46):
opens up a chat GBT and says howdo I go from being homeless to
a wealthy citizen in Denver?
Writing his book is step three.
Think about that.
That's a homeless guy sittingoutside a Starbucks.
What can you do with theadvantages you have in your life
to heed that calling?
We're here to help.
I'm here to help.
Don't be afraid.
(14:06):
Lean in to what's possible.
Lean in to a life that you'vealways wanted.
Each minute that passes is aminute lost.
It's unrecoverable.
You don't get a second chance.
I don't, you don't, nobody does.
From the richest guy in theworld to the post guy in the
world, we get 24 hours in a dayand none of us know how many
days we have.
Think about that.
(14:27):
The more people that use thistechnology, the more people that
utilize AI to track thatpurpose, to heed the calling of
their creator, their gut feeling, the universe, whatever.
The more benevolent thattechnology becomes, we're not
subject to it, but rather we arecreated.
We are born in this time tobenefit from it, and the more we
(14:48):
do, the more benevolent itbecomes and the more benevolent
that it stays All in the pursuit, really, of happiness.
Whether you live in a countrylike the United States of
America, where you have theright, the privilege to pursue
happiness, or you live somewhereelse where you don't, the world
(15:09):
is against you.
You were not put into thisworld without everything you
need to champion your purposeand to find happiness.
Just know that now it's closerand easier than it ever has been
for any human who's ever walkedthe face of earth in history.
